What an amazing thrift shop! Was greeted by a gentleman named Jeffrey (very professional). He recommended I check out the men’s clothing section and I found some great finds! We chatted a bit about the local restaurants and the area as well as I’m new to Austin. It was a great experience and I will definitely be returning for all my thrusting needs. 10/10 would recommend this spot!
I love this place! I was looking for a new suit jacket and Jeffrey helped me find a great one that fit me perfectly! We chatted for a while and he made me feel right at home. Its amazing that I can find such cool stuff at such a low price, and I sleep well knowing my money went to a good cause!
Great store, a lot to look at, clothing, hats, accessories, purses, nick nacks, bedding, sports equipment, and so much more. And how Great is it that anything you buy from there goes to the animal shelter, especially a no kill shelter. Great prices and very friendly and helpful workers. I will definitely be back the next time Im in town!
Shopping at APA Thrift is THE BEST. Its a win win. Great deals for YOU, shopping for secondhand items is great for the environment, and most importantly, all net profits go directly to support the wonderful organization that is Austin Pets Alive! You can find some unreal deals at APA Thrift. Their products are carefully curated. Attached is a photo of a Siberian Husky magnet, Husky mug and 1996 model Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer with all original attachments, in excellent working condition. All of this set me back a whopping $61. I also purchased an entire winter wardrobe for $60. Including boots, sweaters, and soooo many tops.At this Burnet location, you can fill a trash bag full of clothes for $10 at their upstairs bins. Youll have to spend some time searching, which is half the fun! Make a day of it.I make it a point to donate all of my best clothing and housewares to APA Thrift instead of trying to sell on Poshmark, Ebay, etc. The animals are worth it.
I havent been thrifting here since before the pandemic, so it was nice to go there again. They still have some nice items, at descent prices. My Mom found a couple of dresses for my 16 y.o. niece, and I got a few writing pads. Well hit them again in the future. And I THANK THEM for making customers and the staff wear masks. Were ALL IN THIS...TOGETHER.💛💛💛
All items are priced based on category. Which doesn’t make sense to me because for example all shirts are $6; whether it be a really nice brand/in good condition, or a worn out shirt with some defects. So I guess you just have to try to find something decent because the more worn out items don’t seem worth the same price.Other than that, it’s a well-organized store and you can find some great items if you’re patient!
My girlfriend and I have been coming here for awhile to shop for stuff for our apartment, the main appeal is obviously you can take your dog and peruse the store. So recently after a few car problems I was in a rental and had my furry friend with me however I didn’t have a leash. I physically phoned the shop from the parking lot in the back and the cashier brought me out a leash to my car so we could come inside and shop. If that’s not A+ customer service I’m not sure what is. Love this place!
The thrift store with antique store pricing! I get it - it’s for a great cause which I am a huge advocate of, which is why I was excited to check out the store...but the prices are really, exceptionally high for used items ($2 for an old mug?) and while I did find a couple of reasonable priced items to purchase, they took all the fun out of the thrift store “treasure hunt” for me by identifying and marking up all of the “treasures”
I love this place! Prices are great and they have all kinds of stuff for all kinds of people! They also have this very cool mode where you pay a fix amount and get a bag, then you go to a space and can get whatever you want and fit the entire bag with things! So worth it!The best part is knowing that your money goes to saving lives! They do a great job! Please also consider visiting their shelter and maybe adopting a new friend!Their staff is so kind and friendly and parking is easy, right in front of the store.Ill definitely go back there soon!Thank you!
This place is so cool! Always find every time I go! The store has been so successful even have a South location. They raise so much money for the shelter. (I think every penny goes to it.) They’ve done so much better under new management. The store even looks better. The Boutique (vintage/designer clothes), the cute housewares, The Man Cave (men’s dept), and 2nd floor ($10 gets you a huge bag to stuff with clothes and shoes)! So much if you take your time!
One of my favorite thrift shops in Austin. Austin Pets Alive! does a great job of organizing and curating their inventory. Every time I have gone, the staff is always so kind. Prices are fair and they have a great selection of gently used brand names. Definitely recommend stopping by to support a great organization!
Best thrift place Ive been to- and I do take superlatives seriously. The whole place has a chill, inviting vibe with an aesthetic to match. It seems like the entire store was someones crazy idea that actually came to fruition. The clothes in the front were good but the clothes in the back are top tier. Their other sections just have hidden treasures and are clean and organized. The prices are even better than Goodwills, they offer a student discount, and they let us fill up a bag of unsorted clothes from their upstairs section for spending $25+! But the best part of it all was the staff- great people running the place and Ill be sure to stop by again when Im in town!
Been thrift shopping for over 20 years and this gem of a place has some STEALS at both locations! The selection isnt huge, but the prices more than make up for it (seriously dirt cheap!) and the clientele and staff are super friendly. Easy parking at both locations. I love the kind staff (and Miss Sweets) the most. Ive donated AND shopped here and I will continue to. I love that it is helping the animals as well (APA!). Thank you!
