I was there on Fri my dog sweetpea had a tick in her ear a vet assistant came out n said the initial exam was 60.00 just to see sweetpea ,so I pulled out 60.00 in cash she took sweetpea to the building to get tick pulled from her right ear then hour later she called told me she was done tick got removed, then vet tech came out n said owed 83.00 so I got ripped off 60.00 Im not happy with them I will be calling on mond to get my 60.00 that was ripped from me I payed in cash .... Thank u areal for recognizing that u all made the mistake was mad at the moment
Originally went to Frontier Veterinary Clinic, but they referred us to Big Country Vet due to them not being able to do a plate fracture repair. I must say I was very impressed by the staff and Dr. Ueckert. They explained everything thoroughly, and truly seemed like they cared about our Jake. They updated us after his surgery and the Dr. came out and explained stuff to us as well. It took some getting used to due to how you check in, but they do offer for you to come inside as well. Jake also has anxiety in the vets office but he did a lot better at Big Country than the other vet we took him to. I think we found our go to vet for our Jakey-poo!
No continuity of care here as every animal sees a different vet each time. Unfortunately, their treatment decisions also vary so it is hard for an owner to determine which opinion is correct. They also require a new office visit for EVERY issue, despite the fact that an animal has been seen at least 5 times in the previous 3 weeks. They also stopped taking vouchers from the Animal Shelter for spays/neuters and rabies several months ago. So much for helping the community fight animal overpopulation. Pure economics here!
Bailey at big country vet did a great job !!! he was very kind respectful :) and you can tell he was very passionate about his job, he is great with animals and deserves recognition! thank you for making my day, and thank you for making powders day and making sure she’s happy and healthy.
The grooming facilities associated with this vet should be shut down. It is not in line with the standard of care they have on the vet side of the business. I have gone to them once a month for over a year for regular grooming appointments and my dog would always come back upset but I thought it was her personality and that she was just nervous. I noticed a mark on her leg once from shaving too close but understand that things like this can easily happen so I pushed my concerns aside. The final straw occurred when I picked up my dog and she was clearly injured on her front left paw. She wouldnt put weight on it in the car and then she didnt walk on it for almost 24 hours. I called to ask what happened and they said nothing. Again, I can understand that nails get cut too short or other things of this nature but my dog was clearly shaken and in pain for so long. They took no responsibility.I arranged for a mobile groomer to come to my house and my dog was not nervous but was acting so relaxed and happy after the grooming appointment. The new groomer informed me that her ears were completely matted with hair deep down and that there was no way the previous groomers did what they should have.If you care about your pets mental and physical health - I do not recommend taking them to this place for grooming. We will also be finding a new vet ASAP.
My sweet Tanzee was having seizures, and they were NOT getting better. So, I went there and they calmly went over my choices with me. The staff was very understanding and comforting for me, and in the short time they got to know my Tanzee, they fell in love with her too. She was loved and treated very well. The end result was not a good one. But my baby knew she was loved and honored. Thank you B. C. V. for being by my side in that difficult situation. I will turn to you again, if I need your services. I fully trust you all.
Very Very happy with the grooming and the vet. They took such great care of my fur baby!!!!My dog has very high anxiety and had a very bad experience at another place in town with another groomer. I thought he would never trust another groomer or vet again, but I took him to Big Country Veterinary Clinic and they were so patient and kind to my dog. He looked great when I picked him up and was his happy self.
They were so nice and very fast. My kitten is a jerk, honestly, and they said he was super sweet and they loved him. My dog is a service dog for me so he gets anxious if he leaves me, but he was super comfortable with them and came back happy with his tail wagging and actually whined when we started to leave. Best vet ever by far!
My kitten ingested foam from an exercise mat that caused him to projectile vomit. I took him to his regular vet that said they would monitor him but the veterinarian would be leaving at 12 and would not be back if things went south. I asked that Big Country be contacted to see if they would take him so that he wouldn’t have to be transferred if he continued to decline. Big Country took him right in. He did have an intestinal obstruction that required surgery. I am so glad I had him transferred! Dr. Arche and the staff were fantastic and kept me informed every step of the way. Max is home and doing great! Thank you so much!
I took my crazy lab/shepherd mix here for the first time. We usually go to the one on base since we’re military. I was shocked at how quick it was to just get a rabies shot. Cheaper too! Usually it takes forever waiting for the vet to come in the room and exam them. Staff was very friendly. The place was very nice. And the “COVID aware” set-up right now is very convenient being able to stay in the car with two little kids. We will definitely come back with our other dog when it’s time!
