The owners have really let this place go seriously downhill in the last couple of years. I probably stop in here 4 to 5 times a year for the last 15 years or so to grab some sausage flavors that I usually cant find in the supermarket and also some steaks and chops from the meat counter. But lately the counter has been under staffed and the meat selection is paltry and sketchy if you ask me. It sure seems like ownership doesnt care anymore. Love the sausage but for anything else Ill just go to Bellville.
We just stopped here for lunch for the first time. We love Chappell Hill sausage so we figured it would probably be a good lunch. I saw a bad review on the chickensandwich but I thought Id take a chance and Im so glad I did! It was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed his sausage sandwich and french fries and I also like their seasoned salt. Another special treat just for good measure was their wonderful crunchy ice. We will definitely stop back there.
WAY better prices than buying in the stores. Great cuts of meat & of course their fantastic sausage.
My Wife and I only purchase Chappelle Hill all beef sausage as it is the only one that will not upset my Wifes stomach and we do love the taste. So we decided to visit there establishment. We will take the long drive again. Tom
We love getting steaks here. Worth the drive. Bring a cooler, especially in warm weather, to safely transport the high quality meat. Friendly counter service too!
We had burgers. Just like I made them at home. These are NOT frozen patties. The homemade onion rings are delicious.
You get a lot for your money, so bring your appetite. The sausage sandwich contains as much sausage as the rather large bun can possibly hold. And the side order of sweet potato fries is easily enough for two.
A Texas legend! Amazing sausage, also good baked goods like cookies and brownies. Looked like some good cuts if beef and pork too. I did not try the sit down restaurant portion of the establishment.
This may be the best sausage in Texas. The beef is my favorite. My review for the Bellville Meat Market will say the same thing. I love them both.
The burger was Not homemade - which you would expect from a Meat Company! The Brisket sandwich was inedible....will not return 😕
We had the sausage sandwich and sliced brisket sandwich and it was really good! It was intimidating to walk in at first because of the building and the amount of locals, but because we saw so many locals we knew we HAD to try their food. And it was 10/10.
As always the best and freshest sausage and if you didnt already know some of the best steaks around. The people are helpful and friendly. Stop by the next you time you head to Austin you wont be disappointed.

Fabulous Texas style sausage! Made kolaches using their Pencil Smoked Sausage and it was the perfect width and the “snap” when you bite into it just amazing! Cannot go wrong with their Jalapeño Cheese Sausage and Smoked Hot Sausage are so flavorful with great heat. I’m a native Texan far from home, and I am so glad I can mail order Chapel Hill sausage.
This place is great! This is our first time to visit this place and we decided to have lunch. I had the pinto beans with sausage and my Wife had the Club sandwich along with onion rings. The beans were very good and the club sandwich along with the onion rings were good as well. Just a bit of a warning the club sandwich is large and can feed two people. We will definitely be back to visit this place.
My go to deer processing for the last 3 years. I dont know the guys name that does all the deer processing but I should so I am sorry. Hes awesome. Takes great care of the deer meat. Quality is top notch & the prices are great. I have had smoked sausage, smoked jalapeno & cheese sausage, summer sausage, pan sausage, deer/hamburger meat all made to go along with the steaks & chili meat I always get. Everything has been delicious. Cant recommend Chappell Hill Sausage enough for deer processing needs.
The food was excellent and I would give it a five-star except for the guy behind the counter who didnt tell us anyting and we had to figure everything out on our own. Also got there after lunch and so they were out of tea which he said they could not refill or remake. A police officer had to ask for barbecue sauce three times. Not the best service but again the food was excellent
Whenever possible we will stop by for a sausage on the stick, cheaper broken links, a lunch etc.
Ive always love Chappel Hill, but getting it fresh makes it even better. Had the sliced sausage sandwich and a side of cheese fries. Fries were crispy and had a generous helping if cheese with a super satisfying cheese pull. Highly recommend making the drive out to Chappel Hill.
We ate at this Chappell Hill restaurant with a small wait during peak hour. The service and food were fantastic. The staff was friendly and courteous along with attentive to anything we needed during our meal.
The prices here are great for quality products. I had a jalapeno hot dog that didnt quite last long enough for me to take a picture and I got jerky as well. Glad I stopped in on my way from Austin to Houston! Service was fantastic, the guy let me sample the jerky before buying, and the sample size was more than generous. Would definitely come back if Im driving through again!
Nice little store with a great selection of sausages, broken sausages ((discounted) and meats. They also sell fresh eggs and I cant wait to try them. The gentleman who helped us was kind and excellent. Well be back.

