My poor, loving boy Archer was diagnosed in the final stages of lymphoma on the 2nd of May at the age of 6. With treatments we were hoping to get months but instead on the 25th his health took a turn for the worse. It was after ten at night and we took him here to see if there was anything we could do knowing there was sadly only the difficult decision. Everyone here was so kind and patient as they helped us and gave him so much affection as well. Days later I just received a letter in the mail of condolences with his pawprints inside and I wept. That is above and beyond and it means so much to me I cannot even explain. All I can say is my thanks and how much that means to me.
The receptionist was really rude. We came in with a dog we found and wanted to see if dog was chipped. As soon as we got in she barely looked at us and continued to just stare at her computer. Then she came around the desk and informed us that next time we should call. Well of course we didn’t know that. She was rude and unprofessional the entire time. She checked and said “nope” and walked away. Terrible service!
Took my miniature Dachshund in for sudden vomiting, breathing issues then seemingly comatose. They told me they thought she had eaten a bee and was allergic to bee stings. Immediately they treated her for anaphylaxis. If it wasn’t for their knowledge and helping hand, Gidget would not be with us today. They were extremely professional and kept me informed of everything they had to do and the cost.
Was out of town for Christmas and my furr baby was in dire need of care. Beautiful and clean facility filled with friendly, professional and kind staff!! This is a very busy place but the Vet Tech & Veterinarian made you feel like your dog was the only one there. Highly recommend this beautiful gem 🤗❤!!!
When we had to put our sweet dog down over the weekend, we didnt know where to turn. We called the Emergency Veterinary Clinic and they answered all our questions before we brought in our dog, Paco. The entire staff at the clinic were very compassionate and understanding. They gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes and allowed us to be with our Paco until the very end. When we went back to pick up his ashes, we were very touched by the love and care they gave our beloved friend.
In April this year while traveling to our West TX property, our 14 year old lab walked in to a large bed of hot coals from a fire the night before. We feel this bed of coals had something thrown onto it that might have smelled like food. Our dog not only burned her front pads off but the skin on her elbows, toe nails, her muzzle, lips, tongue, roof of her mouth, gums and ears. We were a couple of hours from this vet clinic and although they are insanely busy, they got her in quickly. They were going to release her once the immediate care was done but due to our location and lack of means to care for her wounds in a sterile environment, I asked them to keep her overnight. I picked her back up Sunday before they closed and they helped make arrangement to the animal hospital in Arlington. So I rushed her there for another stay. During my dogs recovery and finally being able to take her to her regular vet, I provided the work up performed at Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Abilene. Our vet remarked that I could not have gotten better care, if I had taken her directly to A&M. They impressed my vet with the care and medications provided to keep her alive. I will be forever grateful to this clinic and their staff. It was a grueling 8 weeks of daily care at home for her recovery but she made it. I am relieved to know this clinic is there to take care of our pets when other clinics are closed. God bless your team and thank you for saving my fire dog!
My family and I made the difficult decision to have our family dog Sophie, a 16 year old Yorkie, humanly euthanized and the staff (receptionist, techs, and the physician) was incredibly understanding and accommodating to our situation. They let us have time with our girl and let us stay with her during her final moments. Words will never be able to show our gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown to us during this heartbreaking time. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
This is a wonderful place. Cost a lot, but staff and Doctor were excellent. My dog could hardly stand and within an hour she was better. Almost 13, so I so appreciate their time and effort. 8 hours later and she is almost back to normal. They checked her over better than my regular vets have in a while and seemed to have diagnosed and corrected her problems perfectly
Every single staff member was kind and compassionate. My husband and I had to put our dying cat to sleep and we are so thankful we did it at this facility. The entire process was explained and we were never rushed as we said our goodbyes. Thank you all for how you treated our girl with such dignity. I highly recommend this place and I am thankful they are available on the weekends.
