I love China Family! The portions are absolutely massive and theyre super quick to prepare your food. The staff is very friendly and I love the variety of dishes on their menu. If youre feeling adventurous, theyve got something for you and if youre craving an Americanized staple, theyve got that too! I always get the Chongqing Chicken, its a must-have. Not super spicy because I can barely handle spice. Their fried rice is super good and has excellent flavor from the wok.
This place is absolutely amazing! Their dishes are family size so be aware of that, they have fresh white rice and its at no extra charge! They have traditional Chinese food and regular American Chinese! I really recommend yall checking this place out! Its our family favorite! Give it a try you wont regret it!
All the people who rated this less than 5 stars probably ordered the American Chinese food plates because theyre punks; order from the chefs special portion of the menu.As someone from North Texas, which has a huge Asian community, the Dan Dan Noodles are the best Ive had in Texas, and the double cooked pork was amazing as well. The staff is super friendly, and the food is amazing. Will be back everytime Im in Austin.
Loved it. Last week tried going to our usual places on Airport Road and all of them were closed to in house dining. Have seen this before but the exterior kept me from going here. Went in with a friend for a quick lunch and the food was excellent. Came back on Sunday for a afternoon meal. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. Was not crowded and got busy soon. Large portion sizes...well priced and I put the bill in so you can see the cost. Authentic schezwan food...though I have not seen the peppercorns that numb your mouth yet....great food and service. Have put pics of the entrance and the food today.Tofu LoMein and green beans and eggplant ... excellent and spicy ...you can ask for spice level and it is done well...not the usual chili oil that you get elsewhere. Hot and sour soup ..all good. Lots of leftovers and we misjudged the portion sizes ...order a few and then more as you need. BTW booths are made for social distancing and your own little pandemic safe space !! I am happy they have in house dining and post vax happy to eat out.
Food was awful: The food that was ordered were hard (had to spit it out) and dissatisfying - tasted like they were old. Staff seemed uncaring - they were visible more concerned with the satisfaction of diners rather than those ordering take out. When paying, the cashier left multiple times, making the transaction take longer than it should have (so rude!). I hope that people who are considering trying this place out see this review - Save your good, hard earned money folks! There are many places out there that serve actual food.
This place used to be great. Any of the fried and breaded chicken meals (sesame, general tso, orange) have been reduced to mainly wads of breading that’s fried and sauced. The amount of chicken meat used to impress. Now the amount that remains seems sad when surrounded by dozens of tiny fried dough balls. If inflation took away the massive portions then don’t fill my bowl with fried dough. Just skip that and leave me with what $15 buys me in this insane economy. Went from a recommend to an avoid
Oh man, I’m not even sure where to begin. This meal was honestly the best Chinese meal I have ever had, hands down. I had the General Tso’s Chicken and fried rice delivered through Uber and not only was the flavor there, but the temperature was too! The food was still HOT and the can of Pepsi was still COLD! :) Now, let’s talk about the flavor. This tastes like someone’s grandma put a lot of care and love into it. The chicken gets better with each bite! The rice is simply perfect. The texture, flavor, and ratio mix of egg in the rice are all spot on! The portions are great! Even had a little left over for later! Can’t wait to go again and try something else!
Update dropping to a 1 star, gave China Family another try as only Chinese close to us. Ordered for pickup at 714pm, and they said pick up in 35 min. We walked here and arrived at 755pm. They told us they hadnt started yet, but would prioritize it and would be ready in 10 min. At 830pm finally asked where our food was, and they said 15 min... Arg, will certainly never be back due to this, but to add insult to waste of time, the host not only did not apologize, but was quite rude. Still waiting as I write this at 8:35pm. Food was much better this time around thoughJust picked up. The worst Dan dan noodles Ive had in my long life...its like a bowl of limp spaghetti. Not putting it a 2, cause sing noodles alright and Kung pow beef pretty good. But seriously, if Mgmt doesnt know how to make dan dan, dont offer it
Great food! I’ve ordered veggie Dan Dan noodles, sesame Tofu and eggplant and fried beans. They went above and beyond to make them vegetarian even though they aren’t in the menu. It is in my opinion one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Austin. Love their service!
The food and the customer service was great! I would highly recommend this place. The griddle beef is the perfect amount of spicy. Super flavorful and highly recommend you get it. Theres so many items on the menus. So of you come here, please post your food so I know what to try next time.
