Just ….WOW…….. food was hot and fresh and tasted delicious.. Had to wait a little,,,,, but it is expected … in the middle of lent season… This food is well worth the wait…. Stay the way you are Bayseas love your food and service 5 stars!!

Gr8 smiles amid a very busy crowd for dine in, pick up called in and walk-ins. Food hot and fresh to order. Plenty food at a reasonable price, especially the days special 😋 (Trout and Catfish) with sides!
To store management: This was my first visit. The food appeared to have been freshly cooked, but Im sorry. I dont know if the problem is related to the store or the supplier but the fish was not fresh at all. And a LOT of work is needed on in-store traffick flow. Just a suggestion. Instead of waitresses having to run up behind/ weave between customers you may want to designate a pathway for waitresses with permanent for markings on the floor. Simple, but clearly visible, lines on the floor that would form an aisle coming to and from the kitchen would suffice. This would allow waitresses to reach customers more efficiently. This would also decrease the likelihood of customers feeling frustrated by the disorganized and chaotic flow of workers. My observation was that there didnt seem to be a space where I could stand where a worker would not run up behind me and ask to be let by even though the previous waitresses were able to get by me and back to the kitchen. Also your staff does not seem to know the menu as well as customers. This is not a good look for the store. At the end of the day there is to much inefficiency for me. However all the best to you and your staff.
The BEST crab legs after mine as well as reasonably priced. Also, when I order the fried fish theres always extra on my plate. LOVE IT 💘!!!!
June 2021- Great place and a must try!!!They have delicious southern fried fish and more. With a variety of seafood like Trout, Flounder, Drum, Catfish, shrimp and Oysters. Other dishes like Gumbo, fried Pork Chops, meatloaf, a long list of sides and desserts. The food is always served hot and smelling good. You call ahead for easy quick pickup, dine in or just pop up go to the counter and get a carry out.
Hey today i went to go n eat at Bayseas Restaurant with my family of 4. & it was so very fantastic an i loved it an i got to try their catfish, n shrimp, n fries, an i was like wow great food an better waitress an fast service an today it wasnt even that packed nor crowded up. & we had some tea n lemonade an my little neice with a frozen pop that came with her plate..
Dang it I didn’t take a pix and I should’ve taken one but the other reviewers have awesome pix already so please look at them and see how amazing the food looks. If only you could taste the delicious food through a pix you would see how wonderful the food is and tastes here. I’m a very picky person when it comes to fish but let me tell you this place is not a disappointment what so ever. Prices are reasonable for good food and portion wise. They are not stingy at all and it’s very filling. They cook their food with LOVE!! And it shows and tastes so darn good. My first time there as a take out. I called it in and the young lady taking my order was super friendly and I wasn’t rushed and said it would be ready in twenty minutes and it was on point. Fresh as can be. Then when I arrived they were so welcoming super respectful which you don’t get NO WHERE and the atmosphere was super comfortable. I’m from New Braunfels born n raised and just moved to Converse and never been to a more satisfying place to eat and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. It’s small yes but in my opinion it’s perfect. From the call in order to pick up To walking out the door was the best experience I’ve ever had. I will be back for sure!!!! Also they make corn bread and on their sign it says the best ever and they ain’t lying! I loved every bite of it!!!!! So please check them out you’ll really enjoy it all the way to end. New Braunfels had a bayseas back in the day and I I owe the owners and it was sad seeing them close the doors down because that place the best am I am so glad I found a new one to enjoy so thank you to the staff and the owners of having a remarkable establishment with some good home cooked food!!
Service was great. Very friendly waitstaff. I got the catfish plate lunch special and a tea. The tea was fresh made and the food was okay. The fish and shrimp didnt have much seasoning. Ill be back soon to try some other items.
First time customer review.The service is outstanding. A+ and Id give higher if I could. Very personable staff, even during the lenten Friday crush. We wanted for nothing. They handled the lenton chaos professionally. The food was outstanding. I saw on the menu 5 piece shrimp with fries and thought who only eats 5 shrimp?! and I ordered the 10 piece. Turns out I only eat 5 shrimp. Haha. Each were the size of my palm!
Very unprofessional place! I’m from Houston and heard about this place fromFriends back in San Antonio and wanted to try it out. I Tried to make a dine in order and got hung up on not 1 but 3 times!!! First time I asked a question and the lady on the phone hung up on me. I called back again stating that I had been hung up on and the same Lady hung up in my face. Called back a 3rd time asking for a manager and got hung up on again ! DONT GO TO THIS PLACE! Very disappointed to say the least!
The food was delicious much better than I thought it to taste The restaurant could use some better appeal inside the dining area, feels like the decor and extra chairs everywhere are a bit off putting.
Oh boy, this was an eye opener. We had just come in from Dallas going to mu cuñada home and we looked for a fish place, it being Friday. We tried Bushs chicken but they did not do fish. But we saw Bayseas and tried it. The day special was a big plate of 3 fish and 3 shrimps plus fries. It was good. Next time I want fish, I will surely go for a visit.
The service was good....staff was courteous and very pleasant...The food was different...Fried mushrooms were not nearly as good and the fried shrimp wasnt seasoned as well as in the past..the food was just different from in the past...
Its has the best fish shrimp special. But they went from $10.95 or 11.95 for the special to $14.95. Thats just to high. Sorry.
Found this place by chance between San Antonio and Houston near Randolph Air Force Base. Worth the stop if your near the food is amazing! Oysters were huge and juicy I would give 5 stars on that alone. The shrimp were the largest I have seen. Broiled or fried the food is just amazing.

