El Fenix in other cities:
Food was ok. Waitress was great!Don’t order the spicy margarita unless you want to drink straight mix. No spice and I’m sure there wasn’t any tequila in it. Sent them back and manager refused to make it right and took them off the table. We won’t be back, unfortunately the managers attitude wrecked that.
Got there at 8pm and doors were locked and lights were on and its a Thursday night April 28th, 2022. Called them and they said so sorry, come on in. So turn around and go back. When we get inside they say sorry we are closed. But they dont close til 9pm. Well theyre sorry but theyre understaffed. But we just called and was told come on in. Sorry but we are not serving anymore as the girl at the register is steadily shaking her head pretty hard no. Im sorry but this is very bad business. Especially with restaurants everywhere are shutting down or having hard times staying open. I see El Fenix falling in the near future. Shame on you. Id like to know where the manager was because we were stopped before we could actually get all of the way in. Stopped at the second door. Rude, rude, rude. We chose to go to Applebees instead. Thank you #Applebees. Great service
We all got are food at different times. They took some back that were wrong. Then they brought out the fajita sides and it was another 10 minutes are so to get the actual fajitas and they werent very good. And the chicken ones only had 5 slices of thin chicken. The waitress was trying but the kitchen kept messing up. I think I will stick to the El Fenix off of I-20
Astounding! The food was so tasteful.. The prices are tremendous for the quantity and quality of the food you get. Complementary chips and salsa to go along with the food makes it all complete! Not only was the food good, but so was the service! When we arrived, there was two families in line, including mine. The waitress offered to seat us both at once for our convenience! (At different tables of course.) I could not of had a better experience. I do suggest splitting a plate with someone not because of price, but because of the amazing quantity! It was all around a good time.
Lunch at El Fenix with Michael & Jon. It took a bit to get our food, it wasnt busy either. The plate was hot but the food was not. Got my taco order wrong but they made it right. Acting like it was my fault they brought the wrong food out. And he says Im not gonna charge you for that taco. (Well, I didnt order that taco, why would you?). Other than that & the restrooms needed a cleaning, it was ok. Oh yea, the Chips were really good!
Enjoyed an incredible dinner! Vira, my waitress, was so friendly and accommodating with her recommendations! Shanna, the manager, was so incredible that she even brought me another margarita herself! I loved the food, atmosphere and amazing customer-centric attitudes of we everyone working. I will always cherish this place and the memories it created for our family.Kudos To An Amazing Staff! $$: Menu, 5-Stars: Service, cleanliness, customer service, drinks, management, and all staff.Highly Recommend THIS LOCATION!!
Good food , good service. Been here a couple of times and never disappointed. The atmosphere is always terrific and the the servers friendly. When I want to take my wife to somewhere fairly quite and be able to have a quiet discussion then this is the place. So many places just dont give you that anymore. Why 4 stars instead of 5 you ask... A little maintenance goes a long way instead of a bucket under the sink fix it it only takes a few minutes and doesnt make the customers feel uncomfortable.
Wow. Best service experience we’ve ever had. We were driving from Houston and called ahead to make sure they still had enough of the menu items we wanted and they had time to serve us. The Manager, Marcus, took our order over the phone and told us he would have it ready when we arrived. He did. We were blown away. The food was amazing and so worth the trip. My favorite El Fenix location now. We’ll be back for sure.
Came in 15 minutes before closing thought I would be a sport in order to go instead of having them seat me although they were willing to cede me food was terribly cold Taco wasnt even put together had to put the taco together myself I guess thats supposed to keep it from wilting small portions for El Fenix not even any chili con carne on my enchiladas very disappointing the one-off Cooper and I-20 is way better
National Margarita Day & I’m thoroughly disappointed!! I first ordered the margarita on the rocks & it tasted like watered down Gatorade. I then ordered frozen & it tasted like a frozen lemonade drink. I definitely do not recommend this as a place for a girls night out. We had to order shots just to make them decent. Other than the long wait & weak drinks our server Will was fun & made our night more pleasurable.
