Our Zoey got porcupine quills in her face. We brought her to here to get these removed. First off, I loved that they open as 7am, this was so great for me. Secondly, they got her in quickly and sedated her to get them out. This is what we wanted. Lastly but the best, the whole staff and doctor was amazing. We are do thankful to them in helping out our pup.
After being told I should put my elderly pup to sleep and there was nothing else that could be done, I called here for a second opinion. Thank God! They got me in the next day and re did the testing. She was fine and after some medication changes she is doing great. They saved Lucy’s life and even though I know the time to say goodbye is on the horizon, I am eternally grateful for the time we have left with her.
They are always professional and treat Sarge and Sadie Jo with care. The whole staff great with my pups. Sarge and Sadie Jo are always happy to see the staff at Big Spring Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. When they enter they are happy and when the leave they are happy.
Very good veterinarian great knowledgeable staff. Same clinic had to put my Whitey dog down she was seizing & cancer had taken over & I am so thankful to the doctor & his assistant they handled me & my baby with up most respect & had her asleep not hurting any more very quickly also left room so I could have time with my baby & gather myself & asked if I would bury her at home or if they were taking care of her I said I am taking her home they put her in a bag for me & carried her to my car for me & a month later I received a sympathy card in mail signed by all there staff stating that they were so sorry for the loss of my Whitey dog . there prices are not high & veterinary is young but very knowledgeable. This story was the 2nd visit he was going to remove her tumor but it was a different veterinarian than one that is there at present time. He is no longer a part of this establishment. (they left my dog in a cage for 4 1/2 hours with a huge rot barking & growling at her the entire time shes terrified & the tech walks up does not say anything to my dog & sticks her hand in cage to grab her not one word my dog bit her it was her own fault but the Dr. Wanted to put my dog in gas chamber for her biting tech honestly wanted to kill my dog I had to pick up my 50 lb dog & carry her to car she couldnt walk they blew vien in left arm then did same thing on right side & I was very angry with Dr. He was yelling at whitey bad dog bad dog bad bad dog you know what we do with bad dogs ??? We give them 50% gas & that was it I picked her up carried her to car it was terrible.
The facility was well run, very professional, and caring. Our sweet baby, Sissy, was taken in because she was sick over Christmas. Within 30 minutes a diagnosis was made concerning a inflamed gallbladder. She was scheduled for surgery the next morning. The staff went over estimated cost, and kept us apprised of her progress.Today, we brought our sweet baby home with meds, special diet, and instructions. We were very pleased with Dr. Hurwitz and his knowledgeable staff. We will certainly take our baby back for the exceptional care given.
Check-in was fast, the vet techs were very sweet and courteous. The vet himself was kind and reassuring, I felt he listened to my concerns and explained my options thoroughly. The cost was practical,I got more than my moneys worth. We will be taking all of our pets back again.
Just had a VERY disappointing experience with this clinic. On Jan. 18, I asked for an estimate of how much the spaying of my 20lbs dog would be. They printed and handed me an estimate saying it would be $221.56. A little more expensive than most places, but we were willing to pay. They didn’t ask me to sign anything, they just handed me the paper and told me the estimate. I scheduled my dog’s surgery for Feb. 28 and when I went to pick her up, they charged me $283.37. At the time I did not have the estimate paper with me so I just went ahead and paid. When I got home I realized the huge difference in price so I immediately called. They said “We’re sorry, our computer must have had a glitch, but the right price IS $283.37 and NOT the amount on the estimate.” They also told me that my dog did not have to have any type of special care/nothing went wrong that would have caused this $60 increase. Given that I was promised a certain price for the surgery I went back to get those $60 refunded. When I got there one of the receptionist was clearly upset that I had requested for this refund because “I did not sign the original estimate paper and they were only issuing this as a one time thing” like they were doing me a favor. That same receptionist was the one who gave me the estimate on Jan. 18 and she NEVER asked me to sign anything because I obviously would have. I do not work there, I do not know their policies, if they don’t ask me to sign, I am not going to sign. I was promised a price and that’s the price I am going to pay given that there were NO additional services done to my dog.I would also like to mention that my boyfriend went in there the same day to ask for the refund (they couldn’t give it to him because I had the card we used to pay) but they didn’t even mention anything about the estimate paper not being signed and did not seem upset which is kind of disappointing because clearly they felt comfortable blaming me for not signing the estimate and being kind of rude because I am a woman. I do not plan on going back, but if I ever have to, I’ll make sure to bring my boyfriend with me so they don’t try to pull anything on me.
