SKITTLES was the waitress. Messed up Bill so badly.I was billed 70.00 then85.00 and now a week later my credit card billed 95.00!!!2 dine in 1 to go..No one has returned my repeated calls. Says a Nicki Kerr GM has been told. This ridiculous. What next...Called credit card had to cancel it to stop these charges. Very unhappy to have to go to this extreme and inconvenience over some lousy service and a waitress that couldnt get the bill correct. This is the last time I will go eat at Candlelight Inn. No food is worth this inconvenience.
Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Our waitress, Skittles, was very kind which counts for the entirety of the 2 stars. Food wise, bland is the right word. Everything was piping hot coming out of the kitchen, but lacked taste and didn’t taste fresh. Candlelight Inn was recommended to us and I’m sad to say our visit was disappointing.
This a place to come for the atmosphere. Food is not mediocre at best. Our server was super sweet and attentive to our needs.Steak and shrimp had no flavor and guacamole is made with italian dressing. Salad is shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes, nothing else. The chips and salsa were the best part of the meal and baked potato was LOADED! Loved that.
Theres not much bad to say about a restaurant Ive been going to since birth, and my father has been going to since childhood. This place is rooted in Arlington and steeped in legacy, a beloved treasure of generations. I preface this with acknowledgment that it is absolutely a family standby, but also Im giving it an honest, fully transparent review. I got a Cobb salad with salmon on top. Candlelight Inn is one of the only places that I can go to and consistently get grilled salmon delivered so consistently and deliciously. Add that to the fresh, hearty, delicious ingredients of the salad and you leave me very, very happy. I could relive this night a thousand times. Salsa is also on point. Pro-tip: if you order guac, ask for Nachos guacamole, for the good stuff (thats a guys name, not a dish). And whatever you do, dont forget the praline. Go Tuesday for live music.
I ordered the hot chicken Alfredo, not realizing it had cilantro, I unfortunately cannot eat cilantro. When they asked about it and saw me picking all the cilantro off, they asked if there was a problem oh, when I told them about the cilantro. And they went back and remade it for me with no cilantro in it. It was one of the best chicken Alfredos Ive ever eaten.
Great atmosphere. Kind of quiet today..I like the Tex-Mex here. Expansive menu, so should please everyone. Booths have candlelight and mini jukeboxes. Not sure if the jukebox works, as we couldnt seem to make it work. Food comes out pretty quick and piping hot. Chips and Salsa are good. They do have live music on occasion.
Our family absolutely loves this restaurant. So many good times & memories have been made here sharing a laugh and a meal together. The staff is always thoughtful & hardworking to make our dinging experience extra special. They deck the halls for the holidays & really make an effort to make everyone feel right at home.If you’re looking for that place where everybody knows your name & always glad you came, this is the place you are most welcomed.
I waited over 10 minutes to be seated, and then after I was seated waited another 15 minutes to hopefully have my order taken, which never did happen. I gave up and left. The bad part was they were not busy at all!!! Cant say anything about the food, never got that far🤔
My family and I have been coming to eat here for over 20 years almost once every week and it use to be our favorite restaurant. Lately over the past few months it is now one of our most hated due to the new management. They are never open to eat inside or available for to go orders due to all types of excuses. If there is even a random small event going on at the cowboys stadium or Texas live they are closed on the weekend due to “ the events” which is only due to them using their parking lot to charge a lot of money for parking. We have called daily for over a week just to be told they are closed for some random situation. We will do everything we can to make sure Grand Prairie friends will stop wasting their time and gas to even attempt to eat there anymore.
I love the Candlelite Inn! Its one of my favorite restaurants ever, and I always get to go there whenever Im in Arlington. The variety and quality of food is fantastic. I love their classic guacamole and chips, and every entree Ive had there has been great. Tonight I had the Mexican Meat Salad. Tasty and on the lighter side. Dont miss their from-scratch cakes for dessert. Phenomenal hospitality and service too.
We tried this for the 1st time. In the parking, it smelled like we were gonna ne in for a treat! The staff is real nice. The alcohol drinks were watered down & the food needed more seasoning. My wife had the grilled chicken, but it wasnt seasoned & the garlic bread had no garlic.Im the picture, my wife added the tomatoes & seasoning. I ate the everything burrito. It had EVERYTHING, but a big burrito in it! There was more lettuce, cheese & tomatoes on it than there was a burrito. The burrito was filled with more refried beans than beef. Nice little place, but this will be our only time visiting.
