Native Austinite and adoring dog mom here. We’ve been going to ATX Animal Clinic for years, long before Dr. Rob took over. We loved the vet who used to own the clinic (he retired), but we learned that Dr. Rob was just as talented, detail oriented and compassionate as his predecessor. Dr. Rob and his team are amazing. Our dogs are always excited to arrive there, probably because they’ve come to associate the clinic with various kinds of relief (and treats). These people truly care. They work so hard to treat all their patients like family. They know our dogs’ unique health challenges, personalities and idiosyncrasies. This is a wonderful place. You can trust them with your pet’s care.
Great veterinarian Dr Rob. My little Yorkie had surgery and he did a great job and she is recovering nicely. All the staff and techs there were super nice and helpful, which is appreciated at such a stressful time.Trusting your fur baby and companion is a big deal so I am glad to find Dr Rob.
I love ATX Animal Clinic! I have only had to go a handful of times as a new pet owner but they are always great about answering questions.Once I had written down the wrong appointment time and was sure Id have to reschedule when I missed but they were able to squeeze me in! Not sure of everyones title but the people who take your payment, the nurses who do the preliminary check in, and the vet that I met with were all nice and knowledgable as can be.
I absolutely love this clinic and have really loved our experience with Dr. Robert. We had wonderful compassionate care, thorough explanations and help, and so much more when our cat started to suffer with kidney problems that lead to cancer. Dr. Robert and ATX Animal Clinic exceeded our expectations on what a vet and clinic provides through hard times when caring and losing a loved one. We cant wait to come back here with our next beautiful family member. We live across town and have no problem going out of the way to come back here. Definitely recommend!
All I can say about this places doctor Harris is truly a dog whisper. He treated Fiona with the up most respect. Im not exaggerating when I say that Fiona hated going to the vet Marion area but after meeting doctor Harris, she left there with her tail wagging. He is a great human being. Thank you for existing doctor Harris.
Dr Rob is awesome! I have been taking my puppy here since I got her and have always had a great experience. The staff is attentive and it feels like they really care. A few months ago my boyfriends elderly dog became ill and we brought him to ATX Animal Clinic for a second opinion. Long story short, it was terminal and it would be the best for him to put him down. Even though we lost a family member that day, the experience was still good. I could tell Dr Rob was choked up when he gave us the news over the phone and I could tell how much research and thought he had put towards this before coming to the necessary conclusion. When we went back to the office, the team put us in one of the waiting rooms with a window, with the lights dim and a candle lit. They gave us candy to give Frank (so he could enjoy his last few minutes with us) and they gave us all the time we needed to be with him before the next step. The team put blankets down and made our last few minutes with him safe, cozy, and comfortable. They explained every step of the process and how the final bill would work. They even let us pay ahead of time so that we could leave as soon as we said goodbye to Frank. Saying goodbye to a pet is never easy, but the personal touches the staff provided made it so much easier.
We absolutely love this clinic, the staff is all wonderful and professional. We had to make the difficult decision to put our 16 year old Petey Bear down today. We are so grateful for Dr. Rob and all his help. Also, his kind and helpful words were very much appreciated.
Realized that I had not reviewed this place yet. They are such a great clinic. Responsive, professional, and just nice people. Every staff member is very courteous, and Dr. Rob is caring about his patients. We had a problem with our last Cat that turned out to be terminal, and Dr. Rob was very helpful and empathetic with helping me figure out the options and prolonging her life as long as it was comfortable. He listens to what you have to say and you can tell he not only genuinely cares about the animals welfare, but also takes into account the owner and their situation as well. Im very lucky to have found such a nice place to care for my cat.
Im a truck driver and recently moved home bad to Austin. This place was highly recommended from a local friend. They did not disappoint. They were super friendly and helpful. The doc even told me that all the tests I was asking for on my old man pup werent necessary. I asked to proceed anyway since I wanted to have a complete baseline since hes almost 14, but I appreciated them trying to save me some money. She also understood that Im on the road and cant always get in to pick up his meds so she gave ame extra to have on hand. I am supper appreciative of their understanding of my unique work situation and how accomadating they were.
