I joined in July 2019 & was welcomed into a phenomenal community centered in great, knowledgeable coaches. Since then, my CrossFit SoChac journey has taken me through many milestones; most notably 70lb weight loss & a plethora of other corresponding health benefits. Highly recommend.
Crossfit Sochac has a wonderful community and spectacular coaches. I coached crossfit for 3 years and it was really hard to find a community that was like my first gym. I wanted to find a place that I felt safe and included. It doesn’t matter whether you are an advanced athlete or if you’ve never worked out a day in your life. Crossfit Sochac will have your back through it all. The community will make you feel at home and the coaches will help you scale the workouts as needed. It’s a great place for anyone ready to make a change in their health journey.
I first had the pleasure of going to CrossFit Sochac for a friends bachelorette workout a few years ago. Since then I have become a member and the community this gym has built is unrivaled. The coaches care so much about each of their members and I always walk out of a workout feeling great. If you are looking for a gym to drop in, to become a member, or to just attend with a friend, I can’t recommend CrossFit Sochac more.
From the coaches, to the athletes down to the daily workouts, Sochac is my absolute favorite place in Austin. Every single coach is invested in your development and want you to succeed. You will not be disappointed. Try them out and get ready to fall in love with your transformation.
I am very satisfied with my decision to join CrossFit SoChac. Prior to joining, I had spent several years being physically inactive. I had previously paid for various memberships in the past, but never followed through…letting my fears of starting a new discipline get in the way of my success. After my initial meeting with Heather (owner/coach) she reccomened a handful of foundational skills personal training. Since I am new to CrossFit, it made sense I would need to learn the basics before jumping into a group class. I worked with Amanda the first 2 weeks, and it was a great introduction into what to expect in group classes. Amanda is very knowledgeable, patient and supportive during her sessions, and helped me to be confident enough to show up for my first group class.The group classes are are always challenging, but I don’t feel defeated by any physical limitations. The workouts are hard, and you WILL be challenged no matter what your fitness level is. I really like how we can tailor our workouts to compensate for any limitations, and still workout as a group. In addition, the coach is very hands on with correcting form and motivating each person in the group class. Also, every member of this gym has been very welcoming and friendly/supportive. Some workouts we complete partner exercises and I’ve never felt awkward about pairing up with somone.The main reason I have had success at SoChac is beacuse I feel more accountable with this gym/community. This gym is intimate enough that your presence is noticed, and you are able to have accountability with the coaches and fellow athletes. I have been attending classes for about a month, and I already feel stonger, less anxious and more confident in my daily life. I love the feeling of accomplishment I get everytime I complete another workout. I highly recommend SoChac for all your fitness goals.
I have been a member at CrossFit Sochac for almost a year now and it is easily one of the best decisions I have made! All of the coaches are patient, attentive, and most importantly, they CARE. They offer a variety of programs like group classes, personal training, special weightlifting coaching, nutrition coaching - something for everyone.
This is the best gym hands down- when I arrived, I was about 40lbs over weight, high blood pressure, acid reflux, sleep apnea, among other things- and my doctor wanted to put me on prescription pills and a CPAP mask for breathing at night. I walked out of there wondering how I let myself go so bad and decided I needed something besides pills to get my body back in order. I found Crossfit SoChac through a recommendation from Airrosti. It completely changed everything for me, and thats no exaggeration. When I walked in and met/spoke with Heather- I instantly felt I made the right decision; next thing you know I was on their crossfit and nutrition tracks and started working with Heather, Josh, and Amanda (nutrition) and never looked back. A few months later I went back to the doctor and they thought their equipment was malfunctioning because all my vitals were the complete opposite from just a few months earlier and all my chronic ailments were gone- sleep apnea, acid reflux, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.- all of it gone 100% and I felt 10 years younger, without any pills or breathing masks :)Its been about 3 years and I still am part of this gym. Their meticulous focus on technique and excellent form is unlike other gyms Ive tried, where most instructors point to the workout on the whiteboard, turn on the clock/music, and go in the corner to check their FB. The coaches at CS are ON POINT, watching you the whole time like a hawk, making sure you are using the perfect form on every rep, and if youre not, theyll come over and work with you to correct anything- this seems small, but its literally the difference between getting injured or staying healthy and making gains. Im almost 40 and Im in the best shape Ive been since my late teens/early 20s. On top of it all, the coaches are a great, positive, growth mindset group that dont judge, criticize, nor insult anyone. They are of the mindset of lifting others to become the best versions of themselves and are a source of non-stop positive energy. Try them out, I guarantee theyre the best gym out there (not just crossfit, but any gym in general).