Good Food and service, lengthy checkout! We were greeted and seated quickly, our server was attentive and friendly, our food and drinks were served timely and as ordered. My only complaint was the amount of time it took to.pay the bill. There were 3 other groups waiting at the cashier stand, but, no one.was there to collect our money. After more than five minutes we went in search of an.employee to accept.payment.
We never really cared much for El Fenix. The food just wasnt as good as either Casa Bonita or Panchos in our opinions, but its vastly improved over the past 40 years and is becoming one of our go-to favorites in Burleson. The chips & salsa are particularly tasty; so light and crispy. ... The chips; not the salsa.I wouldve liked to have been a member of the Clean Plate Club, but honestly couldnt eat another bite, which is sad because it was all so good. =(
All around a very bad experience. We had a party of five and the hostess tried sitting us at a table for 4. When we asked for a bigger table she rolled her eyes. We should have left there, but we didnt. The drinks took forever coming out, and it we were almost halfway through our meal by the time we got our last drink order (sodas, not alcohol). The food came out very cold like they got it from the fridge and slepped on microwaved plates. We asked for refills all the time and never got any. It wasnt until we saw the manager that our needs were met.
I want to thank the staff for the great experience my family had tonight! Everyone from the hostess to the cashier were all friendly, happy and made us feel welcome. Special thanks go to the bartender who was our waiter. (Wish I had his name) He was on his game tonight! Didnt forget anything, checked in on us just the right amount, and was a pleasure. Me and my family really appreciate it.The fajitas were great, the hot sauce was great, and of course the beer was great! 😁
Fast and tasty service! Came for the lunch specials and everything was served hot and in a timely manner. Ruben was an attentive and friendly server. Lastly, this is my mom’s very favorite place for cheese enchiladas, so we always have to stop by if we are in the area. Check it out!
My mom and I just had a WONDERFUL lunch. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing, as always. Marcie, our server today, was incredibly quick, very inviting, and could even read that my mother would want an iced tea to go. The manager, Mina, came by our table to chat with us, which is really refreshing these days and made us feel very taken care of. It was one of the first restaurants Ive eaten out at since the pandemic began over a year ago and it was a great experience.
I LOVE COMING HERE. All the staff is so friendly and I see the servers helping one another. Management is very attentive. The food is wonderful. I had the shrimp quesadilla, so juicy and cheesy! My server was Anna, she was quickly and timely. Great sense of humor. We will ask for her next time!
The server we had was wonderful and kind. The food was good. The cashier, A.B. was a little confused if she wanted to be nice or passive aggressively rude to everyone that was in line. The food industry is hard and brutal, I know, but not one of us were mean to her or deserving, so it wasnt cool. Not sure she should be the first and last person you see when she leaves that impression.
I love coming to el Felix. The food always leaves me feeling satisfied, and looking forward to going back. The chips and salsa are the best I’ve had anywhere and if my service was ever sub par the manager noticed and corrected it, and made up for it which has always spoken volumes with myself and my guests. Will always come back for more
El Fenix had a place in my heart and the community as a restaurant that was authentic and followed tradition. Sadly my experience tonight was not at all the tradition I was accustomed to. The food was average, the wait was average, the poor waiter we had had so many tables he was barely keeping up. Someone kept dropping and breaking plates in the back. The price was decent but for the dollars extra and 20 minutes up the road I could have had better. Maybe as things get back to normal and staffing increases so will the restaurant.
My brother and I went there at 11:00 when they open. They sat us in a booth back by the kitchen and my brother is in a wheelchair. Chips and salsa was best part of lunch. When we ordered our food it was like it was already cooked and waiting it was like he walked back to kitchen and back out with food. The enchiladas tasted old and tough. Dont know if we will go nack.
