As a pharmacist, I can truly say that this pharmacy is a cut above the rest. I have spoken to Tom and his entire staff, but most recently, I also spoke with Rudy and admire everyones professionalism, knowledge and passion for patient care. If you are in the Austin area, you really need to be using this pharmacy! If you are not, I guarantee that you are missing out on an opportunity to transform your life for the better. Quick, efficient, courteous, kind...always answer the phone.After reading some of the other reviews here, I felt compelled to come back in and add how DEEPLY grateful we were to find this precious pharmacy which so efficiently filled our doctor-given prescription for ivermectin---an incredibly safe and effective treatment for both parasites and virus.
I am recovering from a major operation I had on my neck. The pharmacists are knowledgeable and incredibly patient. I had a lot of questions about a new oral medication I had not taken before that tastes absolutely horrid. The pharmacists were empathetic and skilled in adding flavoring. Tom gave other suggestions for improving palatability. Very caring staff. Worth the drive!
The most unethical pharmacy I have ever encountered. They are actually trying to get people to take fake cures for Covid. DisgustingThe pharmacist responded to my review with a statement that I did not understand the science of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine. First I am a scientist. I have BS in chemistry and have worked for medical companies for 35 years. I have taken Hydroxychloroquine for malaria on many occasions. Second it is very suspicious that two drugs that are only effective on worms and amoebas, and have absolutely no affect on viruses, would be pushed by internet bots that could be run by Russian computers. It is like someone is laughing at us. No two drugs could be more unlikely to be used for Covid. Now the question is why would any pharmacist, many of which I went to school with and are honest people, would encourage their customers to take drugs that they absolutely know are ineffective. What really should be happening here is that this pharmacist should lose their license. Part of the pharmacist oath states — “I will consider the welfare of humanity and relief of suffering my primary concerns”. This pharmacist is an embarrassment to the profession.
The owner of this place publicly recommends ivermectin, a horse dewormer, against medical and CDC advice. Is pharmacy school the same as medical school? I think not, but yet this pharmacist is an expert on treatments that have zero basis in science so far.Its incredible that hes able to keep his license. Ill certainly never go to this pharmacy again and you shouldnt either.
If there were an option to leave less than a one star rating, I certainly would. As you can see on my Yelp page, I have not left a single negative review for anyone, ever. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. Please keep that in mind before reading this.My experience with Colleen and Tom was beyond unsatisfactory and much of it was due to Colleen, Toms office manager/girlfriend. I originally switched to Austin Compounding Pharmacy from Peoples RX because I was told that I would receive a 15% off exclusivity discount on my prescriptions through my healthcare provider.When I went to pick up my script one day, I walked into a shocking experience that I will never forget. When I asked Colleen if she could please confirm that my discount was added to my ticket, as she had forgotten to add it in the past, she sent Tom out to chat with me. He walked out fuming and completely lost his temper on myself on another client. He went as far as to yell at me for having a phone call on hold while I was in his presence. He then physically pushed a client who innocently tried to walk into the front doors, having no idea that the doors were locked for Covid precautionary measures. The poor guy was so caught off guard and didnt even know how to take it. He was clearly embarrassed and shocked all at the same time. I was in shock myself and left the pharmacy in tears. I had never been treated so aggressively, especially when it was so unexpected.My last and final visit to their pharmacy consisted of Colleen forgetting to add my discount AGAIN, and then claiming that they reserve the right to stop offering discounts due to Covid. I told her that the professional thing to do wouldve been to be transparent with clients rather than guilting clients for asking about their discount. She was SO rude. At this point, I realized there was no rationalizing with her. I proceeded to tell her that I would take my business elsewhere and would share my experience online. So, here it is. I own two very successful businesses in Austin and customer service is a HUGE priority to me. I was so disappointed in how I was treated at Austin Compounding Pharmacy and would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

