Their slogan Finding an apartment home in Brownsville, Texas has never been easier is interesting considering that of the 12 times Ive called them during operating hours (over the course of the past several weeks), theyve picked up 2 times. Theyve also failed to return about 3-4 voicemails I left them regarding being interested in renting over the course of those few weeks. Ive also left them about 3 e-mails regarding being interested in renting-- none have been responded to. The first received call (Received in Spanish but spoken in English-- I dont speak Spanish fluently) was prior to applying to their community, and so I was looking for information regarding the application process. I was provided none, and told that applications were accepted based on a raffle draw-type process at the beginning of each month (what?). Exact dates and procedures were omitted, and all responses to my questions were incredibly vague if not non-responses entirely. The tone of the conversation on their part was very impatient/rude despite only being asked simple, reasonable questions such as Do you have any vacancies currently, or coming up, etc. The best way to describe the conversation was as being one-sided: It was as if the person I was calling didnt work as a representative for Bowie Garden and was simply listening to my questions without comment. My second call with them was received in Spanish, and so I asked ¿Habla usted Inglés? (Do you speak English?), to which they responded with Hello? Hello? (In English) and proceeded to immediately hang up on me. I called back and received a similar treatment to my first call weeks earlier-- impatience/rudeness, lack of explanation on the application process, etc. I told them that I had applied to their community and they responded with that they had no vacancies, despite me seeing a vacancy they posted to their Facebook Marketplace the day prior for a 2/2. I asked them if I should follow up on my application or vacancies in the future or if they would reach out to me, and they told me that they would reach out (despite having applied to their community prior to them posting a vacancy for the 2/2 apartment and not having them reach out to me). Again, the conversation was extremely one-sided-- hardly anything was said on their part, no attempt at examining my application, no asking for my name or contact information, no asking what I was looking for in an apartment, etc. was made. Ive leased at several apartment complexes in the past and have spoken with dozens more over time, and Ive never experienced anything like my experience with Bowie Garden.
