24 Hour Fitness in other cities:
I have lived in Austin since 2005, and been going to 24HR fitness since 2008 or 2009. This location even pre-bankruptcy (pre-pandemic) has had older, smellier equipment, the only location not open 24/7 (even precovid), and more cramped compared to the other locations. The clientele that attend here are older, and many more ignorant if you know what I am getting at. It’s 2022, and act like it’s 1922. On a handful of occasions, we’ve heard their clientele refer to women and several ethnicities in a derogatory manner. Complaints were even filed.Unfortunately, this location survived the bankruptcy even though the pflugerville and parmer locations were cleaner, more modern, better customer service, and were open 24/7, as the gym name would imply. I work in the medical field and travel for work to Washington as well, with 24 hr fitness locations available. Even they were reopened to be available 24/7. Out of the 24 hr fitness gyms I’ve been to across the nation, this one is the worst for a myriad of reasons. The next worst was the Round Rock location, but that one closed down.Hopefully a few more locations can reopen. The gym located off 41st is still open 24/7 though. That location is much better anyways.
Im going to cover two aspects about this gym review. The gym itself like the equipment and what all it offers, and finally the sales staff. While its important to note this particular location isnt open 24/7, its still a great gym to go to. Ive been going to this gym for several years and I feel the equipment here is well maintained. This location does staff a lot of personal trainers so you can almost certainly find a trainer who you think would best suit you.If you are looking for a location that has a pool, sauna, and a steam room; this location has all three. This gym does offer various classes for free as well such as spin classes. Overall Ive gone to around 6-7 different 24 Hour Fitness (24HF) locations, and I would say this location is my favorite as far as the equipment selection. For cardio, I enjoy using the stair master and they have a lot of them to use._______________________________________________________For the sales staff here unfortunately this is where this particular location takes a nose dive. They will straight up lie to your face, and Ive directly caught them doing that to me. Continue reading and you will discover why.Without any discounts the average gym membership here costed me $36.00 per month or $432.00 per year. I recently discovered Costco sells two YEAR membership to 24 fitness for $400.00. So you can pay $400.00 for two years OR you can pay $864.00 if you go month to month. Hmm such a TOUGH decision. After years of being a fool, I purchased the two year membership from Costco. So heres the deal, one day I discovered my 2 year 24HF membership that I purchased from Costco was going to expire shortly. Without saying any prompts to the sales employee, he said But did I know that I cant use another pass from Costco. I told him I had never heard that before. He said even the fine print on the deal said it can only be used once per customer. The sales associate requested that the sales manager speak with me.The sales manager explained the very same thing, that I could not use another 2 year membership from Costco. He said it didnt matter if I went to another location either, I would be flagged in their system. Being a investigator, I decided to research this further. I checked the Terms and Conditions for the pass at Costco and it said Limit one per person. What was NOT clear was if that meant I could only buy one per day or one in my lifetime.I called Costco to get clarification and I was told that I could buy as many as I wanted and that you could just only buy one at a time. So I had uncovered officially that this 24HF location was lying to me. I returned to 24HF the same day and found the same lying sales associate at the front desk.I told him I wanted to get some clarification from what he was telling me. I relayed to him that Costco would sell me as many memberships as I wanted, so are you telling me if I purchase another one you will refuse me? He said Hold on, first off calm down. First off Costco is the ones who are telling us that we can only accept one, which is why we tell people that they can only use one. Also, when you buy from Costco, our sales associates receive nothing, so we want to look out for our team. That second part told me everything I needed to hear. Translation? I dont care if it will cost you far more money, I will lie to you to get you to pay month to month with us. Listen, I get not being upfront and sharing hey by the way, you shouldnt purchase a membership with us, get it through Costco, because you arnt making any money. Lying though when a customer brings it up to you? Thats beyond messed up.The same sales manager also called me back the following day that I purchased and used my Costco membership. He asked me if I wanted to sign up month to month with him. I told him I already purchased the Costco membership and applied it to my account there. He told me he would honor it. Oh how quick he went from saying I could not use it again to saying I could, without even having to try.
I travel the country so Ive been in most 24 fitnesses in the nation. This one is middle of the road. The staff is nice, theres plenty of space but imo they have waaaaay too much equipment that they dont need and not enough of what they do. Like there is so much equipment that you can barely walk around yet they have 2 squat racks...2!! And most the time someone is deadlifting there. I come to the gym at a little over 530 am and still have to wait everyday for a rack. I can only imagine peak times. While a good 60 70 percent of the equipment doesnt get touched ever. My only other con is while the restroom/locker room is a good size the state of them is horrible, most the toilets barely work, and it doesnt look like they clean much in there. Minus those two cons its still a decent gym, with its size it has alot of potential
Trainers keep changing always! All they want to do is take away your money!I had 4 trainers for my 15 personal training sessions. When I asked my refund for rest of my classes after the trainer got changed, they refused. Every trainer had his own way of training and didnt believe in the way the other trainer taught.Honestly its waste of your money on personal training sessions.
Yea, Ive been a member for years and Its unfortunate but I will be switching to anytime fitness soon. Every time I ask about returning to 24 hr time frame I get a different answer. It definitely seems like an excuse at this point and theyre still charging the same price... no thanks.
The design and cleanliness of the facility is on par with third world soviet union. real talk - the lockers rooms and showers are not cleaned - fact.try to ask questions, provide feedback, or cancel your membership. good luck. if someone on-site does take time to speak with you or pick up the phone, there answer to everything is - “corporate can help you with that, here’s the number.” go ahead and call ALL the numbers - no one will pick up - for months.Don’t waste your money on the trainers - even if they don’t cancel your session last minute, the sessions themselves are a waste if you have basic fitness knowledge. And of course the ever ironic 24 hour fitness closing by 9p is pathetic.
More than 3 times the club was not open at 5 am. I day it opened at 5;40 another at 5:20. I am at the club at 5:45 and I have been waiting since 4:45. Many people came and left. This is how you treat your customers. The days late were by a man on motorcycle. He doesn’t car less. Please take care of this problem Saturday 16 is today.