I got Lo Mein and it was made with linguini noodles… gross and not how you make lo mein. My partner had sesame chicken and it was nasty, hard, and off-tasting. Food was really overpriced for the quality. Panda Express has better food (and prices) than this joint. At least the portion was big.
Great little family owned restaurant. The food was delicious and traditional Chinese. There rice was of great quality. We ordered the Dry green beans, shrimp and vegetables and the pork belly. The pork belly sauce was delicious. The garlicky green beans were cooked perfectly. The shrimp and vegetables was a little more plain and simple. Don’t know that we would order that one again. But 2 out of 3 wasn’t bad. Service was proficient and the food came out quickly.
Today was my second time visiting this restaurant, the overall experience was great. Both waitress was really friendly, the younger lady took her time to explain how their menu works, so that help us to determine if we want dishes of authentic Sichuan Chinese Food, or quick lunch special to simple our order. We ordered #S15 House special fish, and V3 Dried Fried Green Beans. Both plates taste really good, only thing I would remind me self next time is to ask for half salt and oil on my dishes. That is just not own preference. We dont normally eat salty food, the way they made it is based on the traditional Sichuan style, so been salty and spicy is normal. So I would keep that in my own mind for next visit. The sitting area are with good amount of tables and seats, they even have a private room that can accommodate big group of 12 or less. There are some more other pictures that we took on last weekend, since I didnt ordered them, I didnt know what the names were.I do recommend everyone who understands what traditional Sichuan style is all about, then you will enjoy and appreciate the food here.
I’m extremely picky about Chinese food since most places are American style with too much salt, grease, oil, sugar, cornstarch, and other stuff, but not this one! We ordered off the Foodie menu, which is the authentic Chinese food. Food was perfectly seasoned and not greasy! Amazingly good. I’m going back to eat again for the second time in 2 days. The severs were very friendly and the service was very good. We were afraid this would be American Chinese food, but we were pleasantly surprised with how good and authentic the food is! It’s on par with Pepper Twins in Houston!
The place is average at best. I would say the Chinese did at Sichuan river or Asia cafe or Hunan bistro is more authentic and has more variety than here. The food here is more Americanized and I felt that it was a little more saltier than I would have liked. Not really bad though but average. The food items to order are the Chongqing chicken - it tastes like fried popcorn chicken, the dry fried green beans are food and so is the eggplant dish. The sizzling lamb was ok. Parking is ample outside and there wasn’t a wait, even during lunch time.
Very shady business practice. It was New Year’s Eve, and we ordered 2 dishes to take out, and we were told it’d take 45 minutes. 45 minutes later they told us they still haven’t gotten to our order, but we clearly saw another group already got their food even though they ordered AFTER us. They probably made their food first because it was a bigger order. This kind of dishonesty is just unbelievable. What’s more unbelievable is that told us they would call us when the food is ready and we could just wait at home (I live nearby), and they NEVER called. Please avoid this restaurant. They don’t deserve your visit.
I like this place because they have all the american chinese take-out favorites, but also some more authentic Chinese menu items if youre interested. The prices are a little higher than average, but so are the portion sizes .... I usually get two meals out of one entree.
2nd visitA simple combo fried rice to-go. Portion is large, great. Compacted down where the top of the rice took shape of the lid.Rice was clumpy and dry. Very underseasoned. If even a wok was used, it lacked any flavor. Odd texture and consistency of brown rice, very tough grains. The combination toppings were good, meat and shrimp cooked well. However, I cant get past this rice. Almost sickening.Second chance was a fail.17 dollars NOT WORTH a fried rice of this quality. Sorry..1st visitOrdered Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles.Came with very little minced meat.Unlike other Dan Dan Noodles ive had. This bowl was almost a noodle soup, but the soup was chili oil. It was full of mala taste. A.k.a numbing spice. Nothing else but a numb tongue and a tummy ache. Ive had Sichuan before. But the mala to this was not edible.
This is my favorite restaurant in the whole city. The food is AMAZING, especially the chili fish and the cabbage. Anything Ive had from here is great. Highly recommend eating in if you can, and have everything sizzling hot! All the people that work here are so nice and have great senses of humor.
The food is okay but be prepared to wait 20 minutes after your pickup time and to not be acknowledged or greeted. Not surprised as other reviews state the same but I wanted to like this place. Also a bit pricey for the food to taste just okay. Sadly will not be returning, as this the second time where my experience hasn’t been good.