This was my first visit to this location, but the food did not disappoint! My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because they were short staffed and it took awhile. This wasnt really a bad thing because I was with a group of women and we were all catching up. Just being honest though :)
Fantastic! Hadnt been to an El Fenix in years but went for a family Birthday meal...16 of us and awesome! Fast and everyone ENJOYED their meal. Waiter was exceptional. In the end I commented this may just be my NEW FAVORITE OLD MEXICAN PLACE TO GO! WERE TALKING IN BURLESON near J C PENNEY WHICH YEARS AGO was an old Panchos. But yes, if you havent given El Fenix a try recently, you really should as I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Good food and Great Service. Will definitely go back. Would have gotten 5 stars but some of the items just werent filled enough mostly tortilla like the enchilada. The Carne Asada was very good. The Fire rosted queso was a spicy treat. A good place for lunch or dinner.
We sat down and waited 8 minutes just to get chips and a drink. There was 3 of us.. A table of 7 came in dat down and was helped right a way with chips and drink orders. This has happened to us twice now its not right And my order was wrong so everyone was eating wile it had to wait again
Around 630 pm with my whole family of 5. My husband ordered the Chicken Fajitas and I got the Enchilada plate. My kids ordered nachos and chicken fingers. It was very busy when we arrived and stayed that way the whole time we ate. The food took a little longer than usual but everything came out fresh and hot. The server was always there for us and brought the drinks out quick. We have been coming here for sometime now and have noticed that your manager is very attentive. She was checking all the tables and helping the staff. She came by and asked about our food and service. She made us feel very welcomed. My husband and I were very impressed with her and the staff and hope you keep this type of service on every visit we make, as we do plan on coming back soon. Thank you and great work.
I took my girls to lunch today and Sammy was our waiter. He offered the BEST service I have had in years! My cup was never empty and we wanted for nothing and he even had an awesome family friendly joke that made my teenager laugh. My daughter commented as we were walking out to the car that lunch today was fun and that she wished wait staff at other places were that fun too. I’ll be back and Sammy will be my waiter as long as he is there.
The other day I came in for lunch and right away walking in was awful. The hostess was extremely rude to me. She sat me at a table at the back of the restaurant. She didnt even give me a smile or any words, she just threw menus at the table and left. I ordered queso and it came to me cold, the food was awful, and I felt like if I went to Taco Bell it would have been cheaper and tasted way better. When I was being treated poorly I talked to someone who was in charge and she did not even care. She brushed it off like the behavior was normal and was not concerned about anything all. Youre better off with eating somewhere else than this place.
I took a client out to eat here recently, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. The music didnt distract from our conversation at all, and Marcie was phenomenal! Cant say enough good about this location, shout out to Zoey for her attention without being persistent, will be coming back soon!
I have come here many times and I wanna say that the food is amazing. The chips and salsa is always a must here and sometimes we get the the chile con queso which is also amazing. Their curbside pick up system is the best. The staff is super nice which is always a plus. The managers Zoey and Mina are super polite. 10/10 would recommend.
We had lunch there and tried some new specials. They were very good. Fresh ingredients and arrived to the table quickly and steaming hot. I was disappointed when we ran out of chips and were never able to get a refill. Overall, a good place to eat traditional Mexican food.
First time eating at this location. Service was not great. Waited for 15+ minutes after being seated for a server and that was after I stopped someone to ask them for a little assistance in locating them. The server had difficulty taking our orders and did not seem knowledgeable regarding the food and accompanying choices. Our food came out pretty quick and it was piping hot. Just how I like it. It was good Mexican food and certainly a highlight of the outing. Too bad our server wasn’t as on point. All in all, we might come back, but I don’t like Mexican food that much.
Excellent food and service , the waiter/s are always on time and they are very attentive. The food tastes great and amazing !! Both of the managers are also very attentive . This is a place I would like to come back every day . Thank you Elida,Mina, and Yareli . Thank you for making of “El Fénix” the best place to eat .