Poor management! The pool seems to be available ONLY for private classes. I asked them when are the classes so that I dont drive 30 miles for nothing. They gave me the schedule. Then the swim instructor kicks me out because she has FOUR students! The entire pool is closed even though these students could occupy less than half.Plus: they dont even follow the schedule they gave me! Ive been removed twice from the pool because the class got started late, and the students trickle in. Well... Im an old person just like the water aerobics class they have for these wonderful older folks. But I try to follow the schedule THEY gave me!If you like water aerobics for older people, get a membership here! But if youre a lap swimmer like me, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on a membership here!!
Update: recently there have been so many unfixed broken equipment items. To the point where if you want to use a machine after work it’s time to wait for the machine. The same machines have been broken for months. Instead of actually fixing machines, including water fountains, or the front door, or a hand dryer, the policy is always just to put a sign up that it is broken.I wish there was a cleaner culture here - no one wipes off the machines and the cleaning crew does not do enough to offset nasty habits. The gym facilities are OK and the group exercise instructors are fantastic. Generally the front office staff is friendly. This location has a track, so many group exercise classes, and a diverse range of fitness ability ages and ranges. Its corporate 24 hour fitness thats the problem. Its impossible to update payment information or log into an account. My info was wrong for years and I made many attempts to change it. Id get another notification and find out that they still had someone elses address on my account. And their old phone number. Now, after years of trying and many times spent on hold I finally have access to my online account. Shouldnt have been this hard. If youve never been a member before you can get a great deal at Costco.
Facilities much nicer than the Hancock location. Visited here due to snow closure of my usual gym (not 24 hr usually). Id make 24 hr my permanent gym if the hours were better than the other chain Im using in town. Both say they are 24 hour but neither is all year with the excuse of Covid. Not sure if that is a valid excuse at this point in time. Maybe initially when we didnt know anything in the first few months.
I really like this gym and have been going for about a year. I do think it could use slightly better or more of a variety of equipment for certain things like leg press there just isn’t as much selection of machines as some of the top tier places. But still very good place and nice staff 4/5
The classes and the gym itself is pretty good. Its in central Austin and probably the busiest but it just needs some major upgraded renovations. This gym is the only one with a track, which is great. The workout area upstairs needs to be air conditioned. I was on the stair master and did not feel any cool air coming out the vents at all. I feel like the air is hardly on up there. Most importantly, the womens lockers need to be remodel or something especially the showers. Its pretty old, moldy, rusty and stuffy in there.
I had the same issue like other people having issues canceling membership. 24 Hour cancellation process is there but not there because none of links I got from the automated email response works.@ 24 hour fitness, Is this 24 hours fitness strategy for the club member not to cancel or place a hold on their accounts? So unprofessional!! want my recent charge to be reversed, and my membership to be cancelled. Here are the reasons 24 hours should not charge me, and I want my membership to be canceled.I was never notified of this charge to be made nor provided my consentMy club number is 00682, which is one of the closed locations. I will not be able to travel to the other two locations in Austin currently open with restrictions due to transportation issues.I joined the 24 hours fitness club program to access Group Exercise. You do not offer Group Exercise at this time. Other gyms offer with the new process in place. Your program provide less than the half of services all members are charged 100%. Your websites does not work, and keep showing the error message. Also, where can members find the form related to your comment You can also mail in your cancel request to P.O. Box 787, Carlsbad, CA 92018, Attn: Cancel Dept. because I searched for it and then I could not find.
I went to this gym for almost two years. I love all the equipment, machines and classes they have at this location. The staff has always been helpful and friendly as well.I wouldnt mind paying for theyre expensive membership, if they renovated the ENTIRE place. Walking into this place is like walking back into 1996. Its so incredibly outdated. Which is insane to me why they havent given the whole place a face lift because its actually a SUPER busy gym depending on what time you go, that place gets packed. Not to mention its also in one of the nicer parts of town. Message to the GM - PLEASE just remodel the womens locker room showers AT LEAST. Theyre so old and rusty and gross, theyre never clean, I honestly dont feel clean when I shower there. I find that so unfortunate, there are older clubs in the Austin area with nicer and newer showers that actually look and feel clean.
I walk in the gym around 6 and the Spanish lady up front was like we clean until 7 and then you can come in . Around 6:40-6:6:50 she lets a white lady in without telling me I can come in since I have been waiting . The other kid is just up front to take up space. Zero professionalism and I will never return to the gym . Its funny how out of everyone it would be a cleaner acting like she owns the chain. Im a 6 figure black man so I think she was unaware of who she was dealing with . Any manager that reads this and tries to weave around it to protect the club needs to instead exercise disciplinary action .
Despite other reviews I wasnt pushed into personal training i said no once and that was that. The sign up was easy. Monthly payments are doable. I will say that machines are pretty dirty. The overall gym needs better cleaning staff. Occasionally (more often than not) I see ants in the girls locker room on the benches. I hardly see any one wipe down their machines after using, which sucks. Everything there is pretty old school but I dont mind because there is still everything I need and works just fine. The indoor track is definitely a plus for me. The classes they offer/times are ok. I don’t think it’s ever really packed which is nice. Overall, its a fine gym if you arent high maintenance.
I was looking forward to checking out 24 hour fitness and seeing what they had to offer as Im a traveling professional. While looking at fitness center options in the area, I noticed a promotion for a free week trial so I submitted my info and was looking forward to the week. Maybe less than an hour later, JD was texting me while I was busy doing other things asking me why I wanted to try for a week. I told him because thats what I was offered by the promotion and he denied access to the club. This behavior was entirely unprofessional and should not be tolerated by 24 hour fitness or other patrons looking for a facility in the area. Management / Corporate please take notice that this employee is steering customers away from this location. Hes more than likely poking his nose in other patrons business creating an unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment.
I was going to open a account with them but they lost me and a few others I recommended to them. I wanted to try the 3 day pass today and get the membership right after but I see they still all about getting money out of people . Even through this COVID-19 . Some people lost their jobs and still want to be able to work out . You can only live in Austin to get the free 3 day pass and I live right on the outside of Austin so they denied me . This the only gym that was close But they obviously don’t care about people nor getting new service. I asked a employee why they charging people for a free day through this pandemic and he couldn’t even answer me
Friendly helpful and responsive staff. Any issue brought to them has been handled promptly. Equipment is maintained. Only issues I have are indoor track needs some TLC and gym is TOO HOT. I have brought this up to staff but was told that Corporate handles the ac and heating settings in gym. Sorry but we are in TEXAS and it is HOT here. AC needs to be set cooler setting at noon before everyone comes in from work. I will adjust my review when CA Corporate adjusts a/c temperatures in gym.
