This is hands-down the best Italian place in Bastrop, but 4-stars because it’s little pricey.I had a shrimp and scallop special which was a little heavier than I had anticipated because of the amount of sauce on the dish. That came with potato soup which was a perfect starter to dip with the free bread they offer when they greet you.My girlfriend had the Caesar salad with chicken breast. I even asked “How do restaurants make chicken so good!”.The two kids had pasta and they had zero complaints… they’re normally picky eaters. They were really impressed with the steam coming off the noodles when the food was delivered to the table.Definitely coming back here to try something new, like their pizzas. Can they dethrone neighbors??
Ive been here twice and I cant say enough about how much I love this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere and the service are exceptional. They carry on the Bastrop feel of treating people like family. I hope you realize how wonderful you are and continue to be this awesome.
We have been here a few times and the food is normally great. My wife and I went to the restaurant tonite and well I felt deeply disreapected. for starters the waitress we had a very strong accent and I am deaf to a point that I have to read lips she seemed to be mad when I asked for her to repeat the specials to us.She then proceeded to ignore my and I after the fact...
I used to really enjoy Bassano over in Tahitian and assumed I would enjoy after they moved closer into town, Not so much. The food was extremely bland, appetizer, meat, and pasta. I ordered the Crispy shrimp appetizer, and shrimp and chicken alfredo with salad. Of course after adding salt, pepper, and butter the meal comes alive beautifully. My friend ordered the eggplant parmesan and said it was not the best shes had in Bastrop. She explained that it was missing the coating you would normally get on a chicken or eggplant parmesan. This came out more like an eggplant lasagna and was very watery, killing more flavor. My last tidbit is an encouragement to the restaurant to order bigger straws for these nice big cups! I really dislike fishing my straw out of my cup each time I want a sip. Overall Bassano is a very nice restaurant, the atmosphere is very relaxing, clean and peaceful. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, and it was nice having butter, salt and pepper already at the table.
When I arrived the host did not greet us. My sister and I waited to be seated but none of the hosts payed any attention to us. I had to walk up to them and ask them how much longer would we have to wait and she said 10 minutes. I noticed that 3 other groups of guests were seated before us even though we had arrived before them. One of them even told the host that my sister and I had arrived before him and the host still did nothing about it. I had to go up to the host 3 times. The wait was almost 40 minutes and the food was okay I guess -_-
Pizza took forever to come out. Our salads tasted funny and our waiter barely checked on us. When you order cheese bread don’t expect marinara discus without paying for it. Flys are flirting around everywhere will definitely not be back on our trip, rather eat at bucees anytime.
Their new location, location, location was a smart move. My boss picked up a pizza for us a few weeks ago. It was the first time Id had their food. It was on point, fresh, tasty, obviously scratch made. Well seasoned sauce, delicious mozzarella, perfect pepperoni. I ordered a pizza for my lady and I tonight along with some wine to-go ( a huge plus). Very nice food. Good service.
I ordered fettuccine carbonara. No I did not take a picture.I didnt receive fettuccine noodles. The wide noodles I received was swimming in alfredo sauce that tasted like mushrooms and ham.Instead of a nice diced ham I received a wide sliced lunch meat ham as if the ham was the hero. The house salad tasted if so it was soaked in water before it hit my dish. Nothing at all like I expected.I didnt have exceptionally high expectations but was disappointed. I definitely wont hurry back. My grandson appeared to like his spaghetti with tomato sauce, but he also likes Progesso.Receives three stars for the excellent server and open atmosphere.
This place is a THE place to go. I drive 40 minutes, on a good day, to get to this place! Wait staff are wonderful and hospitable. Now the food... ANY & EVERY dish Ive ordered is fantastic. Stay off with the garlic dip and with the bread they serve with it is SO yummy! My favorite is the Shrimp FraDiablo; some zesty-zing, along with a great garlic & clam sauce! Others greats are the chicken Alfredo. Theres a Pasta combo plate with, lasagna manicotti, tortellini covered with mozzarella cheese(is a LOT)! Ive tried strawberry & plain cheesecake and the tiramisu. Drinks were refilled without needing to flag someone. Been here 8 or 9 times and its worth going EVERY TIME. Take yourself, take the family... they really like it!

This place is way better at the new location in Colorado CrossingThe tilapia genovese was amazing, generous portion and extremely tasty. Also had a great slice of tiramasu. The pasta is very good tooService is greatA bit high priced for Bastrop but the food is very good. They do get very busy and that will make things slow sometimes but the staff are very nice and do a good job anyways.
