Food was AMAZING and soooo good. I had the bbq plate, with loaded mashed potatoes and french fries. Appetizer was fried pickles, and the crow eggs. Was blown away. Hands down best food my family has had in a while. We will be going back again. Our waiter David was awesome, polite and respectful. Going to be recommending to all my friends and neighbors.
On 3/23/22 at approximately 7:45PM I Received a plate of liver and onion with brown gravy and it was terrible. Especially the brown gravy. They asked me if everything was tasting good I said no and they said is there anything we can do to make it right and I said no. I told the waiter I’d pay for it even though I didn’t eat it. They charged me and I paid and I will never go there again.
When we have gone the few times, the quality of the food is inconsistent. Sometimes it is awesome, and other times the food is too cold or etc. But the last two times we went service was horrible. Our waitress did not come to our table for 20 minutes and when we finally got someones attention, they got our drinks for us and we didnt get any refills or anything. We didnt see our waitress until it was time for the check of course... And she had a terrible attitude. Unfortunately she was the waitress we had the last two times. And I mean the LAST two times. I wont waste any more time or money here.
Cold buffet ,young teenager was lost and couldnt figure out how to get our bill ,....waited twenty minutes for her to bring bill and then expected a great tip, ... She did not make this a experience ,.... More like a wasted lunch ,.... Food was ok but cold ,.... Could have been better
Ok first off!! The service was amazing !! Now to the awesomeness of this hidden gem!! I am from Houston traveling and found this spot. Best fried green tomatoes I have ever had!! The chicken fried steak and real hand made mashed potato’s were hands down yummy!!! We started the meal with some crows toes !!! Highly recommend !!!
When I called in orders to pick up I was always asked if I wanted to tip. If I want to tip I will but dont ask. Any way last time I called in a order to go first of all when I got home nothing was what I ordered and when asked if I wanted to tip I said no then this man at the register says to me u never tip. Needless to say I will never ever go back food wasnt all that good anyway
Was not impressed with the overly thick like glue potato soup. Was more like mashed potatoes dumped in a bowl. Ordered a burger with Jalapeno cheese and bacon, ended up with no bacon, no cheese and just jalapenos slices. Service was not great. Ordered appetizers and it came out with the meals?? Not impressed at all.
We ran across this place on a hot afternoon and decided to stop in for the Sunday Brunch buffet. It was about 1 pm, so the breakfast food was gone. No problem. I must say, this was the freshest tasting buffet food Ive ever had. Chicken fried steak, hand breaded chicken tenders, ribs, green beans, broccoli, various potato dishes, pot roast, mac and cheese, plus much more. All items were fresh and delicious. They even had a dessert buffet! We had the bread pudding and coconut meringue pie, both were outstanding. Will definitely go back!
The food was fine - classic southern staples. Nothing particularly “wowed” us with the buffet. They ran out of biscuits which seems like another thing a southern restaurant should always keep stocked. The pecan pie was pretty good though; I’d definitely pick one up from them over a grocery store come the holidays.
Came here for dinner when we first moved to Anna 2 months ago. Food was awesome and drinks were also good! We were super stoked to find a new watering hole. Our most recent trip for a late lunch was mildly terrifying. The water tasted off, all the food seemed microwaved that day. We loved the Crows eggs the first time, and ordered them again this time. Don’t know what was off but all four of us ended up with food poisoning for 3 days. Service was still pretty good, and we really want to like this place so I am still giving 3 stars.
Very impressed with this restaurant! Fried mushrooms were amazing and the burgers are huge. My wife ordered the Cobb salad and it was huge. The staff is very friendly and will even joke with you. I highly recommend this restaurant it definitely won’t be my last time here. Very impressed
Still fantastic food, but good luck getting it. Last 3 times Ive tried to order from them, or go in to eat, Ive been told Were sorry, but the kitchen is closed. This has been 45 minutes to an hour before their posted closing time, each time. Its time to find another local restaurant to support.
Traveled to Anna from East Texas and stopped at Crow’s Country Cafe...what an amazing experience. All our food was soooo good. It was fresh and very tasty. I ordered a ribeye steak and it was literally the best steak I have ever ever had...did I say ever...best ever!! 😋Our waitress, Jolene, was very pleasant, very friendly, which is very unusual these days for whatever reason. We will definitely visit them again. Try it! You won’t be disappointed.
We must have ordered the wrong dishes for me and my family. Lots of good reviews about the food but I did not have the same experience. I ordered a sirloin and it was very fatty, chewy and bland. My partner ordered the BBQ brisket and it was also awful. The meat was so fatty it looked like bacon. The squash casserole had no seasoning at all, and was very dry. The french fries were the only thing seasoned and it was over done. Mother in law also didnt care for her chilli. The beer was warm and somehow the city water taste overpowered the soda. The staff checked on us frequently, and that was about it for a good experience.
