Positive: Quiet! I had a room on the back of the hotel on the third floor. It was in back of a closet and so separated from the hall. The staff was excellent and friendly. Negative: I worked remote from the room for a week. The internet was kinda slow and I used my hotspot a few times. The desk is oddly spaced. I pulled it out so the ac could blow directly into the room. Why does the couch not have pillows?
The folks at Brownsville Courtyard were friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was clean ( we had the King standard). The sofa in the room looks good, but very awkward to sit on (should be replaced with better designed). The breakfast bar selection was excellent as far as could be expected during this pandemic.
Positive: The closeness to the beach- beach access Negative: All workers are lacking PR (Public Relations) perhaps ¿¿ they need training or a type of In service. it doesn¿t hurt to be kind and well mannered with people that are paying their salary. (I almost felt like telling them I am sorry for botherin
I was able to check in without having to wait after 3 and 4pm like most hotels. The staff was friendly. The rooms are a nice size and very clean. The rooms had Netflix and HBO. I stayed multiple days, the only thing is is that I wish they checked to see if I needed extra towels and trash dumped, instead of me having to find a housekeeper to let them know it needs done
I expected the bathrooms to be cleaner as the tub seem to be so rusty on the bottom and the tile had some red staining. Management seem to be rude by their tone of voice and careless with your needs. The rest of the staff seem nice. My husband made a complaint on the phone to the assistant manager (Elizabeth) due to my self waking up over 30 bites. Supposedly they didnt see any signs of bed bugs but I assure you they do. I expected to get a discount or something to that reason but they just moved us to a new room which was better than the other. Overall I would not return to this hotel.
Positive: A couple blocks from Starbucks. The gym is open. Nice staff, very welcoming. Nice renovation. I worked from the room for a week. Relatively quiet. I was on the backside. Negative: Stupid desk placement. It blocks the airflow. You can pull it out from the wall.
The customer service was great. Lobby and room was very clean. Cant say much of the other guests since I could hear them walking around above my room. I would expect some of that from hotels but some people seem to do it on purpose. Other than that everything was good. Will come back for sure.
This place was low class. Any Corp company want to rent here DON’T. We thought this place was just for guests but side gate was open and other people had access to the pool. We let front desk know about situation and nothing was done about it. We always stay at expensive places that are classy but this was opposite from that.
A good value like all Marriott Courtyards usually are. Clean. No complaints. Stayed there during this covid-19 nonsense. Got up too early so I was not able to picking up your little lunch bag with the prepackaged Danish or fruit was 7 a.m. I left before that. But at least they had something offered, many hotels were offering nothing at all.
I was staying at the Courtyard Brownsville for a Conference. As most people know that your hotel room is your escape from the conference and everyday monotony. This was the ideal room and probably the best I have stayed in since I dont remember when. The bed was very comfortable (pillow topper), the drapes ACTUALLY blocked out ALL of the outside light (thats a first for me), the A/C was COLD! (one of my must needs), also the staff was exceptionally courteous while staying; from the front desk to housekeeping to the staff serving breakfast. I actually was in a rush to leave the morning of my departure date and completely forgot my hanging cloths. I contacted the guest service staff and they said that they would send me my hanging cloths to me with no worry. I even tried to pay for shipping and they said that they had it handled. THAT right there is true customer service! Kudos to the guest service staff and everyone else who made my stay most enjoyable! I will most definitely be staying at the Courtyard Brownsville my next stay!
The staff was courteous and professional. It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed our stay. The pool area was clean with no problem finding chairs to lie down although they only had one table with a canopy so get to the pool area early. The overall stay was excellent. Will definitely stay at the Courtyard Marriott again. Keep up the great job!
Great experience with the staff. A gentleman by the name of Omar was very polite and attentive to our needs. He helped us get situated when we encountered a small problem during check in. He made our process so easy which is what we wanted since we were on holiday. After long travels no one wants to deal with problems, we just wanted to rest and start our next day of family vacation. The rooms were very clean and they had smart tvs in the room. The kids loved putting on Netflix to watch their favorite movies. Cant say how great this place was for us. We will definitely be visiting again and we know now what place we will be giving our business too.P.S Breakfast was AMAZING!