I really love the food here its amazing however Im really disappointed and shocked with the service we received today my friend and I had order waters with are first waitress we waited 30 mins till a young Hispanic girl asked if we had been served yet we had told her we where waiting on are water and she quickly brought them to us, then are OG waitress came back we had told her we order online & that we would like to dine in I didnt get her name but she very rude to us we waited another 30 mins and the young Hispanic girl checked up on is we had told her about are food and she got it to us swiftly she did an amazing job for not being are waitress we watched her with other guest and she was amazing, I had asked her if she gets to keep her tip and she said no that she has to share with the other girl that had attended to us in the beginning makes no since cause she didnt help us at all, I spoke to the manager and asked as well but they said the same thing Im just really dumbfounded by this if a waitress works hard for there tips and does a a great job then they deserve to keep there tips that they make not split it with someone that slacks off are does not have good customer service, I will be posting my review on other review platforms as well.

Today was my family & Is first time here,& let me tell ya! Everything was so so good the catfish was amazing and the fried pickles my goodness! Not to mention ALL the girls here are so friendly & kind! Wow! Thats amazing! My family & I will most def be returning customers!
I’m extremely impressed with the service I received from this Bayseas.Not only is the food delicious; the employees are always friendly & determined to please their customers.However, the Manager/owner is exceptional! He’s definitely a gentleman true to his word.Over 5 months ago I had a problem with the smoked cabbage I ordered. I called & complained. He was patient & concerned with my problem. He took time to listen, apologized, & promised a free tray of smoked cabbage. This incident occurred in May. When I decided to order more cabbage, I just “knew” he forgot & wouldn’t honor his word.I was so wrong! He not only honored his word, but provided a sampler to see if the cabbage was to my liking...of course it was delicious. This is “Service At Its Best”!Thank you so much for being such a caring business owner 😊

Hands down, the best Fish in the city!! You get a lot for the amount you pay. My lunch plate can feed two people. I love the down home feel. I love the atmosphere. The staff are always so welcoming. The food is consistently delicious. I highly recommend coming here. You won’t be disappointed!!

The food was great, the service was great, and the 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade was amazing(as it should have been). The ONLY thing that could have been better was the seating arrangements. I recommend this location to anyone who loves good seafood and swamp water😋
This was my platter it had 10 catfish 10 shrimp 2 things of fries and I had a 5 piece chicken with fries and onion rings all for under $40.00 dollars...I had enough to take home and eat later and still was full 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤

I’m in town for one night because I’m a truck driver. I picked up some groceries before I got dropped off by my Uber and was carrying tons of bags! Bayseas was kind enough to offer me a box to hold my groceries and food in because one of my bags ripped! I’m super appreciative for their thoughtfulness ! I also ordered the pork chops and wanted them crispy they actually brought my chops out to make sure they were crispy to my standard which is rare and I’m grateful for that! The food here was great and I have to say San Antonio and this establishments is why i love the south! Thanks again for the hospitality bayseas!

We went to the Converse location and The food was good, fish and shrimp were fried perfectly and the gumbo was tasty .The service gave the impression that I was a bother and not a wanted customer. Even at the check out I was snaped at to just be patient while the girls behind the counter were talking. Might be a good takeout place but doubt Ill ever dine in again.

