My son has been studying guitar at Franklin Music Academy for about a year. He recently participated in the schools recital, where his instructor Luis informed him that he would be switching to an electric guitar. My son had never played an electric guitar before, but Luis had confidence that he would do fine and he did! He played so well that I went out and purchased a new instrument and asked the school to continue molding my budding musician.Everyone at Franklin is super nice, and thats important to me, but the attention they give their students is what makes us stay. I highly recommend FMA to everyone!
My boys have been working with the instructors at Franklin Music Academy for two years now. We have watched both boys confidence levels soar as they learn to master new musical skills ! J.P. puts so much effort into finding out how each kid learns best. He takes time to get to know the kids, building relationships, and integrating families into the musical community at Franklin. The atmosphere at Franklin Music Academy is warm and inviting. The instruction is rigorous, respectful, and fun. J.P. brings a lot of energy to each lesson. He communicates each childs progress with focus, clarity, and insight.If you are looking for a music school that is nurturing, challenging ,energetic, and committed to teaching the whole child , Franklin Music Academy is the place for you.
I cant say enough positive things about JP and Franklin Music Academy. My son started with group piano lessons and then moved to private piano lessons and he has had a great experience with both. JP has a laid-back, but serious, demeanor and he knows exactly how to interact with his students in a way that is both motivating and fun. He is a talented musician and a gifted teacher. FMAs location and hours are convenient and the price is reasonable. I dont think there is a better music school in all of Austin!
J.P. is a patient and helpful music instructor. I have a child in group piano, one in group guitar and they both really enjoy the classes. The lessons progress at an appropriate pace and I like that he teaches them to read music, not just play. I did a lot of research before signing my children up for music lessons and Franklin Music Academy has been a great fit for our family (location, cost & schedule).
We loved JP and Franklin Music Academy! We moved out of state last fall and wished we could take JP with us. My 5th grade daughter took for over 2 years from him, and she gained so much from her time in lessons and concerts. We are searching here locally for someone on par with what she received through Franklin Music Academy.
Franklin Music Academy is the best independent music school. The teachers here really take their time to teach you the basics and push you to learn more challenging peices with whichever instrument you are learning. If you’re a beginner, or even intermediate in music, you will learn a lot. They teach at your pace which is really helpful, and they have concerts at the end of the season to showcase everything the students have learned. I highly recommend this school if you’re interested in learning or developing your music skills!
My daughter is 10 and has had her share of piano teachers. JP and his staff have definitely taken her to the next level. Irecommend Franklin Music to anyone looking for a personalized approach to music.
The amount of progress I have made here is astounding. They were very kind and tailored to my needs as a musician, even when part of my life took a face-first nose-dive. Not only did my instructor, J.P. Ahmad, make a positive influence on my musical experience, he also made a very influential impact on my perspective in life as a whole. The instructors areprofessional, all with careers in the music and performance business. My overall time spent here was remarkable, and my skills as a musician have skyrocketed as a whole.
Where to begin. Thankful to God for allowing us to find an amazing musical academy that not only has amazing teachers but has helped my daughter grow into her drumming. She started out in a group setting and we now do one on one with Mr. Luis who along with JP the director has pushed her to grow and will continue to grow because we are here for the long haul. They helped her see a different side of music and take it by storm. We also love the homely feel of not only the academy but even all the other families you get to see when there. I can not say enough how grateful we are with not only the teachers but her growth in music and her lessons. But the attention they give each and everyone of there students is what makes this place different and special.❤
My daughter and I are very greatful for J.P. and Shani for creating a friendly and inspiring environment for my family. J.P. is a wonderful and talented instructor. He is very patient and caring towards his students. Audrey has been enrolled in the FMA for 7 years now and has become not only confident in her musical ability, but also her everyday life. We had a wonderful evening last night at Franklin Music Academys Fall Concert/recital! In addition to seeing our son perform, a highlight of the evening was seeing JP, the music teacher, having such a good time and being so enthusiastic to provide an opportunity for children to perform. It is obvious he loves what he does! And because of that, I feel confident his appreciation of music will inspire his students!
I am a General Contractor here in Austin and did a remodel on Shani and JPs master bath in their home. I absolutely love these two people! They were such a pleasure to work with. I was very impressed with Shanis level of professionalism and organization. They are very kind, honest, transparent and just wholesome good people. Although I have not had a relationship with them through the Academy, I did on a more personal level. I just wanted to write a review because if I had a child or anyone looking for music lesson I would 1000% enroll them in Franklin Music Academy and trust them with Shani and JP. You guys rock!
My two boys have been taking clases on Franklin music Academy for almost 5 years with JP. We are lucky to have him.
My daughter started taking the band leader program in January. She works with 3 other girls and is learning guitar, songwriting, and how to function as a 4 piece band. She struggled with learning guitar at first, but with JPs and Carls patience and encouragement she grew and now enjoys learning new chords and new songs. In just 9 months she has learned about 5 songs including cover songs, songs she has written, and songs her bandmates have written. This is a great experience!
What a great experience! JP is a great teacher -- so patient and excited to teach. Weve looked forward to these weekly lessons over the past year and cant wait to continue. Highly recommend!