I started going to this place while I was a student at UTA in 1972. I dont know how many burritos I have eaten, but they are the best ! I love the atmosphere, the cold beer and memories of my many visits to the Candlelight Inn ! We try to stop by each time we are in the area !
As I was gobbling down a delicious plate of cheese enchiladas and waitress refilled my tea set it down on a knife that was on the table and it spilled all over me and my enchiladas within five minutes I had a brand-new steaming plate of enchiladas in front of me the mess was cleaned up and the manager gave me a free dinner for two and this lovely t-shirt. Overall it was a really good experience because they worked really hard went way out of their way to make it right after the tragic loss of my first plate of enchiladas.
This is a restaurant that we found almost by mistake. We lived in Arlington and wanted a different place to eat. We drove by and almost didnt stop in. We had the best meal amd have been returning for almost 40 years. When they remodeled it we kept wondering how long they were going to be closed. So glad when it reopened. Hsve brought all of our family from Ohio to enjoy the food when they are in town.
What can I say about Candlelight Inn? I have been coming here for 30 some odd years. I have missed it a ton when I’d randomly drive by and they were gone for however long they were.Well I found myself in Arlington today and gave them a call. “We’re open!” That was all it took. I came in for lunch by myself. I was greeted by a a sweet and funny women and sat in my own booth. I ordered my long lost usual Tacos Al Carbon and it was a total stroll down memory lane. My server Lawrence was extremely nice, attentive, and quick.Towards the end of my meal I overheard him taking the order of some parents with a little boy in the next booth over and he was very sweet with him. It made me realize that there will be a whole new generation that grows up to love this place as much as I did/do.I will be back with my sister and father just like old times and before you know it. Thank you for everything Candlelight Inn!
Its hard for me to be objective. Candlelite Inn has been around since (or maybe before) I was in High School. I graduated in 1978! I love to go occasionally for nostalgia. Food is pretty good, varied menu, and portions are generous. The staff are extremely friendly. Its a warm, welcoming eatery. Not a place youll rave about but a place you will likely return to. I havent had one in years but the burritos were enormous. Plus the mural is fun.
Great food, atmosphere and service! We love the menu because it offers our family a diverse selection of great choices. My son loves their steak and spaghetti, my spouse likes their salads and I always struggle making up my mind, as everything I have had there is delicious! I have been visiting this restaurant since I was a teenager, their pizza is really good and they are still using the same recipes from the past. Tuesdays they have live music!
Went Saturday night for dinner. Extremely slow service. It took 20 minutes for my husband to get his side salad. Another 20 minutes for our dinner. Good was not good. Pizza tasted like old dough and not cooked long enough. It took so long to get it we didnt want to send it back. Spaghetti with meatball had odd taste. We couldnt eat the food. So disappointedbecause I used to eat there a lot.
An Arlington Institution! This place has been here since the 50s for a reason - great and varied menu and super friendly service! My mother says the guacamole is the best in the WORLD, and she eats a lot of guacamole! HAHA! Outstanding margaritas and super cold beers, too. Dont forget to grab a piece of cake or pie to take with you - they are home made by the managers grandmother and are delicious!
Update (because i will continue to give it a chance): dined here with family Sunday night. Had a nice experience, though it was very quiet inside (they close awful early on Sunday). Had the pizza again, still not cooked enough for my taste, or another family member who described his as doughy in the middle but good enough to enjoy.Old review below (2019)Oh this hurts. My family and i have been loyal customers for a very long time. I even worked there for Bill in the early 90s and ate there every day. Its not gone bad by any means, Im just touchy about a place i love this much so Im being pickier than usual. The remodel was something that needed to happen, i get that. In many ways its better for it and they were respectful of the history to an extent. One thing that didnt survive the change was the metal trays that pizza was served on. The new owners opted for a traditional China plate which admittedly looks better. It also helps the lifespan of the tablecloths. The old ones were red and white checked vinyl and would warp from the heat of the pizza plates. The problem is that those metal plates continue to cook the food as well. In the last couple years Ive had three pizzas come out that were raw in the middle, just gooey dough that was inedible. Each time i made due with it and when it did come up the server quickly removed it from the check.Other items have been slightly altered, some as if the food supplier may have changed or a cook left with a recipe. Not sure.Lastly, the reliance on live music rather than the old jukebox. Times change, i get it. I have never visited a restaurant to hear live music though and this seems so tone deaf to include it here. Its a very small space and depending on where you sit conversation with your family might not be an option.