Terrible place!Took my 3 mini dash hounds for shots a few days , they all 3 got sick took them in this morning they tested them and said they now have parvo, said there’s nothing they can do without $1100 upfront. And that they more than likely can’t be saved. All they care about is money, not about the animal itself!
We aren’t from the area and our dog was experiencing an emergency. This was the closest location and they took very good care of us. The whole staff was friendly and thoughtful. Dr made sure to run all necessary tests to rule out anything severe so we could continue on our travels with a peace of mind.
I was anxious for my 1st vet visit since I had a 60 lbs dog. The girls helped me with him & my smaller dog & helped me feel less nervous. Dr made sure he answered all my questions before leaving the room. The bill wasnt too expensive especially since I needed medicine for my bigger one. I left feeling I had a great experience.
Wow. Wow. Wow. I live in Midland and will be driving to big spring from now on to see Dr. Hurwitz and his amazingly friendly staff. I’ve never been so happy leaving a vets office. Our appointment was for 10 am. We were in a room and our pups where taken back by 10:01 am. They openly invited me to watch as they worked on our pups and gave me a tour of their beautiful and very open establishment. My fur babies and I will only be coming here for now on.
I called about my cat that was seen there before. I needed some information on him about his shots and things . And they said they didn’t have anything but an empty file. And I really needed to know about his fiv. shots. So I don’t think their very capable of their work.
HUGE thank you to the folks at Big Spring Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Had an emergent situation with one of my babies and Dr. Hurwitz and his awesome vet tech took such good care of us after hours. I wish I would have got her name because she was beyond sweet. They fixed my baby up within an hour. 10/10 recommended these guys!!!
Very friendly and respectful staff that treats your pets as well as you would. Appointments or ER care accepted. Bring your pets in a kennel or leash as they have a policy to make sure possible illnesses does not spread. Willing to negotiate treatments with you before they take action so you dont get surprised. They do require a $200 deposit if its a ER visit, but will refund you whats not used. ER survival rates seem to be very high, but they arent miracle workers, so dont expect the impossible.Best vets Ive been to. Will be returning when vaccines are needed.
I absolutely love this clinic! My 3 cats are always getting into something, or are in need of routine care. Sierra always gets us an appointment that works with my schedule, and their rates are very affordable. Whether it’s routine vaccinations, or surgery, we always get great care quickly and cost effectively.
They’re awesome on cost!!! The service was great, the staff was great and down to earth. They also fit me in a busy schedule on the same day. I’m very picky when it comes to veterinaries. I am very pleased with Big Springs Diagnostics Hospital. Thank you for all you have done!
Ive been taking my cats and dogs to Dr. Holt since he took over Sierra Animal Hospital. He is knowledgeable and thorough with his exams. He will do lab testing when he feels it is necessary to determine an illness. The facility is always clean. The staff is polite, caring and professional. Ive been to other vets in town, but I like Dr. Holts practice the best. I highly recommend Dr. Holt.
They saved my momma cat,Rue. She was having her 2nd litter and delivered half of her uterus n was bleeding to death. We found out that she hadnt delivered a Very large kitten. She pushed so hard she delivered half of her insides. She left her new born kittens and laid in the bed with me to die. Thats when I woke up n rushed her to BSVDC. One of the girls rushed home n got her cat 2 give Rue a blood transfusion. She responded immediately to the transfusion n they preformed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding, remove the rest of her uterus. And now she is the best Momma ever. I would like to Thank. EVERYONE for all of their help n dedication to saving my tiny girl who means so much to me my husband and mother-in-law. Much love to all the staff n Dr. Hancock. I believe they have her story on their Facebook. Again n again THANK YOU!!!!
