Called A1 Appliance Repair because we had a fridge in the garage that the fan was kicking on and off repeatedly and thus was not cooling efficiently. It was still freezing but it just took longer. They did arrive on time, but that was the only positive. When the repair guy finished, he told me I needed a defrost control module and that he would have to price one out from a 3rd party. What he failed to tell me was that he had totally made the fridge completely stop working so that we had to toss everything out by the next day. Roughly about 90 dollars in meat that was unsalvageable. If had simply told us I could have transferred to another fridge we had thus preventing a loss. Waste of time and 85 dollars for us.
Two year old Maytag Dryer was making funny noise Id never heard before. Called A-1 and made appointment. A-1 kept their appointment time (even tried to give me an earlier time but I was not available). Tyler and Jeremiah were professional, courteous and on time! Funny noise was a small sock that was stuck. No more noise and dryer is running great. I would highly recommend A-1!
We had one of our refrigerators stop cooling. I placed a service call for repair and was told the technician could be there between 1 and 5. To our great surprise, the owner showed up at 10 am and was able to quickly diagnose and repair the refrigerator. The price was great too! I will definately be using A-1 Appliance Service again.
Kevin came out to repair my extra fridge (garage) and he was kind enough to squeeze behind a tight space to fix - versus requiring me to move an entire shelving unit. The next day, the fridge was still not cooling and Kevin came back out, on his day off, and fixed the issue at NO extra cost. My refrigerator is super cold and I am super happy!!!!
Called first thing in the morning and they were able to send someone out within an hour. Kevin our technician was able to get here quickly and diagnose the issue quickly. Were waiting for a part and should have this issue fixed soon. They worked with me on the price. Couldnt be more happier with their service. Thank you.
Tyler came to our house recently and recharged the Freon in our refrigerator-freezer. He was most courteous, professional, and exactly on time. The repair charge was very reasonable, but the best part was the smiling, upbeat service tech. Thanks to Tyler and A-1 Appliance Repair Service Company! We have utilized their services for years and have only the best compliments for them..
The technician visited our home a month ago and replaced a belt. Shortly there after the Dryer started making a terrible sound. Today the technician gets here and tells me we need a new thermostat. The thermostat was not an issue.He then says oh it must be the tensioner pulley( which is connected the the belt just replaced and often comes in a kit where you replace both parts simultaneously). This is all without ever hearing what was actually happening with the machine or letting it run to hear the squeaking problem. As a result, I paid for a second service call and the repair price quoted was substantially above pricing we referenced online. In spite of the recent service they were unwilling to compromise on pricing of the service and left the house without fully diagnosing the issue. I told him I was doing some quick research to see if it would be worth buying a new machine. After 30 seconds he said well are you going to do it I have stuff to do.The parting line was well you can use it until it breaks. Not very customer friendly and did not engender trust.
Honestly, I am incredibly disappointed with the tech that came to my house. We asked a couple of clarifying questions to learn about the repair, and the tech responded with, “Well, if you don’t want me to do the repair, I can just leave.” I don’t think a client should be spoken down to just for wanting to learn about the repair the service person will be performing. Furthermore, after paying an $80 fee for him to come out, when asked to help with a simple task, he gave us verbal directions to do it ourselves and walked out of the door. I would pick a different service provider.
I used them through Geek Squad. two times. Both times the technician had an attitude that was unbelievably horrible and seem to have a huge chip on their shoulders, very unprofessional and condescending. They both argued with me and talked over me denying everything I was trying to tell them what has happened.The first only fixed what he wanted to and left like he had a hot date. The second became very argumentative and told me he didnt know this refrigerator only Samsung, was here maybe 5 minutes and told me to call another company. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!!!!!!!!
I have used A-1 many times over the years for many appliances. I have always been extremely happy with with the level of customer service I have gotten! Recently my refrigerator was not cooling and I could not afford to replace it (refrigerators have gotten crazy expensive). The technicians Steven and Derek worked together to fix my refigerator and save all of my groceries, that of course I had just bought. I saved thousands of dollars that I can not afford. All of my interactions with A1 were as always easy and professional and they will always be my first call if something happens. I only wish I could call them for everything. 😁
I first want to say thank you for the excellent prompt and professional service by my technician Mr. Steven Faust. He was at my house within 30 minutes of me contacting him. He knew exactly what was wrong with my dishwasher and had the parts on his truck to get the job done. As quick as he got there was as quick as my dishwasher was fixed and he was gone. First I want to thank Steven and Michelle for being very responsive and performing a superb service to repair my refrigerator. Even when they didn’t have to, they worked with my home warranty company so I could get reimbursed for the charges. Also thanks so much for waiving the service call fee when we decided to have it serviced by you. It’s clear that your company values great customer service and we appreciate that very much.
The customer service is very helpful. The technician is very professional and does a great job at explaining what the issue is and how it will be fixed all done in a timely manner. I didnt have to wait for hours. Withen the hour the technician was at my door. As a customer I would recommend this company to a long term consumer.
Don’t use this repair company. I called and was quoted a 59 service fee, which would be waved if they fixed my oven. Well, first, the repair tech Steve was supposed to arrive between 9-1 - he finally arrived at 2:40. No apology, nothing. Once he diagnosed the problem he said he could not do anything until he got back to office on Monday - then rudely demanded I pay 69 for the visit. Not what I was quoted. When I called the office, the owner was even more rude. Still no apology for being 2 hours late or for mis-quoting service rate. I paid the 69 and was told I would receive phone calls with quote first thing Monday morning. No phone call Monday - I finally called myself at 2 pm - Steve returns my call later stating the part needed was discontinued in 2011. Blatant lie as I found the part myself in a 5 minute google search. Steve says he will call me back again. The next day I’m told they cannot find the part. As I previously stated, I found it myself on google. In addition, when the service tech came he took the hinges off my outdoor electrical box AND LEFT IT OPEN AND OFF THE HINGES WHEN HE LEFT!!! This is extremely dangerous and highly unethical as now anyone can get into my electrical panel. I will be calling CPS to report this.I think everything they did was suspect. This place is terrible.
