Worst experience ever! Usually deliver in Harlingen and decided to give DHR a chance and I should have never done that. A majority of the nurses I had were unprofessional one would say one thing and another would say another thing. They wouldn’t let someone bring me food my husband couldn’t leave the room at all. The food they would bring me was literally cold. Even my OBG said he got mad cause the nurses would tell him one thing and others would say another.
I don’t believe this hospital deserves any stars, but the one star that I must give, I will gladly appoint it to the custodian who helped me clean after myself after bleeding all over the restroom floor and toilet. I went into the ER with heavy bleeding due to a miscarriage. I waited for six hours, repeatedly told them who my doctor was, yet I was never called in. I waited and waited some more but all I saw a parade of women coming out with their new borns while I sat there losing mine. I was both emotionally and physically exhausted, I just wanted medical attention and to be on my way. It never happened though. Instead the head nurse comes to tell me that she knew I had been waiting hours but that they were going by priority. I was NOT priority. She told me she had to take the ladies who were pregnant and having babies and I wasn’t having a baby. She went on explaining how they were short staffed because of the situation we are in. She said I looked stable and I had to keep waiting. All I was give. Was a liner from the registration lady, so I wouldn’t get the lobby chair dirty. After hour number seven of waiting, I decided to look for medical attention elsewhere. I went to Valley Baptist in Harlingen since it was closer to where I live. I was seen within the hour. By that point, I had lost too much blood and needed a blood transfusion. I later had a D&C and was kept for monitoring. It was a horrible experience for my husband and me. How did DHR allow me to just bleed for hours and get to that point. Out of all the qualified people who work at DHR, only a custodian helped me as best as she could while I was going through the worst experience in my life.
I am 8 months pregnat and went in to check my baby girl, because I have flu symptoms. They told me to wait in the car. I did notify them that I was dropped off because I have kids at home!!! They didnt care that it was 45 degrees outside. They told me to wait outside! Worst hospital ever!!! I will be submitting a complaint.
Being 36 weeks pregnant and going as an emergency had a horrible headache. Was there for 2 hours waiting and still had 4 others in-front of me. I decided to leave to another hospital which the other hospital took me in right Away. This hospital has been the worst experienced I’ve had. Will never ever go back. I don’t understand what the hype is, The service is awful!!! I understand that I’m not the only person with an emergency but i mean i am pregnant it could’ve been a serious emergency and they could care less! I DONOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL!
Ive been here for about a week now in the gynecology area and they have the best most sweetest nurses ive ever met. Ill nvr forget how well theyve treated me. Along with some of their doctors. They have comforted me and made me smile. They are amazing ppl with big hearts and awesome humor.
I arrived at the hospital almost ready to push. I had labored at home as long as I could. When I got to the hospital no one saw the urgency. I was laboring bent over the front desk soaked from my water breaking just earlier. When they finally got me back to triage the nurses tried for an IV 6 times. While asking 100 questions that should be asked before someone is in labor. I was wheeled to my room after this. Let me add in my husband is still not allowed in at this point. After I got to the room another nurse asked me these 100 questions AGAIN. Im laboring. It hurts. Really bad. She tells me I must get through these questions (that I already answered) before they can do anything for me and my husband can come back. They also wouldnt let me move from the bed to labor. My husband finally walked in. He was outside raising hell to get in. The anesthesiologist walks in. Best thing to happen so far. 20 mins later my DR arrives and Im pushing. The nurse that checked me had calculated wrong. Another more experience nurse walked in checked and I had already been ready to push pretty much since they wheeled me back. During the delivery the nurses did work well with each other and made that part a little easier. The stay after baby wasnt bad. The discharge was horrible. I was suppose to be discharged at noon and didnt leave the hospital until 9:30pmThe reason it got 2 stars rather than one is because the nurses were sweet.
Overall Experience at DHR women’s hospital for my first birth was a great experience. I was very nervous, as expected with the birth of my first baby and also being induced. From the moment I got there for the three days of my stay... the nurses and my doctor, Rebecca Guerra, made this one of the most memorable times of my life. The nurses attended to me and made sure that I was comfortable and really treated me with respect and compassion. Throughout the whole time I was there, all the nurses were helpful As well as courteous to me. And made the birth/hospital stay so enjoyable for me. Thank you to all the nursing staff and Dr. Rebecca Guerra for helping my baby boy come into the world healthy and safely. Forever grateful to this hospital and their team.