They have the friendliest staff. I walked in carrying a large crate with 5 puppies scheduled to receive their 2nd round of puppy shots/deworming. I think they adored my puppies as much as I do. They answered any questions I had, and once the appointment was concluded, they even carried my crate of puppies out to my vehicle for me. This is the best veterinary clinic Ive been to yet. I highly recommend Big Country Veterinary Clinic. They truly care about your pets.
The new home of several veterinarians in the area, the building is gorgeous. The veterinarians here have taken amazing care of our dog. We have only been patients of theirs during the Covid 19 pandemic. There are numbered spaces and when you arrive, you call in or text to check in. They come to your car to retrieve your pet, discuss concerns, bring your pet back, handle payments, etc.
I really love the crew at big country. i learned of them through a local pet rescue group i volunteer for and now i wont go anywhere else!! they are super awsome and truly care about your pet. i have 5 dogs and i take all of them there. i dont trust easily but i totally trust them!
I had 2 (!) spur-of-the-moment fur emergencies but no appointments were immediately available. How KIND to let me drop them off anyway! SAME DAY they contacted me on diagnosis. They informed me by phone every step of the way what was happening from kitty is being made comfortable to kitty needs surgery to surgery went well kitty resting to were standing with you for her recovery always being considerate of kitty (AND my work schedule!). I never heard a negative word. Always kind, always positive, always helping.Having continuity of care is such a relief. Same vet that handled the first response has been giving me updates throughout. No confusion there! A great team working to do THE VERY BEST for my fur family. To all of you, THANK YOU!!
I have been bringing my pets to Big Country Vet for several years now. I have had many great experiences, but the most recent one was extremely disappointing. My pup passed away a couple of weeks ago under their care. I had taken him in to the ER vet on industrial for mild tummy issues and both vets were aware of his history of seizures. At this point he had been seizure free for almost 8 months. After administering the meds prescribed by the Er vet, my dogs health began to decline, and by the end of the week, he was back in Big Country for seizures. At the end of the day he had passed. I was shocked by all of this considering he had been so healthy for so long. After researching the meds given to my puppy, two specifically had side effects of increased seizures. I decided to go in to the vet and speak with the dr in person and ask some questions about these meds. Dr Eckert was rude and very insensitive. I went there hoping for some clarity and closure, and left feeling defeated and misunderstood/unheard. Losing a pet is extremely difficult, and I think he could have handled that situation in a much more polite manner. Also, I chose to pick up my pets remains, and have him buried. I expected him to be in a box like most vets I’ve heard of doing, and they brought my baby out in a plastic sack. Again I’ll say, I’ve had some very good experiences with this vet in the past, but this one was awful, and has really made me rethink using them for my fur babies in the future.
Took my dog here to get neutered and get his rabies shot, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They answered all my questions (no matter how ridiculous) and were understanding. I will definitely be taking my other animals here in the future.(It also made me laugh a bit that Walker was seen by Dr. Walker)
I brought my dog in an emergency situation. I was quoted $800 on the phone for her treatment. I get there, and they charged me $900. I was in hysterics and didnt even notice until I got home later. My dog is fine. However when I questioned the staff about the descrepency between what I was quoted and what I was charged, I was told that they would be sure to not make that mistake again in the future with other customers. When I asked to speak to the office manager, she was incredibly rude and actually hung up on me while I was speaking to her. I also took the time to call around to other clinics and found out I could have had the same procedure done elsewhere for nearly half the cost. So do your research before bringing your pet here. They care more about a hefty bottom line than providing the most affordable care they can. And more importantly, the unprofessionalism between the staff misquoting me and the office manager hanging up on me mid sentence is unacceptable.
I was very pleased with the care and service my puppy received from Big Country Veterinary Clinic. They are very professional and very courteous. Dr. Walker was very good about listening to my concerns and she did a great job caring for my puppy. I will take my pets to them for care in the future and recommend them to anyone else for their pets as well. Very fair prices for the amount of care my puppy received, I could hardly believe it. Very compassionate group and a very organized team on their staff. Thank you so much for your service. Cant say enough for these folks.
We had urgent need for our dog and were visiting town. Big Country Vet Clinic got us in and did a thorough job testing our sweet boy. They delivered the worst news to us in a compassionate and straightforward manner. We had to put our dog down and they were accommodating, kind, and thoughtful. We received a card in the mail signed by each of them, with an inked paw print from our dog. I appreciate that act more than I can say and it touched our family. Thank you!
