I can’t say enough good things about Basepoint! The staff, every step of the way, are caring and supportive. Katey, especially, has been an outstanding community partner and resource. The counselors go above and beyond. I’ve referred several patients/clients, even a family member and close friend because I know they’ll be in good hands. Basepoint will always be my go to referral for excellent and compassionate care!
If I could rate 0 stars I would. I called to make an appt since I am having quite a rough time and was told I needed to been seen at a psychiatric hospital immediately and that I was going to harm myself?? I am not suicidal… I was lied to when given information about another facility as well. I just wanted to become a patient of this location, not to be told I was suicidal… As if all of the progress I’ve made meant nothing. The receptionist blew everything I said out of proportion and honestly made my entire situation worse. I have been trying to recover from the disaster she created since last week not only at my job, but mentally. I will not recommend this place to ANYONE. Never in my life did I think a place like this would make me feel worse about my mental health by trying to GET HELP.
BasePoint Academy was a blessing. It helped my daughter and our family and she is doing so much better. The staff is friendly and work so well with the kids and their parents. Its a safe place for teens with anxiety and depression, sh, st to go and learn coping skills. I would recommend them to any family that needs help. I couldnt ask for a better, healing place for my child.
What I love about Basepoint is that their communication is the best. Katey has helped so much and she is so quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Basepoint also offers transportation which is so awesome and makes it accessible in so many ways for people outside the forney area. They even offer same day assessments! If you’re looking for staff that care, are professional and will communicate, go to Basepoint :)
Basepoint Academy goes above and beyond to address the mental health challenges teens today are facing. The skills learned at Basepoint are valuable tools that can be used all throughout life. To make their services more readily available and easier for family members, they even offer transportation to and from their facility. Not to mention, their staff is a pleasure to work with!
I had 2 appointments cancelled and rescheduled, have been waiting 2 months to see someone. My appointment was set for today, virtual visit. I didnt fill out the new patient paperwork and provider is unable to see me. The front desk and office manager are very professional and polite. However, as a new patient that has yet to be seen, I will not be rescheduling my appointment. Ive paid $150.00 for whatever test they needed me to do and am furious with their doctors and lack of respect for their patients time. Im pretty sure I wont get a refund and we will see if they are willing to forward the test to a new practice. I dont recommend if youre a new client. Maybe I am just the one-off that keeps getting pushed back but I am so incredibly frustrated.
They have an exceptional team and program. I worked with their Director of Interventional Psychiatry, Dr. Rita McCallan, at another facility. She is a caring and compassionate provider. She’s an excellent addition to their executive team. Their teen outpatient program provides top notch behavioral health services while tending to their education needs. Another aspect of this program I really like is that the Medical Director, Dr. Kimberly Robbins, is on site and specifically there to meet the medical needs of the teens.
I dont really write reviews but I feel like others should know about this resource. Finding helpful services to treat trauma can be difficult, fortunately Basepoints staff and services were exactly what I needed. If youre suffering from emotional pain and trauma you owe it to yourself to check them out.
I will not discredit the clinician. She was very helpful. The process which irritated me most is the way they do billing. I have insurance so I’m use to copays and things being due at the time of service not when completed. If it is due upon completion, pricing is already disclosed. For example I call to schedule an appointment, my insurance is verified and I’m told what my copay, coinsurance will be.I was told after I saw the provider at this office. Oh We are waiting on a code- we cant tell you the deductible until the provider gives us the code. She yells the code oh that will be $175. Unacceptable!! I won’t be returning.
I’ve been using Basepoint(previously changepoint)for about 2 years for medication management. While under the care of Aimee Hughes, I never had any problems getting refills. In the past three months, I’ve had late refills, unanswered calls and emails, and nothing but headaches when trying to get my medication refilled. While I have nothing negative to say about the providers, I find that when it comes to timely prescription refills, this place is a mess. The carelessness and disregard for ensuring that patients are taking medicine correctly(read: have it on time) and appropriately absolutely astounds me. Spare yourself the headache and just go somewhere else for medication management.
I have left multiple messages regarding a billing issue and no one has returned a phone call much less helped solve the problem of being over charged. The staff was very helpful on the front end of getting us signed up, but now I cannot reach anyone by phone. Very unprofessional.
The providers are great, unfortunately the support staff is not so great. They’re horrible at returning voicemails even when they’re medication related or to schedule appointments. IF they call back it’s weeks later. If you’re a person who needs to be see more regularly I wouldn’t recommend this place because they aren’t on top of the medication refills.