We eat there about twice a month and its great every time. I always get the chicken and dumplings instead of a salad and I always have fried green tomatoes and squash casserole as my sides. I rotate between the grilled catfish, mamas meatloaf, and Crows toes as my entrée. Great home cookin!
I placed a order for pick up, I walked in and a lady standing in front of the register never spoke or waved, the owner came over to assist with my order, I asked him why didn’t the employee acknowledge the customer he responded by saying “sometimes they are busy”… the owner and employee need training on how to deliver better customer service. The food was good to end on a better note.
Crow’s Cafe has great homestyle food, delicious desserts and a bar full of spirits at an affordable price. Our family had a great dinner there. Great service with a hometown country atmosphere. My dinner included fried catfish which was the best catfish I’ve had anywhere.
I dont normally write a review and I hate to today. The food is normally good but, Saturdays are too busy for call in orders. Was put on HOLD for 7 minutes til I finally hung up. Called back to No Answer. Went in to Order...Every table in the bar were full of dirty dishes. Waitress commented to customer they were out of bowls so they were getting Styrofoam. Hamburger patty was pieces of a patty put together and fries were cold.
I took a client there for lunch, I ordered the BBQ plate, my client ordered chicken fried steak. My BBQ PLATE was terrible! Meat looked like it was a week old( trust me I know Texas BBQ), the fried okra was ice cold, and the fries were limp and soggy w grease. Will not return!
My family ate here for the first time today and we were all very pleased. Had the pulled pork nachos as an appetizer and wow, very good and large portion for the price. My daughter ordered a burger and fries, they accidentally gave use an adult size burger, but didn’t charge us for it and she loved it. My husband had the patty melt and fries, he uses this as a rubric for many diner type restaurants, he loved it, lots of onions. I tried their fries, they are awesome. I had the meatloaf with a salad, mashed potatoes, and fried green tomatoes. So good! The meatloaf is bacon wrapped (!!!) and covered in a delicious tomato sauce. The mashed potatoes are lumpy and have skins in them, which is my favorite. And honestly all I can say is just get the fried green tomatoes. We recently moved to Melissa and a friend recommended this place. We will absolutely be back and we hope to try the Sunday brunch buffet. Our waitress was also very kind and attentive.
Food was pretty good. Steak was cooked well. Ribeye was very flavorful. Didn’t get either of my sides for my steak meal on my to go order. Should have checked before but everything was packaged up and I figured they were checking.Overall decent food but disappointing from a service standpoint
Visited late one day. Maybe 3 other tables. We were in a great mood and it all came crashing down W/ service and food. Granted there were some good items. The whole table had a problem with flavor it was under salted and didnt taste like anything except when you ate w/ gravy. Fries w/ bacon were good even though they forgot to make it and then brought it out after my meal. They lady never gave us a refill on our drink I had to ask her. All the employees were sitting at the table. After waiting for our check for a bit my brother in law started picking up the dishes off the table and putting them away as if he worked there. They came w/ the check we left disappointed.
This place was great! I came on a very busy night with my family (2 babies) and I always get nervous to take them out to eat. The waitress was great and interacted with our kids to keep them occupied, the food was fresh and tasted great. Wait time wasn’t too long and we were in and out pretty quick. Will be going back!
Every time we come, my husband always remarks “We need to come here at least 3x a week!”. We don’t eat out often, but enjoy the comfort food and supporting a local business. They hire the local kids as waiters and they are taught to be attentive and polite. Great prices for the food and beer. Haven’t made it to the bar side (Crows Nest) but see plenty of people in there on weekends. Have never had to wait to be seated and am hoping to try Sunday brunch soon!
Solid but not a standout. Crows is everything you would expect from a cafe: it is clean and comfortable with friendly service and it has a variety of food for a decent price. If youre looking for a simple place that serves simple foods with simple flavors Crows will fit the bill, but its nothing to write home about.
Excellent food. Fresh and tasty. We enjoy the Sunday after church all-you-can-eat buffet. The delicious catfish fillets are light and flaky. Fried chicken, ribs, and more. Plenty of salad and vegetable choices. Their squash casserole is my favorite. But, I dont play favorites on this spread!
My family and I loved this place! As first time customers we were warmly welcomed and taken care of. The waitress was friendly, attentive, and patient as she explained the menu and specials. Food was fantastic... comfort food at its finest. This place is a must see treasure!