My recent visit to the Courtyard Marriott in Brownsville was pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is right off the highway. The room was clean and fresh. I encountered a minor issue with the shower not coming on. I made A quick call to the front desk and they had the maintenance person repairing the shower in minutes.
These facilities were excellent. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous and friendly. The room was very comfortable and had the amenities that made our stay more like home. The entire stay was outstanding making it so convenient to come and go as needed. Would recommend this place to all.
The level of customer service was not Courtyard level. I was not greeted or welcomed when checking in. I was only asked for my credit card and ID. I was eligible for an upgrade. He did not mention it or offer it. The hotel was old and tired. There was an odd smell on the second floor. In checking out, I was not asked how my stay was, I was only asked how I wanted my receipt. I was not even thanked for my business.I will be returning to Brownsville in a month. I will not be staying at this property, and I generally stay at Courtyard or Marriott properties. I have felt more welcomed at a Gas Station.
The entire hotel staff was absolutely lovely. From check-in to check-out and many days between I had the opportunity to call the Courtyard Marriott home. I felt that it was in a great location with more than plenty of restaurants and shopping near by. I felt safe, the hotel was clean, and although close to the freeway, I dont recall hearing any outside noise from the road.
I had to stay the night here before an early flight. Very nice property for only a bit more than the other properties near the airport, and it was TONS better than those looked. So glad I chose here. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. Great, super clean room too. And I used the airport shuttle at 3:30 in the morning and it was perfect.
Room was clean and attractively decorated. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen looked and felt great. Lobby was inviting, simple but well decorated. Staff was courteous and professional. Unfortunately, the coffee pot in my room was dirty, and I was awaken by several other guests showers because I could clearly hear the water running in nearby rooms.
This hotel had been flooded; it had an awful smell in the lobby and on the first floor. My fiancé and I got sick the following days from the smell. The wallpaper on the first floor have flood marks about a foot up. When I told the front desk about the smell, the clerk said he did not smell anything. I have stayed at many Marriott hotels and I have not had an experience like this one. I guess that is why this hotel was on sale for $80/night. I will not stay here again.Pros:PricePlush pillowsCold roomCons:Toilet did not flushNo USB ports in roomLobby/1st floor floodedAwful smellOutdated decor/electronicsUnhelpful front desk attendantFree breakfast not includedSmall roomsMinimal parking spots
This is probably our 5th stay with this hotel and weve have always felt welcome. Very friendly staff that gave us in fairly quickly. From the all the hotels in that area the interior is updated and has a modern look that we enjoy. The sofa in the room is great. The only thing I dont like is the set up of the TV location. From the bed the TV is at an angle and partially covered by a small wall.
Overall experience was good. The staff is nice and very polite. Some points of interest to Courtyard Marriott, Brownsville:1.You have to run the shower for a while until the hot water comes2.Rooms that are in proximity to the elevator/ice machine/pool experience excessive noise3.Some A/C units can be adjusted from the wall set, some only from the unit itself, despite of the presence of a wall set.4.Very soft pillows
I drove to Brownsville to visit a family member in the hospital, I didnt have a room reserved because I didnt know if I was going to stay with family. I ended up driving straight to the hotel at 12midnight and getting the room for two sites. The front desk attendant and the restaurant staff were all very efficient and friendly. They all made me feel welcomed! :)
If youre thinking of booking a Stay Pass with Marriot think twice. The early check-in/out is not guaranteed. The staff are not aware of such implementation. Youre supposed to get USD credit to use at the restaurant inside the hotel. Call the hotel before booking to confirm availability. In the hotel I stayed the restaurant was closed due to Covid-19 and there goes my USD credit.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying for leisure or business. The hotel staff were very courteous, the rooms are very clean and the grounds are nicely kept. I did not get a chance to eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food. I give this hotel a 5-star rating.
My family and I stayed at the Brownsville Courtyard when we went to South Padre Island and loved it. They had both regular pillows and feather which we llike. The bed was so comfortable! The room was nicely appointed and looked new. We would highly recommend this hotel. We plan to stay there again next time.
