I have always passed by and wanted to stop by, Im so upset I havent gone by earlier! I believe the owner was serving us really nice lady. We had a few beers and bratwurst. Bratwurst is definitely something to eat with beer. Will definitely make this a place of mine to go regularly from now on. Small pub, good staff, good food.
I haven’t had schnitzel this good since my trip to Germany. Various styles and types of schnitzel, brats, and currywurst as well as a couple of seafood platters. Excellent assortment of German beer on draft and in the bottle. A few German wines as too. Prices are extremely reasonable!!!!! We were offered the Valentine’s Day special: two pints of our choice, an appetizer to share, two entrees, and two desserts for $29.00. I couldn’t buy all that at the store for that much. Service was good even though the waitress was by herself for most of the evening. Would have been a five star except for that. This spot is a “do NOT miss” in my book!
I just walked in there for a drink and food @ 5:50PM, 3-11-2022. The girl asked me what I would like at the bar, I replied Id like a Jack and Coke and before I even finished adding and a menu. This niña walked away and went to another table to take their order. Wow, mkay, .... If you didnt want me to order, you couldve said so. After 2mins, I walked out. Discriminating at its best. SMFH 🙄😒🤦🏽♀️, and yes Ive been here before many months ago and had no problem.
First time eating at the German Pub, server helped in recommending the dishes for our taste bud pleasures. It was a perfect combination of food and variety of German beer. German military personnel and their families were dinning there, so you know that the food has to be really good! We will be back to try other dishes on their menu!
Mmmm, yum yum yum! Freaking delicious food! I got the Schnitzel-sandwich it was so yummy (in case you didn’t get the hint before haha) Great service our waitress was awesome I seriously can’t wait to go back! Beer amazing! Love this place and I can’t wait to go back!!
Amazing food, with great service and an awesome atmosphere. Im not german, so I cant speak to its authenticity, but I will testify to its deliciousness. The fries might be the best fries Ive always had. The potato pancakes, too, are so understated! If you stop in give them a try!!!
The food here used to be so good, they have definitely lost their way with quality and freshness! It seems like everything here was frozen and reheated. Jäger sauce tasted like an ashtray, almost like it was burnt or just sat heating in the back too long. The made fresh strudel was microwaved and soggy. At least they have draft German beer...
The German beer and other spirits are excellent and they allow you to purchase growlers. Now the bad news...the quality of their food does not match their beer selection. Everything is pre made or previously frozen. For the prices of the menu items, I expect a better dining experience. It is quick bar food instead of freshly prepared meals.
Ive always been a fan of German food, have lived in Germany, and my wife is German. German Pub has the best Schnitzel Ive had in the US, period. Everything else Ive had from the menu has been great, as well. This is one of our favorite restaurants in El Paso.I grew up in El Paso and have seen several German places close, including the Kantin on Fort Bliss and Günthers Edelweiss. I hope German Pub sticks around!
Excellent experience, the talented young lady who served us (Selena) had a fun personality and the food was outstanding. I lived in Germany for 6 years and I felt as though I was back there again. Strongly suggest if you want great German food, the German pub is the place to visit.
So perfect for a carry out order. I ordered a schnitzel, Hunter style, cucumber salad and an apple strudel. When I got to the hotel and opened the box I was surprised to see that I didnt get it Hunter style. Ha, the put the mushroom gravy in a separate container. PERFECT!!! No soggy schnitzel. I was so happy to see that. Everything was spot on. My only complaint is they didnt have spatzle. How can you serve schnitzel without spatzle? Its okay. I still loved it. Id give 10 stars if I could
So this place is actually a favorite for a friend and myself to get a drink and eat. Everything Ive tried so far I have enjoyed and they really do have a great selection of German beer (obviously). Their bratwurst and wiener schnitzel are extremely good and they tend to be very generous portion sizes as well. Finally the service here has always been great. The waitresses and bartenders here have been nothing less of attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is always super chill and relaxed Whenever Im on the east side of town I do usually make the effort to swing by since it is that good.
Craving a taste of Germany but cant get there because of the pandemic, fear of flying or simply dont have the funds for traveling?Go ahead and give this place a try, it might either soothe your Fernweh or fan the flames of homesickness even more!We love the German Pub for its (mostly) pretty authentic German food. The beer selection isnt bad either.May we just suggest to offer a little better non-alcoholic German selection for the under 18-year-olds?Mineralwasser = simply sparkling water - even though the club soda comes close enough, just please offer it on your menu. Then Apfelschorle is STANDARD(!) in any German restaurant:Pure apple juice mixed with sparkling water. No nasty sugar-loaded sodas but still something sweet for your little ones.
I had been really excited to try this place. My family and I recently came back from living in Europe for three years, where we ate a lot of German food and we couldn’t wait to get something familiar and delicious! Kudos on the potato salad, it’s the real deal, the potatoes are on the firm side just like they are made in Germany. The schnitzel is on point, the breading is perfect and the thickness of the cutlet is great. I am not giving this five stars because the gravy for the Jager schnitzel is not right. The flavor is bland and unfortunately barely measures up to the tourist trap type restaurants we visited in Germany. It’s definitely got potential for improvement though. Next time I would just play it safe and go with a Weiner schnitzel. Would still recommend this place though, especially for El Paso!