Service was excellent!!! The meatloaf seems premade presliced foodservice. The pork fried pork chop and sides are excellent.Do mot order the chili. The chili is so salty you cant eat it. The wait staff says the have been told this many time but they refuse to change the recipe
First time visiting this restaurant. I was told the chicken fried steak and the catfish were the best options. I decided to try their catfish strips, fried shrimp, french fries, Mac N Cheese, and peach cobbler. The catfish wasnt very crispy but it had a nice flavor and wasnt greasy. The fried shrimp and french fries were both good and also very greasy. The fries definitely seem like theyre prepared in house. The Mac N Cheese had decent thickness and good flavor. I wasnt the biggest fan of the peach cobbler, it had a decent flavor, but there were a lot of cold spots and it kind of seemed like maybe it was store bought. Im sure ice cream on the side wouldve helped.
Usually I don’t give restaurants five stars but this restaurant was totally different . I have only gave in three different restaurants five stars and this is one of them. I went to this place because my dad was on a service call and it was lunchtime and we stopped to get lunch. My dad always loves hometown cooking places so he said let’s stop here and I said OK . And I ordered the Texas Burger which is one of the best burgers I ever had it had lots of onions and bacon and mushrooms and a side of barbecue sauce and the patty and everything it was so good. Usually I don’t like onions but these onions were so good the ones that fell off the burger I ate . He Texas Burger cost 699 and I was thinking oh it’s going to be average size burger but no they brought out this mass of burger it was so good and the french fries were awesome. My dad had the chicken fried steak he said it was one of the best chicken fried steaks he has ever had the mashed potatoes he had with it he said was super good and he had brown gravy on those mashed potatoes which she said that the gap down gave m my dad had the chicken fried steak he said it was one of the best chicken fried steaks he has ever had the mashed potatoes he had with it he said was super good and the brown gravy was the best Brown gravy that he ever had. This place was over or one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. And I can sure you that if I ever and in the area again I will for sure come here
We had a large group of 15. I did call ahead the morning of, so when we arrived our tables were already set up. Our waitress was excellent, food was delicious and I had no complaints at all. The restaurant was busy and our waitress treated us like we were the only ones there! And best catfish around!
This cafe was a homely western restraunt. The only reason why i am not giving it 5 stars is becayse it was busy and we had to wait for our order for about 45 minutes to an hour. Other than that, it was amazing. I will defiantly recomend the country salad as thats what i had.
Great food. Great service. Pleasant atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Weve driven from McKinney to visit Crowes a few times before, and always enjoyed our dinner. But, the last time we went (October, 2016), I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Also ordered a side salad. The salad was super fresh and delicious. And the chicken fried steak dinner and sides turned out to be one of the most delicious and satisfying meals Ive ever had! We will definitely be going back. :)
Just happened by this place, so stopped for lunch with my wife.I had the catfish friend and she had the steak fingers. Both were very good as were the sides. The service was great.Ive suggested this place to some friends already.Looking forward to trying the Sunday buffet some time.SentWeve been back to try the Sunday buffet and it was very good as well
Only reason I gave 2 stars was due to service which was very good. Food on the other hand to put it bluntly, sucked. Hard to screw up a grilled chicken salad but they did it. Lettuce seemed old and other veggies were just as bad. The croutons were so big and soft seemed like they just tore some bread apart and threw it in. The chicken, instead of being mixed in were three strips laid on top of the salad. Youd think that in a small market place like Anna youd serve food equal to the service . Cant see us going back, what a shame.
Crows has a consistently excellent buffet, is motorcycle friendly and the staff are always attentive. I was recently there for another visit with a group of 20 fellow motorcyclists for their Sunday buffet and as usual, the fried catfish was awesome, the beef ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the deserts were heavenly. They have a number of vegetarian options as well if that is what you prefer. Their salad in always fresh and fresh fruit is on the buffet always. Stop in for some good southern cooking at a nice price.
We were seated almost instantly...only good thing about my first experience at this establishment. Less than 2 minutes after we were seated, the hostess came and asked if we were ready to order. We obviously werent. She then asked if we wanted to order an appetizer; instead of letting us take a gander at the menu to see what they had, she took it upon herself to list off every option in half a second. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak that is the self-proclaimed best around with Mac and cheese and corn, my girlfriend ordered the chicken tenders with fries and coleslaw. When our food arrived, it looked halfway decent. Thats all it had going for it. The chicken fried steak was way over done. So much, I felt like I was eating fried beef jerky. The gravy was decent, but only because it masked the horrible tast of the chicken fried steak. The corn was cold when it came out, and the mac and cheese was more watery than the corn. My girlfriends chicken had been overcooked as well, it was tasteless and dry. The fries were so over cooked, they looked like sweet potato fries and had a charred taste. After our food arrived, we never saw the hostess again. It wasnt until we finished and asked for the check that we saw her again. Never asked how it looked or tasted. Worst restaurant experience Ive ever had. Ive had better tasting meals from freezer burned microwavable TV dinners. For nearly $30 for 2 people, I had much higher expectations.
