Easily the greatest Veterinary Clinic I have EVER been to. They are timely, polite, authentic, and very knowledgeable. They dont pressure you into making their preferred decision, they leave it up to you and honestly I love that. They show they genuinely care, and they arent just there to make a profit. 10/10
I have been going to Austin Urban Veterinary Center for a year and a half and it has been an amazing experience every time. Jessica is super friendly and offers a no pressure approach. They were great at navigating Covid restrictions by doing curbside pickups and phone calls with the vet. I have a chocolate lab who was about 30 pounds overweight when we first started going here (due to being on the wrong food and dog park closures during early Covid days in Canada). With the guidance from Jessica he is down 31 pounds and looks like a whole new pup! He loves to go there and always jumps out of the car with excitement. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
Austin Urban Vet is the best! They always respond promptly and truly care about your animal. Whenever we’ve taken our dog in we get seen right away and they always know how to make him feel better. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!
Every single person I interacted with was the nicest person I have ever met at any of the dozens of vets I have been to. Could not recommend them more highly. Only thing I was worried about was parking since they were on fifth Street, but they ended up having plenty of their own parking. Fantastic vet.
Its a great facility the vet we usually deal with is Mike Porta, hes very caring and sensitive to both the owner and the pet. Location is very convenient to where we live.If you have any sort of emergency on the weekends youll have to go elsewhere, look for AVES.Sometimes the front desk is a little scattered but generally theyre very sweet people trying their best. The techs are very sweet too.Weve been taking our little Jack Russell here at first for just a general checkup and were getting a handle on his overall health. Then he had 2 accidents practically back to back. The first was just a minor soft tissue issue with a couple of his paws that required an x-ray just to be sure he was ok then some pain meds. Not long after he had a more serious accident having gotten hit by a car with broken toe bones where he needed emergency care and we had to take him to AVES since it was the weekend and AUVC wasnt open.But we were able to get him in first thing Monday to get their opinion about his care and lucky we got that second opinion from Dr. Mike since it turns out we were able to avoid surgery which is what AVES had recommended. In his opinion he just needed time with weekly bandage/splint changes for similar results as we would have gotten with surgery, and so far hes been exactly right.One thing to note to owners is that you gotta make sure your pet gets at least some water before a day drop off, it seems each time my buddy gets out hes dying of thirst. Not likely their fault as theyre supposed to do potty/water breaks but maybe hes just stressed being there all the time so he may not drink like he should, so if your pet is sensitive and likely to be scared get them to drink/eat before you come by for a drop off.Would highly recommend.
Brought our dog here with excessive vomiting when our main vet wasn’t available. The vet and technicians were very nice and accommodating given the situation. Followed up after to ensure our dog was doing well and responding well to treatment.
By far the best veterinary experience Ive ever had. They were very friendly and left me feeling very confident that my dog was in good hands.They also have a great location and very fairly priced.