2022-02-22This academy is amazing they truly care about the well-being and mental health of all the patients that come here. This is such an innovative way to treat and interact with patients. You will not find a better staff more dedicated elsewhere. They are so friendly and take the time to get to know your situation and truly make you a priority. I would recommend Basepoint to anyone struggling with mental health issues.

2022-03-01AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.This facility is an absolute sham. Took our money after we enrolled our son and then two days later they indicated that our son is as not a good candidate for the program and kept our money. We have been fighting ever since to get even a partial refund. It has been several months now and we have gotten nothing back. In the interim our regular pediatrician has gotten us in touch with a reputable program to help him. This organization operates on lies for profit. If you don’t trust my review do yourself a favor and do not pay ahead or upfront. They only want your money not what’s best for your family. By paying in a rears you may save yourselves thousands of dollars and avoid a legal battle.

2022-06-16Ill give my honest opinion. The program is not too good, I feel my treatment was very unstable. I did not get all I should have, such as the weekly nurse visits, the weekly individual session and treatment plan review, and the proper amount of family sessions. I visited the nurse maybe twice (I was at BPA for 7 weeks), and my review and individual session were combined into about a 30 minute session. I often did not get support when I asked for it. The kids here though, they are super nice. Very cool, very accepting, and are pretty open-minded. I loved the people here. The therapists were pretty cool too. But, the program could be improved. I feel like there was also a lot of wasted time in the day. So in short, the program could be improved from a past clients perspective, but the kids were cool. Also, I feel like a lot of people got unnecessarily sent to inpatient. Even if you are following your safety plan, if you report you have intent to commit, they will send you to inpatient. Or in my case, they sent me to get a psych eval and didnt let me back into the program until I got one.

2022-02-23I appreciate Crystal, Dr. Dobbins, and the TMS team. I have worked with other facilities and if they all had people as dedicated as them, patients would get much better care. They exhibit compassion, dedication, and excellent attention to detail that results in a highly needed positive impact in the patients suffering from Severe Depression in Forney and surrounding areas. If I had a family member suffering from Depression, I would recommend BasePoint

2022-05-02Our daughter has pseudo seizures related to her functional neurological disorder and this place said “ we can handle it. We handle all kinds of medical issues”. After only a couple of days they said they can’t handle it. And they called 911 each time she had them. Plus our daughter has a eating disorder and come to find out she was skipping her meals and school work when she was there. We were never told any of this was going on the only way I found out was when I went to pick up her stuff and found her lunch bag still full and school work not even started. This place may be decent for people who just have anxiety or depression but other than that it’s a hard pass!!!!! There are some nice people there but you definitely get the impression that they will say anything to get you in and start collecting you money.

2022-07-08EDITED AFTER BP REPLIED 7-8-22.My review is regarding my adolescent son as stated at the very bottom of my review. There never was any therapy for my son. This is just another example of your incompetence.one of the worst experiences a mental health facility can do is treat you like everyone else.miscommunications from their staff every time even before they became basepoint. changepoint was just as bad. it was a convenient location for me but honestly, front desk staff were incompetent and the therapists are just checking the boxs they are required to. there never was any therapy for my son.

2022-01-19It can be challenging to find compassion in any service industry this day in age. The staff of BasePoint Academy exhibit genuine care about restoring the mental health of youth. One of the most important steps in helping your child, is to find practitioners who care. This is a great step.

2022-01-20The excellent care our family received here will be a lasting gift! We needed personal attention and specific therapy methods that they met in multiple ways. The professional staff, from the doctors to the therapists to the techs (and all others), knew exactly how to help us through an important transition in life. I’ll always be grateful for devoted perspective and unparalleled expertise.
