Drunken Oyster in other cities:
Ok so when my husband and I went we were super under dressed and had our infant with us so I was nervous once we walked in but our waiter was super empathetic and completely understanding as well as helpful I definitely recommend this place for Date night or just an all around great time I was introduced to my new favorite drink 🍸 ever The Voodoo Queen it even had a bubble of smoke on top 😊 ☺ 😀 and it was just devine!! My husband also was introduced to his new fave as well it was The Old Fashioned when I tell you this thing was smoother than dolphins skin in water I mean it!! I took a sip and I actually enjoyed it too! Our waiter recommended to get it smoked and that was by far the best choice. The food was great to top it off and the ambiance is perfect 🥰 so I definitely give this place 5 stars 🌟 🤩
One of the best places to eat in Amarillo. The fried catfish is amazing and the crab is always great. The appetizers are great and they have a good drink menu. The chocolate explosion cake with the firework on top was a wonderful way to end the meal. I highly recommend this place there’s something for everyone even non seafood lovers.
Food was very good. Had the blackened catfish topped with etouffee and shrimp. Fish was cooked perfect. The vegetables and rice were very tasteful. Lots of flavor in that dish. Drinks were well crafted. Very clean restaurant and the staff was very courteous. Portions were well worth the money. It would be difficult to walk away still hungry. Great atmosphere. Overall great experience.
Was finding a place to get our truck washed, when this place popped up on the google map... my other half loves his oysters so we decided to go. We did not have a reservation (Friday night @6) but they were able to get us in... the oysters were great (got raw and charbroiled), the risotto & scallops was perfect and the lobster Mac & cheese was superb (so yummy with the smoked Gouda)... as far as price goes, paid more for the oysters than the norm but other seemed reasonable for seafood... our waitress, Jorian, was fantastic... we would definitely go back.
Service and food were amazing! We started with the catfish bites. So so good and a really big portion. My husband had the seafood gumbo and enjoyed it and helped me with my risotto and scallops....it was wonderful. Our server talked us into the bread pudding and it was a perfect way to end our meal. Well definitely return when were in the area again!
Found this place randomly and it did not disappoint. Just overall great flavors, extremely fresh seafood. We had oysters (fresh and baked), gumbo, dungeness crab, and scallops. Reminded us of a restaurant on the coast in Mississippi and the flavors and freshness were the same. We went a bit crazy, but do expect to pay a bit for fresh seafood in West Texas.
I went here because it was on my Find Me Gluten Free app and had good reviews. I wasnt impressed. They werent knowledgeable about gluten free. Theres no separate allergy menu. I asked for the gluten free noodles in their Cajun Alfredo. Was supposed to have sausage and shrimp and had 2 tiny pieces of sausage and 2 tiny shrimps. It came out with zucchini noodles that were still crunchy. I ordered the sausage hash instead. It was ok. I didnt realize until after we paid that we still had to pay for the Alfredo. Who doesnt take something off your tab when it isnt good? We wont be stopping back here when were in Amarillo again.
Our favorite restaurant in Amarillo. We always stop by when we travel through. This trip we had the fried calamari, awesome. Grilled vegetables were amazing. Catfish bites were wonderful. Mahi Mahi entree excellent. Topped it off with bread pudding.A wonderful meal. Great service. We will definitely repeat next time we are in town.
Date of visit was 6/15/22. Our group was in Amarillo, TX for a Confrence and was treated to dinner. The Drunken Oyster was suggested by our Vendor treating us. The restaurant is very nice and the food.... The good was absolutely great! More importantly the server name Shane, if you visit the restaurant and get Shane take his advice on the food and drinks! He is an amazing server and truely made the experience at this restaurant even better. If you do not get him you will not be disappointed the place has great food and ambiance.
Hands down, the absolute best Amarillo has to offer. You will not find a finer eating experience in the Panhandle, I cannot stress that enough. The calamari is fried to perfection, the steaks are cowboy worthy, the étouffée respectfully pays homage to its southern roots and the cajun boil is so good I would say its disrespectful to even try to compare it to other boils. I look forward to returning.
This place was so amazing we visited twice in one day! Our servers Josh (1st visit) and Carlos (2nd) were great. We even chatted it up with the service manager James who was so welcoming. I cant say enough about the food, the drinks and the staff. I drank several drinks during the two visit and will highlight one of my favorites, the Voodoo Queen (pictured with a smoke bubble on top). The Drunken Fondue was by far my favorite appetizer. This place is AWESOME!
Creative menu with something for everyone. The oysters were a little pricey but worth it. The Crawfish were delicious. The Shrimp and grits was seasoned nicely with deliciously prepared creamy grits with substance. The Pinot Grigio excellently complimented the oysters and the cocktails were on point. Will return when in Amarillo again.
This was the perfect place for an anniversary dinner with my wife. They have a good selection of unique dishes and there is a small stage for live music. There is also a bar and a private room for bigger crowds. They have an outdoor seating area but the indoor experience is more worthwhile. We enjoyed the flavor and perfection of our food and my wife especially enjoyed the wine. The waiter was friendly and funny and we had a good time.