CrossFit Sochac has really figured out how to tailor each of their members experiences to what that member wants/needs the most. The Coaching Team is thoughtful, empathetic and is genuinely interested in taking the journey with their members and not just watching from afar. Fitness to them, is not a destination, it’s not an event but it is a journey and their passion for sharing that journey shows through in every session, discussion and social event.If you’re looking to have some passionate, talented and fun people to walk your journey with you I would highly recommend CrossFit Sochac. They have taken me to places I never thought I’d go!
I havent felt this good in years!In 2017, I was hit by a uninsured motorist which left me pretty badly hurt. My neck and shoulder issues limited me for nearly 4 years until I joined this gym.My neck and shoulder are gaining so much strength. I rarely wake up with the numbness and pain from my herniated discs.I was hesitant to join given my injuries and the CrossFit stories. The doubt was quickly lifted within a few weeks. The coaches take their time to teach you the mechanics and motions of the lifts.The coaches are very in tune with your progress, limitations and rest needs. Ive been told a few times to take some days off to recover. Something I find to be incredibly important in a sport like CrossFit.Overall the price, flexible schedule / options are a great reason to join. More importantly, the 1-1 care of the staff is the reason Im still a member.Highly recommend trying it out.
Being brand new to crossfit, I was very nervous about joining a gym, but thanks to the knowledgeable instructors and welcoming atmosphere that surrounds everyone at SoChac, I have felt right at home!! The workouts are hard, but doable for all workout levels, and the instructors are knowledgeable and make sure everyone is doing the exercises correctly! The Elements classes you take before jumping in to your first class are also great; they ensure you have the knowledge to do varying exercises efficiently and safely! I would recommend this gym to anyone looking to take the leap and start crossfit, or to those that are seasoned veterans. This gym is awesome and set up to meet the needs of everyone; you definitely wont be disappointed!
Great gym! They have CrossFit, mobility, and weightlifting classes throughout the week. Jenn, the weightlifting coach really hones in on your form, so if you want to improve your Olympic lifts, her weightlifting classes are a must! The CrossFit programming follows comp train, generally. Workouts are pretty challenging. Coaches always give you that extra push when you think you can’t keep going. They have early classes at 5:15am and as late at 7pm, and they always prioritize safe CrossFit. Overall, if you like to fitness (or want to start), and love to see improvement you will like this gym! Give it a try!
I have been with Sochac for a little over two years now. When I decided to try Crossfit, I shopped around. After trial classes at the other two gyms in the area I checked out Sochac and the third time was the charm!The gym was clean, the class was small, everyone made me feel welcome, and the coach was very attentive and professional. The other two gyms were a much shorter commute, but paled in comparison. Sochac sets an incomparable standard.Joining Sochac was the best decision I have made. The coaches and members truly care about you. I love Sochac, this place is my rock!
Ive been doing CrossFit for a little over 2 years now, and this gym is AMAZING!!! Crossfit SoChac is amazing! All the coaches are so nice and helpful and they really try to spend time with you during the workout to help you improve your movements. Plus everybody is very friendly and makes you feel welcome! I can wait to keep getting better and see results! :)
CrossFit SoChac is an amazing place for people to get involved in an exercise program that is often looked at as overly challenging and intimidating. SoChac takes out the intimidation factor and provides a welcoming environment that embraces people of all levels coming in for the common goal of getting healthier and stronger. I am a former athlete that was never properly taught weight lifting mechanics. I was so intimidated by CrossFit and how you have to be so strong to participate. When I came into CrossFit SoChac, they are so welcoming and will work with you to make sure your mechanics are on point. Once you nail the mechanics, the improvements are endless and it is so empowering to see how much you have succeeded and grown from your first WOD. Try this place out! You will NOT be disappointed!!!