The food was very good and it came out hot and fresh! The restaurant was very clean. All the Covid procedures were followed and everyone was 6ft apart & the waiters were very nice and had their masks on i will definitely be back to this location for lunch and dinner.
My husband went to El Fenix in Burleson yesterday and it was a very pleasant experience from the time I arrived and was greeted by Mena, Until the time we left. I order the Carne Asada and it was perfectly cooked exactly like I asked and well presented. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas And he was very pleased with his meal as well. The chips were hot and fresh and never ending, our waitress was very, very sweet and attentive and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Five stars ⭐️ will be returning!
I was having a horrible day at work and stopped at el fénix in burleson to pick up food for the family. I didn’t see many dinner combinations for puffy tacos on the menu so I decided to call in my order. Mina answered the phone (and I understood her perfectly because she didn’t rush me on the phone like some places do) and recommended a delicious plate and then added the puffy taco on the side. She was so accommodating and nice. The whole experience coupled with the delicious food made my day so much better!
I dont know why everyone likes particular place. I come because I love the food but the waitress and serves are no good. We have to wait about 10 15 min to be served drinks or asked if we have been helped. Meals always wrong... wrong orders out. Not a happy person I tip good when I am treated good. But this place here in burleson needs better service, and customer service.
Before Covid I hadnt had a bad experience. Tonight we went to eat for the first time since covid. We come in and the girl tells us to wait because she has to get a table together. There are 5 of us 2 adults 3 kids and points is in the direction of the bench, meanwhile 3 seperate parties come in and are seated immediately. You can see every other table is not available to maintain social distancing however we are seated directly next to a couple whom is obviously not feeling well and coughing. I work in the health care field so no biggie just makes no sense when a booth wouldve been just fine.I asked for a kids menu and was told they didnt have one however I got home and checked and they do. Forced to order my 6 year old an adult sized plate 90% f the food went to waste. My tacos were gross I paid 11.00 for 7 pieces of shrimp, rice was cold and not very tasty. When I asked for the check I saw I was charged for steak fajita add on but didnt order anything fajita related in didnt mention it because it took 20 minutes to get drinks 40 for food 10 for a dude if sour cream and 10 for the reciept I had to be at work in an hour. .75.00 later came home and at a sandwich which was tastier than the meal. Very disappointed.
We went to this place for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was very clean and super cute. The service was excellent...that is where my positivity ends. The food was terrible! We were a party of 7 and not one of us loved our food. I am not a complainer..this is actually the first review I have ever left for a restaurant. I ordered the lunch fajitas. The chicken was undercooked but the skillet was so hot I literally finished cooking the chicken on my plate. My daughter ordered the Grande Nachos and she had maybe 8 chips with a few beans...yes single beans...and a pound of greasy cheddar. It looked like something a 10 year old would make in the microwave. We ordered cheese dip and it was movie theatre grade cheese. Totally gross! My son sent his meal back after a few bites and lost his appetite entirely.I decided to leave a review in hope that the establishment will see it and spend more time training the kitchen staff. This place has a lot of potential. It’s so cute and the wait staff is amazing. I really hope it turns around. It’s less than a mile from my house and Mexican is my favorite!
I took my wife and mother-in-law into the El Fenix in Burleson yesterday for dinner. We were happy to see them re-open during the current pandemic. The staff was excellent and the meal was Better Than Expected!!Please support our local restaurants during this holiday season. As their name implies rising from the ashes to live again this family restaurant continues to improve with each generation!