Andrew our server was awesome, super quick, knowledable on menu, very nice. Food was great had the Cajun Alfredo and the jumbalaya was spicy but good. Good sized portions. Also appetizer we had was the fondue platter it was great. Only complaint was side house salad was very weak and poorly made hard to eat big pieces of salad. Other than the salad it was a great experience.
Kailey, the manager, was exceptional yesterday. We had a few questions and she stopped by to check on us and was so kind and knowledgeable. She really made our experience phenomenal. She was very professional and it was honestly some of the best customer service Ive ever recieved. I highly recommend the drunken oyster to anyone looking for an amazing experience. Thank you so much Kailey!
This is our second visit to the Drunken Oyster in one week! It is amazing!! The food and atmosphere is excellent!!! Smooth jazz playing in the background of a dimly lit room with excellent food! You can’t go wrong!! Our waiter was Dillon who took EXCELLENT care of us!! We absolutely enjoyed him and will request him every time we dine here! He not only had great food & wine recommendations but was also very fun and professional!! We will return very soon!!
This place is one of Amarillos gems. The decor reminds me of a cute saloon. Its a great place for date night or a night out with friends. We started out with a Cranberry Thyme Moscow Mule and it was delicious. The Drunken Fondue with lump crab and it was plenty for two. I had the Shrimp Poboy with a side of lobster mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was creamy, but lacked some seasonings for a powerful punch to my tastebuds. We also had the red Sangria that was a refreshing delight to dinner. Daisy Lynn was our waitress and she was super attentive. I will be back to try more of their delicious menu.
My husband and I ate here for our Anniversary last night. We wanted to try a few different things so we ordered the fondue, oysters trio & 2 snapper cakes. I was disappointed in the fondue as I thought the ingredients mentioned would be on the side and you would dip them with a skewer, but no I guess they were in there? We found 3 slivers of sausage and if there was shrimp or anything else in there we didnt see it. It did come with plenty of toasted french bread. The 2 snapper cakes were good. I would pass on the oyster trio. There were 6 very, very tiny oysters. The baked one was incredibly salty, the 2 raw ones had a LOT of juice. I didnt even try the fried one or the raw ones. The chef did come out and introduce himself and tell us Happy Anniversary as well as our server. We left hungry because the servings were very, very small for the fondue and oysters. (You can reference the silverware to see how small the portions were) We are not large portion eaters but this was really small serving sizes. We will give it another chance but will order entrees next time to see if it is worth it. Just stay away from the appetizers because it says small sharing plates and they do mean small. It had a nice atmosphere except the 2 top tables are a long bench with chairs on the opposite sides. Picture family style. If you want a romantic dinner, go elsewhere because youll literally be side by side with strangers, at a very small table which got very crowded with our order, glasses, plates, candle and water carafe.
Went for lunch. The decor is nice. Old world charm. It is extremely dark inside. This picture gives you a false sense of it being light inside. The alligator was good. The portion consisted of 6 pieces, size varies between 2in to 5in. The larger pieces were a little tough and 1 seemed under cooked. The flavor was good, they were never fishy. The sweet potato fries were wonderful. We had a large group of 13. It took nearly an hour for food to come out.
Amazing! Loved the atmosphere, it reminds me of a winery, with a kind of rustic elegance. We ordered the pasta, the blackened salmon and blackened catfish. My daughter subbed the rice for broccoli and i got the asparagus instead of rice. For appetizers they ordered the Alligator Bites and fired green tomatoes. My son-in-law had the Hurricane, my daughter and I had the Fall Fest Mules. Her husband loved hers so much he ordered one also. The Mules came with a cinnamon stick and s cinnamon coated apple slice on the side. Fantastic! Our server made sure everything was perfect, very professional and helpful. Since we told our waiter we liked the less sugary drinks he told us that the bar will customize the level of sweetness. Did I mention the Reverse Happy Hour with live music? Wonderful amazing food and great service.
Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I was passing through Amarillo on a road trip only to find that no restaurants in downtown are open on Sunday. The hotel I was staying in suggested going back near the interstate to find something to eat, but we wanted something better than fast food or a tourist-type place. We Googled restaurants near me and this was the first thing that popped up that sounded like what we wanted. Excellent! Fried calamari appetizer, risotto and scallops (huge delicious scallops) and some of the best bread pudding I’ve ever had. It’s a little pricey compared to the average restaurant in this area but really worth it for a nice relaxing dinner. Service was great, too. It may take a little longer to get your food than say a Red Lobster, but just have a glass of wine and enjoy! It’s totally worth it.
In town for a Texas Tech hockey game and a friend recommended the Drunken Oyster. I was very glad they did. The peel and eat shrimp were excellent. My shrimp Po boy was delicious and the bread pudding was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Daniel my server was spot on with his service.