Came to try it out. Got here right after 8am. Door was locked and 3 employees looking at us from inside. We waited for a few minutes then went to our truck. Once we got loaded up they came and opened door. Another customer that was with us left too. Could have at least acknowledged us. Wont be back. Shame because I heard great things but as a business owner myself I dont understand how you can leave a customer (with a baby) standing out front even after the time you are supposed to open. Ill open the doors early. Chappell Hill Bakery it is, food is awesome anyway...
Always the best. Every time I visit Houston I stop upon my return home to Austin to get sausage. Employees are very helpful and friendly.
Honestly the service was very below par but it was expected. We waited to get some meat for 15 minutes while the guy in front of us took his time. There was only one person handling the meat. The meat, however, was beyond phenomenal. I recommend this place for a quick bite or to prepare some high quality meat for dinner
Good food, and great sausage. Its a meat market with a counter you can order off the menu thats on the wall behind the counter. You can either order it to go or there. We stop in just about every time we go to Houston. Ive never had a bad plate or sandwich from here. Like today I had the sausage samwich and it was huge and very tasty. I dont see what the person below was complaining about the service, you have to order first the get you a table.
Always gotten good food here in the past , so it’s been worth the 40 mile drive . Never again !!! The sausage tasted old and freezer burnt . The bun was also vintage , tough and hard as a rock . Could have been considered a deadly weapon !!! Complained to the staff and was told everything should be fresh !!!
Stopped in for chicken fried steak dinner. Worst CFS ever. The meat slid right out of the sub-par breading. The meat was very very tough and chewy. Not tasty, either. Disappointed...

Food was great, servers were great, however, the lady that took our order was terrible. She was rude, not only to my husband and I, but also to my children!! Something strange was that she was smiling and laughing with the customer who came after us. We also placed an order to go, when she took it to our table she basically threw it down, we said thank you and she didnt respond! Shame shame!
Always made it a point to go here whenever I am in the area. If you are in Houston head this way up 290 for bluebonnet season and make sure you stop here. The sausage is delicious and definitely worth your time.
Awesome meat market. We shop every month for all of our meat. The quality is unmatched and the prices are great. If you have never tried this place it is well worth the drive. Youll never find meat like this is the super market.

My husband and I are native texans and loved their sausage enough that when we moved out of state we found a way to order it and have it shipped. We did this once while in IA and had a very good experience. Shipped in good time with dry ice and everything looked amazing.This time however was the worst experience EVER. The shipping and handling charge was in the $40 range and we had only purchased about $40 worth of sausage. Figured it was worth it to have good sausage. Well two weeks go by and we are wondering wheres our sausage. No email confirming shipping with tracking as most business do, nothing. So next day we go out to our warehouse and find one of the boxes that came off the FED-EX GROUND truck was our sausage. YES I SAID GROUND. They shipped perishable food ground and it took 3 days to get to us in the panhandle of FL (not a big distance by any means). One of the links was already thawing out so we had to rush it home. We ate the thawed meat that night and I will say it tasted TERRIBLE (not what we have gotten in the past).I sent a complaint, and three weeks later nothing. I went to the website to submit the complaint and 2 days later NOTHING. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS and I will find another TX Sausage company to get my sausage from now on. A little customer courtesy goes a long way. Oh and WHY DID I PAY $40 SOMETHING IN SHIPPING AND HANDLING TO WAIT 2 WEEKS AND GET IT THROUGH GROUND (3 DAYS)??? HORRIBLE.
Havent had their sausage in years. I live in Ft.worth, had to go to Brenham last week. Took a cooler with me. Should have took 2.Guess I will be online ordering more.