This is a overall a nice neighborhood gym. It is affordable. Staff are friendly and they always help you out. However, most machines are getting pretty old and i have not seen any upgrades other than spinning cycles in the last two years. Washrooms are pretty bad and also overall cleanliness is not the greatest.. I dont have any comments about the pool, because i have never used it, it just does not look very attractive..
If you are not comfortable working out next to people breathing heavily without mask, maybe skip this gym for now. The mask required area is very limited without much equipment to work on. Very disappointed about the decision to drop mask mandate so quickly given how crowded the weight room is, and most people are willing to wear masks.
Staff is personable and professional. The facility is in a convenient location and they have spa/steam rooms... But that’s about it. The equipment is way overdue for an upgrade. If youre used to machines from the late 90s early 2000s you may just enjoy this gym. If they had a better selection of machines I would renew at the end of my contract. I’ll probably shop around or go back to golds gym.
Great Gym, I was a member at a previous gym and had to cancel my membership because I moved and 24 hour fitness was more convenient for me now. I’ve now been a member for over two years and I’ve had my ups and downs but I will say now that all my negative experiences I had were changed into positive ones. I saw an incident with one of the caregivers at the kids club but they later hired a lot of wonderful and loving ladies. I also had a previous not so good experience with some personal trainers but again, they hired new trainers and I’m now working with Ian H. I have to say he definitely made me change my mind about personal trainers. I was a bit hesitant about inquiring the services of another trainer (especially at the same gym) but he has proven himself to be really trustworthy and incredibly understanding. I’ve done a few sessions with him and out of the 3 previous trainers I’ve worked with he has definitely shown genuine interest in trying to help me reach my goals. He is always so understanding of my hectic schedule and willing to accommodate his schedule to help me stay on track. He’s is also amazing at answering all the questions I may have and is in such a great mood!
Pros - Not over crowded. Nice workout environment and good equipment. Indoor running track, pool, sauna, hot tub, steam room. Somewhat clean which is better than other gyms I have been toCons - Still a bit pricey. It seems like every gym I ever go to is dirty unless it is a new one.
The locker rooms and showers are not clean and a portion of the gym equipment is always either broken or on its last legs. Weekend open hours dont really fit a gym thats called 24 Hour Fitness: keep in mind that this 24 closes at 8PM on Saturday and Sunday. However, the gym does have plenty to offer in terms of amenities: theres a good collection of cardio and weight equipment, a short indoor track, a pool, hot hub, and sauna. Also, the gym is usually not too crowded and theres no wait for equipment.
Ive been working out at this gym for about six months now. I think the staff is friendly and helpful. I can tell that the equipment is used but have not seen a plethora of broken equipment. I work out 4-5 times a week and have had great experiences while there. I love all the options: childcare, pool, jacuzzi, cycle room, indoor track, dark room, and the other various equipment. The only thing I dont like are the limited hours, but I can definitely work around that.
Super friendly staff for the most part. The equipment is alright and sufficient although some equipment look kind of old. The whole place inside actually seems old also and in need of more cleaning or just renovating. The mens bathroom have terrible water pressure that fluctuates and has a bit of mold all around. The toilet area in the mens room is also not super clean and kind of ragged. Gets the job done with friendly staff but the cleanliness and equipment might leave you wanting a little bit.I dont use the pool or any of the classes.
This place is in major need of a renovation. The women’s locker room hasn’t been updated in 30 years - no joke. The showers are falling apart, tile is old and crumbling - doesn’t look like my nice 24 hour fitness in my old south Austin neighborhood. Makes me wonder where all my money goes every month. The saving grace is that the staff is friendly, classes are awesome and most workout equipment is up to date.
They are still charging me even though their clubs have been closed for a month. Refused to refund my wife and Is billing and their excuse is that my membership will be extended to compensate. No, I am actually waiting for my contract to end to leave this gym because of this. How deceitful can this company be? Mediocre gym at best when it was open. Charging people for something they can not use? Pathetic.
Great gym! The people here are very courteous and helpful... its also a normal person gym, its not full of narcissistic people. This gym has free classes, a hot tub, pool, wet, and dry sauna. Also is very affordable. Highly recommend! This is an older facility, but they still keep it pretty nice. Could really use one of those swimsuit wringers though ;)
First off, the staff are okay, especially when compared to other 24hrs. Writing this review as I workout, and this location is the worst, most disgusting, most mismanaged gym ive ever step foot in. The equipment is awful, broken machines, free weights rusted with extremely worn gnurling. The entire location has a stench. The floors are FILTHY with caked on dirt and grime. This gym is in need of a serious remodel. This is the first 24hr with NO free towels that ive been to. Had to pay $10 for a towel because I thought all 24hrs had towels you can grab and use for free. What a joke.
I personally think 24 hour fitness is very nice. You get what you paid for. Indeed the equipment needs upgrade and some of treadmills do not work, plus the lady’s changing room needs an upgrade too, fortunately I live close to the gym so the shower wouldn’t be a problem. They have AMAZING group training class, all Zumba, body combat, HIIT classes are AMAZING, a lot of people show up for class so there will be peer pressure which is a good thing (when you see people in better shape are even attending class, it’s a good vibe). Additionally, be sure to sign up your membership with Mike Lamb, he is the nicest guy one could imagine, always nice, helpful, patient and wants to make sure you are taken care of.
I have attended this location many times, and each time I tell myself “it’s not as bad as you remember, you can try this location again”, but then I arrive here and I’m always just super dissapointed in the lack of cleanliness and the compete rudeness of the staff and sales leaders (shocking, actually). If you have a question about a promotional events they are half of the time not even aware of the promotions or they seriously fight you on the non-advertised “fine print” which make all of the promotions really not valuable to any member. All of the interactions I’ve had with their sales management has been full of pressure/pushy and all about them making as much money as possible off of us that it makes me uncomfortable; one of their sales managers actually hung up on me and raised her voice because I was asking for clarification about their guest policy in comparison to other local gyms. Lastly, the Group Exercise Room is so uncomfortable and outdated; the only air movement in there is from Very Old ceiling fans(yes, like the ones in a 1980’s house living room); even if you are lucky to get a spot standing near one of those fans you feel like you are going to suffocate on the hot stagnant air as you try to get through a whole class. The other 24 Hour locations in Austin have MUCH much better Group exercise class rooms. Overall, this location should just be avoided if you can at all find the time to drive to another location, and try to avoid having to call and talk to their sales leaders at this location unless you want to be spoken to rudely and curtly once they realize they aren’t getting a bunch more money out of you - they have zero problem acting like you are wasting their time.