Horrible experience i had the chicken enchiladas and got food poisoning, i only ate 1 of the 2 enchiladas and immediately went to the bathroom to throw it up on the way home i had to stop 2 times to go t o the bathroom because i got diarrhea and had it now for 36 hours.. Absolutely a nasty nasty and i mean disgusting place and it was my first time going there. Wish i could give this place 0
We have become a pretty active party at El Fenix in the neighborhood and have met a lot of very nice people there. Met a really nice gentleman tonight and he invited us to sit with him as his group was a no show and we enjoyed his company. Come to find out I worked with his grandmother at Bell HELICOPTER back in 1968. Really enjoyed the visit. Plan to go back soon. 🥳
Ok was hard choice between 3&4 .... because there salsa is SO AMAZING , I went there just to get salsa before I found it for sale in grocery store. Ive only eaten there twice, butt im not very impressed~ I mean they put rice and beans in there chimichangas(fillers!) its a shame, never seen that done before in 30 yrs of mexican resturants & thats my go to dish!
Fantastic food. Great service. Friendly staff. I have been here probably close to 30 times and have never had a bad experience. The food is well priced and delicious. Lots of chips and salsa and not a long wait time. If you love Mexican food, this is one of the best restaurants!
First visit to El Fenix. We had a wonderful young waiter named Hunter! He was helpful, patient, and attentive. The salsa was delicious and the chips were warm...and there was plenty for all of us!The Chile Relleno was the best weve had in a long time. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back, again!
Great experience from beginning to end! Hostess asked how our day was. Waiter (Alvaro A.) immediately asked for our drink order WITH a smile. He even fulfilled my special request. Food came out quickly but very fresh! Manager came by our table during our meal to ask if everything was ok. Everyone was very nice and the food was really good. Had the Chicken Hatch enchiladas dinner. Definitely will be back again.
I had a great time at this location. My server was Melissa. She is the best server ever, Melissa was kinda busy this night, but we never knew it. While waiting on our food, she kept us occupied and she made us laugh. We didnt even notice if there was a wait time. I my self got very tired just watching her work. I will be back.Back on 12~16, not such a good experience. It was so hot in there the male servers were dripping sweat on the plates that they were passing out. And new management, so unprofessional, you have all servers in uniforms (ugly uniforms) and than you have management in sweat pants. She has the place running around acting like they dont know what there doing. The old manager had kinks all worked out and now they look like chickens without a head. But if it hadnt been for Melissa I would have to give you two thumbs down. But she is such a good server and so happy she makes up for all the other down falls. This store has gone down hill in just a matter of a few months. Thats sad I use to really enjoy the place. Sorry Melissa I dont think I will be back.
I gave them a great review two years ago, last night was the worst experience I have had at an El Fienix resturant in years ! Waiter got mad when I asked for a towel when he spilled hot sauce on our table. The beans I think were poured from the water faucet they were soooo bland and sooo watery..New meaning to terrible service. Never again at thus store !
My boyfriend, Justin, and I just left the restaurant and experience WONDERFUL service from Cheyanne! She did such a great job and had such a wonderful personality! It was refreshing to have a server who was upbeat. Also, so helpful with aby questions we had! Thank you Cheyanne and El Fenix!!
Definitely one of the worst Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. Hostess walked over very slow and did not look at all happy to be there. Didn’t even say a word to us. The server got all but one of our orders wrong and the service was slow when it wasn’t even busy. When we got our food it was either undercooked or cold. When we asked if they could please fix it, the server gave a major attitude. We asked for the manager and when she got there she didn’t seem to care at all. We didn’t ask for our meal to be comped we just wanted it done correctly. Probably the worst management in the food industry.I will definitely not be going back to this restaurant and will advise against anyone else going there.
I was talked into going. Service was impatient. Cheese was a nacho sauce which was super thin and runny. The whole dinner was made from cheapest ingredients. Happy hour margaritas were tasty (from a kit) but had no indication of tequila in them.Sorry El Fenix. If you want a better review, look within.
My family and I will not return. The Male manager a couple months back was so kind and actually cared about your opinion. Today the lady manager is cold, very rude and basically argued about my ticket being wrong. My server was having a hard time with the menu, she asked why I didnt point it out to him that he made a mistake after I realized it. I didnt want him to feel bad, like his manager made me feel.