First, let me start off by saying, our food was amazing! We ordered two 10pc wings, corn and fries. Our order came out to 41 and some change (how idk, but we paid it).Now for the part I hate. The negative side to all of this is the service we received. We asked for our side order if corn numerous times. The waitress, I felt, didnt want to be there. She asked what we wanted and never came back to check on us. I had to wave her down (I hate doing that) for napkins. We actually think they just had an off day. No place of business is perfect, and Ill be surprised if it happened again.I would go back in hopes of the service being a lot better! Only because the food is super amazing! I would still recommend this place!
Visited my brother and he suggested this location. If in Universal City, this small location packs a powerful punch with its food. I had a catfish basket, wife had shrimp and my mother had tilapia since they were out of Drum. I give the food 5 stars, but had to takeaway 1 since they advertised Drum and were out, which was a disappointment for my mother. The lemonade is average, but the waitress offered me one with a splash of kool aid lol. I was skeptical until I tasted it and my wife also liked. I think next time, we will take our food to go. Inside dining was not that great. It could use some remodeling.
Excellent greeting and service upon entering establishment! Ordered to go and was ready with minimal wait. The catfish was lightly breaded and tasty. The cole slaw was creamy and tangy with a nice crispy crunch. Portions were spot on too. It’s truly a hidden gem. Cannot wait to go back. See y’all very soon!
Finally a seafood place that reminds me of home Shreveport Louisiana…… I had my doubts but now I’m a believer gumbo shrimp Boudin Sweet potato pie smothered pork chops crab legs crawfish and etc.

Extremely salty food. I’m upset that I ordered for a family in grief and they weren’t able to enjoy. I ordered a 16 piece catfish family order with 3 orders of fries, onion rings, hush puppies, collard greens, black eyed peas, red beans and rice, and Cole slaw. The family had just lost a loved one and was fried chickened out! So I decided to get something others hadn’t offered which was seafood. The family was ONLY able to eat the meat and fries!!!! Absolutely unacceptable. Please have your team chill out on how much salt they are preparing these meals with. The food was inedible!!!!
One of the best in texas.... soul food fried seafood extreme. Very friendly, greeting you as you come and thanking you as you go. Food is spot on, fried hot, fresh, fast and reasonably priced. Way to go, dont change a thing. Lot of locals coming, instant stream of customers. Excellent sides, catfish is fresh with a perfect breading. Pork chop specials looked awesome, trout plate, so does the fish sandwich. Nice, will be going back!

I’ve eaten here for many of years now , when I was little my grandmother would go up here and bring us back some good ol Bayseas! My favorite is the oysters ! I must say they are very very very delicious and they make me Happy loll Catfish is great ! Along with the drum! And don’t get me started with the sides and the crab legs ! The CRAB LEGS ! Oh mannnn okay I’m getting hungry again thinking about how tasty everything is! Must try ! You won’t regret it ! The food is like crack !! You’ll make your way back 😆
They have some of the Best Grilled fish I have ever had! The fish was grilled to perfection. It wasnt dry or rubbery. It was Superb!

As always, friendly service. The restaurant is well managed, and it shows with the staff. I got the special, catfish and shrimp, with fries and slaw... Nothing but good for your soul cooking... And the portion was more than I can eat. Great food, friendly service, and great value.
Chicken was old black and very over cooked, I dont understand how they called it brown gravy, just a waist of hard earned money, I should of cooked at home, #hated it will not go back. The one 🌟 is for the cabbage.

We were really looking forward to trying this place. I walked up to order and received it after about 345 minutes of waiting. We ordered fried trout combos with hush puppies, an order of fried shrimp, a gumbo and some fried okra. The gumbo is really good. The fried trout had small bones in it that we had to pick out. So I don’t really eat mine. Not sure if I’d go back, it was pretty pricey to not really enjoy the fish - reason I went in the first place.

The staff need a bit of help in understanding people with disabilities... my daughter and her three and I sat down. I always try to tuck myself and my walker out of the way. The Host decided to rearrange the tables. My daughter suggested a way so as not to have me move. The Host insisted I had to get up and move. Were we not hungry and with children... eould have left... will a long while before we go back.