On one of the very worst days a pet owner can have, the staff here helped me with kindness and compassion. I’m so thankful I chose this business. From the first to the last days of a loved pets life, these are the people to see. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Called a couple times. They were very disorganized, they disconnected on me twice and never called back. We paid more than what we were initially told to have our dog spayed and when we came to the office to pay, they had to even take off charges that were not suppose to have been made in the first place. I was very loyal to Sierra Animal Clinic until today. They just lost our business.
Terrible and very unprofessional. My dog is 8months old and has Tapeworms and they prescribed him the completely wrong medication and it didn’t have a label on it so if he had an allergic reaction I wouldn’t know how to handle it because there was not label and it could’ve also killed him. The blonde lady up there is very mean to the animals. When I arrived, on my first and last visit, she came out of a room that had a whimpering dog in it and she yelled out “that dog won’t Shut the #### up!” Very mean, rude and unprofessional. It was very hard for me to not lose my mind when she took my dog back there to get his stitches taken out because I don’t want that kind of person anywhere near him. Do Not Come Here!!!!!
I give them a 1 only because they gave me antibiotics for our dog. 3 mos. Ago he hadear infection the dr. Said his ear needed to be flushed and it was goin to cost 932.00 they got the cost down to 6 something we still couldnt afford it and they do not do payment plans and have no program to help if you need assistances with the bill. thank the lord we got it cleared up by using green tea. Im sure the antibiotic s helped as well the poor guy has another infection in the other ear. I called the vet and ask if i could get some more antibiotics. They tell me no it has to be flushed. WHAT we will get some more green tea and pray that it works without the antibiotics i dont no what to think and thoughts i do have bout the clinics arent very good
Seriously disappointed over the lack of concern for a four legged friend. Called in to get an appointment for the family dog who is suffering from severe allergies and has hot spots on the backs of her legs and tail. After being informed of her open sores, the hospital has no appointments until next week. She is suffering today and needs help. She will continue to do damage to herself and could possibly suffer from infection from her open sores. Please be more caring of other’s pets when informed of suffering. We will not be darkening your doorstep again.
Its not like it use to be when I used this place but they did good and they put but dig asleep. I was a little scared though becuz it took her 2 days to actually get back to herself which scared me and told me she was a little over sedated but she is ok and they helped her .
We were told by them our dog needed his gallbladder removed costing $2000. We decided to get a second opinion. When my husband told her he was going to get a second opinion he eyes about popped out of her head and she was trying to change her diagnosis!!! Gallbladders being removed is NOT COMMON!!! Get another opinion!!!! All out dog needed was a diet change!!!!!
This place is a rip off !!They would not see my 5 year old YorkieWith out giving her a parvo test. Then they told my wife that she had heartWorms they charged her almost $ 800.00We got home to our Vet he looked at whatThey did and scratched his head and toldMy wife that they did alot of unnecessaryStuff. Then our Vet checked our Maggie twice forHeart worms and she has no heart worms. This Clinic is a money hungry RIP OFF !!!I would not recommend it to anyone else.If you are from out of town they charge an exorbitant amount of money for unnecessaryStuff. I will not be Back and will not recommendThem to anyone.

Sierra Animal Clinic has a wonderful and pleasant staff. We had one of the saddest experiences that a pet owner has to deal with in having pet friend. The time we all dread. We had to make that choice while in Big Spring during a road trip to see family. Our friend of 12 years, Miloh, was dealing with advanced bone cancer. We knew this would be his last trip. Unfortunately his condition advanced very quickly within 2 days and we were faced with a 1300 mile drive back home or for him to rest now. He experience full paralyzes of his limbs and had difficulty with sleep. We knew the only thing to do.We scheduled a time with Dr. Holt. He and (dad) are very kind. Although this was a traumatic experience for us, they (and staff) put us at ease.We highly recommend Sierra Animal Clinic.