We brought our two dogs in for international travel exams. Our exams were thorough and we were able to discuss ways to make our trip with our pets who travel in cabin easy on the dogs. Dr Heidi spends time with her patients and answers questions. She sent a follow up email with Test results from physical and offered her assistance once again if needed prior to our trip.The front desk staff is always helpful, and they have all the paperwork ready for filing with proper channels for international travel. They are always able to assist with what day exam needs to done and where paperwork needs to filed in accordance with which country you are traveling to.I can’t say enough about this veterinary center. The other nice thing for me, is I can walk there from my downtown loft if the weathers nice, however they do have parking if it’s not which isn’t always easy in a downtown location.
Super nice staff, scheduling an appointment is easy and they give your dog the care that you want from a Vet while also making sure you don’t waste time and money with unnecessary testing. Pixal, my dog, loves to go there-first time I’ve had a dog excited to go to the Vet! Dr. Shannon is a pleasure to work with and really keeps track of how Pixal’s doing.
Incredible group. Called them when my mastiff was having issues with what turned out to be bladder stones. They saw him the same day I called, performed surgery two days later and now he is on the mend.Everyone from the front desk to the techs and doctors were extremely nice and they took great care of my boy while we was with them.A++ care and service.
Austin Urban Vet Center has been seeing my dog for various issues for years now and they never disappoint. I cannot rave enough about how kind, responsive, and helpful they have been. Theyre always able to get me in right away and instantly tend to any issues my dog may be having. If youre in need of a veterinary in ATX, I highly recommend this one!
If youre new to Austin and dont know where to take your pup, GO HERE! Dr. Mike is awesome, as well as all the vet techs and office staff. My pup is very weary of people, especially men, and tends to be timid and shy. Dr. Mike did a great job of taking his time with her, letting her sniff him and overall just being gentle with her. He also took his time answering all my questions and was very informative. The vet tech (Im blanking on her name, Im so sorry!) was awesome too! I feel very confident in Austin Urban and Ill definitely be bringing my girl here for her routine visits.
I have a very high standards for vets (after my prior dog passed from lymphoma).Dr. Shannon made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. I also appreciate didnt make the appt seem rushed at all!
This is a wonderful place to take your pet. I was going there for over 2 years. I just recently moved out out state and I am sad to leave them. I have taken my 8 week old puppy there and she is now 2 1/2. I have taken here here for her shots, her annual check up, even once when another dog bit her. Austin Urban Vet, has always taken great care of my Nova. I would highly recommend this place.
The staff has genuine love for each of our beloved animals, that come through their door. I saw proud Shepards and stately magnificent UK Bulldogs, and beautiful lioness type cats in stellar health. Older animals appeared young; they were so happy and energetic.
Cannot say enough great things about Austin Urban Vet Center. I have tried out a few other clinics around Austin and none of them have been as attentive, caring, and thorough as they are here. The front desk is amazing and Dr. Helen and Dr. Jessica are so thoughtful. I can tell they really care for my dogs (and seem to genuinely enjoy them). During the pandemic they had a great curbside system and would call me with all the details of the exam, procedure, etc. They also are great at not jumping straight into the most expensive solution or medication and will work with you to find a cost effective treatment when possible. Dr. Helen is my primary vet and immediately gave me her personal contact information so I can email her with any issues and avoid having to schedule an exam at the clinic (very crucial when you have a pandemic puppy and a mischievous Lab). This has saved me so much time and money on minor issues. Im moving soon and can confidently say one of the things Ill miss most about Austin is Austin Urban Vet Center!
We brought our senior pittie, Berlin, in to get a health certificate for her old dog road trip into Baja California. The whole team at AUV could not have been nicer! From the front desk, to our tech, John, to Dr. Heidi, everyone made Berlin feel comfortable and like the special older gal she is. Today was my first time attending this vet office to see Doctor Jessica! My dog, Kona has a large amount of anxiety and is very skittish at vet appointments. They were very sweet and accommodating with her. In the 5 years I’ve had her I’ve never seen her be so comfortable with a Veterinarian and their team! They did an amazing job, I am so happy I made the switch to Urban Vet.
Austin Urban Vet Center has been such an amazing vet for our two dogs. Dr. Helen was always so attentive to the dogs and did thorough exams. She also was extremely responsive via email which we appreciated as we were trying to work through some anxiety and fear issues with one of our dogs. The entire team at Austin Urban Vet Center has been great to us throughout our 4 years with them. Weve moved to Colorado and are sad to have to find a new vet, but will always return to Dr. Helen and team when we are in Texas. Thanks!!
I can’t think of anything I don’t love about AUV and Upper Paw. It’s been almost 10 years, since adopting Dave and starting with eek - neutering - and everything since then... I know he is loved and cared for in ways that I would want for him. It sucks that I can’t move away, but I’m very grateful for all of the support in keeping him happy, healthy, and safe. ♥️
I’m so glad I picked Austin Urban Vet. This is by far the best place I’ve ever taken my pets. Everyone there is super nice and helpful. Dr Jessica is awesome! She is super responsive, even on the weekends, when it comes to questions or help. She’ll find a way to get you a quick appointment if you really need it. Having a great customer experience (pets and their humans) is definitely what this place is all about!
Amazing Veterinary Office with professional and courteous staff. Their entire building is very clean with trendy updated decor. In the past I have enjoyed being greeted by a very cute fur baby of one of the staff members who likes to hang out on the reception desk. I have never had a bad experience at Austin Urban and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Heidi. Our dog was very sick early this year out of nowhere. If our dog was in anyone but Dr. Heidis care as well as the specialists she referred us to, I dont think our dog wouldve made it. Our dog is old with a lot of health concerns and a lot of spirit. I find comfort in knowing that with every check up, every health concern will be addressed and constantly monitored. Dr. Heidi always goes above and beyond to provide the best care and attention each and every visit. Anytime we have a question or concern shes there with an answer. Im not sure how we managed to find such an amazing Vet, but Im forever thankful we did! Im happy to report that our dog is doing well and is still in the care of Dr. Heidi and Austin Urban staff. Your pet is in good hands here!
I have been taking my dachshund and two cats here for 5 years. The staff from the front desk to the vets and vet techs are top notch. Even calling to get an emailed copy of my dogs shot records is a breeze and pleasure! The main reason I write this review is because my dachshund hurt her back a couple of years ago. Dr. Laurie and staff were extremely caring and diligent about my dogs pain and keeping her comfortable and safe as she was crate bound for two months while healing. In addition to pain control meds and anti-inflammatories, Dr. Laurie also prescribed herbal remedies, natural oils and acupuncture for my dog, which unbelievably, truly helped aid and catalyze her recovery. Surgery was considered a last resort, and Im so glad my dog (and my wallet) didnt have to endure that. My dog is doing great now, and is a healthy and happy pup. You can count on Austin Urban Vet to take care of your fur baby!
Great experience overall. Thorough, friendly, on time. Quick. Best vet experience I’ve had in awhile.After having difficulties getting an appointment with our regular vet, we were able to schedule with Austin Urban Vet (and make the permanent switch). From the beginning, staff has been attentive and friendly. They were on time and super detailed about my concerns. Even though I couldn’t go in with my anxious pup, the vet was extremely detailed and it felt like I was there. The doctor explained the options and I felt I could trust her not to push the most expensive option based on her explanation of each option. The receptionist was also very friendly and thorough with my questions, which oftentimes isn’t the case when vet offices are very busy.Thank you Dr. Morrissey and team for your friendly help. I love this office so much. My little chihuahua gets scared at the vet and has bitten other vets in the past, but has never ever had an issue here because they are so kind and gentle with him. Ive been taking him here for a year now and have loved every doctor and staff member Ive interacted with. They go out of their way to be kind and thorough in their exams. I also got my dog a deep teeth cleaning here last year and they found an infected molar other vets had missed. Ill be a lifelong customer at Austin Urban Vet :)
I am thoroughly impressed and glad I made the choice to take my baby (11year old) cat to Austin Urban Vet. Their process, staff and facility was 5/5. Dr. Heidi was professional yet warm and lovable towards my pet. I’d recommend this vet to anyone in Austin. Top notch!
Everyone clearly cares about dogs, and handles them with compassion and care. Dr. van Dyke explains everything and is very personal with me and my dog. It is a great environment.