We love this place, first time eating here from ft worth visiting son for his birthday , waitress very courteous and well attended , portion of food is big , presentation of plate and full of flavor gave me big smile also complimentary of dessert was offered to my son ! We will come back again! Highly recommend anyone who loves to eat come here . great team work and very professional. Thank you for Excellent Service!🍴🍴🍰🍷🍺
Excellent service, extensive menu, DELICIOUS food, great atmosphere, unbelievable portions! I love this AWESOME restaurant!!!!!♥️ IMPRESSIVE CONSISTENCY in the QUALITY of the food !!!! If you love ITALIAN FOOD; THIS IS THE BEST PLACE !!!! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL MEAL!!!!
Off the highway hidden gem! When you walk in you are greeted by friendly Italian staff and can smell the delicious food cooking in the kitchen only steps away from the inviting open dining area. The bread they serve before your meal is warm and soft with a little tan on it and I couldve filled up on just that. Between my family of 5 we ordered roasted potato soup, spaghetti with red sauce, a 14 Bassano special pizza, a personal cheese and a personal pepperoni and sausage pizza. All of the pizzas were crispy and done just right. Im talking one of, if not the best, pizzas we have had. The prices were very good also and better than we have back home. We will be going back!
My bff & I just went here for our Galentine dinner and it was absolutely delicious!! Better than Olive Garden. Especially the bread.. take my advice ...order the garlic & olive oil to go with the bread . . Its awesome. I had the Tortalinni Michaelangelo with grilled chicken and it was so good and the portion was huge! There is a review talking about filling up on the bread and its true lol be prepared to take home your entree bc the salad and bread will fill you up way before your dinner comes out lol I highly recommend this place. 10 stars 🌟 🤩 ✨️
Ambiance was lovely, the building itself very nice. They forgot the place setting for one, added an extra single glass of wine to the order, brought the four year olds food last and the wait staff was just sub par in general.Food flavor was good, but the pasta was completely covered in sauce. Drowning in it.Oh and you cant flush toilet paper.
Nice cozy place to sit and relax after a round of golf. Big size portions for the prices, especially for a lunch menu (Meat Stromboli in pictures). I couldnt even finish half of my Stromboli. Garlic knots breads are okay, no flavor besides yeast, salad is subpar, watery lettuce with a few shreds of carrots, croutons and one whole tomato and cucumber slice. The cakes are to die for! Do not leave without getting one, it will made up for the long wait for the to go boxes, which I had to eventually get up and go to the front to ask for myself after almost 10 minutes of waiting. We will be back with the kids to try the pizza! Hubs had the chicken Alfredo, which he gets at every Italian place, he said it wasnt the best but it was good. Loads of sauce which was great to dip the bread into.
This place is REALLY GOOD!!! They bring delicious bread to you while you wait for your order... YUM... We ordered Fried Calamari, Fried Shrimp, Cheese Sticks, Potato Soup, Pizza & Strawberry Cheesecake and let me tell you everything was Super Delicious and The Service is Awesome, Friendly & On top of their tables. Totally Recommend!
Had to wait approximately 20 minutes before service after being seated. Wifes dinner was not cooked right. She explained this to the owner and his only remark that is how we fix, and if you dont like it we still have to pay for it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Have eaten here twice now and ordered a pizza for at home. The marsala was a bit too salty as was the pizza. The spaghetti and meatballs were good. My wife enjoyed the eggplant parm. Well be back. The prices are fair and the environment is pleasant. Everyone has been friendly and eager to pléase.
Excruciatingly slow service (we waited 20-25 minutes to get our drinks ordered, approx. another 15-20 for appetizers ordered, and so on), less than appetizing versions of uninspired classic Italian fare -- and to top it off, I got mild food poisoning from it. This is a knock-off Italian restaurant at best. I ordered the chicken cacciatore and got spaghetti with a lot of tomato sauce and some chicken chunks; my boyfriend ordered an entree salad, received the wrong salad, and the lettuce was dripping wet with water. My other two friends ordered fettuccini alfredo, both of which looked like a white noodle soup. If you want overly sauced, overly pasta-d plates that were warmed in a microwave before getting served, then this is your spot. Two stars for cleanliness and decent garlic bread.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants!Trying to eat healthy, I order the Greek salad with grilled chicken on top.The Nicks dressing is Olive oil with (lots of) bits of chopped garlic. Probably not something you would eat and then go calling on customers.Their fresh baked bread is served with the meal.
The food here was fantastic! The service was fast and friendly and the cheesecake is to die for! They made my pizza wrong to start with but corrected it right away and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for everyone!! The only thing I did not like was the music playing loudly overhead!
Got a large pizza to go. Were from the northeast part of this country and really like Home Slice pizza, think its closest to what we grew up eating and loving. Must say though, Bassanos pizza, which is way closer for us, is very good! Crust is not too thick, great taste and crunch!
