My son has been with the AKA family for over three years now. He loves Master Alejandro and the fun and motivation he brings to the class. Master Mukherjee has been great guiding our son from a White Belt to a Red. A definite recommendation to everyone wanting to bring self control and discipline to their kids and themselves!
Ive been going to AKA for about 4 years now and have cherished it since the day I joined. Other than promoting hard work, confidence, and discipline, Master Mukherjee helps create and maintain a promising family environment. With the help of all the instructors, the academy is far more than an ordinary karate studio. At AKA we learn how to form bonds, learn moral values, handle real world situations, and overall, strive to be the best versions of ourselves. Highly recommend Austin Karate Academy because there isnt a more promising and worthwhile studio out there. Thank you for shaping me into who I am today!
My son has been attending Karate here for a year now and we both absolutely love it. He is eager to come to class and train and it has helped to improve his behavior at school and at home. Master Mukherjee and the rest of the staff really care and do their best to make sure each student is safe and help them to do their best both in and out of the classroom.
My 6 year old has been taking karate lessons here for a year now. We couldnt be happier with AKA. Master Mukherjee does an excellent job teaching not just karate, but also respect, confidence, obedience, listening skills, etc. In the time weve been attending, Ive watched my son grow in many ways. AKA also has teenagers and young adults help instruct the Tiny Tigers which boosts their leadership skills.We just had a regional championship near Houston and the AKA studio brought more participants than any other outside of the Houston area. It was amazing to watch them all cheer on their friends together. I also heard nothing but praise from black belts of other studios that Master Mukherjees students are always among the best at the tournaments.We love Austin Karate Academy and are happy to have found it.
My 12 year old daughter and I came to Austin Karate Academy almost two years ago on the referral of a friend/instructor. We have enjoyed the challenge of learning Tang Soo Do martial arts, and the instructors and staff are helpful and encouraging. And true to the martial arts discipline, they expect exactness and obedience to instruction. Respect and loyalty are skills taught right along with the physical drills. We recommend AKA to all who are interested in learning karate!
AKA is a wonderful school. My son started couple years ago and we have been with this school ever since. The stuff is beyond professional and knowledgeable, all instructors are taking great pride in teaching the kids and practicing this amazing art. The school owner Dave and his family has been is an example of professionalism and dedication especially during this difficult year. The school has implemented many adjustments to keep everyone safe and still practicing regularly during pandemic and managed remain opened and fully functioning. We can not be happier with our 10 year olds progress, both physically and mentality! I highly recommend this school and community!
Cant thank enough to Mr Mukherjee and the teachers who have a played a wonderful role in my sons life. My son joined 9 years ago and is still learning and enjoying Karate in the studio. What I like the most is Mr Mukherjee is like a father to his students. very honest and loving, he will never shy away from doing the right thing to his students, so that they improve in their overall character not just Karate. Austin Karate Academy provides a supportive, family-like environment to practice the art of Tang Soo Do. My son has been training at AKA since he was 6 years old – he is now 13! Over the years, he has grown in physical strength and agility. He has gained determination and confidence. Mr. Mukherjee instills the value of regular, consistent training and helps students overcome failure to achieve martial arts success. About 4 years ago, my husband started training there as well. Practicing karate together has become a wonderful bonding experience for them.Austin Karate Academy provides a great physical workout, while teaching core values to achieve success. It is not about the belt but the person who is wearing the belt. One will hear this time and again inside the dojo from Master Mukherjee. Austin Karate Academy (AKA) embodies that principle. There is an emphasis on character building, perfecting the techniques and creating a sense of confidence and comfort in the student. AKA prepares and provides opportunities to participate in local and regional tournaments throughout the year. Some students are with AKA for more than a decade, alumni who are active and excellent instructors, and current higher rank students have the opportunity to teach a class or a group of students. I have found that the Master and instructors can make a personal connection with the student, work 1:1 as needed and passionate about martial art and teaching it.In this unprecedented time of social distancing and self-quarantine, AKA is providing regular online instructor-led classes to ensure the continuity of the program.We have been part of AKA since the summer of 2015 and very satisfied with the overall experience.[2/17/2022]: Made it strong through the worst of the pandemic, still the best place for Tang Soo Do!
My family loves AKA! The classes are great for kids confidence, self-esteem, and obedience as well as for physical fitness for both kids and adults alike. The instructors are patient and compassionate and genuinely want their students to become better, not just at karate, but at being better people outside of the studio as well.
My daughter started here an year ago and we were unsure if Karate is her *thing* but now she loves coming here so much. She is determined to go all the way and thanks to AKA family for keeping her motivated. All the teachers are very sincere and Mr. Mukherjee is awesome! The AKA family has been great in transforming our son to a confident, respecting and responsible person. Master Mukherjee and the entire AKA staff make sure that COVID did not affect any students progress. All the instructors and classes are fun and learning. We have been attending classes for the last 4 years and we strongly recommend Austin Karate Academy for everybody.My two boys attend classes here. My older one is very passionate about Tang Soo do and practices regularly. He joined this facility 4 uears back. But my younger one used to attend a different facility. There belts were given every 3 months even if the kid was not performing well. He was not at all focused.But once we changed the facility and brought him here , we could see a difference in him, his kicks are higher, posture is better. He is thriving and we are happy as a family.In this facility, students with belts red and above help younger kids in their lessons. Especially for younger kids seeing the black belts perform is an inspiration.I strongly recommend Austin Karate Academy because they are strict and kidstake each lesson seriously.
My daughter has grown so much since she started in the Tiny Tigers program at Austin Karate Academy. She is more confident and more focused and even meditates in her own time when she gets frustrated. The instructors are amazing and teach the kids discipline while praising them when they learn new skills and stay focused in class. We LOVE AKA!