Delicious Sichuan style Chinese food. Honestly one dish is big enough for two people to share unless you have humongous appetites. We got the fish in chili oil from the foodies menu and it was a great balance of spice and numbing sensation that you would expect from Sichuan style food. We also got Lo Mein which was also good but next time we go back well probably just get a single item from the foodies menu to share between 2 people.
Found this online and by reviews and pictures was very interested so came and food was great very good, flavorful, fresh and portions were generous. My only complaint was the service we had a young guy and was slow with everything and there was tables sat after us getting their orders put in, I had to tell him were ready........then same thing with check we had to get up and go to front to pay. It wasnt that busy maybe 5 or 6 tables with people. I do wanna thank the lady that was picking up the slack and helping us bring out our food
THIS PLACES FOOD WAS SIMPLY (O.K.), BUT NOTHING-NOTHING CLOSE TO TASTY. THE PORTION YOU GET COMES IN A SMALL LITTLE BLACK BOWL WITH A CLEAR LID..............THEN THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO CHARGE YOU ALMOST $20.00 AFTER THE TAX IS INCLUDED - FOR A ***COMBINATION FRIED RICE. I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WHEN THE HOSTESS HANDED ME THAT LITTLE BLACK BOWL!!!! LOL///// BUT ILL ONLY BUMP-MY-OWN-HEAD (ONCE)!!!! & BECAUSE I SERIOUS LOVE CHINESE FOOD, IVE STARTED GOING RIGHT ON DOWN THE ROAD TO (CHINA PALACE - at 6605 AIRPORT BLVD. - 78752) - ANDI ORDERED THE SAME EXACT COMBINATION FRIED RICE THAT COMES IN THIS HUGE WHITE STYROFOAM TRAY - THAT WAS FILLED TO THE RIM & THE TASTE WAS PHENOMINAL. ***EVERYONE: GO TO (CHINA PALACE) - LOCATED RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM THIS UNSAVORY ESTABLISHMENT.
They took their lunch menu away, which SUCKS!!!! It was the only good thing about this place in my opinion, especially considering they are very close to my office…The food just “ok”at best… and the astronomical prices made the food taste a little worse than usual to me… but that’s just me. An example for astronomical pricing, you ask?!? How about I ordered dumplings and a small soup for lunch and it was almost SEVENTEEN DOLLARS!!! Almost $20 for food that is just ok, is not ok in my book… I won’t be back!
ROACHES were in food and waiter was not surprised or apologetic. Staff didnt try to make it better or address this issue. The space is not sanitary or anywhere I will be dining again. The food is also very expensive. $15 for green beans is expensive in my book. There are so many great spots to eat Chinese food in Austin. I dont know how this one is still open given the dirty venue, uncaring staff, and overpriced food.
We had one and only dish - Fish filet with diced Chinese Peppers (F32 on their website) - here and can say that they have really put in lot of effort to make it as Authentic as possible. We have tried similar dish in Guangzhou, China and it was the best fish in hot oil with Chinese peppers (green and red Sichuan peppers) and China Family Highland is the only restaurant which has come close to the authentic taste, Kudos to that!! We would recommend if you can use whole Chinese peppers in the dish, maintain the spice consistency (sometimes it is good and sometimes it is very low). Fish quantity is enough BUT please increase the broth quantity for the dish.
I’ve tried to give China Family a chance because it’s close and the food is pretty good, but the food is never ready when promised. On multiple occasions myself and other customers have had to wait 30-45+ after the promised time. It’s just not good enough to deal with the headache of take out. This latest time they promised between 7:22 and 7:32. Food was ready at 8:47
Have never once placed a take out order and gotten it on time. Portions for takeout compared to dining in have varied hugely (you get more food when you eat inside)They have no system in place to help keep any social distancing around their tiny window. Most recently placed an order through door dash, got charged, they never got it, and then told me I needed to pay again at the window.Bad service, inconsistent, food is decent so they get a point there, but their entire process needs an overhaul and could definitely streamline their take out experience rather than having 30 people stand around a window waiting aimlessly for someone to shout their name.EDIT: I’ll add another two stars cause they ended up comping our meal, but still so much room for improvement.
I REALLY wanted to like this place. The service was great, we assumed with so many 5 star ratings, the high prices would be justified. We even ordered an extra dish to eat later because we were so certain it would be great.$80 later, we’re disappointed and hating ourselves for throwing money away. It LOOKED beautiful. If I weren’t vaccinated, I’d be assuming I had COVID and lost my taste. I feel like I’m being gaslit by the other reviews.Your experience may vary, but ours was awful. Nothing against the people there, but I could’ve had better orange chicken from Panda Express for 1/3 the cost.
