Went a few weeks ago for a corporate event. I had not considered going before and decided to give it a try. It definitely surpassed my expectations. My family had a great time! The place is well kept and organized. They seem to be expanding and renovating different areas and adding more shows for the visitors to enjoy.
We love the zoo. Our family membership (very reasonable price) allows us to go whenever we feel like for an hour or three. The new carousel is a wonderful addition. You cant compare it to more epic zoos such as San Diego or the National Zoo in DC, but its inexpensive and you can see it all in one trip. For our toddler its the perfect size.I also love that its pro-conservation, and the animals welfare trumps the convenience of the viewers.
The Zoo Society is a non-profit organization. A charitable organization whose mission is to help the City of El Paso in expanding, upgrading and promoting the El Paso Zoo. The Societys vision is to be the catalyst for the El Paso Zoo to provide a premier wildlife and natural habitat experience for residents of and visitors.****

2021-08-17We went with the family and purchases an annual membership. It is really nice because you dont have to wait in line and you can go in through a side door. The membership also allows us to get discounts and passes to other zoos throughout the United States. Its been a couple years since we have been there, but we really love the upgrades they have done including the huge rocks with water coming out, the huge dog, and general reconstruction of enclosures. It gives it a tropical mystical look. We had a great time and about 90% of the visitors there wear masks. We had a great time!

2022-04-18MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELYThe manager is unprofessional and does not care for the customers I also question the care for the animals as to the look of the zoo. The indoor facility with birds, etc was the absolute worst pungent smell you could imagine. It seemes unsafe and unhealthy. I had covered my nose and ran out it was unbearable.I love the zoo and have been to many others. This place is a bad excuse for a zoo.I payed entry fee to this zoo to visit for one and a half hours. With approximately 20 minutes left in my hour and half i noticed the giraffes , elephants, monkeys , mere cats, pigs, and hyenas were missing.I saw zero animals other than a coy fish , lion, wolf and small deer. Nearly every exhibit was empty. I was upset about this because the sole reason people come to a zoo is to see animals.I requested my money to be returned or give me a credit. The management made a lousy excuse and essentially said it was my fault since they take the animals in one hour before close. I cant quite make sense of any of this other than this is a sorry excuse for a so-called zoo and management is not doing their job. They have in tiny writing on the reciept that some animals comeThey have in tiny writing on the reciept that some animals come off of exhibit a hour prior. I was told upon entering the zoo close in one and half hour , thats it.I said sure , i have hour and half to see animals. That was not the caseThe zoo does not appear to be well cared for often i see garbage in the animals cage as I have visited the zoo in the past.

2018-11-30What a joy! Early morning visit allowed us to interact with the trainers at feeding time. Favorite was being able to look into the awesome eyes of Norman (6 yr old male lion) as he sat a few feet away - watching his trainer cleaning the exhibition windows...

2021-05-23The El Paso Zoo is always a go to spot. It has had significant upgrades and more on the way. A Penguin exhibit will start construction soon. Facial covering, Social Distancing and Hand Sanitizer is still highly recommended. Enjoy!!!

2021-03-15I think once the Covid is contained & every part of the Zoo opens back up; it will be a lot better. Cant wait til they get the train running again. Some of us Grandmas need to sit sometimes to catch our breath; while the Kiddos get the excitement of riding a train.