Don’t order the chicken parmigiana- otherwise, be prepared to ask how long they nuked the McDonald’s chicken patty in the microwave before adding it to the bed of pasta. To be fair, our server was great, and the bread was really good- just disappointing to be served fake chicken for $13…
Excellent food & excellent service. I was very impressed. Hand made bread, homemade sauce etc. Great Italian & Spanish music playing to help with the atmosphere of the room. With half the countrys population living on Marlboro reds, Nattys, and Top Ramen, its nice to know a restaurant of this caliber is available for those few of us who appreciate & prioritize truly good food.
So my husband and I went here for date night I really wanted to try the food. We both ordered the chicken and shrimp alfredo and I kid you not they did not add any flavor to it at all it tasted just like the frozen alfredo meals at the store or hospital food. Also the potato soup had no potatoes in it and it was very strongly flavored with red pepper. Tasted like red pepper soup. After our first bite we asked for to go boxes. My grandmother was italian so I know italian food and this place does not. Great place if you like flavorless food. Completely disappointing.
Wow....What happened to Basanos?? My husband had spaghetti and he said it was good but it looked light on sauce to me. I gave the 3 stars for his food. The rolls are not the same as they were at the old place...too doughy or not enough seasoned butter. My entree was just terrible. The chicken was the frozen shaped type with the fake char marks. The grilled veggies were prepackaged frozen veg complete with that sauce taste that you get with “sauced” frozen veggies. The lemon wine sauce tasted like mushroom soup thinned down with chicken stock and added lemon.Absolutely not worth the $50 it cost for frozen food.
Best pizza and fettuccine carbonara around, every single time. Nicks salad is one of the best salads anywhere, especially when you add salami. Wonderful and accommodating owners and very pleasant wait staff. Bassanos is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, not just in Bastrop.
Atmosphere was darling . Waitress was ok . Food was horrible I am full blooded Italian . Born and raised in Chicago neighbor to New York in which they claim that the food is New York style . It most certainly is not . The bread was excellent. The Baked ziti was disgusting 🤮. The sauce was a pukey pinkish sauce . The shrimp were so loaded down with salt 🧂 it could give someone a heart attack. I substituted items on my pizza and was charged for the ingredients anyways . I returned my order and was still charged and charged double for the shrimp. When it was brought to the attention of the owner Nick and his protégée I was told no crime was committed . I felt as if I was a criminal . The owners are not Italian they are Albanian . They altered my ticket and still were charging me for the baked Ziti that I did not eat . They claimed that the shrimp was probably salty . I suppose to hide the freshness . In other wards they weren’t fresh.and was told there’s nothing wrong with the baked ziti . In who’s opinion Nicks ? I am a customer and if I’m not satisfied with an entree and don’t want anything else then no questions asked the entree should be deleted from my bill . Apologies should be in order but nooo not here these two Men ganged up on me like lucifers army of Demons . Ready to rip me to shreds. Completely shameful . I would not recommend this place to anyone . I’m certain that people from around here think this establishment is top notch seeing as it’s the only place that serves Supposed Italian food for miles and miles and miles and miles around . On the contrary they’ve been misled and deceived into thinking that this is authentic or even good . Then the abuse I endured is completely unacceptable. I will never spend a penny there again even if I were starving to death and they were the only place left open anywhere . Shameful. Thievery abuse uncalled for . Take heed . Beware and no one wore a mask none of the employees or owner Nick . As if the pandemic is over . Well it’s not . I am so besides myself at the way I was treated . I know who they serve and it’s not God . You’ve been warned . Furthermore I worked in the restaurant business since I was 15 years old waitresses hosted bartended cashiered bussed tables worked in the front of the house back of the house managed and my family owned a restaurant. I’ve never ever heard of anyone saying to a customer that there is nothing wrong with their food that they returned and then expected them to pay for that entree , really .???!!! In my opinion they must be part of the Illuminati. They’re eyes were blackened with pure evil . Eyes are the windows to the soul . . I was never trying to get anything for free nor not pay for something I ate . I didn’t eat it . There’s no excuse for their behavior. . The proof is in they’re actions and words and mannerisms. Demonic
The food was OK, although one of my party had burned chicken on his meal. But the servers are overworked and they are understaffed right now, which would be OK if they would own it, but the servers nor the managers/owner would admit or apologize. Our party of 8 had a 80 minute wait on our entrees, not to mention it was easily 20 minutes in between visits from our server for drinks, refills, etc.
