Brought in our vehicle for a short inspection, they verified that information was accurate and offered us the exact amount. Signed the paperwork, were done with the entire experience in less than 90 minutes. Would definitely recommend to others!
Honestly makes car selling something to actually look forward to. The past 13 months I’ve sold 2 of my cars. Both times I received astonishing offers well over blue book and anybody else in the area. Toast, James and Kris all made my experience great! I was in and out in 30 minutes each for both vehicles. Stop hesitating and come on down!!!!
Overall a pretty easy car buying experience...We dont live in Denton so we did most everything over the phone beforehand. They had the vehicle we wanted and it was ready to go at the price we were quoted. The ONLY downside is that the customer service reps over the phone have no idea how to set up the customers expectations for the day of purchase. Several things had to be re-done or what have you that day and we were expecting more of an in and out kind of deal. Otherwise a good experience.
Carmax is very busy so get ready to wait a little bit. It might have been because it was Saturday but they do some business. They are nice and helpful. We went in to sell a vehicle and the experience went very well. They offered much more than other dealerships. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to sell.
Review is not related to car- it’s fine.We bought a car last July from Tracy. While we were taking a picture with the car Tracy told us we could go get the car detailed up to $250 and we could present the receipts and be reimbursed. So that’s exactly what we did! I took the car a few weeks later and got it detailed for $220. I emailed the receipt to Tracy, she said she would forward them, and I heard nothing for few weeks. I reach back out, I get no response from her and I’ve actually called her extension several times over the last year and never had her answer. I have reached out to others at this location including Phil and Whitney and another manager- I’m blanking on his name.I’ve called corporate, and each and every time I’ve been told the issue is being fixed and my check is on the way. Last time I reached out was a few weeks ago to Phil and I emailed the receipt and he never responded. I’ve given up on my $220, (which I did not have extra to spend) just thought I should let anyone know that they should not accept anything “extra” from these people because they do not follow through on their end.
Denton location, spoke with Toast, was an overall great experience. Ended up driving to Irving location. Called ahead, was beat up by old salesman ways. Terrible CS. Once inside, we were told there was a 2 hour wait. Unacceptable!Greeter was helpful and tried to accommodate us. Beau was our salesman, super kind and helpful. Restroom was at the very back down the back hall then down another hall. Weird. Definably go see Beau.
I have purchased several cars through Carmax and I have never been disappointed. Some argue that I could save money by going to a place that will let you haggle the price but I disagree. I will never again buy a car that way. Carmax stands behind the car, quick approvals and you are in and out in 1/2 hour. 👍. I also recommend selling your car to them. I received a better price for my car than other dealerships offered.
Nice place, nice people, and nice cars, but do not buy their GAP coverage. Its a scam and they will make up any excuse to not cover you.When my car was wrecked, because of the insurances battling out of course I was assigned 25% of fault but CarMax used this as an excuse to not pay me anything of what I signed up for. And this was MONTHS after.Way to go CarMax! The insurance of the person that hit me treated me better than yall!
Not even a 1 star. Denton Carmax is the WORST car dealer location!Weve shopped at Carmax before and since we had great service and results from 2 other locations, 1 in Irving Tx and another in Fort Worth Tx, we mistakenly thought that all Carmax locations were just as great. WRONG! Denton-Carmax has terrible customer service, specifically management. We recently purchased truck that was listed to include running boards and Ariel, one of the sales managers, cut a deal for us to pay for half the cost but only up to $400. They told us we could not go to any other Carmax for any type of service even though it involved over an hour drive to be going back and forth.When we made the negotiations with salesman Israel, he was great so we completed the transaction, but they didnt wash the truck properly, especially the floor mats. The seats were left slimy and grimy-rush job. The outside of the truck was simply sprayed with water. They also failed to make note of our correct mailing address so OVER A MONTH LATER we STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE LICENSE PLATES.After we called to ask about them, they told us to wait until they received the lost plates then they would resend them to us! REALLY? Our paper plates will have long expired by then!!! Poor administration, operation, customer service, etc.This Denton location lacks in so many ways-JUST KEEP DRIVING! We would never recommend them to anyone.
A lot of miscommunication between the online rep, the salesman, and the store I worked with (Denton). Overall not worth the “convenience” of not going to a dealership, and they didn’t even clean the vehicle I had purchased. The 30 days to try the vehicle is very nice but the whole thing has left me wanting to return it due to how poor the experience was.
I am not sure where to begin. I reserved a car online, I then called to confirm and finish out financing since I was worried I would not qualify. I was approved and I asked the financier what documents do I need to sell my car, it is in my parents name. I was assured I could sell with a power of attorney and their IDs. I confirmed my appointment. I called again to make sure I had all I needed. I show up for my appointment and am told they cannot help me since they need my parents to come in person in order to sell the car. I was told and I quote, “the call center isn’t properly trained.” And that’s as it.I was irritated but continued to have my car evaluated for a final trade in value. After they did that the guy helping me told me to go while I waited for the final value of my car. It comes back all is well, my parents are able to drive an hour and half to come to the dealership at 6. I called back to the Denton location to verify if they come at this time, can I get the car. I was told yes as long as they were there by 7.They showed up and I was told that they cannot get the final buy out for my car since the banks were closed. Even though I had a 10 day buy out AND called to verify.So again, I wasn’t able to get my car. I asked if there was anything else I can do and was told no. We got the manager involved and she was able to push through a POA since my parents were present and I had to drive back to Dallas an hour away. I showed up the next morning to hopefully buy the new car. I was told that they actually verified the buy out amount with the bank online and I could have bought the car yesterday, waisted gas and time again.So I am signing the final paperwork and I was told that Carmax misspelled my middle name so they would have to re-run my credit. I said no way, the sales associate said that if I am declined, they would call the financing company and explain… like what? The sales associate helping me went back to his manager and they magically fixed it.So it goes through. I get the check for the remaining equity in my car, they put the WRONG address for my parents so I’ll have to go back to Denton to reissue the check.Also, they lied to me saying it could be endorsed to me and I can cash it. It’s incorrect. Wells Fargo (who carmax banks with) told me that will not work and they would reject it. Then, I get into my car and they did not fill up the gas tank after promising they would and you know it’s on the website. I took a photo and just left, as I was done with carmax.Oh I almost forgot! Even though the car was reserved and they knew I was coming back tomorrow to sign paperwork. They were showing the car. Sketch!I recommend running far, far away from the Denton location. They were sketchy from the get go, lied, wasted my time. There are a million other carmax locations that I imagine have better service than this one.