I live in Brownwood and we dont have an emergency vet on weekends or after hours, so I made the drive up after my fur baby passed away and these lovely people were just as sweet and kind to me as they could possibly be. Shasta was cremated and when her ashes came back I got a call letting me know and when I picked up her ashes once again all the staff was just as nice and sweet, just kind to me. Very quick and professional. Really just appreciated how the staff treated me.
We had to rush our family dog up there Sunday January 31, 2021 to have his eye looked at and get him fixed up. They were VERY thorough with us and kept us up to date on how his surgery was going. Im VERY grateful for them being opened on a Sunday. The front desk lady, vet tech and vet were all super nice to my husband and I while dealing with this unexpected tragedy with our precious Dusty. We didnt have the $533 to get him fixed up but thanks to the vet tech she told us about scratch pay and were able to get the surgery he needed.
They are very nice, professional, polite, and mostly the tech explained all our questions and answered all questions about our new pups.Very good emergency clinic. This is our 2nd time there. We had another chihuahua with heart problems and they helped tremendously with her, although later date we had to let her goOVER DOGGY RAINBOW ♡♡☆☆Will continue to use them for emergency purposes. And definitely Recommend.
Compassionate, quick and knowledgeable docs and techs. Reasonable prices also, especially because pets like kids, never get sick or hurt during normal office hours. Visited several times with different animals...dog and cats. Have no hesitation of using their services if the need arises. Thank you for being there!
These were so compassionate at my saddest moment in time. Our little dog was so sick, he had been put in the hospital for a week by my sister in Dallas while we were on vacation. When we returned on Saturday she had picked up a half dead dog. We were so upset. On Sunday he took a turn for the absolute worse. My vet was out of town so we called Emergency Vet and they were there to help us.They let me stay with him after he passed and let me grieve. Thank you for your kindness and compassion and the sweet card I received today.
Took my cat in tonight. Wasnt able to be seen because another animal needed emergency surgery. Which I totally understand. But I think other vets should be on call during these type of situations. My options were, stay for hours or go home. My main complaint is the receptionist Angela. Rude. Unprofessional. Acts like she hates her job. Zero people skills. And needs to watch her tone and attitude with clients. Angela was HORRIBLE.
My dog ate something she wasn’t supposed to and vet didn’t do a full examination before saying she was completely fine. Just discovered my dog also has an ear infection that wasn’t noticed by vet. This place has a flea infestation. I was charged $100 for them to check my dogs vitals and she ended up with fleas. Never coming here again. The receptionist is also extremely rude and doesn’t care about customers.
Take my dog in for a bladder stone during the weekend. He has to have surgery and stay overnight. We paid over $700 UPFRONT to cover everything. Pick up on Monday for them to say I need to pay an additional $225. Dont understand why this wasnt discussed when we already paid. But, I said no Im not paying it. They kept his collar as collateral 😂. Anyways, took him to big country vet that same Monday just to pay $50 for him to stay an additional night for observation on my behalf. This place is obviously money hungry.
I didn’t get the man’s name but I called last night when a stray cat we’ve been feeding was attacked by 2 dogs. He immediately got us in and saw us but unfortunately the cat we call Gremlin passed away before we got there. The man was very compassionate and gave us a minute to say our goodbyes. I’m very thankful that we were able to find such an amazing vet clinic with an amazing staff. Thank y’all for making a traumatizing night a little better.
Such a great facility with amazing staff who genuinely care so much for the communities animals. Weve had to bring our animals in on a few emergency occasions and weve been met with speedy attention, kind words, and excellent care for our fur family. They are very transparent on prices and offer a lot of advice on options to get your pet where they need to be in getting well. So thankful for all their help and care through the years.
They refused to euthanize a dog that has attacked me three times. They said to take her to the pound instead, which would have either landed her spending a week in a cold kennel and put down anyway or adopted by someone else for the dog to attack just like with me. One of the techs accused me of not socializing the dog, which was absolutely not the case. A hard decision was made a million times harder by these people who clearly dont understand that dogs who attack people are a danger and a liability. I tried to do the right thing and was denied that option. Full of assumptions and unwilling to listen to a pet owner. I will never even attempt to go to this place again, and I would be very hesitant to adopt from the pound knowing theyre perfectly okay adopting out dogs with known aggression issues.