Im not a gym or CrossFit person, but a friend recently invited me to join him for a morning workout with Heather at CrossFit SoChac. If youre like me -- more sedentary than you used to be (or want to be) -- Id highly recommend you give these guys a try. Ill be going back. A really hard workout for sure, but fun. It appealed to my competitive nature. Heather really pushed me to do my best, and the regulars who made everything look easy were supportive and helpful. Highly, highly recommended!!!
Crossift Sochac is awesome!!! The coaches here will definitely create a comfortable environment no matter what level of fitness you currently are in. Every class I attend I feel my form and strength improving. My physical abilities have enhanced so much since day one I stepped into this box. I played with the idea to join crossfit for about 5 years and now wish I had done it sooner.....dont make my mistake. If you are looking for great coaches and a good community this is place to be.
Absolutely the best thing Ive done this year, was joined this amazing place! I was very new to crossfit, and to be honest new to any kind of strength training. Ive only jogged. I was nervous, scared and decided to jump right into a beginner challenge that has transformed my way of exercising and eating. There are people encouraging you, motivating you, and directing you to get the most out of your workout and life.
Absolutely love this box! The new owner and head coach has really set Crossfit Sochac apart from all the rest for me! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to making the members a better version of themselves. The atmosphere is encouraging and you truly feel like everyone is family! I encourage anyone who is thinking of giving Crossfit a try to come by and drop-in on a class! I promise you wont be sorry!
I highly recommend this gym/box!-Price: Excellent: I shopped around and in this area the price point is pretty solid for what you are getting.-Environment: Excellent: What you expect from a xfit gym/box in an industrial park. Being in Texas, those summer runs outside are brutal with the heat. The ventilation in this facility is very good: large industrial ceiling fans and the large ground fans keep the inside pretty cool. During the WOD we jam out to music playing throughout the inside speakers. There is a small AC area/lobby as well where some members have their kids hang out while they work out.-Equipment: Normal: Everything is up to par. Very clean, and organized.-Coaches: Excellent: It is very apparent they all know what they are doing. In addition to being masters of their craft, they are also really personable and easy to get along with. It seems like the coaches know all of the members by name and are really invested in establishing and maintaining genuine relationships. A few times when I was nearing the end of a WOD and my form was failing and my motivation was diminishing- the coaches were there to push me and make sure I was maintaining correct form. I came in an hour early twice by my own mistake (not checking the schedule) and did the daily WOD by myself- during this time the coach that was there took their time to sit with me and go through the WOD and set the timer up for me etc, etc.-Community: Excellent: Members are super friendly and encouraging. I have walked in to some gyms and felt intimidated being the new person on more than one occasion. Walking in to this gym was pretty easy going- the coaches being super friendly and accommodating helped with that. After attending a few classes, I got to know some of the members who frequented the same class times as me, and now know a few people by name and feel comfortable when being paired up for partner WODs. They also organize events outside of the gym, like volleyball and happy hours etc etc.I started here roughly 2 months ago, 2 weeks after our daughter was born. It had been ~1 year since the last time I did a WOD and I was ready to get back in to the swing of things. I let myself go over the year my wife was pregnant and was feeling pretty rough and out of shape.From the moment I stepped in the gym I felt right at home. Coach Heather got me set up with my membership (and helped me do the daily WODs on my own when I showed up early on a couple occasions), and Coach Freddie was my first coach- that first WOD with Freddie was TOUGH, but I felt great for it. At the end of the day I knew I was hooked and ready to start going in on crossfit again.Ive had the chance to work with most of the coaches and they are all great (Id like to give a shoutout to coach Amanda, who has, on a couple occasions pushed me to finish a WOD when my energy was spent, and made sure I was keeping good form) - I even did a couple of the strength training classes with Coach Jen which were awesome too.My family is now moving at the end of the month and unfortunately I will have to leave this gym. The coaches were kind enough to recommend a couple of gyms in my new area. That said, I will probably still drop in at this box and do a class from time to time. I am very glad I got to spend a few months here, as this has renewed my love for crossfit.
