Great service! Place is very clean and staff is super friendly. My seafood soup was a little plain for the price. The fried rice was delicious! Its not bad for a restaurant in North Dallas. However, the best korean food I have had is still the Dallas royal lane locations.
Hidden gem! Terrific service and exceptional food. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The meals are served with a variety of side dishes and our kids loved trying everything. The spicy dish my husband and I shared was just the right amount of heat. The barbecue the kids shared was delicious. We will definitely be going back.
We decided to try this place after recently moving to the area. At the time, I was a little sad about losing convenient access to some of my favorite Korean places in Carrollton. My fiance got the Teriyaki Beef, and I got an order of the Stir Fried Pork and Kimchi (which is one of my favorite dishes).Everything was amazing. I had to stop myself from overeating on my Pork, as the normal portion with rice is enough for a dinner and a next day lunch. My fiance said the Teriyaki beef was amazingly tender and super delicious. We honestly werent expecting that level of quality to the food, so we were pleasantly surprised. The sides were delicious, too, and there was a nice variety to them as well. Overall, it was a little pricey, otherwise wed probably be eating it once a week if I had my way, but it was definitely delicious, and we absolutely plan to order again.
Excellent service and food was delicious. Staff was really helpful. She not only recommended different sizes, but also went out of her way to create a combined dish from two similar items we wanted on the menu and so we were able to get the best of both worlds. She knew that ordering both would be too much food for us. Instead of thinking just about her profits, she thought of a way for us to get what we wanted. Customer satisfaction was more important to her, which I think is awesome!👍🏼 Had 궁중 떡볶이, 해물파전, 김치전, 갈비탕, 갈비, 돼지갈비. Everything was delicious!
Im still fairly new to Korean food and it was my only first time here, but the Tempura soup was delicious and the overall quality of meal was great. My dish came with several vegetable sides, the soup and noodles, and a basket with 2 big pieces of fried shrimp, fried zucchini, and fried squash. The place was nice and relaxing with some lovely piano music in the background. The service was also very good. Overall, it was a nice experience.
I strongly recommend this restaurant to all who want to try Korean food for the first time! A home-like environment and dishes to blow your mind!As soon as we went in, we were welcomed with big smiles. The staff (that I wish was my third grandmother) explained everything well in case we would not understand the different Korean dishes, and often checked up on us to make sure we liked it, refill our drinks, etc. She knew we were trying different dishes and was ready with a box once were done and full (and satisfied). The food was delicious and I found myself eating vegetables even tho I have never been a been a big fan of greens. I discovered new tastes and rediscovered tastes of my home country, which was very refreshing. All I needed was a glass of water and the food that was there. I will definitely be back for the delicious dishes!
So, so good. I cant wait to come back. I loved the atmosphere, the owner (?) was so much fun and gave great service, and the food was amazing! We went with a big group of friends and everyone enjoyed their food. I personally got the kimchi pajeon and the o-Sam bulgogi. There were a lot more veggies in the bulgogi than I was expecting, but they were crunchy and the sauce was addictive. My other friends got the pork and chicken bulgogi and those were all meat. They cleaned their plates so Im going to say they liked theirs too! My husband ordered the tdokbokee with cheese and ramen for the table and it was a huge hit. And the banchan were great, too! It is a little pricey, but most korean food is and the portion sizes more than make up for it. Im so happy to have a good korean restaurant nearby that isnt the standard ayce barbeque joint. We will be back!
We visited Dawon in mid-afternoon for an early dinner. The location is somewhat difficult to find, but thanks to GPS we located it fairly easily. The Pork Bulgogi was absolutely exceptional, well prepared, slightly spicy and utterly delicious. The accompanying Kimchi and other other side dishes were excellent. The Soft Shell Crab appetizer was crisp and delicious. I spent many years in Korea and the food at Dawon was equal to any I enjoyed in Korea. Outstanding restaurant!!
I thought this place was great, from the food to the service. Our server was very helpful and patient in explaining and recommending some of the dishes from the menu. I got the bibimbap (I wont lie, mainly because it was the cheapest entree on the menu) and it was absolutely delicious, and it was surprisingly large for the price. Ill definitely be coming back here.
Delicious food and great service. We have only been on Sundays so far (this place has become our go-to place to eat out after church), so I dont know who waits tables on other days, but the lady who has served us on Sundays is terrific. She has been really warm and welcoming to my kids, and patient to explain what each item is and make recommendations. Now my kids start chanting dawon, dawon when we get in the car after church.
Ordered dinner portion of kalbi and some soup Togo. It was ready so quick. (I live 8 mins from their location so that’s a bonus) but It’s like my moms cooking and it was delicious!! I would highly recommend anyone looking to try korean food for the first time or if you are obsessed with korean food like myself. Do yourself a favor and give them a call. Let’s shop local during this pandemic!!
