The coolest kid section! Pre-COVID, my 5 year old and I spent many hours hanging out at this library, whether attending their events or just playing with their selection of toys and learning tools. The books always are in great condition, but most of the DVDs are unusable. STEM kits for all ages can be checked out, which include a few musical instruments, coding kits, science experiments, microscopes and more.
Not impressed, first time to come in here and the place was super clean. Great, right? All was well until a man took his shoes and socks off and acted as if it was no big deal. And then to make matters worse staff actually walked past him while his shoes and socks were off.
I went to the library to use a computer and print some documents. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I didnt have to wait to use a computer. Cleaning supplies were provided to wipe down the plastic over the keyboard because of Covid-19 precautions. I will be coming back to use a computer again and possibly check out some books!
The Bedford Public Library provides excellent public programs and has a broad selection of materials for patrons. I have enjoyed being taught how to utilize their hold system that allows me to access even more content than is on their shelves. I have been going to this library for many years now. There is a knowledgeable staff that are friendly and helpful. I wish some of the patrons would respect the Library more. I have never had any issue with getting access to materials or assistance with computers when I request help. I appreciate that the Library asks me for Identification before making modifications to my account, as this protects me from a myriad of undesired consequences. The Bedford Public Library is a wonderful place for the community of Texas to gather and enjoy enriching our lives.
I remember when this was an old grocery store. Its amazing what theyve done to this building. Its well designed, has advanced drop-off system that you can view from a window, self-checkout, and more.I primarily came to bring my son to story time. The lady reading and sharing was fantastic. The childrens area has a lot of interactive toys, computer games, and live chicks that you can observe with explanations on how they are hatched and grow in the egg! Plus, it has a wide selection of DVDs and books.
I live in Hurst and really appreciate the modern convenience of the computer room and self check out. I feel comfortable studying for licensing exams, finding books I want for both my husband and myself as well as appreciate the helpful staff.I found this Library honored Hurst residents when there was a power outage at the Hurst Library. I felt very welcomed and drive the extra distance every week! I love this well planned Library and staff!
This is a nice small-town library. The amenities are fine and they have some really cool stuff going on in the summer. If you want a library for activities then this is your place! The only complaint I have is that the organization and categorization of books doesnt make a lot of sense so it is hard to find books (although the childrens section is AWESOME and they have cool STEM kits you can check out with robots and magnets and stuff). My old library had awesome genre stickers on most of the fiction books. Some of the books here do, but not many. Also, the teen section is kind of small (YA fiction) and trying to search for genres on their catalog is tricky. They dont have a historical fiction category. Their genres are all hyper focused like Texas History-fiction and random stuff like that which makes it hard to find books. But that is really a small complaint for an otherwise awesome library!
I absolutely love this library and its staff. they have been wonderful with everything we have asked about. They are very helpful and kind. I also like that this library is part a network with an app so I can renew items through the app if I dont happen to make it there before they are due. Another thing I can say is that the activities we have attended have been very entertaining and educational.
The building is beautiful and seems to carry a nice variety of books and movies. Too bad the staff is so rude and condescending. Maybe this library doesnt have the budget to hire quality people. Today, March 7, 2015 at about 2:30 the women at the front desk were especially rude and I noticed it was not just to my daughter and me, but also to two other visitors at the time we were at or near the desk. An older woman needed assistance and the clerk was so rude to her that my daughter stepped in to assist the lady. My daughter especially dislikes disrespect to senior citizens and these woman were very obviously disrespectful and rude to this woman. We have recently started going to the Hurst Library most of the time even though it is much further away. They are much friendlier and respectful and so very helpful. If we ALL knew as much about libraries and technology we would NOT need these people at all.....just ONE person at the door to keep an eye on the library and one to reshelf the items that come back in....guess they havent realized that their jobs are there because of the patrons!!! I wish these librarians would have to take classes a couple of times a year to learn and re-learn RESPECT and KINDNESS and to NOT be rude to the people who make their jobs necessary!!
Great staff, many book/movie options, many options for kids books/media, serene environment, very cheap printing options, electronic check in/out, drop off box, fast internet connection, private rooms for studying/meetings. Overall, I have had great experiences with this library.
It is very distressing to read that our public staff is rude to our library users. All of the other comments and observations are very positive. It is a good thing that people can change, learn and even find a better place to get a job if they are unhappy at this beautiful library...
This place isnt guest-friendly, and I would recommend the Colleyvill or Grapevine Public Libraries over this one any day. My friends and I went here to work on a school project. First, in order to get a room, we had to trade in an ID. The elderly lady who assisted us wasnt very patient or nice, and kept treating my friends and I like we were children. Then, when we tried to print something for the project we were doing, we found out that you need a state ID and to be over 18, which none of us expected. The Grapevine or Colleyville Library wouldve been better. They dont need an ID for anything but checking out books. While they do have a good selection, its noisy, the librarians arent nice, and you need an ID for things you wouldnt expect.
I came into today to pick up my library card and was refused. Im eligible for a card. Id applied for a card online and just needed to pick it up but was refused. I was refused because the lady running the information desk was too focused on getting off work and refused to help me. She was rude and unkind and reflected very poorly on the library. I left the Bedford library and drove down the street to the Hurst library. Even though Im not a Hurst resident, they were more than happy to issue me a card to their library. So the Hurst Library has a new patron.

2022-07-13I love this library! The children resources are well thought out and the librarians are a joy to speak to as well as patient with the children. If your children play with the toys please be sure to helpnthe librarians keep this place tidy and neat for all to enjoy! I clean up after my little one but its best to sing the clean up song so its fun for everyone 🧸🪀👼🏾👼🏻👼🏽👼🏾👼🏿🪀🧸

2022-04-24I’ve been visiting this library for 14 years now but I’ve never left a review til now. I really like that Bedford Public Library is open on Sundays. However, I don’t like that after picking up a hold today at the Information desk, I had to check out at self check out. Why couldn’t the ladies at Information check out my books for me? There was no one else in line. And at Hurst Public Library, the Check Out desk doesn’t make you go somewhere else to check out books after you pick up a hold. At BPL, two of the self check out stations were’t working. They have only 3 or 4. While I was wasting my time trying to find one that would scan my card, someone at Information could have been checking out my books for me.

2021-06-07Seems like a nice community library, good clean cut. The Public WiFi seems defective. If thats a major factor in your visit; be advised to find a different location.

2022-03-31Nice facility, clean, and well organized. It is pretty loud here. Kids are yelling, staff members and other visitors are having loud conversations.*Update* March 2022, STILL a loud library.

2022-06-03Took my grandbaby to the childrens section. She chose this day to be antisocial so we avoided the activities but she enjoyed the toys.