First time having my baby at this hospital, doctor recommended it, bad experience. I went in earlier than scheduled due to baby coming, I was in labor and had to wait till their scheduled time. They rather go by their schedule than care for their patients that are in labor. I had to wait almost 2 hours, in labor! Till they helped me! Nurses were rude after my delivery. They said ugly comments towards me and my little one. Nurses had bad communication to let me know anything. If I have another baby, Im definitely going back to Regional.
To be honest I don’t understand how this Hospital has bad reviews. Yes it was a bit of wait but honestly it was very worth it! I was provided with the best care from my nurses to the doctors! Dr Susanne Mathew, Dr Samantha Castillo and Dr Theodore Held explained everything to me every step of the way and they made sure I was comfortable as possible and I knew my health was in good hands! When I woke up from surgery I woke up to the most sweetest and caring RN I’ve ever met! If we could request nurses I would always request her! Maria Celia del Carmen I can’t thank you enough. Even with the circumstances this virus presents us. You didnt lack quality of care or compassion. Yes, you took all the right precautions to ensure your health and mine, but you didn’t compromise the empathy or care you showed me. So thank you so much! I don’t hope to get sick ever again but if I do, I know exactly where to go.
This place is terrible!!! The registration lady was so rude! The financial Dept has no idea what theyre doing. I waited THREE hours for a covid test and some simple pre op bloodwork only for the nurse to blow the vien in my arm! I will have my surgery there on Thursday because I dont have any other choice but I will NOT be going back for anything in the future. Horrendous!!
Horrible wait time I went in for pre registration and a covid test I waited over 3 hrs its kind of ridiculous my actual surgery was just 30 minutes. If you can look for another hospital before you get scheduled for any sort of surgery unless you like waiting in a hospital lobby then this is your hospital.
I was asked to leave when 2 anesthesiologists arrived in the delivery room. Reason was family members get aggressive and have punched staff. They were told not to use my wife for training purposes. Both of us were ignored and they administered the epidural incorrectly on the 1st attempt by the training anesthesiologist. I was unable to reach the director to file a complaint.
Very disappointed! I have been waiting for hours with dr orders and still have not been admitted. I am in pain. Contractions every 5 to 7 minutes and not one person has approached me to ask how I feel or give me any status. This is not my first delivery, always had had a good experience however the experience has already began very negative this time around. Not sure if I will choose womens again. I came in with orders hoping they wont hold me up to long, however its been hours. It is not acceptable to make anyone wait this long. Yet others arrive and keep getting admitted. Why?
As a more personal experience it was a very bad one getting admitted to this place. My wife and I arrived at 4pm on a Tuesday night, and we haven’t gotten a room since then, it’s currently 9:37pm. Almost 6 hours, really!?!? She asked a lady at the entrance a couple of times already and they can’t give her an update and just tell her that she’ll get called when a room is available. I finally called and asked if they where short staffed or didn’t have enough beds, the lady simply said they where discharging patients and they needed to get the room ready. Horrible experience!
My wife had our baby two days ago on the 11/19/20 and it was awesome nurses were great and very compassionate especially one lady named Juany she was a cna we were in postpartum 107 and she always was really nice to my wife and always had her what she needed. Thanks to her everything felt easier and lighter being there. THANK YOU MISS JUANY.
Horrible experience doctor told me after giving birth I would be able to leave once they check the baby and I was all clear. When asked to leave in the morning they told me i wasnt cleared they had to ask the docotor to leave. Called if i was going to be released today only response I got wouldnt know about that horrible experience didnt want to be around virus or be exposed to it for my babys sake. Also mom called hospital and a receptionist didnt know when she was going to be released. But over all Im thankful for them delivering my baby.