I had a fairly pleasant experience at the reception and in the room. But the staff at the restaurant/coffee shop got my orders wrong and when you point out that the orders have been messed up, they tend to have a very poor attitude. I felt abused and I will never come back again. I don’t have time for negative attitudes. Folks, you have been warned!
Everyone there was really attentive and nice. I had a issue with my bag at the airport and had driven all the way to Harlingen forgetting a contact phone number for my bag. I called the hotel and the front office night shift guy was very kind to go get the phone number from my room notepad. Also the lady from the restaurant bar was always very sweet and kind too. Everyone there really. I will definitely be back
Elevator doesn’t work. AC in the gym doesn’t work so it’s 80 degrees. Not well taken care of in general. Bad customer service. When we got there it took 20 min to check in because the guy kept answering the phone and couldn’t give us his attention 100%. The keys didn’t work so we had to go downstairs twice and if course the elevator doesn’t work so it took a while to get down. Very disappointed being a Marriott hotel.
I love walking into a place and everything is in its place, looks good, and smells good. As soon as I walked in the lobby, I notice the new look and décor and I loved it! My husband and I stay there when we travel together to Brownsville, so we have seen it before it was remodeled. I am a clean freak, so you know where my priorities are and where my eyes are focused. The internet looked very business like but friendly. The TV area looked very comfortable. Of course, we did not get to enjoy it because we were in and out getting ready for a family reunion and had to do quite a bit of shopping for a weekend. Maybe next time, we will take more time to enjoy your other amenities. I loved Marisela, the manager, she was very friendly and smiled and laughed the whole time we talked. I felt very much at home!!!! Thank you!!!
Sorry to say that the Marriott had been my second choice on my visit to Brownsville. The first location I stayed at, not a Marriott property, was unacceptable. I should have stuck with the tired and true Marriott from the beginning. From the minute I walked into the lobby, I knew I was home. After one night stay, I had a service issue that I wanted addressed and by the time I came back that evening the issue was resolved. Love the food at the Bistro. the hamburger was to die for and the fries were done to perfection. The morning fruit, granola and yogurt was delicious especially being topped off with the great coffee. Stay here again in a minute.
I like this hotel. The staff is always warm and friendly. The staff welcomes me every time I check in. I always try to book this hotel first every time Im in Brownsville. The internet is good and they now have the smart TV in the room. The internet isnt the fastest, bu it will work.I didnt use the workout room or pool. They do have a Starbucks in the lobby.
This hotel is far superior to any other you will find. They are accomodating. They have a bar and restaurant where they serve Starbucks coffee and delicious breakfast selections. They have wifi, computers and printers available to print. The rooms have microwaves and refrigerators. All decor is updated. Rooms and hotel always clean. But above all that, the way they will treat you as a customer is amazing. You will love it!
From the minute I placed reservations over the phone to the day I arrived...staff was kind and courteous. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable!!!! Anything I asked for I got....I asked for multiple towels three or four times and I was always given what I asked for. It was a pleasant stay!
Very clean and comfortable. Everyone is nice and willing to help. There is shuttle from the hotel to nearby restaurants and malls. There are microwaveable meals available for purchase. Regardless, this is a great hotel to stay at. There is also Starbucks coffee available for purchase at the hotel. Very good restaurant service, lots of meal options.
The hotel was great to accommodate my family to attend a funeral. Our stay was comfortable and very affordable. The staff was very nice and efficient. We had one little fall back on our last day but the staff was very apologetic and fix the problem as best as they cold.
I always stay at the Courtyard every time I visit Brownsville, because of the people! From the front desk to the clean/service/bar/restaurant workers, theyre all great and caring people. I highly recommend to everyone to stay and enjoy great hospitality from a great group of People! 5 star service! Props
The room was excellent. Had a fridge and microwave, nice touch. But the wi fi was the worst of all time!! I need to work in the room and was not able to!! 6 calls to their customer service did nothing but waste my time. Even their employees said that the service was bad. If you dont need to use a computer, its a decent place to stay. If you are like the other o9% of america that does need the computer, i highly suggest looking elsewhere!!!They also told me that they will call me back... That was 4 days ago. Still waiting on the call.