Decent German beer selection. Had the Jaegerschnitzel which had unfortunately been Americanized by using a Wiener Schnitzel and just adding mushroom sauce. Not bad, not great. Schnitzel itself was too thick and was obviously not house made, but from a food service company. Service was absolutely outstanding. Great place to get a drink, food is probably not worth coming for until they start to make it from scratch themselves.
While place has a much larger menu than the other German places in town the food is no better than the rest. The schnitzel is good but the pommes were cold and tasted like industrial cleaner even when covered with mushroom gravy. Unless you live nearby not really worth it.
A friend and I went for a beer and found the atmosphere inviting and intimate. The waitress was wonderful and brought us small samples of two German beers on tap, since we weren’t sure what to order. We loved the blood orange beer! I also ordered a slice of Black Forest cheesecake and it was incredible! I highly recommend this place.
The past 2 times Ive been there the waitresses were not very knowledgeable...one didnt know what home fries (on the menu) were and the second was clueless about some items on the menu. The food is ok but honestly the food at the linder haus on dyer and hondo pass is a lot better and the staff know whats on their menu...
Had a blast here. First time here and felt like family and the food was great. I have had schnitzel in Germany and this was almost exactly like I remembered it from there. The pretzels and cheese was beyond amazing. We even had a guy with us that his family moved here from Germany and he goes back there alot and he said it was good
This place is AWESOME! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and has a good sized patio. Great selection of beer and the food is the most top notch German food Ive eaten other than my Omas. I always order the bratwurst and German potato salad with a few German pickles on the side.
As usual, LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! Cant go wrong!!!Used to feel that way 5 years ago. Now its horrible. Food is not authentic. Food is served cold. Poor quality of beer selection, not like it used to have. Use to be the go to place for REAL German food, beer and atmosphere. I heard Marco no longer owns it?! Shame! Now its just another wanna be bar in El Paso, TX. Or as someone stated a Germexican place. My 4 stars went to 1. If I could youd get half a star.
Good German food and a variety of Ales available, as well as your local U.S. favourites. Very relaxed family atmosphere, although the music was neither a Traditional German style, nor one I cared to listen too. Fortunately not loud enough to where I was able to block it out, and still enjoy my meals.
Food was amazing! Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for my mothers 60th and it was perfect. We pre ordered the I love Germany platter for the entire party, food was exceptional and affordable. Staff is super friendly and catered to our every need. Couldnt have picked a better place to celebrate with friends and family.
Amazing food! Very authentic. Their food is the same as what you would find in Deutschland. They also carry a number of German brews and liquors on hand to make it a great all around experience. The owners are amazing and engage with their guests. If I could I would would rate them 10 stars!
Excellent German cuisine. I recently visited Munich and wanted to see if this place could compare. The Bavarian potato salad was flawless. I had a large bratwurst with sauerkraut and my wife had the schnitzel. Everything exceeded my standards for a west Texas German joint. The adult beverages were on point as well. 5 stars.
This place is AMAZING! Ive never had German food before and this place did not disappoint. The staff is very knowledgeable about the food and drinks and can answer and questions you have about the menu. Each month they have local art vendors participate in monthly events. Its a great time.
Went after reading the good reviews. Racist place. If youre dark they dont care about you. $9.50 sausages appetizer plate that was a joke. The waiter was rude and even took our menus after we order the pitty appetizer. So what about my dinner?? Had to return my Margarita, the taste was like tap water, Really, a big cup with salt and tap water. What a waste of money. Dont even bother.
I love this little pub. They are ALWAYS friendly and the beer choices are beyond excellent. They have REAL German beers, Real German food and REAL GERMAN MUSTARD on the table. I was surprised when my food came out cold BUT they fixed it immediately and apologized and the meal was outstanding. Please visit this place and get your German food/beer fix!!.YUMM-O
Im about a month late on posting. A month ago we made a reservation for 20 people. It was my mother-in-laws 60th bday. Staff was AMAZING and so was the food, thank you Hilda! John is the manager and he was very attentive so was our waitresses. I would definitely recommend this place for a party and give them a few days or weeks heads up. I told them a month in advance. Everyone there had a great time!!Thank you guys so much!!!
I visited this place when it first opened a few years ago. The food was not good at all. Over the years, Ive eaten from their food truck and thought okay theyve gotten better. Its always hard to really have it all together when an establishment first opens. Well, my husband and I decided to try the restaurant again and I was blown away. We dont have many German restaurants in EP so its nice to finally have one that I can say the food is actually good. My husband who is from Germany said the food tastes just like a good quality restaurant back home. And I agree! The schnitzels we ordered were cooked to perfection. Light and crips on the outside, tender on the inside. Both potato salads they serve were amazing. I couldnt pick a favorite. We ordered potato pancakes and didnt mind the wait to get them at all because they were being made to order. The service we received was top notch. But the star of the meal was the Spätzle with gravy. Who knew those soft noodles could taste so good and steal the spotlight?! I am so glad we decided to give this place another try. If you decide to eat there, dont pass up the desserts. Their black forest cheesecake is out of this world. For about an hour that we were there, it felt like we were back in Germany.
Had to get the attention of the only bartender/waitress as she was busy talking with the 3 older men at the bar with her.She obviously didnt think I was old enough for a drink and it didnt even cross her mind that I simply wanted to order a beer. It felt like it was an inconvenience to her for me just to ask.The food was fine but far from excellent.Would be more inclined to visit again if the service was a little better.
