Nice and well organized I really think that its going to be great when they get the additional areas finished next year. What I really like is the childrens interactive center which contain the porthole for multi-level climbing and then a rope bridge across leading to a spiral slide at the bottom that seemed like a lot of fun for the kids. When you go to the safari area you have giraffes and other animals and an open area and they also sell lettuce leaves that you can actually feed the giraffes and interact with which is really a great thing also.
Loved our trip to the zoo this week! A bit of construction going on so we will definitely return 2023 for reopening. Most of the animals they did have were hiding or far off in the distance. Kind of hard to see them. The splash pad they opened was an awesome way to cool down before we headed home. Although, the lifeguards could do better at watching the water for our little ones getting off the slides we enjoyed ever minute. Kids didnt want to leave. We brought our wagon & packed lunches. Great way to get the kids out of the house to learn & engage. Thank you FW!
Fantastic zoo, the new Elephant exhibit is awesome with water guns and a beautiful waterfall! My favorite exhibit is the Hippos, its at the far west side of the zoo and has a 50 glass wall allowing sub-surface viewing of the Hippos! One of my favorite places to take the family. Also there are 3 new baby giraffes you can feed for $6.During our most recent visit we counted 11 giraffes!
Great zoo with soooo many exhibits.. the kids had an awesome time. The staff have done an amazing job in keeping the place clean and less smelly, compared to other similar sizes zoos. This is the first zoo where I have seen a rhinoceros with its tusks.. the giraffe feeding experience is a must do activity, which the kids love the up close experience ... the hippo with the colorful fishes is a must see attraction as well.
First ever visit to this zoo and I was not disappointed. It was not only great to see and learn about the animals but the animals were active as well which is always fun to experience. They have a ton of great exhibits and this is a place that youll want to spend some time rather than rushing through. As someone from out of town I would certainly come back!
My first time visiting this zoo, and thought it was nice, but definitely not the best zoo in the nation. We went on a Friday, so it was a little crowded and tons of school kids were there. Parking was a long way out because we arrived about 10:00am. They do charge $5 for parking and admission was $32 for two and a toddler, and the train tickets were $4 for adults. The exhibits were nice, and it looks like they are expanding or remodeling. There are definitely a lot of bird exhibits! There are shops and restaurants inside the zoo, but we only stopped for a snowcone at one of the vendors. The train was not a sightseeing train through the zoo, it only took you from the back of the Zoo to the front…which is well worth it if you have a little one with you. I’d like to go back once all of the work they are doing is complete. It took about 2 hours for us to get through but we didn’t explore all of the bird exhibits.
Fort Worth Zoo it’s amazing ! With all the renovations and expansion they doing plus the updates it’s looking beautiful! The Zoo was so packed out on Wednesday spring break week, to mention half off price tickets. The most fun part getting out with the kids and seeing the joy was unforgettable!
We took a 45 minute drive to the Fort Worth Zoo and spent the whole day there! The layout was easy to walk, there were plenty of restrooms and refreshment stops. The animals were breath taking and the memories made were sealed deep into our spirit. We will for sure return.
One of the most well maintained and interesting zoos. I love how green and well shaded the place is.Exhibits were definitely more interesting than other zoos Ive been too with some have some running water. Highlight animals for me were the mountain lions, coyotes, red wolf, hippo, and some of the monkeys.Theres a good variety of animals here and I saw some Ive never seen. Lots of information and trivia plaques talking about the animals. I feel like you can learn so much here.
We really enjoyed our first visit to this zoo! Exhibits have tons of nature and they are all very well taken care of. It is very easy to walk through it. My 3 kids under the age of 6 were able to see plenty of animals. There are access ramps throughout the whole zoo and all doors have automatic open systems. They offer several shows for kids at different times during the day. There is also a little petting zoo area. The zoo gets pretty crowded though, so the earlier you get there the better. I wish you could see more animals from the train ride (a bit pricey). Parking is $5 and on Wednesdays prices are cheaper!
Wow. Having been to the Dallas Zoo just the previous month all I can say is wow.I dont want to do a comparison between the two, as they are different, and they each have some very different types of animals. However, I was very much impressed with this zoo.Its very big, so dont think youll be done in a few hours, if you can spend the whole day there, do it! You will not run out of things to do, and things to see.The architect and design was very well thought out and they did a great job at it. Everything seems to have been designed with a purpose.Great variety of animals. Very clean. Affordable.I 100% suggest visiting the Fort Worth Zoo and bringing the whole family!
A fun experience, lots to see, and you get close to some amazing animals. Weekdays are less hectic and pleasant. One thing to note is that the African and Asian big cats have been removed for renovation to their exhibits and will not return until 2023, with some new additions like the Malaysian tiger, clouded leopard, and African wild dogs. Interactive and extensive.
First time here. We spent the whole day here and it did not disappoint. Only downfall was that they’re doing some expansion so no lions or tigers until 2023 according to the sign they had there. Some staff felt like they didn’t want to be there either. Other than that, it was an overall great experience. Kids had a lot of fun.
This is the best zoo around. Super clean, friendly staff, and lots of animals to see. The zoo is spread out nicely but was still super busy during spring break. I was surprised at how quickly we got parked even with a very long line. Food lines were manageable but 20-30 minute wait. Prices were very reasonable on food and souvenirs. Kids loved seeing all the animals. Will be coming back for years to come.
Very nice, clean and great-sized zoo with a wide variety of animals. People here are nice, polite and friendly. We are a family of six with 4 children visiting from Bay Area of California and our kids loved it and had a great time here to see and learn about lots of awesome, cool and cute wildlife animals!
Summary: affordable, lots of great exhibits, not stroller/wheelchair friendly, short hours, often overcrowded and lacking parkingI just got a membership to this zoo while they were offering a deal, and was delighted at how affordable it was. My son is 10 months old, so hes most attracted to animals that are moving or that he can be very close to. The penguins are his absolute favorite, and he likes the meercats. I enjoy the big cats in the Texas section - the jaguar is gorgeous and the mountain lions have been pretty active when weve gone. One major downside of this zoo is the pervasive lack of ramps and automatic doors. Tons of people, including me, have kids in strollers, and the doors to bathrooms and exhibits are extremely difficult to manage. In addition, there arent very many ramps and some arent well marked, so Ive walked past them and had to backtrack a lot to get to the Australia and penguin exhibits. I cant believe this level of inaccessibility to wheelchairs is even legal. Theyre currently remodeling, so maybe theyll add some more automatic doors.Lastly, the most recent time I tried to visit the zoo, on a Thursday morning in April, there was a policeman redirecting traffic to the roadside near the zoo because the parking lot was full with 78 school buses. There wasnt even space along the road because it was already full of cars, so I abandoned the zoo and went somewhere else, but was very frustrated and a little betrayed because it takes so long to get a baby ready for an outdoor trip. I would really like to go to the zoo in the morning because it already gets so hot in the afternoons, but now Im worried that it will be too full. It feels like they sold me a membership at a time when theyre essentially closed to the public for the nicer half of the day. I feel like they should communicate more clearly about when field trips are happening, or **actually** shorten their hours during field trip season so I dont waste my time.In case anyone at the zoo is reading this, I would really love it if they would consistently open at 9 during the summer. Texas summer afternoons are dangerously hot for small children and older people, so it would be better for many people to come early in the morning, when its still bearable.