Thank you for all your kindness and for your services. It was a sad and difficult day, but you were kind, caring and very sympathetic to the situation. You handled us with care and compassion. I will never forget that. Your company has my upmost respect. May God bless you all!
I am so disappointed. I spent a small fortune to have my cat saved over Thanksgiving weekend. They treated him and sent him home with medications. They specifically told me he did not need any follow up with his local vet. He suddenly died 10 days later. Local vet is pretty sure he had leukemia. While there is no treatment for that he was misdiagnosed at emergency vet clinic and to tell me no follow up was needed astounds me. They obviously didnt know what was wrong. To take my money, pump my cat full of meds, and have me not seek another opinion if they werent sure is insane. Thanks for nothing emergency vet clinic. All you did was line your pockets at my expense. We still dont have our beloved pet. :(
Very clean facilities, kind and thorough staff. They took the time to really listen and to explain, treatment for our cat. People know, yes, this may cost more than a regular vet visit, BUT, they are staffed and ready to go 24-7. This cost more money to run, this type of practice. Well worth it it our family, highly recommend.
I absolutely hate this place, but unfortunately it is the only place to take my beloved pets after hours. I have had bad experience every time. I visited this place 3 times when it was located on Ridgemar Lane and once after it is moved to Industrial Blvd. I have taken one dog and 3 cats here. One of my cats got treated and died about 2 hours after she got home. I was charged around $250, but the poor review is based on the lack of compassion and sense of urgency I have experienced everytime I have been unfortunate enough to find myself at this place.
Very overpriced. No masks, not receptionist, tech or Vet. When asked to wear one please, Vet said they dont work anyway. Then when she examined my dog and pulled the mask down under her chin. Im 76 years old with several risk conditions and I felt very uncomfortable with such rudeness. My granddaughter asked her to please wear the mask. She acted rudely put one on then proceeded to say she couldnt see and pulled it down. I will never use this facility again and if Big Country vet is the owner of this place I wont be using them either.
They took care of my dog. Minimal sympathy. We were initially told it would be 1200 to diagnose an upset stomach. After we said, no, they charged us $400. That was in line with a after hours visit, blood work and meds. How ever I was extremely upset by their lack of PPE regarding covid-19. Vet/tech no one cared about us, except presenting us with a bill.
My lil izzie is very sick with possible acute liver failure..... It was already diagnosed the day before and Ive been worried sick, incredibly professional staff, clean environment, kept us within budget. They did so so well with her! And also fully explained everything that was happening.
I highly recommend this emergency clinic. We had a wonderful experience. The people could not have been better, caring and professional. Many thanks to Amber on the phone and front desk, Dr. Creach and Vet Tech Carson. We feel blessed with the treatment and quality of care for our Duke!
Everyone here was so nice & so helpful. Specifically Cassie, who was our vet tech & Dr. Creach. They both got down on the floor to assess my large dog & were very gentle and kind with him. Fortunately, we had no big injuries & got a simple treatment and a prescription. While it did cost a bit more than a non-emergency visit the cost was reasonable. I wish Dr. Creach had a non-emergency practice! We would definitely see him regularly.