Nice place and friendly staff. If not for the boil I would have ranked it higher. For $38.00 it was the most over priced, over cooked so called boil I have ever had. The 5 crawfish disintegrated there was no pinching the meat out. It was mush. The corn was not even close to being crisp, mush also. Well everything was overcooked. So it seems like it was 5 of each crawfish, shrimp, clams and calimari. Why a blackened catfish fillet comes with a Boil I wondered but now I know. They go cheap on the sea food so they throw a filet in so you dont feel totally robbed. Good thing I dropped an extra 15 for the lobster tail. With out it and the catfish I might have just walked out.If you like real Cajun boils dont eat here it will just Let you down. The people I was with liked their dishes. They said they were good but nothing note worthy
A week before Mother’s Day I called for Sunday reservations and spoke with Emily. She said they were not taking them for Mother’s Day and it was first come first serve. I found this odd, but it’s Amarillo. Come Sunday (today) at 11:11 the wait time is 2:30 pm. I asked had they been taking reservations for today? She said yes. Who doesn’t love catching a liar? I’ll add that I had to call twice, because Emily “accidentally” hung up on me the first try. Maybe the staff could use an in service on customer service and business hours? This *was* my go to weekend brunch spot.
My daughter and I had dinner tonight and it was amazing. We had Jason as out server and he was awesome. He was so polite and was on top of everything. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp as the starter was great. My daughter had the lobster Mac and cheese and it was so creamy and delicious. I had the Cajun seafood Paella it had just the right amount of spice. The service the food and the atmosphere was really great. We just moved here from San Antonio a few months ago and I have to say hands down this is the best restaurant we have been too since we moved here. We highly recommend this place.
As a small business owner, I thought Id leave a message on their personal website. After not receiving even a got your message and sorry for your bad experience, I decided to leave a Google review to save you time and money. This place is definitely over priced for the quality of food youre receiving. The lobster mac and cheese was mediocre to decent at best. My seafood boil was less than mediocre. My corn was cold, the crawfish was overcooked and the fish was bland. The dish was cold and lacked flavor. Dinner for my wife and I was close to two hundred dollars. That included a bottle of wine, but Thank God for that bottle as it helped me finish my meal. If youre thinking why I ate this horrible meal and paid for it, thats a great question. We just finished an 8.5 hour drive and we were very hungry. We couldve eaten a dead horse, turns out we probably should have. So save your money and go somewhere else.
Overpriced mediocre food.If you wanna be fancy, Go to O.H.M.S cafe. You’ll get your money’s worth.Came here for my birthday and was so excited as it was my first time to eat there. My fish was seasoned with what seemed like a pound of salt. And the crawfish boil was laughable. Opted out on desert so we could leave quicker. We were still hungry when we left.
Being my first time I here and hearing such great things about this place, it would be fair to say that I had some high expectations. Surely enough, this really proved to be one of, if not my all time favorite culinary experiences (in my two decades of being alive mind you) ever, I’m not exaggerating either. The Cajun calamari appetizer was insane, so was the fish and chips, albeit they didn’t have Blue Moon on tap, the drinks were nonetheless spot on, as well as the Creme Brûlée that our server had chosen for me. Speaking of which, the restaurant personnel were extremely friendly our server Kiya especially, I really couldn’t put into words how friendly and charming of a person she was, you could say that her service alone was worth the five star rating. Overall the whole experience, live band included really did make this one of my favorite culinary experiences ever, check this place out!
This was highly recommended by our AirBnB hostess. We paid $60 for dozen oysters the size of my thumb. We did eat them, hoping they would get better. When they didnt, I asked to see the manager. He took off half but I should have spoken up sooner. Would not recommend.
Portions have gotten smaller and the service is losing steam. Drinks are very inconsistent when ordering and the wait staff gets confused on simple alcoholic drinks. Not sure what is going on but yall need to get it together and regroup. It is a great joint to eat and have drinks in town regularly but, for the price and the reputation of this establishment it should be top notch.
A very good Brunch dining experience. Jason was our server and did a grand job of recommending dishes and, more importantly, pacing the meal. DO is an upscale venue with an equivalent menu but the good news is that both the service and food quality were more than up to the task. They do use team serving which adds to the professionalism and level of service. We shared the perfectly cooked Calamari for an appetizer and for Mains Deb had the Lobster Mac and Cheese and I went with the Shrimp and Grits. Both were very good and, I must say, my Shrimp were cooked to perfection.I finished with the Bread Pudding and Deb the Creme Brulee. All in all a very good, and enjoyable, dining experience.
The food was delicious, the cocktails were strong, and the dessert.....boozey! A great atmosphere and very friendly staff rounds out the experience. We went for an early dinner, but they do have live music on the weekend in the evening. Definitely expect to drop a couple of bills on this place, but totally worth it! 👍👍
Excellent! Normally we go to steak or Mexican food restaurants. But the Drunken Oyster WILL be our new to go to restaurant! Tasteful deco, delightful waiter, fantastic Bloody Mary and use all the descriptive adjectives to understand the exquisite food! Go no place else! This is where you want to go to dinner tonight!