Its a shame that I can only give this zoo 5 stars. One visit here and its easy to see why this is the #1 zoo in America. I have a membership and try to go at least every other week. Its an awesome place, courteous and friendly staff who are willing to answer questions about the animals. Its clean and well kept, and the animals are lively and seem happy. Love the new extension with the hippos and elephants. Cant wait for the big cats extension to be complete!
Good place for both children and adults. Variety of animals, well maintained and good service. There are lot of different places to visit but extra fee for few exhibitions. We enjoyed a lot and almost spent whole day on the zoo. Its expensive but worth the price. Parking fee is separate and not included in the admission fee. Tiger and string ray are the best. You can feed giraffe and watch it very close. Highly recommend it.
This zoo is AWESOME! Im used to going to the Houston Zoo, which is huge but sort of corporate feeling. The Fort Worth Zoo has really great ambience, filled with lush trees and foliage that really creates a great, immersive animal viewing experience. Their exhibits were great and even in the heat of the summer we managed to stay pretty comfortable because of all the shade available. Its definitely a lot smaller than the Houston Zoo, but I enjoyed it more, so no docking on the score.
Well so far just getting into park is a bust. We reserved tickets for 10am, and it is 1030 and we havent even made it in yet to park. Not sure why it is so slow other than the booth for parking?More to come once we get inside.parking More? Well only 2 booths and three lanes coming in from 2 directions. Now once inside, everything flowed very well, never seemed.crowded. all the animals were out. Very impressed, the habitats were clean and marked well. Easy to get around. Cant wait to come back. Back again, no chords, easy in. Animals were out. The 2 small pieces of food to feed the rays is a joke though. And why is the train so much for a 3 minute ride 1 way?
This is probably the best, if not one of the best zoos I have been too. The price of the tickets and a $5 parking fee is very affordable and cheaper than the Dallas Zoo. Parking is convenient and there is plenty of it. Once you get inside the zoo, it is very spacious, especially if you want to still maintain social distancing, even on a busy holiday like July 4. And you definitely get your moneys worth. One thing that stood out to me about this zoo was how interactive you could be with the animals or get an interactive experience. Theres the zoos Elephant Springs where you can watch elephants play in the water and spray them to give them a drink of water, or the African Savanna, which allows partons to walk all the way around the area to see the giraffes and feed them at a single outpost location. The scene is beautiful and quiet, and the area is so large, you can come close to the giraffes from any area. You can also get close to otters, bears, birds (and feed some of them too). There is also a Texas Wild area for kids and a place to learn a little more about Texas, as well as an air conditioned sitdown area where patrons can eay Pizza Hut or a couple of other restaurants for a decent price. The zoo is also well shaded to keep cool from the sun and you can easily spend hours there as it continues to grow with another exhibit to be completed in a couple of years.
Thank you so much for having several places for nursing moms! This was an excellent zoo, lots of fun for the kiddos, and the park itself was clean and well kept. Only downside is their were quite a few exhibits closed, but we visited during the off season so I guess that expected so they can do maintenance.
Let me start by saying we enjoyed our day. The kids had a great time and thats really #1 on our list. Others have mentioned some of the negatives (having to pay for exhibits inside the park, construction, etc) but the biggest thing for us was it didnt feel like theres a lot to see. Lots of walking and beautiful foliage but not a lot of animals. Also, they advertise pretty heavy that theyre the #1 Zoo in the US. Not sure how theyre measuring that but we would rate the Dallas Zoo higher so we must be missing something on the rating.
Last year our company decided we wanted to do a company event at the Fort Worth Zoo for our employees. The event would be for close to 200 people so it is a large event that everyone was excited to attend. For the safety of our employees, we decided to move the event because Covid outbreaks began to rise again. We were assured this would not be an issue when we first signed the contract, which is why I contacted the zoo on 8/16/2021 and we settled on a 2022 date. We promoted the event again within our company and got everyone excited all over again. We recently contacted Brooke to get everything setup and told her that the deposit was received and the contract was already signed last year. We received several emails asking if we wanted the zoo animal outreach, I had told her that we wanted the same thing we had on the contract from last year no changes. Brooke proceeded to tell me that we have to sign a new contract even though we had signed one from last year and they had told us we could transfer everything over. The zoo attempted to pass on significant increases to our original contract and would not budge. The animal outreach went from $300.00 to $450.00, really do not understand why they need to go up that extreme if they already have the animals. This is a classic bait and switch, which is illegal. This review is solely based off off the customer service that we have had, we have not had our event at the zoo yet.
The Fort Worth Zoo is a lot of fun and great for the family. If you collect smashed pennies be sure to bring quarters and pennys for the machines! The giraffes are very coo and you can feed them lettuce, for a price. Also dont skip on seeing the Harpy aka Buckbeak from Harry Potter. My only issue with this Zoo is major areas were under construction and the layout is linear and not in a circle. Prepare yourself to backtrack and look at the map when planning your path. You can also bring specific drinks and food into the park to save some cash. If you park in the zoo parking lot its $5.Overall fun zoo, a good amount of animals, and fun for the family.Bring sunscreen and hydrate because Texas is hot!
Had a good time with my family. Zoo was excellent. All animals were out plus a few extra. The extra were the downside to the zoo. Ignorant people just need to stay home if they are not out there to have a good time. Im just glad everyone ignored them and enjoyed the zoo. Keep up the good work Fort Worth Zoo.
This used to be a nice place to come as far as zoos.... we went this weekend, and it was way too crowded. There should definitely be a cut off, or some type of staggered entry. We couldnt really enjoy because there was so many people at each exhibit. A lot of animals arent there due to construction.
Do Not Visit On Spring Break! It was so crowded you literally couldn’t step 6 inches in any direction without bumping into anyone. It took us 45minutes to park! There is no way they are allowed to have that many people in there. We were miserable and everyone around us was miserable. My 4 year old literally asked to go home because we couldn’t even get close enough to exhibits to see any animals. When you could get close, you had to move quickly so the hoard of people behind you could look too. Lines for bathrooms were 15+ minute waits. The line for Stingrays was about 45+ minute wait. It took 45+ minutes to squeeze your way through the reptile exhibit and barely get a look at any animals. The petting area had maybe 15 goats for 40+ people. The vending machine we found that had water left over wouldn’t take anyones card. Lines for restaurants were insanely long. We were forced to park far away from the main parking area because the police officer directing traffic said they had to make people park to get rid of congestion on the road. So we had to walk about a mile to get to and from the place. Almost ALL of the parents around me looked miserable. I witnessed two women getting into a screaming match because there was no space to pass each other in the reptile place and they lost it. I could not wait to leave. Honestly, they really need to cap how many people are allowed in on busy days because that experience was so bad, I don’t ever want to go back. Worst part is that we didn’t even get to see any animals. My 4 year old told me that she didn’t want to ever go to the zoo again. We actually have up half way through and left without trying to see a lot of the exhibits because we knew it would be impossible. Also, they don’t give you a paper map anymore and want you to use a QR code, but a lot of people were complaining that they didn’t have cell service and couldn’t look up the map…myself included. So on top of trying to get through insane crowds, you are also doing it blind.