Our experience with this company could and should have been much better than it was. We called them to come out and repair our washing machine due to a leak. Ashley answered the phone and had the technician, Derek, out there that day. He looked at the back of the washer, said the valves were leaking and that he would order them and have them replaced within 1-2 days. This took all of 10 minutes. He comes back in 2 days, spends 10 minutes putting them on, charges me $325, and leaves. We still have a leak. I called him to come back out, he starts the washer again, and then points to the drain line and says, theres your problem, looks like a clogged drain, you should call a plumber. Seriously? The answer from the company that took our money to fix the leak, told us its our problem, not theirs. So we start wondering what we paid $325 for. We call the office, speak to Ashley, and she offers to refund our money back onto our credit card, however, we paid by check, so she said she would get with the owner, Jack, to see how he wanted to handle it. 6 WEEKS PASS where we call every week to get an answer on how they want to handle it. We were very cordial, did not get irate on the phone, just patiently waited for the owner to get back to us, as was TOLD TO US by Ashley. Finally, I speak to another person named Michelle, tell her the situation, and she says shell pass along the information. That same day, I receive a confrontational call from the technician, Derek, stating that we were not getting a refund, our valves were leaking, and that there was not going to be any refund of any sort. I asked him to calm down, as we were not trying to get something for nothing, we were just following up with what was TOLD TO US by his company. Now why would Derek be the one calling us, angrily, and not the owner? Why would Ashley repeatedly tell us that the owner was given the message and we never received a follow up from the small business owner? Why would we be told we were getting a refund and then never receive contact? Why would we call every week on something that was not going to happen? This company represents a poor excuse of the how a small business should operate. The owner either does not care how his customers are treated or he (Jack) does not know. Either way, horrible customer service and would not recommend this company to anyone.
I would not recommend this company. Our refrigerator stopped making ice & A-1 sent Steve. They informed me of the $95 trip fee, which I accepted. Steve arrived late, very short and rude attitude. I was asking questions & he was rude and not polite to try to answer questions. We discovered mold around ice dispenser when the icemaker stopped and asked if he could provide service to clean to which he responded We dont do that I asked how could we safely take it apart to clean it. He said Leave it. Not caring that our health was in jeopardy if we didnt get the mold out should have been enough to ask him to leave, but he quickly opened freezer removed panel ignoring me, looked at ice maker literally less than 2 seconds & said Yes you need a new ice maker. Without taking it out, without examining it, without checking any other connection or switches or water line. Told us he couldnt come back until next day. Arrived several hours late again. Changed out icemaker assembly in 5 minutes. Said It hasnt filled with water yet but I guess it will Then charged $475. 5 days later still no ice & was not about to call this company again. So I found & called CNSC Appliance Repair yesterday, they came this morning, on time, and did an actual diagnostic check that we didnt get with A-1. The REAL problem ended up being a broken wire in the electrical connections in door. Only $89 repair in about 40 minutes. Within a few hours we had ice again. Expensive lesson. I should have made Steve leave and not allow him to continue with such rude, dismissive behavior. I hope at least by sharing my experience I might save someone else the expense, inconvenience, and unpleasant experience we had.
On suggestions by my neighbors I contacted A - 1 Appliance repair for my fridge. The tech was very professional and was able to find the issue. He did not have the parts on hand ( Control board) and had to go all the way back to San Antonio to get it. Here is what was top notch service, he told me he would be back at 4pm, but he came back 1 hour later and had everything installed in 45 minutes. My fridge is repaired and ready to last another 6 years. I highly recommend.
How is there a 4 star review here??? Rudest appliance repair company Ive ever seen...dont bother calling them. Ive never seen a repair service or vendor park in someones driveway LIKE THEY OWN THE PLACE...It was the rudest 20 second conversation because I didnt have the refrigerator plugged in. If they werent so ARROGANT I would have waited since it isnt our main refrigerator. We even emptied the fridge and removed the black plate inside to help the service man...he was upset because I had a neon light and trophy sitting on top of the fridge...really...?
Jack came out and diagnosed the problem with our ge fridge in minutes. Ordered the parts and gave me a technique to figure out which unit on the appliance may be failing by covering up a vent in the freezer section. Our bottom half of the fridge was freezing everything--not good. He came out with the part and its running great now.Excellent company and we have used them in the past as well.
Huge thanks to Michelle who gave me EXCELLENT advice regarding the problem I described. It worked!So grateful. Know who to call next time.Jack is my hero TWICE over!! First with my refrigerator, then my washing machine!! So, so grateful to him and Michelle for saving me thousands of dollars. Bless you both.
On Jan 20 of this year, A- 1 sent an Technician over to check my Refrigerator.The technician informed us that we had a bad compressor and that it will cost $800. The refrigerator is two years old and I thought it was a little expensive so I asked the technician to forget it. A friend recommended a technician the gentleman came over and informed us that it was in fact a bad compressor but the good news was that the compressor was under factory warranty. And that we would cost us $260 for labor. A-1 should have known that the compressor was still under warranty , they should have made the same suggestion will never trust A-1 again.
Technician made his assessment of my washer and dryer (charged me $35 to glance at the washer and tell me it cant be fixed, and then said it would cost $325 to fix the dryer door switch, (the switch costs $10.....and its a 20 min job......I had had the switch repaired previously by another company last year and they did the job for $110. I found the invoice for that and A-1 said they couldnt price match it, so A-1 charged me $75 to tell me they are going to charge me 300% more for a simple dyer rapair, than the last guy I had, and $35 to tell me the washer cant be fixed. WOW WOW WOW-----really bad business practice yall
The technician was able to come quickly which was very important to us. The tech was very polite and informative though the problem wasnt resolved immediately. We talked with the company and they went above our expectations to remedy the issue. We will use the business again should the need arises.
They came out only to charge $69 to tell me the compressor went out on my 3 year old LG refrigerator. $800 - $1200 to fix it. I called another company to compare price and they told me to call LG it is still under warranty. I wish this company would have told me when I called them and I would have saved $69 service call.
It took them a week to get us on the schedule and when they did we had to be ready that very day between 1 and 5. At 5:00 no technician had shown up and when called back they said they forgot to give the technician our ticket. There are many other choices in San Antonio so no need to waste your time on this one.
I’m a repeat customer, however I’m greatly disappointed. I was given two different times the Technician was supposed to show up. I didn’t get a called or text. They just didn’t show up. The poor customer service the person on the phone was rude. Unfortunately I won’t give them any ⭐️ This company has lost 😡 a customer.