This is my absolutely favorite store. They ALWAYS have something, and it’s the only place I know of where you can spend $75 and get an entire week’s worth of clothes. Not to mention, your money goes towards supporting the shelter! I haven’t bought clothes from a retail store since discovering this place. Love it!
I love that you all are there and I can contribute to a local organization rather than a little bit of a questionable charity like Goodwill, but I wish you all had a better system of dropping off goods rather than having to try to open doors with your hands full of heavy stuff and then have to walk to the back of the store.Would be much easier if we could somehow pull around the back or the side.I havent bought anything in the store in awhile, but they seem to have some good items, though they are limited by physical space. I think they send the overflow stuff to the newer south store.
I love thrift stores in general and it makes me especially happy when I can find a treasure and also know it helps Austin Pets Alive! This store is always clean and well organized and the staff are friendly and appreciative. And the prices are GREAT! Ive never been that it wasnt a pleasant and fun experience. Hats off to APA for setting up another way we can help.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I’m amazed all the time at the great things people donate for this cause and the prices can’t be beat. The store is always adding new items to the floor. The volunteers are amazing for helping out and the staff is always so friendly. Not to mention all the great dog toys for my puppy! I tell all my friends about it.
This is my favorite thrift store in Austin! Customer service is top notch, everyone is friendly, helpful, and passionate about the cause. I have found numerous high end amazing items for incredible deals. The store is always neat, organized, and easy to shop. It just keeps getting better!
Great store, great people, a little puppy walks around the store all day. Bring your stuff here and support a great cause. The store has a nice layout that doesnt seem cramped or too sparse. I feel like Im in a real adventure or treasure hunt when looking through their inventory. They even have a separate room for high fashion things! Keeping Austin no kill is important to me and this is a way you can contribute if you dont have the ability to volunteer. Parking leaves a lot to be desired but they have extra spots on the back. I go thrift shopping ever month and this is my new place to hit first.
“ I’m a regular at Austin Pets Alive.“I love coming here because I can help support an amazing cause.A boutique-style thrift store selling high quality new, and gently used items, for very low prices. ALL net proceeds go to support the innovative life-saving programs of Austin Pet’s Alive!.“ Its such a great place and I even enjoy taking family and friends with me to see them get excited about all the wonderful treasures they have. I adore the use of space and variety and selections from clothing for both men and women, all fashion accessories you could imagine shoes for most people , boots , sandals, running shoes , dresses, hats, women’s tops and pants , and so much more. Did I mention home decor too?!. I personally never know what Ill end up walking out with, but that’s the beauty of this unique thrift store. The staff here are exceptional and answer questions about the products very promptly. I would recommend this to all my friends and family.Thank you again APA , Thrift!
I like shopping and I love the doggies. So what better way to do both. I found alot of nice items, too many to carry at one time, a volunteer had to bring the items to the counter while I continued to shop. :-) The volunteers are nice and helpful. Cannot wait until I am in town again to visit.
Very reasonably priced little thrift store! The people were friendly, the selection was good, and it was for a good cause as well! They have books (paperbacks $1, hardbacks $2), clothes, accessories, home goods, and pet items. I found some manga and a cat tree for cheap!
This place is amazing ❤️ Not only do all proceeds go straight back to helping animals in need, but the store itself is wonderful! Amazing prices (dresses have always only been $5!), super friendly staff, well organized, and always such a variety of items. This place is definitely my happy place!
I loved this thrift store! Its very cozy, it has a lot of hidden gems (I found a blazer I wanted for so long!!), it has amazing and friendly staff! Items are in great shape, prices are sooo good, plus I also loved how pretty and how spacious dressing rooms were! Thrifting is a big part of my life and thrifting in this thrift store was an incredible experience and I definitely recommend it! I love that the profit helps pets, and that they even sell cute little pet things. :)
I used to LOVE this place. But sadly, theyve gone downhill in the last year since Heather, the store manager, left. When she and her team of amazing volunteers were involved, there was such a positive vibe and the store looked as good as a thrift store could. Now, its a bit of a mess, there is an odor of old clothes and shoes and no one greets you anymore. I popped in the other day while my car was being washed and after 6 minutes of no one greeting or even looking in my direction, a woman shuffled up to me, and mumbled that she would need to take my backpack. This came as a surprise since I was dressed professionally, having just left a work meeting and Ive been shopping there since they opened, for goodness sake! I let her know that I had a $3,000 computer in my backpack and it needed to stay with me. I just left. :-|
Very cool thrift store! Love that its dog friendly and benefits the animals! Parking is crazy and i wish it was more organized, it seemed it was at one point but not anymore. The prices are amazing! Found some good finds but not as much dog stuff as i’d expected, but thats alright. but other than that it was absolutely fun and can easily make a day out of it.
This is SUCH a great thrift shop! The prices are right, the people are chill and the cause cant be beat. I highly reccomend buying and donating here. Pro tip, you can buy a bag for $10 and fill it from their attic treasure trove. Ultimately its filled with donated items that were deemed unsellable but there are definitely some gems to be found up there!!