My dog was taken care of amazing people and my grandmother cousin took him for me since i recently moved out of town.. were very polite to my family and were not just out to take all of my money... when i get my other dog shipped he will go there for his moving check up also
I am NOT impressed with this vet whatsoever. What type of crazy vet would tell you that dogs only need to eat once every three days? The new short female vet is the one that states dogs eat once every three days in the wild, HAHAHA, yeah right DOC, my dog is not a wild animal and he damn sure does not eat the intestines of whatever he can kill just to get to the grains in there. Do I respect or trust you? nope not a chance
The short lady with the short gray hair is a a horrible vet she pretty much tells us everything we did wrong and no advice our 15 month old dog is pregnant and she says if they don’t die of parvo from not getting shots before she got pregnant to prevent the puppies from getting parvo (which I didn’t know was possible) then she might eat them or leave them out in the yard to die because she is so young. And I believe that’s not what vets are for. And people should not be expected to know howto be perfect the least she could of done was tell us how to improve on being better dog owners if we were so horrible
Our 20 year old Pom woke us up crying in pain. Took him in to see Dr. Holt first thing this morning fearing the worst. Thankfully Dr. Holt found it was just his back bothering him!! Most vets would tell you he is old and that would be the end. Dr. Holt and his staff were AMAZING!! Thank you so much for helping us and it not costing a fortune (which I would have gladly paid)!! Highly recommend Sierra Animal Clinic!!
Would give them less than 1star, since Vet Dr. Holt passed, took my little dog back for check up, the female (short blonde hair) was the crudest, hopefully whatever in life is so rotten to make her that way changes, she needs a different job, away from the public, shouldnt be around them if you cant act like a companionate person, or at least a a few manners, told her I feed my little dog organic range free chicken, her remark, so you feed them, chase them down, kill them and cook them for your dog, took a minute to realize she was being a sarcastic............., was like that the whole time with smug comments, finally just went and paid for no service and left, had enough snotty remarks, most of the rest of the staff in front made it look like it was their lounge area

2020-07-16I own an animal rescue located in Denver, CO and we went to the Big Spring Vet Diagnostic facility last week to vet some of the dogs we pulled from the local shelter. We were obviously exhausted and stressed finding out that the dogs we pulled needed to be treated and stay in medical boarding, but we felt such relief during and after our visit! Leslee and her team were fantastic and went above and beyond to help us with our dogs we rescued. I honestly can’t think of anyone better to have treated the dogs and been there for them through everything. The facility is gorgeous and extremely clean. It almost looks like something you’d see in a magazine. They have state of the art equipment and the clinic is almost like a “one stop shop” - you don’t need to travel all around town to find a clinic that does spaying, CT scans, or this or that - it’s all at their facility! The staff was extremely kind and attentive and took great care of the animals until I was able to bring them to our rescue in Colorado. I am so incredibly thankful and feel very lucky to have found such an amazing vet to partner with when helping dogs in Big Spring!❤️

2022-03-25This place is a joke! I brought my dog here last week for a ct scan. The doctor didnt even do a thorough physical/neurologic assessment with the dog despite the dogs history. Majority of the time, he was talking about his life story and his friends story, and less of whats going on with the dog. They did a ct scan, but not a whole body ct scan. We came without answers, and left without answers. Very frustrating! If you want a decent/superior CT scan, and a doctor that will care for your pets, bring them to Lubbock! The Dcotors there really cared and made us sure that we have answers. Our dog passed away days after I wasted my time with this veterinary hospital!

2021-12-18They were absolutely amazing! They were very upfront with the cost and suggested treatment on my puppy. I called at 7am and the saw us immediately. They cared for my pup and made a stressful situation a lot easier for me. A huge thank you to the vet tech who took such great care of Arlo! You can definitely tell the passion of both the veterinarians and their staff. Thank y’all again!

2021-11-10THE BEST OF THE BEST!Recently brought in my three rescues to get spayed and get their rabies shots and couldn’t be more pleased with our experience at this office. Our dogs are timid around strangers and very hesitant towards new and different environments that are outside of their normal routine. Everyone at the vets office was so welcoming , patient and loving towards our girls. Never have I ever seen our dogs take to someone so easily as they did with the techs and the rest of the staff. One of our dogs ended up having to go back in and they got us into see the vet in a very timely manner, helped her through her hiccup in the healing process and were so kind and attentive. The open lines of communication made asking questions, understanding procedures and aftercare very comforting and put us at ease. I could not recommend these people enough. We drive an hour to see them and I believe we have found a lifelong vet for all of our furry family members. If you are looking for someone to love and care for your pets as much as you do, this is the place to go.
