So thankful they were open when no one else was! Memorial Day weekend I called 4-5 other places who all either didn’t have appointments or were closed unless you were already an established patient. Staff was friendly and understanding. I personally thought the price was decent, $100 standard rate plus $40 for an IV & antibiotic. Thankfully my fur baby was said to be fine and hopefully the diagnosis was accurate 🙏

2 weeks ago, 1 of our aging dogs became very ill and we knew his time was just about up. We called the Emergency Vet Clinic and they said to bring him in, but not to even get him out of the car so he doesnt get stressed or put through any unnecessary pain and call when we got there. We called when we arrived and one tech came out, took all his information and had us pull around back. Two techs meet us and prepped him. A couple minutes later the Vet came out and administered the shots and within seconds our poor friend was at peace. They gave our entire family all the time we needed to say goodbye to our sweet boy in private. All the members of The Emergency Vet Clinic team were professional at all times and very gentle and comforting with our loved one. They made his last moments very calm and peaceful. They also sent our family a Sympathy Card signed by the entire Staff. That was awesome, very kind and comforting!

We recently had to say goodbye to one of our babies. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve had to put an animal down. It’s the hardest, and most devastating thing I’ve ever had to do. The Emergency Veterinary Clinic was there for us. They were so nice, and genuinely cared what we were going through. They sent us this really nice card with his paw prints. It made us so happy when we opened the card, and saw his paw prints. Thank you so much for being there for us. We greatly appreciate you!

We have been there twice with our two canine children. The staff were very courteous and compassionate. They came to us with the estimate and advised us how much it would cost before providing services. The veterinarians were knowledgeable and helpful and explained everything. The cost was half what we expected and nowhere near what we would have paid for the excellent services.

Took my dogs here after they were bitten by a rattlesnake. Everyone here was amazing. Very professional yet compassionate, efficient and very hard working. They took great care of my dogs and both recovered just fine.

Our sweet pup Bo got bit by a rattlesnake on his nose (2nd time in 2 years). The staff was AMAZING and could not have been more caring. Bo got the necessary shots and we came home with additional painkillers and antibiotics for the coming days. We REALLY appreciate having a 24-hr emergency vet service in Abilene 😊

We spent a ton of money taking our cat here because our regular vet couldnt fit her in until the following day and recommended she be seen sooner if the problem suddenly worsened. He didnt run a single test, just squeezed her bladder, painfully and decided it was a UTI. She suffered all night when a simple sonogram wouldve shown that it was serious inflammation from a disorder that is easily treated. We got charged almost $200 for no compassion and ZERO care.

They were fantastic. We had to put our puppy down. They were caring and compassionate. They even put the puppies paw print on the box. Wonderful people!

They were amazing with my dog. Will definitely recommend! The vet was very straightforward on pricing and was not trying to upsell me, he only did what was necessary to get my dog toto feeling better!

Edit: Bumping up review to 3 stars. This place can be good when the right people are on staff. The vet that saw Sam a couple years ago was horrible but we recently had to take our other dog Bandit in and the experience was so much better. The staff seemed to care about him and loved on him while we were there. I think the lesson for any pet owner at any vet is this: follow your gut when it comes to your pet. If you think the vet should do more for your furry friend, speak up about it.---We took our dog Samson in after he began vomiting and acting lethargic. It was Saturday so this clinic was the only option available at the time. The receptionist was kind and got us into a room quickly. They took him into the back to take blood and do an x-ray at which point they found an object in his stomach that was very apparent on the x-ray. We were also told he had a bacterial infection. His blood work showed he had pancreatitis. The vet told us that the object was not important and we were given antibiotics and anti-nausea meds and sent on our way.Sam didnt improve, in fact he became worse and by Monday we took him to Abilene Vet Clinic where they did blood work and found he was in kidney failure. The tech and the vet were both shocked that the object in his stomach wasnt taken care of when it was found and that he wasnt admitted for the pancreatitis. Sam was admitted immediately and they began flushing his kidneys so that he would be strong enough for surgery to remove the object. On Wednesday, the surgery took 3 hours after it was found that not only did he have the object in his stomach, but also gauze and cloth that he must have pulled from our trash. He had 9 holes in his bowels that had leaked into his stomach and kidneys and had caused him to become sick. He made it through the surgery but unfortunately due to the toxicity levels in his body, he passed away about an hour after surgery. The vet at Abilene Vet said that while it still would have been critical if the surgery was done immediately on Saturday, he would have had a better chance at survival. Dont trust them to make the best decisions for your furry family member. It is a shame that they are the only emergency vet available in Abilene.