I’m new to this pharmacy, went in to pick up my ketamine nasal spray a little over a mo th who and was absolutely blown away by Tom’s wealth of knowledge and super positive, helpful personality. I asked him about a health issue I was having and he not only gave me a ton of useful information but also recommended several doctors and gave me their cards. I was able to see Dr. Freeman @ Downtown Doctor and she was amazing...the two of them saved me a ton of time, energy and money by getting me the correct treatment the first time. I’ve told at least 10 people about Tom and this pharmacy...I’m so excited that I found them! They have the best selection of true HIGH QUALITY supplements I’ve seen in a pharmacy without all the clutter of other small and/or compounding pharmacies in town. I thought I knew a lot about natural remedies, supplements, etc but apparently I had only scratched the surface, they have a ton of supplements that I’ve never heard & that’s so exciting to me! I look forward to getting to know the staff more & learning about all the amazing products they carry & integrating them into my new healthier life..Thanks Tom!
Snake oil peddlers, trying to cash in on fake covid treatments. Either they are too dumb to follow the science, or they’re taking advantage of misguided patients. Unacceptable either way.
Awesome people here! They were so kind and friendly. If I wouldn’t have to drive to Austin, I’d choose this is my primary pharmacy. I will definitely use them to refill the prescription that they compounded for me this visit. Looking forward to seeing them every couple of months.
I have received ketamine therapy for the last three years. Not only does this pharmacy compound any necessary medicines with ketamine, but also has an incredible staff led by a fantastic pharmacist that takes pride in developing lasting relationships with customers. Highly recommend over people’s or any other mainstream pharmacy.
Austin Compounding Pharmacy is the best. They have deep expertise freely and go above and beyond to find answers when I need them. I get my pets medications there as well, and they always seem to know what medication is best compounded with which cat-approved flavor. Plus their prices are better than others for compounding, which I appreciate.
I love this place! I have been a customer for about 5 years now - They are great when it comes to all my many questions and treat you like you are their top concern -- I have had a horrid history with endocrine issues from thyroid to adrenal & all in between & Tom helped me as I was stressing out and trying to understand my new medications & how they would interact together - As I went thru my pregnancy they (Crystal is BEYOND Amazing, ask her anything & she will have answers, especially when it comes to anything pregnancy related) were a savior and always had the answers I was searching for -- I hands down recommend this pharmacy to all & I promise you I have tried out A TON of pharmacies all thru out Austin as well as Los Angeles
I have been a customer with Austin Compounding Pharmacy for 4 years now. The service I get from all of the employees is without compare. I live half a block away from a Walgreens and a CVS pharmacy...but i will take the 15 minute drive to Austin Compounding every single time I have a need for a pharmacy. I always find a smile from Tory(the cashier) and very good medication advise from Tom(pharmacist). I will take me business NOWHERE ELSE FOR LIFE!!!
Austin Compounding has removed their disabled parking claiming they are exempt from following state law. I showed up one weekday at 9:35 and they werent open because the pharmacist on duty was running late. Please note that one of the other five star reviews is from the owner/pharmacist.
Great service and super helpful. They were recommended for us for a compounded medicine for our cat because at that time they were delivering to our area. Even though they dont deliver to us anymore we still get the meds from them.
Hands down the best group of folks to work with. Caring and compassionate. They go the extra mile and take time to get to know there clients as well.
This place is more on top of my family’s prescriptions than me! They recognize us, know our names and make meaningful recommendations. We’ve moved to New Orleans and we miss the staff! There’s no place like it here...

2022-04-08Horrible customer service The younger guy in particular was so obnoxious I dont even blame him. His parents obviously failed him.If talking to insurance companies is so complicated maybe you should try a different career. I recommend one that has zero interaction with human beings.Im sorry that my daughters seizure medicine is a lot of work and we only make a few dollars from it

2018-09-15This is the ONLY custom compounding pharmacy, who offers such a diverse and vast selection of natural and pharmaceutical blends! There are very few pharmacies who can and do provide this level of service, professional but still makes the customer feel they are priority! I have yet to have a negative experience with any of the employees and Tom is by far the kindest, experienced and knowledgeable pharmacist I have met! I personally guarantee that they will meet, if not exceed, your expectations! Two thumbs up.

2021-11-13Most friendly, warm and caring pharmacy and staff! A friend recommended this pharmacy to me after me feeling disillusioned by the big box commercial chain pharmacies. I spoke with Ben who was so professional, friendly, caring and presented me with options to meet my prescription needs. He was able to transfer my prescriptions from a previous pharmacy and have them ready for pickup within 24 hours and saved me over $175.00!!!Thank you for supporting and standing up for individuals’ rights to choose medical treatment and freedom. 🇺🇸I will definitely be back!