This is sort of a mixed review. I felt like my dogs received good care, but I overheard some remarks by the vet technician about how my dogs were ugly pugs, they are actually Brussels Griffon, which the other vet tech tried to explain to no avail, and the comment was repeated. I had to decide then that I couldnt go back to this clinic when they employ such a judgmental and uninformed technician.
Dr. Rob and his staff are fantastic. My family recently adopted our first dog and we needed a new vet right after Austin went into its first lockdown. We were certain nobody could fit us in, but ATX Animal Clinic was ready and willing to help us immediately. Since then theyve been an invaluable resource during a really tough time. Everybody on staff is professional and kind, and Dr. Rob always seems to have time to answer my questions and offer advice. Im so happy we found them!
Rob is really awesome!! He always explains things and takes time to make my kitty cats feel comfortable. He also asks all the right questions and checks in on everything and not just the one issue or shot I came in for… super helpful cause I always forget something while I’m worrying about my pets 😅
Dr. Rob and his entire staff are a phenomenal team! Our two senior dogs have been patients of ATX Animal Clinic for a few years and they have always received top notch medical care (routine vaccinations, minor emergencies, surgery, allergies, etc.), delivered with the utmost affection and efficiency. When their office doesnt carry the prescription medication we need they refer us to an affordable online service. Everyone is always super friendly and helpful, especially Dr. Rob, who takes his time explaining diagnoses and treatments in detail and never seems to be in a hurry to move on to the next patient. Five stars earned just for that, if you ask us! Since the start of the pandemic everyone at the practice has been exceedingly accommodating with phone consultations and curbside service. We once took one of our dogs in for minor oral surgery. When Dr. Rob called to tell us it all had gone well, he also said he had noticed a small growth in Kashu’s paw during the surgery and made the decision to remove it right there and then in order to avoid an additional visit that would require anesthetics again. When we picked her up, she even had her nails trimmed! And we received *no surprise/extra charges in our bill at all* —not even for the stitches on her paw! He saved Kashu another stressful appointment and saved us a lot of money. Our latest consult illustrates perfectly how caring and honest this practice is: Kashu recently received an advanced cancer diagnosis. Dr. Rob referred us to an oncologist and is guiding us through the options for palliative care. He has offered the ideal balance of humane medical care for our beloved pet and respect for what is financially viable for our family. We cannot recommend ATX Animal Clinic enough!
We just love this clinic. Dr. Rob and his entire staff have been wonderful. They helped us with a traumatic incident with our beloved cat when he was killed. They are willing to see our neurotic dog and handle him with care (other vets have refused to work with our dog). And theyve been wonderful with our newest family member and helping us manage his FIV+ status. Couldnt recommend them more highly!
Receptionist was nice, cool under pressure, and understanding of my frustration; 5 stars. Shed JUST figured out what had happened to cause the confusion and Id literally *just* started apologizing to her (for saying something like why in the hell is. . out of frustration) when the doc (or docs assistant?) - who I give 1 star - came barging-in interrupting me mid-apoloogy while behrating me and got in my face *demanding* I apologize . . which is the quickest way I know to get me to STOP an apology (!) . . so I just gave her 5 stars review, here. Too bad he couldnt hold on to his neurotic outburst just maybe TWO more seconds and he would have heard the (rest of the) apology in progress . . but apparently I triggered him and he just-couldnt-wait . .Turns out theres another clinic that Id done business with before that had a similar name when this occurred (as the receptionist acknowledged) and when I googled it, it led me to THIS clinic (ATX Animal Clinic) instead, thus the confusion ensued. (I suspect maybe auto-correct may have been involved . .)Sorry doc/assistant, Ill pick another name for you next time . . my bad. Meanwhile, plenty of other vets around . . in fact thanks for driving me to your competition thats even closer to me where Ive had nothing but good service and no issues whatsoever. So again, thanks!