Food was ok... Waitress was useless... not a good experience. Was charged double for the Kids eat free meals after waiting for 40 minutes for the check to come.... after waiting for table settings for 20 minutes after the food came. The more I think about this, the more I realize Im going to change my score down from a 3 to a 2.
Excellent, off the charts awesome waitress. She was so incredibly fast, friendly, precise. Patient with kids. The chips were the best and salsa and rice were fantastic. However, the beans were bland. The taco salad was HUGE but great. The nachos were good but not the best. I just wish they offered sopapillas. The service was so great I gave them 4 stars although the food actually was more of a 3 star. Location very close to relatives so Ill be back when Im in town next, a few times a year. Classic tex-mex, not authentic but just right for the general public.
Bad managementBad serviceUndercooked meatI want to start off by saying that this is the first time I have ever reviewed a restaurant but I feel like I need to share my experience here so that others know what to expect... The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely awful, my family and I were there for a full 30 min before being greeted at our table. We only got our drinks refilled once and we had to track our waitress down and ask her ourselves. When our food finally came out, the manager walked up and asked us how our meal was, and I brought to his attention that the beef in my meal was all undercooked and raw. (This is the best part) that is when the manager proceeded to tell me that everything is cooked to temp and that I obviously dont know what cooked meat looks like. I refused to eat it and the manager did not even offer a refund.Ive been to this restaurant several times and I honestly have never been satisfied by the service but this was the last straw. I will NEVER be going back. And whoever decides to eat there, please check the quality of your food and eat at your own risk.
I ordered the Fenix plate that had a little bit of everything on it. It was good but wasnt memorable. The price of two adults and two children eating there was more memorable than the actual food, think it came out just under $50. Our waitress was a real sweetheart and the wait wasnt too bad. Id probably eat there again in the future.
Servers are slow and inattentive. When the server asked me about my food, (the only check up of my lunch was also to drop off my ticket) I said that I didnt really like it. She just answered with Okay. and left without saying anything else. The food is also disappointingly bland. I gave them two chances, just in case it was an off day, and was met with the same result.
This may be the worst Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to. The service was terrible, the food took forever to arrive, and the waiter was rude. Hunter is possibly the worst waiter I have ever seen. He forgot my request for extra extra sour cream on my tostada, barely ever came by for refills, and to top it all off he forgot to remove the onions on my wifes enchiladas. She is terribly allergic to onion, and I had to drive her to the ER immediately after our meal. She passed away later that evening in my arms. She left behind 3 beautiful children, who will unfortunately grow up without their beloved mother. Despite all of this, the food tasted excellent and I would recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic Tex-Mex experience.
Stopped in for lunch on our way back to Waco from Fort Worth. We had eaten here 4 months prior and enjoyed it then and were expecting the same great food, but alas, we were surprised. Our first bowl of chips were bits and pieces and so we had to wait for another. The enchiladas were dry and the sauce was so thick it stayed in place on the enchiladas. The rice was bland. Very disappointed. On our next trip I think well try the Mexican Inn Cafe...
Do yourself a favor n go to Taco Cabana. Stopped here on the way back home. The best thing about the restaurant? The chips. The salsa is sweet n taste is closer to that of ketchup...queso is watered down and lacked flavor. The rice was hard and dry, refried beans were flavorless. Waiter said they had new kitchen staff n took half my meal back but didnt offer a solution or discount on my meal. Found out later he charged extra for bringing me charro beans and corn tortillas but he never asked what kind of beans or tortillas i wanted. Again, drive the extra 2 minutes and get something with more flavor and save some money. I wish i had read the reviews before we threw our money into this place.
Not impressed. Wrestled my way in the front door with my moms wheelchair while two young hostesses watched us. No move to help with the door, then we find out one was our waitress. The food was so-so, not very unique or interesting. Not much flavor, the hot sauce could have been out of a jar.
