We have visited two other veterinarians in Abilene, and we had not been impressed. Chimney Rock Animal Hospital was able to work us in on short notice. Everyone was cheerful and professional. Dr. Ratliff performed a thorough examination of our dogs and spent extra time to make sure all our questions were answered, even though they were working us in on short notice. We will definitely be returning to Chimney Rock Animal Hospital in the future.
By far, the best vet weve ever had. Dr. Ratliff has been a miracle worker numerous times with us. He has taken care of all of ours from the beginning. His staff is amazing, and truly one of a kind. Hes honest, even if its not necessarily what you want to hear, but its what is best for our pet - he tells you. The costs of services are reasonable, as well as how quickly they get you in when you call. Thankful that Dr. Ratliff has always remembered us by name, as well as our pets.
Dr. Ratliff was so sweet and nice to our dog. She is hard to get along with and does not like men at all. He didnt even blink an eye. He also was very considerate of my daughters feelings. He understands pets are truly part of the family. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Ratliff did a quality of life exam on our precious 13 year old Kricket and discovered she had a tumor on either her spleen or liver. She had been going down for a couple of weeks, not eating, losing weight, unable to chase cats that she loved so dearly. We decided to let her go and Rest In Peace, by far the hardest decision we have ever had to make. The staff and doctor were very compassionate and did not rush us in any way. Her passing was quick and painless much better then it would have been if we would have been selfish and kept her “alive” and allowed her to pass at home possibly alone. They treated her with kindness from the beginning to the end, even placing a flower on her casket and writing her name on it dotting they “I” in Kricket with a heart. Thank you Dr. Ratliff and team.
We got really lucky with this vet. He and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to work with your schedule to help you get your pet in for an appointment. Dr. Williams never overcharges and does not rush to surgery as a solution for any problems your pet may have. On the plus side, if surgery is required he does perform them. I highly recommend Chimney Rock to anyone looking for an excellent, reasonably priced vet!
Dr. Decker is amazing! I have a very shy/skittish dog and Dr. Decker was very calm and comforting with her. I have never seen my dog open up to anyone so quickly. I would definitely recommend her for anyone who also has a scaredy-animal.The staff here was also great. I needed an immediate appointment and they were able to work me in and were very friendly.
We love this office! They usually don’t have but one animal scheduled at a time. Which I love it being just us there. I’m never rushed and feel free to ask questions and they take time to answer all my questions. We have a small dog and an out door cat. At one time we had chickens, and I needed advice on bumble foot, The vet was vet friendly and had even looked up information before we came in. Also there prices are average to below average. They do not charge an office visit for the heart worm shot unless I have other topics I want to discuss.
We loved Dr.Williams and Kathy and they will be missed for sure. Since their retirement we have seen the new staff twice and have had absolutely zero complaints. They have been very helpful and kind to us and our animals. They may not remember our names YET but they just got there. With time Im sure that Chimney rock will be just like it has been before where they know your name when you walk in the door.
With four cats, all with their own unique medical issues, we are frequent flyers to Chimney Rock Animal Hospital. Drs. Decker and Ratliff, as well as the entire staff, are outstanding in every respect! They take a genuine interest in the care and well-being of our kitties, and are kind enough to call us with updates, lab results, or just to follow-up. If our furbabies only knew how lucky they are to be in the care of the good folks at CRAH!
We love Chimney Rock Animal Hospital and that includes our four dogs! The staff is welcoming, super friendly, and they knowhow to treat your pets! They truly care about your pets. I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Thank you Chimney Rock!! Love, Blayklee, Finley, Ivy and Addi! 🐾
Im honestly a little shocked by the negative reviews, I love this vet!!! Me and my wife live paycheck to paycheck, they are always willing to work with us on the best treatment with our bugdet, the vet is always gentle and kind to my animals.we had to bring my cat in after being mauled by and neighbors pitbull, they saw her right away, we were hastarical and broke and he talked over options that could fit what was best. She survived!!! Would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Williams was the greatest! So my initial review was for him. Read down to see the latest since Dr. Williams retired....When I was first referred here a year ago it was because I had to put my 15 year old furbaby to rest. I was devastated yet all the staff were very patient and kind. It was the first time Id actually had to make the choice and it was so much harder than one passing on his/her own. The caring extended beyond the office visit too, as I received a special, handwritten card shortly afterward offering their condolences and remembrances.I ended up adopting an abused male rott/shepherd mix a couple of months later and it was SO wonderful to see that same caring and concerned attitude continue during the positive times as well! Nearly a year later and only a few visits, but Kathy not only remembers me, she remembers how I started coming there and how my newest baby has progressed in his behavior and personality as time has passed. Part of me believes that Kathy and Allen are a good part of why I adopted yet another abused rescue, this time a female min-pin/shepherd mix. Nothing has changed, and Kathy doesnt have to refer to a chart to remember all the little personal details!I refer Chimney Rock Animal Hospital to EVERYONE!8/4 UPDATE: DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC! Dr. Williams retirned about a month ago, and this new vet that bought the business is arrogant and nothing but hassle. Ive had nothing but trouble trying to get my heartworm meds for my three, then he said he approved 2 of them but he never did, and now because I asked for my records to be transferred he will not hold to what he did when he was my assigned vet at the time. He speaks negatively about Dr. Williams, insinuates that you are not taking care of your pets properly (i.e. You must not be giving your medicines right, Its your fault she has heartworms (btw, on that one weve already determined that they must have been incubating prior to ending up in a shelter)), and is just in general an arrogant a$$. Maybe a new person might like him, but if you were a patient with Dr. Williams, this guy will definitely rub you the wrong way. Ive changed my vets, and after todays phone call Im definitely glad I did.Sorry to lose you Dr. Williams, and happy to be rid of you Dr. Ratliff.
Allen & Kathy you will truly be missed! You cant be replaced. New people are callous and unfriendly. I wish you well in your retirement, but Attn: Do not go here. Dr. Williams and his wife retired and Dr. Ratliff has taken over. God bless Allen and Kathy in their retirement. I will be changing veterinarians and no longer can recommend Chimney Rock as the best Vet in Abilene...I really hate this, our animals have gone there for years, but my dog could even sense the hostility and Toto always loves her vet trips. Again, Allen and Kathy, please enjoy your retirement. This was a sad day for me...
BEWARE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VET THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT ANIMALS. CHIMNEY ROCK ONLY CARES ABOUT PROFIT. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE YOUR FUR BABIES.I have been going to chimney rock for close to 10 years. I have never asked them to make an exception on treatment or cost of services. ALWAYS paid in full at time of service. The new vets refused to help 3 of my suffering animals 2 if which were dying because my sister in law wrote a bad review of them on Google. Her ordeal with them had nothing to do with me. The vet even called me trying to get me to yell her to take off review or he wouldnt treat my animals. I told him vets are a dime a dozen and if your reputatioon means more than the suffering of animals you are greedy, unethical, and in the wrong line of work.
First discovered this place in 2010 when my cat got very sick. Took him there that morning and they were very informative about what was wrong with him. He had a stroke at a ripe old age :( I was very sad when they told me and cried. They said they would do everything they could and keep him over night. The next morning they called and said he had passed away over night. They made him very comfortable and have him medication and water. I know they took very good care of him in his last moments. The people here are so trust worthy and very genuine. They askef me if I wanted him cremated in a jar to keep our his body to bury..i let them cremate his body. I remember him alive and content. A few days later they sent me a letter in the mail filled with the most genuine heart felt comforting words ever! they even tried to help me find another cat, which eventually I did end up adopting athe pound. My new cat goes to this place and I know she is in good hands. Appointments are very flexable. Friendly staff. Adorable office cat who is very calm even around louder animals! Clean small office. I louvre this place so much and would def recommend to anyone with any animal.
My cat pepper i noticed last nite his ear swelled up....i was so hopin to get him in today.....they told me to bring him in and when i got there they took him in and saw him......having surgery done today on his ear.....i appreciate everytime i go with my animals they r great...

