We stay here every chance we get. We usually stay on the water, now i know why. They put us down where there was lots of barking dogs and loud kids .our spot was very dirty when we pulled in.not what I expected. I feel they need to clean them before another guest comes in . To many dogs barking constantly there was 1 spot in adult section that was still vacant when we left this morning. Why they didnt put us there i dont understand .But love the place.S.BECK
I was extremely disappointed by Buckhorn Lake Resort after reading so many stellar reviews. I had thought having an established business would provide better customer service skills and a value worth the cost. However, I was let down by the frequent trash scattered around the park, the apparent sewage issue/smell in the adult restrooms, broken washers/dryers, strange booking procedures, as well as the musical motorcoach game that was being played consistently during our stay. The park gets the majority of its business by booking rally groups every week/weekend. The dog park is often flooded during the middle of the day due to the sprinklers. The water quality isn’t great, so be prepared to go through filters. I’ve stayed at a few resorts across the country and this was the first time I’ve felt cheated, as it was quite pricey to not even be able to use the hot tub the first month after we arrived. We mentioned issues to the staff and they seemed to have little concern in general. It feels like they cater to certain guests. While I am understanding of how life can be in this current time, I don’t think we should lower the standards in general.
First time visiting Buckhorn and it was awesome. The grounds are well kept and manicured weekly. The amenities and pool were also well kept. The staff and other guests were nice and welcoming and make you wanna retire right then and there haha. Overall great experience cant wait to rebook amd revisit!
This is a beautiful RV park. We love the water sites so if you’re a Class A you pull straight in so you can overlook the river. And the hook ups are on the left side😃Nice workout room and pool and spa. Two laundry areas and a super nice outside bar area. We had good AT&T and Verizon signals
The fishing was fun for my husband and son but there were way too many snakes, they were aggressive too so they could’ve been water moccasins. We really enjoyed how beautiful this place was, our favorite campground so far. It was nice they give you a modem for just a $40 refundable deposit. The WiFi was ok. We loved having a spot near the pool and the office staff was always really nice. Their mail system is good and the other campers were really friendly. The playground is really old/rotting and probably a safety hazard and needs replaced.
Very well kept, clean park with fishing lake, pickleball courts and fitness facility. Concrete pad was very level and all hookups in one spot on a pedestal. Short drive to Kerrville offers great selection of restaurants, etc.. Great Hot tub and pool. Only drawback was sketchy WiFi while we were there.
Very nice place with clear water ponds and streams with fish, but because of catch and release the fish are too weary to catch with lures. Clean lots and easy hook ups all worked without a hitch. Staff was responsive and they are pet friendly, just have to pick up after your pet. Neighborhood nice everyone seemed welcoming.
This is easily among my favorite RV destinations in Texas! The park is very well kept, offering a variety of accommodations for all sizes of recreational vehicles, indoor and outdoor amenities, as well as an appealing venue for special events. Though weve only been a guest for short stays, its proximity to nearby shopping and dining would likely make this a very good place for longer visits as well. We look forward to our next visit to Buckhorn Lake, and I think most people who have been a guest there would likely tell you the same. Great place!
Beautiful RV resort. Only down side is the poor wifi that never worked for any of our devices. Last time we were here they had movie weekend in the barn theater but not this year which was disappointing. The slots are spacious and you dont feel crowded. Good service, grounds are kept impeccable, nice pool and hot tub. Definitely kid friendly.
I was just visiting some family folks who are staying there, so I dont have an extended experience to share. But what I did see of the resort was very nice and neat and well kept.We went in the hot tub by the pool, and it was obviously being very well maintained .. crystal clear water and no odors whatsoever.
Camped in a fifth wheel Rv, November 2020.We were assigned site 6080. The site was fairly level, front to back and side to side. The sites were spaced kinda close together, as to be expected in most private RV resorts. We have camped at Buckhorn many times over the years, participating in several owner group rallies as well as using the resort as a stopover on long trips.Navigating through the resort loops with our 13’ tall fifth wheel wasn’t too bad, though we had to weave and dodge tree limbs getting into and out of our pull through site.It is unfortunate that we pay hard earned dollars for daily camping fees, and yet the staff seems intent on not following through with basic maintenance, to be specific, trimming trees. Folks like myself, spend a lot of money on nice rigs. We take pride in our units, angered by low hanging lumber, scraping and gouging our units. We camp most often at state parks, expecting there to be occasional issues due to low staffing and funding, but Buckhorn is a private resort, charging higher camping fees. At a resort such as this, one would expect impeccable landscaping and manicured trees. Our camping neighbors were very friendly, some weekend locals and others from further away. The registration staff was very friendly, and registration was very professional and efficient. There were not lots of bugs at night. No mosquitoes that we noticed.Overall, our camping experience was good. The only negative, as I mentioned, were the low hanging branches getting into the site. Anyone with a fifth wheel or class A motor home needs to beware.Preselection of sites is not allowed; you get what they give you.
We stayed here for a few days during a break from our journey between southern Arizone and coastal Texas. The campground is located in a small valley between hills, and is bisected by a large creek. The full-time residents occupy the motorhome-only section of the park on the west side of the creek. Our campsite (6131) was in a special section on the east side that was adults-only (no one under 16 years old was allowed in that section). All the sites in our section had concrete pads that gave way to grass on the door side and gravel on the side with the power pedestal. The site in the middle of the loop (like ours) were pull-through, while the ones on the outside of the loop were pull-in sites rather than back-in sites (most of those were occupied by Class As). Our site was mostly level (our loop had a slight incline). A cable TV hookup was available, but we didn’t use it.This campground definitely earns the “resort” label. It has two swimming pools, a store in the office, an outdoor kitchen area with a smoker where they serve dinner to residents, an indoor activity room, a movie theatre