Awesome! The food here is like no other Chinese Ive had. The flavor of each dish was amazing. We tried several different dishes and all were great. The one that surprised me was the eggplant. Im not really much on eggplant, but it was really good. So much flavor! The staff was very welcoming, friendly and attentive. I hope to return the next time Im in Austin.
I absolutely love their delicious Sichuan style dishes. Theyre less than a 5 minute walk from where I live so its a very convenient location right off of Airport and Guadalupe. The portions are on point for the price you pay as well, which is very reasonable. Theyre super nice over there too and thats a huge plus.
Delicious authentic Chinese food! I tried the eggplant dish, a spicy chicken dish and a delicate fish dish. All three were amazing!!! I even ate lunch and then came back for dinner the same day. All three dishes were something I’ve never had before at any other Chinese restaurant. Everyone who works there is super sweet and the atmosphere is very family friendly. I would definitely recommend!!
Flavor, flavor, flavor! This place is legit. I love that they have a menu for newbies who want traditional fare and foodies who want to try more authentic dishes. Rarely do I see a staff more invested in the customer experience, down to bringing me specialty tea. The portions are large and keep well for leftovers. I will be returning often!
My first time and I ordered to go via online. Ordered some hot and sour soup, with some egg rolls. It was the best hot and sour soup I have had in a long time! The soup was true to its name! The egg rolls were very tasty, crisp, and flavorful. Cant wait to go back and order a meal!
This place is great. I’ve tried four dishes from their “foodie” menu and they’ve all been terrific. Spicy and satisfying, and with very large portions. The staff and (presumable) owner are friendly and chatty and helpful. I will definitely be back there soon to try more of the menu. Highly recommend.
Have only ordered once so will update my review whenever I order again. That is to say, your mileage may vary from this review. Overall the food was passable, but quite underwhelming.Ordered two Sichuan dishes: the chongqing chicken and braised pork belly. The chicken lacked the signature “mouth-numbing” sichuan peppercorns that traditionally accompany this dish. The chicken wasn’t crispy, but dry, and surprisingly unsalted/unflavored. However, I will say the strong dosage of ginger was a nice touch that I haven’t seen at other Sichuan restaurants. The pork belly had a great sauce but the meat was incredibly tough. Slicing the pork with a kitchen knife was difficult because of how hard and stringy the meat was.
We had a group of eight a few of us who cook a lot of Chinese food. There dishes were decent and of good size. The beer prices were shockingly low, probably a teaser to get you in, but it worked. It was fairly crowded and a mixed crowd. The cumin lamb was very good and wasnt gamey at all and vegetables seemed to be pretty fresh. The only dish that was pretty horrible was the metal pot casserole. Im forgetting the name now, but its a ubiquitous dish that almost all Chinese restaurants have. It not only didnt come in the namesake hot metal pot (just a plate), but the flavors were muted and completely off. When we brought up the problems the server just played it off as if different places have it differently (load of BS). We did ask for their suggestions/favorites and this one wasnt on their favorites so perhaps thats why. I wouldve expected their suggestions to be much better in flavor, so Im almost scared to try their other things then for fear of being subpar!Service was slow and they kind of forgot about us more than a few times.
Very happy with this place. The food came out super fast, which is always a plus for me. We got the Chongqing chicken, fish in chili broth, and the green beans dish---all staple Sichuan dishes and all fantastic! Service was decent, but typical of other small/family-run restaurants.
The plates can easily be shared with the table in a dining style that reminds me of Din Ho and other Chinese family dining style restaurants. A pot of steamed rice for the table is served along side the food on platters. The menu is split into 2 sections with newbies, the typical American Chinese dishes like sesame chicken, and foodies with authentic Chinese dishes. The plates have a decent serving of food to eat as a single serving or be shared. Most dishes are in the $11-15 range. The server got very busy but still stayed on top of everything. She was very friendly and frequently refilled my water despite being the only server in the front of house to run food, seat customers, wait on tables, and handle phone orders. The building may not look like much but be prepared to be surprised by the service and food. Ill certainly be making this a regular spot.