Very different than a tradition dealership,our 1st time using Carmax.Different is good 👍 our experience was positive from our trade to new purchase.The car needed a little cosmetic repair and we have an appt with service next week they said they would take care of our concerns and provide us with a loaner car not to be inconvenienced. So far Carmax has done fanominal.
Just got a car from them Monday june 13th...i did everything online and over the phone which was extremely easy and fast. Right when I got it home the AC started blowing hot air while idling. Then while sitting in the hot car trying to set up the Bluetooth and explore the features I find out the front camera doesnt work. After 10 minutes I found multiple major issues that the carmax employees couldnt find during their 12 hour car inspection SMH. I call Tuesday morning and am told theyll call me back to schedule an appointment that they are super busy and might not get me in till later this month.Update: Thursday morning I got the call and dropped off the car to be fixed. A bit inconvenient but I like the car so I want to keep it. Well see if they can turn this into a 5 start review.Update: u got a call Friday afternoon saying my car would be done. By 5 or 6I was asked if I could get my car from the mechanic down the street since the service center at carmax closes at 5. I did. Hoped into a lyft and picked up my car from the Christian Brothers Automotive. They were very nice and had great customer service. Now I finally have the car I should have had from the start.
Im giving this location 1 star for so many reasons. My husband and I purchased a car from this location in January 2022 and was called in 3 times to re-do the paperwork. We were originally financed through Carmax but right after our bank approved the car loan with a better APR so because we were within the time frame (3 days) we went back to have the car financed through our bank instead. Of course we were aware that some type of paperwork would need to be done but CARMAX did the paperwork incorrectly 3 times! The 1st time the paperwork had to be re-done is because Carmax put the loan in my husbands name and not the business name. The 2nd time the spelling of his name was incorrect so the paperwork had to be re-done again. The 3rd time the address needed to be corrected and also some more signatures from my husband needed to be signed. Now as of today we have a paper tag that expired as of the 19th and the guy I spoke with over the phone is telling me to drive the vehicle and if I get a ticket they will pay for it. Why would he even suggest that! Im just so over it! Why would I even put my self at risk! Not only would I get a ticket but my insurance would go up! How were they not aware that the paper tag on our truck was not expiring and already had this handled before hand, and most importantly why do we not have the plates yet. When I call and ask these questions all they can tell me is that they are working with the DMV. Okay, what does that mean? These guys act as if they just started selling cars and are still in training! I am never doing business with Carmax again! Oh, and another thing before we even signed paperwork for the truck we noticed that two of the tires were brand new and the other two were not. We ask if they would replace them with the same brand and they said yes. Not only did they not honor that but they said that if we purchased the tires and provided a receipt that we would be reimbursed. The two tires cost a little over $700 from Discount Tire which I provided a receipt and they come back and say well only pay up to $500. At this point we just said okay. Never again! Im going straight to the dealership from now on. These guys give Carmax a bad name.
My experience at Carmax Denton and their entire staff was five stars+ I ordered a vehicle from one of their locations and it arrived long before receiving the necessary docs on the car I was trading in. Carmax waited patiently until the process was completed and kept me informed along the way. Brian, Whitney and Tracy went above and beyond to take care of me.
I was pre approved online got there to get the car , I gave them my id and they sent me home in the car the next day they called and ran my credit 3 times in one day to only take the car back Bc I didn’t have a valid liscense I’m in the process of getting a replacement! The car also started messing up on me the same day ! They wasted my time and were very disrespectful! The lender told Richard to give me the car but he just went to every representative there to go against it ! My credit score has dropped tremendously and I will be opening an investigation for Ahmed and his location!
Got my offer and went to car max with my title told them every thing about the car I want to sell and after they looked at it they give different offer with some comment not making sense just to kill the price cause I told them I will sell it right away so don’t believe them they will do every thing to buy your car very cheap. Even after I showed them the carfax to tell them that you guys are not right on your report, but it’s ok I understand it’s Business
Went there today. Was tho for about 30-40 minutes. Walked around , walked inside, walked back outside, walked around again. Finally walked back inside. We decided to leave when no one approached us to help. Yes it was busy but saw employees just standing around. Need better customer service. Just saying.
The easiest process of selling my car. Gave me the most acceptable offer on my vheicle, tried few other places before car max overbid all of them and saved me from hussle dealing with private byers.Great job all around ,fast service .Lizzy was most polite and professional ,highly recommended this place.