2022-08-01I called this company and the owner Jack came out to my house. They charge $99 for the service call, and if you decide to do the recommended repair, they apply that to the cost. My ice maker wasnt making ice. My brother was there with him, while I spoke to him over the phone. He said I needed to purchase a new motor. and quoted me $400+. I was hesitant to do so since I could buy a countertop ice maker for half the price. He told me to think about it over the weekend and let him know since he has to order the part. Friday night while researching the refrigerator online, I found a video that said the ice maker tends to go out due to the wires underneath the door getting ripped/torn every time you open the door. My brother spliced them back together and guess what? My ice maker now works. No new motor needed!! I tried calling the owner back the next day, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and then Thursday morning. He finally returned my call Thursday afternoon. When i explained to him the real issue, he said great, glad your brother fixed it, then he got belligerent with me, and started talking over me. He said to call him if I ever needed help with anything else (obviously being sarcastic) I responded by saying that I would make sure to leave reviews so that the City of San Antonio could be aware of his fraudulent repair services. He then said he would sue me for defamation if I left him a bad review. Sir, you quoted me for a new motor that i did not need. You tried to say that that its all one piece. LIES. You never even looked at the area where the wires are located to make a correct diagnostic. Definitely do not recommend this company for any repair service.

2022-03-23A-1 Appliance Service did a great job fixing my ice maker on my 27 year old Amana refrigerator. Jack found the problem immediately. He replaced the defective parts and even cleaned the coils underneath the fridge to ensure the fridge would continue to cool properly. He did all this for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend A-1 Appliance Service in the future.