Food is good, but I dont understand how you can call in an order, be told itll be ready in a certain amount of time, arrive about 5 minutes after that time, check in and still have to wait another 10 to 15 minutes...smh
Wow. The food here is plentiful and super tasty. Nice homey dining with courteous staff, great prices, and awsome food. Will surely be back again and again. Fried mushrooms not great. Onion rings awesome. Fried pickles good. Fries plain. Hushpuppis real good. Catfish good. Only complaint is we ordered 3 catfish plates and I didnt get mine till 10 or 15 min after the first 2 plates came. So we just took everything to go. BUT PRICES VERY FAIR AND VERY GENEROUS PORTIONS.

I was on a postmates order, and they took forever with the food. And the excuse they told person after person was its taking so long because they are changing the grease. Which did seem to be true, because once the grease was changed everyone started to get there order. Lastly there were two people looking at my ticket but some how both of them didnt see the order had two coolaids. (Didnt get the coolaids) Thats why only three stars. Luckily I still got tipped $5. She was a in nice lady.
Ive tried just about everything on their menu and ALL of it is delicious. They even make chittlins around the holidays and I dont even like them but I like theirs lol. I love the atmosphere there and they have really good customer service.

Im so glad I dont live close to one of these restaurants. I would be there far too often. Now, its a treat to go there. Ive never been disappointed. They are my go to place for fried fish. Veggies are great, and the desserts, I have to buy several, I freeze them for later. The personnel are always friendly without being fake. Feels genuine from everyone. Most importantly, they NEVER get my togo order wrong. What a concept!!!

February 19, 2021I phoned in order 4:21pm I was told it would take 35minutes. I arrived 4:55pm to pickup it’s not ready. Now 6:16pm still not ready.6:35pm when I finally received my order. The fried fish was tasted like it’s been fried in old oil. But the corn was delicious though
So fresh and delish..was not greasy.They give huge portions..Taste great and great value with a wonderful atmosphere.

Great food the wait was too long....
The gumbo is exceptional. It has genuine Cajun heat to it. The sausage is spicy and flavorful. The batter on the fried shrimp is seasoned and fried perfectly. The wait staff is attentive and efficient. Do not pass this restaurant by, theres something for everyone here. The clam chowder is very tasty.
Always love Bayseas when I stop by. Only problem is the tartar sauce have changed and it taste different. Please go back to the old tartar sauce!
Never disappoints.. everything is good! we usually have the catfish special and its plenty to share. The gumbo and fried okra are also awesome. Desserts are made fresh and the portions are generous. Also service dining in or to-go is always fast!

Family and friends in from out of town, so I took them to my favorite restaurant. They said it was the best Seafood they ever had. The restaurant was super crowded ,,,, but all the waiters were friendly and accommodating. Thanks you Bayseas for showing my family and friends a wonderful time. Fantastic seafood! I personally love the trout special. You always get more food than advertised. I like to order my fish boneless, which is an extra charge, but completely worth it to me. The gumbo is great. My mother loves the fried oysters. She said they are the best in the area. Great staff, very friendly. Highly recommended.
First of all I want to thank all the staff at Bayseas on 78. Ive been going there for two years its always a welcoming atmosphere. Very family-oriented I feel like Im at my Moms Kitchen whenever I visit the food is always fresh. The staff always has a great attitude. Specials are in effect my favorite is a catfish special. The desserts are delicious and everyone feels welcome and important.
Bayseas was delicious! It satisfies your craving for delicious sea food! The staff was friendly, and quick to service. The sweet tea has a strong lemon flavor, when paired with the fried fish, is perfect. The catfish was perfectly fried. Onion rings were delicious too! They were busy, lots of to go orders. So call in and pick up if youre not able to sit down and eat! Would definitely eat here again!