Have been there several times for lunch and it was always very good. Was going to eat there after a ball game. Sign said they were open until 9pm. We went in at 8:15 and they were cleaning. We asked if they were still open and the woman very rudely said, sort of. She then said rudely, do you know what you want. I told her to forget it and said you probably shouldnt have 9pm closing on your door if you are not open until 9. Probably wont go back. No excuse for being so rude
I have given this place a shot multiple times... Something is always cooked incorrectly. Every time my husband orders a steak its wrong. The Dr. Pepper and soda taste is very flat (skimping on carbonation) Only thing Ill go for anymore is Sunday french toast... but cannot eat the chicken...massive stomach pains every time...
Sunday buffet is always a treat to sample all their main dishes. Steak fingers, catfish, and chicken tortilla soup are my favorites. Although, they dont have their delicious fried green tomatoes on Sunday its definately worth another visit to order them off the menu another day!
First time eating here today after hearing mixed reviews, thought Id give it a try. Hostess and waitress were extremely rude from the start. Our waitress asked us for our drink orders before we even sat down and never gave us a menu. Took us about 20 minutes to even flag her down for straws. The food was disgusting and under salted Im most cases. To make matters worse, it took even longer to get the waitress to take our card to pay for our food and leave which she also did with a rude demeanor. Do not waste your precious time and money going here. They are known to treat their customers very poorly (plus the food is terrible).
This place has went down hill, the mac n cheese was gross, broken shells that was more like mush, the cheese was made from powder. The tea was spoiled, I had to.send it back and it took at least 20 or 30 minutes to get fresh tea. The hot rolls was stale and gross. The chicken fried steak was tasteless. Im not sure what has happend over the 6 months but I had a hankeren for a home cooked style meal and it left me thinking that the only thing I will be having is a Margarita next time. The door greeter and out waitress was really sweet and curtious. I used to love this place but Im not sure who took over the kitchen 😳
My husband has been here once before and said he loved it the first time so I decided to order dinner yesterday for the family to try and the food was just OK at best.. really not a fan of the food and i dont think well be going back. Very disappointing and the chicken tasted old a bit old.
If you live in the area or are near by Crows is not a bad place to go. A few things:1. it was not busy when we visited - this resulted in prompt and attentive service2. the food is on par with other small town roadhouse/diner - everything was prepared as perfectly as it could but it does need salt and pepper to give it flavor3. The prices are more than fair for the amount of food!
The wife and I are regulars of Crows, enjoy their food weekly for years... until tonight. With Anna having only a few decent restaurants, one would think a restaurant would ensure both their food and their service is top notch. We had a long day a decided to grab a bite for dinner, we arrived at Crows at 8:59pm on Saturday evening. As we pulled up, one of the staff sprinted to the door and locked it!!! We walked to the door, knowing Crows closes at 10pm. Sure enough, the door was locked. We read the hours posted and yup it is clearly posted they close at 10pm. As we stood there in disbelief and hungry, a customer was leaving and the guy that locked the door unlocked it so they could leave. My wife confronted the person responsible for locking the door. His reply was “we are a family owned business and we decided to close early”!!! Ok!? Kind of hard to stay in business with that attitude, especially since we will never return and will make it a point to inform all our friends and family of the way Crows does business.
Went here with friends from work. Waitress sucked and was rude. She got the order wrong and when asked for just the sides while we waited for then to re cook the main part of the meal she scraped off the wrong food and gave us the original plate which at this point was nasty to touch and even to look at. When we asked to speak to the manager he was not any better. Margaritas were nasty too... Which is sad how do u mess that up! I give this place no stars but I had to tap 1 so I could write this review 🙅.... So sad crows!
Sorry but food was not good. It was bland. The chicken was rubbery and batter was falling off. All tasted frozen and fries were hard. Ordered Mac and cheese for my son and he didnt want to eat it. Sorry for the bad review but honestly Chef Ramsey would of shut that place down....
Sadly I have to review badly today. I honestly just left the restaurant with my to go order. I walked in 3 servers pass me and didnt say a darn word like... welcome Ill be right with your or how are you doing? We didnt receive all of our order. Absolutely rude people tonight. It was a tall blonde that I had to ask to get my to go order even though she was staring at me a few moments then applied her Chapstick.... never ever coming back to this place again this is sad our last review was very positive I wonder if its changed hands / management... Called management when I go home making sure I didnt get charged the the the item that was missing. The person that answered the phone was rude right off the bat as well. The restaurant wasnt even as busy as most nights.