Worst service ever. I wish I would have tried the beer and food. I was really looking forward to it but they had me sitting there for about 15 minutes without offering me anything or giving me a menu. The place is small, wasn’t packedand I sat myself. The waitress said “Ill be right with you” so I waited. A big table came in and sat next to me and she gave them menus, asked what they wanted, and started giving them their drinks and even beer tastes and she couldn’t even offer me a water. I just stood up and left. Horrible experience, never coming back.
I had no idea how much I was craving good German food. Here in El Paso I usually am on the lookout for the best Mexican food. My favorite dining experience this time was found here, at the German Pub. I also struggle with not having a healthy appetite when I travel but the German Pub cured me of that this vacation. Jägerschnitzel, potato salad, sauerkraut, and a Paulaner Octoberfest made me a very happy camper. Then came the German cheesecake... Omg I hope I can return someday for more.
Overall it was a nice experience. I went with three of my friends who had never eaten German food before and they all had the I love Germany plate and thought the jägerschnitzel was to die for and they loved the German potato salad but all the würst was pretty uneventful. I had the Quarttro plate and was pretty disappointed. They placed five würst around the rim of a large plate and it looked cold and sad and unappetizing. And some of them were cold. My Nurenbuger würst looked and tasted microwaved. I lived in Germany for thirteen years with my German husband and I know good German food. Maybe Ill try again later. My wine though, almost made me cry. It was as I remembered. Delicious!!! If you like a fruity sweet white wine. Riesling Spätelese is the wine you want. So so good. Enjoy
I was not expecting much and I admit I am not an expert on German food. However, the food was simple and well prepared; the beer selection impressive; and the kids meals were honest to goodness straight forward fare unlike the nuggets and fries garbage served elsewhere.
Will never come back. All four meals were so over cooked that were inedible. They said they would discount the meals. They didn’t even offer to recook them. Got the bill and each meal was discounted a whopping .90 cents. Huge joke and slap in the face. Don’t bother eating here.
Waitress very friendly! Food was absolutely horrible! Hardly any customers, yet we had to wait quite some time to receive our food! Schnitzel was paper thin and cooked to the perfection of a jerky, had a hard time cutting it with the knife! German potato salad tasted like potato salad from a can! Bread ordered was sliced French Bread with butter that was so hard it was not spreadable! Everything at a separate cost! Schnitzel in Germany is usually served with Pommes, Spätzle etc., Salat and usually accompanied by some German bread! $45 wasted on food that was horrible! Have come to the conclusion that Underwood Golf Course still serves the best Schnitzel on Thursdays in town after all! Draw back, unfriendly waitress!
Terrific place to bring the family, spend time with friends or to relax with a nice cool beer after a stressful day from work. Been visiting German Pub before their new location and have to say the the food, management and staff is the reason i continue to go back. Keep up the great work!
The atmmosphere is GREAT while I waited. The food was Horrible, the worse German food EVER!!! My order to go was A Jager Schnitzel Dinner, Cheesecake, Currywurst w/ French Fries. The schntzel was small, tough , taseless. A real disappointment, the cheesecake wasnt the typical German cheesecake. A wasted $27.00 , no one liked the food.
I have no idea how this restaurant gets that many stars...we went there yesterday and me as a German from Bavaria had to fight with my upsad stumic...My husband ordered Currywurst, witch he got served with a tiny tiny amount of fries, and the sauce is just a spice sauce but never really a currywurst sauce...They forgot our appetizers,my Leberkäs with eggs was not really a burner as well...had to ask if they could cook my eggs a little more...The waitress told us she never eight German food but I think she cooked ours...yea...great...We all still tried to be nice and I thought maybe they need some helpful advice,I told them if they use regular ketchup and spice it up with curry powder,it would taste so much better and they would save money as well then paying for some ugly spiced sauce...After the waitress walked back to the kitchen,a other lady walked out (assuming one of the owners),she passed us and looked at me very mad, when we left she was sitting outside smoking and starred at me like she wishes lightning would hit me...A real Bavarian would walked to me and talked about it lol ;)But this one was all butt hurt...oh well to bad...Oh and the beer is almost 7.00$ just for one bottle...you can get a 6 pack of German beer (and yes even paulaner) in El Paso waycheaper!-So if I put it together:-To expensive for the portions you get-Not so much good food-Owner very easy butt hurt-Waitress never had German food nor tried some in the restaurant where she works but she cooks it...
The food is great. But the guy who bartends with the beard and baseball cap is rude as hell. You cant play no music or watch what you want because he is watching T.V or flirting with the blonde waitress. He gets annoyed when you ask him for anything else (which you shouldnt have to since it is his job) when he is not watching tv he is texting. The waitress with blonde hair is a complete idiot and messes up orders. The nasty part that got me is when the bartender spanks the waitress with the cleaning rag and the wipes down tables. If there was new employees that would act professional and give great customer service we all would be back. Sorry but the service sucks!!!
Went there the other day and ordered a curry wurst with fries and I got less than a hand full of cold French fries my 16 month old daughter had more fries with her chicken nuggets...not very impressed with my first visit there...The curry wurst sauce was just nasty stuff...I lived in Germany for many years and have a German wife and family,Ive been to other places in Germany, every place from north to the south, from east to west, but I never ever had such nasty sauce in my currywurst...