This was my first time. The atmosphere was phenomenal, however the food was not so impressive. Our waiter did his very best and was constantly refilling our drinks and making sure we were taken care of. Now back to the food. Ive never had crawfish and so I ordered 2lbs. Now if I didnt know what I was eating then I would not have had a issue. The flavor was there but my buddy is Cajun and he informed me that the shell should split and the meat should release from the shell. These did not. He explained, thats what happens when they cook them early in the day and leave them soaking in water. Now again Im not a crawfish expert. I do know how to cook corn and potatoes and even these two simple items were cold and hard. Not sure if Ill make it back.
The price you pay for what you get is a joke. I have never left a google review in my life, but this was Horrible. Straight robbery. You can get better oysters for cheaper anywhere in this town. I was excited to try this place out. Horribly disappointed. Their bacon wrapped shrimp is a crime too. You can get better food at a chain restaurant for much cheaper. I don’t know how they stay open. WowThe oysters were also very tiny. The biggest crime of them all was the bacon wrapped shrimp. Very expensive for the tiny portion and poor quality
Bloody Mary’s and food were good-especially for seafood in the panhandle! Atmosphere was a little much. I didn’t appreciate the want for no children...no kids menu, no high chairs/boosters in the restaurant. But if you’re looking for somewhere nice to go, childless, then it was great food and service!
Good service from a very helpful and friendly waiter! Food was good but not excellent, I felt it overpriced for what we got. Two of my appetizer oysters were bad. The dinner salad had way too much salad dressing, the pork special was just meh. The drinks were great, though! Again, another one of those places where customers dont have the good sense or good manners to wear masks. During a pandemic, please dont walk around the restaurant with your 2 year old to keep them entertained. Especially without a mask.
Steak literally melts in your mouth like butter each bite getting better then the last one Best steak in town although I go for the catfish blackened of course with balsamic vinegar and of course you must have a couple of drinks I recommend an old fashioned smoked with maple not a huge place a place where you can dress up or go casual I believe they take reservations on the weekend but if you just want to go in around 4 in the afternoon the best time I like to go
I ordered the Cajun Alfredo with shrimp and sausage for $16. I got a small bowl of what taste like macaroni and cheese with one shrimp cut in small pieces a total of 4 pieces and 5 small sausage pieces with a hard bread that my husband couldnt even make a bite. Very disappointed.
Had a great time. My 1st dining in s year. Perfect place to unwind. Went with fam Saturday afternoon. Hubby said it is our new go to spot. Returned on Sunday with the ladies. Carlos served us on Sat and Sun. He was great. He identified our special needs and delivered.Signed big city girl from Philly, Terry, who loves good cuisines.
Weve been fans of the Drunken Oyster since it opened-we held my daughters 1920s themed sweet sixteen there and have enjoyed brunches, dinners, themed events, and cocktails many times-always stellar. The ambiance is gorgeous and unique. Most recently, I ordered our Easter dinner for pick-up during this crazy pandemic-a Prime Strip Roll with all the trimmings. We live roughly an hour away from the restaurant, and when I got home and unloaded all of our food, I realized we were missing the pea salad that should have been included. I sent a quick message, expecting to be offered a refund on the side dish, but was told Dont worry, well happily deliver it to you. I told them that was a kind offer but explained about how far away we were, and the reply was, This was our mistake, and were going to make it right. Someone was on the way IMMEDIATELY, despite the long drive in a nasty 50mph wind. You absolutely cannot beat that kind of unbelievable customer service. And the food--Im a pretty good cook, but if I had made our own Easter dinner it would not have held a candle to what we enjoyed from the Drunken Oyster. Id recommend this place to anyone!
In town on business. I sat at the bar and the bartender Cameron, was great! He gave excellent suggestions, was attentive and poured a great drink. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the flavors were excellent but the grits were a little too gritty for my taste. I prefer them creamier, but they were still good. The vibe is chill, like a speak easy, the prices are high, but I would definitely come back. I don’t mind paying for good seafood!!
Fist time eating here the food was good but the drinks are really high both my husband and I got one drink each and it was 23.00, I had a hurricane and he had a moscow mule and not that good, plus it was in the afternoon and they turned most of the lights off, making it really dark and lit candles, at 4.00
The live music is fantastic, and the place has a great vibe! The service is excellent. The food is good, but a bit overpriced, particularly the appetizers. We werent impressed by the alligator bites, or fried cheese. The shrimp & grits are really good! My personal preference is to have tails taken off before serving.
We were driving through late and saw this restaurant was still open and holding tables. The reviews were solid so we said we would give it a whirl. Even though it is seafood and Cajun in the upper Texas area. It was fantastic. The shrimp grits were well seasoned and creamy. The catfish was perfect. The alligator was great! The pasta was perfectly cooked. And the fish and chips were superb. What a relief to get a 5 Star meal at 11 at night in Amarillo, Texas. Also, our server was fantastic. I don’t remember your name but you served a family of 5 and my daughter says this is her new favorite restaurant ever.