Early dinner for husband and myself. Husband ordered spaghetti with clams and butter sauce. Large portion. Lots of clams. Very light garlic. No complaints. I ordered fettuccine carbonara. Not like any carbonara I have ever had. It was a very saucy alfredo with pieces of ham and mushrooms. Tasted ok but was not what I expected or wanted. Came with mixed salad...assorted lettuce with 1 slice of tomato and cucumber and a generous sprinkle of croutons. Basket of soft garlic bread (twists) great.
This is the best Italian food Ive had in Texas. The restaurant was impeccably clean, including the bathroom! The service was prompt. The atmosphere was quiet and lovely. I had the veggie stromboli with sauce and cannoli. Both were beautifully prepared and full of flavor!! I absolutely recomend eating here❣👍
Food was good, with large portions and very reasonable price. We had the cannoloni and chicken piccata. Nice cold salad and hot broccoli soup to start off, along with fresh hot bread. We had enough left for another couple of meals. Service was excellent. They have a big wall of wine but apparently dont serve it as we ask for a wine list but was told they didnt have one. A glass of red would sure have been good with that cannoloni. Looking forward to our next visit to try the lasagna.
I went here with a friend for lunch at 12:10 on a Thursday, and we both ordered the mushroom garlic linguini, which is on the lunch menu. The waitress was very friendly, however, when she brought our entrees out, the pasta was steaming like crazy and was boiling hot, but it was also dried out. I think they heated up the previous days food in the microwave. There was hardly any flavor of garlic, no fresh herbs, and it was swimming in canola oil. Ive eaten this same dish there on previous occasions and it was delicious. It was the reason why wed decided to dine there for lunch that day. So was surprised at the poor quality this day, though I didnt complain about it. After hardly touching my food, the waitress delivered the bill and I paid it without looking at it. When she brought it back for me to fill out the tip portion is when I noticed that I hadnt been charged the lunch menu price of $8.95, Id been charged $11.95. I figured it was probably just a mistake, and that they would fix it no problem. I go to the register to talk to my waitress about it, and the manager comes right away. I explained what happened. He said that if I was charged extra it was because Id received a dinner portion, and then asked me if it looked as if Id received extra food. I said that I dont know the difference in their portion sizes, but since we came during lunch on a weekday and ordered something on the lunch menu, that it should be the lower price. Then he said it was up to me to specify to the waitress whether or not I want a lunch or dinner portion when I order. I reiterated to him that it seems obvious that we want lunch under the circumstances, and not dinner. and that our waitress shouldve asked. He then started blaming the waitress, saying shes new, and then said that it wasnt his fault. I said I didnt care whos fault it was and wasnt looking to assign blame, but that Id like to get the price difference back. He AGAIN said that I shouldve specified whether it was a dinner portion or not, and to make sure I specify in the future. At this point I was getting exasperated. I dont know if it was the look on my face, but then he pivoted, and asked me if he gave me $5, would I be happy. Honestly, I wouldve liked a full refund simply because of the principle behind it, but I just wanted to leave, so I agreed. I will never eat here again.
Went to the new location for the first time. My wife and I both tried the lasagna plate. We agreed it was the best tasting lasagna we have ever had. It was so delicious I wanted to order ann extra to eat later. Its the same owners from the previous location and if they changed cooks there was no drop-off in quality but possibly an improvement from already delicious. We will definitely be going back, especially since the prices are extremely reasonable.
This place is great. The quality of the food and the staff are always on point but after coming here a few times I realized that the food is very traditional and uses a lot of garlic. Now for some people this isnt an issue but I find it a little overwhelming. So what I typically tend to do is order the soup of the day or any soup off the menu and chow down on bread and order a pizza. You can get an extra large pizza at a great price and by the time I fill up on soup and bread I have one piece of pizza and take the rest home. Overall the food is excellent and I highly recommend stopping here.
This is a great place!! I was amazed at the quality of the food and the service was great. The restaurant environment was nice, it was quiet enough to hold a conversation. The pasta was the perfect texture and sauces were simply fantastic! The alfredo sauce was rich and creamy and the marinara sauce was to-die-for! The garlic knots the serve are really nice as well. And the best part... large portions and small prices.
I went there on Friday and was sat in a nice area next to fireplace, our waitress took about 15 minutes to take our drink and dinner order, we sat waiting for our drinks for 25 minutes, our waitress informed us she was unable to bring us our alcohol beverages due to being underage. Why would you hire someone who is unable to serve alcohol beverages? After waiting 45 minutes we still have not gotten our soup and salads, or our dinner, after sitting and watching everyone around us eat, I asked to speak to the manager, he refused to talk to me , the girl up front asked for my number so he could call me... have not heard from him yet!!! We finally just left hungry as we never got anything to eat. This is a restaurant that in reality does not care about its customers... will never go back!!!!!