We took our dog Onyx in last week after reading all the great reviews. This is the 1st review I have ever left for a company, and well deserved! We rescued Onyx from Florida, he had terrible ear infections, he was skin and bones, and had skin issues. Weve been to other vets for our other dog and we figured this vet would be the same.. Try to sell you products to treat a problem that never existed. BUT ATX was not that, they are amazing. They told us exactly what Onyx needed and a week later he is an entirely different dog. Sp, thank you ATX, youre all so amazing.
The whole team at ATX Animal Clinic is professional and kind. We only went there for about a year before our 11 year old dog needed to be put to sleep due to cancer. They made a very difficult time better with their kindness and compassion. When we decide it’s time to bring home another pet we won’t hesitate to go back.
Dr. Rob is hands down the best vet I’ve encountered. My little King Charles Spaniel, Ramsey, needed a lot of dental work/extractions and Dr. Rob took such good care of him! He and his staff even followed up the next day to make sure Ramsey was doing okay. Genuine love and concern for our pets is all you can ask for in a vet and we’ve found that with Dr. Rob at ATX Animal Clinic.
My wife and I have been taking our cats here for years, back when Dr. Harris was still practicing. Everyone that works here, including Dr. Rob, are absolute gems. They treat my cats like theyre own, the pricing is fair, and I always feel comfortable calling just to ask a question.10/10 would vet again (but dont tell my cats that).
Our dog Penny has been to ATX a few times throughout the past year or so for check-ups and a torn ACL. Dr. Rob takes time to listen to your concerns and is super knowledgeable. The front staff is prompt, friendly and helpful. They dont push procedures but rather educate you on options and let you choose without judgement. Penny has been to many veterinarian offices throughout her lifetime due to us moving, and each time she would be anxious and tired afterward. Not with ATX! She must love everyone there because she is always calm and happy when she leaves. Penny gives her paw print of approval!
Do not bring your pet here. I have heard from others that this is no longer a safe clinic and I agree. The medical training is not sound, bedside manner is nowhere to be found, and customer service is abominable. We had gone to Dr. Harris for nearly 5 years. On our last appointment, a new doctor met with us. We were not alerted that there was a new veterinarian nor that Dr. Harris was retiring. The new vet., who didnt introduce himself, examined a cut on my dogs ear. After being in the room for 5 minutes, and without reading through our file, asking many questions, listening to me, or TAKING A BIOPSY, the doctor announced the wound was likely malignant cancer. He said a portion of the ear must be cut off and then the lab would determine what further action was needed to combat cancer. I was stunned because my dog is in good health and because no tests were done to support the determination. I let the front desk know how shocked and upset I was and chose to not take the recommended action. I asked the technician to have Dr. Harris call me to discuss.Dr. Harris called the next day to follow up. I returned his call 15 minutes later. Nearly a month later and Dr. Harris has not returned my call.We went to another vet for a second opinion. They gave us an ointment and the cut is healed completely. When I mentioned the cancer diagnosis, they were floored.Do not trust this clinic with your pets health.
After requesting records from a few years ago to send to our pups health insurance company, the new owner called to follow up with myself and my husband based on the notes that were on the previous records. My husband and I were unaware of these notes until receiving the records, and I believe Dr. Rob had not seen them either. The records from years ago were not an accurate representation of the new staff and new owner. Despite us not being into the clinic since the previous visit, and a complete change in staff, the new owner, Dr. Rob, took the time out of his day to give me a call. He was very professional, and did everything he could to make sure we feel well taken care of.
Dr. Rob and his staff are the friendliest and sweetest people, I have only taken in my cat twice now but each time they knew exactly who we are and helped us out so fast. I have taken my cat to many vets and she never seems to get better, but this is the first I actually feel and see my cat getting better! I can’t thank them enough!