Not much of a seafood person myself, but my brother is, which is why weve gone there a few times. My brother loves the seafood there and says it is one of the better places in town. I had the Bayou Burger and can honestly say it was on point! The staff was amazing and super friendly, although a little pricey. Overall though, would highly recommend!!
My husband and I went here for the first time for our date night on Tuesday July 21, and, wow, it did not disappoint! We had an amazing server Ashton (sp?) who was delightful, funny, and just had a great table-side manner! He did a great job describing the special and telling us about the desserts. The beer selection was excellent and the cocktail choices are mixed with skill. The margarita I had (okay I had 2😜) was so smooth. Before I get to the food, I want you to know that I judge a place on the aesthetics as well. This place spared almost no expense when it comes to decor! It is beautifully decorated and as authentic as possible outside New Orleans. Even the bathrooms were nicely done and clean. My only issues, too minor to drop a 🌟, were the chairs. I just didnt feel like they went with the aesthetic, and for my big behind, they werent comfortable enough to sit in for an extended period of time. But lets talk about the food! Eating out has been hard since my husband was diagnosed with a milk allergy (not lactose intolerance) later in life. Our server was extremely accommodating and informative, which made this place a very comfortable restaurant for us to eat at. My husband had oysters and I had the jambalaya, and both were excellent! The alligator bites were also cooked well and not over done, which is a true testament to the skills of the chef. As it was a Tuesday, there was no live music, and I forgot to inquire as to whether or not there was live music on the weekends because of COVID-19, but there is a stage for it. I hope to be able to come on a night with live music. I also want to say that our server Ashton was attentive but not lurking, which I like a lot. I hate eating in restaurants when Im made to feel that turning tables is the most important thing. I LOVE DRUNKEN OYSTER and cant wait to be back! ❤️P. S. I dont agree with the negative reviews at all. After reading some of the other reviews regarding price, it was very clear that many people might compare prices to other restaurants like popular chains that can afford to have lower prices because the quality is not the same. We easily spent over $100 last night, but it was worth it! 2 dozen oysters, large portions, an appetizer, plus 4 drinks, which two were cocktails made with house-made ingredients, and the atmosphere was worth every penny and not unusual. There is also a difference when you are in a restaurant that has a professional chef as opposed to just a cook. Furthermore, get to know your server, especially by name, because excellent restaurants such as this one rely on this because the servers represent the house. Ask questions if you are unsure and make sure your bill is accurate. The menu is online so there should be no surprises regarding prices.
Got seated and had our silverware on a bare table which was quite a turn off especially during these times but nun the less i wanted to give it a try. At the table was our dining utensils and glasses for our waters. After our waitress poured our water i saw old food or some kind of matter in all of our four cups little did i know the water in the bottle we were giving to pour had food or something in it. This was straight disgusting and we told the waitress and she was very apologetic and helpful. I got the simpleton which was eggs potatoes and sausage a very sub par meal for $12. All in all the food was bellow average and very pricey i honestly think denny’s has better food and service. on baby. 🚫🧢
Hands down, my all time favorite restaurant in Amarillo. Get the Cajun Boil! If you’re ballin on a budget, get the blackened catfish. I can’t remember what I’ve had for brunch but it’s always been amazing. Incredible atmosphere, perfect for dates, dinner with friends, celebrations, anything. Hell I’ve ate here by myself a few times. Must try if haven’t been!
This place was a pleasant surprise on our long trip across the country. We got here around 9pm and they were still serving dinner til 12am...how awesome is that! Service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. Everything we had was super delicious and I would have to say better than a lot of the so called high pedigree and pretentious dining in San Francisco.
Well we came in today first time today heard so much from other locals about price of drinks and food well we were like what the hell lets just go ! Only thing I was disappointed in About This Restaurant was that we didnt come sooner !! Food was Amazing!!! Drinks Are Amazing! Patrick The Bartender is the best !!! A++ FOR HIM LITERALLY TOOK Time OUT TO EXPLAIN MENU for 10 minutes Such A Great Person, Everything about this place is superb food service Atmosphere you want Quality food and seafood Youre just gonna have to pay for it Simple As That Mike & Crystal Mitchell your new Customers For Ever !
Food was pretty good. The price was a bit above the quality of the food we received. Service was fantastic despite the fact that our waiter had his wrist, pinky, and ring finger in a cast (dude was a champ). Although the atmosphere is nice in photographs, it makes it very difficult to see during daily hours. If we go back we will make sure to sit at the bar.
It is still a soft opening so they are training the staff and working out the kinks but the food was well worth the wait. We tried 4 different entrées and it was all delicious. They have a variety of craft beers and the tea was fresh, not cloudy and not overly sweet. The fries were great and Ive never had a better bread pudding. We plan to return in about a month when they are fully open.