I had never even heard about this place. And its a shame on Ever Step foot in Texas again to be able to enjoy this restaurant. It had an intimate, relaxing and beautiful feel. The food was absolutely Divine. And a service staff was so friendly and great. Thank you for making my last dinner in Texas so fantastic as far as taste, temperature and ambiance of your restaurant.
Waitress was nice. But the food took a long time to arrive. I ordered sausage pizza with mushrooms. The mushrooms were RAW. Apparently thats the way it is served. They add them after they cook the pizza. I picked them off. I prefer my mushrooms to be cooked. Just my personal preference. I will still go there and eat, I just wont order mushrooms on my pizza!
Sad,sad day I have been going to this restaurant for 62 years. Food and service always terrific. Today cold potato, warm gristle filled steak. I wanted to share with the manager how disappointed the food was,she said very flippant sorry. All my old mainstays are gone😥😥😥
I know this place has been around a long time. This was my first experience here. We had a large group in the party room. The employees were very polite. Wait staff was attentive. We had the chicken and beef enchiladas, and they tasted okay. My wife and my daughter both found a hair in their food. The queso tasted old and the guacamole was too salty.I normally like nostalgic locations and enjoy the old school feel. This place left a bit to be desired.I wouldnt recommend going here and will probably not go back. It is in need of a major renovation.
Great little historical place. Misty, our waitress was very sweet and took good care of us for our anniversary dinner. The Mexican food tastes like it should, just right. The fried pickles were great and whatever the heck the green sauce they serve with them is awesome! The pork chops were good too. We will be back to try more of what they offer!
A very special place that holds precious memories. Love it even more with the updates that the new owner has made. Also, Larry is the best server! Hes very friendly, knows the area and is a great waiter overall he made the evening even more special. Hats off to The Candlelight Inn!
Per the waitress manager drank all the Miller lite. Ordered fajitas had to ask for tortillas and cheese apparently not normally served with these. Waitress sat in both instead of checking on us in a timely fashion. This place will probably close their doors within this year. Needs to be closed. Sad really I loved this place back when.
Nice little establishment. Prices have increased since the last time I went (many, many years ago), but to be expected. My BBQ chicken salad was drowning in dressing. I wish they wouldve let me put my own dressing on the salad instead of doing it for me. Nonetheless the salad was tasty. Kids loved the pizza. One kid had a hot dog, wrapped in a tortilla, which was a little odd, but she enjoyed it. Overrall good food, just a little on the higher priced side.
We ate there last night. The chips and salsa are outstanding. The food was excellent and a good price. I had the fettuccini alfredo with grilled chicken. It was very good in my opinion better than olive garden. The owners came out and spoke with the tables and thanked us for coming. But the crowning jewel was our server or as she said you can call me misty or skittles or dinner Ill come to any of those. If you havent been you need to go. If you have go again. You wont be sorry.
I was attending a conference today at the Arlington Convention Center, so I decided to try a restaurant that had been a favorite of mine 25 years ago, when I lived in Arlington. I had heard it had changed hands, and some people had given it mediocre reviews, so I was hopeful it would be somewhat like it had been. I was so pleasantly surprised that it looked very similar, if not cleaner, and the food was fantastic! It was still dark and cozy and charming, but I love that about the place.I had the Philly Cheese-steak and fries with the horseradish mayo on the side. The sandwich was delicious. The fries were delicious. The sauce was delicious. My waiter was friendly and on the spot to make sure I had everything that I needed. The iced tea was good, as well. The next time I am in Arlington, TX, I will go back. Try this place!
Food was old and nasty, rude service the whole time even more since only one other table was there then Nikki decided she didn’t like her tip and wanted to chase me out the door to complain and then accuse me of doing it all the time. Even more sad since I haven’t been there in over a year! My family has been coming here over 40+ years and now we won’t be back due to this poor service! I would not recommend anyone to come here anymore as as staff has gone downhill and getting desperate enough to chase you out the door for even more money.
I have loved this place since I was a kid. We havent been in a while because of COVID, but went today. Staff all wore masks, sanitized everything and practiced distancing between tables. And the food was as good as it always is. Im a huge fan of the guacamole. Thank you for a great, safe experience!