Excellent Szechuan food! We had a wonderful time. The menu has both Americanized Chinese food (on their “newbie menu”) and real deal Szechuan dishes on their “Foodie Menu”. The owners were on site and were both friendly and helpful. We told them what kind of ingredients we liked (a fish dish, a pork dish, a veggie dish, medium spicy) and she ordered for the table. It was fabulous! I highly recommend this place.
Ordered online - that was really easy, and the food was ready way faster than expected! I was ten minutes away when it was ordered and only waited a couple more when I arrived - tried the beef with broccoli, general tsos chicken, eggdrop soup and hot and sour soup. The only thing that wasnt awesome were the steamed dumplings - not the best Ive had. But the staff were very kind and sweet and I will order again!
The food definitely puts a lot of other Chinese restaurants in the Austin area to shame. Traditional Americans Chinese dishes are served here, but more authentic dishes like eggplant and hot pot are available as well.I ordered the twice cooked pork belly and eggplant with pork. The portions are definitely generous -- definitely bring friends so that you can order dishes and eat family style (sharing dishes) so you can try everything. The quality of the food reminds me of the restaurants in Chinatown in Houston. You probably wont find a better Chinese restaurant in Austin.
One of my favorite Sichuan places. I used to go to Asia Cafe for a Sichuan fix but this is another spot I would put in the same level. I went with a larger group of ten. We ordered twelve dishes and I dont think there was a dish anyone disliked. Everything was spot on with that distinctive Sichuan peppercorn flavor. Their Chongxing chicken was perfectly fried and crispy with a very robust flavor. Even their combination fried rice was delicious where I couldnt stop eating it. I would also recommend the salt and pepper squid. The fresh jalapenos and onions they use come through in flavor as well as the abundance of fresh garlic. Heaven for garlic lovers. Parking is free and easy which I am starting to prioritize a lot more these days. I highly recommend.
Piss poor service. I gave this restaurant two chances to get it right and they failed us both times. The first time I knew my food was ready but they had forgotten about me and I waited 20 minutes. I knew this because when I asked about my order the cashier quickly grabbed it. It was cold at this point. The second time I went alone and was told to sit down and wait to be seated. Two people walked in after me and as the waiter came back to the front, they were seated before me. Im on my lunch break and time is important. Piss poor service never coming back.
Most authentic Chinese restaurant in downtown Austin with very affordable prices. I prefer this location for eating in. Mongolian beef is great. Servers are always kind as well. There are other restaurants that are more expensive with better presentation but the food here is the best.
Very delicious!! The best Sichuan food I had in Austin thus far.The environment inside is super clean and home-y. The staff is super friends and welcoming!!!They have a menu selection for people first starting out Sichuan food and a separate selection for veteran eaters (つ✧ω✧)つsuper delicious. Super recommend. uwu
Dont let the generic name fool you - this place has great Szechuan food! We ordered the spicy fried fish and got a ridiculous mountain of perfectly crispy white fish with heaps of dried chilies and peppercorns. The mapo tofu and spicy grilled cauliflower are also delicious. We cant wait to go back!
China Familys menu is split in half, with food for Newbees consisting of tried and true Chinese Food restaurant fare (beef with broccoli, etc.), and for Foodies consisting of Szechuan dishes and less common offerings, many of which feature the distinctive, mouth numbing, Szechuan peppercorn, and many of which feature tripe and other organ meats. I confess I have had little interest in the Newbies menu, and have come here twice seeking Szechuan food. China Family does not disappoint. The flavors are fresh and bold, with generous hunks of garlic, fresh jalapeño and scallion throughout. The spicy dishes are truly spicy, and the portions are gargantuan. Seriously, two hungry grownups could split one dish and still have leftovers. Its not fancy - think paper napkins and cans of soda, and the entrées take a good 20 minutes to arrive, even when the place is not too full. And, most dishes dont have any automatic sides. Like if you order a chicken dish, you get a wonderful, huge plate of chicken, and some rice. Its a bit tricky to get a balanced meal for a small group without ordering an absurd amount of food. However, it fits the bill if youre looking for good Szechuan. Staff and owners are extremely sweet and friendly, as well as attentive. A chopstick was dropped and before it could be picked up the owner (the owner!) overheard them drop and brought a fresh pair. I will be returning regularly.
Fantastic Chinese. The two part menu, Newbie and Foodie, is a nice touch. The Foodie menu. Ideally, the food and portions are approached family style, but breaking the portions into a couple of meals works, too. The relatively small dining area can accommodate a couple of large parties.