This place is EVIL and ONLY CARES ABOUT $$!!! I just left there bawling my eyes out!!!!A couple of years ago our two year old beloved Chihuahua became ill out of nowhere. After taking her to the Vet I was told she was very sick and needed transfusions. Our dog was taken to this clinic where she was given multiple transfusions...of course 500.00 per transfusion up front. We paid upfront, but sadly it didn’t work and she was put to sleep at that clinic.Fast forward two years and we now have a sweet 9 month old Shorky who found a little oxygen absorber packet (magnetic iron kind) from a beef jerky bag and chewed almost half of it. I took her to the only ER Vet Clinic open at this hour. It was this same clinic where our Chihuahua past ͏away at and the Dr. said she wouldn’t see our puppy because there was a 230.00 balance from two years ago. First of all...we had to pay every penny upfront!! Second of all...my puppy is in need of emergency treatment or she could die, but a $230.00 bogus bill kept her from being cared for. This doctor refused to care for our puppy even after I was told over the phone to bring her in so they could induce vomiting in case she was poisoned. This doctor willfully and knowingly refused treatment to save my dog over a bogus 230.00 balance!!!! What a heartless heartless thing to do!!!!!! 😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔
Dr. Clinton and the staff did a wonderful job with our Sophie. She had to have emergency surgery due to eating some plastic. It was a major surgery. My husband and I were so worried for her, but thanks to Dr. Clinton, we still have our sweet little girl and she is doing wonderful. Today we are taking her back to the Dr. so that she can get looked at and make sure everything is healing nicely. Thank you so much Dr. Clinton and staff for taking care of Sophie!!
They took care of my dog and got him the meds he needed, but was charged the after midnight fee even though we checked in before midnight. Maybe because the doctor didnt come in until after midnight but we were there at 11:50 and paid $150 for the visit instead of $99, not including medication.
I took my beloved dog here and from the moment we arrived the only thing that was discussed was the fact that they needed MORE MONEY. I was told something completely different over the phone and when I brought it to the staffs attention, was told “well, lots of people answer the phone here and apparently they didn’t know what they were talking about.” So a $100 check in quickly changed to a $400 check in, before any exam or lab tests were done. About an hour later with no information about my dog being discussed with me, the female veterinarian came and told me what she “thought his diagnosis may be” and to continue treatment, she would be needing $1000.00. I am disabled and I would have given them every penny I had if they would have given me until the first of the month. But the receptionist told me that they didn’t do that, “Because people don’t ever pay!” I had no more money to pay them and so they put my dog down. With my written consent of course... I will never forgive myself for taking my family member to these money hungry people.
The vet that was on call the evening of 7/30/18 was very back and forth with what she was saying could/would happen if we waited to perform surgery on our dog the next morning at our primary office. She kept telling me he may not make it and could possibly be die ( which I knew he was critical but he’d be okay until the morning) I used to work for a vet my self!Mind you I had 3 of my children with me 1 of which was having anxiety over the situation (9yr old) NEVER talk about that in front of the kids. What kind of person does that? EXACLTYShe would tell me people accuse them of price gouging (never came out of my mouth) and also told me if I to take him to my vet that I’ll get what I pay for. I immediately knew I did NOT want to give her my $2,000. I already paid her $600 for IV and over night care. I never even mentioned the money that wasn’t the issue, she was!Even the next morning the tech seemed put out with me because we didn’t do the surgery there. The only nice person there that I felt with was the desk clerk...p.s. my dog had swallowed a rock and is now in good hands at his vets officeUpdate: My dog is out of surgery and doing great. Didn’t have to perform the surgery that was told had to be done by emergency clinic ALSO this emergency vet told us we’d pay about the same price at our primary vet, hahaha NOT EVEN CLOSE!!$490 vs: $1957.75 they wanted....so glad I waitedI paid more for exam and IV overnight care with this clinic than I did for the entire surgery at mine. They say they don’t price gouge.🤔
My cat Frankie was hit by a car early on Saturday and our vet in Swater was out of town. But because Frankie was in pain, I decided to try this place. Im glad I did. The facility was very clean and the staff was all very kind and professional. Most of all Frankie got the attention and treatment he needed which was comforting to me.
I would definitely not recommend this place. We took my dog here after she had accident with her tail basically being ripped off. We got in there and all they were worried about was getting a quote while my dog was bleeding everywhere. They decided to cut her tail off. (Which was the right thing to do) but they sent her home without even coming fully out of the Anthestia. They didn’t even send her home with any pain meds. She was in severe pain all night. She even had tears in her eyes. My dog just got her tail cut off and they didn’t give her anything for the pain!! If you can wait to take your animals to your normal vet i definitely would.