Nat Cruz the general manager provided excellent service he went above and beyond a normal customer service manager he had the utmost professionalism and made sure that we were taken care of and felt like he truly cared about the customer service experience I gave him five stars and truly recommend this establishment.
Okay, here is my complaint and the reason for only two stars... We had set up an express pickup. We drove three hours to the location to pick our vehicle up. It took an hour of back and forth with the agent having computer issues to finish off the few remaining documents of which we had left. Then we were asked to e-sign our documents (on our phones) our other documents three times. Then once that was finally done, the sales guy pulled the truck up - which took him ten minutes to do, as he supposedly checked to make sure it was clean (it was not).When we drove away, the vehicle immediately begins dinging and giving an error message that the parking light was out. This is with their so-called inspection.WE (non-mechanics) figured out the issue and fixed it ourselves.So not a great experience. Not the worst but certainly not the best.
I have sold vehicles to Carmax in Plano with no issues....in and out with a check in hand. I went to Denton this time and it was a waste of a trip. Couldnt get a clear answer on a title issue - when we had an original title and with liens released and also with a lien release letter. The manager was less than helpful and basically said it is a Carmax rule to get another title. He offered no help. He just quoted the policy to us. We left and traded the car in for a new Chevy truck with no issues. Thanks for Nothing, Carmax of Denton !!!
I am so happy with my first experience with Carmax. Selling my car was so easy, I am still amazed of how they handled the process. I looked at Caravan, Autonation and other online sellers but none of them came close to what Carmax offered. The staff was very friendly, helpful and informative. I recommend Carmax to everyone.
Although I was pleased with the ultimate turn out of the deal, I first showed up to the dealership on Saturday at 5:00pm. I was quickly checked in and was getting my vehicle appraised. I was told the process shouldnt take more than 30 minutes to an hour. Of course these are estimated times by a live person. My online offer which was made 5 hours earlier through the website came back as $34,200. After the appraisal had been submitted the live agent at Carmax came back with an offer that was $1,200 less than originally offered online. This was not okay with me as the vehicle was in extremely great condition with zero flaws. One hour turned to two and by time I got to a sales person it was 7:00. When going through the selling process I was then told that there was 15 day pay off amount that needed to be confirmed by the bank. The sales person tried calling the bank and of course on a Saturday the banks and any after hours lines had been closed for several hours at this point. I had pay off balances with extra per diem rates for up to 10 days through my banking app, which unfortunately was not sufficient enough for them to purchase my vehicle. Once finding out the deal couldnt be made on Saturday evening at 7:15, I was told I needed to come back on Monday or within 7 days to get it finalized. Monday, I showed up at 11:25 and was finished with the selling process by 12:15. Over all I got more for the vehicle than what originally was purchased for and walked away with some extra funds for my next vehicle purchase.
Third time buying from carmax. As always, it was a very smooth process. Did almost everything over the phone. The truck is awesome. Had a small issue with it within the first week but they fixed the issue quickly (issue wasn’t their fault). I’ll keep buying from them. They always have a good selection and they don’t pressure you or waste your time.
It was as warm as my first purchase in Baltimore the sales person didnt explain the function of the vehicle I asked for max care didnt recieve it so I had to return my vehicle and go threw the process all over again sheesh ...... also Im unclear is this is protocol but I was asked to show my online banking info to verify my down payment was available 🤨 Ive never had to do that in the past very distasteful...... I will not make any future purchases with carmax in Denton😡😡😡😡
My initial experience was good, however, the experience since then has become poor. The night my daughter bought her car there was no one available to clean it so we were told to get it detailed and then send the receipt in for reimbursement. We did that on November 15th and have not heard back from the salesman that was sent to. On November 22nd I called back in and talked to the business office and sent the receipt to that person that night. Now I have not heard back from the business office either.
The whole process was pretty easy, was pleased that the online offer based on my input was consistent with appraised value actually offered when selling my car, and was pleased with the overall time the process took. It also helped that my sales guy was awesome and super friendly. Would definitely recommend CarMax to others.
Horrible business practices you can put any car on hold on the website for 0 dollars so if someone else goes to the lot to purchase that car they cant even though thery have the money to purchase the car that day if the person that put the car on hold miss the appointment they set they still will not let you purchase because they have contact the person that put the car on hold for.0 dollars the sale staff isnt any better tell will tell you hole we can cancel a transfer of a vehicle it might take a while but when the perchaser gets back see if they were able to stop a transfer nope the car is gone poor business practices
We had done an appraisal online to see what they would buy our truck for. When we got there, the girl who greeted us outside was a bit of a knob, think she needed a milkshake or a burger or something! 😁 (Later saw her get a snack out of the vending machine, so maybe her day got better!) I thought uh-oh, this may not go well. But then we were matched with a super nice, efficient kid named Israel. They came back with our offer that was identical to what we had gotten online, we accepted, and the whole process was smooth and easy!
I have purchased from CarMax at least 4 times now and will do it again! I really like my dealing with them since it is a No Haggle experience. There is no going back and forth to see what the manager will do or will not do. And you have 30 days to take your purchase back if it is not what you wanted after all. Who else does that??!!
I went online to get a quote on my vehicle and was given a estimated price then scheduled a appointment at 7pm I arrived on time. They test drove and checked out my car to be sure what I put online was correct. But due to close time at 8pm I had to come back next day 7pm again. When I came back they honored same quote that online gave and cut the check before 8pm close. I would recommend Carmax to anyone.
