Delightful museum! The permanent collection of Asian art is quite nice and the textile exhibit up during my visit was wonderfully varied and well curated. The Art Space is also lovely and would be a nice place to spend some time in to draw or allow kids to engage in creative activities. It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to see everything.
We absolutely had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and absolutely went out of their way for us. I typically avoid Museums of any kind given my service dog and I are typically not welcomed, but this was a complete opposite then how I am typically treaded.Although the law forced others that let me in I have never felt comfortable. This place is highly recommended. The whole family truly enjoyed the experience.
First time at the Amarillo Museum of Art. It was a delightful experience. Particularly went to see the Cut up/Cut out exhibition. Admission is free. Went there on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet so it was nice to walk around and view the art in peace. Nice facility and accommodating staff.
The Amarillo Museum of Art has a very nice schedule of exhibitions and lectures on various types of art. One need to go on the Web Page for their schedule of events and hours. The Ladd lecture series is very good and recently the Open Road was a step in the past. Prices are reasonable. Displays are always different and full of variety. I am amazed at all of the local artistic talent. I really enjoy when the students are displaying their talent.
One of our favorite places in town. Truly a fantastic museum with wonderful world-class permanent collection and top notch visiting exhibitions that would be welcome at any art museum in a larger city. It gets even better with free admission and warm and welcoming staff. Your decision to visit the AMoA will not be one you regret.
So, while Id like to applaud the museums latest effort to be consciously environmentalist, Im not quite sure how pro-environmentalist a museum can be when it waves the green flag in one hand but opens its other hand to sponsors whose businesses are, at the very least, problematic for the environment, and bad as it gets for animals, needless to say. Some kind of cognitive dissonance is going on here, lol.
The Asain and Camboduan exhibit was really awe inspiring. It was as if the Buddha heads were totally at peace and ready to expose the secrects to life and existence at any moment. I wish there was more to see there from other places and periods of time, but all in all a great plaxe to spend a few hours alone or on a date.
The Amarillo Museum of Art, located on Amarillo Colleges campus, is a shining diamond of arts for the Texas panhandle. You will be surprised by quality and variety of the seasonal exhibitions, as well as the permanent collection of Asian art in the Price Gallery. Offering more than just art on the wall, you will want to check back often for the special openings, lectures, and parties. They offer something for the entire family; childrens art lessons to late night openings featuring food and drink.Dont miss out!

2022-01-16This is a nice little museum and it is free admission! They have quite a collection of sculptures and statues from Southeast Asia. I wouldnt have expected that from such a small museum. It was pretty neat though! Aside from that, the rest of the museum still had a decent variety for how small it was. I spent about an hour here, but you could get through faster. I was the only person there too, which was surprising. Overall, worth a stop in my opinion.

2022-05-31It’s a quick tour of 30-45 mins, has 2 levels. It’s for free. There are ample spaces for parking and has restrooms as well. Has small library. There are lot of broken statues of Indian gods which is sad, there are bronze statues of Ganesha, Natrajar etc. Front desk associate patient enough to say about museum. Must visit if you are around Amarillo.

2022-03-20Very nice art museum. They change out their art pieces periodically. They have a section that allows you to draw your own art. They also have times of the year where you can bid on art pieces for fundraising. Very enjoyable for something a little different.

2021-12-12AMOA is free but suggested $5 donation. Gentleman at the entrance greeted us and informed us some of the art had nudity or offensive words. There are three levels which you go at your own pace. Small art museum but worth the visit while in Amarillo. The homes in the surrounding area are also worth a drive.

2021-03-07Great little art museum with mostly rotating exhibits. Top floor has some really nice Asian art, most of the rest were paintings and a few sculptures. I had a nice talk with the docent about the area and got a piece of art (a little felt creature) out of the art-o-mat, which was fun!

2022-05-15Went to try and find the Georgia O’Keefe and didn’t find it but they had a poster of a print of hers. There was also a student art show going on of local students that was really cool. Love a free museum

2022-05-16Very talented group of professors and students jump right in and their growth is very much rewarding. They tend to move on to four year institution to complete their journey!!

2020-03-05A small but well kept art museum. They only have 1 permanent exhibit (Asian art) so you can keep coming back to see whats new! They have childrens classes and even a little inspiration studio for kids with mini projects to create.