At first I was very excited to eat here, but unfortunately I wont be coming back. Terrible experience. As polite as our server was, the lack of attention is what ruined everything. I understand its a busy establishment, especially on a Friday during Lent, so I dont mind waiting an hour for my food....what I DO mind is watching 4 other tables who got there way after we did, and ordered the exact same meal, get their food first! We asked them to check on our order several times and just kept getting vague responses like its coming or almost out. We did not order anything complicated. Ordered the special which pretty much everyone else got too. That is just ridiculous. They clearly forgot about our order. Never again!
This is my absolute favorite place to eat, food always hot & good. They definitely got somebody grandma & moma back there making it.
We had order in. Told would be about 50 mins. Thats ok. My wife went to get order. They lost order. Now she has to wait another hour for our order. Ive heard this is a normal experience with them. So we as the consumer dont matter. This should not be normal. You should be embarrassed that you make your customers wait because you lost order Obviously those that keep you in business dont matter. Why dont you just close your doors, or better yet why dont we just quit going to your establishment. I know, we will never go here again.
Incredible! The Trout & Flounder were absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are great. The waitress was friendly and the overall experience was what you expect when you go out to eat with your family. Definitely coming back!
The food wasamazing as usual. Great place to eat.We will return of course. Im from Louisiana. The food has great creole flavor.Busy sometimes you will wait a little but well worth the wait.The desserts are great also. Look for the specials not in menu on chalk board.
I’ve been eating here since I was a kid with my parents. I have never had a complaint, the food some how seems to be better each visit. If you like bland boring food this is not the fish place for you. The seasoning is fantastic. The service is always kind and friendly. The wait is never long. This place needs a Michelin Star! ⭐️
Holly mother of all places that is amazing. If you have not eaten here you have no clue what you are missing. Now this is the BEST Bayseas as well. I know there are other locations, however this one is the best one. The ladies here are AMAZING, they are very friendly. If you want great food look no further here it is.

Prices are fair and service is good.Some items Ive ordered were a bit bland in comparison to other seafood restaurants, but the fish here is pretty good and portion sizes are decent. The recommended Catfish Combo offers a decent selection of items that will ultimately help you to decide if you like the food here or not. 2 Catfish, 2 Shrimp, 2 Oysters and fries. Its a meal that will definitely filling.The fish is particularly good, with a very thin breading, fresh flavor, and the meat tender and falling apart. . The oysters are good as well, a bit small, and even on a full order can leave you hungry, so Ive started ordering the combo now. The oysters here are juicy, not fried until they are chewy but soft and tender with decent flavor. However on one occasion I had a few fried oysters that were very fishy tasting and under cooked.Across my 8 visits so far, about 3 of them have been to this location. Wait time for food at lunch has been reasonable, service has always been decent, and the food decent for the price.
I am not too crazy about catfish but this place definitely changed my view. This is my new favorite spot. I highly recommend this place. The best catfish and trout. I enjoyed the fried pickles too. Very friendly staff that treat you like family and the best part you can enjoy fried food that is not greasy. I was impressed by the food not too greasy like most fried foods.
My mom highly recommended this place and I heard that this area is known for making excellent catfish. There was a giant photo of a delicious-looking plate of fried catfish on the side of the building . I must say that I was wondering if this place would live up to the HYPE. IT WAS BETTER!!! The catfish was fresh, seasoned, breaded and promptly fried to perfection. Portions of food and phenomenal lemonade were HUGE. The young, beautiful waitstaff was respectful, courteous and professional.We took turns complementing the owner who was so busy taking orders that we had to wait like 10 minutes to get her attention. This place is a GEM.

Absolutely the best! The food is always so delicious and always tastes so fresh. My husband always comments about how clean the catfish tastes. He always says how other places, the catfish still has that bottom-feeder taste, but not at Bayseas. I decided to try a piece and, oh my goodness, he is so right! I normally wont even attempt to eat fish here in The States, but I will definitely be ordering some from Bayseas. I had the crawfish tails.....YUUUUUUM! Everything was cooked to perfection. Not too much, not too little. The mac and cheese...THE BEST! The cornbread, let me just say, I have never had better. Thank you all so much for such mouth-watering deliciousness!!! We would have taken pictures, but we could not wait to dig in and once we got started, we could not stop. Sorry, not sorry, lol!
Delicious catfish and shrimp. I ordered a shrimp poor boy and four extra shrimp to put in the poor boy. When I receive the poor boy, It was stuffed to the gills with shrimp. It did not need extra shrimp at all. My husband ordered the catfish special. It was supposed to be three catfish fillets, three shrimp,french fries and coleslaw. There were four catfish fillets and shrimp and was enough for two people. The servings are huge
This place is the talk of the town. All I ever hear is how great the food is and how BIG the plates are.. Came to see for myself.....WOW and DELICIOUS. .......5 thumbs up .... . Gets super busy for lunch . The ladies up front were really hustling to stay on top of the crowd.... Bayseas is the best Seafood hands down!!!!!I will definitely be back.
I rating this purely on uber eats. I have never been inside the place itself. We ate the catfish meal, the catish was great! The fries were good and so were the hushpuppies. The tartar sauce was odd, because it was in packages from some other company, Im used to the restaurant making their own batch and giving you the tartarsauce in smaller plastic containers like Rudys fish fry. But it was good, they dont give you alot of tartar sauce. Uber eats didnt let us try their cakes, then when we ordered once they forgot to give us the cake, so I guess weve never tried any of the deserts at this place. Ive driven once by this place and it looks cute, but Ill order again, the fish was really great. If I compared it to Rudys fish fry being a 10, this place would be a 8.
I was looking for oysters and okra for my dads 87th birthday dinner. Couldnt get that from R.L. so I gave this little place a chance. Oh My Goodness they are wonderful! The meal was hot, and fresh plenty of it AND the lovely ladies holding down the fort even left a sweet little birthday note on my dads carry out bag. Im getting ready to head over and get myself some because dad kept raving about it for days. THANK YOU for wonderful food, awesome staff and maintaining a quality restaurant environment.
We were really impressed with the service and food that we ordered. I ordered the trout and shrimp special, okra, red beans and rice, and the portions were huge (enough for two people), and delicious! Everything was great, and you get your monies worth. I Love good eating, and you will get that here!
This is the very first time I visited this establishment. The staff are very friendly and the food is comparable to what you would expect from a fast food restaurant. We tried the special of the day, pretty bland. It was big enough to feed two people, we split the plate. Location is convenient, easy parking.