I ordered a pizza today for my nephew’s 8th birthday. I live in Louisiana and found this restaurant on google. It was delivered on time and the reports from my family are that it was AMAZING!!Also, I asked in the comment section if they could write happy birthday on the box. It was so sweet! They wrote it in different colors all around the end of the box! He was so excited to receive his very own cheese pizza for his birthday!! Thank you so much!!
This was an excellent experience all around. The waiter was a little distracted but the food was excellent. From the bread, which is delicious and way more than I expected, took a delicious entrees I was pleased from end-to-end. We enjoyed the pizza, salad, and sirloin Marsala. Will definitely go back.
One of our favorite places. I love the buttery creaminess with the mild sausage of the cannelloni Alfredo. Food is very consistent. Service can be a bit hit and miss with a couple of excellent servers and a couple of barely adequate servers and weve had some really BAD service. We always hope for one of the servers that are as good as the food!
The food is fantastic. Ive never had anything here that wasnt absolutely amazing. The prices are also very reasonable. But the restaurant service is inconsistent. A couple of the waiters are great—friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful—but at least one is downright rude. We order for pickup a lot, and often the people on the phone taking the order arent very knowledgeable or helpful. Example: asking about the daily special, and they dont know (its posted on a board that they could walk around and see). Many times theyve gotten the order wrong, so I now always check it thoroughly before I leave. Its convenient, reasonably priced, and delicious, though, so well continue to be customers.
Like many other say service is spotty. The garlic rolls others rave about? Ate part of one but too dense and it was not easy to swallow. The prices are cheap but we will not be going back. Very strange atmosphere as to what this place was in a past life. If cleanliness is a concern the I advise you to walk into the restroom off to the right before you hit the hostess station.
First visit, great atmosphere for a family, senior or dinner with friends, excellent food presented very nicely on the plate, impressive menu, and the prices are also family and senior friendly. Outstanding service too! Only very minor issue are the narrow driveways from the road to the parking lot, which did not distract from the enjoyable experience on the inside.
This place is AWESOME! I have never given a review like this, this is easily the best Italian restaurant Ive ever been to. The service was great, the food was quick to thr table, hot out of the oven and delicious. The prices were extremely affordable and the overall trip was outstanding. I highly recommend this place.
For starters all I can say is what are you waiting for!? Hands down the best combination of flavors. From the moment I had my strawberry lemonade I knew I was in for a treat. Their cheese sticks are very tasty and that soup with the turkey was just sooo righteous. I’ve never had anything like it. They know what there doing I’m surprised we were the only table there!! This place is definitely one of my top go to restaurants.Take a chance you won’t be disappointed.
Food was good. Had the salmon special. My understanding is that the owners have a new interest, have gone through new management (maybe just to get new customers). My suggestion, half the portions so to increase your food profit. A family of five could have eaten my meal. The bread is wonderful. Atmosphere, good. Service was ok....we were in the corner.
Food was amazing. This is a hidden gem. We took a gamble and popped in after we googled for an Olive Garden but there wasn’t one near. We love it and we will be back. Raymond was our waiter and he was THE BEST!! Felt like we had known him for years. All the warm and fuzzies!!!!!!!
First time back here since they switched locations. My server was terrible. Took about 10mins to get greeted. I ordered sweet tea and And gave me unsweetened. After i asked for a sweet tea instead I think he went to the back and put sugar in it and mixed my glasses up himself instead of giving me pre-made sweet tea or just simply telling me that they didn’t have sweet tea. Took him another 15 minutes to bring my glass back to me with all the ice melted. It was a little busy on a Thursday evening.
Didnt want what they served me. I asked to switch it they told me that they couldnt switch food even if we didnt want it I found that really weird finally the cook came out he said they could switch it and then come to find out they still charge me for the plate that I didnt want just letting you know everybody out there be careful because they serve you something and you dont want it you still have to pay for it but they will replace it will never go back again
Been here numerous times, will be back numerous more. Good food cooked just right, waitstaff who are kind and helpful, a homely, comfortable atmosphere that still asks you politely to wear your best threads. And when you tip in $2 bills, you make unexpected new friends.
Always great food and a good family restaurant. Full menu, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. As a vegan, sometimes I have to settle for French fries or side dishes when the whole family goes out to eat at traditional restaurants. Not here! I got a delicious ziti and grilled vegetables in a rich pasta sauce. Also an endless supply of hot fresh baked rolls!
I loved the spaghetti mushroom: the sauce was tasty and not overpowering, my sons fetuccine Alfredo was just as delicious, and they came with a generous helping of a tossed salad and wonderful bread. All that, and very reasonable prices for generous portions. Hard to beat!