I recommend Austin Urban Vet any chance I get! Redford’s (my dog) life has been saved here a number of times. And even though we’ve been here for scary situations, he loves coming back. I feel we are so well taken care of every time we come here… and with this menace we come here a lot.
This place is awesome the staff is very friendly and helpful. My puppy i had for 14yrs was diagnosed with cancer about 6 months ago I had surgery done to remove a tumor. And at that time the doctor said it would spread theres not much more that can be done just make sure he is comfortablein the last few months he had developed more tumors and was getting worse I lost my job because of covid and I had just recently had to move out of where I was living. the doctors at Austin urban vet Center helped me put my old puppy to sleep so he would not be in any more pain.
When I first moved to Austin I was very apprehensive about finding a new vet for my dog. So, I asked the vet that I had taken him to since he was a puppy if she had any recommendations. She pointed me to Austin Urban Vet center, and I have no regrets. They are so unbelievably friendly and reliable! The pup doesnt even get nervous when we pull up. shout out to Doctor Heidi and all the rest for being so great!
Experience was perfect. By far the very BEST veterinary appointment my Cavapoo and her parents have ever been to!When in Austin, this is the only place we’ll go to for yearly checkups or unforeseen emergencies!
I’ve personally had Dr.Heidi and Dr.Shannon take care of my pets and the service is unbeatable and simply can’t be matched. They will treat your pets like family and even put up with the over protective pet parents, like myself. They invest SO much into your pet and I genuinely think my dog enjoys going, the cat not so much (who’s surprised). The front desk staff are always kind and helpful, really making the entire experience easy and as pleasant as vet visits can be. This is the best and only vet I’ll go to in Austin!
Absolutely great experience. I am a new puppy owner and wanted a vet that was professional, attentive, easy to access, and most of all, compassionate! They treated myself and my puppy, Tucker, like family upon arrival and we’re so helpful throughout our visit. The staff takes a compassionate approach to make you and most of all, your pet, feel comfortable and relaxed. This was big especially since we were there for a skin scrape and vaccinations.I highly recommend for anyone in Austin proper/downtown for all your veterinary, boarding, and grooming needs!
My son brought our 11-yr. old Maltese to Austin where I recently located.Compared to the vets we used in Princeton, NJ and NYC midtown, Austin Urban Vet Center provides superior service in communication, quality of care, professionalism and genuine caring for dogs. I am pleased with the communication and genuine concern for my pets care (she needed a lump removed). I would recommend Austin Urban Vet Center hands down and will think twice about taking her back to NYC. Dr. Helen is A+ vet.
The staff is friendly, professional, and experienced. They really seem to know what theyre doing, my cats seemed to like it there and were not afraid to go back (never had a cat not hate going to the vet before!)They are really expensive though. At least theyre upfront about it though, no sneaky hidden charges or last minute unauthorized services. Theyre amazing and youre getting what you paid for, but theyre definitely outside my budget.
I cannot say enough good things about Austin Urban Vet Center! They have an amazing staff and they truly care about each and every animal. Dr. Jessica is sweet and intelligent, and the front desk staff is always very helpful and kind. Our puppy has been going here since she was 7 weeks old. When she got her spay surgery they were so gentle and caring with her, and even gave her a little certificate of bravery! When she had an allergic reaction they got us an appointment within 30 mins and made sure that she was safe and comfortable. 10/10!
Dr. Jessica and the Austin Urban Vet Center team go above and beyond in every way possible - we cant recommend them enough! From the first time she met our rescue dog, Dr. Jessica took care to completely customize her evaluation and recommendations based on his specific background and lifestyle - she far exceeded the levels of personalization that weve experienced with any other vet. She has made herself available to consult over the phone when we traveled out of state and had questions about his health, always makes us feel like our (numerous) questions are very valid, and sets us up for success by taking the time to comprehensively walk us through our dogs health and conditions. Our very first visit for both Ruby (puppy) and Lea (cat) was fantastic! Although we couldnt go in due to COVID, the entire team made us feel welcome and informed on what they were doing.They allowed us time to ask questions and took their time in explaining everything. We didnt feel forced with any recommendations they made as they only offered information so we could make more informed decisions.We will 100% be using them for our pet needs in the future.Thank you all!
Called to get medical records for my puppy that I just adopted from a friend of mine, was told he had to call to authorize which I completely understand. I then asked can my vet call and get the records the receptionist Emily apparently doesnt know how to do her job and said thats not possible which I found odd; my friend still had to call. So I had to cancel my puppies appointment until the original owner called yall, my pup had an ear infection I ended up taking him to an emergency hospital because everything was booked out at least 3 weeks. My friend then calls me and says that he called yall, and was told the new vet can call and get my dogs medical information no problem, I wasted time, money and on top of that Emily was very rude about my problem and took no accountability for the confusion or empathy and even cutting me off and talking over me completely unprofessional. Terrible experience!
If Dr. Morrissey isn’t your fur baby’s vet, she should be! Her passion, care, and attention to detail is unmatchable to anything I’ve ever experienced. My phone calls are always answered promptly and with warmth. The entire staff makes you feel at home and treats the animals as if they were their own. Goody-bags and take home supplies are always personalized to your pet as well! I could honestly go on forever about this place. My little guy is my entire world and every decision regarding him is carefully thought out. With that being said, I fully trust his life with Austin Urban Vet and staff♥️Thank you guys for everything
When I moved to Austin over 4 years ago, I needed to find a vet to help my elder dog with her allergies. I found Austin Urban Vet during my search and not only use them for my elder dog and my new puppy, but have also used them for the doggy daycare and their Pawstin dog walking and dog transportation service. The transportation service was helpful when I had my older dog in daycare and was not able to pick my dog up before it closed. My dogs walk in happy to see their friends at Austin Urban Vet, and leave just as happy.
Absolutely love the staff at Austin Urban Vet. Very responsive and you can tell they truly care about the health and well-being of your fur baby/babies! My dog doesnt normally warm up to people easily but shell go off with one of the staff members or Doctors with little resistance!
Dr Heidi was so communicative and personable. Ashley, the Vet Tech was well informed and helped ease any of my concerns.As a first time pet owner, the fact that Dr Heidi called the following afternoon to check in on my dog, gave me such peace of mind.Additionally, any of the meds that my dog left with had perfect instructions and they even went the extra mile to break the pills in half that needed to be broken up.The entire process was well explained and both Ashley and Dr Heidi were thorough and compassionate.Thank you for making this first vet experience stellar! I heard great things from a couple people about Austin Urban Vet Center so when my current vet was unable to see my cats, as soon as I needed, I reached out. They are now our new vet! The entire staff has been nothing but nice and full of helpful information. They also seem to genuinely care for animals. This is the fourth vet that I have brought my cats to in Austin and I dont have ANY doubts about leaving them in their care. I trust them.Update - a year later: I still love Austin Urban Vet Center. I continue to move further away from downtown, but still bring my cats here because they are the only people I trust with my babies. They continue to care for my cats in the best possible way, and are willing to help me figure things out without always going back in for an appointment. Jessica has been so kind and helpful.
This is the best Vet center Ive ever been to. The most caring, friendly staff Ive ever met. My dog just had a pretty intense surgery and they did everything they could to not only ensure the safety and comfort of my dog, but also to keep me updated every step of the way. They are genuine animal lovers and good people that want the best for your pets. Weve been seeing them for over 3 years now and will continue to do so. Thank you guys for being amazing! :)
My pup, Scout, chipped her tooth. So while traveling through Austin, she needed an extraction. The guys at Austin Urban Vet were very kind and patiently explained what was wrong with Scout and what needed to be done to keep her happy and healthy. They are very attentive and responsive even in these socially distanced, strange times, and we feel like she was well cared for. Possibly the best Vet experience we have ever had, and we wish this was our permanent care provider for our pups.Thank yall for helping keep our puppy girl safe and healthy!
We always have such a wonderful experience at Austin Urban Vet Care! The staff is super nice and knowledgeable and the facility is clean & comfortable! I know that every time we go, my cats and I will feel well taken care of. I used to despise bringing my girls to the vet, but now I really dont mind it. The exam room for cats is so zenful and calming... there are cat toys, treats and the calming sound of crickets to keep my baby girls relaxed. Highly recommend Austin Urban Vet Care!
Austin Urban vet is a great veterinarian clinic with a downtown location. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and reliable. During the pandemic, I was nervous about coming into the clinic, but I was pleasantly surprised that they had a safe procedure set up to pick up your pet and call you so everyone can stay safe.
When I came here for the first time, every single person I spoke with was genuine and helpful. My vet for my cat was very well educated and recommended a lot of useful tips being a first time cat owner. She helped me in many ways while still keeping my budget in mind! Great place and I would definitely recommend! Also, the place is very clean and out together!
This place came highly recommended by other dog owners in my building and I can see why. We had our first visit with them last week and it was perfect. Everyone was nice, the vet tech was thorough and Dr. Jessica was sweet and up to date on all of our dogs history. Wish we had this vet in North Austin where we used to live but glad we have them now.
Coming to Austin Urban Vet since 2013 and it is our go-to vet for everything our two elderly pups need. Vaccinations, routine test, annual dental cleanings and the occasional aches/pains.Everybody is always friendly, always quick - always answering questions and being very nice with my puppies. Parking is great!!! Front desk staff is great and also the technician and docs... I feel my dogs are in great hands!