This veterinary clinic is AWESOME! We just brought our cat to ATX Animal Clinic for the first time. Let me preface this by saying our cat is the WORST traveler. Cats are bad travelers, but our cat is really bad. We usually have a mobile vet see him, but we werent having much luck in the mobile vet diagnosing what was going on with him. He was very wobbly and hes older, but nothing seemed to be helping. On the way to ATX Animal Clinic, he was trying to get out of his carrying cage in the car - he somehow managed to fracture a claw and cause puncture wounds on his mouth. By the time we got there, his mouth was bleeding and there was blood everywhere. We were very panicked, and Chris, the Vet Tech, saw him right away, was so attentive, and helped us calm down too. They call him the Cat Whisperer and I think he is, because our cat is never happy being out of his home, and Chris really helped calm him down.Dr. Rob saw him very quickly after that, and I was amazed at how our cat responded so positively to him too. Dr. Rob did a full diagnosis and blood panel on him (we had done this fairly recently but wanted to do it again because nothing came back the first time), he did x-rays, and was very thorough. The diagnosis was arthritis, which shouldnt be surprising, considering his wobbliness, but he had been misdiagnosed many times by other vets, and the mobile vet who had been seeing him hadnt thought this was the issue. Dr. Rob is putting together a care plan for him, and were very happy we brought our cat here, after months of having no answers.Another thing that I thought was really great about ATX Animal Clinic is usually whenever we bring a pet to the vet, we have to wait a day or more for blood test results. But they were able to do the blood panel there and give us results in 20 minutes. Our cat may also have some beginning kidney issues.Everyone there is so incredibly nice and caring. And our cat liked it too!!! Our cat who hates being away from home, and particularly hates being at the vet, didnt want to leave!. He was actually taking a cat nap on the table, relaxed and happy as can be, while he was there.Totally the best clinic to take your pet in Austin. Great staff, great doctor, really nice & clean facility too... And their prices are so reasonable, another big positive. Best vet in Austin, no doubt...
Dr. Rob and his staff proved to be the best of the best when caring for our Yorkie, Abby. We were amazed at how much love and genuine concern that each team member gave to Abby when she was not feeling well. We want to thank everyone at Dr. Robs office for making us feel Abby is getting the best care Austin could offer. If you are looking for the greatest Animal Clinic, look no more, come see Dr Rob and his super team!Carson, Joanne and Abby Green are proud to be associated with ATX Animal Clinic!
ATX Animal Clinic is quite possibly the best veterinary clinic Ive ever been to.In short, theyve got a knowledgeable, patient doctor (Dr. P), amazing vet techs that absolutely love my high-energy 3 year-old pit mix, and the most organized front desk staff that Ive encountered.Im a relatively new patient, but it seems like everyone already knows my dog well, and have noticed how her behavior around other dogs has improved with every visit (wellness check, vaccinations, treating a nasty broken nail...)If youre looking for the type of doctor that will personally call you when youre worried about your dogs reaction to antibiotics (without making you feel stupid), vet techs that can seemingly keep any dog happy and calm while getting things done (no, seriously), and an efficient, compassionate front desk staff that somehow know your needs (records for doggie daycare and such) even before you do, ATX Animal Clinic just might be your best bet.
Dr. Rob and his staff are great! Brought in my new pup for an exam, he was kind, patient and not only answered the many questions that I had, but informed me of other things to consider in the future for my boys health that I didntt even think about. Definitely glad I found these guys!
Incredibly helpful and courteous staff, and treatments done on all of our pets showed immediate positive results. Dr. Pieratt treated pancreatitis for my dog and have him healed in less than 24 hours which other offices had been unable to treat until days later. He also took our family dogs leg injury and treated it immediately, and hes been healthy ever since. Not only are they prompt and accessible, but they truly care for the well being of your animals and will follow up to make sure the treatments are working. Best vets in Austin!