From start to finish our experience with Carmax selling my car and purchasing our used van was first class! I got $3K more for my car than I was offered at a nearby dealership and the selling process went so fast it blew my mind! We took a 24 hour test drive with the van and purchased it the next day. The whole process with Tracy’s help was smooth and zero pressure. We are thrilled with the van and are already recommending Carmax to everyone we talk to about our experience!Thanks Carmax! OK so about 2yrs ago I sold and bought 2 cars from this location and the experience was great, however this time was completely unacceptable.To start I went in last week to get a car transferred. I did the paperwork, the financing and paid the 200$ transfer fee. It took 6 days to get the car from San Antonio lot. Once I got back upto the lot to what I thought was turn in my paperwork and give my down payment, turned into a 5hr cluster f.All my paperwork wasnt saved so had to redo everything, my financing was declined after 6 days. The manager had to call the financial company so they could pull up the terms I was approved for 6 days ago then override the system so I could get what I was approved for. Also they will not accept any paperwork that wasnt printed from their computers, so even though I had paystub proof of residency and insurance they flat out refused it because it wasnt printed at the dealership. I will no longer buy or sell to Carmax again after this experience.As a token of apology for their mistakes on all my paperwork they could have at least returned the 200$ transfer fee.
Working with CarMax was very easy and painless. Much different than going to a dealership. There was no pressure and they actually brought 3 cars over from another CarMax in Ft. Worth so that I could look at those.I am very satisfied with my car and would recommend them to anyone wanting a pleasant experience with purchasing a new car.
I received info in a vehicle I was interested In and based on that info giving decided I would pay the transfer fee to have the car transferred from a different CarMax location, only to later find out (when signing the paperwork) that the car had a recall on the air bag that the air bag could possibly shoot glass at my face if deployed . So we called the maker of the vehicle to be put on the recall fix list but had I known that I would not have had the vehicle transferred I would instead have continued my search ! So after purchasing the car my air went out 3 days later and wile waiting 3 weeks for a part to come in for the air to be fix (in 100 degree temp) the power steering went out ! So when calling to express all my concerns was told they “CarMax” do not know the conditions of their cars when selling them so there was no way for them to know the vehicle was going to break down !! And that was my wonderful CarMax experience
Gave me a good deal on my trade and the price of the vehicle I bought was good, but their financing was the pits. They offered me a 9% APR and that was the best they could do. I have a good credit score and knew I could do better elsewhere. I ended up financing through my credit union with a 3.7% APR. Shop for your financing!!!
Went well minus the fact we shipped our car from carmax in Colorado and waited 3,days to see it and the car was filthy inside candy and chocolate on seats when I asked for it to be cleaned they did not have time sad when you pay 40k for a car and have to clean it yourself when itwas at dealership for 3,day suppose to be cleaned and checked for issues I think it just sat there and nothing done. At least the sales person was great and did all he could for us. I would give him 5 stars but the dealership it self needs to clean the cars
My daughters vehicle bit the dust on the freeway on a Friday afternoon. She found CarMax there on the service road and had the tow truck tow that vehicle to them. She test drove a couple of cars and picked one out. She could not believe that CarMax had a 48 hour test drive. Her SO decided to trade his vehicle and her car in. I had the title of her car still in my name.SO and I towed her vehicle to CarMax. CarMax, after getting appraisals offered a fair sum on both vehicles that following Monday. I sat in the dealership for six hours to just sign my title and a couple of pages.Everyone that I met was extremely helpful. I came away feeling that we had gotten the fairest trade.I will use CarMax for my next vehicle!!
First of all, the staff, starting with the manager Brian, onward to my salesman Faron were exceptional in understanding my needs and letting me get my wife in and out on our transaction, so she could get home to our fur babies. We took care of processing my trade-in and my purchase quickly and efficiently. This is the fifth car I’ve sold to CarMax and the fourth purchase. It is hard to believe, but the first interaction was VERY GOOD... and every one since has gotten better.Following that, and my new used vehicle had a check engine light on day two. Slightly concerning ....But Crystal immediately got to the work of scheduling me a loaner, getting my vehicle seen, and finding a simple purge valve blockage. She rotated and balanced my tires as well and kept me apprised of the status the whole way.If you are in the market to sell a vehicle or buy a used vehicle, I cannot say enough about how professional CarMax is. I will continue to buy and sell from them in the future and take those I love to do the same.Thank you CarMax!
The only good thing to say is at least they held the car I wanted. Wait times are almost an hour long even when you have an apt, though plenty of employees standing around. When you call that morning to request they call your bank for a pay off they don’t. They had the car I wanted on hold and I was still there for 4 hours. It was the most frustrating thing ever. I had to call my bank because the Guy helping me said he wasn’t getting through. Never using this Carmax again.
Had the best car experience I have ever had! They didn’t pressure you in to anything and went by what you wanted! They we’re very friendly and professional! On top of all they are #1 in the cleaning and keeping up with all the covid steps to keep people safe!! So happy with my new car! If you have problems with credit it is the place to go! We have to have a second car ASAP and they were they best place!
We had a great experience selling our old car and buying a new one here. The staff was super helpful and friendly! It was about as easy and painless an experience as we couldve ever hoped for. When our sons ready to buy his first car, this will be our first stop. Shout out to Brandon and Renee who were both great!