So I just wrote a complete review and I lost at the very end. Not doing that again. Ill keep it simple. I have loved this place for over 40 years but after dinner last night, our horrible experience, the horrible food, (even though I have eaten the same thing for 40 years. As has my entire family not any of our food was edible. Except the spaghetti. My combo burrito had no beef. And was Luke warm at best. The service was clueless and our food was just the worst. I hate to do this as I feel my favorite restaurant has fallen victim to bad employees. But there was no manager last night either so go figure. I wont be going back.... Ill make campo Verde my go to Arlington restaurant moving forward. Sad sad day
Love this place! Our family has been coming here for over 35 yrs. Theres a little something for everyone. One of my staples is the guacamole and I love the Verde salsa, which is basically diced pickled jalapeños and carrots and the Everything Nachos... Yum. Ive really never had anything that wasnt tasty! Oh and the schooners are super cold!
My wife and I went to the candlelight inn for the first time for our 25th anniversary and was very pleased with the food and the service. The manager Daryl made sure our order was correct and took a minute to say hello and was super nice. Our waitress Nancy was very attentive to our needs and gave outstanding service to me and my wife. We both had the fillets which are aged 28 days and wrapped in bacon which was very delicious. To my surprise the baked potato was deep fried and was also very delicious. This place has a very romantic atmosphere and I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Great hidden gem for any hungry soul, especially Cowboy or Ranger fans as it is close to the stadium and ballpark. The menu is diverse but my favorite is the pizza. They also have great Mexican food. If you like it hot, ask for their “green sauce” and add it to their salsa or queso to spice things up !
This place is an institution! Dont know what cuisine you feel like tonight? Get yourself to the Candlelite! Seriously, if you cant find anything on the menu that interests you... youre not really hungry...Specialties are the Italian favs and the steaks. The standard Mexican dishes are great as well. Seafood too.SUPER crazy REASONABLE pricesAnd then theres the staff... attentive, sweet, on top of the things. 5 🌟Close to ALL the fun things on ArlingtonGo! And if youre disappointed, then you werent really hungry
I hadn’t been there since the remodel. I used to go there a few times a week. From the mid 70’s to the early 90’s, Mary was so nice. Great food and service. It now has great bathroom. But when they did the remodel they took out the service and the quality. Driving through today I thought I would go by for lunch. All they got right was the drink order. I didn’t order the chalupas with beans and ground beef, but thats what he served. An overcooked steak, with cold stale garlic toast. The waiter taking away plates that were still full of food had no questions, just commented “done with this” grabbed it and walked away. I wonder if the lack of a tip surprised him. It was never like this in the past, but they do have a nice bathroom. So if you are in Arlington needing a restroom this is the place, if your hungry look elsewhere.
Its been about a year since my last visit to this restaurant but my daughter requested it for her birthday lunch. You just cant bring back the original Candlelite. The food isnt horrible but its certainly not great. Took forever to get our food even though they werent busy. The waitress took our order, delivered the order and never returned. I had to go to the register to request our check. The atmosphere is good but the waitstaff needs some work.
My husband recently gathered several of his high school classmates & their spouses here for dinner and a mini-reunion, and we all had a GREAT time!! We were seated in a private room, which was wonderful for visiting without disturbing other patrons. The menu gave us LOTS of good options, and each of us was pleased with our food, drinks, AND the great service!! We HIGHLY recommend the Candlelite Inn Restaurant!! ❤️
I honestly dont understand why people think this place is so great?? Back in the day it was delicious. Ive given Candlelight Inn 3 tries. Im not going back. Greasy Mexican food. I could have made better with a package of ground beef and a packet of Old El Paso seasoning mix.Once I ordered chicken, it was so try I could barely cut it. It was like dust. They made me another piece and it was perfect.
Generations of my family have been going here its awesome and makes a really special night out. Mom used to tell me her family took her as a kid all the way from ft worth to check out this new menu item pizza and they were customers for life, now I take my kid , the juke boxes at the tables and cozy booths are awesome and the staff is super attentive.20 out of 10 would recommend
The food used to be great. Now it is very lacking. We had a party of 10 and the server never filled the drinks unless we asked. We sent back food when it came out to get something else because it tasted horrible. Second food came out (totally different choice from first) and it was nasty too. Three of my family were sick before we even got home. :( very sad since it used to be a great place to eat.