We felt confident and safe in the care and medical needs that you gave our cat, Roxy. We needed a safe place for her to stay plus a few yearly shots and you provided that with ease.You put our minds and hearts at rest during a very stressful time and we felt confident that Roxy would be well taken care of for a few days. We loved the comment by a staff member that she would have a window looking out over 5th St. while she stayed there as we were sure she would love such a view! Convenient, readily available, and caring. Everyone at Austin Urban Vet center was an excellent provider to my geriatric large dog. They treated her as if she was their own pet, we were able to conveniently schedule appointments, and Dr. Helen always offered several progressive options for treatment. I believe that they helped to increase my dogs lifespan. When it was time for her to be euthanized, we could not have received better care. Dr. Helen, Dr. Erin, and the AUVC staff were compassionate and personal, and helped us through the experience. I highly recommend this vet!
My pup just had his first vet check up with Austin Urban Vet after going to Banfield for 2 years. I was delighted by how professional and personal the staff is. Its the same quality of care you get from a good primary physician. The private exam rooms dont feel super medical/sterile -- Theyre welcoming, clean, and really do feel like youre at a human doctors office! Im glad I made the switch to Austin Urban Vet and Ive only heard great things from other people who bring their pets here.
My little goldendoodle sweetheart is like my daughter. So when I moved to Austin from chicago I really wanted to find the right vet to replace the amazing vets at South Loop Animal Hospital. I tried another vet here, that was awful, then the local pet store recommended AUVC. So glad they did. I love the support, responsiveness, ability to interact via an app, and the quality of service. I feel Aaliyah is in good hands every time she must visit and I appreciate AUVC for that.
Love Austin Urban Vet for their awesome staff, and for their professionalism in treating our pets. We rely totally on their guidance for keeping our 2 dogs healthy and on the go with us all the time.Our dogs travel internationally each year, and this is a convenient place, with a qualified vet, that is close to the USDA building downtown where your paperwork has to be submitted. They know all the ins and outs of foreign travel.We love that we can walk to our appointments if we choose, but they do have parking, which downtown can be a hassle.
This is the best vet Ive ever had and Ive had animals my whole life. Dr. Erin Homburg is thoughtful, thorough and spends the time it takes to take care of issues and arm you with the information you need to keep your animals healthy and happy. Shell call you back, answer emails and addresses any and all concerns when it comes to the health of your animal. Plus shes fun! The staff is great too! Theyre all friendly, smart and thoughtful. I wish I could give them more stars. Hands down the best!!!
Percy and I just moved to Austin in January so he visited Austin Urban Vet Center for his yearly check up and so his anxious mom could get ALL of the questions answered. Even though pet parents couldnt go into the vet (COVID-19), I was really happy with how through and flexible they were. I had a lot of questions about changing food, dental cleanings, the Texas heat -- but they were patient and answered all of my questions. Im happy Percy has found a knowledgeable and kind vet here!
We could not be happier with the team at Austin Urban Vet and Dr. Heidi! They are consistently caring and patient over the phone and in person. The entire staff loves what they do and weve always felt safe and comfortable entrusting them with the care of our dog.
Can I love a vet center?? We adopted our pup in January and were on the hunt for a great vet. AUVC is incredibly attentive, they are great about follow up, they want to make sure you and your pet are taken care of even after the appt. Dr. Shannon is so sweet, my dog fell in love immediately.
Austin Urban Vet offers personal service, a convenient location and a no frills approach to pet care. Little things have been important to me like writing each dogs name that has an appointment on that day on a big chalk board behind the desk to not charging or offering services that arent needed. Theyve always been great with my timid dog, taking special care with him. They love him so I love them. :-)
We have been taking our cat, Cora to Austin Urban Vet for over a year and I would recommend them without hesitation. The staff are always pleasant, friendly and so gentle when treating her. They discuss health issues and treatment plan in detail. We always appreciate a follow-up call to see how her treatment plan is working. The location is perfect for us and their hours are convenient.