The staff was very nice, patient and informative when I called and when they came to the car to get my puppies! Despite the negative reviews I read, I decided to give them a try and they did exceptional. I don’t feel they were trying to make a quick buck or were overly expensive-they did explain everything (heartworm, pain meds, if something went wrong etc) so maybe that’s where others felt they were wanting them to buy more? I did not have any surprises when it came to cost- I was quoted a total before the procedure and yes I was called to see if I would like the cone of shame at additional cost but did not feel pressured into purchasing. I was called after the procedure letting me know how it went and that they were fine. Pick up was easy! One day post spaying and neutering and they are healing just fine! Highly recommend them!
No words can Express how wonderful these veterinarians and all their team from front entrance to completion of treatments has been for us and our pup, which had a rough start in life and she doing good. Bujji Babieblue and us are so thankful., Well first half of this post I wrote 3 years ago, and didnt get the post option pushed, now 3 years later Bujjii Babieblue is spoiled to the absolute core, bossing everybody around, We are still more then grateful for all the service Big Country Vet provides, they worked through this pandemic and not skipped a step. Now servicing this crazy Wild fire, displacement.Great place, great service, great vets, techs and Kennel workers work hard too, As long as pups are happy, were happy. Thank you Big Country Vet.
I adopted my first pet recently, and I took her to Big Country Vet per recommendation from several friends. I was impressed with how quickly they were able to see us. As a new cat mother, I had many questions and the vet tech and vet answered my questions thoroughly. I will recommend Big Country Vet Clinic to all of my pet parent friends!
Not sure what the bad reviews are about, Ive been with big country for years and they have always been friendly and reliable. Staff is always friendly , my little dog is a jerk most of the time but they are always patient with him and always get me in when I need my pet to be seen if he is sick. They dont overcharge and I have never got the feeling they dont care for the animals at the clinic. My pups are like my children and I trust big country with their care.
A Place for Peace of Mind for Your Pets and You Too!!!!After 2 years of going from vet to vet spending my savings, not getting extensive exams with unclear explanations, feeling rushed most times, I found Big Country Vet Clinic! They REALLY listened and focused more on my baby girl, Lola-Lee than me. Jessie was on the front lines answering the phone and my million questions with kindness, courtesy and patience. Karol escorted us from the car to the room and exhibited extensive patience listening to my every word. Dr. Arche went above and beyond to calm my fears, answer my questions and run all the necessary tests to give me the clear and concise resolve I needed. Bonnie the office manager was caring and kind as well. My baby, Lola-Lee does not take well to others, but was puddy in their hands....she trusted them and I knew I could too! Ive even had follow up questions that were promptly answered. The best vet visit weve ever had and the only place well ever go again!!!!
This clinic may be good for average daily dog care for backyard dog owners, but if you have an animal that is actually of value I would highly recommend a different location.I took my 6 month old puppy there to have a surgery to correct a condition known as cherry eye. The vet convinced my wife upon arrival to complete a stitching procedure to reattach the gland. Well, this may have been fine, if done correctly. My puppies eye was mutilated when I arrived. She was covered in blood and did not have a cone to protect her from scratching her eye which made everything far worse! I am extremely saddened and disappointed. I worked a long time to pay for a dog which costs $2500.00.... and now this clinic has stripped all that happiness with simple neglect, non attentiveness, and laziness. Her eye is worse and after spending $500 here. I now will need a specialist to correct this. These people are HORRIBLE.
I have very high expectations when it comes to the care and safety of my animals. I want to thank Joe, Jennifer, and Rachel in grooming! They all were so helpful with Marlee and making her (and me!!) feel comfortable with the grooming experience!! They even let me know how she was doing and where she was when I called to check on her!! Definitely recommend Big Country Vet to anyone!!!
It were my first time there, but what an Amazing place, what a wonderful, friendly, amazing people work there. My Fog do not go that easy with other people that just met, and he goes like nothing, like if he knows the nice young Lady forever. Try it you and your pet do not gonna regret it. God bless.
Great place! The building is clean, and the staff is super friendly! We are from out of state, and they took great care of my fur baby. I had my cat spayed, and she was boarded while we had to leave town. They sent pictures of my cat every day, so I could see her. The vet met with me personally and answered all my questions before her surgery. My girl usually does NOT like new people, and she warmed up to the staff. Very affordable prices as well! Id definitely recommend them, and use them again!