The Courtyard Marriott in Brownsville provides excellent accommodations for both business and leisure in a good general location for food, shopping and other interests with a staff that is fully focused on customer service. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the lobby and restaurant provided a nice, relaxing atmosphere. I shopped around before booking the Marriott and after staying there just once, I decided to make this our corporate hotel for the area. Overall I am extremely pleased with every aspect of dealing with this hotel.
I arrived at this hotel after moving from one in McAllen. This has the newer Marriott design and I managed to get the 1 bedroom suite. The room had a microwave and fridge with a wet bar. The downstairs ac had broken earlier but they were giving people bottles of water as a service. The TVs are internet connected with Netflix HBO Go, ect. Very welcome to have that. The staff was friendly and the bar area was nice.
Customer service was amazing from before we got there i was trying to use my points and reservations said they was booked I called and talked to Juan he put me on hold and made sure I got to use my points and able to stay at this location because all Marriott hotels said they was booked in area. When I got there I was exhausted dont remember the gentleman name but I showed up early but he made sure I was in process of getting a room cleaned. He let me stay in lobby and asked if kids wanted to go swimming while we waited. After he heard I had been driving all night to be able to take kids to South Padre for my daughters birthday he made sure that he immediately after room was clean and I got keys. The staff was wonderful here.
Good standard hotel at a decent cost as for my company rates.Clean and comfortable rooms - Only to improve air conditioning and minibar noise (bring ear-plugs)Staff very friendly and ready to help.Free shuttle to/ from airport and for local commuting to mall or restaurants nearby. No doubt a good choice.
The room was clean, furniture and décor up to date. The linens for the pull out bed wasnt clean and I would suggest using a detergent or fabric softner to make clean towels smell better. The water pressure was low and the elevator/hallways were hot! Other than that no other issues. The staff were very friendly.
Nice set up. Close to mall, restaurants and border. Rooms have a new unique set up which is nice. All have microwaves and fridges. Breakfast can be costly if not included in your rate ($12 for normal breakfast with O.J.). Nice pool area and fitness room.. plus you get free access to Gold Gym across the highway. Free shuttle to airport as well. Over all no negatives.

I stayed at this Courtyard for over 3 months. Their Bistro bar serves good breakfast (a little pricey If you don’t have status with Marriott) but they have a good selection of alcoholic beverages for happy hours.Ask for a room with balcony facing the front of the hotel if you enjoy watching the view.
Stay very frequently (many years) at same hotel. After recent refurbishment rates changed dramatically. Service is excellent, staff very friendly, but you pay for that. Now charging for everything, breakfast (was included in rate previous), internet if you want speed faster, etc.
The hotel was booked and approx. 15 rooms were from our family. The cooks, waitresses, and front desk did an amazing job handling all of our requests! Excellent job! Only housekeeping must have forgot we were there because we took our own trash out, made our own bed and folded in our sofa bed and had to track down maid for our towels. Also, being in charge of an ICU...if my staff is drowning I come out of my office, roll up my sleeves and help the staff.I wouldve like to see THIS Marriots Management help out when they saw the waitresses, cooks, and front desk busy, instead of hiding behind a wall and only showing up to ask the staff to do more. I felt bad for front desk personnel.
To start we had reservations at another Hotel. Called the other Hotel to confirm our reservation and room type plus asked for early check in they day before. Upon arrival next day asked for early check in but staff said no room was available at this time. But to come back in 3 hours. We did just that. Just to find out that the only room available was smoking. So I called the Marriott and was promptly taking care of. The staff was attentive and courteous. Me and my family was saved. Thank you
Check in was simple. The Bistro (restaurant attched) is pretty expensive. There are half a dozen other places to get a bite and a drink from in a 3 block radius. Not to mention they offer you a free shuttle service elsewhere. Even the breakfast prices are ridiculous. As for the room -- its clean and comfortable, but the shower has no hit water, so thats a ding.
Came here for a funeral. The sliding glass door would not lock, sheets had pubic hair along with, what seemed like someone shaved their hair, not to mention the phone did not work! As two women traveling alone, we felt uncomfortable and they refused to accommodate us. I will say someone came and drilled a bar on the sliding glass door and we made our own beds, missing sheets! I didnt mention someone trying to enter our room!