The experience overall was fine. No complaints really about the staff. The food is gross, though. I assume that people like it b/c its insanely cheap. I wasnt impressed at all - tasted like cafeteria food/processed/canned food. I would NOT recommend it to people who like freshly made food. I would recommend it if youre looking for a fast/cheap meal.
(Review initially posted in 2014)My first time dining here was with my friend Carolyn for my birthday in August 2014. I passed by this restaurant for many years and never knew it was there. I had the best experience, enjoyed the best smothered sirloin steak, loaded baked potato, salad and a birthday dessert. Nancy was our server and she made sure it was a great first experience and birthday dinner! To this day, Carolyn and and I celebrated our birthdays at Candlelite Inn every year through 2019 with Nancy as our server the majority of the time. Everyone should experience the great food and service at Candlelite Inn!! Thank You Nancy!Editing my review 10/2020 because 2020 is the first year in the past 6 years Carolyn & I didnt dine in for our birthdays. My son took me to Candlelite Inn on my birthday but due to the pandemic, I opted for take-out. I still enjoyed my favorite birthday meal prepared just the way I like it, by one of my favorite restaurants! Thank you all for your consistent excellent service & food!
Was there constantly when we worked just up the rode(Milltronics). We Always sat in Johnnies section. She knew what we wanted to eat. Sure do Miss her and Jo(I think thats her name). She was Always at the front counter. I have been there a few times since they reopened. Typically get Chopped Steak. The first couple of times it was dry and didnt care for it, but I did eat the baked potato. Went a couple of weeks ago and it was the best Chopped Steak Ive had in Awhile.
Ive been going here since I can remember. I love this place. The menu is large and is great with a group with different flavors in mind. Food is your normal homestyle just many different cuisines. Always clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. Just your causal dining experience.
ABSOLUTE horrible service! And the food was prepared VERY poorly (burnt) and there guacamole is like avocado mixed with Italian dressing? Nasty stuff. I Actually ordered something with toast since its on there sign! it was hard as a rock and inedible. I knocked it on the table to get a few laughs and it worked so yeah that place is a joke.
Loved. Loved. Loved.Food was GREAT, service was a tad lousy but thats understandable just not professional. However, still HIGHLY recommended to those who havent tried and i WILL be back. Nice setting, food is prepared nicely and theres such a variety to choose from. (BEST guacamole Ive had btw)
Nice little place. I had there spaghetti which was good. My dad had there chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. Mine was hot but he said his was cold. He didnt send it back cause the day we went it started to rain really bad and the water started to come through the doors in the party room and the lights went out. But i would go back again
I use to visit this place at least once a year since 1997. Unfortunately, this last visit was somewhat disappointing food wise. Since the remodeling, it appears the food quality has diminished. The salsa tasted like ketchup and the cheese for the dips and enchiladas was cheap quality. The ambience was still pleasant, but the food is below average for the price.
Candlelite is an established Arlington tradition. In business since the 1950s, it still looks very much like it always has, despite having been completely revamped in the recent past. The food is dependably good, service is quick, efficient, and friendly, and the atmosphere? Well, imagine a dark, quiet, secluded place where you feel like you are the only customers in the place, even if it is full. And the bars motto creating frostbit fingers since 1957 may very well be true. They do serve cold beer. Definitely worth a visit. I just wont try to go on game day again because traffic in the area can be a bit...tangled.
Our service was good at first, then the manager got into an argument with our waitress IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. He told her she was done for the day, it took 20 minutes for the staff to realize our order still had not been entered in their system, and only after we asked. We were finally assigned another server and the food was less than expected.
A large group of friends went to Candlelite Inn for dinner last week. We needed several tables put together so we could all sit together. We arrived early, having been told they do NOT make reservations. Upon arriving we were informed that they would NOT put tables together in order to accommodate a large party.. yet there were several large groups already seated at tables that WERE put together. Not digging this place so much. We will find a more friendly establishment in the future!
Went in not paying attention to the time and said my wife was coming in a minute. Hostess informed me they close at 2.i was in just before 2 so think I was ok an it seamed they didnt want serve me an it upset so I guess it was the manager that came over told not to say that. I GET to the table and now the waiter telling me they close at 2. I left,The candlelit in we grew up on is Gone yall.