I have nothing bad to say my experience was top notch!! The hospital was clean and staff was amazing.. before I came I had read the reviews a lot had to say and I was sceptical about coming but I’m glad I did because the hospital and staff are not how many people are rating it but each person has there own experience the anasthaic team was amazing and gave me the best experience when putting on my epidural and the ladies in the labor and delivery unit were friendly along with the post partum unit! And the food was amazing the have a Lubys and I believe a fudwruckers in the cafeteria overall I have nothing bad to say at all thank you LADIES
I am looking for legal help to sue due to medical negligence during my second vaginal child birth. I had a healthy pregnancy and almost perfect delivery. After my delivery, I had severe bleeding which wasnt detected until I was moved to the second room . It was due to uterine rupture due to uncontrolled use of the drip that helps push contractions. During my contractions I had high pulse rate and my body would go into shock, and the nurses were aware but did not give me much information or tell me it was alarming. After the bleeding was detected it took the hospital medical team Hours to get me to the operation room and my Dr. Who I trusted due to good care during my pregnamcy labeled it as repair of laceration. I didnt really know what was going on and didnt ask questions because I was very drained and emotional and tired.
Updated review:I updated my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I had my second son here in April and it was an amazing experience. All my nurses and the doctor that delivered was absolutely amazing. It seems they have changed things since I gave birth to my first son in 2015 and I am so happy. I would definitely recommend this place.Im giving this place a 3/5 stars because the female nurse who helped me when I was delivering my (first) son kept belittling and giving me attitude when I moaned in pain, completely insensitive and rude, instead of seeing how I was reacting to labor and providing me with encouraging words and support. When I told her I would like the epidural (I was experiencing horrible back pain, almost passing out because of the pain) she kept saying I delivered 3 kids without epidural, you need to try, I could do it why cant you. She seemed very experienced and was probably in her late late 40s early 50s. Everyone else that helped me was friendly and helpful, but i definitely will always think about her when it comes to my sons delivery sadly. If it wasnt for her I would give this place 5/5.
Delivered all 3 of my boys here and every time nurses were very kind, very helpful. ♡♡ loved it but from my last son i got an epidural and it didnt work so i I felt everything :( it was time for me to push and the nurses were telling me not to because doctor wasnt their..
Worst place ever! I had my hysterectomy done here and they kept telling me different times for when I was going to be released. They finally came to an agreement of Saturday 9-9:30 pm. Fantastic I thought I wouldnt have to worry about my ride leaving work to take me home. Next thing I knew I was being kicked out by 5pm! I was very upset and angry for these people just lying to me. I had a major surgery (hysterectomy) on Friday and that night/morning 4 a.m. Saturday I had a seizure episode due to the anesthesia they had given me. I was in extra pain from seizing up then they thew me out by the evening, and I say they threw me out because I told them I didnt have a ride and they shouldnt have lied to me about the time I was being released; instead of even offering me to wait in the waiting room they actually told me THEY WOULD CALL A TAXI FOR ME! I was outraged! Then they tried convincing me that they didnt throw me out but they wanted to call a taxi? What does that say to you? I can call a taxi or uber myself but I didnt have the money. Then to make matters worse a nurse said (I dont know if it was meant as a jab or to just to make me feel even worse or more upset) the hospital used to give rides to people who didnt have anyone to take them home but they dont offer that service anymore. Why did I need to know about that useless comment? Was it even necessary? I was truly outraged and disgusted with this hospital. My blood pressure was soaring by this point and I needed to leave so I changed my clothes and even took out my i.v. because they clearly had already kicked me out and wanted me out. I asked for my paperwork and for security to hurry so I can walk out already. The staff was still trying to convince me that they hadnt kicked me out and I reapeated what they offered to me, I reminded them that they offered to call a taxi to pick me up so they clearly did kick me out. Security took too long to get there so the staff on that floor decided to wheelchair me out but not until I signed their paperwork, so were they holding me hostage now after they had clearly kicked me out? I signed their paperwork because I wanted to leave before I got even more upset with them. On the way outside in the wheelchair when they asked me what color is the vehicle and what kind of car? I just told them it was none of their business since I wasnt in their care anymore. As soon as we finally made it outside I got out of the wheelchair and walked. Yes I walked! They tried to stop me because I shouldnt be walking around and such but I just said you guys told me to walk around to prevent blood clots and now you want me to stay seated? I dont think so. I walked to the sidewalk with my belongings because I knew they were going to call security on me for not waiting until they wanted to let me leave after they had already kicked me out. I walked all the way to McColl and at the stop sign my ride saw me walking there and picked me up. The person who picked me up had to leave work to pick me up and take me home when he also believed I would be let out until 9:30pm. If I would have known all the problems the hospital was going to give me I would have chosen a different hospital and I would have driven myself. This place has been a huge disappointment and it has let me down once again.