This is by far my least favorite location. The staff is sooo unfriendly. I’ve only been to this facility twice, and each time, it was the most unwelcoming feeling I’ve ever had entering into a gym. I went in yesterday (for the last time), and as I punched in my code, there were three (3) associates standing at the counter. Every last one of them just stared and looked at me without so much as a hello. How awful! On top of that it’s dirty with a lot of inoperative equipment. The water fountain literally has a bunch of dry, brown disgusting residue lingering on the surface. Unacceptable. I will not be back.
**SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. DO NOT GO HERE.**I live maybe 1 minute away from this gym and wanted to come check it out. I signed up for the Guest Pass online prior to working out. Upon arrival, they asked for my DL and I happily provided it. After realizing my permanent address on my DL is listed in Fort Worth and not Austin, they informed me if I wanted to workout I would have to pay a $20 non-local fee. I have lived down the street from this location in an apartment for over a year but have a different permanent address - they didnt care. After realizing I would have to pay $20, I was uninterested in working out. The salesman and manager were VERY pushy and awkwardly showed me around the gym. After stating the fact that I didnt want to start a membership, they still pushed it on me for another 20 minutes. Long story short, the service here is absolutely terrible it ruined my whole experience. I will not be returning to this location ever again.
I have been training at this 24hr Fitness for almost a year and a half and the staff, trainers and managers are by far some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Every one is always quick with a hello, how are you as you check in. I decided to try my luck with a trainer, though I was really skeptical that I could stick it out with someone telling me what to do, and I lucked into a great trainer in Justin. He has really devised training that has surpassed my goals and has really made me feel good about myself. Stop by, let Lisa or one of the other staff take you on a tour and see if this 24hr Fitness can meet your needs.
Its a good gym. I signed up like 11 years ago with a pay-two-years-up-front and then only pay $50 a year for the rest of my life deal - so for $50 a year I cant complain too much. As a runner I love the indoor track - yes its only 1/10th of a mile around, but sure beats the treadmill and a great option for rainy, freezing cold or uber hot days. 6-7 miles is completely doable with headphones and good music. I also like spinning for cross training and they have plenty of classes. All necessary equipment for strength and core work, too. The pool can get crowded by I ask the share a lane and have never been told no. One of the few places with a good steam room. The toilets are gross in the mens room - thats the real negative of this place. Hit it early morning weekdays or weekends - I would avoid after work at all costs - way too busy. Otherwise, no other major complaints, and like I said, for $50 a year I wont complain at all.
This is the dirtiest gym in town, locker rooms smell like something died and restrooms and showers have mold growing on the tiles. The floors have so much dirt, dust, and hair that if you happen to get on the floor and do a few stretches, you will vomit before you can get back up. Sure it has a pool but its full or old ladies and men using it as a kid wading pool so good luck finding a lane at any time. You have members that use the two only squat rack as a bicep curling station and good luck getting through your workout around peak hours.I could go on and on....
I worked for this brand before. Here is the deal, It’s just a gym that might you have in your residential complex not more than that. If you have more expectation or if they telling more for sale please do not rely on it!They losing qualified employees all the time due to low salaries.Lastly, tell’em your f...ing employees wear that MASK!
Ill try to be non bias here. The machines are good, there a plenty. The track is good. It is a bit dirty in the corners and lockers. The fountains are either OOO, have little water pressure or the water is warmPrice is good. That said, I had someone break-in my locker and my neighbors locker which both were locked with a padlock. This person stoled my wallet and went on a shopping spree at Target. I found out while I was working out through my banks txt mgs and went to check my locker out. When I told the Manager, he seemed more concerned about me not making too much noise (he had a new client prospect) that helping me. He took my number and no one ever called me.
I have just started working out at this Location. I picked it initially for its 3.5mi distance, which is great for biking to and from. The next reason I chose this place are for the amenities. They have a: pool, jacuzzi, wet/dry sauna, indoor track, great cardio area, free/cable/machine weights area and all group classes are free. They also have a convenient checkin that doesnt require you to have a card or key, but rather a stationary key paid and fingerprint scanner. They have a great juice bar. Their retail shop leaves you wishing they had more, but not a deal breaker. The staff seem nice thus far for the month I have been there. They offer personal training but I havent delved into that program. NOTE- This location is not 24/7, but rather just on Mon-Thurs, and Friday, Sat., Sun. are till 8pm or 10pm. The locker room has nice wooden lockers, but you must bring your own lock. There are flat screen TVs in there. They have plenty of sinks and counter space with huge mirrors. I recommend this place.
I am not going to say I hate this gym, but I am not going to say I love this gym either. It does have extras such as pool, hot-tub, aerobics, yoga, and strength training classes. It doesnt have much space between the machines and as some have already mentioned, the equipment is dirty. If I could justify the cost, would I go to Pure Austin Fitness, probably, but for the same price I have a membership for two people and no contract. The 80s decor wouldnt be considered retro as the paint is quite old , but should be updated with neon stripes or something.
I have been a member for several years. The gym is ok, but my main complaint is that the exercise machines are constantly broken and not fixed. When you report a machine malfunctioning, they very politely take the information, but 3 months later nothing has been done. They have 9 AMT Elliptical machines and 6 of them have needed repairs for the past 7 months but nothing is done. I am tired of reporting the same machine over and over. Since this is the only cardio equipment I use, the only three fully working machines are always taken! It is still the same problem a year later!!!
Ive been going to this location for about two years now. All in all, its acceptable for my purposes. I like the fact that they recently refurbished the steam room. Its a lot cleaner and the temperature is more consistent (I havent seen anyone pour water on the thermostat like they used to).The showers are not maintained properly. One stall in particular has mildew that has been there for months and now looks like it is about to evolve legs and jump on a treadmill. One of the wall-mounted dryers ( a regular hand dryer, positioned high up on the wall at hair level) was non-functioning for over a year before they finally got around to fixing it.This location has parking lot security in the form of a guy in uniform that looks like it came from a thrift shop sitting around on various convenient objects and reading paperback books. I make sure to hide my valuables.
