My enthusiastic one year old doodle decided to go through a fence instead of around it and cut his belly. Took a bunch of staples. Vet tech was very informative. We are really glad they are 10 minutes from our house. Highly recommend.
AVDC has been amazing since our first visit there. We had taken our fur baby to a Kyle vet that could never diagnose the issue. Our first visit to AVDC (on a Saturday) they found the issue and worked on our dog until it was fixed. They were mindful of cost (checked with us every step of the way prior to moving to the next expense) and took great care of our dog.Dr Donop also personally calls us during every appointment to give us a report before his appointment is done. The staff is always so nice and helpful.Your fur baby is in GREAT hands here!
Hands down the best vet in S Austin. Weve been to many with our senior Schnauzer and when we recently got two puppies, we wanted a vet we could have for life. A neighbor recommended Dr Donop at Austin Vet and I could not be more thankful! The office is warm and genuinely welcoming. They are flexible with scheduling and have never had us wait more than 5 minutes when we arrive. Dr. Donop is patient, thorough, and extremely knowledgable. Cannot say enough great things about this vet!
The doctors and the entire staff are truly amazing. Each and every one of them are passionate about their jobs and the animals they treat. We have taken our cats, dog and even our hamster in for treatment and theyre always so kind and helpful. Our animals are a big part of our family and we want only the best for them. I completely trust the doctors with my babies. They have helped us when we have taken strays in and even did a phone consult with my fathers vet in Michigan when a diagnoses was in question. They truly care. If you want the best for your fur babies this is the place for you!
They have been great. My 11 year old kitty was diagnosed with Diabetes and it’s been financially straining to go to the vet often with her. They have been very understanding and patient with me to get time through it/learn how to manage it. They have been giving me options on how to cut down my costs and just overall very great to work with. Thank you!
First time patient. Our dog had surgery. I highly recommend this place! My dog is super nervous/anxious and is not pet friendly with other animals and new places/new people makes behaviors worse. You never know what you get in new situations with our little Duke. We normally have to go through the back door for treatment or the lobby has to be cleared due to his level of anxiety and lashing out..First, visit Dr. Donop came out to the vehicle andstarted his assessment until above accommodations could be made...Wow never has this happened.. He kept my high anxiety nervous 155lbs Mastiff calm..Everyone has been so great. The whole team is so wonderful! There was not one person that did not treat Duke like he was their own.. folks this was not for show..this is genuine care and love for their patients. Duke did not react at all..huge sign of genuine hearts..In addition to the surgery, I had a punch list of 6-7 items unrelated that needed to be taken care of while my high anxiety nervous dog was there. All was handled. I had millions of questions and made millions of calls being a concerned nervous fur mommy. New places makes me very nervous for Duke. The team handled everything and me with grace/compassion.And Dr Donop wow!! I have no words... awesome man, passionate, caring, thorough, Genuinely concerned at the well-being Duke. He’s the best! Just a great human being with a wonderful heart!I am forever grateful...
Absolutely Love this Vet! I will not take my Kitty Boo anywhere else. They completely understand that you are attached to your pet, and take that into account when you arrive. On my first visit with my new kitty, I was nervous. They walked me around the entire center and explained everything to me. I have never had a vet do that in the past. They are also great with animals! Dr. Varga has two cats himself, and he was great with Boo. I feel very comfortable taking my cat here, and would not want to take her anywhere else, even though this vet is a bit out of the way for me. I would definitely recommend Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital to my friends!
I had a great experience here. My dog was in critical condition and Dr Donop worked so hard to figure out what the problem was and how to treat him. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating, they even made me coffee! Everyone was so thorough and I can tell the whole staff truly loves animals. I felt so safe leaving my dog in their hands. Highly recommended!
Doctor Sarah saved our family cat, Mushroom. Hes been so playful and happy and loving again since his intense rear surgery, everything has closed and calmed, healing very well. Very good, reliable people. Everybody was very professional and friendly :)
We drive 27 miles one way to see the doctors at the Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Many years ago we asked them for a second opinion regarding an issue we had with one of our cats and we knew then that we had found the clinic that we needed.All of the doctors and staff are friendly and very helpful and we know our babies are getting the best care possible when they visit the clinic.We would very highly recommend this clinic and the doctors and staff because they are caring and their facility has the equipment needed to diagnose and treat your pets.
Dr. Sarah and the team have always been kind, patient and thoughtful with my grand dog and me for the two years weve been going to AVDH. They went above and above the call of duty Saturday when I found out my granddaughters gerbil was on deaths door. AVDH doesnt normally treat little critters, but no one else would look at him, even though he was in a critical state. Dr. Sarah agreed to see him, and was able to get him back on his little feet. I love AVDH.
Hands down the best vet in Austin! Everyone there is so nice and they are very straight forward with excellent advice to make you feel comfortable in your decision. I have had to make some very difficult decisions here and the compassion I have received from the DRs here is really pretty incredible. Highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed.