I drove 45 mins to have dinner there. It was actually an average or below small shop. The cooking is quick but the material is not fresh, way beyond a good quality. The food did not have the texture to chew and was short of tenderness. The side dish is inferior comparing to other korean restaurants. Their waitress was cold without smile. My stomach was awfully stuck and regret to come.
Very overpriced for the quality of Korean food. I was so looking forward to it being good. I live close and wanted to have a regular home food spot. I knew it would be rough when I ordered shrimp tempura, and it was the frozen shrimp tempura from Costco. HMart food court is much better. My family had fish egg soup (Al Tang) soon dubu chiggae and chicken tempura.
Im glad to see Dawon move from Plano to Allen, which is now a closer drive for us. Its in a really deep part of East Allen off Allen Heights and Main which is strange for a Korean restaurant. Weve eaten at their previous location in Plano off 15th and always enjoyed our experience. We ordered just two dishes to share between my wife and I, Kalbi and Kimchi-jjigae for lunch. Combined with a bowl of rice and solid banchan, we finished it all for a nice food coma afterwards. I did like how they provided some romaine lettuce and ssamjang to eat with the kalbi. Overall a good food experience and nice welcome addition close to home. Well definitely be back as regulars.
I love LOVE this place! The food has always been on pointe (I recommend the short ribs) and the customer service is A1. The staff is very sweet and welcoming. I have come here numerous times and have always been greeted and left with warm salutations and customer service.
My Favorite restaurant in Texas. Heres whats good.M6. Galbitang - The bone broth of this soup is unique, rich, and so flippin full of flavor that once I ordered it, it was all i ordered the next 4 times i visited this restaurant. I could not get enough of it, and was sad when I finished the entire thing by myself. I still order it every other time Im there.M16. Dolsot Bibimbab - With the Marinated Beef, this dish is full of flavor and wonderful vegetables. Then, you scrape the bottom of the bowl and find the delicious awesomeness of the golden crackling n crispy rice as it slowly browns from the heat of the bowl. The texture of the rice elevates this dish which was already awesome to a new level. YUM.T1. Chicken Terriyaki - Normally, I dont even like this dish. But here, its incredible! The chefs sauce is like nothing Ive ever had anywhere else, and I lived in Los Angeles CA and Boulder CO for years, both obvious culinary hot spots. This chef is not just pre-ordering sauces to make a quick buck. Even the broccoli that accompanies this dish... its like candy. Yes, CANDY!F2. Pork Fried Rice (Dwejigogee Bokumbab) - If one dish serves as my barometer for a good Chinese restaurant, its their Pork Fried rice. And then Dawon, a Korean restaurant goes and completely destroys ever other pork fried rice Ive ever had in my life. THIS pork fried rice is my favorite pork fried rice of all time. it beats every Chinese place Ive ever been to, from Seattle to Los Angeles to San Francisco China Town to Dallas... If you often order pork fried rice, ORDER IT HERE. You will love.Honorable MentionLike spice and bold fish stew flavors? Try the M11. Dae Goo Tang. Its VERY spicy, and the bowl keeps the soup nice and hot for quite awhile, maybe a tad too long. The service is great too! Very kind, always friendly to my children. In a small town north of Dallas that struggles a bit to be awesome, Dawon is a rare and awesome find!
Called at 8pm to ask about being able to bring in our own alcohol for dinner. They said yes so I hung up and got myself and Girlfriend ready to leave. About 7 or 8 minutes later I received a call back asking if it was for dine in the following day. I informed her it was for tonight. She said that the owner said only take out left for tonight. It was 8:20pm and we live in the neighborhood behind them only 2 minutes drive. I was told no can’t come tonight, I asked if their kitchen closes east or something? She said no it doesn’t close early but they close at 9pm. Which we were familiar with and planned on being there by 8:25 latest, not everyone eats at 6pm in the evening. So I suggest if your plan on going there do not show up anywhere near the last hour of business or you will be turned away! 1 of my favorite local spots just lost points in my book! 9pm Close means 9pm Close not be in by 8pm or else……
Dawon serves up the most amazing, comforting, authentic Korean food in the Allen area, and their bento options are my absolute favorites! When I previously worked in Allen, this was the place Id go for lunch. They have these bento boxes that were filling, delicious, and worth the cost! Each bento usually lasts me for lunch and dinner, which isnt bad considering they were only $12 (prices probably went up now). I always get the bulgogi bento. It came with rice, bulgogi, banchan (cucumber, kimchi, cabbage, fish cakes), and fried egg, making these bentos super colorful!! 😍 My boyfriend asked to change some side dishes because he doesn’t like zucchini & kimchi and the owner was super accommodating.I only dined in once after they reopened their dining area but its a very cute space. The restaurant is a little dark, and they use disposable utensils. There are 6-8 tables but most people order the food to go anyways. The couple is very friendly and I just love all my experiences here!