The zoo was so fun! We loved seeing all the animals! It was under construction when we went so I can’t wait until the predators are open to see that amazing new area! The only problem was that the food areas were all closed except the burger shack so they were so busy that ordering took 20-30. It was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend so you think they would have opened more things.
AWESOME 👌 even though the zoo was under construction we had an awesome time, feeding the giraffes and seeing the silverback gorilla was amazing. I cant wait to go back when they finally get the lions, and hienas. I didnt see the wolf or the kangaroos i dont know if i just missed them or they were not there.
Definitely dont waste your money. They have a third of the zoo closed for renovations. Went today on half price day and there were many schools there for field trips. Despite there probably being 1,000+ children there, they had almost all the food places closed down. There were lines out the doors because of this and it took 30+ minutes just to get through the line. Even after getting the food, its terrible. The fries taste like cardboard and the graham crackers that come in the kids meals are so stale they are practically inedible. Even for half price tickets, its definitely not worth it.
We had a very great time today. I love how clean the zoo is and wide the walkways to allow for multiple wagons, strollers, and wheel chair users to use. Very accessible zoo. The only reason for no 5 star is because some of the sections werent labelled clearly and we had a hard time finding the Australian section. And when we got there, we couldnt find the bears or the kangaroos or meerkats - I believe they just werent there after asking a few other people. which made us feel down since the lions and those other safari sections were already closed. Otherwise had a good time and our toddler was wiped. We will be back after those exhibits open back up. We especially loved how closed the giraffes got to you and how close you could view other animals like the penguins.
Great experience, a zoo with a lot of Texas animals to see. For the kids there was tons to see they do have a petting zoo. A good addition was the Texas wild life area that had a old western area. Recommend going, only thing is that some areas wont open due to renovation happing currently. Even without those animals and exhibits still fun.
Very disappointing.Very few open exhibits. We had to search for animals. The enclosures are small. The zoo is very spread out, be sure and bring your walking shoes. The parking situation is awful. We were forced to park on a side street and then walk a 1/2 mile to the gate. Our small town zoo in Tyler Tx is so much better. We won’t be back.
REVIEW: @fortworthzoo is such a great zoo! It has been rated as the top zoo in the nation for several years in a row now, and it truly is a wonderful #zoo if you like them. This has been one of the BEST memberships Ive purchased for myself and my kids. We go once a week and spend an hour or more. The park is huge and it would take a full day to see everything and even then 6 hours (hours are 10am-4pm) may not be enough because theres so much to see.Currently, there is a huge construction project underway called A Wilder Vision which includes the lions, tigers, leopard, hyena to name a few so prepare yourselves not to see those until 2023. Even though the construction is ongoing, there are still lots of great exhibits open:*Toyota Childrens Ranch & Petting Corral*African Savannah*Australian Outback*Flamingo Bay*MOLA (Museum of Living Art)*Parrot Paradise*Penguins*Raptor Canyon*Texas Wild*World of PrimatesTodays exhibit highlight is Flamingo Bay! Enjoy the photos of some of the colorful flamingos. I will say, this is the one exhibit that Im thankful to be wearing a mask through. Those birds are beautiful but they sure get smelly! 😂 Do worry too much about the smell though, its right at the entrance so youll be through it quickly to enjoy the rest of the #parkWhether you get a membership or just visit for a day (Wednesdays are half price), you should definitely plan a trip! Go online to make your reservation up to 3 days in advance. You need that before you go!
Awesome half day zoo! Four stars only because about 1/3 of the zoo is closed for updated exhibits projected to open in 2023 (cheetahs, tigers, zebras, hyenas, lions). Also, the elephants are slated to reopen Spring 2021 but theres still a small section to see them from afar. Once these are completed it will be 5 stars for sure! The rest of the zoo was great! The animals were super active and fun to view and learn about. I was also super impressed with the Texas Wild exhibits and got to learn a lot about Texas that I never knew! The Savannah exhibit is really awesome too how close you can get to viewing all the animals!!
Been to quite a few zoo’s in my day, but this is one of the worst. Don’t understand how it’s rated one of the best... The zoo itself is relatively small, getting to it involves fighting with traffic to go down this narrow road (which took an hour to get to the parking lot once we got within 1.5 miles of the zoo itself). The whole social distancing is non-existent, only staff members I saw were working concession stands and even then, those were limited. A good deal of the animals are by themselves and look miserable and either lay there in the back corner away from people or are walking around in that depressed/anxious manner. Be sure to buy your tickets online and print them out, otherwise they won’t let you in. Saw countless people get turned away to leave and print them off since “their digital scanner did not work...still”. Don’t waste your time with the Fort Worth location, go to the Dallas one instead.
Perfect place to come!My fiancé set this date up for us and it was so beautiful and perfect, so many visitors and people of color 👍🏾 this place had more exotic animals than the Dallas Zoo, they are doing more construction to build a bigger zoo! (2023) some variety of food places were open but now all. Try out the dots ice cream very good place but a bit pricy for a small cup that doesn’t seem to have bigger sizes and also the souvenir’s as well but overall you are paying for such a beautiful site whenever my child is born she will love it here.
A decent sized zoo. This zoo had a very detailed amphibian / reptile exhibit. There were more birds and amphibians than mammals. The penguins were adorable. There werent many food options currently but you could bring your own food. You have to wear a mask to walk inside but the place isnt too crowded and is manageable. They handled the Covid epidemic quite well. A good 3-4 hour visit overall and quite enjoyable.
We took our kids and we were very disappointed. Not only did it take forever to even get a parking spot, but after getting inside, due to construction, a huge part of the zoo was off limits. Many attractions cost extra, there were plenty of opportunities to spend even more money, and we actually saw very few animals.
My class and I had a horrible time at the zoo. There were far too many people and we were cramped the entire time. Maximum occupancy was surely passed. There was ONE poor guy trying to get what must have been 5,000 kids into the park. The staff was friendly, but whoever is running this operation is inept beyond all belief.Update: years later the same exact problem. Causing horrible traffic.