UPDATED REVIEW:I want to give kudos to Dr. Sarah and the AVDH technicians who worked so diligently to help my dog after a seizure. Iggy is now well known here, feels right at home!ORIGINAL REVIEW:After my Italian Greyhound was diagnosed with a potential heart murmur, I searched this place out online to confirm whether or not this murmur was anything to worry about. From the moment I spoke with their staff, I knew this would be a positive experience. They offered me same day and a next day appointment, lots of flexibility and the doctor I dealt with, Barrett, was extremely knowledgeable. Although this place is too far from where I live to take my dog in for regular veterinary visits, I would recommend this place to anybody seeking top notch care for their pet. I wish I could give this veterinarian office more than 5 stars because they are absolutely incredible. We have been seeing Dr. Varga for the last 5 years and he is not only personable and kind with people he is incredible with pets. He just LOVES his job and it shows.I have taken my guinea pigs and dog Vanta here and they are always wonderful with the care we receive. I have moved from Austin and will still drive 30-40 mins to come to this clinic because the care and staff are just that exceptional. Highly recommend! 🐾🐕
Always an excellent experience. The front desk team, doctors and nurses really love what they do and treat our little friends with love and devotion. Besides providing excellent care, they make us feel at home and - most of all - go beyond the call of duty to give to our beloved pets everything they deserve. Highly recommended!
Amazing vet! The staff is friendly and very helpful. My yorkie had her teeth cleaned and a small growth removed and it went perfectly. Dr. Sarah was great and took a lot of time talking things over. She also made several follow-up calls to check on her. I would definitely recommend her!
Great experiences here with Dr. Vargas and Dr. Donop. We came to them after our dog was diagnosed with heart-worms at another vet, who seemed clueless about the best treatment.After coming in to seek a second opinion to Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital, the level of understanding and explanation could not have been better. They have all the equipment youd expect to see in a human hospital including X-rays, MRI scanners, you name it. They quickly answered all my questions and made me feel at ease.Our pup recovered after his injections, and has been coming back here ever since for checkups. I cant recommend the Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital highly enough.
This is by far the BEST Veterinary Hospital I have ever taken my pets to. Dr. Donop is my favorite, as he is very personable and knows veterinary medicine inside and out. Plus they have all state of the art diagnostic equipment so if there is an emergency, they are more than capable of handling it right at the hospital. Best Vet ever!
Dr. Donop is the best veterinarian we have ever had. Bruiser loves him! Bruiser has had two surgeries and on going care from Dr. Donop for five years. We dont live close but its worth the drive to know our beloved Bruiser is in good hands. Bruiser loves all the staff members and is always happy to see them, no matter what the circumstances which further attests to their kind treatment towards him. Highly recommend!
Dr Varga is the best, my cat Julianne went in Saturday, very sick. They had an emergency but fit us in and took care of my sweet cat. I am happier than happy to say, Julianne is feeling much, much better. Thank you so much for making her well again!!! I give yall 5 ❤❤❤❤❤s!!!!
I trust the folks at this clinic 100%. Theyve saved the lives of countless animals my family has had over the years. Their staff is friendly, understanding, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. For a short time a few years ago we took our animals to a different veterinary clinic (had a member of the family that got a job at a vet clinic) and after a number of poor experiences there we immediately switched back to AVDH. I wouldnt want to take my pets anywhere else. 5/5.
We are a dog family that was fortunate to have discovered ADVH shortly after moving to Austin in 2006. These vets and their assistants have every instrument needed to diagnose and treat your pet....and they do it with the same love and attention you would want for your pet. Theyre always friendly and do a great job with record-keeping.My wife and I cant say enough good things about this great organization.
We first found this wonderful clinic when one of our cats needed an ultrasound of her heart and the facility we were referred to quoted a very very high price. We went out to see Dr. Donop who did the ultrasound for much less and showed us everything about our cats heart. All of our cats have been rescue cats and so they can come with health problems that you are not aware of at the time. After taking another of our cats to Dr. Donop for mouth issues and getting the treatment the cat needed and the understanding of what the problem was, we switched to this clinic for all our cats. We have referred others to the clinic and always received phone calls of gratitude after they took their pets to the clinic. The clinic is 30 miles one way from our home but the drive is absolutely worth the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your pets receive the best care possible. The staff is very friendly and all the doctors are great. We feel like we have found the only vet clinic we will ever need.
We didnt have a regular veterinarian when we first visited Austin Vet Diagnostic Hospital. All of our appointments have been with Dr. Donop. He is fantastic. My husband, our dog, and myself all really felt comfortable yet confident with his relaxed demeanor. He is very knowledgeable but does not jump to conclusions - we appreciated the way that he presented out our options in how/whether to proceed with ACL surgery for our dog. Dr. Donop never made us feel rushed and answered questions thoroughly and I am so thankful that he never pressured us into an immediate decision. I would definitely recommend him! (...and have recommended him to family.) The lady who works the front desk is always very kind as well. I wish I could remember her name but it is great seeing the same friendly face every time that we visit.