Place was nasty. Only decent part of my meal was the steak. Guacamole has a weird texture and doesnt taste of avocadoes. Place was so dark you could barely make out the menu. Salad was literally the shredded lettuce you put on tacos with dressing on the side given to you in a ketchup dispenser. Fajitas were dry and tasteless. I do not recommend anyone waste their money or time here.
Greeted was friendly, was clean, chips and salsa good. Husband and I went for date night, first time in 25 years being there. Both ordered chicken parmesen, the chicken was fantastic but the spaghetti was way over cooked. Asked server for a different side of any kind. Server brought out more overcooked spaghetti. Thinking server had no other choice tipped server well. Greeter asked how it was as we left and I responded I did not enjoy it and most likely would not return. Then she asked if I would like to speak to manager. Found out our server was acting manager. She stated main cook does not work on Monday nights and her solution was to come back and make sure thier main cook was there next time. I am very disappointed and upset! 😞
The food was really good and plentiful the service was some what crabby and a bit rude it seems like she didnt want to be there and we had a group of 10. The sad thing is we are normally very good tippers. Tonight it was 15% because I dont like being RUDE IN RETURN. 20% PLUS IS THE NORM.
Very cool place. Wait staff is friendly and gives off a youre family kind of vibe, and every table has an old timey wall juke box. Food is great with a huge selection, place is relatively dark with a lot of seating options so awesome for a date and still really nice for a family get-together.
Service was good. Everyone was polite and nice, however the food was TERRIBLE!!! I got the grilled chicken burrito with the cheese sauce and EW. The queso tasted like the cheese you get from a stadium to go with your pretzel, but only like it had been sitting in a damp old box for 10 years. My boyfriend got the chicken parmigiana and the meat sauce on the spaghetti noodles was gross. Didnt taste like real meat at all. Given all the good ratings Im guessing maybe the other food they have is good? Id just say stay away from the pasta and burritos.
The service was awful but the food was delicious. I first got the chopped steak, but refused to eat it after I seen it was a plain burger patty. I gave the club steak a try after almost leaving, and was it good!! Went front no rating to a 3 star restaurant. I Will be back, only for the club steak tho.
My 93 old grandmother fell and and the ambulance took her. The floor was slippery. Do you know all they were doing is making sure we dont sneak out. Like who does that. I will never go to that place. No apologies at all. Yes they was even making sure they got the money from my grandma.
I decided to take my husband here for dinner to celebrate fathers day, the only good thing about or experience was our waitress Summer H. (Five star waitress at a one star restaurant) we order the guacamole as our appetizer, what they brought us was like a tasteless avocado sauce. i ask the waitress if we could trade it for queso, and she did so with a very good attitude. the queso tasted burnt, so we did not have an appetizer. We order combination fajitas for our main course, every where else that i have order fajitas they have came out sizzling here the came out like they had been put under a heat lamp for 15 minutes, not only that they tasted horrible. needless to say i am very unhappy with my experience and will not be back. As long as i remember The Candle Light inn has been a staple in our town, and i believe that they should be held to a much higher standard then they are currently operating at. My advice to Summer would be find another restaurant that is up to your standard, because she is much better then this restaurant is...
Omg, I wanted a good salad. I picked the chefs salad. Big mistake. They must have bags of shredded lettuce. Ive never seen so much shredded lettuce. It had I piece of onion on top. Then diced tomatoes, looked like lunch meat in top. Enough shredded lettuce to make 10 tacos. Then my grandson ordered cheese pizza. I think they queso for the Chase. My pizza was the every thing. I couldnt choke it down . The waitress was awesome. She took the pizzas off the ticket. I would be scared to try anything else. My parents went there 50 years ago on their first date. Bless their heart.
Okay so we ( me & two friends) decided to try this place tonight, mainly off of google reviews & being right by our house. First off they are understaffed. Our waitress took a nice amount of time getting our drinks from the bar & we even had ask another waitress for chips & salsa. We ordered our appetizer and ordered our plates. Literally took 40+ mins for our dinner & all 3 plates were cold (chicken parm, steak & philly cheese steak). We ended up walking out & just paying for our drinks & appetizer. Crazy thing is they were barely packed when we arrived & then the concert crowd came in and had a line out the door.. The waitress excuse said they were short staffed & thst was why our food was messed up
Our family loves going to Candlelite Inn as often as we can. Price is as reasonable as most. We always have friendly service, and at least for our tastebuds the food is great! As all places a few times something has been off with the food, but theyve happily taken it back, and redone or switched to another item accordingly.