Dr. Pieratt is the most calming & professional vet I have ever interacted with. My Weimaraner naturally has high anxiety. The anxiety is typically worse at the vet, but not with Dr. Pieratt’s calm demeanor. Our first visit was an emergency case & quite a frightening experience prior to arriving to ATX Animal Clinic. Dr. Pieratt calmed both of us & immediately connected with my dog & myself, putting all our nerves to bed. He patiently walked through step by step the procedure & had a very professional caring bedside manner. I knew in an instant, my dog was in the right hands. He quickly proved to be highly educated & a people person too to gain my trust. We left as if the incident had not occurred. He truly made my dog feel safe after a traumatic experience. He even followed up post our visit to check in on her. At ATX Animal Clinic Dr. Pieratt and his staff never make you feel like a number.Since our initial emergency visit, we have been back several times for wellness exams, etc. I am always kindly greeted & my Weimaraner is happy (never anxious) when we come for appointments. It’s truly an animal clinic you can trust.
Awesome place. This was my first vet visit with my first dog and had my toddler with me. Everyone was super helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and informative. They seem like they all really love their jobs, animals, and were just really sweet. They were really accommodating to my daughter and helped me figure out some things with the groomer. Highly recommend this place!!
Dr. Harris is wonderful. He truly cares about your pet and their health. He is the best vet I have ever visited, and his staff is also really great. We moved recently and I needed a new vet quickly, and I am so glad and grateful to have found him. I highly recommend this veterinarian.
Dr. Harris and his team are the best. They provide compassionate, serious, professional and loving care. I happened upon Austin Veterinary Center when I moved to Austin and could not have gotten luckier. Please always let these guys know how much they are appreciated. From our home to yours, Dr. Harris and team, you are appreciated.
We went to see Doctor Robert with quite a serious problem and he was able to identify an obstruction, though it would not appear on xray. He performed a very successful emergency surgery. My puppy was back up, running, and happy less than a week later. Dr Robert has followed up post-op both on the phone and in the office several times. We could not have had a better experience.
New customer so I cant comment on the previous vet. I brought in my 15 year pitbull Boss today for his annual exam after his vet of 15 years raised their prices once again. It was hard to bring myself to switch vets after all of that time but after our first visit to AVC I have no regrets whatsoever.I was greeted at the front desk by a friendly gal who was courteous and happy to meet us. She took Boss weight and set us up in an exam room. A vet tech came in almost immediately and asked all of the standard questions, asked a few more specific questions, checked him over, made buddies with him and gave him a treat. A few minutes later Dr. Pieratt came in and introduced himself to us, got to know Boss a little bit, and then walked me through the exam process. He did a great job to put both Boss and myself at ease in a new place. With a 15 year-old-dog you never know when youre going to get that dreaded bit of bad news so it made a big difference for me to know that we were in such good hands, with people who genuinely care about both the physical wellness of the pet as well as the emotional wellness of the owner. His bloodwork came back a few minutes later, with all vital functions looking great. We were able to get his annual exam and allergy med prescription refilled all for about half the price of his former vet which was one of the larger clinics in Austin. I hadnt realized until now how much more I appreciate a smaller family-owned business as opposed to the bigger name brand get-in, get-out, pay-up type of corporate clinic where we had been going.I would recommend Dr. Pieratt and AVC to anyone who asks. I will be referring all friends and family after our visit today.Follow up: I brought Boss back in after a tumor scare. Luckily it was just a big air pocket due to bloating but once again AVC put us both at ease, getting us in that day and diagnosing it quickly. Weve had lots of vet visits in our years and none has been close to the service provided by AVC.
Honestly, I can’t say enough about these wonderful people. Dr. Rob and the staff always made me and my dog feel comfortable, even when it came to the end. These people are professional, yet empathetic - efficient, yet understanding. I will be using them for my next pet. Can’t imagine anyone better.
I recently adopted a 5 year old and took her to AVC to run tests and make sure she was taken care of regarding shots etc. Everyone at the clinic(front desk, techs, vet), from the second we walked in the door, was kind and helpful. They all showed empathy to my pup knowing that she was confused and nervous being in a new place with a new owner and made her feel comfortable. Dr. Pieratt was thorough and knowledgeable and answered all my questions and gave me great advice for how to help my dog make a healthy transition into her new home. I’ve already recommended AVC to my family and friends and will do so for anyone who asks in the future.