After a terrible experience from a different provider we sought out Austin Urban Vet Center. This place went the extra mile monitoring our old guy’s healing process, kept us informed and were very up front (andCorrect) about the outcome of what had been done by the previous provider. We could not have had a better experience and they made a bad situation great, our guy is now playing and back to his old self just because of proper care and procedure.We’ll be bringing all 3 of our dogs here long term. Also they’re fairly priced. That’s never bad.
We moved to downtown Austin with our 2 French Bulldogs a few weeks ago. We loved the vet we had in Lakeway where we lived before. Austin Urban Vet Center surpassed all my expectations. My dogs felt very loved and extremely comfortable. They didnt rush us and answered all my questions. I am extremely happy to be a part of their group! So are Moses and Zip!
Ive been going to the groomer next door for years, and I got a referral to Dr. Heidi Nascimi when my geriatric doggo was having some very scary symptoms.Heidi was incredibly supportive and patient with all of my questions. She really helped calm my fears and has remained an integral part of Charlies care since.The facilities are immaculate and the frontend staff are all professional and kind. I thought being downtown Id be paying an arm and a leg - but the services were pretty reasonable in cost as well.Highly recommend this clinic, and even more so recommend Heidi as a vet :)
Austin Urban Vet Center is a very special place. The office is clean and inviting, the staff are friendly and very helpful and the doctors are the absolute best!! I feel certain when I take my pets to the center that their health and well being is very important to everyone there. It is very reassuring to know you have found a vet center where you can be very confident that your pets will be in good hands and they will be cherished. COVID review:This place is great! Given its a time of COVID, they are doing a parking lot pet pick up/drop off (the vet technician met us at my car, asked a few questions about my cat’s history, and then escorted my cat, Dupre, in his carrier to the vets office). The vet technician, I believe his name was John, was very friendly and asked if I have any questions or concerns that I wanted to ask Dr Heidi about (being the neurotic cat mom I am, I did, of course).I waited (anxiously!) in my car for a phone call from Dr Heidi, which came about 10 min later. Considering how busy it was, Im impressed at her ability to thoroughly evaluate the health and Dupre’s needs. She updated me on how the exam went and all the costs that it would take ($59 for the exam, $30 for a 3-year vaccination, $30 for medication) before charging my card and proceeding with the shots. I was able to ask all the crazy cat lady questions I had and she was very patient with me.Being as it was a new place, new people, and I wasnt there, Dupre was nervous (what can I say, I know the cat aint brave). She was very understanding and knew to not push him too far. He needed additional testing (as he has a prior medical condition), and she offered to reschedule for another time, with no additional exam fee, after hes had time to recoup and have some anti-anxiety medication.Dr Heidi definitely understands both the physical and psychological needs of my cat and I couldnt be more pleased with this clinic. She even called after the appointment to follow up on the medication dosage/instruction and ask how he was doing.TLDR; knows her stuff & genuinely cares! Bring your pet here!