The facility appeared to be remolded recently and was very clean. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. We ate breakfast at the facility each morning and were very satisfied with the food and service. We have stayed at other Hotels in the area in the past and have never been as pleased as we were with this hotel. We will use this hotel in the future.
A/C was broken. Room temperature was 84 degrees. Let front desk know. Janitor came to our room to attempt to fix 2 times. No luck. Front desk rep came 2 times with no luck. We insisted on being moved to a different room. We were told no and to see if AC would work. We kept calling and front desk would answer and hang up on us. Finally, at 2 am the front desk rep gave us a different room. The hotel waits until 2 am to conduct an audit. Any empty room by that time is released for use. Therefore, potential customers for these empty rooms receive better customer service than the customers already there! Needless to say, my kids did not sleep! We were sweating and then moved at 2 am. Disappointing for this chain!
This location is extremely understaffed. But the few people they do have working there work there hearts out and did everything possible to make my stay comfortable and made sure I had everything I needed. Always service with a speedy smile and good attitude. Again, I did feel bad that on a weekend this location was running on 2 people it seemed like. The staff and customers deserve better than that.
I really appreciated the Netflix feature on their TV. It definately gave me something to do! Other than that though I didnt do much. The bed/pillows were really comfortable so I slept well. The only bad thing that happend during my stay was that I lost a pair of socks, but that was more my fault.
I left to visit the city and when I returned, my door was left open. Luckily no one went in that I know of.I was told that maintenance would come to check on the door, but no one came. I paid for one more day, and left because my family didnt feel comfortable not knowing our things were safe. Now Ill have to pay for another room somewhere else. Lady at the desk didnt seeded concerned that we were checking out early.
My own experience with Marriott Brownsville and Marriott Harlingen were excellent for me and my family. They are comfortable and easy to move. You feel at home. All personnel are very efficient and kind. Inside you have all the services for a wonderful stay. Even if you have not a car, they give you the service and support. I deeply recommend them. Twice a year, when I travel to Brownsville or Harlingen I am sure my family and me will be very well! The services at Marriott Reforma were excellent! Restaurant and place. It is very easy to move in the city and you feel safe and comfortable.
I was there recently with a group of 20 people (Bay Area Border Relief) and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us even keeping the kitchen open when we got back late from our work. In particular the hotel manager, Yuli at the breakfast counter, and Maribel at the bar were shining stars.
I was caught in a major thunderstorm at 11:30 PM. I stopped at the Courtyard Brownsville and the Night clerk quickly set me up with a room. In 10 minutes I was in a clean comfortable room. I was out of the rain and browsing the Internet. I had a great stay with excellent service.
I normally stay at the Marriott and its a good stay. But on my last stay it seemed like its under new management (jennifer). The food was bad, my room had to be changed and they charged me incorrectly for my room. I wish I could go back and give the Marriott another chance. But I dont know that I will
Came from Dallas to Brownsville for a flag football tournament. After reading reviews for Holiday Inn, Comfort inn, and Courtyard I had a hard time choosing because they all had fairly good ratings. What made the Courtyard stand out from the rest is that they offered a group rate for people who were here for the tournament. I called the other 2 options and inquired on wether or not they offered a group rate for tournament and I was told no, however, they would be willing to lower cost so that I would not cancel my reservation. I do appreciate both hotels (Holiday inn and comfort) and their generous offers, but Courtyard still offered best rate. Not only that but staff was very, VERY accommodating, and gracious from the lady at front desk to the maintenance man who assisted me with my a.c. and directions to a local store. Ok, last but not least, rooms were very nice clean and comfy
It was an excellent experience to spend One night at the Courtyard by Marriot before going to South Padre Island. It is a very comfortable hotel where you can enjoy a nice pool and an excellent personal will make you feel that you do not want to leave. I will do the same stop before going to South Padre again.
Had to go back to Brownsville on Biz again, was told this is the best in town and it is by far!Staff was friendly, hotel was clean and updated and the Sales Manager even helped me hire a Security company to get me safely to and from my customer in Matamoros.Made my trip better!
This property was the host hotel for the University of Texas-Brownsville annual Guitar Ensemble Competition, one of the nations top guitar ensemble competitions. This property was clean, comfortable and provided ample space to socialize with other attendees. There was also a host breakfast which was well organized.