The zoo was nice, but I dont believe that it is as nice as it is hyped up to be. The construction was kind of a bummer since we traveled so far to visit, but I do think its great that they are working to improve things, so I can get past that. My biggest complaint is the additional charges for parking, petting the stingrays, etc. I think that when you pay so much for a ticket, that should be included in the price. Just another zoo in my opinion.
We are zoo members and have been visiting for the past three years. This most recent visit was Terrible. Parking took about 45 min. And they made us park all the way in the back across the street, the furthest back as possible by the tree line, so walking to the entrance was a bit of a hike. A bad start to the day but we remained positive…..until we finally get inside, it was over crowded. Never have i seen it this crowded before. It was extremely uncomfortable. Why would they ever allow that many people in at once ??? It was insane. The whole experience was unenjoyable, we ended up cutting it short. They need a limit on the amount of people who should enter
The cheetahs and tigers are all gone until 2023 it is under construction. Alot of exhibits we could not see the animals, and many of the birds cages were empty. I was highly disappointed the amount we spent for what was available today. We will not be returning until 2023 when the zoos main attractions are back. The baby elephant was very cute to see today though.
The Zoo Is Amazing ! I just wanna say please teach your Train Staff that ITS OKAY to help someone with kids struggling to get their stroller folded up and inside the train instead of standing right there like an idiot and choosing to ignore someone in need. I AM SO BEYOND grateful to the lady that got out of her train seat to come help me out. 🥺 I dont know your name but i am so thankful for your help today. I wish everyone was as kind as you. 😭
Not well maintained. Every staff member was extremely rude, yelling at people, not accommodating for strollers and if asked where something was, they would either ignore you or act like they didn’t know. The worst part though was that half the zoo was under construction and you still pay full price. There were no signs telling you that all the tigers, lions, cheetahs etc were not there until you actually got to the exhibit. If you do go, I would ask what exhibits are open before paying to get in.Horrible experience and will not be returning.
DO NOT COME HERE DURING SPRING BREAK OR SUMMER DAYSI grew up going to this zoo, t used to be fun and interactive. We accidentally went on a Sunday during spring break. SO MANY STROLLERS (that it makes me not want to have kids because a lot of the kids and parents looked miserable !!!! Parking was so far from the zoo because of tickets being oversold and overcrowded. Inside there was not a lot of room to accommodate the crowds. Construction was going on so a lot of the animals were MIA. So much for being one of Americas top zoos. Heres to the 2023 construction completion.
Visited this zoo instead of Dallas due to recommendation from my dentist. And it was an okay zoo. I thought it was good. The food was good. I thought it was weird that the guy who took my food order was stand off-ish. Maybe need to reevaluate some of the workers. Some areas that I did not like would have to be the shopping areas because they were low in stock in toddler shirts and I really wanted to get my toddler a shirt. I think that maybe all of the gift shops really need to be updated because they were running low on a lot of things. I thought the animals were cute and my toddler enjoyed. The fish exhibits could use some work, too.
It’s got it where it counts. The animals look happy, very well taken care of. It’s a joy to walk in since there is so much shade and very pleasant landscaping. It’s very crowded and hardly anyone is wearing a mask. Why even bother having to reserve a time and spot, if there’s no social distancing, no masks and it seems to be operating at full capacity? It seems tacky and counter-productive.And yes, it is expensive to buy things and food. Duh, it’s a zoo, that’s how they make money! For $16 you’re getting a gorgeous zoo and even the MOLA, which is worth the admission price alone. But come on, that’s on you. BYOWater and snacks, even a cooler, no one checks your bags.I had a good time.
Great zoo to spend a day at! Although there is some construction, there are still plenty of animals to see. We went on a Sunday after 2PM. It was quite busy but didnt ruin our day. We were one of the dreaded patrons with a stroller which Ive seen alot of people complain about. Im sorry but the zoo is a family place and if you dont like kids and strollers, you shouldnt go to a ZOO! The only complaint we had was we ran out of our own water that we brought and with it being so hot we tried to buy drinks at the vending machines along the trails and none of them worked or they were out of everything. Several of the restaurants are closed and Im not sure why but they were closed when we came over a month ago as well. By the time we found a cafe to get a drink we were parched lol. I also wanna say Ian at the burger shack is a top notch employee and very attentive and courteous. He refused my $10 tip which that needs to be a rule that the zoo changes. Employees deserve tips especially if they are polite and hardworking. Either way, it was a great visit as always and this zoo will forever be my favorite!
What an awesome zoo. We went while visiting my mom from out of town. Awesome variety of animals and very reasonable entry price with a few small paid options. One of the only zoos weve ever been able to actually been able to feed giraffes! Will be back next time we visit for sure.
We went there yesterday (bought our tickets in advance), and left after 30 minutes of being there. It was so incredibly crowded that you literally could barely move around, let alone see any of the animals. There really needs to be a capacity limit. The worst experience I’ve ever had at a zoo.
We’ve been a member for 3 years now.Always a great time.Staff could be a little friendlier, but I get it.People complaining about crowds yet going during the busiest week of the year make me laugh. We’ve been DOZENS of times. Never had to park in the far lot, or had to fight through people to get a look at any exhibit. We love the new Elephant exhibit, and can not wait for the rest of the construction to finish!
My daughter and I have the best time at the Fort Worth Zoo today. They have done some updates since I have been here last and I really liked the giraffe feeding area addition. They have a lot of construction going on for the tiger exhibit, which will be opening in 2023, really looking forward to seeing what they have planned. My only critique is that they did not have hand sanitizing stations throughout as I would have expected. Always a good time here though.
Been going here since i was a child and now i take my children! Being born and raised in Fort Worth. It is Very educational for them with live shows and other interesting games and sensory activities. Masks required for food areas but not outside or elsewhere is nice as the pandemic normalizes and people either get vaccinated, heal and recover, or dont contract it. Hard for force a 4 year old with conditions to wear a mask lol. But me and his sis with ADHD do where its required. Kids had enough of that and both have disabilities and youngest wont wear one at all without crying and those wearing them terrify him. My 4 year old son loves eating at the burger king and seeing the dinosaur (or dragon) gators he calls them swimming by and the water park. And my 10 year old daughter loves petting the sting rays. Animals are very well cared for and lots of conservation efforts through this zoo. Cant wait to see the new additions in the next 5+ years. Just wish the food was better and that the water park and sting rays didnt cost $5 extra for each encounter on different days.
Our family absolutely loves the Fort Worth Zoo, but today 04/14/2022 was a nightmare! Whoever is in charge in scheduling field trips, messed up tremendously. Staff and visitors as a whole were all on edge with the amount of schools y’all had scheduled for today. That zoo was busting at the seems! Y’all were definitely way over y’all’s allotted occupancy. Also, with the amount of people who were there, literally so many that they weren’t even parked on the zoo grounds, lots parking over at other business near the zoo and walking over and yet no cops till it was time to leave this afternoon; and even with that, they only took care of one lane. This was our kids big field trip for the year, and it was wasted due to y’all’s negligence to over schedule dozens upon dozens of schools on the same day! Please do better for the next group of kids, they really look forward to getting to go on these field trips.