My 2 daughters and I have been part of AKA family for quite some time. They teach not only martial arts, but also good manners, mutual respect, leadership skills and fitness. Martial arts, when trained under a dedicated master, teach self discipline and leadership skills. Thats exactly what has happened for Indi at AKA and Master Mukherjee.I never felt the need to push my kids into any leadership camps as they train at AKA where they are encouraged to lead, help, and support each other all the time. This whole journey of a white to black belt will mold your children into natural leaders clubbed with empathy and self-discipline. When you are part of WTSDA (World Tang Soo Do Association), no matter where you are, you are always accepted with the same fervour.As soon as shelter-in-place was announced, Austin Karate Academy moved virtual. AKAs ability to operate in this new normal is evident from the fact that we actually accomplished testing for promotion to next level belts with the same vigour.I also would like to share this vital point I tell my kids often: Master Mukherjee along with his other teaching staff have full-time jobs. Yet, they never look or sound exhausted when they are at AKA training their students. That passion, dedication, and commitment is what our children need as a take-home lesson.
Top notch leadership training that goes far beyond the martial art skills. David, the owner & leader, has a wonderful, family-centric club here. My son loves to go twice a week and learned how to push past some tough physical and mental challenges under Mr Mukherjees mentorship. He started as a Tiny Tiger and is now 2nd degree black belt and helps teach. Amazing experience for my son.
My children have been attending AKA for over 3 years. Mr. Mukherjee and the staff are fantastic with both small children and older youth. My daughter started training after she saw how much fun my son was having while in class. The skills they are learning will be with them the rest of their lives, but the immediate benefit is greater confidence and more focus both at home and at school. We recommend AKA to parents - they dont focus solely on the physical forms, but strive to make better people as well.
AKA is an amazing place for your child to experience positive self-growth in a great environment. Both our kids have learned valuable life lessons as they progress and strive to move up in rank and skill level. Master Mukherjee is amazing and has a great intuitive understanding of children as they try something challenging in a communal environment. All kids are different and he takes the right approach to bring out the best effort in each one. More experienced students who have been in the program for years are intimately involved in assisting the kids learn forms and techniques. Parents of kids are welcome to sign up with the kids and go through the process together.Been going there for nearly 4 years and have had a great experience.

Teaching discipline, values, teamwork and comradery. The instructors at AKA are very friendly and helpful. Theres always a lot of positive energy. I have only been taking classes for a few months but my flexibility has improved a lot. Ive also seen how it teaches confidence, discipline and respect.