I love the store layout. There are always great finds from cool brands like Wetseal, F21, and sometimes even Free People. Dresses are $5, Tops and bottoms are $3, athletic tops are $4. Got lucky once and snagged a vintage Nike windbreaker for $4 :) The shoes selection is pretty good too - sandals go for $4 I think (I saw a few pairs from Guess), and sneakers for $8 :)This is my favourite thrift store along the stretch (Top Drawer -> Savers -> APA), and I have never left this place empty handed.
Such a great store, very beautifully laid out, the real deal in thrift! Heather was super helpful in picking out Stella McCarrney jackets, which are totally amazing. Would definitely recommend a visit, knowing that your money is going to the shelter makes buying these gently used items all worth it!
Cozy little thrift shop that goes towards helping animals, whats not to like? Very cheap prices, averaging about $3 or $4 dollars for tops and jackets. However the real fun is the top level. For 5 dollars (this may be a temporary price), you can take a trash bag upstairs and fill it with whatever you want. It is majorly clothes and a few housewares, but I ended up satisfied with a stuffed to the max bag full of excellent clothes. Just remember when pawing through them, youve already paid for them, so why not grab what youre looking at? Theres also occasionally animals there up for adoption, so you may go home with old clothes and a new friend.
A nice thrift store with some good prices. You definitely have to go check the back rooms for more items. Naturally lots of pet items and some nice APA swag. Some of the shelves with fragile items like glass and porcelain are very unstable. They also stack books as a base to display some of the fragile items on the packed shelves, making it feel very risky to get to the books. Something needs to change.
I stopped into this thrift store for the first about 30 minutes before it closed. I wish I came in earlier. I completely underestimated how cool it would be! First thing, the shop was very organized and easy to navigate. Secondly, the pricing structure is the best! Every type of article of clothing has a different price. For example, all shirts/tops are $5. All shoes are $8... Etc. And there are some really amazing finds. Remember, all of these proceeds are going to Austin Pets Alive! So naturally, all the volunteers are great people who love animals.I got a considerabally large amount of stuff after only being there for 30 minutes. And all I was thinking was how I found a new Austin thrift gem, and I didnt want to tell any of my friends about it... So I could keep it to myself as long as possible. But thats just silly, because the clothes rotates so quickly. And again, 100% of the proceeds go to animals in need!! Instead of going to Goodwill or ...any other thrift store, for that matter. Donate and shop here! Not just for the animals, but for your own closet as well :)
This was the best thrifting experience I have ever had. This is better than going to retail store because you can find brand names here (i.g. J. Crew, Chanel, Burberry!) for an incredibly cheap price! They get new things in the store everyday and the people working there are so attentive and sweet! I will definitely be going back for more!
APA Thrift is a gem among the many thrift & resale shops here in Austin. Their main area has a solid, well-curated assortment of wardobe staples in all sizes with a shockingly large dose of the kind of funky pieces that make shopping secondhand fun, all at very very low prices - a far better value than commercial thrift shops. The boutique is even more carefully selected, and full of excellent values for high-end styles. Plus, for 10 bucks and a bit of elbow grease, the upstairs rummage loft is among the best spots in Austin to score hidden treasures. And, of course, its all to benefit a great cause.
Pretty cool place. The back was my favorite part, a bunch of shelves of unpriced things that you bring to the front to get priced. I found an entire tub full of Madam Alexander dolls, huge stack of Xbox 360 games, silver cutlery, stacks and stacks of scarves, it was pretty cool to sift througg. lol They even have a designer closest where the prices are a bit higher, but still seemed reasonable. The cause is great too!! Who doesnt love animals?! Will definitely donate my unwanted items here in the future, as well as be a returning customer!! 😀💚👍👌🐱🐶🐰
Edit, this place used to have a fun and energetic vibe and over the past year or so has taken a nose dive. The fantastic finds are few ans far between and the staff have really disappointing customer service. Donate to animal shelters separately and find clothing and junk elsewhere.
I volunteer here and felt I should write a review based on my experiences as a volunteer. APA thrift has been a place where I have enjoyed making new friends who have similar passions and interests as I do. I enjoyed volunteering at this APA location the most because of volunteer coordinator/assistant manager Heather Lavis. Heather always ensured I knew what I needed to do and was not standing around in confusion as well as actively teaching me new skills like helping the customers, which she would do by serving as the best example of always providing excellent customer service. Not only has Heather helped me communicate better with customers, but she has also gotten me to socialize better with other volunteers and feel like a part of the community. Thank you!
I use to volenteer at the APA thrift north and South location. While I was working there I often encountered racism from many of the the other volunteers. The work tone is that they only want white women working for this charity. Today, I find that the the same bigotry still exists. With the managers at both location. It is also a shame about the comments there were often expressed by the managers and volunteers at both locations notice how there are no black volunteers at either locations....If anyone would like evidence of what im saying to be true please reach out to me. If you are a minority dont take my word just visit each location. Shame ON THE APA ORG!

