Love this store. Great prices, great records. However, one star down due to walking in and getting NO greeting from the girl sitting at the front doing nothing. People walked in after us and were warmly welcomed, though. I’ve worked in customer service for many years... it’s not hard to make your customers feel appreciated for coming into a business. Still will shop here, I just hope this feedback helps understand from a customers point of view
If you are looking for an old vinyl this is the place to find it. I love looking through the old rock vinyls here. You can look for hours and not even get half way though all that they have. The prices are really good too. My only complaints are the lack of a new vinyl section and parking.
This is an Austin treasure run by people that love and play music. I cant say enough nice things about the staff. They have some of the best selections in blues, texas, rock, and local Austin bands. We need to support out local businesses. And they have a new website that makes it easy to order and because of Covid, they are offering pick-up.
Stumbled upon this place after lunch. Its on the smaller side but still had a ton of choices. I didnt get to spend as much time as Id like but there was a lot of diversity genre wise. I also really appreciated the locals section. Since Im just visiting I wanted to snag some local music to check out at home and the woman who helped me was really informative and friendly even though I caught her on her way out. I wish I remembered her name to give real props though. Glad I listened to her recommendation though the album is great!
Great record store with a great selection, if youre not looking for something in particular. I buy exclusively jazz albums and this isnt the place where you can find original pressings from some of the most well-known labels, but its a good spot to pick up a cheap record to try something new. That being said, Im continually surprised by the excellent selection and quality of 45s at really great prices.
Im a music nerd and this place is heaven. I went to a bunch of other record stores and all were really friendly, welcoming and knowledgable but here is where I found gems Id been looking for, for years - and at very, very reasonable prices. Is now one of my most favourite used record stores in the world.
Not quite as crazy expensive as Waterloo, but dont count on finding much interesting music or new stuff here. Really lacking on jazz, electronic, or classical stuff. If it doesnt involve a guitar youre probably not gonna find it here. If thats what youre into, youll probably be fine. This isnt some Mecca for music lovers. No AC, or at least not on when I go, so expect your records to have a few drops of sweat on em when you go to throw them on your turntable.
Focusing more on old country/blues and local Texas flavor, Antones still has a ton of great stuff in it. The prices are average to slightly high, but the selection is great if you like a lot of country and blues. I actually found a random Argentine tango LP there that was 2 bucks and fantastic. I also bought a Louis Prima LP. The rock section is like all the others - lots of chintzy 70s and 80s kitsch. The 45 section is well organized by artist and music type, making it easy to find a 45 you want to get. The whole store is superbly organized, more than most others. If they dont have it, you dont have to troll through the stacks looking for it. Youll know instantly. That helps a lot. Id definitely add this to my record-hunting rotation.
Got Aerosmiths Pump for 2.99, Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge 2.99, and Alice In Chains Greatest hits .99c. Plus, the stoch has great old school mixed with select newbies. When Im having a bad day I stop in and check the racks. Antones Records gets me rockin and rolling again.
Without a doubt, Antones Records is THE blues shop in Austin, Texas for decades. Huge choice of CDs and LPs. Eve Monsees (an excellent young blues guitarist, who plays in a band in Austin) at the counter, will give you some great advice ... she knows what shes talking about! Many live sets in a corner of the shop. In the past, Clifford Antones former club, the famous Antones club, was right in front of the record shop.

2021-12-15Cheap CDs, great record selection, very friendly and helpful employees. Lots to love here. Continues to be a true Austin gem even after so much has changed in our fair city. Still run as a small town high quality record shop. Much respect.

2022-08-02What an amazing record store!I visited twice while in Austin for a week. On the first visit the staff engaged as soon as i entered the shop and then i ended up in a 15 minute conversation about psych music without anyone trying to sell me anything.Trust me, these people are enthusiasts! On the second visit i met the owner. I asked for some recommendations and he took 30 minutes out of his day to enthusiastically play me some killer garage rock singles. He also did me a deal on my purchases. How i wish this place was my local store!

2022-07-30An Austin standard, a record store for ppl who really know their music. Any place, esp this size, with several James Booker records, somebody there knows their music. Pretty unique selection of obviously Texas and Austin-centric music, but also reaching into the bayous and New Orleans very effectively, good smattering of new and old vinyl, old 45s and even a selection of 78s. If youre an affectionado this is the kind of place you could spend hours mining their selection. The kind of place you kind of have to cut yourself off after a while or it could just get away from you and get expensive. Hard to find a record store this good anymore

2021-02-28Found this little gem while out and about and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of inventory and variety they have for sale. Awesome staff and great selections on a wide range of genres. The one thing I personally like is there are many many labels of bands in the toes of records. This makes it easy to locate a specific band and I found 4 albums with ease. Ill be back for sure .....cool place.