The Courtyard in Brownsville is my go to place when I go there. The location is convenient, most of the staff are super friendly and accommodating. Depending on the location the rooms may be noisy due to the highway being close. Internet is not so great - drops frequently.
Considering the hotel is right next to a highway, it is very quiet within the Marriot. I was visiting the motel for a blood drive and from what I saw, the Marriot is pretty well kept, keeping a nice formal look. In the lobby was a starbucks/bar with a pretty nice selection for people to choose from. I recommend this place for any out of towners that want something formal but not to expensive.
Arrived to find a broken ac unit. It took several walks to the front desk (no one answered the phone or returned calls as promised) before I was told couldnt get it repaired due to the time (1230 am, 3 hours after being reported upon arrival) was offered a fan and a free sandwich when a refund or new room was requested.
As much as I stay at Marriotts i can say this one is at the bottom of my list. Lady at the front desk did not give me the proper welcome. I had to ask about breakfast, location of the elevator, etc. She also said breakfast was free. The other employee said i had to pay for it. ( Platinum Elite Membership Status doesnt mean anything here) i asked her for 3 extra towels and i recieved a face like of she was gonna have to make them or something. When I asked for change to dry a load of clothes. They had no coins. HORRIBLE expierence, not ever coming back. No one here is on the same page.

2022-04-18A good courtyard with breakfast, plenty of parking, a friendly staff and clean rooms. Mostly newly remodeled, so pretty clean/modern. There is that odd new courtyard smell in the common areas, but otherwise a great hotel.

2022-02-15I absolutely recommend this place! From service desk to morning breakfast staff are so nice and very friendly! Rooms are fresh clean, again its Marriott so expect the good clean rooms

2021-07-07Staff was very friendly and attentive. Although it had a continental breakfast, it had a good selection. Kids enjoyed the pool, but a hot tub would have been great. AC unit was loud and had to keep adjusting to cool room. Once on the right setting it worked fine. Make sure to ask for extra towels, when you check in. We were heading to SPI, so this location was around a 40 minute drive with a ton of eating selections nearby. I would stay here again, if I couldnt stay on the island due to cost or vacancy.

2021-10-12I travel seven days at a time every other week all year long. I have stated many different hotels and extended-stay facilities across the country. This Courtyard hotel was clean, quiet, and had some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever come across. They were inherently helpful and always had a wonderful smile. In addition to breakfast in the morning was fresh and served with kind wishes. I would recommend to others who might be staying in Brownsville for pleasure or business.

2021-07-06I enjoyed my stay at the Courtyard. It is pet friendly which I can really appreciate since I was traveling with my dog. The hotel is clean and grounds well maintained which is hard to find with pet friendly hotels. They gave me a room with easy access to their back pet friendly area to take my dog out when needed. The grass was well maintained so I felt comfortable taking my dog out there. The staff was very nice and hotel in general was clean!

2021-08-08The hotel was fine…the service was good but we could not enjoy being outside at night because of the mosquitoes!!! I told the hotel about it and they said they knew but was nothing they could do! We only went to the pool during the day, but that was just once because we had other activities planned during the day. The mosquitoes were about as big as flies or bees!!! Just horrible!

2021-06-02Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. staff were exceptional and very accommodating. room was ok. breakfast staff were fantastic! had two problems. 1) bathroom fan doesnt work... they arent ready fans but exhaust vents and 2) my neighbors were smoking dope openly in the hotel. I reported to front desk, and staff promptly sprayed for the smell but didnt remove the guests. would return again, however.

2021-10-14Buildings smells of mold or mildew issues as soon as the front doors open. This carries through the building. There are no circulation fans in the bathrooms of the hotel room which is a likely cause. Breakfast provided is pathetic. Our milk was bad and none of us drank it. Since cereal, oatmeal, and a burrito were the only food choices we just left and ate breakfast elsewhere.I definitely will not stay here again.

2021-06-12Positive: The staff was really great. Nice renovation. It appeared the maintenance was good. Negative: The desk and furniture is odd. Not bad, but I moved the desk out to allow airflow from the ac unit.