This Is definitely authentic Italian cuisine in a quaint town such as Bastrop. Staff is friendly and patient. Very reasonable prices and their soups are really good especially with the bread they serve while waiting on your main course. If you crave real Italian food, then this is your place.
Great food, prices are good, and a large variety on menu. Service a little slow and if ordering to go make sure you have everything. First time forgot my wifes soup then 2nd time I even asked the lady if soup was in bag and she said yes it was the entire order. I looked and of course no soup or garlic bread.I give it 4/5 due to food and price.
Horrible all the way around. Beginning with the hostess. After we were seated I saw her pass a gentleman and his companion at minimum 3 times before she stopped to greet them. It was at least 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order after we were seated and at least another 10 minutes before we received them. And for the amount of waitresses I saw to the number of tables it was not busy. At one point I noticed that the dishwasher came out from the kitchen with silverware and bread plates, she had the clutched against her clearly soiled apron. I was appalled that this would happen at any time let alone im front of patrons. While the food does come out in a timely manner it is immediately clear as to why. It was clear as day that everything was at one point in a can or frozen. The calamari was tough and chewy and as it sat it got harder and tougher. While a applaud them for their wide assortment of choices perhaps it is better to focus delicious meals versus so much variety. We will not be back.
I’ve eaten there twice and found the food mediocre, at best. The sauces are heavy and taste like they came from a can. The personal margherita pizza was drowning in yellow cheese and the tomato sauce or paste did not taste fresh. The food was salty. It all pretty much tasted like 1950s America’s idea of Italian food rather than the authentic food of Italy.
I just ordered spaghetti and meatballsI’ve eaten at many Italian restaurants and this place needs instructions on making spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce is cold and sticky what you’d expect from a jar or can. The meatballs were still pink from not cooked thoroughly through. When I called , I spoke to the cook where I explained the uncooked food, he sarcastically told me “ what do you want me to do cook you another meatball “ I inferred if the spaghetti was made fresh his reply was to hang up on me.
Food tastes great but they are very stingy when it comes to anything that has shrimp. Got the shrimp caprese and it came with only three shrimp and they still had the tails on them. If I hadnt noticed I probably would have severely cut the inside of my mouth. The calamari though is some of the best Ive ever had
My son and I went to try this restaurant the other day because I have wanted to try it for awhile now. Unfortunately, we didnt get to try the food nor were we ever seated. The restaurant was not full and it was 3pm so hot the lunch or dinner rush. I have waited tables in the past, so I try to be patient and understanding but we stood at the hostess station for 15 minutes as staff walked by over and over. NONE of them acknowledged us standing there, a woman came in behind us to get a to go order and they looked right past us and started to help her. Then a couple tables got up to checkout and two of the ladies stood there checking out the finished tables while still ignoring us. We left because we were hungry and figured if it had been 15 minutes and we havent been seated or even acknowledged, how long would it be before we got food!? We may try to come again. I LOVE ITALIAN FOOD, this was very disappointing....
I always enjoy eating here! The staff is awesome and the food is spectacular! The place has a great feel to it and Ill always go out of my way to share a meal with family at Bassanos. If you havent tried the pizza, its totally awesome! Never greasy like some of the other pizza places around. The chicken calabrese is to die for! My wife loves the Michelangelo tortellini. The staff are always pleasant and attentive, especially with the free bread rolls.
Thee ONLY place to eat in Bastrop!!Delicious food and wines. Staff is friendly. Id like to see them put a fountain in the back courtyard and make that area nicer ;)Great prices most definitely! Youll happily take leftovers with you. Fun stores within that youll also want to investigate.
Could have been worse, but also couldve been much better. We had a room reservation for a party and arrived to a disheveled and dirty room. It is nice to have the option for large parties, but organization and planning was lacking. Liked the food, but it too was not what we had come to expect from here. We would give it another try- but expect more preparation on the restaurants side.
From the first time I walked in there and tasted REAL NY STYLE pizza, I was hooked. The food is a nice change from the same old stuff in Bastrop.. The owners and staff are just the nicest people... always accommodating special requests! Prices are very inexpensive... Fresh garlic rolls.. ADDICTIVE!
Basanos is actually very very wonderful food theyre often on the weekend over slammed but they still really keep satisfying their customers and that is great and please know the location is now changed not from Tahitian drive but over on 105, by the worthless Texas workforce solutions, be blessed.