Last 2 times we visited something was wrong. First time they ran out of rice in the middle of the day?! How does a Mexican restaurant run out of rice? They offered me a substitute item that never showed up..last night they could get the drinks right. They do still have really good hot sauce & guac.
I give a rating of 0 stars for this restaurant and will never eat there again. Our familys entire experience was a nightmare. First, my son had an eight inch hair in his nachos, but they comped the meal. I ordered a margarita with a hornitos shooter/shot. When they brought the bill to us there was a charge for my sons nachos and a charge for $9.95 for the shot that was suppose to be $3.00. When I brought it to the attention of the manager he lied and said the shot prices were not even on the menu and did not correct the problem. Both the waiter and manager did not bring me a menu when requested. I got a menu from a waitress and requested the manager again. After showing him the prices on the menu and telling him that was not what I ordered he adjusted the price of the floater/shot to $3.00. I feel that this El Fenix is not honest in dealing with their customers. We have not had problems at other El Fenixes.
My family and I have been following Zuleyma Marroquin no matter what el fenix she ends up at. I recently drove 1hr and drove past several el fenixs just to get her awesome service. Even if the service is kinda blah when she is not present when Zuleyma Marroquin is present at work the service is 5/5 stars. If I was a restaurant owner I would make her my number one person she knows how to get the job done no matter what. She’s a rockstar and I will continue to follow her for the service no matter where she goes.
Visiting Dallas, I’ve seen these restaurants, but never ate at one mostly because they’re all rated three point something stars. My curiosity got the better of me as I thought, “ If these restaurants are everywhere, how can they only be three stars‽”But I will tell you, everything they do is truly three stars — not great, but not awful.Chips 3*Salsa 3*Presentation 3*Taste 3*Portion Size 3*Cleanliness 3*Value 3*So, if you ever want to experience a true 3* restaurant, then I highly recommend this place.***edit: the parking lot is beautiful 5*!
We waited to be served for at least 8 minutes and it wasnt even busy. Service was slow. My food was bland. My girlfriend likes the queso and sour cream and chicken enchiladas. Had to wait another 2 or 3 minutes at check out to pay the bill. Dont go on here expecting lightning fast service. Some of the food is good and some isnt. All in all service sucked and the food was ok.
The food was good, but not great the salsa was bland and the margaritas were more mix with a little tequila we ordered them frozen no salt and she brought both with salt. Even when the salt was wiped off, it was still mix sour and didnt even taste like it had any tequila. Will likely not return wasnt worth the calories or price.
Where we were seated you could see into the kitchen area. There was a large area of water on the floor and under a work table. Enough water to where it could be said it would get your entire shoe wet. It was definitely a severe safety hazzard to the employees. Now onto the food. I ordered the stuff chili reno. The meat inside the pepper was balled up in large chunks. I didnt like the meal at all. I finally just scraped the meat out and just ate the pepper. For the price I paid for the meal. I could have had better food from fast taco. In my opinion I gave 1 star. It shouldnt even get that. I definitely wont be going back.
The service is always terrible here! Today we were seated and no one came, until we finally flagged the host! She then began to tell us well, youre seating in an area where theres no waiter! Ok, so why would you let us sit here if you knew theres no one there? I got the manager, told him his service sucks every single time we come here! He then became our waiter! Not sure if Ill be back but at least he tried!
My fajitas were a fajita. Yes, two slices of beef, and two slices of chicken. Not pieces. Slices. Only gave 2 tortillas? Big disappointment. I was told not all of the lunch specials come with rice and beans? 5 employees by the door could not even say Thank you or bye? Total let down. We wont be returning
This place was not that great. Everything was over salted, especially the chips. The atmosphere reminded me of Don Pablos but the food was a step down. Unfortunately Don Pablos is the one closing down restaurants. The food was blah and the service was below par. Also, the bathrooms were disgusting. I dont plan on coming back as there are much better choices to spend your money on.
