Nice windy warm day. Entrance was nice with the water fall for nirds to drink. A bird motel inn very nice. Walking trails crazy twists and turns fun to look for birds and reptiles. Plants and trees of different forms. Kids area to play campsite. But the ponds we loved it. But it comes short of a walk. We didnt get to enter the gift shop. But over all nice place to sit and enjoy the birds watch. Come at your own risk.
It was so nice! I cant believe I never knew this place existed! Lots of beauty to see. Wish I couldve seen more wildlife, but it was a really nice place to go for a walk. They have discounts for students if you bring your ID. I would like to come again some time. I liked it. Im glad we have this in Edinburg.
Clean bathrooms, handicap friendly, plenty of benches along the way for those who maye be concerned of needing to take breaks, friendly staff, diaper changing station, stroller friendly! Great environment for kids, not too big compared to other parks, cozy-like Nature Center. Season pass is dirt cheap, goes for a good cause and allows you to bring many folks along. We saw a red cardinal this past week. Planning on taking my 2 toddlers regularly for healthy sun exposure (the body requires it), exercise, and for my own sanity (lol). It helps me with my depression, wild hormones, to get outdoors and clear perspective(s) while soaking up the nature beauty. My son likes holding the map papersheet they hand out, the bird check sheet, in combo with trails, it is like Dora, haha! Going to bring a book(s) for us to read while they explore. Easier to learn while having fun at the same time. RGV needs rain desperately, so expect more brown than green. Anywho, I hope this encourages somebody!
Had a nice visit but missed seeing the birds it wildlife. It was slim pickings when I visited. Nice grounds and facilities. Trails and ponds were nice. Lots of Egrets mostly on my visit. I did see two snakes doing there breeding dance which was cool. Ill business again in a few weeks to see whats there.
Located in the Edinburg Municipal Park, there is a small fee to enter the grounds which includes a beautiful nature walk and building with local bird photos and information. Outdated photography does not really portray the beauty of these bird species. A snake is in an aquarium but I am not sure how this helps to educate the public. Look for the cute acorn seats outside along your nature walk. Once you are here, you should take the time to enjoy all that the park has to offer.
Great place to visit with family. They have all kinds of nice little wood features for kids to enjoy. You get to experience nature in a relatively protected environment (you can still hear cars driving by). There are plenty of kiskirees and chachalacas around. Not too big but not too small, great place for a 30 minute nature power walk.
This place is like a little slice of heaven. Breathtakingly beautiful! There are wild birds on the ground, in the trees, on the water, they are everywhere! Sometimes I forget my binoculars but the birds are always so close that I dont need them☺️ If you look on their website they also have special events. As well as photography sessions you can pay for. Theres also a huge park near the premises and a huge walking/running trail 🏞️
Really beautiful area with very interesting birds to look at and hear. The butterfly area was great too given it’s size. For the price of entry ($3/adult), you really get a lot more than what you’re paying for with the many different areas and bird variety. Fun for all ages, definitely recommend going at least once
Great place to walk, aimlessly amble, or even meander a bit :) We watched a presentation on reptiles, these seem to be a regular event geared towards kids. We got to see tiny frogs, turtles, and even a hummingbird. Theres an entry fee but its minimal and there are annual passes if you plan on being a regular.
This place is awesome! We went for the first time this past week Nov 23, 2020. Covid rules are implied when in buildings to use the restrooms and when approaching people around the trails. The place is very well kept. We enjoyed it very much and will visit again in the future.
Such a beautiful bird and wildlife sanctuary. Many trails to walk and bike on, as well as benches and tables to sit and rest while watching the birds. The 2 ponds and different flowers/plants attract egrets, herons, ducks, chacalacas, turtles, various types of butterflies, hummingbirds and Kiskadees. It is very quiet and relaxing. I am planning to get the yearly membership next time I go. There are so many wonderful things to see.
This is an amazing place. Weve been members for 3 years, for $25 a year you receive a pass for up to 8 people on each visit. The area is very well landscaped and well maintained. Our granddaughter is visiting this week and she really enjoyed it. Take your camera! Lots of photo ops.
First time visiting and it was great. They have a lot of little trails with butterflies aplenty. The lake overlooks are nice. On this visit, the childrens outdoor play area was closed off. Across the street there are 4 nice playgrounds (1 wheel chair accessible) and 2 large pavilions for kids to play as well.
Beautiful little spot. Not too big, makes for a nice nature walk. It is city run, and schools like to use it for field trips so dont be surprised to see groups taking tours. Theyre easy to avoid so its not a big deal. Good variety of birds and butterflies. Staff is very friendly as well.