Intimidated by CrossFit? Yeah, so was I, BIG TIME. I was a Division 1 athlete and no stranger to weight lifting or working out, but the idea of CrossFit scared the CRAP out of me. I had threatened to try it at least 10 times over the course of a year, and always chickened out last minute. Not only did the mortification of throwing up in front of strangers scare me, but I didnt want to get sucked into the CrossFit Cult, like many of my friends had. Then one day I drove by CrossFit Bulletproof on my way to work and decided I needed to suck it up and head in, and I must say it was a great decision. Not only does Philip know what hes doing, but he also knows how to gauge each individual and their level of fitness personally. I had only seen CrossFit competitions and pictures online, so I assumed I was expected to walk in on day one and dead lift 400 pounds and do 300 pull ups in 5 minutes, and for the first time ever, I was happy to be dead wrong. Philip is patient, he wont let you hurt yourself, and if he thinks it is technique you need to work on, he may have you drop the weight all together and use a PVC pipe until you get it right. Its an exciting and frightening drive each morning not having a clue what that days workout will be, and he will undoubtedly make you work your butt off, but when it is over, it is SO worth it. If you have even one small competitive bone in your body, this is what you should be doing, and if you want to do it in the Austin/Buda/Kyle area, you should be doing it at CrossFit Bulletproof. Not only is it a great workout, but the pricing and class time flexibility is pretty much the best I have come across (and like I said, Ive looked into a LOT of CrossFit boxes). No one here pushes the cult on you, we all just want to be the best versions of ourselves we can be, and we all love a little friendly competition! I work hard at not being corny, but it is amazing the friendship/family dynamic that has been created at CrossFit Bulletproof, and Philip is the patriarch who has laid a foundation to help make us all healthier and happier.
THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!! when I started up here at Bullet Proof I was living a seditary life style and had very limited motivation to do anything about it. Since joining I have found out that crossfit becomes more of a passion than a workout. Phillip is a awesome trainer who will motivate you to find and transform into that person you want to be. I highly recommend crossfit but I will encourage all to try it out here at bullet proof. I say this because with the great people, and and awesome trainer there is no doubt in my mind that this will be the start of something amazing for you in the coming future.
Phillip is simply the best at what he does. He recognizes your potential and pushes you to it. He encourages you while taking you out of your comfort zone. I have tried different Cross Fit programs and this is by far, the most stimulating, challenging, and exciting work out I have ever done, not to mention the INCREDIBLE work out involved- mentally and physically. This is the place to get your perfect beach body as well as your perfectly harmonized mind.
If you want results without spending hours wasted at the gym, feel free to swing by Crossfit Bulletproof. I’m not one to jump on band wagons, but after trying everything else to get back into shape and stay healthy I stopped in and talked to the owner Philip Tamez. His a great guy and Phil has done an outstanding job at hiring the right motivated trainers to share his dream of getting people into shape and back on track. And don’t think for a minute that this place is just for hardcore physical perfect gods, pounding weights and protein shakes. You’re going to find a lot of normal people wanting to learn how to do a power clean, and wall ball correctly. So if your on the fence about what crossfit in town you want to trust, look no further. I tried about 4-5 different crossfit company’s before I found my home at Crossfit Bulletproof.
I hadnt worked out in years and decided to join Crossfit Bulletproof to improve my health and tone. I was intimidated, not knowing what I was walking into and hearing that it was tough. Philip and the others definitely challenge you, but dont push you to overdo. They even modify workouts to lower impact so that you can ramp up to the full exercise without hurting yourself. If youre afraid of looking stupid or being the most out of shape person there, dont worry, Ive already paved the way. Go check em out.