My youngest son plays guitar and this place lets him and other Guitar Center students come in and do recitals on a Sunday afternoon about once a quarter. I really love that they do that... But Ive been there a bunch of times for lunch... it was the go-to place for me and my buddy for many many years.
1 star because no option for 1/4 star. My advice to anyone putting a to go order In. DO NOT!!!! Every Saturday we place a to go order at 11:00am for 6-8 people. We work at a assembly plant and can’t go back to get the rest of the food you shorted us. The last 3 weeks you have gotten my order right once. I how hard is it to do 3 fajita tacos with rice and beans? Today you doubled up on the rice. No beans. 2 weeks ago. Ordered same thing. You gave me chicken and you guessed it no beans. No happy at all. Chris (GM)
I stopped into this place because I used to go there as a child and wanted some nostalgia. I was dining alone and ordered a chicken enchilada dinner and after more than 20 minutes I just got up and left. There was only a handful of people in the whole place. Oh well I didnt let it ruin my night
The place was packed, Valentine day, they were slow to buss tables, but really trying their best. Mexican steak is what Laretta had, very tender, about the best Mexican steak I ever had. I had enchilada plate 1 chicken, sour cream, 1 beef very good. Qeso on the beef, wanted chilli sauce, other than that very good. Salsa different from most, but very good. Ice tea was freshly made. They had a bunch of deserts in the case displayed, did not try, too full, brough half of my meal home, but the deserts looked delicious.
We came to Candlelite Inn on a gloomy afternoon today to enjoy Veterans Day! As a veteran I don’t get off to relax and celebrate Veterans Day much, however today was amazing. Karlene was our waitress and she was amazing!! She took great care of us and was upbeat and happy and made us feel right at home!! Thank you to Karlene and Candlelite Inn for another wonderful lunch and dining experience!!! Semper Fi!
The food was bad. And not just bad but falsely labeled. Im not sure where many of these reviewers were eating but I can only guess that they are either lying or have no sense of taste. So, we arrive at the Candlelite Inn and the first thing that struck me was how dark it was. I suppose they were going for some form of atmosphere but the decor is ancient, the booths claustrophobic, and it just put us at a general sense of unease. The hostess and waitress were pleasant enough and we were seated and given drinks without a fuss. Then I opened the menu and I knew we should have left right then and there. The cuisine was a mix of their version of Italian and Tex-Mex. There was also an insert for yet another style of food they were serving but I forget what it was. This is not a good thing for a restaurant to do. But, we had a Groupon so even if the meal was bad wed gotten a discount; right?I ordered the chicken parmesan which came with a salad and a vinaigrette dressing. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas. While we waited for the food we were served chips and salsa. Even though the told us the chips were freshly cooked they had a very stale texture to them. The salsa flavorless and bland.Soon, the salad arrived; red flag number two. The salad was shredded lettuce, a few cubes of tomato, and a few shreds of what I guess was cheddar cheese. The dressing came in a hair dresser bottle instead of tossed on the salad. With dread I shook the dressing, squirted it on, and tasted it. It wasnt horrible. Needed salt and more herbs but it wasnt too bad. I started to have a glimmer of hope that the meal would be decent or at least edible. After another short wait the entrees were served. Now, any idiot knows that chicken parmesan contains a minimum of two ingredients; chicken and parmesan cheese. This was not the case. Their version was a dried, grilled (not breaded and fried) chicken breast that looks like it came strait from Costco, was nuked for 45 seconds, and thrown on the plate. Next, a kind of spicy red, tomato-like sauce was placed on the breast and the spaghetti. Finally, a slice of cheap provolone topped the dish. I had two bites and gave up. The flavor was wretched, the texture horrid, and the chicken managed to be dry even with the tomato-like sauce helping it out.Out of morbid curiosity I tasted my wifes dish of chicken enchiladas with cheese sauce. The sauce was flavorless, the tortillas were flavorless, and the chicken was oddly colored and dry. There was simply no taste to be had except some horrid after taste. It wasnt strong but it stopped my wife after three bites and me after only one. Now, when we went to pay the waitress informed us she needed a manager to accept the groupon. The manager came up, asked us how the meal was, and seemed genuinely shocked when I explained how horrid it was. To her credit she did not give us a hard time, was very polite the whole way through my complaint, and comped us the meal considering we only ate roughly six bites of it.Bottom line; this was the worst sit down restaurant Ive ever been to. I have never had to give up on a meal before. Save your money and go somewhere the food is actually either edible or they know how to prepare whatever they are serving; preferably both.