Incredibly friendly staff and costumers alike. The man at the front desk is so personable and helpful. I was taking my kitten in for her first booster shots, blood work, and treating her ear mites along with yeast infections in both ears. I was able to go watch my baby get her blood drawn in the back and meet the nurse. Theyre all so good to their animals. I was in and out in just over an hour despite their Saturday afternoon rush. I was also given a discount for my short wait! My first and last vet in Austin, I wont be taking her anywhere else!
The girl at the front desk is seriously so sweet and knowledgeable about the meds and products. The vet is very great with my crazy pitbull. She hates vets but oddly loves him. I ask 100000s of questions and they always answer them in detail. I feel very comfortable taking my pups here. And the prices really arent to steep.
Dr. Harris really knows his stuff. He was a therapist before becoming a veterinarian and it shows in his gentle but through approach to animal care and communication with animal owners. He easily could be an animal whisperer. He almost has a sixth sense as to the best way to work with animals and he will even first sit on the floor with your animal and get to know it for a bit before running through an exam. The process makes animals feel much less terrified of the whole experience. Hes really wonderful. The only negative are their hours and they take a long lunch break. That said, hes really good at what he does.
Dr. Harris and all his staff are friendly and truly love critters. I really appreciate the combination of care and practical advice. Dr. Harris provides the full range of care options but is great at telling you when leaving it alone is the best option. His attitude about our extra family members and his extremely reasonable rates ensure that we keep coming back so that our critters get all the care they need, when they need it and nothing they dont.
My pet got fatal drug reactions after a treatment only based on Dr Steve Harris assumption that no tests were performed to support (it turned out to be a wrongfully fatal assumption!), and received overdosing fluid and medicines, resulting in her wrongful death. Harris first ignored disease possibility that my wife brought up due to observation of my pets changed behaviors, and he performed neither blood tests nor image exam to verify the possibility. Then Harris performed non-sterile and in-humane actions that further harmed my pet. Harris mistakenly injected 3 fold overdose of fluid and medicines than what he said he was about to inject, resulting in my pet died painfully in front of my entire family few hours later. When we informed the death, Harris forgot my pets name and symptoms. We later found victims with similar patterns of medical behaviors occurred in this center involving death and/or permanent damage on animals. The Yelp page of this center is not trustworthy! It is highly manipulated in a non-ethical and dishonest way for business purpose- click into the link on the bottom of the yelp page that says currently not recommended by yelp, so you can see the most truly and awfully real experiences happened in this clinic that are blocked for paid business owners. (Some has been removed due to the fact of the reviewers previous employment by the center. Even though what the reviewer mentioned involved her own pets mis-treatment in this center) we regret that we did not find this fact earlier. Do not let your pet receive irreversible harm due to non-rigorous, irresponsible medical performance! It might be fatal!
We recently took our little chihuahua that we adopted from APA for a check up to AVC and it was hands down the best experience of our lives. The doc came out and sat down with my dog in the lobby and started talking to her and examining her..she didnt even know she had just been to the vet. He was super sweet to my kids as well listening to them prattle on about their new puppy. Thank you so much for such a great experience.
If you all are going to send collection notices to clients who have never even set foot in the building-when no prior attempt to collect on a debt that was surely paid YEARS prior has been made- then at least have the decency to call or email a client back when they are trying to resolve the issue. Personal email to the doctor-completely ignored. Email to the clinic-completely ignored. You had no problem running my card again though! What customer service...EDIT: I have a charge on my debit card from ATX animal clinic, so if we have not done business, then kindly refund that charge! And if by employment issues, you must mean wrongfully terminated and paid unemployment.
I went here with my dog after seeing my last vet twice with no relief as to what might be wrong with her. I will not talk bad about my last vet but after coming to AVC the staff was very caring, helpful, listened to all my concerns. I will continue to bring my dog here because she is in really good hands.