Hands down, 100%, easily the best Chinese food in Austin. China Family is the best Sichuan food Ive had in my life. Stop reading these reviews, and call in an order! *protip: if they say 15mins for a pick up , get there in 20. This place has been crazy busy every time I order, and even though they are super efficient, expect a mild delay.
Authentic Sichuan - if you dont know truly appreciate what that means, only order from the Newbies menu. Otherwise, you can scale the pictured chicken from the Foodies menu, which was 1 of 3 peppers. Youll have to ask for fried wanton strips with your egg drop. Huge portions - probably one dish per two people if you dont want leftovers.
This place really surprised me. I didn’t think much of it passing by because several places have come and gone. We finally decided to try it and it is indeed Sichuan food with actual mouth numbing Sichuan peppers. I always order Mapo Tofu when I see it because it’s a comfort food for me but usually I’m disappointed. This was defiantly the best Mapo Tofu I’ve had in Austin. We also got the cold tripe dish and the pork belly. I’m not fond of tripe but the flavor was excellent and the pork belly was delicious as well. I can’t wait to go back and try more. I would say it’s also definitely the best Chinese I’ve had in Austin as well.
Great little Chinese restaurant hidden on airport Blvd. This building has been through its fire share of owners. We ordered the general Two chicken and Sichuan chicken. They were both very good.It looks like they also have some goos lunch specials as well! I think I will have to try them out for lunch obe od these days. With ordering the appetizer I had plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow
Super authentic Sichuan! I was floored. Not quite Houston-level but easily as good as Dallas. Everything is appropriately flavorful. The fish in the chili oil fish was fresh and not overly fried. The fuqifeipian aka beef in chili oil was about perfect, peanuts and celery leaves.
We waited close to 3 hours for our food that we placed an order for and had to eventually cancel. If you can’t fulfill the order, just tell us the truth instead of saying it’ll be out soon. Probably the most inefficient restaurant I’ve seen and no way to run a business.
If its possible to stan a restaurant, then I stan China Family — both at UT and this one at Highland Park. Also please order the stuff on the foodie menu, too many people make the mistake of ordering Chinese American dishes on the newbie menu when theyre missing out on the restaurants delicious Sichuan specialties!

2022-07-30Empty plates and bowls show how good these dishes are! HIGHLY recommend the eggplant with minced beef, beef in chili oil, and the salt and pepper tofu (if the chef is offering it). HINT: The back page is the good stuff.

2021-12-27My chicken was too small and dry, it felt like it was only batter.Flavor was great, but my Orange Chicken was mostly orange with no chicken. The largest pieces in my takeout dish wouldn’t have sufficed if they were the smallest pieces. Not even close to being worth it for $20

2022-02-08The combination noodle is great! There are shrimps, chicken, and meat inside. The serving is huge. I eat it for two meals actually😆😆The pot stickers are nice and the environment here is pleasant :)

2022-07-02Saw the ratings and wanted to try. I thought prices were a little high compared to most casual Chinese spots, but wow is it justified! I ordered a green bean and eggplant, extra spicy. Perfectly flavored, very large portion. Also had a kirin beer. Service was fast and good. Will definitely be coming back.

2021-11-13Great food, great service, very friendly stuff😊Each plates are a little pricier but the portion is also very much more so in the end, it is a great deal! You order a plate and it comes with unlimited rice too. HahaI really liked the place! Will come back for sure😋😋😋I shouldve taken better pictures and in the end, since did was so good, I forgot to take pictures of other plates🥲

2022-01-11My favorite Chinese restaurant of all time is The House of Three Gorges so I have a tendency to compare other Chinese food to theirs. Maybe not fair since it is my favorite. They are closed on Mondays so we gave China Family restaurant a try. Despite a review of the chicken being small pieces, dry, and mostly batter, my husband tried the sesame chicken and LOVED it. And he is super picky. Yeah, it’s a little on the pricey side but they have huge portions (enough for two meals). It wasn’t dry, the pieces were just right, and the flavor was great. We also had egg rolls and those were yummy too. I got the eggplant in garlic sauce which wasn’t my favorite. Not spicy at all (I think it differs from each place), didn’t pick up on any garlic, and was sort of tangy. Also, sweet which I think is normal. Would try something different next time. Our order was ready when they said it would be. Friendly service at the front of house.

2022-01-24Delicious Won Ton soup and Hot and Spicy soup. The Combination Fried Rice and Theice Cooked Pork Belly was outstanding! Treat yourself!