Been here several times always good but tonight I got the chimichanga now Ive had the burrito there before very delicious and its huge rice and beans as a side for the chimichanga a dollar more only one side then I get it its half the size of the burrito ordered with chili con carne sauce and I got cheese sauce with pico mixed into it totally dissatisfied! Wasnt even fried look like it had been laid in a bowl of grease and was just a soggy nasty mess!
First time back in a year, service and food were horrible. Couldnt get drinks refilled and the drinks were needed to wash down the amount of salt on the fajitas. Table beside us, the table behind us, and 2 other tables complained about the service as well as the food. It was never great food, but it was decent last year.

2022-03-04Best Chips and Salsa hands down. Great choice of food to choose from. Food always comes out hot and fresh and fast. Margaritas are delicious and refreshing. Draft Beer is always cold. This particular location has plenty of seating where you dont feel crowded. They also have extra rooms for private parties. Location is easy to get in and out of.Staff is friendly and considerate.

2022-03-19Hadnt been back since the dining room was overhauled - glad we tried again! Much cleaner, and the food tastes better. Update: our server was new, so we will excuse some oversights. Food is just as good, though smaller portions - which is just fine with us, as none was wasted!

2022-07-03My wife and I went when we were kids would eat here, her in Longview and me in Dallas. We saw this from the highway and had to stop. It was terrific some of the very best Mexican food I have had, plus the service was excellent. Strongly recommend this restaurant!

2022-04-14El Fenix has best food, hands down. The food is always hot, fresh and served quickly. Although I could fill up on chips and salsa! Chips have sea salt and crispy fresh, never stale. Be sure to grab a bag of chips and salsa when you leave. Im still craving them. Never had a bad meal there! Staff is friendly and well trained.

2021-05-16The service was excellent! I didnt really like the chips and salsa. The chips were salty and the salsa wasnt spicy enough for me. I didnt really like the nachos either. However, my husband loved his steak burrito, my brother loved his nachos, and my dad loved his enchiladas 😋.

2021-03-27Authentic Mexican food. From the moment we stepped in the door the staff were so nice, they welcomed us, paid us complements and Guided us to our table. The waiter was really nice and attentive. The manager came along to see how everything was going, I mean perfect service just look at their comment section they take the time to reply to everyone. All the guest in the other tables looked like they were enjoying themselves. The walls were filled with old pictures of the owners, very moving. The food is delicious, we had a platter with a mix of different entrees and the sizzling fajitas. The pina colada is really strong and good.I loved everything and I will definitely will go back.

2022-02-17The food and service was excellent. Thinking maybe the hostess had somewhere else to be because as we arrived 45 minutes until closing, she seemed reluctant to seat us.. which would be more understandable if it were 15 minutes or less until closing.. but Ive worked in her industry.. and definitely understand.. some days are longer than others..Our waiter was excellent... Wish I could remember his name., But it was my birthday.. Im getting older and they say the memory is the first to go.. or was it hearing is the first to go.? 🙄

2022-04-01My wife and I had dinner there tonight. Saw signs of hiring. The staff were very helpful. The bartender had to be our server. The plate was very hot but the food was terrible. Rice was dry and old, beans were dry and not good. My cheese enchilada tasted like it was made earlier and reheated. Seems lack of staff causing drop in quality. When food is brought out 5 minutes after ordering means it was pre-made. Not sure we will eat there again.

2022-03-21The one on camp bowie much better. Better food better service. There was very little chili sauce or cheese sauce on our enchiladas. Hard and dry taco shell. I will stick to the one on camp bowie. Its worth the extra drive

2022-07-18We drive in from Waco just to visit this restaurant every now and then. Its clean, the staff is always friendly, the food is excellent, and they have been family owned since 1916. Great job, guys! Well see you next time.