These people care more about money than they do about your pets. Our dog was in labor with her 1st litter of puppies. It was the night before my husbands paycheck would be in bank, but she seemed to be having problems delivering the 1st puppy so we called the emergency clinic to see if we could bring her in and just write a check for the services since we wouldnt have the money till the next morning. They refused to see her without cash up front. As a result she didnt manage to get the puppy out till the next afternoon and it was dead from being in birth canal too long. That ended up being the only one she had and it probably would have lived if the emergency clinic would have seen her the night we called instead of worrying about getting their money, which they would have the next morning. Luckily our dog is okay, but she couldve died too and they didnt care.
Went in this afternoon to get some spots looked at on my dogs head, wasn’t sure if they were allergy bumps or what so that is what the initial visit was for. I walked in and as soon as they saw my dog, the nurses and front office ladies acted startled and scared, because my dog was excited, he is a very well behaved dog, obedience trained and happy and friendly. So we go to put him on the scale and I hear someone say, “He doesn’t seem unnagressive” because he was nervous. He did not bark, show any signs of aggression whatsoever. So We get him on the scale and once that is said and done, take him to the examination office and all 6 nurses follow us in there with a muzzle and say, for everyone’s safety, because he is a pit bull mix we must put a muzzle on him for the doctor to see him. I say that is fine, because Willie will deal with it happily. So the doctor walks in, me, my dog and 6 nurses in the room and ask “what is the muzzle for?” And ask them to leave. He examines my dog and decides, “He was in a fight” I tell him, no these spots were here from allergies, I think they may have just got infected. He still decided to keep insisting that my dog, who has never been outside of the yard, house, or in a vehicle. Has been in a fight. Then, in the middle of the examination he walks into the office, and We hear him and the office ladies deny someone service to their dog who is puking and having a panic attack service because they looked to be “unreliable to pay for their service.” Long story short, I was right about my dogs diagnosis, they prescribed him antibiotics for a bacterial infection on his allergies. Then as I am leaving, I sit in the office waiting for my husband to call and pay the vet bill, and I listened to them talk about how they hate treating pit bulls, and wish they could refuse it because every pit it bad. And talk about their patients humans that they denied because “The brown people need to learn to take care of their dogs.” Very unprofessional. And I would do anything in the world to make sure my pet is safe and okay, without a worry. Which is why I will never be going back to this establishment in the case of my dogs health.
Great care for my little doggie here. The cost was not as scary as I was expecting. The visit is 96 dollars but the rest was very reasonable. They took xrays and did full blood work of my little doggie. They were able to diagnose her right then and there. My little Bobbie is going to be fine now and I highly recommend them.
Either they diagnosed my dog wrong or didnt even care to tell us she was poisoned. Either way, its not okay. She died the next day, so we spent money on all these different meds we werent even able to give her. All they care about is money, the Indian woman veterinarian wasnt nice at all.
$1500 to treat a rattlesnake bite .. and they wont lift a finger until its paid in advance. Then you have to take your dog to a regular vet at 7:30 am the next day as they are not open in regular business hours. When your dog is dying you have no option after hours or on a weekend. Bottom line keep your dog in doors on holidays and weekends.
Talk about people out there on this World being animal cruelty, so are the people in the veterinaries clinics how try to get your pet looked at get help but dont have money till couple of days the most to get to give to them but them people want money up front all about money. Plus they would not let my daughter and son-in-law to stay with their French bulldog to be put down that makes me wonder if they really did that or did they save him and kept him from they stoled him there four kids that loved him so so much n how could yall take him away from them the.