Great folks at Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. After years of trying to help our dog with her digestive problems at our regular vet, they diagnosed her issue and have her on a regime that has pretty much made her digestion normal. For 2 years now, she has been free of the problems that have plagued her and subsequently us her whole life. Everyone is friendly and we have always been well treated and there is a little dog whisperer in most of the people who work there.
I took my cat to Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital as a referral from my local Veterinarian. I was so pleased with the experience from being greeted friendly upon my entrance to the openness of the facility and the care and expertise of the staff and Dr. Donop. I would highly recommend this business to take your pets too. I really was impressed with their expertise and knowledge and making my pet feel comfortable throughout his procedures.
Dr Varga has been amazing in the care of my yorkie, Chloe. She has had major heath issues that required back to back surgeries and his skill and care for her were incredible. She loves the hospital and goes running in for treats every time we have a health check up. I highly recommend ADVH and Dr Varga!!
We started taking our pets to Austin Diagnostic Veterinary Clinic (the clinic) in 2005. We sometimes questioned the veterinarians diagnoses and treatment plans but followed them faithfully. To date, we have spent over $33,000 in the clinic on four cats.Our 20-year old cats health started declining rapidly in early 2015 and she was hospitalized for several days, The vet told us she was doing great when she was released. We called them three days later on a Sunday because we were convinced she was dying. After we described her symptoms, the vet said he felt she would be fine, implying that we were overreacting. She was dead the next day.We recently moved to Georgetown and shortly after made the 130-mile round trip to take our ailing 18-year old cat to the clinic. He stayed there one night, and we picked him up the next day after we were told he was doing great. The next day, when it was clear he was still very ill, we again took him in, got more meds, and were told he was much better. Within five hours after bringing him home, we had to take him to an emergency clinic to have him euthanized.We hope the success of this clinic does not prevent them from giving honest and caring advice to their clients and from showing personal concern in the future. Had they done so in our case, our precious cat would have been spared two days of what was clearly needless, excruciating suffering. It now seems the revenue generated from us was primary to the clinic, while they have demonstrated indifference to the welfare and outcome of our pets’ treatment.
I am incredibly happy with Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital, Dr. Varga and the staff! Exceptional job on two complicated surgeries and help to keep costs down along with great follow up and help for me!Both of my pups needed surgery and I went to Dr. Varga for a second opinion - he was top notch on knowledge and experience, great with the pups and sympathetic to me. Both surgeries could have been complicated - one in an eye and another that could have extended into the spine. They were affordable on the initial visit and saw both pups even though I only had an appointment for one. They got the girls in for surgery the very next day. The clinic was just awesome - Dr. Varga called me on request before the procedure and did all he could to keep my cost low, the procedures were almost half of the upper estimate showing they really try to keep it as reasonable as possible. Cyndy called after each pup was done which I greatly appreciated. Both surgeries went great and both surgical areas look good - I have seen some where they are not nearly as careful. When I picked the girls up Jillian double checked the medications and helped us get to the truck. Incredibly impressed and thankful for our experience over the last two days!
Dr. Varga and the staff were incredible. Not my normal vet but my dog needed attention quick and they were able to get him in and set both he and I at ease. Cannot thank them enough. From Perry and myself thank you all for being incredible!
I believe Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital has by far the best veterinarians and vet techs in Austin. Everyone, from Jeff and Cindy at the front desk, to Pam and jillian, Dr. Donop and Dr. Varga give 100% of their care, compassion and expertise every time I go there. The knowledge and insight these vets have has saved two of my dogs lives.I like that they have all the equipment for x-rays, surgery and labwork so that I dont have to take my pets to another place for that.Their rescue program, Wags to Riches, resulted in me getting a little dog (Bruno) that has been the greatest joy ever.I have tried other vets in the area and NOTHING comes close to the care from AVDH.

Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital is by far, the best vet we have visited in years. Vets have almost become like walk in clinics. You never know who youre going to see and if youre just being shewed away with meds and hopes your animal will get better. They know how to make anyone feel welcome, from the staff to the open clinic environment.Dr. Varga saved my dog and I am more than grateful of this. The hospital is well equipped to handle what seems like any situation. Pinky is still with us today because of it.Thank you AVDH for everything.

This place is amazing. Dr.Varga and the whole staff are very knowledgable and know what they are doing. My cat had to have some cancerous masses removed and I was very impressed by the whole process.They also have the best prices compared to any other animal hospital in Austin. I never am worried that they will recommend unneccessary procedures/tests or rip me off like other vets Ive been to in the past. Very helpful and wonderful staff.

We have been going to AVDH for 25 years. We have taken 7 cats, 3 dogs, our family pets over this time period, and for each of our babies, they have loved them like their own. As our aging dogs needed to pass away, the whole staff felt our pain, allowed us to decide and stood by us during. Calling afterwards to see if we were OK.Then, with new puppies and kittens, kept us alerted to shot schedules and check ups.We always feel like their advice and care is top of the line. They offer advanced equipment and techniques, and they fall into the way-above-average, best-of-the-best category.I chose them as my regular vets and that decision is probably why my 17-year old cat is sitting beside me, happy and alive right now. AVDH brought my pet back from the brink twice and for two unrelated issues.Aside from being brilliant diagnosticians and surgeons, they are lovely people. Bright, caring, communicative, open, collaborative.They have a lot of passion for what they do, deep respect for the pets they serve, and sensitivity toward pet owners. Right up to having separate dog and cat waiting rooms.All three docs are hair-on-fire smart; Donop, Varga, Kneupper all do a great job. Really, Cant say enough good things. Love them, they are my heroes. I am grateful every day for their saving the life of my best friend, and grateful for how much they cared about her while saving her, too.