The very best car buying experience I’ve ever had. We made a request for a car on Sunday online. They had already had offers available for financing and we did most of the work online the next day on Monday. They accommodated the fact we couldn’t pick the car up for six nights as we live a ways away. When we showed up and no one had mentioned we were trading in our old car they were not irritated (at least i couldn’t tell anyway lol) that we messed with their obviously busy schedule. We got a very fair trade for our old vehicle. The whole staff was very friendly and not once was did I ever felt pushed to buy something else or if I wanted to walk away I bet that would have been fine too. I would definitely do business with them in the future! Thanks Carmax!
Clean dealership and helpful courteous staff with low waiting time in line. I didnt purchase a car but I did get a 20 minute test drive of my dreams. Their 24 hour test drive is only available to people who have existing comprehensive and collision insurance coverage.
Easiest car I have ever purchased. I had the financing arranged before I went to the Dealership.The only issues were 1- there was some paint touch up before I bought it and they did not tape off the car. I am having some difficulty getting the overspray off and 2- they are having trouble finding someone to tint the windows where I live.
Overall, it was the best car buying experience I ever had. Going in, I was the guy that thought I had my mind made up. But I had cars being shipped from out of state, from other counties, and from other cities. I even brought the car that I chose/purchased back before the seven day grace period. Test drove two more vehicles. Not once did I get a side eye, a “come on man”, or any sign of displeasure. Richard and the staff location went above and beyond. Truly a no hassle experience. Appreciate you CarMax.
I sold a car. Used your on line system. Was directed to dealership to complete deal after providing requested data getting online offer. They completed deal at the price given online. No Haggle. Wrote me a check on the spot. Done pretty quickly and even provided a ride home.
Shop elsewhere. Drove 2 plus hrs to view this car. When we got there the car max inspection hadn’t been done very carefully, vehicle’s rear tire had a huge screw in it. Pointed out to salesperson who quickly reported to service and stated it would be a short time to repair it and while we did the paperwork it would be completed. Waited another 1-1/2 hrs after the car purchase was complete to have a tire plugged. Day 2 found myself stranded due to a dead fob battery. Cars that only start via fob detection need new batteries at point of sale. Had to walk to replaced the battery. Should not be stranded after spending over 20k. Second fob they gave me is not programmed to vehicle or does not work at all. Let Carmax know of the issues the following Monday and asked to be contacted, they have not reached out. They do not follow Carmax Standard they speak so highly of nor follow up when issues are reported.
I was disappointed with my experience with Dom today. I went in hoping to test drive a couple of different models that I have done the research on as I plan to purchase in the coming weeks. Dom was immediately uninterested and took us out to see one vehicle. In the process he made some remarks about our in laws purchasing the car with us that were in bad taste, such as “must be nice to have rich in laws”. He turned the car on for us, did not offer to let us actually drive the car. He then said we were free to walk the lot but he was going back inside. We were disappointed by this experience as all past encounters with carmax have been wonderful. We’ll be purchasing elsewhere.

They really did make it so easy to look, get approved, and finish paperwork. However, I had to go back because they didnt have the inspection done. I work and have kids so time is not something I have very much of. Also, not even 3 weeks after buying, I already need an oil change. My dash light came on. They called me and said it had been done but the mileage they said it was done at, was 5k less than what it says now. I only drive to and from work so this is inconvenient. Sales staff has amazing customer service and they are so easy to work with. I will go back for sure.
Went in on a Saturday to get an estimate on my car, and it was a fast & easy process. Went back on Monday to go ahead and sell the car. This time Renee helped us and was super nice and explained everything in detail which my parents appreciated! Overall a 5 star experience!
*BUYER BEWARE*Shop at CarMax, they said. The CarMax business Slogan is BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF INTEGRITY, they said....It seems to me that the Carmax of Denton did not get the message.On Friday 4/30/21 I was contacted by Tiffany Pena with the Denton Location about my pre-approved loan for a car.After giving me two choices for vehicles I picked the older model vehicle with less mileage. We finalized my financing and Alex informed me I was approved I agreed to the BuyFromHome Delivery for a down payment of $850 with monthly payments of $276.70 monthly. I was told the car would be transferred from the Plano location to Denton after it was inspected.Around 12:59 pm, after my financing was chosen I was texted and told the walkaround came back all good! You will receive an email with the tracking info when the car ships out.I asked where I should send my proof of residence, income, and insurance. They sent me a link to upload my paperwork like Carvana. I was impressed with the efficiency at which the process was completed. At 6:18 pm I texted the number and informed the rep I would be sending the requested paperwork the next day. I was told they would setup the home delivery after the car arrived from PlanoThat afternoon and the next day I got my paperwork together and shopped for insurance.On 5/1/2021 at 8:45AM, I texted the same number to ask questions about insurance coverage. Then sent the documents in for review.On 5/2/21: I received a text that my vehicle has arrived to the Denton location. That they were working on getting it ready for you and noticed youre anticipating a home delivery! They asked for bank statements showing the deposit and also sent a new link for additional income I had declared. The rep claimed once it was uploaded we can finish the approval process and then move forward to scheduling your delivery. The information they require was private but well documented in my financial statements but this was not good enough:A rep named Matt called me about my additional income and we agreed to take it off finance application because apparently I did not need it. Matt informed me that he had to run my credit again to find out if I was approved. Of course I was approved again and (good news) I would be paying $3.00 less a month.Then things took a weird turn. Matt informed me that I would need to bring my original paystub with perforated edges or print them out of the dealership. I thought this was an odd request for a home delivery so I asked about it. This is where the entire experience went horrifically wrong. Matt informs me that he was not aware this was a home delivery. He placed me on hold to ask some questions and then came back apologizing and stating that they could deliver the vehicle the next day. I informed him that I would prefer the delivery be made on 5/8/21 which is my only day off. Matt informed me that this might be possible but the earliest could be the following Tuesday (he seriously said that) but then he said he would have the concierge department call me that afternoon to speak with me. I shared with Matt that the whole idea of my using their BuyFromHome service was not making me feel secure or confident in the purchase of the vehicle. He told me that he would try to rectify this error of miscommunication and mishandling. Right as I’m getting ready to work Joseph from their concierge department calls me and tells me that the delivery car they used is broken and may not be fixed till Tuesday. I’m offered the limited option of waiting for the delivery or Curbside pickup. Neither of which were convenient for me at all and their delivery vehicle breaking down is not the problem of the customer. I mentioned this to Joseph and his response was it wasn’t his problem either. He then informed me that he would have management call me the next day. I was starting to see a pattern.They do not follow up and wait last minute only to mislead you and then cancel when you involve their corporate office which Nat Cruz the manager did.This was a waste of time.