Excellent food, atmosphere, and live music. I really felt like I was in New Orleans. The alligator bites are delicious and I had their special at the time which was a salmon with a watermelon dressing and it was very good. The drinks were also well made. The live jazz band they had was awesome!
My first and second time here wasnt great, however, I felt I needed to add a new review because I could eat here every night if I could afford it. We were there once and they had flown in a fresh macao shark, our first to try it and it was so delicious. The presentation was so neat with the red splatters on the plate. You must try the Lobster Mac and if you like to drink try the Absinthe, it is so fun! Love this place.
Do not order delivery or takeout from here. First time my girlfriend and I ordered delivery they only gave us one item out of 6 and didnt make the food to order. 2nd time we tried to order pickup figuring it would be better and we could check the food there but low and behold same thing happened and they missed half the order. Dont offer delivery and pickup if you cant handle it this is unacceptable especially considering the price of the food.
So yummy!! We’ve gotten food Togo from here twice now and it’s just as good as at the restaurant. Which is rare to find. My 7yr old loves their chicken tenders, and I love just about everything else haha! I had the blackened salmon for the first time tonight and it was beyond delicious. Best fish I’ve had in Amarillo in a long time! Definitely worth trying if you’ve never been.
The atmosphere is really nice, but it is way overpriced and the food was not very good. I dont like fish, so I ordered the classic kitchen gumbo, which is listed as having sausage and chicken. When it came out, it had a crawfish head in it, which really grossed me out. The waitress assured us that it wasnt made with crawfish, and that it was just the head. She asked if I was allergic, and then had them take it out. I was still pretty grossed out, but decided it wouldnt be that big of a deal. However, the gumbo itself was very salty. I love gumbo, but this was not good at all. My husband ordered the fry basket. The catfish and the potatoes were pretty bland, and the tartar sauce tasted kind of sour. We expected their seafood to at least be good because we were told that it was so expensive because it was flown out fresh. Overall a very disappointing experience. We wont be going back.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Food tastes great, but dont expect a lot of food for the price. It wants to be a high end eatery, but weve had way better for the same price point. Not many seafood restaurants to choose from in Amarillo so youre out of too many options for this type of food. The chairs are cold, uncomfortable, metal seats that you slide off of.In the end, good flavor, nice staff, low quantities for the price, uncomfortable seating. Not a top choice.
We found this place by accident - thank goodness!!! The raw bar was truly excellent and the oysters perfectly shucked! The live music by Ty Blackburn was a wonderful addition to the ambiance and experience. @tyblackburnmusic.comWe shared the Cajun Paella and Louisiana Bread Pudding, both were outstanding‼️ We will pay homage to our Sunday afternoon at the Drunken Oyster by recreating the Carmel Pecan Whiskey kissed sauce for our own bread pudding. And I must say, the topping of this lovely experience was Dillion, an excellent server with a charming personality, able to answer all of our questions and related the dream and vision of the Chef/Owner with clarity and passion. Thank you Dillion and Crew!
I highly recommend this place if you like Cajun food or just want a good bit of fish. We met with some friends about 2 pm yesterday. Ate an appetizer. Then a main dish. Then a desert. We were there 4 hours. The service was great. The food was excellent. We didnt feel any pressure to leave from the waiter or staff. We left before the place started filling up for the supper crowd.
Wanted to take my girlfriend somewhere special for her birthday so I chose this location.Worst $100 I’ve spent. All the mistakes that made this a bad experience are things management should have trained the staff on. Greeting your table in a timely matter, Have FOOD KNOWLEDGE!” , checking up on a table within 2 minutes to ensure they are enjoying their meal, not eating at the host stand in front of guest, not congregating at the host stand while guest need service. The food was 3.5 out of 5. The$12 hurricane was 1/5. Either the bartender is not following the recipe, or not pouring the right measurements, But this tasted like watered down passion fruit juice.
Hands down my absolute favorite restaurant in Amarillo. I love this place. I don’t even eat seafood but eating here I have to have my oysters. I went one Sunday for brunch and although the menu was limited, I still had a delicious meal along with amazing mimosas. I cannot say enough about Drunken Oyster! It’s the kind of place I will always recommend.
The food was 4*, but Daniel and Patrick were 6* so 5* total. The bluefish pasta special was good overall, but that perfectly cooked spicy fish deserved more than the pasta it came with. The Powder Point and Fin de la baie oysters (recommended by Daniel) were very briny and earthy. The Shrimp & Grits, very delicious, needed a spoon for that spicy sauce to be truly appreciated. The Bananas Foster was also tasty but some texture (crepe, cinnamon pastry, etc.) was missing. The highlight was Daniels TRUE Southern Hospitality and Patricks enthusiastic beverage service. #NoWindmillPolitics
The food was fine, but if you dont like Cajun spices this is not the place for you. Kinda pricey for what you get. I got the lobster mac. The pasta was clumped together and there were 5 very small pieces of lobster. I think it was $24. On the other hand the fish and chips were a great value. The fish could have used a little salt and there was none on the table. If there isnt going to be salt and pepper on the table, the food needs to be seasoned perfectly. The service was not great. My husband had to ask for a glass and lime for his beer 3 times. All that said, the first time we went the food was delicious and the service perfect. I will go back again for the tie breaker.