Being in team sports all my life, Crossfit is EXACTLY the type of workout plan I was looking for!! You get to know everyone that you workout with and have this One-on-One type atmosphere with a well educated, not to mention HUNK to look at, Coach Philip Tamez. He is changing my life one day at a time and not only making me stronger but more confident in everything I do. Not to mention he offers AMAZING PRICES and a great BOX (crossfit term) for you to get the body that youve always dreamed about!!
The atmosphere at Crossfit Bulletproof is friendly, competitive but simultaneously cooperative, and energetic. People are happy to be there.Phillip, the owner, seems to be a really good guy.In this area there are like 5 boxes, from what Ive seen, CF BP offers the best pricing for unlimited access.
Ive been going to Bullet Proof since it opened and have been working out with Philip a year before that and Ive never been in better shape! It sounds cheesy, I know, but its the truth. Ive seen the change in my workouts, Im a lot stronger. Ive seen the change outside the gym from running to rock climbing and Ultimate, Im faster and stronger and Ive also seen it at home, I sleep a lot better. Its true, CrossFit isnt cheap but its worth it, Bullet Proof has a competitive price and flexible class times (most days Im in early at 6am, but if Ive got to change it up I can jump into another class), fun/challenging weekend Team WODs and group events. Philip is interested and committed to seeing me get healthier and stronger, when it comes down to it, Ill pay for that kind of attention every time. I think CrossFit is pretty cool, Ive played sports all my life, I know what a hard workout is but man, every morning I show up and I know the WODs going to kick my butt and thats why I keep coming back!
Best CrossFit Ive been to. I live an extremely busy life and Philip provides a schedule solution that meets any hectic day I have. Fun, motivational, and can truely say that thanks to Philip I am back into my pre-pregnancy size! I feel great, healthy, and this is a lifestyle that is fun and easy to live. Ive never been the sporty type and so making this change seemed impossible. You see the crossfit cult types on TV and this is nothing like it... just a big family of people looking to achieve things they never had... in a positive way... together. Thanks Philip!
Philip Tamez is the owner and head trainer, and he helped me change my life. After years of not working out I had packed on the pounds. Through steady training, and encouragement I was able to drop 50 lbs last year. Philip Tamez has changed my life through crossfit. His program is great and knows how to challenge everyone of us, from a beginner to an advanced crossfitter. Really, stop the looking and research now, this is the place, Philip absolutely knows what he is doing. All while keeping you safe, injury free, and steadily progressing in a fun friendly team environment. I grew up always being the skinny, no....scratch that, the scrawny guy. No matter what I did in a gym or how much I tried to force feed myself, the GAINZ were impossible with the end result always the same, noodle arms, flat chest, fluffy gut, chicken legs. Being a dad of 5 with a fulltime job, I always used the excuses of I dont have the time and I cant afford it. Those of course were excuses, because we all should have the time for our health, plus Philips class are quick and structured therefore utilizing and making the most of your time. And as far as affordability, Philip has the best deals around. And again, your health comes first, dont let price be the reason you are not taking care of you.So back to the scrawny skinny guy that first signed up with Philip 2 years ago. Lets go over the things I could not do. I could not do an air squat. I could not hold up a 45lb Olympic Bar in the rack position much less over my head nor did I even know what Olympic lifts were. I could not do a pull up. I could not balance on one leg. I could not vertically jump more than a few inches. I could not run ONE lap without have to stop and pray for my lungs to get oxygen again. I could not play with my kids without being sore for days. I could not sleep thru the night. I could not take off my shirt at the pool or beach without being totally embarrassed.Today, I can squat clean 235lbs. That bar I could not hold up, I can jerk 200lbs overhead. My back squat is in the 300lb club. My deadlifts are a few pounds shy of 400lbs. Pull ups....check. And lets add a muscle up to that as well. Stand on one leg....I can stand on my hands. The box jump that was a few inches high is now almost 4 feet high of stacked boxes. The one lap I could not run, I can now easily run 5 miles with my teens at any moments notice. My sleep is peaceful at night and my days are full of energy. 30lbs of add muscle later, no more embarrassing pool parties. Added bonus....fellas, do you remember growing up as a teen wishing you could dunk a basketball? I have been 511 since I was 17 years old and never had that explosive power in me. Not in my teens, not in my twenties. But today at the 35 years of age, there is some hops.All this came with the patience and training of Philip. Everyday he is still teaching me something new. And all that I mentioned above is the bells and whistles. Your most important GAINZ will be the physical and mental health, and saving the best for last, the friends and community you will gain. 2022-06-23SoChac is by far the best gym I have ever been a part of. Every coach here is friendly and also genuinely invested in your success and growth. From day one, they make you feel like family. The classes are challenging, but fun, and most importantly the coaches are always happy to accommodate movements and workouts based on fitness levels and abilities. I truly cant say enough wonderful things about this gym, would recommend to anyone.