Very disappointed in big country vet. We usually talk so highly of this place and recommend all our friends to it. Unfortunately, today it felt they cared more for the money then my dog. My dog needed an exam done for her hips but the doctor called to let us know they were not able to perform the exam due to her being too timid, he wasn’t able to touch her. (I couldn’t go in due to covid protocol) The vet then proceeded to tell us pain medicine would be the best. Everything was fine until we got the bill. We got charged for the exam that didn’t even happen. I called and asked and nothing could be changed. In my opinion if the exam couldn’t be performed then we shouldn’t be charged. No exam was done but we still had to pay.
Pls Dont take your animals here for spay and neuter. Horrible experience yesterday..They’ll tell you one price and they keep asking for more money along the way during surgery. After there was no more money left to give for additional fees, they sent dog home with stitches coming out and bleeding.. will see if I can post pictures here. But please don’t take your dogs here you’ll regret it! They care nothing for the welfare of the animal just the money.
We have been using this vet for years and they never disappoint. The vets are all so attentive and knowledgeable. We now have a senior dog and Dr. Arche makes sure to take the time to explain things to us and get my pup’s meds right. They are always quick to get us in and taken care of. I would recommend Big Country Vet for all of your fur baby’s health needs.
I had to put my 14 year old dog down this past week and they were sweet, caring and very patient as we said goodbye. The Vet prayed over us and our sweet baby before she passed and it was exactly what we needed in that moment. The nurse was so understanding and comforted me as I cried next to my sweet girl. We received a card in the mail today with her paw print on it and all of the staffs signature inside.Meant the world to us for sure! We would recommend this vet to anyone and everyone! Thank you, Big Country!!
I personally travel back to Abilene from the metroplex just to have my pet seen at Big Country. I bring my pet every summer for his shots and typically if I’m even on a quick trip to town they ALWAYS can squeeze me in the same day I call. The facility is always clean which is really important you don’t come out smelling like puppy. The nurses and vet are really nice and always informative. Even with the new Covid restrictions I take pride in how organized and safe they have kept it for the pets and customers. I could easily find a vet closer to home but nothing beats the service that Big Country provides. I’ll continue to be loyal for the coming years. Keep up the work and quality service!!
Dont Go Here! My mom had scheduled a grooming appointment for my Yorkie Terrier for today! When my mom called to schedule his appointment, they never told her that he would need a worm test. This is during the pandemic and you dont go inside. They are parking spots with numbers on them. You call the number that is on the window. When I called the number, it took forever to find him in the system. A man comes out. My dogs shot records are in my phone. He tells me that my dog needs worm testing. He offered to call the place where I got the shots to verify if he had worm testing. They were going to charge $16 if he didnt have a worm test. We left Scrumpy there. A few hours later, he called me and asked if my vet had ever told me that Scrumpy would have to be sedated to groomed. Scrumpy has never had a problem with groomers..not Petsmart, Petco, anywhere. They said he was jittery. They said they tried for awhile. Then let him rest for a hour. They tried again. I guess because we couldnt walk into the building that he was jittery but like I said Scrumpy never had a problem. Scrumpy was whining after this, so I dont know what happened. It seems like that are out to get your money since the man told me that this has happened to first time customers!!
I recently brought in my male cat on 06/27/2019 to be neutered. The front desk receptionists were very pleasant as well as the technician who I encountered. They had made me feel very welcome and reassured with my cats procedure. They sent me updates how the procedure went as well as reminders prior to his procedures. I would definitely recommend this vet clinic to anyone. Also, the vaccinations are great prices.
We are terribly disappointed with the service here. They have lost or misplaced the vet records multiple times for both our dogs despite verifying it with their staff multiple times. Their front desk staff is the absolute worst; terrible customer service or awareness. On top of asking them several times what shots are needed for boarding, they failed to tell us of the requisite shots preventing us from boarding our dogs.Take your business elsewhere! You and your pets deserve better.
Dr Archey & all the staff @ Big Country Vet are amazing. Even our grumpy, old boxer Flex was a fan. They were great with him & us all the way to the end of his passing. A few days later we received a card in the mail signed from the staff with condolences on Flex’s passing along with his stamped foot print & their kind words. Very compassionate. We rescued & fostered a Rottweiler mix that needed surgery after being hit by a car. After a night at the emergency vet clinic Dr Archey & his team was ready to continue Jax’s care all the way to his forever home. Now we have a new 8 week old female Boxer named Oakley & once again we will use Dr Archey & the amazing staff at BigCountryVet!! ALWAYS!! ❤️
My dog has been coming to them since she was spayed. They are professional, have good bedside manner and listen to whats going on. I called to make a same-day appointment, and they made it happen. It makes me beyond happy to know that Nala is always going to get good care.