My husband and I are from Louisiana and Mississippi, but we moved to North Dakota in December, 2010, and in October, 2017, we moved to South Dakota. This past weekend we moved our son from North Dakota to Converse, Texas. Because we dont get much of our traditional foods without cooking them ourselves, we decided to hunt them here. We didnt want chains; we wanted local hangouts, similar to Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. I had my eye on Bayseas for several days, and we finally got to go.My husband ordered the catfish plate as posted which contained three filets, three fried shrimp, cole slaw, fries, and a slice of white bread. I ordered the catfish plate, but I substituted greens for the cole slaw and lightly sweetened cornbread for the fries. I still received the fries and slice of bread. These plates were $9.99, I believe, and the trout plates were $10.99.The filets were large pieces of fish. The shrimp were large, buttterflied, and coated with a light breading. The greens were very tasty as was the cornbread. I had so much food, I shared it with my son when he got home.Because we were so hungry I forgot to take pictures, but thats okay. We should visit our son in about six months, and we will definitely go here again.

Pretty much everything is fried. If you want your fish grilled they can do that too.I had an Arnold Palmer as my beverage, and my guest ordered water. We got two Arnold Palmer. It was way too sweet.I ordered the catfish combo. The fish was fairly bland, and the shrimp overcooked. The oysters were pretty good. I also ordered the fried mushrooms that were good as well.My guest ordered grilled trout, but got fried trout instead. Everything is served on foam plates and cups like its a picnic. The carafe the water came in was absolutely filthy. The menus, table, chair, and floor all felt of grease. Tables are way too close, and the decor hasnt changed in decades. The place looks run down. I was hoping for a better experience based on the ratings, but I think Long John Silvers is probably better.

Food was amazing! We took a detour off I-10 to find food and this sweet place came up on Google Maps. 12-13 minutes off the Interstate but well worth the time to drive here. Nothing was greasy, Fri Jan are super sized and refreshing, and the oysters were HUGE.

We left very pleased with the service and most of all The Food was hot and fresh. My son loved his shrimp and hushpuppies. I had trout&shrimp with fried okra,hubby had Shrimp Po Boy with onion rings. The food portions were good. The fried mushrooms werent terrible. I got the fried catfish and wasnt disappointed.I would really give the place 2.7 stars if possible just because of the service. Everyone was great except for one employee. This employee made the whole meal an awkward experience. Never smiling or speaking for the most part.. Scowling might be appropriate like they were disgusted by us or something. Super weird.Anyway, I probably wont return simply because of the uncomfortableness those at my table felt.

I was watching News 4 this week and saw that they got an blue plate award. Well I was in the area and decided to try them out. All I have to say is damn it was good. Fried catfish, gumbo, boudin and red bean and rice was great. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Ill definitely be going back again. 5 stars from me.
Food is good. Young lady with the blonde hair behind the counter was not very friendly and barely said 2 words to us but greeted everyone else and talked with them. Cake is soooo good! Huge pieces. Nice and clean establishment.Other staff seems VERY nice but if the same person is behind the counter if I go back, I wont be staying.