I love AKA! I first enrolled my son with the intention of teaching him self defense. Once he started I noticed it was so much more for him. AKA has given my son a desire to strive for greatness that I’m not sure he was interested in before. The challenge of going to the next level has given his the motivation to push harder. My son started as a tiny tiger and moved on to advanced belt with the help of very dedicated trainers who continuously provide quality instruction, high standards, hard work, consistency, persistence and importantly personalized attention to a child’s development. Highly recommend the academy.
AKA leadership and instruction is top notch. Unbelievable how Master Mukherjee navigated through the pandemic – switching to virtual (live) instruction - and when permitted slowly integrating studio attending classes with all precautions. A great place to learn a martial art.
This school accepted my back into the Tang Soo Do fold readily and quickly became my extended family. So happy I found AKA AND Ive dropped 25lbs in 6 months!
I had the opportunity to guest train here over the summer and it was great! The whole studio was extremely friendly and energetic they made me feel like I fit right in. Master Mukherjee is very knowledgable and encouraging and the assistant instructors are great examples of dedication and compassion. Couldnt have asked for a better experience. 10/10 would recommend!
A great place to send your kids for Tang Soo Do. This is a family run place with both Master Mr.Mukherjee and Mrs.Mukherjee fully in charge of the activities. There is a great leadership team too to support them. My elder son started going to AKA 4+ years back and he is now testing for his black belt next week. This is not an academy but a loving Family. My kid has been going her for the last three years and loves it and feels total kinship with the instructors and students. Mr. Mukherjee and his excellent staff are awesome. As the Dojo says this is not about just physical prowess but confidence, obedience etc. Highly recommend it!

My son has been training with Master Mukherjee since he was a little over 3 years old. He is 4 1/2 now at the time I am writing this review. He was an early speaker and quick learner. I myself am a martial arts instructor, but did not have a program for the 4-6 year age range yet in my school. Since he really wanted to start right away I went on the hunt for a good school to take him on.I inquired around and found in Master Mukherjee a very like minded soul. He really cares about working with all his students, has great patience with the little ones, and is in the martial arts because of a passion and love of the art. My son thoroughly enjoys his classes and they have done a good job at keeping the kids engaged virtually and safely in person during the COVID-19 pandemic.
AKA feels like a family. They care about their students both young and old, both with their karate adventures and instruction and their family life. We are so proud and honored to be apart of this family. AKA all the way!!!

2022-06-09Austin Karate Academy is amazing! Our 7 year old started over a year ago in Tiny Tigers. I could not believe his focus and attention that he developed from this program. The instructors are top-notch and truly care about each and every student and each student’s success. I am happy to say, this program has given me such a great feeling…I joined! Our son moved up to the beginner’s class with me. He tells me, “Mom, I cannot wait to spar with you. I am gonna win!” Well…he has already won with AKA.

2022-02-18Austin Karate Academy is a wonderful school that I would 100% recommend to anyone interested in learning martial arts! One of the best things about the program is that the instructors really care about the students. It feels like a family. The kids who come to class gain confidence and discipline each lesson. As an adult starting karate, I was nervous to begin and worried about being the only grown up in class-but there were other adults and parents there and I instantly felt like part of the AKA family. If you arent sure where to go to learn martial arts, look no farther than Austin Karate Academy!

They are caring, compassionate, and dedicated in your success. For my son, learning karate at AKA has been an excellent source in teaching respect, perseverance, and dedication. They work hard to make everyone feel welcome, safe, respected, to help their students keep working and improving themselves both physically and mentally. 2020-04-18Austin karate academy has been family for us for the past 7 years. Master Mukherjee is a great instructor who not only has the expertise and experience but also is very encouraging and genuinely cares for each and every student. During this difficult time when we are dealing with this global pandemic and the center is closed, my kids and all the students of Austin Karate academy are constantly being challenged and trained under Master Mukherjees leadership. I am honored to be a part of this incredible family and am glad I took the decision of putting both my kiddos under Master’s leadership! Thank you!

Master Mukherjee is not only a great martial arts instructor, he teaches all his students strong family values, sportsmanship, good conduct and discipline. 2020-12-22I believe my mom left a review 4 years ago but Austin Karate Academy has only grown since then! AKA does everything it says it will and more. Discipline, confidence, self-defense, you name it, they have it. It encourages students to practice a healthy and balanced lifestyle and also instills a sense of purpose in young kids. Karate isnt only for the kiddos though, adults are welcome with open arms and there are so many exceptional parents as proof! AKA is beyond accommodating and prioritizes making everyone feel as comfortable as they can :))Personally speaking, these past couple of years have been invaluable and I have made lifelong friends at AKA. Four years later, both my sister and I have earned our black belts while also having a tight-knight karate family within the studio that we know we can depend on! I love AKA and Im sure you will too. 2020-12-16My son loves Austin Karate Academy. The option for online and outside classes during the pandemic has really helped my son keep up with his forms. Mr. Mukherjee has been an excellent instructor and does a wonderful job of being firm, yet playful during his interactions with the younger crowd. Thanks for being there, AKA!