2022-05-02Chimney Rock Animal Hospital is a first-rate facility that offers high-quality pet care. My dogs have always been well-received by the staff, and are handled delicately throughout their visits. The doctor is very knowledgeable of their needs, and provides the best treatment plans. I have great respect for Chimney Rock Animal Hospitals work, and will never hesitate to return there as now my one dog needs continuing care. Keep up the good work!

2022-03-14My dogs ALWAYS love going to Chimney Rock vets. They get excited to visit the staff and Dr. Ratliff. The staff and Dr. Ratliff are always professional and courteous. Dr. Ratliff takes his time and never rushes you. He makes sure all your questions are asked and answered. He also gives you different options of treatment and never pushes you to do a treatment you dont feel comfortable with. I would recommend to anyone that has a pet they love and care for.

2019-05-14My precious Beauregard was loved by all. When he got sick with pancreatitis, Dr. Chase Ratliff worked so hard to make BeauBear better and better Beau got. Except the treatment to heal Beaus pancreatitis caused an autoimmune illness and the treatment for that caused Beaus liver to malfunction. Throughout it all, Chase and his team were compassionate, caring and respectful of not only our emotions (knowing how much Beau meant to us) but of our finances. I honestly believe Chase and the rest of the staff at Chimney Rock Animal Hospital have the best interest of our pets in all they do. Beau will be missed, but Chase made his passing bearable. Thank you Chimney Rock!