2022-07-23I called A-1 Appliance to have someone come out to look at my dryer because it DIED. I had just used it and it was fine. Tyler came to my house. He not only identified the problem; he had the part with him! He fixed my dryer and was out within 30 minutes. Im a happy camper! Hope you stay with A-1, Tyler.

2022-09-03A technician came out and repaired my dryer. It worked for a day. He said the issue was my vent, even though I it cleaned before he showed up. Then said the only way his labor would be under warranty was to buy they part through him this time. He said he would order it and call me when it came in to schedule reinstall. He never called. I had it repaired through another service. Well, he finally called like 4 months later. I just had had to warn customers.

2022-08-20I called at noon on a Friday and was promised that a technician would arrive before 5 pm. Travis called at 4 pm, arrived by 4:30 and had us back in business in an hour. What more can you ask?

2021-12-29I had A1 repair my drier. They went out of their way to find the last heating element in Texas. Because of COVID there are no parts available but they found the part. They are so friendly, professional, and efficient. They also came to fix my drier immediately. I honestly do not think my drier would have been fixed if I had called another company. They will be my forever appliance repair company.

2021-09-30I can’t say enough good things about A-1 Appliance Service. The ice maker on our 21-year old refrigerator died. We fully expected that parts would no longer be available and were prepared to let it stay dead. Not Jack at A-1. He methodically sleuthed the problem, found the parts, and charged us a very reasonable price. Result: one resurrected ice maker on an otherwise perfectly serviceable and (until now) completely reliable refrigerator. There is some truth to, “They don’t make ‘em like they used to.” Jack and A-1 Appliance Service saved us a lot of money by helping us fix what we already had. They are our “go-to” company for appliance repair. We highly recommend they be yours too.