Very unfriendly staff for the most part. You need to press a buzzer to notify staff when you need to get to your room and they pretend they didnt hear it, so after a few minutes of standing there they finally let you in. Some of the nurses are really unreliable. I asked one if my baby girl had made progress since the night before she was in level 3 nicu and her response was I dont know I guess so. I would have preferred a straight yes or no than a reply that made me question your knowledge and experience in the position. Then later that night my wife was in pain, I asked the CNA if they were going to give her anything and she didnt even answer me, instead I got a look of annoyance as she left. After hearing so many great things about this place Im glad I experienced it for myself. My family and I will not be returning to this hospital.
This is a stressful hospital to be in. I went in to register for my surgery and I was there 4 hours. They are slow, no sense of urgency. The process includes speaking with a financial counselor but there are only 2 financial counselor windows and 4 registration windows! I already brought the letter from my insurance that the procedure is approved. And this surgery was already scheduled (but was only moved to a later schedule because I needed a cardio clearance) and everything was approved. I even got a call confirming the out of pocket amount that I would have to pay, and now it’s not in their system coz the lady at registration said it’s a different account? What do you mean a different account?! It’s ridiculous! The hospital’s registration process and the lack of personnel stressed me out the day before my surgery.
My baby boy was delivered here. We encountered both great and horrible staff members. It was on a Sunday and it appeared their was too little staff for the amount of patients they had. Everything was rushed. The level of cleanliness was awful in the delivery room and definitely needs to be addressed. Would probably choose a different hospital in the future.
My daughter was scheduled for surgery on 12/19/18 at 9: 00 am. She arrived at 8:30 was not called in until 11:30 to pre opt. She waited all day in pre opt. She asked all day why is this taking so long ? Only to get a million different stories as to why they were running so late! Well just to let u know she didnt go into surgery until 10 :00 pm!!! 13 1/2 hours later!! I wish i could rate them with a ZERO!!!!!!!!.
Was admitted to the hospital due to a rupture cyst on my Fallopian tube which require urgent surgery. From the my OB/GYN - Dr. Rodolfo Lozano to the staff, I had the best care that anyone can asked for. I am forever recommending Womens Hospital at Renaissance to all my friends and relatives.
I had both my babies her at this hospital and it was the worst experience ever. 1st thing was after having my son they took him to the nursery for more then 3 HOURS and i requested to have him and they said they were still evaluating him AND THAT THEY WILL NOT GIVE HIM TO ME UNTIL AFTER IT WAS DONE WHICH WAS RIDICULOUS ITS MY CHILD I WANTED TO BOND RIGHT AWAY. When they brought him to my room the nurse USED HIS CRIB TO OPEN THE DOOR AND YOU CAN HEAR THE CRIB BANG REALLY HARD AGAINST THE DOOR. THEN WHEN I HAD REQUESTED THAT A NURSE COME CHECK MY SON BECAUSE HE WAS DOING SOMETHING STRANGE AND HAD A RASH THE NURSE WAS ROUGH WITH HIM AND KEPT PULLING HIS ARMS UP THE WAY SHE WAS DOING IT LOOKED WRONG AND SHE WAS SAYING IT WAS NOTHING. THEN NO ONE HELPED ME WITH BREAST FEEDING INFORMATION OR BOTHERED TO SEND IN A NURSE FOR BREASTFEEDING or HELP. NO ONE CAME IN FOR PHOTOS OF THE BABY OR EVEN OFFERED TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY BABY AND THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH MY DAUGHTER THEY DIDNT GIVE ME MY DAUGHTER UNTIL 3-4 HOURS AFTER SHE WAS BORN AND MIND YOU THEY WERE BOTH BORN HEALTHY SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR A CHECK UP TO TAKE SO LONG..I had my 3rd child a different location and 100% better experience
My doctor sent me to induce labor, they told me that the room would be ready at 5pm, I arrived 3 40 let me know and they told me to wait there, the room being ready, they passed me, they gave 8pm and they only told me that I was not ready yet to wait 10 minutes The employees with very little desire to work .. They started to turn off everything and the employees started to leave and I was left alone waiting since they did not let anyone wait with you. Tomorrow I will return with my dr to send me to another hospital.