Austin Vet Diognostic is the only vet hospital Ive trusted 100%. I live in Central Austin, and have a busy schedule, and theyre still worth the drive. Theyre extremely accommodating, they give great advice for free (I once called w/a question and the woman on the phone did everything she could to get me the best answer), and they never try to upsell. Moreover, everybody I meet there is so dang nice; I feel welcome as soon as I walk through the door.
We had such a fantastic experience with the team and Dr. Sarah. Our sweet buddy, Cowboy had an accident on the holiday weekend and they were able to accommodate him immediately. I was so worried about him but they took such good care of him and were compassionate towards the costs of such an accident. I can’t thank them enough!
At a very difficult time I wanted my special pup to go to a hospital that was total care, where she wouldnt need to go through the stress and discomfort of having to be moved to an emergency clinic for overnight care. This was the place. They have all the latest equipment and best care Ive ever seen. Dr. Varga and his staff showed my Shala through a very rough process and have now been introduced and are caring for my new pup, Misha. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Austin Veternary Diagnostic Hospital is an amazing place. The Doctors and Technicians obviously love animals as much as the people who bring their pets to them. One of the only veterinary offices that my husband and I have gone to here in Austin (and, we have been to a few) that actually seems to care more about helping the pets than how much money they can make doing it. We highly recommend them!
My dogs have been going to these fine folks for more than 15 years. The care my pets have received is top-notch. My dogs are part of my family, and they are treated as such. My current dog has issues requiring more patience than normal, and the AVDH staff is wonderful to provide it.
I can’t say I’ve had a bad experience with a vet but these people are truly exceptional. ESPECIALLY if you go there in an emergency!!! They care for your pet and you. They invited me in back with my pet (never had another vet do this) where I could be by his side in his time of need. They’ve earned my business for life.
Dr. Varga and the staff at AVDH are the best in Texas! We always receive the best care from them and this last visit was no exception. We thought our 10 year old lab was just aging, but it turned out he had a tumor on his spleen. When Dr. Varga saw him he told us he was actually in distress and was dying, and we had absolutely no clue. Dr. Varga instantly knew Wrigley was bleeding internally just by looking at him and that it was an emergency to try to save him. He did an ultrasound which showed a mass on his spleen, so he was taken back for emergency surgery. Dr. Varga was right and his spleen had ruptured and he was bleeding internally. Without Dr. Varga’s knowledge and attention to detail he would have died right in front of us and we would have no clue that he was even sick! The doctors and staff at AVDH thrive in emergency situations and treat their patients as their own pets. While Wrigley was recovering at the hospital we received calls and pictures from the staff updating us which made us feel so much relief after such a scary situation. He is now at home and acting like his old self! We are so thankful for Dr. Varga and AVDH!
Dr. Varga and the rest of the staff at Austin Vet have been very caring and patient with all the recent problems my Lucy has had and worked with me to help keep the costs of her many many problems down to a more manageable level. Lucy loves them too - she always is wagging her tail when she sees them (though it could have something to do with the treats they give her).
We LOVE our cats as if they are our children. And just as we wanted the best care for our children we want the very best medical care for our cats. For this reason we use AVDH for every veterinary need that arises from annual checkups to major surgeries. Dr. Donup is absolutely one of the best veterinarians we have ever been to and the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and skill of all the staff at AVDH makes us feel confident that we will truly get the best treatment for our pets that is available.
Took my elderly Vizsla Sofia in for examination and removal of a worrisome lump on her head. Great experience from start to finish. Facilities are CLEAN, updated, well-maintained. Clean is important and most vets dont get that or they dont maintain a facility that is conducive to clean and good-smelling conditions. Staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. Care was thorough and follow-through was excellent. Doc and staff all seem very knowledgable. Overall, my comfort level is very high and I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone.
Hands down the best vet I have ever taken my dog to. Just moved here from Chicago and we already felt so welcomed. Everyone here is super friendly, knowledgeable, and they treated my dog the perfect way. So glad I live only 3 minutes away.