Ok I am not one to not give credit where due, and they did take great care of my cats both times when I needed them. But 3-4 times now over the past year Ive been emailed saying I owe them a good chunk of money and every single time Ive sent the proof back that I paid it. IMPROVE the bookkeeping PLEASE. If you send another email to me after Ive already sent you the proof several times, your email will be left ignored! It is not an appreciated heartattack to see an email in the inbox saying I owe a half of my check to a bill that I see Ive paid when I open it more fully.
Beloved family member brought in active but brought out inactive and dead in hrs. Review is about profession instead of how friendly they were. Objective facts are described as the following - Im not saying these are totally relevant/irrelevant to the death. One with instinct/knowledge may tell.My 10yr old cat was brought in due to reduced appetite and unstable back legs (she could jump up well but not down). According to the Drs expertise, the cat had healthy appearance, normal physiological body signs, reactive, and no sign of dehydration. The parent noticed reduced eating for 1.5 day and provided syringe feeding 30ml water and 15 pieces dry food before the cat was brought in. The cat didnt vomit after the parent provided feeding. The parent mentioned observation of pink-ish liquid suspected vomit on the floor 2 wk ago but not now. The parent brought up concerns about sign of kidney failure, but the Dr said he didnt think so, even though there was no any imaging exam nor blood tests performed. (Actually, exam table not set up; auscultation not performed in this visit, and body temperature not measured neither.)The Dr assumed the reducing of eating was due to leg pain. The Dr performed chondoprotect (originally for race horses)+Depo-Medrol injection and thought the cat would eat and behave normally in hours. When the parent asked, the Dr mentioned syringe fluid and food support could be provided if the cat was still not actively eating, and bring back to the vet if active eating did not occur in 24hr.However, 30min after chondoprotect injection, the cat developed heavy breathing and abnormally high heart rate, and literally stopped any movement, jumping, eating or drinking after the injection. The cat continuously had severe ejective vomiting through the whole night when parent providing syringe feeding food and water every 4hr since 7hr after injection. The cat was brought back to the center next day morning. The Dr now diagnosed her with severe dehydration condition that blood chemistry test was not able to perform at the moment. After parent brought up the breathing and heart rate issue, the Dr performed auscultation but stated that they didnt sound too bad.The Dr intended to subcutaneously inject the cat with 100ml fluid (mirtazapine, ondansetron, and vitamins in NaCl) for rehydration and anti-nausea purpose, but accidently squeezed 300ml into the 11lbs cats body within 10 minutes (by the Dr; in my opinion, too large amount change of body fluid in too short period of time according to the animals body weight). The Dr provided sterile equipment and fluid/medicine and prescribed home subcutaneous fluid injection 100ml per day for 5 days (should start on day3) and syringe feeding 3ml chicken jar/can every 6 hr by the parent. However, the cat developed even more heavier breathing and extremely low body temperature (35.3*c) 6hr after the fluid injected by the Dr, even when the heating pad was provided. The cat didnt move or walk at all and didnt urinated any liquid out after the Drs injection. The syringe feeding support was provided by the parent but the condition was not any improving. The cat became inactive and pale with third eyelid protrusion, and passed away the same night (12hr after the visit), therefore the parent didnt have a chance to utilize any equipment/fluid the Dr provided even once. The cat has never been sick within 10yrs and she barely needed to see a vet (only has attended vet clinic due to vaccines or flea/heartworm prevention treatment, she is an absolute indoor cat). Visiting this center is literally her first and last vet experience due to illness/discomfort.The Dr mis-spelled animals name in message conversation and not admitted. The yelp page of this business also tempts to remove/mask the reviewers negative opinions if the reviews were not stated by the ones who signed the pets in, especially if reviews involve animals deaths, even though they are obviously awfully true and real experiences happened in this clinic.
Remy Kofi was feeling sick,Found them on google and wasn’t disappointed on the expediency on getting him in & From the front of the office to the direct care & The Dr. were all professional, caring .Explained everything.Would definitely recommend and would want to call ATX Animal Clinic home for all of Remy Kofi medical needs....Thank you ATX Animal Clinic-Sooooo Much,A.Winn

2021-09-27We can never say enough great things about Dr. Rob and his amazing team! Theyve helped our cat Mikey through some tough times and helped us understand problems Mikey has with being an older cat (14). They always explain everything to us and give us plenty of options, I never really never feel pressured. Thank you for caring for Mikey!