Let me preface this with the fact that I am absolutely a crazy dog mom and Ill accept nothing but the Best for my babies. This place and the staff are Amazing! They are so friendly, very knowledgeable, and treat my pups like a prince and princess! Their prices are fair, their in-person/phone customer service is Excellent, & the facility is clean and beautiful! Weve definitely found our new vet! Thank you BCV!
Disappointed. My fiancés dog was put down by this facility. The Vet that put down my fiancés sweet dog was absolutely honorable and respectable however the cremation process was a disappointment. We paid the money to receive Abbys remains in a box and we received her box with the name spelt Ally. I called and left a message asking that this be corrected and never received a call back….Seems to me that they got their money and didn’t care.
Adopted 2 kittens.. they have helped them when sick and needed antibiotics twice. They neutered them both for me and it went well. My little girl pulled her stitches out, they were able to get her in an hour after I called and stapled her up and slapped a cone on her head. Only charged me $8 for the cone.
I took my Goldendoodle here for grooming, since he was about 4 months old. Never had a problem until last week. I dont know if they have a new person grooming the dogs, or if they were just having a bad day, or if they just dont care anymore, but they BURNED HIS TESTICLES and cut the inside of his ears! After 5 days, his testicles got better, but his ears still havent healed & have large scabs on them where they were burned. Needless to say, I am furious & will never take my dog there again. I wonder how that groomer would feel if they had hot clippers pressed on their junk, long enough to cause that type of burn. If I could post pictures, I would!
We recently adopted Marshall from the shelter and once we got home discovered that he was sick. I called Big Country Vet the next morning and they got me in later that same day. I was told that due to Covid they were not allowing anyone in the building so once got there I needed to call and they would come out and get him. When we got there it was clear they were very busy but the lady that came out to get him still took the time to explain everything to us and answer all of our questions. She was kind and patient with us and Marshall.
I absolutely love this place.. They are so compassionate and always ease any worries I have.. They were there for us when our 13yr old dog came down with cancer and succumbed after 1 1/2 years.. they were amazing the entire time. We have 4 dogs currently, and 2 passes that they were amazing with. I wouldnt trust my dogs anywhere else.💗💗💗
I have been to Big Country Veterinary three times this year with my 2 yr. old yorkie mix. Each time the experience has more then met my expectations. The staff is friendly and considerate. I feel the prices are reasonable, once I ask about the price of a procedure and they were willing to give me a price list.. Love them❣💕
A great place to bring your pets if they are Ill, injured need to be fixed, or just need a check up and shots. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The clinic was very clean and comfortable, with lots of space in the waiting area. Their prices are fairly reasonable compared to other Veterinary Clinics. They were able to get me in on the same day with only an hour left before they closed. I would definitely recommend visiting this vet clinic for all your pets needs. 🐕🐈🐢🐦🐴
They were helpful on everything I wanted done for my 2 boys ( 2 chihuahuas). If your pet(s) need worming I highly recommend this place not hard on the wallet. Great drs and staff members are great with your 4 legged child. So dont let the big office scare you the prices are the best in town.
Big Country Vets seems to be a great clinic. We have taken our dog and cats to the vets there several times. Our daughter recommended them to us as she takes her animals there. There is one thing I wish they would change. No one wears a name tag nor do they introduce themselves when they come into the room. You may consider this normal in a small town, but I think it is rude. However not knowing who I’m talking do doesn’t mean they aren’t good with my pets, because they are always good with them.
Everyone has been so friendly and helpful everytime we go into the office or speak to someone on the phone. My little guy had been injured pretty badly and needed surgery if he ever had a chance at walking again and they all have been so great with him and us as well. They have contacted me for every step of the way communicating his progress and has allowed/encouraged us to come visit him while hes trying to recover. I will be bringing all of our furr babies here from now on.
I love this veterinary clinic because the staff really shows that they care about your animals. One of the vets there, I dont know her name, but I love how she lets me know what is going to be done with your pet before she actually does the procedure. And scheduling an appointment is super easy and they can squeeze you in if you need to see someone right away. Its a little pricey and sometimes the wait time is a little long but all in all I think theyre worth it.
Our sweet pup (9yr old pittie) tore her ACL and Dr. Ueckert did an exceptional job with the surgery to repair her leg. Professional, compassionate, and great communicator throughout the whole process. I cannot say enough about what excellent care we received at Big Country Vet Clinic. Thank you for taking care of our fur baby!!
Have been using Big Country for many years. They cared for our first Bichon for 14 years. They were always professional, but most of all very caring! Now we are using them for our now 8 year old Bichon and doing a great job in there new facility. I will be using them next week for an extended BOARDING stay. (A little nervous since this is first time to board, but I am sure they will take great care!
