Visited Mark today at his shop, I had read many reviews before going and the conflicting comments about his people skills. With that said he was very good to me and definitely knows what he’s talking about. When you’re at the store, respect it. You don’t flip through the comics like they are magazines in a doctors office. If it looks cool and you want to read it then buy it. It’s not a library it’s a store. We had some good conversation and I checked out the massive amount of comics he has to offer. I must say I was impressed. Had I taken some money for spending I would’ve definitely picked up a few Spider-Man/Venom books and probably would’ve tried to buy the Spider-Man comic box he has. I will definitely be returning when I’m in the market for some quality comics. He is currently prepping to move the store so it is an organized mess at the moment. You can still find what you’re looking for and I’m sure he’d know where it is if you asked.

I have been going to this store for YEARS - almost 30 years, actually. Mark always has always been helpful and knowledgeable about whatever I have needed regarding comics and collectibles specifically. Mark has a great sense of humor which I thoroughly enjoy.I dont live in El Paso anymore, but every time I pass through, I make sure to try to visit Mark and his wonderful store. Thanks, Mark!

This is a good place to go if you are looking for old collectors comics this is the place to go. If youre going to go buy comics for the first time this is a good place to go, he might not have the best attitude but the man has changed Ive read the reviews and some are from a couple years ago but this isnt a bad place he has over 100,000 comics you can buy from and even though he has all of those he knows what he owns and knows what he can help with. Great guy Ive gone twice and plan going on a regular base.

This is the first shop I bought comics from. Mark knows his comic lore maybe people dont like him but its a kind of unique experience to behold. If you dont treat the items in the store with respect of course he would get angry, his business is selling things at pristine conditioning so the value will be higher.

Mark is always really nice to me when Im there. Even the first time I went there a few moths ago he was nice and easy to talk to. He even holds comics for me sometimes. I couldnt really imagine him being as rude as some of these people say he is.

If you are going to defend the owner for being rude, and socially unacceptable, then you are also part of the problem here. I was in this store about six weeks ago. I wanted to sale some cards, and buy some Dr. Who items. Tried to ask this man a question, and he went off on a whole other thing. He wanted to talk about this, that, and the other. He was rude, and treated me as if I didnt know anything. He then made the mistake of standing at the door so I could not get out when I told him I would not be doing any business with him.If you are going to this place you need to rethink that. He is rude, crude, and just not good with people. Run from this place. Run!

This place is cramped. Boxes everywhere and unorganized. You cant even walk around in there. I was the only customer in the place and waited 10 minutes for the guy who works there to get off speaker phone with a friend. He finally hung up only to laugh at me when I asked him questions. He acts like your typical comic book elitist (think comic book guy from the Simpsons) and treated me like dirt. I walked out before he could finish talking. He wasnt willing to help me out with an event for the city so I called a more professional place. Dont give this guy your business. Not worth the time or a dime.

There is a reason why this shop has been around for 25+ years: Mark, the owner, know his stuff. When I started collecting comics I went to different stores, but this is the one I liked most. Been going there for 10 years now. The staff of this store is made up of only one: Mark.I see the other reviews regarding his bad attitude or bad tone of voice, but thats the way he speaks. You dont like it, go somewhere else. He wont be able to change his vocal chords for you. If you bring kids, just use common sense and keep your kids close, make sure they dont move or break something. Any store owner who deals collectibles will get pissy if you let your kids loose in the store. In my experience, he knows all about comics, sports, cars, collectibles in general, so its fun to talk to him about any of this when going to pick up my stuff, it makes the trip more worthwhile. He has a lot of back issues dating decades back, a nice stash of CGC comics for sale, plus if you have a pull bag, hell call you to ask if you want some variant coming out for a comic you might be collecting. Thats personalized service.Give this store a chance. If not, no need to whine, theres plenty of places to get your comics fix in town. -OY

Mark is the man! People hate on him cuz he is rude but thats just him. You cant change a person. I went in there to buy my first comics and I didnt care for his attitude because he provided what i wanted. He is the guy i go to for variants. He also hosts some really weird games that help you win more comics so thats pretty cool too. Dont hate on Mark. Doesnt matter if you dont go there cuz you dont hurt his buisness.

I basically only went here because it was the only LCS I hadnt been to in El Paso yet. I read the reviews beforehand, so I was planning to just not interact with the guy at all. I usually dont have any reason to talk to the shop owners in the first place unless they strike up conversation on their own, so I didnt think his infamous bad attitude would be an issue anyway. I was mostly correct...The real problem with this store for me was how horribly disorganized it was. The reviews also warned about this, but I thought the comics would just not be alphabetized very well; even some of the best stores in town have the same issue so I didnt give it much thought. But thats not it at all. Most of the boxes are piled all over each other, stacked up to four or five boxes high. I couldnt find any marking that would indicate whats inside each box. Maybe they exist, but theyre not very visible. The boxes also didnt seem to be the pull out kind that you can open from the front rather than the top. Im pretty short so even the boxes at the top of the piles were inaccessible to me, I might be able to open them but I couldnt see what was inside. There were some other boxes on a table that I COULD browse through, but these also had no markings so I would have to browse blindly.Again, theres other stores in town that have a few boxes where everythings out of order and if I felt comfortable in the store I wouldnt have minded taking my time to look through them. But theres nothing comfortable about this store. The space is tiny and with so much stuff all over the place, its pretty claustrophobic and difficult to walk through. I was also the only person in the store and I felt the owners eyes on me the whole time. Whenever I turned in the direction of the register I would catch him watching me like a hawk and he wouldnt even turn away after making eye contact, like a normal person. After a few minutes of me walking around, trying to figure out how in the world Im supposed to access the actual comics, Im pretty sure he started getting irritated with me. I could hear him scoffing and mumbling under his breath, it really creeped me out. Of course, I also didnt feel comfortable asking him to explain what order the stuff was in or if he had some of the titles Im looking for in my collection because Im fairly certain he would have made fun of me. I left empty-handed after a very awkward 15 minutes. I always buy at least one thing when I go into an LCS just to be polite, but I couldnt find anything, obviously. If youre gonna be a creepy old man, at least clean up your shop...