Id give it zero stars if I could. I have been part of L.A. Fitness, Golds Gym, Formula Fitness (Chicago), and Planet Fitness in the past. The staff at 24 Hour Fitness is by far the worst I have ever experienced.I went in wanting to try a few classes and saw that a 3-day pass was available. When I arrived, I got a good tour and a somewhat pushy sales person (I forget his name). At the end of the tour he wanted me to sign up (for real? I havent even worked out yet). He asked what he could do to get me to sign-up. I said, Id like to take advantage of the 3-day pass to test the classes and facility. Mostly the classes. He said, thats cool. He kept my ID and didnt print out the 3-day. He said hed get that to me after my workout. I did a Cycle class. After my workout, I was met by the sales manager, Justin Anders. He was incredibly aggressive trying to strong arm me to join after 1 workout class. He asked me what my hesitation was and I told him I needed to test out more of the classes. He responded, Well, we havent heard any complaints about our classes. I responded, Great, Id still like to test them out. The the idiot said, Well, what more do you need? Itll take a month to test them out. Youd need more than 3 days. You cant test drive a car for more than a few hours. And I was like, No, actually, you can (Toyota). He continued with his tactics and I kept giving him better explanations as to why I wasnt going to sign-up that day. I can see he getting fed up and he even stopped looking at me in the eye. Must have been the roids. If the staff werent so focused on selling, I would have joined. I already had the mindset that I would join when I went in and wanted to just get a feel for the classes. The extra pressure to join made me feel like they were struggling to keep members. Also, the cycle class was just OK. All classes are probably worth the price. However, Ill never step foot in a 24 Hour Fitness again.
I go to the gym to decompress, not to chat. The front desk greets me with a smile, I reciprocate and go about my business. No, its not open 24/7 but, that doesnt take away from anything. The indoor track is rad. Theres a pool, sauna, steam room, and silent dark room. Usually quiet, and with decent working equipment. Couldnt ask anything more from a gym.
Decent gym. Only bad thing is the up selling. Since sign up Ive received MULTIPLE calls, texts & emails trying to get me to sign up for personal training. Ive told them, NO, TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST. I WILL NEVER WANT P. T. - Yet theyre still blowing up my phone. Its ridiculous. Really makes me want to go somewhere else but theyre the closest gym to my house. But if they keep it up, Fitness Connection is still pretty close...
Im giving this 5 stars for what you get for the price. Its not a luxury gym by any means, but if you get the Costco membership it works out to be around 15$ a month and its definitely worth that! I attend mostly for the classes so I cant say much about the equipment. They have the most classes in all of Austin and the instructors are great. Ive been to the Hancock branch (a parking disaster) and the Parmer gym (ok, but not nearly as many class offerings) and the Research Blvd one is my favorite.
Not open 24 hours at this location gotcha! The showers have just been remodeled! Staff is super cool. I tried a trainer for a few weeks he tried to sell me herbalife and recruit me to his personal gym and never helped me to develop any routine. Complete waste of money and then he quit not too long after that. I still enjoy the friendly staff here just ask what do I get before you commit topersonal training sessions haha!
Ugh. 24hour fitness sure knows how to buy a nice facility and run it into the ground. So this is their trademark location here in the Austin area. It used to be the Q and this was then a supersport 24 hour fitness now it is a sport. The water area is quite nice with a very large hot tub the size of a small pool. Too bad the maintenance department doesnt keep up with the chlorine and often lets the water get murky and smelly. The weight areas are really crowded at peak times and there are only 2 free squat bars in the whole place which are hogged. The facilities are nice here (somewhat), the weights & machines need updating. The reason for 3 stars is because of the horrible management of 24 hour fitness. They are dressed all black with red stripes, have a very vampiric dark aura about them; and repeatedly ignored my warnings of sexual predatory behavior in this place.Be not deceived. This most certainly is a vampiric freemason temple. I contacted corporate threatened to sue got my contract canceled with a satisfying refund of money.
I have been going to this gym for close to 4 years. Despite it being a 24 Hour Fitness club, this location is not open 24 hours. I am okay with this but other people should know. The size of the gym would be medium in comparison to other locations. They have a pool, sauna, steam-room, and also offer classes.
Personable and helpful staff. I once managed to lock my locker with the key INSIDE. Two staff came to my rescue with a mini jaws-of-life-looking set of pliers. On a daily, they greet members by name with a smile and respond quickly to basic requests for cleaning supplies.
The James manager in charge is so rude to the customer about cancelation of the policy and he cancelled the policy without my confirmation. I visited the gym for cancellation but he was not there, I waited for around 20 minutes and today he is saying I he was there and standing by side of me. He has cancelled my policy and kept due charge of 346$ without my confirmation. He threatened me to call police and charge for harrassment case when I asked him to give my confirmation record over phone line or in person recording.
Management: If you have a compliment for one of their staff or need assistance with any concern you will find that Will and the other staff members are always eager to help you out and ensure that you can train in a clean and safe environment. I appreciate all of their friendly and professional staff and their cleaning crew.
The place needs to be renovated and thoroughly cleaned. The equipment and machines upstairs are old and not always working properly. But what bothered me the most is the women bathrooms: its filthy in there, theres always a bad smell, and always at least one overflowing toilet and broken/out of order sinks. They need to invest in maintaining higher hygiene.
Staff are not professional and kind of stupid. I canceled my service and after couple of days, I noticed no change through online. I called to cancel the second time. However, it did not work either. GOD. I found this until I notice there is a billing still going on for couple of months.Besides this overcharging thing, 24hour fitness in general just try to secretly increase the monthly fee all the time without any notice. And some weird annual fee. It was really terrible fitness trying to make dirty money from its user. Will never use it !
I have been going to this location for about 2-2 1/2 years now and it has definitely gone downhill during this time. I used to enjoy coming here do to the layout of the machines. They made great use of the space and didnt have the machines lined up in rows like they do now. You could work on the weight machines while waiting for an elliptical machine or treadmill and see when one opened up. Now all of those machines are behind you and you stare at the empty cycling room or other weight machines. It used to be fun to work out here because of the huge windows and different layout. Now I dread coming here. It always smells bad. Many of the machines dont have the directions on them anymore. Many are broken or in disrepair. They wont allow you to change the TV channels, say the members steal the remotes. But the TVs in front of the ellipticals are broken and the channels are unable to be changed at all. You would think that since they are paying some kind of cable company a monthly access fee they would at least call the company to come fix this problem. Or they could even switch one of the other TVs where you can change the channels with one of the ones that are broken to accommodate their members. Customer service is obviously NOT a priority here. Why arent the members getting a discount if we arent even able to distract ourselves by watching sports on TV when trying to finish an hour on the elliptical machine? I have brought this problem up many times but the kids that work there just dont really care. If I were you I would go to ANY OTHER CLUB IN AUSTIN. THIS ONE IS TERRIBLE. And the reason it gets even 1 star is simply because it has an indoor track.