If I could leave NO STARS I would. I use to LOVE big country when they were by 711. Used them for YEARS. But now its all about the money for them .. I was called 3 times today asking for more money when I used a voucher from the shelter. Rude and inconsiderate was all I got from them. Needless to say they have banned me from using thek due to me speaking my mind and asking questions upon why they keep charging me more money. HORRIBLE PLACE FOR YOUR PET AND YOUR MONEY
I live in Odessa and there are no internal medicine or orthopedic Drs in my area.We used to have to drive to Dallas until I heard about Big Country. We lived in Wylie for a time so it was very easy to locate...unlike the Dallas area. The new building is great, the girls are super nice, and the orthopedic Dr was very professional and experienced.Great job guys. Im spreading the word here and of course well be back!
This is an awesome clinic! They are very busy but my dog and I didnt wait very long to be seen and our vet was super nice and caring. Afterwards we got a great tour of the spa/boarding facility. My dog was boarded for several days while I was on vacation and they sent me pictures every day.
Dr. Arche saw our cat at the emergency vet clinic over the weekend, and then at Big Country’s clinic a couple of days later for hip surgery. Dr. Arche was knowledgeable, kind, and helpful, and our cat is recovering well. The communication with the office staff was a little confusing, and I was told conflicting or incomplete information over the phone and in automated text messages. The clinic was very busy both times I was there, so maybe I just caught them at a bad time.
Dr. Arche & the whole staff are amazing! We asked for a tour & the owners wife, Linda, very kindly walked around the entire facility with us & showed us the all hospital, treatment, & boarding areas. Far & away the most up to date and comprehensive veterinary office Ive ever seen. (Yall, they even have a pool for puppy swim therapy!) Very pleased to use this office for my fur-babies from now on.
I absolutely love this place!!!! Every experience is just wonderful! They love my dogs Sheerah and Ponch and my dogs love them!! They take such good care of them and are always willing to work with any situation. Both were of different situations and they worked with both of them so well! Truly blessed to have them to be able to take care of my dogs whether boarding shots sick etc. Love the staff!!
Great experiences with this clinic even when the circumstances werent ideal. The front office staff and technicians are always courteous and kind.Dr. Ueckert, has always made it a point to personally call and give us options or updates when our dogs were undergoing lab tests or surgery.
My family has been coming here since I was a little girl. Now, as an adult I bring my own fur-babies here. They have always been helpful and kind whether it is for regular check-ups, or to say goodbye to a dear family member. They will always be my first choice for vet care!
We dont live in Abilene but were in town visiting relatives when we needed to see a vet for our injured mini dachshund. Big Country were able to fit us in within a few hours of calling and took very good care of our puppy. If we lived there, I would chose Big Country to be our regular vet.
Our hound puppy had an intestinal blockage that nearly killed her. Dr.Ueckert ran some tests and operated on her the same day. He saved her life. We could not be happier with the service we received here. Big country has a state-of-the-art facility and excellent doctors I could not recommend them more.
I came in to do a quality of life check up with the vet here and sadly had to put my sweet baby down before thanksgiving but the team at this vet were so amazing and respectful during one of the hardest things i had to do in my life. I am so glad i picked this vet to help my puppy over the bridge. RIP my sweet Lilli girl
I couldnt be more happy with the experience. I am from out of town and my dog was hit by a car. They had no problem getting her into surgery as fast as possible. They got my baby all fixed up and we headed home. Thank you so much for making one of the worst days of my life better. Sadie is doing fantastic.
The best! Have been taking our 2 dogs there for vet and kennelling for a couple of years. Adopted our 3rd there as a rescue they were trying to place. So many great things to say about every aspect of their care, too much to list. We will not be going anywhere else, nuf said
This was my dogs first time here. The tech and the vet made no efforts to calm her or even go through any type of etiquette to properly introduce themselves to a dog. They came into the room did not introduce themselves to my dog and immediately grabbed her in a bearhug and started giving her shots. She did not even administer the whole bordetella vaccine, my dog pulled away and the vet said oh she didnt get it all, but that should be enough. My dog usually does great at the vet, but she was terrified. Horrible bedside manner and unnecessary roughness.
This place is very well kept and the staff are extremely friendly. They actually seem like they care and love animals, which for some reason is becoming more and more scarce. Theyre passionate about what they do and are compassionate when it comes down to having to put an animal down. This is our vet.
Wonderful staff and very helpful. They helped save my babies life. Emergency process was very easy, payment was cost effective and hospital care was cautious even with Covid in the world we felt very safe! Thank you all so very much! Jazlyns family GREATLY appreciates you!!