2022-02-28Loooove a thrift store with a good cause, hard to find stuff if youre male but really interesting stuff for everybody in general. Took an awesome poster and windbreaker from this store and the staff is really kind too. Recommended definitely.

2021-10-19The parking here wasnt the best, but super glad I didnt let that deter me. There are a few things that would make me give this place five stars if the store changed it. If they would put some lighting in the dressing rooms, add lighting throughout the front room, and if they would put more signs up about sales and where to go. I didnt realize there was a whole back room! I talked to the girl to see if the tags on the clothes (similar to goodwill) meant something and she told me about the sales. If I knew before looking I may have bought more. Staff was pleasant and nice. Definetly a thrift shop worth stopping at.

2022-09-09Love these stores! Especially the fact that my purchases directly benefit the shelter. One thing--please remind your workers to thank people when they bring in donations. I dont expect a gush of appreciation, but a smile and a simple thank you would go a long way. The folks at the Burnet Rd and Airport Blvd are usually so nice, I was surprised at their nonchalance when I dropped off some nice stuff.

2022-04-11This was my first time visiting an APA! Thrift store! It has a very nice layout with well organized sections of items. My friend found several items - shoes, a dress and a coat, as well as a hat, and I found a vintage pith helmet, along with a nice set of ceramic bowls for my kitchen. Everything is very reasonably priced, too.As a guy, I very much appreciated their good selection of mens clothes upstairs, which had quite a few things in my size. Ill be back to look at all of that again.

2022-06-28One of the best thrift stores I’ve been too! The store is meticulously organized and clean. A great selection of vintage and name brand clothing in good lightly used condition. I bought a couple items new with tags still on them. Very reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and I love shopping for a good cause! Yes parking isn’t great in the front but you can park in back or on the side of the building.

2020-12-29Fantastic thrift store that often has new stuff on the floor and great music. Ive found some amazing items and the staff and volunteers are always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Plus all the proceeds go to help save animals lives. I love that APA! is economical with its resources and mobilizes volunteers to help run this thrift store.

2022-03-01This place is the greatest thrift store supporting my favorite cause, the fur babies!!! I love going on treasure hunts at all the APA thrift stores. I buy gifts, stuff for myself and home and of course, my pets! Support local businesses and local pets! Shop APA thrift! Love my domino fuzzy throw and unique throw pillow. Goes perfectly with the fat cat!

2021-07-17Maybe this place has a good cause but keeping the parking lot with a dangerous deep pothole is very unkind. I tried to take a parking spot in front and hit it so badly, so my car front bumper cracked. I’m a very careful driver and my car is new, so this situation is especially upsetting. Unfortunately, because of such an unpleasant situation I cannot recommend this place to park or shop.