The staff was nice and the facilities were all nice and clean. The thing that annoyed me the most was that the van was dirty and unclean all over the inside, and they said they dont have the staff to detail clean it. They offered to let us get it detailed cleaned and just submit to them the bill, which is fine, but it just seems unprofessional to not have already done so. Also, they said it wasnt ready yet because we didnt have an appointment, WE DID. In fact WE PAID A $100 TO HAVE IT MOVED TO THAT LOCATION. THE LEAST YOU COULD HAVE DONE IS CLEANED IT. Another thing, the DVD players didnt work. Im honestly not mad at all over this. We told them and they fixed it. The man who came out to do it was fantastic, fast, and very professional.
The best car buying experience I have ever had! Derrick, our salesperson, was a pleasure to work with and there never seemed to be any pressure. In fact, all of the people at the Denton location went out of their way for us, and truly seemed excited that we were able to get the car my daughter really wanted through a transfer. We will definitely stop at CarMax for all of our future car shopping!
Very easy process, you can get more money out of your vehicle selling it privately but if you want to sell it fast and easy go to CarMax. They offered $2,000 more than some other dealerships. Tracy was incredible to deal with. They will even order you a free Lyft to get home after you sell you car to them.
Very unprofessional conflicting information. We went in to purchase a vehicle with a trade was told one thing after the other different sales person each time this facility is horrible with terrible customer service this car buying experience was not what I had in mine! They are not sales men they are untrained customer service representative
I had never used Carmax prior to this experience. I decided to sell my truck and scheduled an appointment to get an offer. I had no idea what to expect but was thoroughly impressed with how the entire situation was handled. Upon arrival, Kameron met me at the door and provided outstanding customer service throughout the process. The Carmax offer for my truck was highly competitive and I accepted their offer. The entire process took less than an hour and a half which far exceeded my expectations. They even offered me a ride home. This place was amazing. life gets tough sometimes and I really needed a car. I walked out with an amazing SUV 2 hours later and the woman was amazing as well. we did the financing on the phone as I drove there and I had already picked the vehicle out online. Recently sold my car to Carmax and had a great experience.About a week before, I called to bring in my car for appraisal. They were able to get me in the same day. I was happy to see they were taking the social distancing and disinfecting very seriously, and they even provided masks for those who didnt being their own.The guy wiped down the desk and chair before I sat down. He asked a couple questions and outlined the appraisal process. We then went out to the car so he could take pictures and record data. He had me sit in the car myself for social distance purposes, and we ran through a few procedures like turning the steering wheel and reading the odometer. It was good to be able to sit in the AC the entire time.It only took about 10 minutes, and he said generating the appraisal would take about 30 minutes and I could wait or go home. Either way theyd email it. I went home and a little later the appraisal came in.Appraisal came in a little more than half of KBB, but thats what I expected since Im selling too reseller.Went back 6 days later to actually sell the car. They prepped all the paperwork in about 15 minutes, then we went through and signed everything. They took off plates and registration sticker and printed the check right there. Whole thing took about 30 minutes.Everyone was super nice and informative the entire time. Never felt pressured or like I was being taken advantage of. This is the second car Ive sold to Carmax, and the experience was quick, easy, and professional both time.
Make sure your car is ACTUALLY capable of what you want it to do before you pay these people.On top of being lied to, I called and spoke with a manager who spoke down to me, and told me onstar isnt the same as remote start, like I was somehow unaware of that.They will literally say anything to make a sale. Before I landed on my equinox, I told them I needed torque and horsepower, and he tried to put me in a Nissan Rogue.I was lied to by sales, and then degraded by management. Also, the car I purchased was overpriced.
I had a fantastic experience at CarMax in Denton, where I just sold my car for blue book value in roughly one hour flat! Tracy helped me and was a breath of fresh air--so friendly, kind, and positive. I really appreciated how streamlined this experience was and would recommend anyone sell a vehicle to CarMax.
Dont count or depend on their maintenance team.My daughter bought a car at this location 2 months ago, and had to go in multiple times to get something fixed. The last visit was the most disappointing, as she was told that it is only a small problem and will resolve by itself. The 90 day guarantee is great, but only if they actually could take of it.
Worst experience ever. When purchasing our truck we told them it had alignment issues. They promised us they would fix it. Our truck has been in shop 4x since buying it in April. They refuse to start buy back process and keep trying to fix same issue. Very poor customer service. We are paying for something we can’t even drive. Manager said it’s hard to do buyback when it’s been financed and payments have been made. Don’t ever buy anything from Carmax!