Was searching for a new vet in the Austin area after years of visiting Vets and feeling overcharged. I put a note out on Facebook for Vet recommendations and two were for AVDH. We gave AVDH a shot and I have been very pleased. I love the fact that they are upfront with pricing and the staff has been wonderful. They are truly animal lovers. As far as pricing its very competitive and reasonable. They have a sheet listing out what your annual exams and shots should cost so you know what to expect! I have never seen that anywhere else.We have a new puppy, a cat, and an elderly dog. I know exactly what everything should cost for their wellness. For example at our old vet they said the new puppy exam would be somewhere b/w $150 and $200. Here they said it would be $71 and that included everything a puppy would need. For the first time leaving a vet I was actually charged what i was quoted on the phone!
I am so grateful for the people here, they saved my dogs life. They were all so nice, took great care of her and did an amazing job!!
We recently had to put down our beloved Black Lab who was 12 1/2 years old. We had been anticipating it because she had really slowed down and had arthritic hind legs. We noticed something in her mouth that did not look normal and took her in to have it checked. Dr. Vargas took one look at it and knew it was a large cancerous tumor. My worst fears were realized. She would not die of old age as I had always hoped. I burst into tears since we had just lost a wonderful cat and were already heartbroken over that. He empathically explained our options and then I went home to impart the bad news to the rest of the family. We all agreed shed had a good life and didnt want to put her through a major operation and we knew her hind legs were not getting better but would likely only get worse. My husband and I took her in on a recent Saturday morning and Dr. Donop and Magda helped us put her down. I cradled her head in my lap as she was administered the injection and she just went to sleep. It was the most peaceful passing she could have had and we will be forever grateful for their kindness and compassion. We have been their clients for almost 13 years and we will never go to another vet. THEY ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST!

We have been bringing our pets to AVDH for many years now and they have always shown and provided the greatest care for our pets. They keep you informed about procedures that have needed to be done on our pets and have always followed up to see how they are progressing with the healing process.
Dr.s Donop and Varga are absolutely the best veterinarians in Austin! The staff is so friendly, as are all the people who work there. They love your pets and Smacky and Joey love to go there. I highly recommend them!

Our 14 year old Aussie, Cheyenne, recently had to have Gall Bladder removal and it could not have gone better. 3 weeks post surgery she is more energetic than shes been in the last year and doing great. Profound expertise or miracle? Kermit the Siamese cat had an operation in 2015 and has been on meds ever since. His health started declining after losing his best friend, Oscar. Dr. Donop does an allergy test because hes pragmatic, and now Kermit is happy, healthy, and complete off meds. Kermit has seen A LOT of veterinarians, including those who claim to be Austins best, as well as other from Oregon to North Carolina. No matter where I live, Dr. Donop will be in consultation with all of Kermits care.
The staff at Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital is like family. Each and every one. And their care for our aging Lab is world class.
Awesome best describes our experience. We brought our dog to our regular vet; she took xrays and told us a huge tumor was wrapped around Peppers lung and heart (an error). She tried to get us an appt. with a clinic that had a sonogram but that was going to take 3 weeks. We googled and found this hospital. I told them my story and Dr. Varga offered to see us that afternoon. We were thrilled. Dr. Varga performed additional tests and confirmed the tumor was contained in one lobe of the lung. He performed surgery almost immediately and Pepper recovered for the most part in 2 weeks. This hospital has a sonogram and CT Scan on-sight! This hospital is well-equipped and the doctors are awesome. We will only use them in the future, even though they are 45 minutes from our home.
The best vets office ever. We have also referred two of our friends here as well, and I was referred by my boss. Just shows the level of care if they keep getting referral after referral from their clients.
Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital provided amazing care to our beloved in his final weeks. Dr. Varga was extremely informative and kind. He took my call before we were clients, when I was searching for quotes for chemo tx after a devastating hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Without Dr. Varga and AVDH we would not have been able to treat our baby, provide him with comfort, and feel some comfort that we did all we could. He was able to come up with a treatment plan that fit our budget. AVDH was kind and comforting. I cannot praise them or thank them enough for the help they provided.
I no longer use AVDH due to staffs lack of knowledge and gruff attitude towards customers. For basic service, they are fine, but if your pet has allergies do NOT take them to the Drippin location. I paid to have tests done to determine my dogs allergies. Most were food allergies, so I started buying hypoallergenic food from them. One brand was suggested, but care must be taken to select the right formula. Theres one formula with soy and one without (specifically marked hypoallergenic.) They kept trying to sell me the formula with soy saying it was the same as the hypoallergenic formula and I kept trying to tell them to READ THE INGREDIENTS. Long story short, the vet tech said Well, Im not going to argue with you still claiming she was correct when I could clearly show her she was wrong. They also had me purchase an expensive regimen of sublingual allergy drops which didnt work at all. I have since found another vet who has been more knowledgeable and helpful with my pets allergies.
Dr. Donop and the entire staff are wonderful and have taken loving care of my cats. Theyre all incredibly thoughtful and talented, and go above and beyond every time. I cant recommend them highly enough.
I am so pleased we have found Dr. Varga. We have been fighting ear infections for over 15 years and he is the ONLY Doctor that has cured her. They take their time and it really shows they love what they do. I tell everyone about our wonderful experience!
I am always impressed with everyone here, Dr. Sarah K was my vet and shes always been smart, compassionate, helpful, and kind. I would bring my pets here as long as I can.