2022-08-07We went for a late dinner about 30 min until close. We asked if they minded us staying a couple minutes after or if we needed to pack up and finish at home. They told us to finish eating not to worry about the time. Basically: Food comes out quick, kind staff, great service, and DELICIOUS food! Highly highly recommend. I will DEFINITELY be coming back. :)

2022-05-19Freaking amazing! I was stationed in Korea for a year and I have to say this place takes the cake over anything else local!!! Everything tastes homemade. Only 1 draw back is not having an unlimited option for drinks other than water. That however will not stop us from going back. We will be repeat customers!

2021-01-24Delicious!We were looking for some good Korean food in McKinney/Allen and came across this place. We picked up our order and ate at home. Everything was very well packaged, the portions were large, and the food was flavorful! The Bulgogi came with lots of fun Banchan. Some of the Banchan items: Kimchi, green onion pancake, slaw, potatoes, spicy cucumbers. We also tried the Tdokboki it was also great! def opt for the cheese and ramen. The portions are huge and perfect to share.Give this place a try!

2022-05-12Delicious plate lunches that come in a large portion at less than 15 dollars is almost impossible to find these days. Go for lunch, get the bulgolgi lunch plate, its the most filling and delicious meql you can get to go for the price. Quiet on the inside. Nice staff

2019-01-06Ive gone a couple times and loved it. I grew up with homemade Korean food because my moms from Korea. This is how authentic food is supposed to taste. I am especially fond of the main dish because its my all-time favorite food, spicy rice cakes. Not only is the texture of the rice cakes/fish cakes and the thickness/sweetness/spiciness of the sauce perfection, there were detailed touches of fried dumplings, glass noodles and hard boiled eggs.My husband loves the donkatsu :)

2020-12-07We just moved to the area and were thrilled to discover this great korean restaurant tucked away in east Allen! Dawon is delicious, reasonably priced, and serves great portions! We highly recommend the bentos, namely the Galbee bento. They were arranged beautifully and every side dish was a hit with us (and the galbee too, of course)!

2019-03-27DaWon is one of my FAVORITE restaurants of all time. I was heartbroken when I thought they closed down!!! (Old location in Plano where Gogiya is now) but someone on insta told me they reopened in Allen! Ive been back a few times since their reopening and its been incredible every time. Service is always great, entrees and sides are always delicious, and I always leave so full. For my waste-conscious friends: theyve never forgotten when I ask for no straw, and I love that theyre one of the few Asian restaurants Ive gone to that use reusable chopsticks 🥰 10/10 recommend. Some of my favorite dishes: dal sot bibimbap, soon tofu, and teokbokki fully loaded with ramen and cheese

2022-02-21I love this place. My wife is Asian so she is very particular about her food choices. She loves this place and it is one of the few places she always wants to return to. Glad it survived the pandemic. One of the few places on the East side of Allen closeby to Lucas to eat.