The worst hospital that I could have paid for, they scheduled my natural labor induction and they gave it to me for a week later, then the day that they supposedly gave me as available arrived and it turns out that they return me because there is no qualification available in the same way , or get sick, they discriminate against you the worst and they did not give me priority, according to why the emergency ones are first than me, even though I have paid and set aside my place so as not to arrive as they say about the emergency, they told me to In the same way, wait for it to come to me dying or bleeding or maybe until your my baby dies because my delivery has passed.
I arrived today 08/21/2019 about 4:00 pm with my wife to be treated in an emergency because I had bleeding and this is her 6th week of pregnancy and it is 06:43 pm and she has not even been seen . This seems to consult instead of emergency. I have already spoken to the one who takes the data and says that the next one is her but nothing keeps happening and she is staying. This is the third time that I speak to the one who takes the data but does not take action on the matter. The truth is that it is a complete lack of concern with the people who really need to be taken care of.

2022-06-28I was scared going in to get induced but doctor and nurses make you feel comfortable and relax had my daughter here at like 4am last weekend no problems. Loved the fact they had her with us as much as possible. They even sent us home with a cute fathers day shirt for her. Her doctors and nurses were really caring and explained everything to me and came to my room whenever I had questions. Had a really good experience here. Thank you.

2022-06-08If I could rate it less then a 1 I would. My daughter gave birth about a week ago at the women’s center, from the beginning when we took paperwork and registered and every time we went to the hospital and checking in, we were given different information each time. For labor and delivery, who could be in the room, visitation, visitation hours, who could stay in the room etc.I traveled from out of town based on the “misinformation” and was told only 1 person could stay after 8, when we had been told different. They even had security come in and ask one of us to leave which was totally uncalled for. This was my daughter‘s first child, none of the nurses told her anything, did not help her in anyway whatsoever. They didn’t tell her about how to clean the umbilical cord and what to expect, they did not give her the items to help clean herself and have pain relief from the actual birth until that night when she had delivered at six in the morning. And then some of the stuff not until the next morning. I was furious, and she had no idea about it because it was her first birth. A Director of case management came in on the day we were supposed to be discharged and asked if we had any complaints or anything and we looked at each other and then looked at her and told her everything, she asked if we wanted to make a formal complaint and we said yes. She said she would send someone, nobody ever came and all of a sudden we were being discharged! So we were not able to speak to anybody about this.Worst experience ever !

2022-06-08Recently delivered my newborn had a very bad experience, I had contraction and losing fluid and had to wait almost two hours in the lobby before been seen. Since I knew I was a C-section i had to wait another 5 hours to deliver. I know they encourage lactation but sometimes is not due able and they push it to a point where your exhausted as a recently operated mom. After you have gone thru a c-section you need a smooth recovery and not be forced to lactate. Finally upon release they take a long time to give you release paperwork when you been discharged by your doctor for hours. Expected more from this hospital since it’s private but not worth the money.

2022-06-28I had all 4 of my kids here, with my first the nurses didnt communicate well with my doctor and one nurse couldnt draw or insert an IV correctly someone from lab had to come do it and they were magic. My second I had planned to have vaginally and the anesthesiologist said I wasnt going to be able to because I was too small (I didnt like that). I ended up having a c section (2nd one) good thing I did, her umbilical cord was around her neck hence she wouldnt come out when I pushed. My 3rd I was scheduled for a c section and I ended up having it earlier, it was all great I had a different doctor this time they just pushed breastfeeding too much even though I was they were too pushy. My last one ended up being a horrible experience personally not because of staff it was high risk and I ended up having an emergency surgery and hysterectomy. Everyone was genuinely respectful and caring to me except for that one guy, and the lady at the front today being so rude for asking for a mask she looked so miserable and her interaction was ugly. The other one too like if theyre digging into their personal stash to give me a mask the 2 times in the whole pandemic that I forget.