area (we didn’t get to see it), and an adult fitness center with a small yoga area snd exercise equipment. Trash is picked up from your site at 10am each day (don’t miss that pickup window; we didn’t see any dumpsters for manually disposing of our trash), and you can sign up for propane delivery which occurs on Friday morning. They also have a small island in the middle of an artificial pond with a large gazebo and seating area (probably a wedding venue). It’s just a nice looking park overall. Some RV resorts are so tight that there’s little grass for dogs to walk on. Not so here: there was plenty of open grassy area to walk our dogs along both sides of the creek, and there is a huge fenced-in dog park on the west side of the creek. There are also plenty of dog “stations” around the park that provide dog waste bags and dog waste cans.In terms of cell service, the best speeds I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna during our stay was around 15Mbps down and 7Mbps up, but there were times, especially during the evening, where the connection was slow and congested. I used the campground WiFi one evening to upload another campground review. Didn’t do a speedtest, but it wasn’t much faster than the sluggish Verizon connection. The one speed test I performed on my AT&T phone showed 45Mbps down and 25Mbps up (I was getting close to my data cap for tethering for the month so I tried not to use it as a hotspot).
Spent 4th of July weekend here. I love the campsites since it rained several days we werent walking in mud since the sites have nice gravel and cement. The whole park is very clean. Two swimming pools, one for adults and one for children. Everyone walks their dogs & are very friendly. I must say, they have the best fireworks shows I have ever been to. The kids loved the in park parade where they dressed up golf carts & bikes. Necklaces & candy thrown to the kids. There was a lot keeping you busy & to do, & there was a lot we didnt get a chance to do. We loved the park & will go back again.
This used to be our favorite place to stay on our trips out west, but our most recent stay has changed that.First, none of the staff were wearing state mandated face coverings, hand sanitizer was nowhere to be seen, AND there was trash (a half empty drink cup sitting on the table) in our site when we arrived. Also, since they have decided to force their political views on the customers who support them, we WILL NOT return. We felt very unwelcome, and will spend our money elsewhere, and suggest you do the same.
Clean, pristine, country store, old town setting throughout. Antique Windmill operating in traffic circle as you enter. Well maintained lawns and concrete sites. Small lake rivulet for ducks (but not too many - so not a nuisance thing) and fishing. The country store doesnt carry a lot is the only drawback, but I believe you can probably find enough to carry you over until you get to town. Wonderful staff.Separate area where people have bought property and have little homelets with parking for their RV alongside.Worth a visit. We always stop there on our way to and from California and Texas. Be sure to call them ahead of time if you want your RV washed and waxed - they have a contact that does that regularly there and the price is reasonable.
Really no other rating is fit for this place. It scores a 10 on staff, cleanliness and just all around great place. This time we had a couple old farts on their motor cycles racking their pipes acting like teenagers really unnecessary.Yes we tell everyone about this place.Basically none better.Retired Chef Gene
Easy off freeway and easy on. Park was very well kept. A great dog park area with plenty of shade and a large fenced area. Concrete runways for trailers tables for each spot. It is well worth stopping for. The internet password did not work for us. But we did not really need it.
Always a nice park to visit. Sites are level and spaced well. They would benefit from adjusting their check out and check in times so they arent the same. Giving a one or two hour break between would help eliminate issues with newcomers stalking your spot and verbally abusing you for not vacating it quickly enough to suit them. (We had set up a late check out which apparently wasnt marked down on the books). Hopefully this wont be an issue on our next trip.
We had our FROG RALLY RV GROUP gathering here for the past 5 years. It is a perfect facility for entertainment. Their food is delicious & the staff are fanrastic. Bathrooms / laundry area are clean. Two pool areas. I highly recommend a stay here. It is also located in an area that gives access to many winery & towns for sightseeing.
Beautiful park with full hookups and all the amenities full service parks offer. We could only stay a couple nights but would like to stop here again for a longer visit the grounds are immaculate with paved roads and concrete pads this is a park that we recommend highly.
Excellent rv park. Daily rates are very reasonable. Park is very very nice. They are putting the money back into the park in maintenance and upkeep. This is definitely an rv resort but with non resort daily rates. If your passing through. Stop here and add a few extra days to your stay. Well worth a few more days of rest and relaxation here. They have activities planned almost daily as well. This is one of the best rv parks I have ever stayed in.People in the office are also very nice.
Repeat guest w/ 35 TT. A great rally location in the Texas Hill country. Long and level sites (except backed up to raised perimeter burm areas.) Great party/rally room and restroom facilities. Reasonable price. Many other parks charge same or more for lower quality park and fewer amenities (Buckhorn has 36+ channel cable, daily curbside trash pickup, and very wide sites). Will visit again.
Great Rv park. This was our first time to visit this area. The staff is some of the best and so helpful. We will put this RV Resort in our book as a keeper. The Rv Pads our huge and spacious. We made life long friends. Nice laundry room. The WIFI is not so great and making phone calls. This is not a T-Mobile area and all our calls went to voice mail. There are so many good places to visit and eat in this area. There is a little noise from 1-10, but not bad. There are activities to keep you busy. There is a fully stocked general store if you need anything! Also there is ice available. This park gets full durning winter. We are coming back in April.
You wont find a better park in much of the United States. Especially for $48 per night. My words cant do it justice. Only drawbacks are the noise from I10 and the wifi IP address is all screwed up. However, youre 20 minutes from Fredericksburg, 40 from Sea World, 75 from the Alamo, and 100 from the San Marcos outlets. Its all set in the hills of Texas and worth every cent. The spots are flat, spacious, and well maintained. There are two pools, fishing, trails, and planned activities. Youre gonna love staying here!
Nestled in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Buckhorn Lake is a diamond in the rough. This our second visit here, the staff is wonderful. Best place for planned socials. Near Kerrville, Fredericksburg and Comfort. Great places to walk and shop. Definitely should be on your bucket list if your RVing in Texas.