2021-10-26Awesome place! Got the Weihenstephaner Dark beer which is very sweet. German beer would not be what you would expect it to be. It’s not like a stout, it’s delicious dear! The customer service is above and beyond I would definitely come back here!

2021-09-14Went in to try the Schnitzel, I ordered the Rahm Schnitzel (they have 4 variations). The best part is that on Monday its only $4.99 for what you see pictured.....of course I had to try one of their German beers so I had the Hefeweizen. Ill be back to try the other schnitzels soon and some of the other beers.

2021-10-12First time in this place and it was fun! It was Friday and it was kinda slow. The environment was nice and the waitress was awesome! The music selection is great it has the touchtunes jukebox. I wanted to try a German fruity beer and she served me some German Grapefruit one in the tall glass. It was very refreshing! I also ordered a glass of Dornfelder wine it was very good as well. $$ pricing , but the environment and staff make it worth it. I will definitely be back!!

2022-03-20First off the service is top notch. You get attended to by friendly bar staff. It truly is like a pub. The beer selection is amazing if you love German beer! The food is what me and boys go for. Served up hot. I get the Rahm snitzel with red cabbage. If Im with more people I get the sampler of their sausages, frankfurter, and brats with sauerkraut. Dont forget to ask for mustard.

2021-05-29I had a late lunch at the German Pub with my wife and another couple and we had a great time! Great quality German food, beer, and service. All were on point! My wife and I both got schnitzel. My wife had a side of German salad while I got sides of red cabbage and spatzel. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside and lightly coated with a light gravy. The sides were delicious and were wonderful accompaniment to the schnitzel. The red cabbage had a mild sweetness and a perfect spice level. The spatzel was tender but not mushy with a nice brown gravy. All of the meals were served within an acceptable time by an attentive, entertaining hostess and all were generous portions. The hostess was well informed about the food and beer and made good suggestions. There were several German beers on tap as well as a large selection bottled beer. There were also non-beer beverage options. The food and beer were enjoyed in a very comfortable ambiance and made for a delightful, unhurried lunch. If you are looking for something a little different, you should give the German Pub a try!

2020-08-21Excellent selection of German beers. Food is great. These are the same people that ran the German Club on Ft Bliss. Staff is very friendly and prompt. Selena the daytime bartender/server is the best.

2022-06-23I was looking for a comfortable setting to have some lounge, drink and chat with friends. The menu is lacking, and the pub is small. Atmosphere is quaint.