I visited with my office for a work party. I have dietary restrictions, and was nervous to make it work with the menu focusing in Mexican and Italian foods. (Corn and pasta are a no-go for me) To my surprise, they serve vegan options!Vegan option was rice, sweet potato, and steamed broccoli, cauliflour, and carrots.I was able to have the chicken from the catered Buffett, green beans, and the sweet potato. Wait staff was super kind to answer my questions and welcomed all of our complicated orders.Ill gladly be back to support this business. Thanks!
For the first time in over 50 years, our visit to Candelite was extremely disappointing. I hope they dont start messing with tried and true recipes as they have worked for so many years. I even asked our waitress if there was a new chef. Cheese tasted old, meat in taco WAY too spicy and tortillas for the chalupa were soggy. It made me very sad as its always our go to place when in Arlington...now Im not so sure. Please fix it Candelite!!!!!
I grew up in Arlington and literally cut my teeth on the food at Candlelite Inn and have continued to revisit thru the years. I am a firm believer in the Moto if its not broke, dont fix it..... Since its been sold and remodeled and a new menu added I have to say that the place is just not the same ! I was very disappointed when I tasted the now generic guacamole dip without the slice of onion and green olive all the way to the Mexican Taco Dinner Plate ! The meat tasted like A greasy soy meat product. Although the service was excellent as always, I cant say the same for the food or the prices. So sad to see a true Arlington Iconic Staple fall apart. It wasnt broke...... It is now ! I will not be back. Thank god we still have Campo Verde !!!!!
Been here 3 times and I can say I dont really want to go again. Food is okay but mostly bland. The last time we went service was horrible and they ended up comping the meal for all 7 of us. Tables came in after and got there food long before we got our order taken and before some of us got our drinks. Would not recommend.
So very glad when Candlelite Inn reopened a few years back. Many memories eating there from 60s, 70s, and 80s. For this original Texan from Arlington, food tastes the same as it did back then - Good stuff! Thanks for reopening and for staying true to the originwl menus.
Alright so I showed up to this swarm thing. The food was edible honestly could have made it better myself. It was literally a bun with meat and that yellow cheese and a lot of lettuce, but the owner said it him self he said “I don’t know how to run a restaurant”. In a Facebook live. Anyway they give the tex-mex food a bad rep.
Omg this is the ultimate place to go to if everyone wants something different they have american, mexican, italian and so on. The food was good and with it being romantic atmosphere its a great place to take that special someone to. It can be a little pricey depending on what you get.

2022-06-10Eaten here for years, at least 2-3 times a month. Food great, big variety, daily specials etc. Would run into the owner of my company etc. Today, due to recent stomach issues I just wanted something bland and I ordered the kids mac and cheese. Was immediately told NO, only 12 and under. (Due to my issues I have NEVER been told I could not order off the kids menu at other restaurants)! The hostess always recognizes us (this waitress I have never seen before). I asked for a larger portion and I would pay more. She left and came back, telling me I could order two. I agreed and said to pack one to go. My in restaurant one was a good sized portion and I only ate half of it. I get back to work and take the lid off the to-go container (which was almost the same size of the restaurant bowl...just a tiny bit smaller). See the picture and how there is a very small amount in this cup. I called and the manager said they come in packets and she would talk to the kitchen. After hearing that, I personally think they made ONE packet, filled my restaurant bowl and put the remainder in the to-go. MEANWHILE, charging me 2 x $7.99 for the two orders and a tip. Total rip off! I was offered to come back for a replacement but, I am going to pass and never return. Was suggested to let my owner know so, he can decide if he wants to continue to support such an establishment that treats their customers like that. Especially regulars! Good luck and will miss ya. You are close by and always a good go-to for a good meal.

2022-04-12Cute little place in the heart of Arlington near AT&T Stadium. They have been around for a very long time. I remember going there as a child. The food is not bad but it is the experience of eating at one of the citys oldest restaurants that makes it worth going to.

2022-05-02We miss the good ol days. Noticed the prices have gone up dramatically and my wifes steak was tough. The waitress was great, she brought out a birthday card and a praline for my wife.