MOST of the food was good. We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they werent cookee all the way through and the cheese wasnt even melted. It took about thirty minutes to receive our food and Service wasnt the best, we waited 30+ mins after we got done eating for someone to check on us and give us the bill and we were the only ones in the restaurant at that point. When we asked if the mozzarella sticks could be taken off she said “no because you already ate more than half” there were only five sticks and we had eaten three, trying to figure out if they all had not been cooked through. Tasted like frozen mozzarella sticks bought from walmart. They told us “next time you come if they arent good, just send them back” no duh sherlock 🤦🏻♀️ We wont be coming back, thats for sure. If not because of the cheese sticks then because of the service. Gordan Ramsey would he very disappointed lmao.
All these good reviews. Are you people crazy? Hands down some of the worst italian Ive ever eaten. Not disgusting so as to be inedible, but just a complete disrespect of any Italian cuisine. Marinara was watery as all get out, frozen appetizer cheese sticks, and my chicken parm was drowned in a glob of gross cheese. The place is so nice looking, its a shame the food is sub par. Just seems like they dont care. Waitress was nice but very forgetful. Definitely wont be wasting $60 on a family meal here again.
Food was excellent my favorite place in the Bastrop area. plenty of food with the meal, the only problem is they can do away with Italian opera singer as background music, although I like Italian music, the opera was little annoying while youre try to have a conversation
Can’t remember all the items that go with the order?!! utensils don’t come with your order. You’re better off checking your stuff before you leave. This is the second time this happens. Management needs to make changes to their staff and actually make sure to go over the stuff in front of the customers.
Waited for about an hour for our food to be prepared. Waitress never came around to check on us, only to bring food then waited again for a while for her to bring the check. If you want a place to waste your time. This is it. We are not the only ones that had this problem. Almost everyone else did
Bassanos is a great Italian restaurant. They serve hot fresh bread while you wait and we always order garlic oil to go with it which is delicious! The food is really good and the portions are very generous. Servers are always very nice. The owners/cooks are Italian so I would say its pretty homemade Italian which I love! Their tiramisu is amazing! We keep going back and is one of my familys favorite. I absolutely recommend it!
If you dont fill up on the hot home made Bread that continuously comes out, you should not miss out on the Italian sausage and be sure to dip your bread in that sauce that has a little bite from the sausage . When I received my main entree of Chicken Parmesan you know its game over. It so large you know you will need a to go box. Make sure you save room for the Italian cream cake. It is moist and a smooth with a cream cheese frosting that is fantastic..Being a American Italian brought up in New York, and having Italian food from east coast to west coast, north to south. my whole life. I would of never thought it would of been such a good experience being off the beaten path.
My husband and i visited this place for the first time on Valentines day, we were extremely impressed with customer service and hospitality. The food was absolutely amazing, the prices were MORE then reasonable and the portions of food was definitely a plus. Im sure to go again at least once a week.
We arrived at the restaurant to be greeted by the hostess, in her faded skinny jeans and tight fitting flannel shirt. I dont where that would be considered appropriate attire for the first person you meet in a restaurant other than a dive bar.She had us wait for over 30 minutes while some other diners finished (there were empty tables down the middle of the restaurant that she could have sat us at immediately). Then she bussed the tables that had been sitting empty and finally the table that the other group was sitting. While we were waiting for drinks, silverware, etc. another waiter was bussing tables but there were no guests, other than us,My friends and I ordered the special, Fried Ravioli with chicken breast. The ravioli wasnt fried, the chicken was cut in odd shaped pieces that were obviously not fresh. Unacceptable. I ordered the soup, cream of mushroom, that was laden thick blobs of uncooked flour. Unacceptable. Really the high point of the meal was the rolls. I ordered garlic oil and by the time they finally served the oil, all the rolls were gone. I had to request that rolls be delivered to the table so we could enjoy the oil. That Bassanos has gone down in foods and standards, is obvious. Next time we go out we will definitely not be choosing Bassanos.
5 stars is not enough. Huge portions, very fair pricing, the best place in Bastrop and possibly the best Italian restaurant in central Texas. Every entree Ive tried was delicious and prepared by a trained culinary staff. Go early to avoid the wait, but plan on enjoying every single bite. This has become the only restaurant I patronize in Bastrop. Yes, its that good.