2022-07-08My son has been taking the piano class at the Franklin Music Academy for the past couple of months and his skills and focus have improved so much. JP is very patient and thinks differently in teaching kids, keeping them focused, and making his classes really enjoyable for the kids. We are very happy with our sons progress from enrolling in the Franklin Music Academy and is highly recommended.

2022-07-13I worked for Franklin Music Academy through college teaching guitar, ukulele and bass. I was blessed to have found an employer that has their employees best intrests in mind.JP and Shani are very caring and want to see not only their students succeed, but their teachers as well. With JP having over 15 years of experience teaching, he is a natural born teacher who continues to hone his craft by constantly asking the question, How do I help my student become a compitent musician? And Shani is everyones best friend. She cares about what the student is needing more of, what parents are asking for/looking for, and how the teachers are doing/if the teachers are being fulfilled.Franklin Music Academy was the perfect job that a college student could have. They were willing to work around my school schedule and gave me the ability to chose my own hours. They also let me to teach my students the way that I believe my students needed to be taught only jumping in with new tools when I asked for help.If you are looking for a Music Academy that really cares about its students you have found it. If you are a teacher looking to hone your skills, apply.You will not be disappointed.

2022-07-10I highly recommend Franklin Music School for anyone looking for a music classes. Our 7 year old has been playing ukulele for several months now with JP. I am so impressed with how much she has learned in such a short amount of time!

2022-03-30JP works so wonderfully with my son and makes learning piano fun for him. I was nervous that he would get frustrated learning something new, but instead, his passion is growing and loves when we get to come to lessons. Not to mention how quickly he is learning!!

2021-06-17Franklin Music Academy is the best music school In Austin. JP and the other teachers are passionate about teaching and you will be amazed by the results. You will notice progress at every session. He will work one on one with the kids and at their pace. You will also notice the kids enjoy going to his classes. This is one of the best investments in your child. I highly recommend!

2021-06-09Ours children have been students of Franklin Music Academy for 3 years. Their instructors (JP and Jesse) are incredible and our children have progressed so much under their instruction. Most importantly, they have fun every lesson and are enjoying playing music at home. We feel blessed to have found Franklin Music Academy. Highly recommended!

2018-12-06The atmosphere and energy of the Franklin Music Academy is warm, welcoming and upbeat. This is really important for younger learners, especially younger and shy learners like our 12-year daughter, who has now been learning from co-owner and main teacher JP for over a year now. Our daughter has musically (piano) thrived under his guidance. Although she only sees JP once a week, in just a few months of starting she was playing songs that we enjoyed listening to and could sincerely compliment her on. JP’s genuine straight up enthusiasm for and skill in teaching accounts for no small part of her growth. It was also JP’s openness to teaching our daughter scores that were of interest to her personally, that she chose, that I think helped motivate her to get through the challenge of mastering the scales (a point where some kids give up because they don’t want to do the hard work). I am sure there are many fine (piano) teachers in south Austin, but for the above reasons alone, the Franklin Music Academy and its teachers (who offer lessons in many other instruments), merit your checking them out.

2019-05-12I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to come here to give JP and his music school five stars! He is very professional, very knowledgeable, super nice, super funny, inspiring, encouraging, and great with kids! My son has gained so much since we switched piano teacher to JP! We love his choice of music, his unique rewarding chart, his clear homework instructions after every lesson, and even his electronic billing system! My son loves practicing piano at home now! And he recently just played piano on his school’s talent show and he impressed everyone! We feel so lucky that we have found Frankly Music School and JP!