The people here were so kind and courteous when my Shih Tzu had a luxating patella. We were unaware of this condition and within 3 minutes of seeing our 7yr old fur baby she was walking again and ready to go home with anti-inflammatories.I will have my vet follow up on the arthritis and patella when we get back home.Thank you so much and I am so very thankful to everybody in here care.Sincerely,Eric & Kelly Wall
Okay so I officially didnt go to this office but I called them to ask questions about some kittens I have, they transferred me and a gentleman told me something I could do and then he told me sorry have to go bye really? This is so disrespectful! All I was trying to do was get help and they hung up. I do not recommend at all.
I was quoted a $90 fee (not including any tests or medications) just to bring in a sweet stray kitten we found that had a broken leg. I can’t afford that for an animal that isn’t even mine. No other vet was open. We just wanted to help the poor thing. I was told to either call animal control (not open for 2 more days) or just “leave the kitten where it was found.” What a terrible suggestion. What kind of person leaves a poor hurt kitten where I found it...basically to die? Ugh. There needs to be a change in this community when it comes to rescuing stray hurt animals! We need more facilities and vets that are open and willing to help. Are these vets in the business to help animals or not? Money-hungry vets have no place here!
Took my dashound in she was attacked by pit . They keep her o er night when I picked her up the next morning they hadnt even sewed her up she had two holes in her the size of a quarter and multiple other. They dont care about animals they do care about the money 700 dollars for x-ray and iv never seen anything like this in my life .
These people are extremely rude! I was directed by Dyess to their number. After reluctantly telling me their business name and address, I tried calling my regular vet clinic at 6:30pm. Unfortunately for me, I was unknowingly redirected to their clinic again. I asked which clinic this was and was RUDELY hung up on. I for one dont trust a new or some of the animal clinics in this town, and neither should you. I only take my babies on base or dearing animal clinic! I guess that Ill take my baby there in the morning as this is not an emergency. You guys suck the worst! Its not difficult to identify and answer a simple question!
Took my dashound SASSY in on 9/8/2018, throwing up blood. Showed Dr what she threw up at house in a picture. Not concerned with the health of my pet, hell no, they said $802.00 UP FRONT TO DO ANYTHING. Who the hell has that kind of money laying around, I dont. So 2 days later my poor girl is suffering, still throwing up blood, because this so called emergency clinics greediness and pathetic ways WONT HELP HER.
My cat gave birth and her uterus came out and After reading so many bad reviews didnt want to go here but was no other option, And it was an absolute wonderful experience, staff was very very helpful, they even called shortly after I got home to check on things and give pointers price wasnt bad at all either, very pleased with my experience here, the receptionist was so great and unbelievably helpful
This place is all about their money I called and asked them about a puppy I found it was so sick the lady informed me it would be $350 to exam it and test it then more if they had to treat it I totally understand it cost money to treat your pet especially when it’s sick but I knew this little puppy had a little life left and she was very rude and said this is how we make our money I thought this being a veterinarian clinic maybe get some leeway she stated take it to Animal Shelter in the morning because it being after hours that’s how we make our money I will never ever use this clinic or refer anyone to this clinic It’s obvious all they care about is their money they do not care about no animals.
TOOK CAR STRICKED Stray puppy found dumped in bushes to ANIMAL ER ON INDUSTRIAL BLVD... Faculty/staff REFUSED TREATMENT due to an ID CHIP thats indicates I am NOT the ownerEmergency animal clinic, industrial blvd abilene tx WOULD SEE a puppy die of broken back legs etc.. they showed ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPATHY

2022-05-27So thankful they were open when no one else was! Memorial Day weekend I called 4-5 other places who all either didn’t have appointments or were closed unless you were already an established patient. Staff was friendly and understanding. I personally thought the price was decent, $100 standard rate plus $40 for an IV & antibiotic. Thankfully my fur baby was said to be fine and hopefully the diagnosis was accurate 🙏

2021-11-072 weeks ago, 1 of our aging dogs became very ill and we knew his time was just about up. We called the Emergency Vet Clinic and they said to bring him in, but not to even get him out of the car so he doesnt get stressed or put through any unnecessary pain and call when we got there. We called when we arrived and one tech came out, took all his information and had us pull around back. Two techs meet us and prepped him. A couple minutes later the Vet came out and administered the shots and within seconds our poor friend was at peace. They gave our entire family all the time we needed to say goodbye to our sweet boy in private. All the members of The Emergency Vet Clinic team were professional at all times and very gentle and comforting with our loved one. They made his last moments very calm and peaceful. They also sent our family a Sympathy Card signed by the entire Staff. That was awesome, very kind and comforting!