Weve been wanting to try bassanos for a while now finally decided to go for it, glad we did. Food was super good I couldnt get enough of the salad it was so fresh Dressing was very good as well I got ranch.. I got the chicken parmasen plate i loved it. We will for sure be coming back our waitress was very sweet and made sure we were taken care of 😊
Where do I begin? We went here to eat for the first time today (Fathers Day.) We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children. When we arrived at 1:30pm, we were told that it would be a 20 minute wait. We sat and watched as 3 separate couples arrived and ushered to a table. When the 4th couple was about to be seated, I finally asked why they werent seating us and I was told it was because they only had 3 waitresses so they were waiting so they wouldnt be overwhelmed. That upset me because they had no problem seating other customers as they came in!! I threw enough of a fit that they finally seated us at 2:39. I asked to speak to a manager after overhearing the hostess telling her coworkers that I was being pissy. The manager who came over was just a kid who looked like a bus boy. I told him our experience and while he listened, nothing changed...we didnt get better service, thats for sure. Then, our food didnt come until after 3:30! I asked to speak to the owner but that wasnt possible because hes also the cook...his wife came out instead...holding a baby. She apologized and said they arent usually this busy. Yada. Yada. They ultimately offered us free desserts. I will say the food was really good but everything else about our Fathers Day meal here was HORRIBLE! I will NEVER eat here again!
Well, I had to update my first review (below). I had to delete one star. I wanted to try the pizza here at Bassanos. I ordered for pickup and asked for extra pepperoni on the side. I even paid $1.49 extra which I didnt mind. Got my pizzas. Even had a conversation about the charge for the extra pepperoni. Tipped the girl over 20%. Got home and you guessed it, no extra pepperoni. I called Bassanos for no other reason but to tell them they forgot it and to be more careful next time. No biggy. Its inconvenient but its not like Im never going again because they forgot my extra pepperoni. Just forewarning everyone to double check their takeout orders. The pizza is delicious BTW!(Previous Review)...I dont know why I love this place so much but I do. Their food is delicious. The servers are prompt and friendly. This isnt the absolute best Italian place Ive ever eaten but it is pretty darn close.

2022-01-16My husband is Italian so he is very choosey about his Italian food. After we were served the soup and bread he said we will be back. Our meals were delicious. I was only able to eat about half my dish so we had great left overs. I wish I had got the cream of potato soup, I ended up eating most of my husbands! My only complaint was the salad. It was ho hum, the salads at Olive Garden are more exciting.

2022-01-12Excellent Italian eatery with a super friendly staff and authentic Italian offerings that almost have to be made from scratch. Everything we tried was really good and they have a fairly large menu that should please most everyone.

2022-01-10My husband and I went there on a Saturday night. The waitress and her trainee were great .. happy, pleasant and energetic. The breadsticks were great. We both ordered mine was chicken alfredo with soup or salad... I said salad. My husband ordered lasagna with soup. Both dishes were awful ... they were microwaved to a scalding temperature. We returned all the food and the manager tried to charge us 12.00 dollars for a salad that was part of our meal .So we paid 20.00 for our beers and left 6.00 for the waitresses as a tip . I hope they got it .... The atmosphere was not inviting .. not Italian at all

2021-11-16We found this gem of an Italian restaurant and loved it!! The staff was polite and attentive. I had the baked ziti and it was delicious. It had so much flavor. Hubby had the chicken fettuccine alfredo. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the alfredo was delicious. One of our friends had the baked manicotti and she said it was absolutely delicious. Her hubby had spaghetti with meat sauce. He said it was bursting with flavor. All the portions were large so be hungry when you go. A must visit place if you are in Bastrop.

2022-06-27The food was great!!! I wish the salad didn’t have as much stock in it as it did. There was so much food I think I could make three meals out of my plate alone. Now I will say for the shrimp Alfredo I just wished my shrimp would have been completely peeled. But it was so good and the shrimp were huge that it was worth burning my fingers! My husband had the lobster ravioli and I’ve never seen ravioli that big before. You can definitely tell it’s all fresh. And the restaurant it’s self is very clean and cozy.

2022-05-08Authentic Italian restaurant. Polite and attentive staff. Popular eatery, so its usually busy; so wait times can get a bit long. Pizzas are New York Style and well made. Highly recommend the Chicken Marsala; it has an awesome wine sauce that is very smooth.

2021-04-20I enjoyed this Italian restaurant. It was definitely Italian & Spanish influenced because they had very pleasant Spanish music. The bread and butter were amazing. The Mushroom soup was amazing. The lasagna was alright. I make a better one. I wasn’t impressed with the taste or portion for the price. The Alfredo was pretty good. The salad dressing was not to my liking. The Chicken Florentino was yucky. It tasted like Chicken Bouillon. The chicken didn’t seem like it was cooked inside the sauce for long. Anyhow, overall, great experience! It is very clean inside. The restrooms are clean just not enough of them. The server was kind and social. The prices were fair. I would return again someday. I’m glad I tried it while I was in the area.

2022-06-09Our hosts at our bed and breakfast recommended eating here, and WOW, were they right! Awesome food, great service and a pleasant, clean environment. Staff were also knowledgeable about our gluten allergies. Would give more stars if I could!