If you’re looking to see predators then I’d wait until 2023, when they have their exhibit finished. We drove 2.5 hrs & my kids were disappointed to see they didn’t have any. Also there weren’t a lot of food options/ snack areas. It was a hot day and we tried to get water /snacks through vending machines but they didn’t work or were sold out. So I’d bring your own snacks just incase.
The Ft.Worth Zoo is awesome. The best time to visit is a weekday if youre not a fan of crowds. Wednesday is half price day so expect large crowds on this day.We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves on Monday. I even got to pet some goats ...it was great!! The staff is excellent and the zoo exhibits are nice. Theyre working on the new elephant area which will be great Im sure. Plenty of food, drink, and rest areas. Fee is 16 for adults now but its to help maintain a great zoo.
This is by far the best zoo that I ever visited! Love the trails, animals, exhibits and the mini outings. It is bigger than you think and it features all kinds of animals:monkeys, zebras, lions, snakes, crocodiles, elephants and so many more. They are also fairly reasonable to get in,also affordable food. Whether you fly solo or or with a group,it is a great place to explore the outdoors.
My son has his fieldtrip at the ft worth zoo last week, worst day ever. The amount of schools that were scheulde was ridiculous, for the busses to park took an hour and a half. To go inside tje zoo took an hr trying to get tickets. The kids had an hour to walk at the crowded zoo. The zoo was so packed you couldnt even walk, or see any animals. We spend 36 dollars in tickets for us to be able to walk around for an hour. They had buses from irving arlington mansfield and coppell, those busses should had been sche uh led for a different day since they are not to close to ft worth. Im very disappointed of the poor plaining
Great last minute outing to the Fort Worth Zoo on Christmas day. Admission was still half price as it was Wednesday. $8 for adults, $6 for children, $5 for parking charger. Elephant exhibit is currently under construction. Should open in Spring 2020. All special attractions and restaurants were closed. However there are several vending machines throughout the zoo for candy and drinks. Thinking of feeding the giraffes? Be prepared to pay $6 for three leafs of romaine lettuce. I loved that all the animals were out and visible. Maybe its because I generally visit in the summer time. I love the updates and the open concept.
Ive been here since trips during elementary school and have always had a distinct impression of the amphibian and reptile exhibit. I have a few photos I particularly enjoyed, and may come back to update the review with new photos (note: updated 2020.) These images were capture about 8 years ago. I had a few black and white images as well using 35mm film though believe these will suffice. Many areas of the Zoo really stand out, and I also enjoyed the exhibit with the boat and the coastal birds.Update: March, 2020, a lot of new changes are taking place with a strong focus on on immersion within each habitat exhibit, such as regional emphasis on areas. I was a bit surprised to spot what looked like remains from Halloween near the childrens area, and in more than one spot.
They need filtered fountains for kids to run through... its Texas heat.... just sayin. But still the only zoo to go to in DFW area due to the accessibility to see the animals. You can feed the giraffes for 6$ a head of lettuce (kinda pricey, but worth it if you cut them in half). Feed the giraffes first and enjoy the Savannah, feed the birds in the the bird cage ($1?), see the gorillas, jump on the bouncy bridge on the other side of the Zoo, and check out the sea otters which did laps back and forth along the glass when we went. Sometimes its just a be there at the right moment and you will get amazing views of the animals. If its too hot, the animals could be in the shade. If its a little cooler, they will be out. Still the only Zoo to visit in the DFW. Great Zoo. Cant wait for it to get warmer again to go.
We recently visited the ZOO with our 3 year old daughter and she enjoyed watching the animals. I wouldn’t say it is totally worth for what you paid but it was just ok. You won’t find Lion, Tiger, Leapord, etc . as construction is going on for these animals. You have to shell out extra money for Yellow Rose Train ($4 for one way), Safari Plash ($5) and Stringray Cove ($4). You can feed Giraffes with Lettuce and they sell Lettuce bundle for $6 which is quite expensive as they will give you exactly three leaves. If your like to feed take Romanian Lettuce along with you. I couldn’t find any public drinking water provided by ZOO and 21oz of Water/Drink costs $4 (you are allowed to take food/soft drinks with you).Verdict, trip is bit expensive !!
Dont remember last time I attended this zoo, but decided to go after hearing it was rated the #1 Zoo in America. It has and is in the process of expanding its already natural large animal pens, and has everything from exotics to every day farm animals. Many things make this zoo worth the trip in, but notably, its themed animal viewing areas including animals specific to Texas, African Safari, swamp, walk through Aviaries, etc. I do have some Cons: Zoo hours currently are restricted to just 7 hours daily and have to purchased online, which is fine, but the web site was down due to traffic hits so actually had to drive to the zoo to get them. Tix for adults are $16 + $5 parking. All shows, and many of their specialty areas were not operating. Train ride was limited to a certain number people due to social distancing measures. 20oz water was outrageously expensive. I certainly want to give this another try, but probably will wait until their attractions are fully operational. Experience despite the cons was good.
Really good zoo. Animals have nice enclosures and didnt seem too stressed or miserable at being locked up. Lots of shade as you walk round. The reptile exhibit was very good and a good spot to cool off for a while. Shops, cafes and other amusements as you would expect. Thought it was very reasonably priced for several hours of enjoyment.
One of the best Zoos I saw in recent years. It is bigger and better than Dallas Zoo. It has almost all animals from Lions, Tigers to Insects, Reptiles. Elephant area is under construction, so elephants are not there. It also has small train for observations. Has enough restaurants and cafes for food. Also, some areas are designed with themes like Texas Ranch, African Safari.
Great zoo! Great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Feel like you are in the wild yourself. Great variety of animals and close up experiences, through glass or up close and personal. Takes about 2-3 hours at minimum depending how long you view animals. Most will ask, Dallas or Fort Worth? If I had to pick one, I would pick Fort Worth. Both are great but Fort Worth has more to offer and little better experience. My only downside is the expected one, the price for food and drinks... $4 plus tax for a soda drink or bottled water. And of course food, including candy is jacked up.*Pics of some animals included in post*
Excellent zoo and well worth the price, all the animals seemed happy and we saw people constantly either cleaning the cages, feeding the animals, or playing with the animals. well worth 17$ a person, i only expected to spend 2 hours there and spent 5! the only annoying pet was 1 employee told me i couldn’t vape in there 4.5 hours being there and vaping past other employee’s and security guards, but that doesn’t knock down any points for me because it was just one person. i didn’t vape inside any buildings or where it said “please no smoking”, if y’all truly don’t want people to vape in the open spaces you should probably add it to the “don’t bring in” sign by the front or put up some signs in general. again, it didn’t really dent my experience and it was a truly amazing zoo.