Dr. Varga is great! Ive taken my dog to see him for a few years now. The environment at the office is friendly, and all the staff is helpful.
After my dog had a stroke, and I took him into the Diagnostic Hospital to have him put down, one of the veterinarians used my Love of my Dog to talk me into spending almost $6,000 on scans and tests just to make sure there was nothing that could be done, saying he was confident that they could probably do something.Nothing is worse in this world than getting someones hopes up for a false reason, which in this case was just to make money off of my poor dog.My dog Thor was made to suffer through tests for 5 days while he was paralyzed having to get his own filth on him. Very cruel and I know now, now being a few years later, that it was all done just to get money out of me. VERY Unprofessional.

A bit pricey, but the vet I trust most They obviously love animals. The facility is scrupulously clean and I really like the separate entrance for felines.

2021-11-27Such a wonderful and caring staff. I called on the way there because my dog had gotten into a bag of chocolate donuts and I had no idea how many he had eaten. Despite no doubt having a full schedule, they were able to see Henry and his urgent situation immediately. They even let me stay with him as the meds they gave him kicked in and induced vomiting, and sent us home with fluids and medications to make sure his stomach recovered. My dog, normally scared of new places and people, was comfortable with them handling him and accepted comfort from one of the staff when I went back to the lobby. Thank you so much Austin Vet Diagnostic, for making this as painless as possible for both of us

2022-06-28I called AVD on Saturday because my little chihuahua looked to be having seizures. AVD graciously was willing to accept her as an emergency case. They performed a slew of expensive tests, and the doctor concluded that even though it looked like a seizure, she was actually fainting. When I explained that she never lost consciousness, he insisted. I brought her home and it happened again, which I caught on video. I called the doctor again and he said, no, she was still fainting, even though I told him her back was arched and she was running in place the whole time. That night she had a cluster of three seizures back to back. She became paralyzed and dysphoric. She never recovered. She spent several hours in the emergency room where they confirmed she was obviously having seizures, and then they told me she would not be okay. I had to euthanize her. One of the greatest loves of my life died screaming, paralyzed and afraid. I will never know what would have happened if AVD had believed me and started her on anti-seizure medicine. Or if, when I called them back and told them I had a video, if they would have had enough interest and curiosity to watch it and saw what was plainly a seizure. I will never know.