The guy that owns this place treats his people and the customers badly. The turnover in wait people and some customers attests to this. The idea behind this place was good for the area was good but, the management had always been bad news. I do not go there because of this.
If i could this place would get zero stars.. Butt ill give them a 1. this place had the worst service i have ever experienced. My friends and I went to crows for lunch and the waitress got my friend order wrong and was rude. We talked to the manager he was just as rude . Tge fiid wasnt that good we are very disappointed and will never recommend any of my friends or family eat at crows ...

2022-06-07Well, its a beautiful place, I will say that. Its nestled in a little town on a sleepy little street but thats the beauty of it, isnt it? The hostess and server were nice, everyone else was looking at me funny... hmmm. The food, well maybe as a Texan, I shouldve known better than to order a BBQ plate at a non BBQ place. I think the chicken fried steak wouldve been a good choice. The Brisket was bland and rubbery despite a beautiful smoke ring. The sausage... lets just move on shall we?...Its a nice little place and its probably busy Saturday nights.

2021-12-10I think I found a new local favorite. The chicken fried steak was awesome. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.UPDATE: I have been back many times since my initial review and the experience has been consistent. The wait staff and the food have been awesome. I have tried many different dishes and everything is good.

2022-01-17Came here during a spur of the moment trip to visit my wifes dad who was passing through. Boy am I glad we found this place, the waitress was one of the sweetest Ive ever met. The food was great! Father in law and I both had steaks and my wife had the pot roast. All of it was amazing! Polished dinner with some pie and left very full and very happy. Will definitely stop here again when were in the area.

2021-05-12Stand alone restaurant in old downtown area. Restaurant and bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Menu selection was ample. Service was prompt. Food was hot or miss. Mostly miss. Chicken fried steak was very good. BBQ plate was fine. The squash casserole was almost all breading, Cabbage had little too no seasoning. Mac and cheese was very dry. Fried green tomatoes was very good. Tortilla chicken soup was really chicken soup with tortilla strips on top. Very bland. Loaded baked potato soup was very good. So overall it is very hit or miss. It is boarder line if I can recommend.

2022-05-09I am SO disappointed! 😔 I really wanted to like Crows Country Cafe. We went there a couple of years ago and wasnt impressed. The service SUCKED, the food was okay, and the prices were a bit high. We decided to give it another chance today. Placed an order to go. 2 burgers with fries, a kids grilled cheese with fries ($7.49; no drink), meatloaf with a loaded baked potato, 2 peach cobblers and a slice of buttermilk pie. $63. The desserts were $4.49 a piece. I should have taken a picture of my slice of pie. It literally measured in at 2 1/8 inches at the crust (widest part). Tiny! And not very good. The burgers were good (according to the consumers). The fries were okay. The meatloaf was awful. The meat itself was flavorless except for the burnt edges. And the sauce on top tasted (and looked) like they just poured a can of crushed tomatoes on top. The peaches were the only good thing in the cobbler. Neither of them were finished. I just hate that I spent so much money on such unappetizing food. I know the saying is 10 out of 10 dont recommend, but there is only 5 of us, so 5 out of 5 dont recommend.

2022-04-30I have been coming here off and on since 2010. This place has severely gone downhill. Was in town since I used to live here, so I ordered myself and my mom some food from crows to go. I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium rare for $17.99, along with a few sides. When we got our order home, I opened the container with the steak. Talk about a disappointment. First off, the steak was severely over cooked and wasn’t even close to medium rare. The steak was only a quarter inch thick and loaded with fat. The steak was not even edible for human consumption so I fed it to my dog. I’m glad she liked it. This place doesn’t care about the customer anymore, so you as customer should not give them your business anymore just like me. I will never waste my money at this place again.

2022-06-27First time to try it. Service was nice and fast. Food came out hot. I hope it stays this way. Kids didn’t like the Mac-n-cheese but it’s kids. I did ask the waitress fish or chicken fried steak. She said she doesn’t eat fish. That’s your chance to up sale a customer as a waiter/waitress. Oh well the CFS was good. My wife had the catfish it was good also. We will give it another try.

2021-06-15Pot Roast and beef stew will leave you very satisfied. They have a little of everything but these two are my favorites. Taste great, plentiful portions, reasonably priced and great service. What else do you need?Oh yeah, how about a big ole glass of iced tea or a long neck?Gott em!