2022-01-20Ive been to quite a few gyms in my 46 years and this CrossFit gym is absolutely amazing. Their attention to detail and how they truly care about their peoples health and safety is unmatched, at least in my experience. Heather, Amanda, Josh, and Jenn are very skilled coaches that take the time to explain every lift and action to make sure its done correctly. I love this place! If youre looking to find a great CrossFit gym with people that really care, come visit this one.

2022-01-31I joined Crossfit SoChac in Spring 2021 and I cant say enough good things about it. The staff and people are incredibly nice and welcoming. The community they have built is outstanding. As for the coaches, they are very personable, smart, and attentive during class. If you are looking for a gym to train for fun or competition I would highly recommend this one!

2022-07-12I have been a member for over a year. The coaches Heather, Amanda , Sandra and Josh are awesome. They are knowledgeable and try their best to give individual attention and corrects form to avoid injury in a group class. The gym is clean and well maintained. Lauren in athlete relations does a great job following up with the athletes if they have been out for a while. I highly recommend for anyone who would like to try crossfit.

2021-12-27Such an awesome gym! You really get a warm family vibe from this place. I came in a year ago with zero CrossFit experience, very nervous - but the SoChac coaches would always be happy to work closely with you to make you feel comfortable. The members are also great and fun to workout with. This CrossFit thing was originally supposed to be a “let’s just try this thing out for a month and see how it goes” and now I’m a full blown member, challenging myself and reaching goals. Highly recommend SoChac!

There are entry of gyms that preach community, but SoChac is one of the special few that really lives it.The coaches too are very knowledgeable and well trained. They push you out of your confort zone while also making sure you are safe in the movements you are attempting.Absolutely recommend this gym to anyone interested!

2022-07-19I was initially hesitant to join a CF gym, I had just seen too much negative coverage over the years. However, the intensity and accountability of a group was something I was seeking. I met with the coaches and immediately was disarmed, they are very interested in my goals and making sure the WODs are executed safely. The environment is stellar, and the community is very inviting and friendly. The coaches are all solid, Im glad to have found this gym. If youre looking to start a CF membership, this is a good place to be.

2022-02-07Can’t speak highly enough of the coaching and the environment at the gym. The coaches are knowledgeable, thorough, caring, and careful. They focus on form, and encourage you to work at weights/intensities/movements that are suitable for you. They are also wonderful cheerleaders and celebrate your wins with you. 2022-08-18This box became my second home while visiting my parents for 6 weeks. I got a drop-in membership and came 5 days a week. This box is amazing!! The coaches are phenomenal. They are so thorough and detailed in their coaching. They truly pay attention to all athletes. The WODs are challenging and fun. My strengthen, endurance and fitness has increased significantly since I have gone here. This will definitely be my go-to box when I come to visit. I highly recommend this box to anyone looking for a CF home or a drop-in box during a visit.