Ive interacted with carmax before Ive got nothing but good things to say.Theyre there to help you buy a car, not sell you one. I havent purchased a car in about 17 years. I completely enjoyed the process. I enjoyed looking for the car on my own; doing the research on my own and then making a decision on the car without having someone breathing down my neck. This was the most pleasant process I have ever had purchasing a car. I saved money, on top of it all so that was a plus. I was able to get some perks such as Sirius Radio for 3 months and OnStar for 3 Months free when I asked if they were running any promotions. My only downfall was that I am now in a car that is technologically quite advanced and after 17 years, I feel that I am having to read the manual to even program a radio station.... LOL. The car is great, service was great, nothing was ever a problem and no question was too small to ask. Kudos to CarMax in Denton, TX.
This place is AMAZING! This is the first time I have ever bought a car on my own and I was so nervous. My salesman Faron was knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and not patronizing. There was no pressure and he got me the exact car I needed 2018 Kia Soul for a great price. The car is in amazing shape and I am still rebuilding credit so I thought I wouldn’t qualify. Then he ran financing and I qualified for a fair interest rate. Also the next day I came to pick it up and he was busy so Richard helped me finish paperwork and we were done in less than an hour. Highly, highly recommend this place for quality affordable cars.
CarMax is the best car dealership in TEXAS! Very reliable and affordable vehicles of all types. I am a long time customer and have always had good service but I want to single out Kameron Allen, he went above and beyond to get me into my new Chevy Equinox. I am so in love and happy that Kameron did all he could and stayed late just to make sure we drove off with a car and happy. Richard was also just as good I have never had customer service that outstanding! KUDDOS to you two. Thank you CarMax for hiring the best employees and making our lives of car buying so easy and fun!
Every single time I have called them about the vehicle they sold me, they can’t do anything to help me.They lied about the remote start, then told me they could install one, then told me they couldn’t, then told me my car is from Mexico, so nobody can (the Chevy dealership a mile away from them could.)Then, today, the TPMS failed, and I called them. They can’t do anything about that, either. She really offered to tell me about other mechanics in the area. Like google doesn’t exist.They lie to make a sale, and then abandon you once they have your money.
Carmax takes care of their customers. It is very clear they care about the customer experience and it shows. Carmax took care of me even when an issue arose and they fixed it. The staff was polite, helpful and very genuine. They stand by their products and back them up. I am 100% satisfied with Carmax and will use them in future for used cars.
Went to sell my deceased fathers car. Was informed i needed his death certificate. Returned with certificate. They gave me a quote, a little low but ok. The car was still being financed and was a little upside down on loan. I informed carmax, i would need to go to my bank and transfer money from savings to checking. They said everything would be ready the next day. That there was nothing else needed. So, i return next day, with money in hand. They asked for the death certificate again. I advised i have presented this to them the prior day, and they have made copy of it. They informed me they needed the original. I asked why yesterday they said nothing more was needed. No reply. This staff is very incompotent. I know providing a death certificate is trivial, but with a hectic schedule it is hard to find the time to go back and forth to this dealership. If they would of told me what more was needed my first time there, the problem would of been avoided.
I just wanna say that honestly the easiest car buying experience I ever had. In a stressful time my salesmen Tracy held it down the whole time. Her energy was high and was determined to meet my goals and that’s exactly what happened. Definitely recommending everyone to carmax.
My wife has been quietly searching for some time for a car that doesnt ultimately resemble a mom mobile. We looked online and found a 2017 Chrysler 300. We worked with brothers Jon and Dan from the Phoenix office, and got out financing arranged. These two made that part of the experience very good and they were thorough and patient as we had to gather information for them. We went to the Denton office to look at the car and make the decision. There we met with the guys, whose names escape me, and the experience there was professional and believe it or not, a pleasure. Thank you guys. My wife loves her car. Will refer anyone I find looking for a good ride and a pleasing experience.
It was really nice and clean. Very friendly staff. It was very quick and efficient from the time I walked in until I left with a check in hand. They made sure I had everything out of my vehicle. If you sell your car and do not have a ride, they will set up a Lyft ride for you.

It was so nice to just look around without being hassled. Ben had me test drive two luxury SUVs that I probably would not have considered before. He gave me my offer- which was very fair, gave me information on the carmax buying process, and I went on my way. No hassling, no pressure, just lots of information and pleasant interaction. I ended up getting another vehicle elsewhere with the year/miles I wanted, but I definitely checked the Carmax inventory first because I had a good experience. Traditionally have bought from Car dealerships and this was our first time at CarMax. We identified the car we wanted after following online site for a few days and went to Carmax in Denton. I will have to say that Carmax process made it easy and we were in and out with new vehicle in less than 3 hours.Happy Customer!
By far the best car buying experience I have Had. I have been buying cars for 31 years from everything from individuals to low end used car lots too major dealerships to include, James Wood Denton, Orr Nissan, Mak Haik Ford Desoto. (Bought a used Nissan Frontier Crew Cab (Not a Ford Afficianado) The staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to help any way they could!
We had a fantastic experience selling our car and buying another at the Denton Carmax. Cory was a wonderful salesperson who was relatable and not pushy in the least. He helped us get the best price for our car and found the PERFECT car for me to purchase. I would recommend Carmax over any traditional dealership.