Ive not had to wait longer than about 20 mins maybe and that was on me, getting there to early. Vistis are short and sweet to the point.Started using them because our puppy Boo, was at emergency clinic. This is where ER vet said to take her. Nothing but great service experice ever time.Told a friend about them and the voucher for spay and neuter and she just loved them.Im sure thier just as human as the next customer service person you meet, but Ive not experienced any but good. Thanks Guys & God BlessDog Mom: Sherry N.Dogo: Boo N.
I am a crazy cat/dog mom. I took all 4 of my babies to get flea medicine today. First off, they wouldnt sell me anything until weight checks were done, which I could understand on my dog, & the kitten seeing as they havent been yet. Then we get there and were discussing medication options and there were none for the cats that werent topical ointments. This is upsetting due to the fact that my 4 year old tabby is allergic to most everything and they groom each other constantly. She has a booboo from scratching her neck and needed something fast acting that would not irritate that. Nobody wanted to be patient with me, they recommended collars that cost $60 a piece but my poor girl could even wear hers until her booboo healed? HOW WAS THAT SUPPOSED TO HELP HER?! Youre supposed to be knowledgeable about animals and how to help. Not to mention the doctor seemed to not want to touch my dog at all.(who was getting vaccinated) Hes a pitbull, but hes best friends with our 3 cats. Hes not aggressive. He ran up to the doc to say hello and get some love and the doc gave him a dirty look. I have an appointment to get my babies fixed and after that we will be seeking a new vet entirely. Very disappointed.
The new clinic seems nice but the parking is limited and confusing. Is there parking at the front of the building? When carrying an injured animal in a crate, its hard to open the front doors, they should have electronic openers. The dog I brought in for treatment had to be brought back 2 other times and eventually hospitalized which just makes me wonder. The dog was not initially fitted with a cone following surgery so she naturally pulled out her stitches.
This is a very, new, modern and clean facility. I see a different doctor every time we take a pet in...not my favorite way to do business as I like to develop a relationship with those who help our family so will see if we continue utilizing services. Very much liked Dr. Darco as her bedside manner was great.
I took my cat in to have her groomed, and I asked (while she was mildly sedated) if they would check inside her mouth, because when she eats, acts like something is stuck in her teeth. They told me it would cost $45 extra to check inside her mouth. I was a little irritated when they would not do it, but understand that it is their practice and can charge additional fees for examinations. When I went to pick her up from getting groomed, I noticed they did not bath her, or at the least brush her to get the cut fur off of her. This place is not willing to above and beyond for your pets. I will be looking for another vet in the future.
I took my cat in and they worked with my schedule. They diagnosed my cat correctly n quickly. Gave him some shots to start feeling better n medicine. thx docNew review. 4/10/2018Wanted to bring my new puppy to y’all. And use y’all as a vet,but you got some uneducated snobby women up front working. So no thx. I won’t recommend you either anymore.
Went twice. The first time went pretty smoothly as we just needed a shot. The second time we need a test done because we suspected our dog had a urinary tract infection. The test came back negative so the doctor prescribed a drug but couldnt tell us how it worked or what the active ingredient was.
My dog Dallas was very sick, cancer. The doctors and staff, were very kind, as this was a great loss to me and my family. They went above and beyond, to make losing him, easier on us. Thank you for all the notes and cards, you guys are the greatest! Special thanks to Tambree, and all her help! You will always be in our hearts.Michelle
I asked to simply buy a bag of saline for my parvo dog and like all the other clinics we have to see you before we can do that ( which means its gonna cost you $1,500 for a simple bag of saline. It also means putting everyone else pets at risk bringing him in because they wouldnt just simply help me by selling me what I need.) Its pathetic how people go into this field wanting to help animals and end up hating animals and loving money. Thats why i wont work in a vet clinic anymore. You all have lost your morals.
I cant thank this place enough right now! You took care of my Penelope when other places turned us away! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the meds and every ounce of knowledge in how to care for her wounds!!!! You will be our vet forever for our Penelope and our kitties as well! Thank you Thank you thank you!!!!! From a retired military family with a service animal in serious need... our whole family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!
I recommend Big Country Veterinary to any one who care about there four legged babys big are small my sister took her (puppy dog aka Little Britches )there to be treated and the Veterinary and there staff where so nice and took excellent care of her and now she back home running and playing .