The gym is pretty nice but the staff and management are horrible...I hardly notice things that pull out of my account and I had a gym membership but noticed that the price didnt look right and found out that they had been charging my card twice every month for 3 months because I went in and signed a membership with my friend and paid for her first month. They said well we never got a card from her and we had your card (like WHAT THE @$%#!!!)...I had my card on file for my account but never agreed to pay for 2 accounts every month and they wouldnt give me a refund and when I cancelled I was charged again. The manager was horrible and they said I could call the 1800 number and said good luck with that. This place blows camels for air.
I liked 24 hour fitness in Washington never had a problem. But thats not the case here unfortunately. The city of Austin isnt even on their website. Even though they have a location on research boulevard in Austin. I keep on getting transferred to the same wrong location over and over again. 30 minutes I wasted on this fruitless endeavor. They obviously dont want my money that bad if they cant even find one of their locations. ZERO HELP.
They desperately need to upgrade their weight machines. Ive informed the staff numerous times about the failing, frayed and stuck cables. Nothing seems to get fixed and nobody seems to care. They whole place needs a massive renovation as the gym was built inside the same structure of the gym prior. Which was built over 25 years ago. I would give it one star if it wasnt for their new sauna. All the Austin 24s need to get it together. I say this coming from California.
Id rate it a solid 4 for the class I took (great instructor) but the staff are pushy and rude. Asked me if I was interested in various things and still insisted on showing them to me after I said no. Tried to push the personal training (of course) and were really condescending when I said it wasnt for me. I get that its a business and they want to make money but treating people who dont buy your most expensive products with disdain is not the way to make people want to come back.
This gym has gone downhill in the last 2-4 years. Good luck finding a working treadmill. Half of them are broken with various issues. Either the buttons dont work to adjust the speed or stuck, or it wont turn on, or the tread is loose and you cant go above walking speed. The treadmills are at least 5 years old. You can tell the desk that a treadmill is broken, but they just send maintenance to work on it in 2-4 hours. Maybe it will be working tomorrow. The free weights are cramped together. There are only 2 squat racks, and only two flat benches. The Olympic bars are always lose and roll while you lift throwing one off during a lift if you arent expecting it. The place is clean though which is nice.
Pool area= salt/chlorine pool is literally sparkling clean, fresh steam room, cedarwood dry sauna, and tile hot tub always clean. Staff and trainers have friendly, positive vibe. Breeze through check-in with freaky fast fingerprint readers. Clean mens locker room with plenty of space, High end equipment, the 2nd story has a freshly resurfaced rubberized track. Cant go wrong here.
Went in twice to trial the gym. First time they were closing at 8pm. Next time came during lunch with my trial pass. It was not accepted due to not having a local ID. I offered a passport and non-local ID. Its funny that this is the nearest gym to me and Id probably join if they just let me trial it. Now Ive wasted my time twice to visit and I wont be returning.
I bought five personal training sessions. I took 2 of them. The next day after my second one, I did the Silver Sneakers class and the lunge movement injured my hip. I told my trainer and we cancelled my next session. The hip got worse, so I call and told them that Id had to have steroid and Hyalgan shots in my hip and could not work out for awhile. My two training sessions were in June 2018, I had the Hyalgan series of shots in my left hip in July and finished my PT on my hip and planned to start back in a week (late August). Then my left knee went out and my Hyalgan shots series took until mid September. My knee physical therapy ended In October. My right hip went out the end of Oct,, I had to have a steroid shot in it as well. When it was getting better in late November, I started to schedule my remaining 3 PT sessions, with my physical therapist when the Hyalgan in the right hip wore off and I ended up in a wheel chair from Christmas until April 2nd when I had surgery on the left hip to replace it. I took physical therapy for that in my home, and they said I would go to outpatient physical therapy sometime in June. So, the middle of May, I called 24 Hour Fitness to set up my last three PT sessions (that I had paid for) for the end of June when my Outpatient Physical therapy was the slated to end. I was told that the sessions would expire in one week. I told him that I was not medically released yet to return to regular physical training at the gym. He said if I didnt take them by the next week they they would expire. I was livid. Then, about a month ago, the manager of 24 Hour Fitness sent me an email offering me a discount on a PT package. I wrote back and said that I might consider it if: 1. They would let me schedule the three that Id already paid for, and2. If they would give me a written guarantee that the next package could be extended if/when I had to have more hip and/or knee surgery. I wrote him that if he did not respond, or if he would not give me a refund or let me schedule the ones Id pay for, that Id be forced to write a review. As of today, all I hear is crickets chirping . . . NO reply from 24 Hour Fitness. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND CRUEL TO THE TEMPORARILY DISABLED. MAYBE EVEN IN VIOLATION OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA).
I signed up for three days to check out the facility and upon arrival was told I needed to buy a membership and that the pass could not be used etc. After being quoted two-three different prices for membership I left disgusted. The shady tactics by the front desk are not necessary and to be quoted something without even seeing the interior of the gym is less than acceptable. As I stated: I signed up to check the place out only to be lied to and turned away. If the relationship starts this way I can only imagine how it is when I sign on the dotted line.........