Staff and doctors are great! All three of my dogs received wonderful care, no matter what the reason they were there. We had a very old one that we unfortunately had to put down, and the staff and doctor were very comforting and helpful. Highly recommend.
We love Dr. Heidi. She has taken great care of all our babies. The vet techs are gentle and kind with all my elderly babies. They give good advice and work with our budget. They even offer acupuncture on site!
Just having moved from California during a pandemic (COVID-19) added many barriers to everyday life. I had no plans on getting a primary vet just yet in light of the current situation. Unfortunately my dog Oliver had other plans, and had an injury. I queried many vets, and Austin Urban Vet Center was by far the most efficient and responsive. They saw me within a couple days, and were so accommodating and took all the COVID precautions seriously which I appreciated. Dr. Heidi although I did not get to meet in person, spoke to me on the phone and updated me throughout the entire procedure. Cant thank you enough. I can say I found a great new vet in our new State. Also they gave Oliver a Certificate of Bravery and I just near lost it. Thank you!!!

I cant say enough good things about Austin Urban Vet Center. Ive been taking my pup there since he was about 8 weeks old and he turns 6 on Friday. Every person you talk to, from front desk to vet and vet techs, is so friendly and helpful. I recommend Austin Urban Vet to all of my dog friends and wouldnt go anywhere else!
We got a new pup in March and took her immediately to Austin Urban Vet. We have been thrilled with the staff from the front desk to the clinical team. They are so professional and easy to to work with—I wouldn’t trust our new baby with anyone else!!
Great vets. In the same building is Dirty Dog and they too do a great job. If you want to bathe your dog yourself, they have the facilities for that. It is extremely convenient to drop your pet off at the groomer and have a vet appointment the same day. Arrange with both DD and Urban Vet ahead of time and they fetch your dog while he is there. Dog arrives at the vet brandy-new clean! Perfect combination.
The best! Modern, clean, and affordable. The staff couldn’t have been any more helpful or kind- they were soooo good with Scottie, my dog, and really knowledgeable! I also got him groomed there by the grooming company they have, he was so clean and happy! Normally he doesn’t enjoy the groomers. I highly recommend this location as a whole for all your needs :)
Every time I need to schedule its easy to get my dog in at a time that works for me. The staff is extremely nice and you can tell they care about the animals there. On several occasions I have emailed the vet and she gets back to me immediately if my dog is ill. I LOVE the people at Austin Urban Vet!
Love this Vet! I travel all the way down from Crestview to have my pets looked after by these ladies! All of the Docs and assistants are fantastic with animals and really know their stuff. On top of that, they care a lot and really get to know you and your pets. I have four dogs and had one cat and none of them hate walking in to see their vet!