Seeiously the best!!! They were the only ones that figured out chloe had an abnoral mass in her tummy instead of just doing trail and errror medications that didnt help! They founds the mass and sent a refferal to the emergency vet for my pups surgery! I cant thank them enough
Last time I was in, the ac had gone out on half the building. Rather than have the animals uncomfortable, they made accommodations to use only the other half. While that mean I needed to hold one dog and had an awkward swap for the second, Im glad they put the animals first.
Our dog Knox caught parvo hes a Chihuahua and started showing signs of it on Sunday 12/30/18 I called first thing Monday morning and Crystal made me appointment right away we took a man right away they verified it was parvo we couldnt afford to leave him there so they gave us a home treatment with the medicationhes doing great today hes got his energy back his appetites back hes playful hes loving hes carrying and is just wonderful thank you very much for saving our dog

2022-02-16On 2/14 Our sweet boxer, Daisy, had surgery to remove several tumors. The staff and Dr. Archie were very compassionate and professional in explaining the procedure and costs involved. They even recommended a health care credit card to help us with the cost. My husband was very apprehensive as Daisy is never without us but the office updated us on her recovery and even called during her procedure when they discovered another issue. The were also very paitent when we had some concerns post surgery and got back to us in a timely manner to answer any questionsAs a honest review I will mention a item that can be improvedWe were told to be there 30 mins before her appointment to get her checked in yet no one answered the phone until almost 8. Not a huge issue for us but could be for others with tighter schedules

2022-02-27I went to Big Country Vet for the first time yesterday. I must say I just Love Them. Everyone was so Sweet to Me and My Oscar. Seemed truly concerned about my Baby. Asked me to call and give them a report on Monday and let Dr. Walker know how he’s doing. I’ll definitely keep going to them for sure. Anyone that gives My Baby the attention they did and the Love they showed him get a BIG 10 Plus from me. I suggest if you need your pet taken care of give them a call. They will definitely Give Your Pet the Best Care. Thank You Big Country Vet. You Rock !!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

2022-06-16We have used Big Country Vet Clinic for several years, and they have always been really amazing! They’re very dedicated about taking care of our cat and dog.We unexpectedly needed to board our cat and dog for several weeks, and everywhere we called was booked up. We called Big Country Vet and they were so accommodating! They worked with us, and were able to take both our cat and our dog on short notice. We’re so grateful for their gracious assistance! We highly recommend them!

2022-04-08Strange Set up. Stay in your car, they come and get your pet. SO Non-personal. They may and may not get your check in TEXT, when you follow their instructions. I prefer an office visit I can actually talk to the people in charge, in person.

2022-07-09Had an appt at 2:30pm and by like 2:35pm they came out to get us. At first I was hesitant about the “check in and wait from the car” thing, but I realized how seamless it made the process. No dogs barking at each other and getting hair everywhere in the waiting room. The entire parking lot was full, yet they moved so quickly and efficiently. The tech and vet were both super friendly. By far the cleanest, nicest vet I’ve ever been to!

2022-07-13I had my first visit with my feline bestie when she started acting oddly and pawing at her mouth. From the phone call to schedule the appointment to interacting with the Tech to the discussion with Dr. Walker about a surgical treatment plan, I was greeted with kindness and everyone was friendly and caring. The experience was great and I look forward to establishing a long relationship for continued care of my furry friend.

2021-08-26I trust Dr. U, for surgery on my stray pup I rescued in San Antonio...he did surgery on her right knee and it has been great. She has started having issues with the left knee. Doc could have just done surgery but he advised against for now and to watch her movements. Great, honest Animal focused care. We had someone tell us to go to a Vet an hour away for low cost but my mutt deserves the best!!!

2021-07-23We are traveling across country and our 14 year old pug developed a cough. WE called and explained how Molly was and they said bring her in. Our vet tech Lindsey was fabulous!! I am hearing impaired and she took the time to speak clearly and explain what we needed to do..Dr walker is a diamond! She also took the time to explain Molly’s needs. I so wish I had a vet service like this in San Antonio!!! Thank you BIG COUNTRY VETERINARY CLINIC!!

2021-06-21We came to know Big Country after a stray puppy adopted us last month. She was near death, but we could tell she was dumped after becoming ill. The team was AMAZING and patient as we navigated a world we arent familiar with. Our girl had treatment for Parvo AND for an obstruction that was probably the reason she was dumped.A month later, our new furbaby is thriving, energetic, and enjoying a new life. We are enjoying our pair of dogs becoming a pack and have Big Country to thank. From the check in staff, to the tech teams, and the Vets, we are wowed! The pictures show where she is at today vs. the day we came to meet her!