I’m a member over 5years now, I called a friend who is a member at another gym to join #24hr fitness, then I went to the front desk to see if they have any promotion for 4th of July. The lady at the desk showed me the prices and explained the different memberships, so I said, I think I need to get a 3 day pass for a friend today, then let him get a membership with the 4th of July promotion.I then tried getting the day pass online using their computer, a member of their staff approached me who was wearing a handkerchief like a hair band and asked if I needed help, I said I’m ok, thank you. He walked away, then came back are you trying to get a free pass? Yes I said, Well, you can use my name, I have a promotion he said. I told him I was already filling out the online pass form, but he kept interrupting me, which became very irritating. He kept saying your friend must be here I said ok, my friend is on his way and Ill fill out the form when he gets here. My friend showed up and I tried to use the computer to activate the pass . While I’m typing my friend’s info on the website, the guy tried talking my friend into being a client, my friend said well, I’m just trying to get a day pass right now. As soon as he said that, the staff member right away said we cant do that, there are 100 people trying to get free passes, but we can charge you $20 for the day if you wanted to workout..we gotta make money you know My friend said no thanks and said he was leaving. I went to the manager and I asked him why I couldnt use the pass? The manager then asked the staff member if he told us we couldnt use the pass, the staff member denied he said that and that her friend said, he was not interested in a membership when he asked him.He flat out lied to his manager infront of me, I was going to get a membership for my friend but he decided he didnt want to anymore, due to the staff members poor approach. I understand his job is part salesman, however, he was so overly aggressive and had he any patience and training in attracting clients, he would have found out my friend was acctually going to get a membership there. This staff member needs some personal training when it comes to attracting clients, lets hope hes the only bad apple...management, are you reading this?
After calling 2 other gyms, this was First place to answer my calls, and within 2 rings. I spoke with lisa i believe and she was so nice and very discriptive about everything. We set up a meeting to check out everything tomarrow but i feel like ive already found the gym I wanna go to! A++
Its got a good size workout area, huge locker room, enough equipment, good size warmup area. However it reeks of chlorine often, and ends up being pretty irritating to my eyes. Free weight area is ALWAYS packed. Some of the equipment is pretty dated, needs to be replaced/repaired. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful. Id give it a C+, does the job, but could really use some improvements to make it awesome. Age range is pretty big here, you could be 16 or 60, so dont feel intimidated that its going to be a young/whatever gym.
We dont pay a lot for this gym, so we dont expect a lot from it. Yes, some of the weight machines are old and rusty, the track is so worn its uneven. However, what is absolutely unreal about this gym is the level of FILTH that it MAINTAINS in the pool area! Used bandaids, grime, chewed gum, and other gross unidentifiable items are always present, and stay around for weeks (even when we report them EVERY TIME to the front desk). We went so far as to let corporate know about the filth - which I cant even imagine passess health tests - and while they finally called us back and sid it was addressed, we went the next day and nothing changed. I will be sure to update this post if we hear back or see an improvement.Update: They did just buy a TON of new equipment, refreshed the decor, and rearranged the space, which is great. The cleanliness issue remains unchanged.
I started going to this 24 hour fitness due to the convenience of it (less than a mile from where I live) but it should be noted that this 24 hour isnt open 24/7. Its 24 hour during M-Thu, however, on Friday, its only open until 11pm and on Sat - Sun it closes at 8pm.About two years ago, at around 11pm, someone broke into the locker I was using and took my wallet and keys. Cut the lock I had on it off. Filed a police report but never did hear anything back. Cant say I blame the police that much - they, no doubt, have more important stuff to investigate than a stolen wallet. Although 24 hour fitness, it seems, really could have made it easy for them and they didnt. ie. you have to check in with your phone number and fingerprint scan. You dont have to checkout but still... at that time its not like there are a ton of people there anyway.I mean, maybe 24 hour helped the police and maybe they didnt - I really have no idea. And, at the end of the day, unless it was employee theft, its not their fault, so much as the thiefs fault.Other than that it gets the job done. Im still a member. I just dont use their lockers anymore. I change at my place and have everything on my person.
One water fountain that works. (Chilled water that sprays enough to reach it)And TV number 10 continues to display check cooling system in the middle of the screen obscuring part of the picture only 3 months after I reported it, 24 hours per day - well at least the part of the day that they are open, which is not 24 hours.Cost and location are good though.Update: now November. Still check cooling system, and still only one good drinking fountain. Will update again in 2 or 3 more months.Update 12/31/14: TV fixed. Third star added.
You can do better at other gyms in this area.I had a theft happen there -- my wallet. They so-called 24-hour gym was closing at 8 (or 9, cant remember) on a Saturday night. I left my wallet on elliptical machine. I specifically remember (after the fact) where I left it.First thing in the morning, I head to the gym to get it. First, Im hassled by the front-desk nazi for not having an ID, despite explaing my story. I have to go back home, get a backup ID, then they let me in. Instead of helping me find it, or backtrack, they treat me like an idiot. And worse, the wallets not there. I was the last person to leave the so-called 24-gym, and one of the first people back there in the morning. Someone on-site swiped it.So, bad reviews for bad customer service. Dont treat your customers like idiots (even if they are) and they will reward you for it. Secondly, dont steal.
Lots of shiny equipment, but too often broken. Classes are crammed into one room which is often overfilled. Classes like Yoga and Pilates seem to be scheduled for retirees and people who dont work. Classes stop WAY too early. So why do we go there? Cost and hours for equipment access work for us. Wish they would fix the class thing, though#30DayChallenge
Like the indoor pool and hot tub. Kinda cool that they have an indoor running track too.Theyve rearranged the upstairs better than it used to, but afaik they dont allow you to change the channels on the TVs. Its pretty annoying especially considering how limited the choices in the channels they have is.
Their sales team was very pushy on me getting a membership. Well or sales person. I dont remember his name but I told him I could not afford this membership and he kept on pushing my buttons and trying to help me make it affordable. But he just wasnt listening to my needs, he just wanted my sale. He said why are you making this a chess game, when I am trying to help you.
I could give them 5 stars but it was my first time here and so I have been a member since 4 years ago and I really like 24 hours but people whos in front if they dont really like their jobs just leave it we expected to see a friendly faces or minimum a smile not angry faces ( it was a girl) if Im going to pick a trainer obviously I dont gonna choose her.

2022-07-01Ive been lifting weights here for about 9 months now and I absolutely love that they have a lot of machines and free weights to accommodate my weightlifting needs. The staff are nice and friendly, and members are helpful and not judgmental. I also love their classes, specifically Zumba (Honey rocks!) ❤

2022-04-27Wow this gym is amazing!!!! Sauna, steam room, indoor pool, with hot tub, more rooms were you can exercise. But what really beats this gym than all the others is their employees. And manager. They are always helping always have answers and always dedicated to their work. I am so glad I gave this gym a try now Im here to stay.