This restaurant is amazing. If youre willing to spend some money, please come do it here! I encourage you to make a reservation, so that you do not have to pay a $10 fee. Our server Sydnie G was very prompt and attentive. She helped us with choosing our meal and drinks. We had the Friday special, which was the Blue fish Marlin. It was delicious! My husband had the Bluepoint oysters and I only heard great things from him. We finished off our meal with the bread pudding dessert and it was the best in town. The service was awesome and the atmosphere was very enjoyable since there was live music! I will be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Service (Kyla) was horrible. She never came back to check on us. We got two bottles of water for seven people. My food was so spicy I could not even eat it...when she brought the check I told her about it and she said AHHH. She knew her tip was included with seven people, so she made not effort . Will not go back
Im only giving a 3 star rating based on the atmosphere of the Drunken Oyster. I am a delivery driver and I was not pleased with the way the staff (MANAGER) talked to an employee in front of everyone. I was asked several times what I was there for but they were so busy and un organized that they never came back to give me an update on the order I was waiting on. It took a good while until I received my order. The bartender was also very rude. I was asked to speak up several times as he asked what I was standing around for? I replied, several times until I was practically yelling at him. Then he has the odassity to tell the customers sitting at the bar that I am pretty rude for being a delivery driver. He could here them just fine and they were talking at the same volume as I was when I replied to him the first time. Very unprofessional atmosphere. The food did smell and look good.
Well I cant say enough how wonderful this place is. Each and every time Ive go Ive tried something different and its all been very very good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting always meet somebody new and interesting. Its really awesome to have a restaurant that provides different varieties of oysters in the north part of Texas I think that thats a rarity. They help educate you on the different regions where they come from and more importantly what their flavor profile will be. Im always willing to try something new and exciting and they definitely have it. I also appreciate the ability to have a reservation or just pop in and grab a quick dinner at the bar, they also have great wine list. Darn this place is too close to the house sorry honey, love you drunken oyster!
This restaurant is excellent. Very upscale and there were no corners cut with the decor. We just had drinks at the bar but I was impressed with the bar tenders and service. We had a grenade and hurricane. I’m from New Orleans so i wasn’t sure what to expect but the drinks did not disappoint. There was also a live band tonight who were excellent! We will be back to try the food.
The blackened catfish was exquisite. I had some of my son’s. The fondue was amazing. I myself came for the oysters. There was a variety to choose from. Having once lived in Savannah Georgia I was extremely impressed with the freshness and taste. The atmosphere very inviting and staff were incredibly friendly.
If you want good food for a good price then this is a poor choice. If you are interested in a paying up the nose for a trendy environment and terrible food, this is the place for you. I have had better oysters at Scotts Oyster Bar a couple miles across town. I have also tried a couple other dishes here such as the gumbo and the shrimp & grits. They were flavorless, bland, and very uninspired. They ruin tried and true dishes. Unfortunately it is much like the Boot Hill Saloon that flopped in Vega, poor food and bad pricing.
Wife called earlier in the week and made a reservation for 2 in the small room away from the bar as we wanted a little more of a quiet atmosphere for our anniversary dinner. When we arrived we were informed that a large party called in a reservation a little earlier today and they were being placed in the smaller room and we had been bumped out to the noisy main area. Food was good for the most part but this was definitely not the atmosphere we were looking for. We left before the live music started.
Nice atmosphere. Charbroiled oysters were fantastic! The menu doesnt show any quantities or amounts, so we were a little surprised that $18 was only a half dozen. Best zucchini ever. Would be more comfortable if the 2-top seating area had more privacy. It was like we were at dinner with 2 other families. One suggestion - Could a manager check on customers during this soft opening to see how their experience is going? Overall, it was great.
Our waitress was very nice and very attentive to our needs. The restaurant looked great and the decor was really interesting in a great was. I ordered the fried shrimp poor boy. It only had three shrimp on it. Med/large size shrimp I would say. The price was $15 that is 5 per shrimp. I am not impressed...the build up then the let down. I like the idea of quality over quantity but, there is a point of equal levels and D.O. missed it.
This place was open on the 4th of July so I stopped in to grab some lunch. The seafood boil was amazing and the mojito oysters were even better. The atmosphere was very welcoming and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was very accommodating and just a great person. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and definitely plan to go back. If you want some great seafood and a great atmosphere, this is the place to go!