2022-05-30I want to share my recent experience having a robotic surgery in Women’s Renaissance Hospital. When I got to the prep surgery room the best of care and instructions with specialized attention and the same when in recovery, my designated nurse, Marie, the sweetest person to have when waking up from an anesthesia!! Very happy with my decision of getting surgery done here!

2022-04-20If you have private insurance, please stay away from this hospital. People in front desk are rude as hell. They made us wait for 5 hours for a bed when the patient has emergency situation. They keep using COVID test as an excuse for 5 hours wait time which in reality the test takes 20 minutes or Max an hour for the results. Later we found that the reason why they made us wait for 5 hours is Cz there is a shift change and the nurses don’t want to admit new patients when they are ready to go home. Can you believe this? They told us only patient can stay in the room and no one else can stay overnight with the patient which is a violation and illegal. I have never come across these type of rules. They are saying that even with a negative Covid test no one can stay with the patient overnight. When you are pregnant you want someone in your room In case of emergency. But this is ridiculous, the nurses are making up Their own rules. Some are rude and they don’t care about the patients.the only reason we went there is Cz of our doctor. The beds are not even comfortable and they are definitely not designed for pregnant women. Stay away from this hospital, there are many better hospitals out there in the valley.

2022-04-01If I can give 0 I will. This place is not recommended. My daughter is losing fluids since 12 and in pain and they tell her to wait in the lobby because 2 people is in front of her. She is 9 months. This place is done. I’m glad Im not having a baby and live in this area. Houston treated me better.

2022-06-03Hi, I don’t know who handles customer service here, but last night I went to Womans health center ER. Let me tell you, the triage nurses are very RUDE!Not to mention the girls in registration were rude too, not even a welcome face they had.Two of the nurses are filipinos, one I recall her name as Wendy, and the other one I dont remember her name but she was ther at 11pm. Horrible, I still dont understand why they are there helping people when they obviously dont like their jobs.Ive had heard horror stories of DhR and their bad experiences, and last night i found out that yup people were right.

2022-07-17I had an outpatient procedure at DHR Women’s Hospital (non pregnancy related) & got an infection 2 days later. I ended up at the ER in this part of DHR due to my Ob-gyn’s secretary instructing me to go there. My husband was with me in ER area in hard plastic chairs, with me sitting and crying I was in so much pain. The 4 ER intake clerks knew I was crying and left me there for almost 4 hours. Again, I am not pregnant and understand women carrying a child are considered more important for emergency care than me, but women coming in waiting area and eating chips and drinking sodas from the vending machines next to the restrooms and waiting area weren’t in dire emergency situations like I was. Seven women went in before me. I almost passed out twice from the pain and my husband asked at least five times when were they going to take me in. The security guard who helped get me a wheelchair to have us taken to the ER make-shift waiting area (construction has part of building shut off), even told us 2 1/2 hrs after seeing us still waiting that it was “completely ridiculous” that we waited that long. AN EMPLOYEE told us it was ridiculous!! Every woman who came in had Medicaid and I had private insurance. Funny how they were all ushered into the ER as I sat there for exactly 3 hours and 55 minutes shaking and crying in pain. We ended up leaving to the Edinburg Regional Hospital off Trenton and Freddy and literally went in, bypassed waiting FIVE minutes, and within 15 minutes I had an IV and morphine!! STAY AWAY FROM DHR unless you want to end up in a very serious situation because you don’t have free government medical care or are not a US citizen who they can drain the Medicaid for as much free money as possible for worse than SUB PAR medical services. I wouldn’t send my worse enemy to DHR!! They do not care for people as patients. You are a number, who they will charge as much as money out of you so the doctor owned facilities can get as much money into the physicians pockets. Worst possible experience of my life (I have used Mcallen Medical, Rio Grande Regional, Edinburg Hospital, Harlingen Hospital, and McAllen Heart Hospital). All other area hospitals are beyond better than DHR. Heed my warning! Do not get care there unless you don’t mind being treated worse than cattle!!

2022-04-01NICU 3 1ST FLOOR RNs are dirty drop box of gloves on the floor take it out from the trash and puts it back to use gloves...the times that I would go my babys pacifier was on the floor and didnt care to give her another one. I had to ask a rude CNA (elderly light brown hair) to give me another one...I can go on & on.