2022-02-2324hr fitness still only open till 9pm... They keep using COVID as the excuse but seriously, I dont think thats the case because its not like they enforce the mask rule on premises or have staff walking around cleaning equipment regularly. Also the pool is still open and thats a great place to transmit COVID. More like a 2.5 star. Not the worst but not the best. Not sure when or how often the floor is cleaned. They have plenty of cardio and weight equipment including 2 squat racks which is good but not great because they also happen to be facing each other. That can be awkward when someone else is using it. However this equipment is so popular that really you are lucky to be able to find it free when you go. Ive been at all hours of the day from mid day to up untill closing and its very rarely ever not busy. I would try early morning but Im too lazy and just not a morning person, lol. On some occasions I have found I need to wait for the free weights. What I love is its location - its very close to where I live and a HEB so I can grab groceries if needed. Also they have a pool which is great and its a person per lane. Classes are great too. Well attended but not crowded.

2021-12-14Overall I enjoy the facility. I have been lifting at Golds Gym locations for a long time. While it certainly doesnt have as abundant of equipment as Golds, its mostly adequate, except if youre trying to do a leg workout from 5-7pm. You REALLY have to tough it out during that time frame. From a convenience angle, this place is top-tier. Location is very near my home, and its conveniently right behind an HEB.I just really hope they revert back to being a 24hr facility as the name implies. Rush hour is a nuisance at any gym to be fair, but over here its excruciating. If people are able to lift at night again, it would fix this issue substantially.CONTEXT:Im in the gym exclusively to lift, use the track, and sometimes a treadmill, and all of these needs are definitely met here. I havent used the restrooms here, have not taken classes, or used any special amenities so I cant comment on those. If youre like me and just need to lift some iron at the end of the day, you cant really go wrong here.

2022-07-01Joined about 4 months ago. Club is well attended but lacks attention to detail. There is mold and missing tile. The mens toilets are rarely clean and do not flush properly. Given the high traffic this facility would appear to benefit from repeated cleaning during the day. In addition the pool surface has a lot of dirt that does not get cleaned. Not impressive.Follow Up: Credit where due. Now have a nice young man cleaning facility during the day. Much improved. Still needs remodeling/updating but better.

2022-03-21I was a member of this specific facility for a few years. I cancelled my membership and thought all was taken care of. Come to find they kept deducting membership fees for an entire year! When I call and visited the facility , I got nothing and came up empty. When I emailed corporate multiple times, I got no response. When I called the Customer service line they were Rude, and did not escalate the call to a manager. What a Rip off. Watch your funds. Dont become a member of a facility that only cares about money. On a side note : Ive made all my money back by swaying friends and family from joining this gym.

2022-04-19I just moved from Greater Philly and tried out this gym & location for a free trial (yes - they accepted my out of state ID) however I will not be returning due to the lack of cleanliness of the bathrooms and sauna. The benches at the free weight area were old, rusted & worn, and one had no padding whatsoever (which sadly is the one I was stuck with). The dry sauna was absolutely disgusting and definitely needs the wood replaced. I have been in several dry saunas at different gyms and 24HR’s was the worst due to stench, visibly old wooden warped boards, and did not look clean. The bathrooms were dirty as well. I find it interesting they can buy new machines but cannot replace clearly old equipment or clean areas that are high-use.Matt was an excellent tour guide and this review is in NO reflection of the staff or trainers. The lack of cleanliness and care for the entire facility seems to fall back on the company as a whole and the senior management of this specific location.

2022-02-03Gym was fine. Equipment good. I have been going to 24 Hour for decades and most are closing. There are some left, but the cleanliness is lacking at the gym. The locker rooms are Never kept clean. I dont think the staff wants to clean them. Is there a Night Crew that cleans 1 time a day? This is not enough obviously. Look at the photos. If you are a lifetime member, such as I am, it is a good deal. If you are looking for a gym to join or renew, I would not suggest it.

2022-04-03Club is decent enough for the price, although there is an excess of cardio equipment and machines that dont get used. Would be nice if they replaced it with more weightlifting equipment, additional squat racks, etc. as it seems those are always occupied.Mainly giving 2 stars because of the limited hours - it was great when the place really was 24 hours. At this point they should just change the name. They recently limited hours even more, opening at 6 AM on Saturday and Sunday. To add insult to injury, the staff cant be bothered to show up on time to open the club at 5/6 AM. If you are someone who works on a tight schedule and needs to start your workout right at 5 or 6 AM, avoid this place! Clearly the staff has no respect for anyone elses time and Ive lost count of how many times Ive driven up within 10-15 minutes after opening time to see a group of people waiting outside.I will probably let my membership expire because of this issue, why pay ANY amount of money just to find yourself sitting in your car waiting for someone to unlock the door?

2022-05-18This review is for the corporate office not necessarily for this particular location...Ive first joined a 24 hrs fitness center in Memphis TN in 2000 and at the time I was paying $20 per month... Ive traveled all over the country and used the facilities under this 24hrs fitness franchise and brand name to this day...The service is getting worse, the schedule is reduced despite the core concept as they started to be non-stop 24/7/365 open yet the membership prices went up and up...Especially recently under new ownership in the last 2-5 yrs they lost the sense of customer service and all they want is your money and then to get you out of the facilities as soon as possible without being rude to your face...Thats why is not 24hrs open anymore because they dont want you inside using their poorly maintained facilities and equipment for too long...Theyre using COVID pandemic as an excuse and before that maintenance and cleaning time needed for not keeping it open 24hrs...But they dont reduce the membership prices accordingly to compensate for the time we the users and members are not able to use the facilities...on the contrary...we now pay more for the membership as you members already know yet we have less time available to use it...It was one of the best in the nation... and due to the recent corporate greed became one of the worst in the nation as it is now...Why am I still with them?? While in Dallas I just cancelled and switched to their competition L.A.fitness that sadly are no better... and Esporta fitness under the same corporate umbrella...but not affiliated with 24 hrs fitness...Ironically there is none L.A. or Esporta fitness in Austin area where I need to be due to a job assignment...so here I am even if I dont want to, back to 24 hrs fitness thats not even open24 hrs as it should...why pay extra staff for the night shift, why not keep the increased profits from increasing membership fees in the pockets of the 1% of the 1% who own the corporation...Why am I not using others?? Because others dont have a swimming pool and steam room and sauna which is my thing at the gym after iron...