I visited Austin Urban Veterinary Center on the recommendation of our trainer and could not have felt better about my experience. I have a rescue pet that has exhibited some behavior issues, mainly severe fear aggression. Visits at other vet centers were frustrating and made me feel that the situation with our pet was hopeless. Dr. Helen and her team were patient, kind, and caring - to both me and my dog. They focused their attention on making the visit as fearless as possible so that we dont make the fear aggression issues worse. The entire staff was trained in how to respond and work with us - taking some of the stress out of the situation for me. The team spoke to me with a great deal of respect, giving me various options on how to most effectively utilize the visit for the comfort everyone involved. My lovely pet is now feeling much better and I am feeling more confident in the fact that Austin Urban Veterinary Center is dedicated to helping me keep her healthy and happy.
I moved at the beginning of the pandemic and they were so accommodating as a new patient during these crazy times. Their curbside pickup and drop off is great and gives me peace of mind, and it was great to chat with the vet directly on the phone.

I’ve been taking my dog here for 3 years and it has always been first class across the board. During COVID they have accomodated in every way while ensuring my dog always had access to care. I can’t recommend more strongly and can’t thank them enough.
Been taking our fur kids here since they opened their doors. Dr Erin and her staff are amazing. The boarding and day care facility are the best- no crates or kennels- they have little hotel rooms where you can log in and check on them! They have taken care of our entire pack, helped some pass, grieved with us and welcomed new babies in. I wouldnt dream of going anywhere else. They get it.
Weve been going to this vet for about 4 years and they have helped us with our dogs. We really enjoyed when we worked with Erin. now we work with another doctor shes good as well but sometimes we get passed on to attack that doesnt know our dogs like the vet does and you pay an awful lot to go there and I dont like being stuck with a tech who doesnt know our dogs this is why I gave only four star.
At AUV I took my young cattle dog in for a visit because he was sneezing and had been for a week. They were able to accurately diagnose and keep us up to date on what was needed to make him his healthiest.AUV has a real friendly staff and really good Doc’s.I will recommend all the people I love and have a good relationship with, who have pets, to AUV.
We brought our mini poodle in last week and had a great experience with Dr. Shannon and the team. Parking was easy, the place is clean, hardly any wait time, and everyone was so nice! Highly recommend!
I searched for various vets when I moved to Austin in 2012. Its a tough thing to search for; like looking for a doctor for children (for me at least). The front desk staff is very helpful in person and over the phone. They really love the animals and want the best for them. The doctors provide a lot of information and explain those confusing topics. Its also convenient for me as I work Downtown.
I LOVE Dr. Laurie Johnson. Her expertise in both Western and Chinese medicine gives her the range to offer a variety of treatment options for my pup. I know hes safe and in good hands with her. Dr. Laurie is my vet for life!
Erin and the girls are truly amazing! They take care of Champ like hes the only dog in the world. They are always sweet and happy to see Champ! We love these ladies they have been taking care of my babies for about 4 years now and when I had Paku they made sure my baby got everything he needed and saved his life from heartworms! You guys are truly a blessing!
Our one and only vet for the last five years and we couldnt be happier. Great staff, fun atmosphere and fabulous vets! Never a problem leaving our two very indulged and loved little monsters for an overnight or even a 10 day vacation because we know they will be given lots of time and attention. We are happy to have AUV so close to home simply because they are the best!.

Love this vet office. I discovered them when my dog had an allergic reaction to an insect bite and they were the closest and took excellent care of her. Now I go there for the location, friendly staff, and my dog Lucy never freaks out when we get there, which she did at every other vets office Id previously taken her to.
My first time visit was a wonderful experience. They were gentle and swift in examining my elderly cat (who was not happy to be there!) They did the x-rays and bloodwork and got the results back to me all within 20 minutes. I will continue to go back to them for my cats care.

Possibly the best place on earth. Ive been taking my dog here for about a year and weve gone for everything from your regular checkups to a life-threatening scare. Each time they treat her like the princess she is and I am beyond thankful for them. Trust me, my dog has literally been here for everything (not a bad mom, I swear... possibly a little over protective? who knows) and each experience has been wonderful.If you are looking for a place to take your pet, I hope you just found your answer.

Dr. Helen goes above and beyond for her clients. We have 3 dogs and one has type I diabetes which requires frequent visits/monitoring. Dr. Helen is always available, answering emails even on her day off; if she hasnt heard from us in a while she calls or emails just to check in. This is the only place in town I trust with my pets!