Not real fancy, but the food is excellent! I had the daily special (3 pieces catfish, 3 shrimp, fries & slaw) for $10.99. Other daily special was trout, same offer, dollar less. Large pieces of fish, fried in cornmeal batter, not at all greasy. The manager knew we were coming and decorated our table in red & purple. (We are red hatters, those are our colors.)There were 10 of us.The waitstaff was efficient in clearing finished plates, and refilling drinks. Without being intrusive.If you like to fish, just not cook, they will cook your catch to order!

I was invited by my neighbor/ friend to go eat there after running some errands. The place was clean, it took a little while to get someone to wait on us, but once she came I ordered my favorite... Fried Catfish. We both enjoyed the good food.
At Bayseas the food is always great. I love the freshness and the portion size of the food.The waitresses are always polite, patience and knowledgeable of the menu and prices. I always recommend Bayseas to other friends and family. Also, I tell everyone that asked me wheres a good place to get soul food and seafood? I always say Bayseas Restaurant on FM 78.
Brought the family to try this location out in Converse, as opposed to going into San Antonio for seafood. The staff was very welcoming, courteous and accommodating. We had the catfish and trout lunch specials. The portions were a great size, more than enough to enjoy their and some left to take home. Would really recommend this place to anyone that wants good fried fish! And they have sweet potato pie and lemon pound cake!!!!
After awhile, the food has no flavor. Its a good place for a quick craving of fried fish but not anything to savor. The service is good and the atmosphere is lively when theyre busy.

Just got Bayseas Thanksgiving meal .....turkey dressing ...yams ..black eyed peas...cornbread rolls And sweet potato pie .......First time trying other types of food from there and it was amazing .....My family and I will make this a yearly tradition at Thanksgiving.... 5 Stars.....ps The smoked cabbage was the best I’ve ever tasted. Very nicely fried and crispy shrimp, oysters, catfish, etc. with a tasty batter. Also, they have a variety of sea soul food. Very delicious meals and drinks. However, the wait time is a little lengthy when its crowded. Its crowded most times unless you go earlier in the day. They close at 8 pm, but are open until 10 pm on Fridays. Worth the visit.
We were just driving by and decided to stop. The hush puppies were delicious. The catfish was cooked perfectly and tender. I could have eaten 10 pieces of their shrimp and asked for more. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants delicious food and friendly service.
Ran down to Converse for a work errand with my husband. We were right off I10 and googled seafood. If youre reading this trying to decide JUST GO !! Catfish and shrimp basket with hushpuppy omg... my husband orders trout with oysters and he had to try their hot wings.. 1 slice of sweat potato pie for the long drive north.The staff is very helpful, welcoming and friendly. We ordered online and for a Friday the wait wasnt bad. Several local repeat customers were obvious based on welcoming they received and they called ahead.Portions were more than menu reflected. Go !! Food is always fresh and you get your moneys worth on the fish but not the sides. You dont get enough on a family order to feed a family of four let alone two.
I absolutely love this location one because I used to work there. Two, because the service is EXCELLENT with Mr. Washington running the restaurant and last but not least. THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD and theyre definitely NOT STINGY when it comes to the amount of food that they give you!
Bayseas has been there for a number of years. In general it is a good place to eat. However its hit and miss. The floor is very slippery, perhaps from all the frying. The dining furniture is not comfortable, it could use a much needed up grade. The tables are just wiped with a damp rag, and there remains an oily sheen. They also sell pies and cakes, you are clueless as to how old they are, fresh or maybe last week, who knows if there are peanuts in the ingredients. If you get the right staff taking care of you well then your served well. But there is one that I totally avoid, she is just mean over and over again. Bayseas doesnt seem to care about professionalism, as long as they make money. What the owner needs to think about is people can go other places.
While the food is good the service was terrible. I understand we went on a busy Friday night but we were rushed to order when the waitress took our drink order the we waited 35 minutes for our appetizers! Were sitting here an hour into our experience and still dont have our food. Getting a refill is a joke and the wait staff never comes by to check on you. The managers response to everything is Its on its way I can honestly say Ill never come back on a Friday night and Im not sure about any other time.

Delicious, tasting fish and butterfly shrimp! Large portion served with fries and cold slaw. Drinks are large and additional cost for refill. Many items on the menu. Several slices of pies and cakes by the slice for dessert. Service was fair but will return for the food!

I have had several friends tell me that I need to try this location out.After a doctors appt this week my sister and I drove out there. The staff was attentive and very helpful.We enjoyed the items that we ordered and took some plates homeI will be back time, and time , and time again.. I have to try everything on different days and times.It reminds me of a medium sized bay front seafood restaurant 223 miles from the nearest bay front..