2022-04-02Everyone is nice and friendly, but this clinic is a bit misleading. I chose this vet clinic due to the website stating that they are a full service vet that does surgery. I scheduled an appointment to have my dog’s bumps examined with the understanding that they would be able to surgically remove the bumps, if needed. I was told that the vet would have to do a $65 wellness exam prior to taking a sample from the bumps. I agreed to the wellness exam. During the visit, the vet completely skipped the wellness exam but I was still charged $65 for it. The vet only took a sample of the bumps so I paid $65 for absolutely nothing and $30 for the sample to be tested. In the end, I was told that this clinic does not do surgery and was referred elsewhere. I think the content on the website should be updated so that people are not mislead in the future. The vet should also complete the services that they charge people for.

2022-04-01Best vet office I have ever been to!! Quick and friendly service. Very attentive to dogs that need a little extra space, and dogs who are still learning manners. Very impressed

2017-11-03Dr. Harris is a great veterinarian! His offices are very welcoming, always clean and well kept. The staff is top notch and quick with reasoning and explanation. Dr. Harris assisted us in the passing of our last dog, a 17 year old pit/boxer rescue we had the privilege of spending 14 years with. It was so peaceful and he and his staff were so compassionate, I left there that day knowing I’d found my veterinarian. When it came time to add Ryker to our family there was only one place to take him. I highly recommend AVC and Dr. Harris to anyone looking.

2019-05-25They came highly recommended when I needed to see a vet on short notice. They were able to fit me in, on a Friday near the end of the day no less. I wont go into the details of the visit itself other than to say that the staff and doctor were efficient and very compassionate. I could tell they really cared about my pet and finding the best outcome for him on his tough day.

2021-10-30This is by far the best vet I have ever taken my older kitty to since I moved to Texas years ago. Staff is so friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about the comfort and health of your pet. Their prices are reasonable and their service is fast but not rushed. Dr. Rob is so patient and always listens to my questions and concerns. As long as I am in Austin I will always bring my kitty here!

2022-01-20I could not say more positive things about my experience yesterday. They were on time, kind, and handled my puppy very well. My puppy is very small, so I only wanted to the best vet for him. I did choose right with picking ATX animal clinic!

2021-09-04Dr. Rob and his team have been providing amazing care and support to our cats, including one with multiple health issues, for about 3 years now. Weve been through so much with our special needs cat during this time and we wouldnt have been able to help him stay well and stable for all this time without the care and support Dr. Rob has always provided. Were super appreciative of everything Dr. Rob and his staff have done to help us and our cats.

2021-11-16Took my puppy in for lame leg. Everyone on staff was so patient and loving and she was the calmest Id ever seen her at a vet visit. He was spot on with his diagnosis and puppy was walking better the very next morning. We decided to switch to make them our primary vets office.

2022-03-22I really enjoyed them at first — however I had two incidents where I asked them how much services were going to be, and they outright lied to me. They told me how much a portion of my bill was going to be, and then when I walked out I had additional charges for “phone consults” ($45) where I literally just called and asked if I could drop off samples they needed that day, and additional office visit charges (that were more than the vaccine itself) for boosters that took all of thirty seconds. Mind you my issue with this is that I ASKED THEM MORE THAN ONCE what I was going to owe for the visits, and they only told me the cost for a portion of my bill — not what they we’re actually going to charge me. So I went in for visits being told they would be no more than $30, and then walked out and was told I owed $80! Or $175 because of additional charges they add to the bill that they don’t disclose, even when I asked. I don’t appreciate being taken advantage of or lied to, especially when it comes to cost. SO BEWARE OF YOUR WALLET. :)Also I made this complaint to them directly, which is totally valid, because when I ask the cost of something why would you not tell me the actual cost? And they basically told me too bad so sad. So customer service skills are also severely lacking.