The GM Matt strait up lied: awful experience I called the California store and paid for transferred to the denton store, all that was required by the denton store was to confirm the transfer we waited from July 8 to July 29 for the transfer to complete, every week we even called the store and the IVR would say it would arrive on July 29, now july 29 is here and no car! when called the store all the associate offered there apologies and admitted the process broke down at the denton store..then we talk to the GM Matt and it just strait up lies and said it wasnt his fault and had nothing to do with it and he claimed he cant even refund the money.
I took my Honda Civic in to sell. I didn’t realize they opened at 11 so me coming in at 9:30 was a surprise but Tracey was awesome and let me in. Carmax offered me 1000 more than Honda Denton next door. They also paid for a lyft home. I was in and out in about an hour. Perfect.
Do not deal with these people, promised to deliver one day then took extra week because they lost title. Then when finally arrived I gave cash for down payment and then 5 hours after they sold me car they call and say the employee Forgot to get the down payment and I need to pay them again for downpayment. Why would they give me all paperwork and car if I didn’t pay? Now they say pay more money or they will take car. They are crooks.
If you have never bought a car from Carmax, you have been missing out. This is the easiest way to buy a vehicle. You have more choices than a conventional car dealership. And the sales reps are amazing. Swing by a CarMax and find out for yourselve. You will be hooked.
Received a vehicle with a broken seat belt and missing items. took vehicle back for repairs and was given a loaner vehicle that broke down that I had just filled the gas tank up so Im out about $30 bucks and the vehicle had to be towed back the Denton store. I received another vehicle so far its fine
Worked with these guys today and was offered a price nearly three thousand dollars more than Classic Pre-owned of Denton across the street. Lasaundra helped me today and made the process completely stress free. I didnt have to haggle and walked out with a check. She was a complete professional and not cold like ol Gene Cole across the street at Pre-Owned of Denton.

2022-03-18I recently purchased a vehicle at CarMax all on-line. Venisha contacted me it took maybe 2-hours to from start to completion. I was very impressed with her knowledge. She was such a pleasure to speak with. Talking to her was like talking to an old friend. The vehicle was transported from Arlington/Fort Worth to Denton and I was contacted when the vehicle arrived. The Denton location went above and beyond when the vehicle arrived via transport. The transporter damaged the drivers side door. CarMax will not sell a vehicle if there is an issue. I really like that about this company. The gave me a loaner free of charge as well as gas for the inconvenience this caused. Fixed the problem, and when the vehicle was ready I picked it up. They also detailed it and cleaned the inside. Love this place. Go see Michael Gilley he was very professional and laid back as well.

All around great, the best dealership I have ever been to ,and the only dealership that has ever been enjoyable! There was nothing unpleasant from the moment I made my first phone call to the moment I drove away in my newly purchased vehicle! Can not say enough good things! 2022-01-15Ive sold three cars to CarMax and every time its gone smoothly with no surprises. This recent sale was even easier because of the online estimate feature. I took the car in and the appraisal was exactly the same as the online estimate and I accepted it and got a check before I left. Note: If there is balance with the lender sell the car at least two weeks before your next payment is due! It can take time for CarMax to pay off your loan. In my case it took one full week.

Every employee I dealt with was friendly, helpful and a joy to work with. You can set up an appointment to have them look at your car and the offer is good for a couple of days. Highly recommend.

2022-04-02The sales experience was seamless and straightforward. Courteous all the way through. Walked around the car and found some anomalies, but Nat the General Manager assured me that they would be take care of and we drew up a list. Brought the car in for the touch ups and Aurel (spelling?) the service advisor was great. Showed sincere interest in every detail. I overheard him talking to an elderly lady in the most caring and gentlest way explaining what theyll do for a simple air filter replacement. She was so grateful. Assuring to know that manners and respect still exist in our times.Bottom line, picked up my car and all the imperfections were taken care of. It looked better than coming off a New Car lot.Great CarMax team in Denton. I live 30 miles away, but will consider this as the first go to, going forward.

2021-10-23We loved the buying Experience. Our sales person was awesome and wanted to make sure we had what we were wanting. The only issue was that the halo headlight on our car was out and the mechanic told us that they would replace it. We never received a call back on getting it fixed after leaving several messages. It is very noticeable and very upsetting that we cant get it fixed as promised.

2022-01-18Very easy experience. I highly recommend completing the online quote prior to arriving and making an appointment. Everyone was very friendly and incredibly grateful. We only sold our vehicle and did not purchase from CarMax and we were not pressured or hounded at all about buying from them. They will be my first choice in the future for any other deals like this in the future!!

2022-07-18This review is for purchasing a car only, I did not do a trade in. I did not finance through them or buy a protection plan through them. Quick and easy if you know the car you want. They strictly do not haggle on the price of cars or any other service they sell, including financing and protection plans. For me, the time I saved and the convenience of the experience made up for the higher price I paid for the car than had I gone the private seller route. I knew the make and model of car I wanted and once I saw they had one in stock, I reserved it and drove it home the next day after only being there a hour.

2022-03-25I completed the online appraisal. You get an offer right then and when I came it they inspected the car. It took about 40 minutes to the cash value back. It matched the online offer exactly. The paperwork to sell and get my check took about about 40 additional minutes. Everyone were professional and kind. I highly recommend Car Max for selling a car

2022-03-30We went to sell our car, and left very pleased. The appraisal was fast and we had our answer in an hour. Did all the paperwork and signing, and in about 2 hours we were out. Since we did not buy another car, they even paid for a Lyft to take us back home. Process was fast and smooth. Definitely recommend.