This is a wonderful zoo that offers tons of exhibits for every age group. The zoo is small enough to see everything but large enough to spend a whole day here. I absolutely love how clean it was when my wife and I went.My one disappointment is that many things were closed on the day we went.
A bit expensive to get in. No discounts for families/groups. $5.00 parking. Food/drinks/entertainment will cost you. Bring your own food and drinks.Great place for the kids. Animals are GREAT. It is My opinion, but, I think this zoo is larger and better than the Dallas zoo. It seems like there are more animals visible. Not too much traffic getting there. Professional and friendly staff. Petting zoo is also a great place to take the kids while inside.
Ive been going to this zoo for 44 years. This zoo is easily one of the best zoos in the country. The additions and renovations over the years have been very beneficial to the animals. As a fan of herpetology, MOLA is the best exhibit Ive ever seen. Texas Wild is a very close second. For anyone visiting from out of town, this zoo is a must see.
Great experience. Definitely better than the Dallas Zoo. Many places to grab food along the walking route which is awesome when youve got hungry kiddos with you. The animal enclosures were all right for size, but the viewing areas of the enclosures were really great. We got to see many of the animals pretty close. Their Texas and Australian exhibits could use some help though. Very few animals and the set up was mediocre. The aquariums werent anything special. If your kiddo is into fish, I suggest the Kids Aquarium at Fair Park instead. Parking was a pain, but Im not sure if this was because of a special event going on today or if this was normal. Restrooms were spaced fairly regularly so no need to have to loop back to the front or long breaks between opportunities to go. Pretty interactive zoo and a great afternoon out. Plenty of shade, but no real protection from inclement weather so make sure you go on a good day. Food, drinks, and strollers are allowed in.
Stop booking all the schools, at one end of year at one time! Its so ridiculous that we cant even look the exhibits good because there were way to many kids every where. Therefore from booking all the schools created very long lines if you want to get something to eat. Wait time 30mins. We did not foresee this as we ourselves came with our kid for his school trip. So we didnt pack a lunch think it would be easy to get something to eat. Beyond disappointed. Please do better to not over book so many schools. Especially different age groups. That was another concern. Elementary was mixed in with highschoolers or college groups.
Really nice zoo with a good variety of animals to see. I especially loved the hippos, but I wish their enclosure was bigger. Maybe I didnt see it all, not sure. We rode the train and went into the Stingray Corral (both additional fees,) but my daughter loved it! The new elephant enclosure looks like it will be amazing once its renovated! We went on Wednesday when tickets are half price & spring break = a lot of people!! We enjoyed the extra attractions that are included like the petting zoo and indoor big barn playground.
Fort Worth Zoo is located in Fort Worth Area, Texas, USA near Fort Worth International Airport. This zoo was opened for public in 1909 and No.5 ranked in North America and also the oldest one. Total area is 64 acres. There are huge collections of animals, birds, reptiles and mammals. Lots of exhibitions also organize inside the located area. Friendly Staffs, Nice and Peaceful area, Reasonable Tickets Price for age groups, selections of cafeteria, Gift Shop. Better spend time with kids, friends and families.
Small but very inviting! Price is reasonable. Animal enclosures are planned very well and some of the best. Their was lots of security and phones to call if you needed assistance. Employees were pleasant and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Food was reasonable and good. Grandkids enjoyed feeding the giraffes for $6. The carousel was $3 a person. The train was $3 a person for one way. Stingrays cost $5 plus extra for food. It was a very nice Zoo trip.
Labor day weekend and its in the 90s and the Dippin dots and all of the snack stands are closed. Only 3 food places were open. The pens for the animals were small, especially the small penguins. Overall experience was a 2, but the animals raised it to a 3. Good variety of animals and trails were nice.
My husband and I went to the zoo on our vacation to TX. Its a great zoo!! Nice and clean. Lots of animals to see. The animals looked well cared for. There is some renovations going on. Its mostly in the elephant area. Theres a lot of cool animals to see. I loved the primate section. They also have an area where you can feed the giraffes. Its done at certain times of the day. Admission is very reasonable. I highly recommend!
I loved everything about it. Even though some parts are outdoor exhibits, people still kept their distance and wore mask. For it to be a zoo... it didnt smell horrible like most places that have any type of animal lol. Even the food was delicious 😋 Im excited to see the new add ons coming 2023. My family and I will be returning.
Needs to be alot more handicap equipped doors are heavy and hard to open me and my husband are both in electric wheelchairs and theres no automatic doors very few of them aside from that we love going there on our anniversary we our first&3rd year but missed going our 2nd year due to the COVID OUTBREAK Love the sites
Fun day at the zoo with lots of engaging educational activities. Discounts for currently enrolled students should be offered, maybe? Slightly disappointed that the elephant exhibit has been closed for construction, but the African Safari Exhibit was really nice. The new (to me, at least) hippo/cichlid enclosure was one of the most interesting things to see. The animals of Texas area is really cool and wasnt there last time we were there.
We visited Fort Worth Zoo on a pleasant day after driving 40 miles and it was well worth the drive and fee. It is a Texas themed zoo with all kinds of animals, birds and reptiles. There were flamingos in different colors. We will definitely visit again when elephant center is completely renovated. It was full of greenery and has many restaurants on the track. Id recommend to be there by the opening hour to avoid crowd and get a closer parking spot.
Dont go.Its impossibly overcrowded and there is nowhere near enough parking for all the people that try to get in. Personally I am sorry I wasted the hours sitting in traffic on the tiny side streets that lead to the zoo only to be told there was no parking available when I finally got within sight of the zoo.Oh and there are no refunds if you buy tickets online but then cant actually get in.
Its absolute fantastic spot for a whole day. We entered at 11 and it has two routes the best fun place starts from right side road which goes to African Savannah and Asian falls where you see lion and other wild animals. They geographically distributed the park which is the best part. Australian, American, African asian.. much more.. I feel there should be more feed and feel .. otherwise its absolutely fantastic. Love it
Had a great time at the zoo! Fairly priced to get in. Parking was free cause Im a disabled vet. We also got military discount which was great! There were so many animals out the day we went (3/14/19). It was a beautiful warm day. It was a bit crowded but it was also during Spring Break so understandable! My kids enjoyed the penguins being fed and the loved the fish in the aquarium too.Al in all it was a great experience and we will definitely be coming back! ♡
The hardest part of this experience is the wait and traffic just to get into this zoo. If you arrive early before your reservation time and try to go in, you will be asked to come back few minutes before your allotted time as it happened to us. I liked how there were plenty of spots to picnic at. If you’re a germaphobe and a social distance freak, this probably isn’t the place for you on the weekend as it’s packed and the exhibits are a tad bit small.
With the exception of lions not being in a good, healthy condition; the Fort Worth zoo was worth the visit. Feeding the birds and giraffe was fun. Eating sitting beside the glass enclosure of gators was exceptionally exciting. The Zola (fishes and snakes) enclosure was awesome. They do have activities where feeding the animals can be seen along with other encounters. The staffs are courteous, wouldn’t mind at all if you ask them any information about the animals. It’s a recommended visit.