First and last bad experience here. Generally always available and easy to schedule. Never seen the same doctor once. Brought my pug in for annuals. They got me in and out, $500 later. I generally didnt have an issue overpaying for the convenience, but I thought after 5 years of using this establishment I would have had the benefit of some compassion. My dog developed an abscess on her belly. Not certain if Austin UV caused it with the barage of medications, overlooked it, or if developed after her appointmwnt. Issue is, I called them during normal business hours, asked to be seen same day, and was denied. The receptionist put me on hold to see what she could do. She got back on the phone and confirmed she could do nothing. I asked her which doctor deinied my request, and she later stated she didnt ask a doctor. Ironically, the urgent hospital was less costly than a normal appointnent anyway. Thanks for the lesson. No thanks for the compassion. Great place to be a nimbrr. Never returning.
My visit here could not have been better! I recently moved from Louisiana to ATX, so I had to google my vet options. I’m SO glad that I found Austin Urban!! Dr. Erin went above and beyond while answering all of my questions regarding my sweet Bunny!

Dr. K is such a sweet and gentle vet. My cats are both seniors and are usually a good bit grumpy at the vet. My girls will (with much grumbling and complaining) allow Dr. K do her exams on them. In the past, we had issues with my girls biting or scratching the vet, but not Dr. K!😺

I took my beloved Airedale there, he had some issues that were hard to diagnose.He was in Friday am for Xrays and I could tell he had taken a turn. He went downhill rapidly over the weekend, on monday Dr. Homburg gave me some bad news which I suspected as he really hardly moved after Saturday. It was inevitable. My sister flew out to be with me, my boss and a girlfriend stayed w me and Dr Homberg came to my house to set him free. He was able to leave surrounded by those he loved.I appreciate her for being able to do this.
I was told by the management never to set foot in the Vet Center again today, because I questioned a disingenuous policy of the business. The policy of Austin Urban Vet Center is to deny medication requests from online companies that offer the same product at much more competitive pricing. My medication request was initially denied (for the second time) because according to them, 1800PetMeds is not from a trusted source and has a placebo effect meaning its non-effective. 1800PetMeds has FDA/EPA approval, and it has certification through the National Board of Pharmacy. But according to the management, that isnt good enough. I personally, have never had a problem with any medications from 1800PETMEDS.I explained to them that they are violating federal consumer protection laws and indirectly slandering another business. A consumer has the right to choose who they do business with, but it apparently doesnt matter to them. Under duress, they eventually agreed to filling the medication request, but Austin Urban Vet could offer no plausible explanation or evidence supporting their accusations. Its quite apparent why they take this position, and its for the almighty dollar. Fellow consumers, I recommend that you do not do business with Austin Urban Vet Center, it doesnt appear to be trustworthy. If you question their policies, you may be banned as well and it will be a waste of your time.On a separate note - The level of care is satisfactory, but overpriced.If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

2022-08-06I love AUVC. No matter which vet we see, I always feel acknowledged, listened to, and taken seriously. I completely trust my pets with them. One of the staff remembered my dog immediately even though we hadn’t been in months and she’s only been for regular checkups! Completely worth paying more for such a nice experience.

2022-04-17Every time I bring my boy Lenny to Austin Urban Vet Center, everyone is so kind and professional. From the reception desk to the technicians and we absolutely love Dr Helen Rudnick for always taking such care with both my dachshunds. She has been helping care for my dog Lenny, who has been recovering from being totally paralyzed. Thank goodness he is all recovered, I don’t know if he would have walked again without her help and experience!! We’re so grateful to Dr.Rudnick and everyone at Austin Urban Vet Center.

2022-06-20My dog is pretty nervous in new situations, especially when people try to touch her. These people really have good dogside manner. She was calm and her ears were perked up, she was panting as if getting a belly pat. They injected her, she didn’t even flinch. Not to mention, more than once I’ve been a few minutes late for my appointment, and they didn’t even make a big deal of it. Just took her back, did the work, and smiled the whole time. I will use this vet as long as I am in Austin, if your dog likes ANYONE, they’ll love these people.

2022-02-07During the snow storm my cat got sick and all the vets in my area were closed. I left a voice mail for Austin Urban Vet Center and they got back to me as soon as they reopened with a same day appointment. The vet and front desk staff were absolutely amazing. I instantly felt confident in the level of care my cat was receiving. It was my first time with Austin Urban Vet Center and I loved how open and upfront they were with costs. Bringing my cat here was a great decision and they are now his regular vet. I highly recommend Austin Urban Vet Center.

2022-04-13I take all my animals to see Dr. Shannon at Austin Urban. She is the smartest, most thoughtful, and compassionate veterinarian Ive taken my pets to see in Austin in the 40 years Ive lived here. She was able to monitor my cats eye for cancer, and removed the eye before the cancer spread. After the surgery she would check up frequently on my cats recovery. She does not forget about the animals when they arent at the vet. She remembers their names, checks up on them regularly, and gives good advise about food and medicine that can improve your pets health. She also understands Eastern medicine, and her knowledge about herbal remedies compliments her Western medical practice well. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats, they all love Dr. Shannon!

2022-07-21I went here for the first time and Dr. Porta was very patient with my pups who are a bit scared of going to the vet. He was very thorough in his exam and I loved how friendly and caring he is. The tech was also very friendly, and made my dogs feel more comfortable while getting their vaccines. The only two things I could see that need more improvement is: free parking (not enough client spaces) and the wait time. I still decided to give 5 stars since I think everything else was perfect!