2022-05-22Beautiful clean park with spacious concrete pads, clean pool, bath & showers. We stayed in the adult only section which provided a patio set vs a picnic table. The store is well stocked with essentials and non-essentials at reasonable prices. Staff is very hospitable and friendly. We will certainly place this resort on our return list!

2022-05-27If youre looking for a place to have a party or rally this is a good choice. If you want a quite relaxing weekend keep looking. This place is neat and clean but unless youre in the adult only area its basically a trailer park, 5:30am youll hear the diesel trucks fired up to get to work. Evening will find dogs, kids on scooters and bicycles and remote-control cars racing up and down the street. Theres no playground so the kids living here need someplace to play. So if you dont mind the occasional ball bouncing off the side of your coach this might be the place for you. Ill look elseware.

2022-03-25This is a beautiful, clean park. Our site was very large with a nice patio set. Its a huge park and the laundry room was quite far from our site, but thats not a deal breaker for us. The only issue we had were the dates. They had us coming in a week later than what I booked. Unfortunately were werent able to stay for the 3 nights that we had planned. We had to leave after 2 nights, as our spot was spoken for. We would love to come back again and spend more time.

2022-03-30Beautiful RV Resort with 2 pools, Recreation building, some events every week. 5 Star resort and staff. It is easy on and off hwy 10 but you do get traffic noise on all lots. We stop here for 4 to 7 days every year. Lots of things to see in the area. Lots full service on concrete pad. You will not be disappointed.

2022-03-25Beautiful, well manicured facility. Everybody waved as we toured the park. Made reservations for 10/23 through 3/24. If they had a space available big enough for us, Id be driving there right now.

2022-03-15We got our wires crossed and tried to check-in at the wrong RV Park. The staff was very friendly and patient with us as we worked through the issue. After twenty+ minutes we finally discovered it was we that were in error for our park reservation. The staff was nice and courteous the entire time of our confusion. Went far out of their way to help us our true destination. KUDOS!

2021-11-19Owners rude and decide who they will be friendly to and who they will not. Sometimes when you become so successful you forget how you got there. Save your money and find a place you will be welcomed and your business appreciated.