Great home cooked meals and a good price. And they have their famous Chappell Hill sausage.
We ordered a ribeye hamburger and recieved a ribeye steak with a bun on the side. I assumed hamburger meant ground ribeye in burger form. I was disappointed. They were out of sausage so I cannot comment about that.
The food is great and well worth the wait time. Based upon the amount of customers, you just have to speak up and sometime catch someone’s attention. I guess living in Houston for the past 35 years Ive learned to get things done by taking action. As for Rachel’s review below, sorry you had to wait such a LONG time... Im sure a little wait did not ruin your appetite and force you to write a downgraded review. Darn... that just made me hungry!! I will be there on Saturday!!
Me and my girlfriend drive from Austin to Houston all the time and that is the best dam place to stop for all your needs such a great place people are friendly and helpful for all your needs. I was looking for a meat processor and came across Chappell Hill Sausage. Theyre sausage is good but FYI to all the hunters out there. They only do processing in deer season.
In fairness, I cannot rate the quality of the food, because the service was so beyond terrible, that I could not get any one to serve me. After waiting many minutes without either of the three staff even making eye contact, let alone greeting me, I asked one directly to help me. She stared at me, then simply turned her back on me, and resumed her conversation with the rest of the staff.They werent interested in helping the man who came in later, nor the woman. Eventually the third customer asked one of the employees by name, to go get his brother to assist the customers. He was more interested in talking to the other staff, than helping us, so I gave up and left.Ill no longer be buying this sausage in the grocery stores either - the staff are too rude for this business to be supported.

***Deer Processing*** Ridiculously expensive. Easily 50% higher than every processor in the area. Do yourself a favor... keep driving past this place and head to Bellville meat market.

2022-05-24Chappell Hill Sausage Company welcomes you with great smelling smoked meats as you pull in. There are a few tables to eat there and there was a constant flow of people. I ordered a jalapeño sausage on a stick (a must from a place that has sausage in its title) as well as a junior bacon cheeseburger. It was all so good! And it was no junior burger, this is a massive burger. You have to get it with bacon because the bacon was thick and crispy. I’m a fan! Thanks Chappell Hill Sausage Company for a great lunch.

2022-03-12Iced tea 2nd to none!The sausage is simply amazing. The BBQ sauce on the other hand is not a true Texas sauce. It’s way too sweet and overpowers the sausage instead of enhancing the flavor.Will definitely stop again. Just won’t order the sauce.I love that you can also shop freshly butchered meats as well as fresh Yard eggs.Home made jams and jellies. Cut little shop area. Love the Christmas Ornaments.

2022-02-03The best experience I’ve had in a very long time. The both people at counter were very friendly and not in a fake way. They truly exceeded my expectations. Customer service was impeccable. I had a short conversation with one of the employees that was truly nice and authentic. So rare these days. No need to compliment the food, it has always been excellent and high quality. Make the drive . It’ll be worth it.

2022-01-05Got there right a closing. Very friendly folks allowed us to peruse and and questions. Friends from the UK were most impressed with the large, beautiful steaks for sale. Saw a small cafe seating area, and learned they can prepared the steaks there. We resolved to return in the future to enjoy. I did purchase a 2 lb. sirloin to take home and cook, along with their signature spices.. It was outstanding, and quite tender. Looking forward to a repeat.

2022-06-28Definitely stay away from this place. Stoped by and checked the refrigerated pre packed steaks they had for sell and most of them were green and very discolored. Told the girl behind the counter who alerted the butcher who said they are just kind of green and still good even though they had obviously spoiled. Then he continued to tell me if they are to green for me then just dont buy them. Will never go back there again and will never buy chaplel Hill sausage any of my grocery stores. He was very rude. Becareful what you eat or buy there. You could get sick from food poisoning

2018-09-17Love stopping here on our way home! Bring a cooler if you have to travel like we do. Picked up a couple of nice looking ribeyes,a couple packages of their bacon, just missing the spinach and feta pan sausage this time! If they have it when you go, make sure to grab some!

2022-03-29I just discovered your original smoked sausage yesterday at Albertsons here in N. Texas. I had never heard of it before, but thought I would try it with the ribs I was smoking. All I can is Wow! I wish I had found you long ago. I am spoiled, it will be the only sausage I will buy now and look forward to trying some of your other products.

2022-01-21Im sorry but I love smoked sausage and we normally as a family do it ourselves but due to the covid we havent been able to do it so we have been trying different brands I found yalls have a greasy taste from yalls smokers may want to look at grease build up in smoker