I hadnt been to the zoo in a few years. I was very pleased with the continued updates to the establishment to create an atmosphere conducive to the animals natural habitat. The giraffe experience was A+! And and experience I will never forget. I will say I was sad more of the big cats werent out, but I understand. It was hot! 🔥
We had so much fun. There were lots of areas where they would spray cool mist. Helped us cool of a bit. My daughter was so excited to see all the animals. What I loved about this zoo is that you get to see the animals up a bit closer than the one in Dallas. We also loved the aquarium.
My family and I love this zoo. The animals are well taken care of, and they never look sad like at some zoos Ive been to. They have an excellent childrens area, and the train is super fun. When you combine your visit with a trip to nearby Trinity park, it makes for a super fun family outing.
This is a really nice zoo. All enclosures are open and free for the animals. Its really good to see for visitors and for the animals. We went during the week and it wasnt very crowded at all. Our young children were able to see each exhibit without a line. My only complaint was that there were a lot of empty enclosures and we paid full price.
It was a great day. Staff is very helpful and attentive. We got tickets ahead of time and it was fun. The Splash Pad is a wonderful addition since the last time we visited! Especially on a hot July day! If you go on half price Wednesday or the weekend expect it to be busier than usual for obvious reasons.
The Forth Worth Zoo is by far the best place we have visited in the Dallas area! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was not crowded. We were able to walk to all the exhibits even in the heat and see All the animals. They have different Entertainment and question/answers throughout the day. The Zoo employees are knowledgeable, polite and very nice. We enjoyed the Giraffe experience the most since we were able to feed the giraffe and have it close to us.
This zoo is hands down the best zoo Ive been to. The layout was amazing and all parts were accessible if you have strollers or wheelchairs. There almost every possible animal that you could think of here. The Primate exhibit was fantastic! It really feels like you are up close and personal with the gorillas. If you are ever in Ft Worth and love going to zoos, please visit this one!
This zoo is ranked #4 in the nation. One thing is for sure is it has earned its ranking without a doubt. Its a wonderful zoo. The zoo is structured in a way that allows you to see the zoo in its entirety without having to wonder if you did. You hop on a path and travel around constantly seeing different animals of different regions. If by chance you wanted to leave early (not sure why) then you can dart off the path to the main road around the zoo and head back to the front. However, if you stick to the trail you will see amazing animals in their natural habitats at an easy viewing angle. We live in OKC and they built our Lion exhibit where the lions are on a hill where you can barely see them ever. Here they are directly in front of you or at an angle below you with little to no fencing in between so you get a perfect view and perfect pictures to remember the trip.
This is a great place for kids of all ages and adults. There are so many animals to see and interactive centers for the kids. Feeding the giraffes is a must! We ate at the Bluebonnet Cafe inside the zoo where there is a Pizza Hut, Grill, and Dickeys BBQ. Its in the Texas section of the zoo. The BBQ was the best tasting but the grill burger was also pretty good. Its okay pricing, not way overpriced but still restaurant prices. The splash pad is also a must at the end of a hot zoo trip!
We absolutely love this zoo. The only problem is that some places its really hard to navigate a stroller. tons to see but you might actually need to take two trips to see the whole zoo. We have an annual membership and you get all kinds of discounts, its a great deal!
This a was a surprise hit. Even though its 96 degrees and a little humid we all enjoyed this zoo. I was told about this once we arrived in Arlington and I am glad we went. Even though the big cats were sleeping mid-day, we saw all the other animals we wanted to see. We even fed a baby giraffe! Great place to visit if you are ever near Dallas-Fort worth area.
This place is awesome for all ages. Its clean, beautiful, lots of plants and vegetation providing ample shade. Its another dimension in there. The animals are very well kept and they are not stressed. Though I am a person who thinks that animals should be left in their natural habitat, but I still think that this zoo is a wonderful place.
I have fond memories of going to this zoo with my son a few years ago. I was visiting DFW this weekend and brought my daughter this time around. The park vendors are not out, there are no shows, and the COVID-19 rules that they have posted on signs around the park are not being enforced. There were crowds of people at the exhibits and although the zoo has marked the spots where people should stand with yellow tape on the floor, people are not using them, and employees are not enforcing it. The signs posted around the park say face masks and 6 ft distancing are requirements, but it seems like they are just there for legal purposes. The animal exhibits are interesting and it was good to have my daughter experience seeing the animals. I just wish the safety measures were better enforced, since children are not required to wear face masks and people were sneezing and coughing without face masks.
This was a really nice zoo considering I didnt even know ft worth had a zoo to begin with. It made me feel like I was in Disneys animal kingdom they way it was decorated. It was really large so have good walking shoes. The animals were so close. You could even feed the giraffes.
Lots of different animals and activities. Elephants exhibit is not open due to exhibit expansion, but will return in 2020. Theres reptile exhibits, gorillas, giraffes, rhinos, monkeys, lions, zebras, flamingos and way more. Make sure to get there early to try to see everything.
My wife and I always have mixed feelings about zoos so when we decided to check out the Fort Worth Zoo we weren’t sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to see the hippos, elephants, a rhinoceros, tigers, giraffes, and best all the guerrillas. I could watch the guerrillas for hours, and when we were there we were lucky to see a baby playing and interacting with a Silverback! It was simply amazing! Overall a nice zoo and a good experience. Some of the enclosures seemed a bit small for some of the animals (like the tigers), but it was great to see they are working to expand many such as the elephant area.
This is an experience for zoo lovers. The habitats were well thought out and my children enjoyed seeing the blend of animals in certain sections of the zoo. The animals seemed very happy even though it was hot. They are completing some construction, but it did not deter from our experience.
Most of the zoo is in shade so it stays cool even on a warm day. There is plenty to see and do there even with the expansions planned. If you do have younger kids they do have an area called the splash pad. It costs extra and you need to have a swimsuit but the kids will have a blast.
I really do enjoy the Fort Worth Zoo. It is a great place to bring the family and get together with friends. They have a very rustic setup and it seems very homely. I strongly suggest bringing your own food because the cost can be high and the lines can be long. Definitely plan on doing a decent amount of walking as the zoo is fairly stretched out. There is not a lot of cover so make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and water. Wednesday is half price which is a great value and if you really want to go the extra quarter mile there is free parking nearby. There are plenty of activities for young and old. If you live here or are visiting Fort Worth I strongly suggest making this a stop on your itinerary.
The Fort Worth zoo was an extremely easy, shady walk. Parking is $5. The train is $3. A stick with bird food on it is $1. Everything else was free! They have parakeets you can feed but they seemed pretty full. They had all the heavy hitters such as elephants, giraffes and lions. The reptile building was seriously phenomenal. They had a different snake you could play with every hour. The childrens play center is indoors and so very nice. My kids would have stayed there all day. They also have a splash pad I think, there was a sign for it.. but I didnt check it out since its November and all.Overall, very good little zoo. We enjoyed it.