We always enjoy Bayseas, we had the family Fish, it includes 10 pieces of catfish and two orders of fries, we had enough left over to take to my Grandparents. Probably the best catfish in town, and they have plenty of different items to choose from. It is a must try place here in San Antonio if you love seafood. Wait staff was very helpful and friendly, very sweet.

Gumbo was awesome. Shrimp was great. Pork chop was off the hook. Hush puppies were just right, not greasy. Catfish was great too....and David Robinson was there with his family. Love the Spurs old and new! Try it and youll love it.
One of the very best seafood eatery in San Antonio. Im impressed Everytime I eat here about the service and the food. Anyone who wants great seafood should eat here. The hush puppies are crisp but not burnt the fish is crisp without too much grease. I wish I could give another star just a great experience all around. Except the floor is filmy but you dont eat if the floor but do take care you dont fall it is concerning.

We drove from the Eastside past the only Bayseas I know on WW White Rd to this location.The seasoning was really good, the fish was light and crispy.The fries were unsalted, the catfish was ok... the tartar sauce was not very good to me.We wanted Drum, they had none and we tried their Catfish. We will give this spot another try when they are stocked with Drum - minus their fries...I have heard nothing but awesome things about this establishment.Everyone can have an off day...and they deserve another chance!
First time here ....Everything was amazing! When I walked in I was greeted with a welcome to Bayseas that made me feel at home. And the food was GREAT........,. Got some Sweet potato pie “Wow” and when I left I was hit with thank you and have a bless day .... My new Favorite spot
They are so friendly. The food is very reasonable. Its fresh and totally delicious. This place seems to be a secret jem of the black community as Im always the only white person there when I go. All I can say is I kind of hope it stays MY secret jem so I can always get a table there. 👍 The rest of yall are just flat missing out. Eat your heart out. 😆
The food is great, however, the young ladies as cashiers dont double check to make sure the necessary essentials are provided, i.e. plastic ware, condiments, etc. It would be nice to get back home or work and everything you need that you requested (simple items) is in your bag.
Staff was not friendly at all . The First Lady I talked to was sweet (I wish I knew names) but the second lady that came to take my money was not rude but it felt that way. first of all she didn’t greet me and after she swiped my card and had me sign my receipt she just walked off and went to the back without saying thank you or anything which is rude to me cause I just spent my money here... and the food wasn’t even for me it was for my mother who said it had to much okra in it .. so yeah would not be spending my money there anymore!!
Seafood at its best. Personnel could be a bit more upbeat, however, the service was good! Try that catfish and shrimp special. The order reads, 3-piece Catfish, fries, coleslaw, and 3 shrimp! You will be amazed-my plate had five nice pieces plus the shrimp. The baked potatoes are on point! Bon appetit!

2022-03-12I know we cannot be the only ex pats missing fish fry from up north. And it is true that nothing quite like home can be found here BUT Bayseas is a decent little replacement. Sea food and soul food, I am 100% going back for smothered chops and greens.Plates come out heaping. If you leave hungry that is 100% on you. I couldnt finish my plate. Hell, I barely got through half.Staff were amazing (while being crushed by Lenten fish Friday demand) and we wanted for absolutely nothing. It is not a huge place so go off peak hours if you can or grab it to go.There are several locations I think but we went to the one in Converse so I will highly recommend that one.

2022-05-24What a delicious place to eat. One of the best seafood meals I have eaten. I had the Shrimp and Oyster plate. It looked and smelled so delicious I didn’t think to take a photo until I was half way done with it. I had so much food I had to get a leftover container. It was crowded and we had to wait but the food was worth it.I have eaten seafood across the USA and this is the best fried seafood in San Antonio!! Polite and courteous staff.

My recommendation is the trout and onion rings. Big portions, well cooked and full of flavor. Fridays is a popular day. Parking is a little small. This place is a hiding jewel in Converse Texas.

The food is REAL and the portions are generous. I meant to take pictures, but it was too good!!! I promise to take pictures next time. I was surprised to see it on the menu. And it was fricking delicious. Green beans, too. Best meal Ive had in a long time. Except for my wifes cooking, of course. I love my wife, so I have to say that.

2022-04-20I love how inventive the were to my request. One if the ladies actually came back out to let me see my fish before they packed it away to ensure it was correct. Im pretty picky about my gumbo but theirs is pretty good!
