It was the last week of July 2018 and I called Alma Valadez about an independent study in Art that Dean Eveler had approved and had directed Alma to take care of it. The approval had been given the last week of classes of the spring semester. So Alma had had at least two months to follow the deans instructions. So I called in July and she started to argue with me because it was not her job to request an independent study. When I reminded her that the dean had instructed her in detail on what to do, she hung up the phone on me. I called back and told her that if she hung up again on me, I would report her. She did not apologize for having hung up. I was calling on behalf of my son who has special needs. Needless to say, the argument continued. She wanted me to do the leg work for her and I said that was not my responsibility. I was speaking for my son. I have power if attorney. She said that the power of attorney is not valid at EPCC although they know very well why I always go with my son to the counseling sessions. EPCC is always looking to grow the number of students and struggle to keep them from dropping out. With such unprofessional personnel, it is no wonder the drop-out rate is so high, especially in the students with special needs group. It is a year later. My son did not go back to EPCC and never will. He now has his own art studio. He is surrounded by good people who are considerate and who share the same interests. They treat him as their equal. This is something he never experienced at EPCC Transmountain. If Alma Valadez is still working there, it is a disservice to the students who need more help. She may have a degree but her dealings with the public leave a lot to desire. She is the reason my son stopped attending EPCC. If she treated me like that, I can only imagine how students with disabilities are treated. Shameful! She gets paid to help them, not to hang up on parents who are inquiring about their children with disabilities. The worst part--board members, administration, and other staff turn a blind eye to this behavior. And they call themselves educators and leaders of the students. Thanks but no thanks. My son now leads a very satisfying life without all the mistreatment and neglect he suffered at the hands of a so-called counselor. Parents--beware!!!
I havent started classes yet and Im a first time student. Therefore youd think there would be a little more guidance as to what you do and dont have to do but I have to dig to figure out what steps I needed to take. Then when I got everything sorted out, everyone was acting confused about a hold on my account for something I already showed them I had and Im about to miss deadline for registration FOR MY FIRST COURSE IN COLLEGE and literally nobody will answer their phones and when they do they keep telling me to wait even though I physically watched them put in my record everything I needed to get rid of my hold. I was really excited to start but if Im having that many problems already Im worried about whats its going to be like going here .
DO NOT TAKE DR. DUNN FOR PHARMACOLOGY. She is awful!! She doesnt teach you anything, expects you to be clairvoyant & calls it critical thinking! No, its just cause she too dang lazy & is on too many prescription meds to tell you.Definitely look at rate my professor before choosing a class.I will say if you have to take any biologys take Dr. Chianelli & DONT judge a book by its cover! She is AMAZING!
Best place to start and best place to finish your two years of education for the fraction of the cost that UTEP will charge. They have a subway inside the building which is good. Cons: Can be understaffed in certain departments such as mathematics or biology and anatomy physiology. Parking may not be the best. Prices for textbooks have incrementally increased over the years I wish they werent so expensive...
I havent even started classes here and I already hate this campus, Everyone is rude , from the registration department to the consulers office, One the consuler gave me the wrong codes for the classes I need to take even after I told him I need help he gave me a worksheet explaining the steps to register, which is fine but then gives me the wrong info. Thinking of transferring to a different campus...

2022-07-08Admissions give misinformation and are extremely unfriendly. One lady said I needed an unofficial document, double checked, she repeated after me, second lady said it needed to be official. The lady before that sent me to counselor. She said stay on the right. Actually it was around the window. These ladies need to be more helpful. Can identify every single one! Then technology would not help with technical issues. Ugh!! Do you qNt peoples registering or not?

2022-01-21The computer lab people were Awesome! They were patience, and tried calming me down. When I looked overwhelmed, or freaking out (which is almost never). Much much Thanks to David and Lupe.

2021-09-02The elderly woman in the financial aid office and the other elderly woman in admission office is so rude and helpless. instead of trying to help you and explain how certain stuff work, they just give you attitude and expect you to know what to do.

2018-11-07Office staff needs SERIOUS work. Financial aid office and admissions office never answer the phone. Their policy for ONLY taking transcripts through the mail is absolutely ridiculous. ITS 2018! Most other schools accept transcripts by fax or have other options. They give you the run around just to try to squeeze extra money out of your pocket with late fees (that they caused) or have you register for the wrong classes that you have to drop later (another fee) all so they can get more money. My social security number mysteriously was switched around causing me to be unable to receive financial aid until EXACTLY a day after itd be considered late (convenient right?) so they tried to convince me to take an emergency loan for a small, wait for it... FEE. This school needs a very serious update. Ive traveled to many states and attended other community colleges and this one was hands down THE WORST. The teachers were the only positive thing about the school but you have to go through hell just to get to that point. VERY dissatisfied. Get it together El Paso.

2019-05-21This school is a joke, they do not work with you, they seem to just want your money. Degrees they offer are limited and resident pricing is lower than compared to UTEP but still pretty high in comparison to other Universities. I would suggest saving up and going to a better school for your education.

2016-08-27I do not have any experience with any other campus, but the Northwest Campus staff are quite friendly, helpful, and efficient. I enjoy every class and find the professors supporting and understanding. It is definitely a great place to start.

2019-04-22For those new students. All of EPCC kind of sucks when it comes to getting enrolled, but if you are trying to continue your education, I would suggest getting everything done at Valle Verde campus, while taking courses at the campus near you. TM is the nearest to my house and the professors dont reflect the other staff. Be sure to do your own research and what not, because there is a good chance you will be going in circles trying to get stuff done (happened to me both semesters I went here), but VV beats the staff at TM. TM has quite possibly the worst counselors in existence...Im not joking either, they are literally the bottom of the barrel garbage. It kind of ticks me off because Im sure there are many qualified individuals dying for a position like theirs, but instead TM continues to keep counselors who dont even want to counsel and just sit and get mouthy with the students who inquire for help.

2018-09-14The counselors are horrible. I get it they deal with BS but thats their job. They are not helpful and they even argue with the students. It was so hard to drop just one class. The older counselor said I was undecided without even knowing what I was talking about!!! So rude... Transmountain campus is not the best when it comes to their counselors.