2020-09-04My pup needed an endoscopy. I was referred by my vet to Dr.Varga. This place is amazing, professional. We were treated with kindness and compassion, the doctor and staff were very knowledgeable about the procedure. They took fantastic care of my Loki, I highly recommend Dr.Varga! Loki is back chasing lizards!

2020-10-01Dr. Sarah is amazing. After months and $25K+ of tests at Firehouse vets in Austin with no results in finding a diagnose Dr. Sarah diagnosed our dog with food allergies and put her on a special diet on our first visit here. They have almost all labs and diagnostic testing capabilities in house. They also issue travel certificates for when we go abroad. Dr. Sarah has been a blessing for our dogs health and we are grateful.

2021-09-15I literally cannot say enough about the wonderful people who work at Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. We have come for regular care and it was great but when we had a serious problem with our dog, they went above and beyond. Our 9 year old standard poodle was yelping and we were worried. We brought him in and Dr. Varga gave him an examine and suggested a CT scan. Thankfully because he had damage to his spinal cords that had gone unnoticed for way too long. Hes just a chill and stoic dog and he was hiding his pain. He had spinal surgery by Dr. Varga and was treated like family. While I was waiting for his results from the scan, they let him out of his pen and let me lay with him on the floor in the back. Everything was going on around us, incredible care by all the techs and vets and they just let me be with my dog, my baby. After the surgery, which went well, he was still having issues. They gave me advice over the phone. Were responsive and helpful. When I got really worried, they had me bring him in immediately. The doctor stayed late and waited for us to get there. They took him in and gave him immediate care. The next day when I called to check on him, they said he should probably stay another night. I was devastated. I asked if my husband and I could come visit him and they said, of course. We got to go lay with him and comfort him and they let us bring a blanket from home to give him even more comfort. I honestly cant say enough about everyone there. The front desk staff is amazing, the tech staff and Dr. Varga. Incredible bedside manner, compassion, empathy and just wonderful people. I wont go anywhere else with any of my pets. Truly stunning group of people.

2020-02-06Outstanding pet care from a cheerful, attentive and qualified staff! From reception, to medical attendants, to Veterinary Doctors — the care you and your pets will receive is top-notch. I have been bringing my dog here for care for two years now, and consider them to be the best in the Austin area. If high pet medical care costs worry you, ask about their Wellness Plan, which covers most basic care outright, and many special care costs at a percentage discount, all for the cost of a nominal monthly auto-deduction. I couldn’t recommend this facility and the highly qualified staff more highly!

2020-02-28Highly Recommend.My country Vet diagnosed my service dog with swollen prostate (possible cancer). He told me I needed to take him to someone like A&M or a Veterinarian hospital with more diagnostic equipment. After my Vet called Several different places. He recommended Austin Veterinary Hospital. I am so happy he did as from the moment I called, showed up for appointment, running test, talking about diagnosis and sending us home with medicine (until labs test come back). They set down with us and talked/explained our choices, kept us informed with cost . Every (Dr. and techs). Showed great concern and love for my dog and the crisis at hand. They even made extra time(They were booked solid) for Extra tests on the initial day. So that we would not have to drive hours back the next day…

2020-12-12My family has been using Austin diagnostic for years now. Probably 20+ years. I adopted a dog this year and he has now been going to this clinic. I find Dr. Donop to be very knowledgeable. He is also friendly, and upbeat which makes for a more pleasant experience. Everyone at the clinic has a kind demeanor as well which makes for a warm welcoming environment. My dog definitely hates going to the vet but they make the experience as fast and easy as it can be.

2021-04-01Im a dog owner for the first time in 11 years! Apartment living and my job were not going to work for me to raise a large breed dog. Ive now adopted a 2 year old pointer/lab mix and called to inquire about a few services and costs. Jannah answered the phone and was an absolute doll! She answered my questions and is sending me an email to recap our conversation. When your dog isnt just your dog, but your family, you want to know they are in good hands.