I have been here a few times now and I absolutely love this restaurant. From the atmosphere to the food, everything is great. The prices are a bit high, but it is well worth it. I have never once had trouble walking in and getting a table and our waitresses have been very nice every time I have gone in as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great atmosphere, great food, tried the ettoufee and the clam linguine, delicious. A little expensive, but worth it. Im always on the lookout for the best bread pudding! They did not disappoint!! No raisins! Just the right amount of sauce to bread pudding, texture was just right!!
Always come here food and service amazing 👏 went in today got a table for first time we allways sit @ bar top tried table today. went with my uncle who had come in town from Dallas had the broil for two added lobster and had gumbo soup and ordered osters and bread pudding and beignets food was out of this world!!!!!! Only thing I have to say is our service was not the best i felt like the server was going to hit me over the head with a pot from the kitchen lol still left him a 25$ tip though only issue Ive ever had ever back to the bar top next time we come !
Ordered a hamburger medium and it was very rare. Meet was still good angus beef. Asked to substitute a salad fo French fries . They brought out a small salad with hardly any dressing. Charged $6 for salad. It had no dressing, wouldnt have me Ned the upcharge but could have told me. I was there on Thursday for lunch and there were only 12. People there. I guess they to get more from each person to make up for being slow.My wife had shrimp and grits, she said they were good, she wanted fresh jalapeños instead of peppers and there was a $4 upcharge. So a hamburger and grits were $45. The grits were not even a childs serving. The food is good , have been there several times. This is the first time I felt like I was over charged and ripped off. The first time we got a 4 oz plate. They our probably having problems in this pandemic and cant get good help.

2022-02-05Im in town for work and was really surprised to find such an outstanding restaurant. The food was fantastic, the service was great, love music was good. My only complaint is the TVs - if Im coming to a nice dinner like this I dont want it to feel like a sports bar. If I have occasion to come back I plan to ask to be seated in the smaller side room without visibility to the TVs. My co-worker and I both ordered market price items and they were very reasonably priced for what they were.

2022-05-19I took my fiancé here for her birthday and really loved it. The food was cooked to perfection, the bathrooms were very cleaned, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the music that was playing was lively and at a good volume. We wanted to definitely eat here and try new restaurants in town. The Cajun food and general seafood was cooked really well. Particularly our appetizer (Cajun Fried Calamari) was quite delicious. We also had wine and a martini. My fiancé had “The voodoo queen” which was sweet and one of the best mixed drinks. Overall if you’re willing to spend a good chunk of change to go to a really nice restaurant, I’m sure it will definitely be worth the cost both in quality and the amount of food that you will get.

2022-04-10We love their food here. Delicious shrimp and grits, interesting drinks, great burgers and fish and chips. My husband also likes the gumbo and they usually have delicious fish specials. Servings are not small and prices reflect a nicer dining experience. The service is usually very good. We prefer the patio which is very nice and often the only option on weekends if you don’t have reservations. Our most recent experience we sat on the patio. It was great except for the guy who smoked a cigarette three times during our meal sitting close to us. (I wish they didn’t allow smoking out there. You pay a nice fee for a good dinner but it can be ruined by second-hand smoke.) We actually prefer NOT to sit inside because the live music is so loud. We love live music but it’s unpleasant to have to yell across the table at friends, especially when you’re dining at a nice restaurant. We decided on our recent visit to order the chocolate mousse for dessert and… well, it was rather disappointing. It tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge for 3 days. We’ve had other desserts on other visits and had a great experience. Maybe it was an off night? If the weather is nice, eat on the patio but try to be seated away or down-wind from any smokers. You’ll still hear the live music coming from inside and you’ll get to enjoy a sunny day with comfy pillows under the awnings.

2021-10-11Weve lived in Amarillo for 4 years now and have never eaten at the Drunken Oyster. We finally tried it and absolutely loved it. It has a very high-end atmosphere, you dont feel like youre in Amarillo, you could be in Chicago or New York. The food was amazing, I had the Shrimp and Grits and thought it was the best Ive ever had. The overall portions are consistent with high-end restaurants but I had plenty of shrimp on my dish. As you might expect, the prices are higher than most Amarillo restaurants but I would say its totally worth it. This is not a place to bring your kids, its for a couples date night or for singles to take someone on a first date. You will find people dressed very casual as well as people dressed up nicely for a night on the town. It felt good for us to dress nice for a classy night out. I would definitely recommend eating here with your spouse.

2021-08-14We had never been here before, and we were totally blown away when we walked in! For a place called Drunken Oyster, this place is beautiful! Our food was great, too! The fried oyster appetizer was wonderful, and I got the seafood dish that I cant pronounce, and it was AMAZING! (It was a spicy dish with shrimp, squid and clams over noodles) We didnt have a reservation on Sunday for lunch, but they were still able to get us a table! They even had live music from Mila Harris, and it was beautiful!!

2022-04-09Had the red sangria which was amazing, and we got the seafood boil with dungeon crab and a pound of crawfish. It was absolutely phenomenal, the catfish is so good we’ve never had anything like it before and we’ve tried many seafood boils before but this one made it to the top of our list!It does not disappoint!