2022-01-29This is a 5 star pharmacy. The 3.9 overall rating is not accurate. How do I know this? Just scroll down and look at the misinformed reviewers who still think Ivermectin is only used in horses and that Ivermectin is only used as a dewormer. 🤦♂️For the record and for the people in the back who still get their medical information from CNN: Ivermectin is also a human medication. Ivermectin is used for more than just worms. Ivermectin is effective at treating Covid. Just because the FDA, CDC, NIH, and Big Pharma do not approve of Ivermectin as an effective treatment against Covid does not mean Ivermectin does not work against Covid. Those organizations only push vaccines and expensive treatments because they want more money. They don’t care about science. They don’t care about your health. They just want money.For those who actually follow the science and not the money, they know that Covid is treatable. That’s why I’m thankful for the tremendous staff at Austin Compounding - they don’t cower to the pressure and lies of main stream media, big pharma, and big tech but they actually treat illness (what a concept, right?). 2022-01-24Worst customer service ever. My grandma who is 90 years old got COVID and its been a week tehy havent sent her medication. I called and the guy on the phone was horribly rude with me, because I did not tell them she was positive. Now, I dont know if I am getting my money back. Wooorse experience so far with pharmacies.

2022-02-13I came to this pharmacy under the recommendation of my new psychiatrist, Kellie Sue at Austin Family Mental Health. She was referred to me by a friend whod just come back from the pharmacy and had two really enlightened products in tow. One was Stamets 7, a blend of 7 medicinal mushrooms and a ketamine prescription.I went to speak to the owner Tom about what it would take to pass screening for my medicinal mushroom products and dopamine gut microbiome formula. He was super thorough. Then I asked for myself about what he recommended for constipation as I am 7 months pregnant and way struggling. My OBGYN had recommended Colase, which did nothing even after taking 12 of them. Tom said Aloe Leaf. I got 2 affordable boxes and am SO glad i did. The aloe leaf capsules, in conjunction w two Super Colon Cleanse capsules recommended by Amazon Plus a serving of homemade 15 bean soup have just saved my life.If you study botany, herbalism or holistic medicine, like i do, all these ingredients make a lot more sense than a gel capsule. Not even magnesium citrate would work for me.I swear i lost 4 pounds in the past 3 days.But more importantly was the quality ingredients they carry for mental health. When u set foot in the store, any trained neurobiology mental health professional would be excited.I would trust this pharmacy w any of my Alzheimers or dementia patients. If you, or someone you love, is suffering with gut issues, PTSD, brain fog, or even cancer, this pharmacy might just be your life savor!Oh, and there also wasnt a bunch of stupid vaccine pushing corrupt racket bs like at CVS or shelves full of candy and soda pop. I knew I was in the right place.

2021-12-19Absolute worst pharmacy ever!Surprising to see such a surly attitude in a small local business, but I guess they just dont care about customer service.Had been using them for a few years, possibly they were having a bad day. Thats really no excuse for treating a customer rudely ever. Unfortunately customer service seems to have disappeared lately. Its almost understandable with big companies who underpay people. Just hard to believe that a small company like this could care so less about treating clients nicely. Very sad really.

2021-04-30I had a complicated medication that required multiple steps to undertake before it could be used. Even with a thorough explanatory sheet of instructions, I missed a step along the way. Initially, I called to receive help and was warmly assisted. When I was wary of still not getting something correct, I took everything with me and went back to ask Austin Compounding for help in-person.The pharmacist could not have been more kind, gracious and informative. He stopped everything to assist me, reassured me and showed me how to do all the steps as he demonstrated them to me. I now know that my medication is perfect and feel empowered to do it myself next time. I cannot say enough about the beyond amazing customer service as well as knowledgeable pharmacists and staff at Austin Compounding. Consistently top-notch!

2022-01-19Dr called in order got a notice I need to pay online I did. Then called the office got an answering service girl takes my number tells me they will call back with pick up time. No call back. I call at 4 pm girl tells me something takes my number. No call no prescription. If your about to die and need your prescription don’t call this group cause your gonna die.

2021-09-07Do not use this pharmacy. They clearly cannot handle the stress of operating a pharmacy and further, are extremely unprofessional with their language and how they handle liaising with doctors.We use this pharmacy to fill our dog’s congestive heart failure medicine. We called in a refill on a Friday and still had not heard back on the following Tuesday. At first they said they could not locate our account, then after we gave them the prescription number, insisted they had not gotten our vet’s approval which was sent the best day after we called for the refill. When calmly asking for an explanation of what happened to the original vet approval, we were put on hold by the sales person who answered the phone and abruptly transferred over to the owner. The owner told us if we want our prescription today, he was going to charge us an arbitrary extra $100. Then accused us of arguing with the sales person even though we were simply asking for an explanation what happened to the original vet approval. At no point did we raise our voice or curse at anyone. The owner of this pharmacy told us they were “busy as shit” with COVID related work and then again said if we wanted it filled today (five days after we called it in) he would demand an extra $100 from us. We are currently looking for a new pharmacy to fill I’m the vital prescription for our dying dog as we are fully out of the prescription despite calling it in with enough time not to run out.