2022-03-22We recently had to say goodbye to one of our babies. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve had to put an animal down. It’s the hardest, and most devastating thing I’ve ever had to do. The Emergency Veterinary Clinic was there for us. They were so nice, and genuinely cared what we were going through. They sent us this really nice card with his paw prints. It made us so happy when we opened the card, and saw his paw prints. Thank you so much for being there for us. We greatly appreciate you!

2022-07-17We have been there twice with our two canine children. The staff were very courteous and compassionate. They came to us with the estimate and advised us how much it would cost before providing services. The veterinarians were knowledgeable and helpful and explained everything. The cost was half what we expected and nowhere near what we would have paid for the excellent services.

2022-05-23Took my dogs here after they were bitten by a rattlesnake. Everyone here was amazing. Very professional yet compassionate, efficient and very hard working. They took great care of my dogs and both recovered just fine.

2022-04-27Our sweet pup Bo got bit by a rattlesnake on his nose (2nd time in 2 years). The staff was AMAZING and could not have been more caring. Bo got the necessary shots and we came home with additional painkillers and antibiotics for the coming days. We REALLY appreciate having a 24-hr emergency vet service in Abilene 😊

2022-05-08We spent a ton of money taking our cat here because our regular vet couldnt fit her in until the following day and recommended she be seen sooner if the problem suddenly worsened. He didnt run a single test, just squeezed her bladder, painfully and decided it was a UTI. She suffered all night when a simple sonogram wouldve shown that it was serious inflammation from a disorder that is easily treated. We got charged almost $200 for no compassion and ZERO care.

2022-05-16Edit: Bumping up review to 3 stars. This place can be good when the right people are on staff. The vet that saw Sam a couple years ago was horrible but we recently had to take our other dog Bandit in and the experience was so much better. The staff seemed to care about him and loved on him while we were there. I think the lesson for any pet owner at any vet is this: follow your gut when it comes to your pet. If you think the vet should do more for your furry friend, speak up about it.---We took our dog Samson in after he began vomiting and acting lethargic. It was Saturday so this clinic was the only option available at the time. The receptionist was kind and got us into a room quickly. They took him into the back to take blood and do an x-ray at which point they found an object in his stomach that was very apparent on the x-ray. We were also told he had a bacterial infection. His blood work showed he had pancreatitis. The vet told us that the object was not important and we were given antibiotics and anti-nausea meds and sent on our way.Sam didnt improve, in fact he became worse and by Monday we took him to Abilene Vet Clinic where they did blood work and found he was in kidney failure. The tech and the vet were both shocked that the object in his stomach wasnt taken care of when it was found and that he wasnt admitted for the pancreatitis. Sam was admitted immediately and they began flushing his kidneys so that he would be strong enough for surgery to remove the object. On Wednesday, the surgery took 3 hours after it was found that not only did he have the object in his stomach, but also gauze and cloth that he must have pulled from our trash. He had 9 holes in his bowels that had leaked into his stomach and kidneys and had caused him to become sick. He made it through the surgery but unfortunately due to the toxicity levels in his body, he passed away about an hour after surgery. The vet at Abilene Vet said that while it still would have been critical if the surgery was done immediately on Saturday, he would have had a better chance at survival. Dont trust them to make the best decisions for your furry family member. It is a shame that they are the only emergency vet available in Abilene.