Well kept up, I recommend getting there early as it gets seriously busy! A lot to do for the family! I cant wait until 2023 for all the new extensions! Hopefully that will give the elephants the space they deserve as right now they dont have a lot of room at all and I was disappointed to only see one gorilla as thats my favorite animal and idk maybe the others were hiding haha! Over all I loved it and so did the kids!
Fort Worth zoo has really made strides in replicating wildlife habitats. There are things to do in addition to looking at or learning about animals. The roads thru the zoo are shady and there are plenty of benches to take a rest. It was very peaceful on a warm December Sunday. Just what was needed after a very stressful week.
Theyre constantly improving the zoo for consumers and animals alike. Water is a little hard to find/come by as youre walking around and there isnt a clear/easy consumer path to see everything without missing something or having to double back on your tracks. All that aside, the experience is 100% worth it.
Very fun and educational zoo to see the animals and learn about them. Photography is allowed as long as its not flash. Theres gift shops, food, a petting zoo, live educational speakers, etc. Water is 3$ which is practically highway robbery but its to be expected at a zoo. Overall, amazing experience.
Took my 2yr old here for her birthday. Not super crowded and the weather was perfect. We couldnt have asked for a better experience! They have a great and diverse group of animals and way more elephants than i expected to see. The tortoises were SO close to the walk way and they were incredibly cute. The hippos were a mild disappointment, as they were under water the whole time but thats what they do so i cant really complain. My kiddo got to touch a horseshoe crab and starfish and she loved that. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a grand zoo adventure!!
Recently visited this zoo while traveling. Chose Ft. worth Zoo over Dallas because the online reviews were better. The zoo did NOT disappoint. Our family had a great experience. We loved the exhibits, many gave visitors the opportunity to be very close to the animals. The set-up was very family and stroller-friendly. Wish the food court had more options but loved the seating was next to the alligators and fish, it was such a cool “under water” dining experience. The prices in the gift shop were also reasonable...we did buy something and usually we don’t. Will plan to go again on our next visit to the Dallas area. Hope to get to ride the zoo train next time, it looked like fun, our daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it (and the elephants, bears and penguins).
The Fort Worth Zoo never disappoints. We pulled in on a Monday after lunch thinking the crowds would be minimized to see the parking lots full. But once we got in the park it never was crowded feeling. The new giraffe exhibit was amazing and gives you the opportunity to feed them lettuce. We cant wait to see the new elephant exhibit once it is finished.
A great place to see a lot of different animals. It is bigger than I originally thought it would be. I am a member so I go to get my steps in! Half of the zoo is set up like the old west which gives both history and Zoology. The other half is set up like the Africa savanna. Highly recommend this place
They’ve made improvements to this zoo and it’s only getting better. The hippos were always hard to see before but now you can actually view them most times of the day. They added a giraffe feeding area which is pretty awesome but it’s pretty packed. There’s an addition to the elephant area right now. They also have an app that has a map and other zoo information that’s useful.

2022-04-27Was an amazing experience at the Fort Worth Zoo! Went with my mom and my sister and we had so much fun. Theres lots to explore and so much to see even though some of the exhibits were closed due to expanding some of the habitats. We went on a Saturday during nice weather and it was crowded. We rode the train and went to the Stingray area. Saw all the animals that were out and all three of us enjoyed the experience. We will be going back when the other animals are back and would recommend you go enjoy the experience. Before we left we all got cute animal plushies and a back for them to commemorate our time we spent there at the zoo.

2022-06-06I love this zoo. Ive been coming here for 55 years and there always seems to be something different every time Im here. The first time we were here this year was an unpleasant experience, half the exhibits were closed as well as half the restaurants. Plus there really is a lot of construction going on.However, we went back this morning at 9, on a Monday, which I recommend for membership holders. There was no line to get in, there was free water and an orange, the animals were out eating and being active. We got a lot of good pictures. It appears the birds are back on exhibit. And there still is a lot of construction going on however the progress theyre making is very rapid. All the exhibits are top-notch. And those didnt look up to their standards are being improved. Even during the hot summer, if you go on membership Mondays, the shade of the trees and the wind are enough to keep you cool for the most part. Also worth mentioning, the train and Carousel are free on Mondays all day to membership holders as well.

2022-02-03Theres a lot of beauty and a lot to last about mammals, birds, aquatic life, and more. The wild West section is so fun. I loved the flamingos who are there to greet you at the entrance. Ibex are fun to watch scale mountains. Giraffe, leopard, rhino, ostrich, elephant. There are a couple of spots to enjoy air condition and eat.

2022-05-22Truly one of top three zoos in the US.Things are much spacing out and the animals seem freer. We enjoy the layout and the exhibits as well the variety of the animals. The wooden walk board is such a treat.Even though some part of the zoom are under construction, we thought it was really worth the visit and looked forward to coming back when they finish their projects. One cool thing that they give us discount for tickets since have membership from Dallas zoo.Our kids now keep talking about coming back for a visit.

2022-05-04Compared to the San Antonio Zoo, you can tell that they actually truly care about the animals and the scenery here. Once the construction is done, it will be even more beautiful for the public. To all of the people complaining about the parking, you do realize you will even have to walk within the zoo as well. IT IS A ZOO! School field trips, etc etc happens. Get over it.

2022-06-13We spent a good 3 hours here to see all the animals and exhibits. We didnt get to see the big cats like tigers or lion because their exhibit was closed down from construction. It looks like they will be finished in December 2022. So much has changed since we were here as kids. It was a great time!

2021-12-29Great experience here at the zoo. Was a bit crowded due to half Price Wednesday but still overall a good day. Was able to see the baby elephant, Brazos, and plenty of birds, alligators and snakes. We will be back for sure, but will probably wait until the construction on the Africa section is done.

2022-03-11MUST DO in Fort Worth! This zoo has so many amazing enclosures and they offer a very diverse range of animals from all over the world! The greatest flex about this zoo is that you can feed the giraffes 🦒 so you are up close and personal with these beautiful animals- they currently are going through renovations on certain areas, but it’s well worth the money you spend here! I visited with my family and was a wise decision to visit this beautiful Texas landmark ❤️

2022-06-15So for a zoo where it is so hot this place has it figured out. Plenty of trees and areas to get out of the sun (indoor exhibits) and the lay out flows for the most part. Looks like they at this time are under construction and are planning to bring in/back more animals once the exhibits are finished.Only down side to this is I feel with the heat earlier hours would be nice or maybe like later to take advantage of the cooler temps in the evenings.

2022-06-21Great collection of animals. They just had baby elephant 🐘 (Brazos) born. Its absolutely delight to watch him play in water with his parents. Cant wait for their expansion/edition of big cats (apparently 2023!).