This place is very tranquil. You are not allowed to bring a dog, but that allows the wildlife to be safer. The best time to come is at sunrise and sunset. Brink water and sunscreen. A hat and comfortable shoes and clothes. The majority of people who come are older. They like to bird watch. It is not encouraged to run but you can get away with it if you are careful . Just be advised that if you get hurt , it falls on you. The park is ment to casually enjoy nature. Take pictures, all you want. Its a nice place...
A surprising Hidden Gem in the City of Edinburg. Well laid-out and Landscape pads Meander through a myriad number of Botanical specimens. Feels like the resource of a very much larger City. Unique with in Edinburg. Teaching Center has a variety of exhibits. Standard gift shop with books and stuffed animals for the kids. Will allow you to rent binoculars if you exchange your photo ID. To holding ponds and canals are good viewing spots for wildlife. Overall an enjoyable experience with children.
Only giving 4 stars because they were open till 10pm and it was poorly lit. I walked next to a bush and there was one of those chubby poisonous spiders hanging from it😭 while it scared me, it didnt present any danger to me. We had two 7 year olds and a little 5 year old with us, given the opportunity they could have wanted to play with such a cool spider😣 frightening to think of!! The fairy event was awesome! Maybe add more lighting?
Really Beautiful trials to walk on it. Even the animals ducks and fish are friendly. The only reason I would not give it 5 star is due to the city. They can due a better job cleaning the trash in the trial, fixing the wood walks, and they can invest the money in so beautiful full place in the heart of the city. Please City of Edinburg don’t let this place go down.
I found the Edinburg Birding Center entirely by accident, but it is well-worth going out of your way to visit. I was in Edinburg for a political rally, and only had half an hour to spend, but was enchanted by how many species I saw in a small area in that brief amount of time. The chacalaca was new to me--about the size of a chicken, and apparently likes to walk about, in the company of others, willing to show itself, while keeping a safe distance away. I saw mockingbirds, (either several, or one which was very energetic), a yellow rumped warbler, a bold titmouse, and a ladderback woodpecker, all while I was in one small area, and appearing almost faster than I could focus my camera to shoot photos of them.Ive ear-marked this as a birding site I definitely want to return to, when I have a few days for birding! Amazing find, right in the center of Edinburg, too!
●Beautiful grounds that offer a wonderful, natural habitat for native flora and fauna to enjoy and experience.●Such a breath of fresh air in the middle of a concrete and asphalt jungle.●A facility dedicated to promoting knowledge, conservation, and stewardship of the native habitat Rio Grande Valley.●An excellent place to go birding and hone your native plant identification skills.
A reliable place in the winter and early spring to see Green Kingfishers, various ducks, egrets, Kiskadees, thrushes, Osprey and various warblers. In the park outside the wetlands there are usually White Pelicans and Blacknecked Stilts. Costs $3 ($2 SRS) to get in but money goes to a good cause and it is worth the price.
Kind of cheesy. When I went I was expection lots of exotic birds being the WORLDS birding center only saw some ducks and one other bird. And also for being the WORLD birding center seemed kinda small. Please just rename to birding center so no one will come expecting something thats not really there. Best part is the mosquito breeding pond that part was just itching with excitment.
This place charges to go in but the park is free, this area has been good qualities because the local live and people are living together and making the valley stay beautiful, a lot of people do not know that the valley was once all wet lands and the tropical nature of the species should not surprise anyone because they are the true natives

2022-01-14Simply beautiful. My husband and I visited this center today as our weekly date. I loved it! There werent too many birds during this winter time but the scenery was great!! Front male clerk was also very polite. Will surely recommend this place to family and friends. I am just wondering if we are able to take family photos here?

2022-02-01Some buttons are completely broken in the demo room for the birds. Besides that, place is kept flawless very neatly trimmed trails and lots of wildlife. Great nature activity for beginners or people that dont want to walk too much and still see some nice scenery. 4/5

2020-06-15Beautiful bird sanctuary with lots of plants, flowers and cactus. We saw many gorgeous butterflies and a few lizards as well. There is a large lake there with a few nice outlooks of the lake and also a few smaller ponds. Many benches and other areas to rest with lots of shade throughout. There is also a childrens area with a small playground and fun things to do for kids. Would definitely recommend to any nature lovers or people visiting, or families with kids! Bring lots of water, sunscreen and big spray.
