Gorditas sliders are excellent. Highly recommend. Always been a great place to stop by to eat when Im in the area. Never disappointed. The only criticism is one person, guess manager, was annoyingly loud when she was greeting customers . Guess she was having a good time. Regardless, will visit again.
One of the best Mexican food restaurants. I used to eat there about once a week when I worked downtown. They are geared towards a heavy lunch crowd and close during the week at 6:00 p.m. The food has always been well prepared and the service has been congenial and fast.
After picking up a deliver from here, I decided to go back and grab lunch. The entrees werent too bad, but those chips and queso my dude! Those chips and queso though!! AMAZING! I ate there two days in a row, would have been three but the are closed on Sundays. My waistline was glad about that.
Horrible service.waiter never came to ask us if we needed a refill...food was not good. The meat in the taco was hard and tastelessThe meat in the chili con carne was nervy and tough. Not good at all.i could understand if the restaurant was busy, but sad to say we were the only ones there...I guess the waiter was to busy talking with the other co workers.
Ate here with my family and had a great time. My wife thought her enchiladas were very good and I really enjoyed my chili reño and tacos. Our kids are pretty picky eaters but enjoyed the food as well. We got margaritas at the suggestion of my uncle and thought they were the highlight of the evening. We will definitely be going back to G&R!
The prices were reasonable, the service was great. The food, on the other hand, was simply delicious!!! I had chicken tacos and the shells were the lightest I have ever had, and this is my typical order at most Mexican restaurants. The salsa was scrumptious, and carefully watched by our waiter who brought us refills twice with out being asked. My husband was equally impressed with his chile rellenos. Dont miss this opportunity for a wonderful meal.
I got some kind of chocolate flan cake for dessert and it was simply exquisite. I wish I had taken a picture of it! It was flan on top and a moist milky chocolate cake on the bottom. I am just visiting town for a few days but I might go back for more of this cake because it was just that good. I also got enchiladas for dinner and they were good too.
The food and service were great. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere, although we were there after the lunch rush. This was always one of my favorite places when I was in college. I hadnt been there for years but I stopped in for a late lunch with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. There is a reason why this place has been around for almost sixty years. Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. What more could you want?
Ive eaten plenty of tacos in my life, in many states (including different parts of Texas), and this place takes the lead by far! The most amazing tacos Ive ever had! People say I can cook, and should open my own restaurant. Not with this restaurant around. They are killing the game. Whenever I get in the mood for tacos, this place is exactly where Im getting them from. Absolutely delicious, and very fulfilling.
Ive been coming here since my dad first took me... 40 years ago? It cant be that long, can it???The food hasnt changed much over the years. Good food shouldnt. This is authentic West Texas Mexican food, folks!Did I mention the classic lime Margaritas? No??? If you like an authentic classic Margarita THIS is one of but three places in town (that I personally know of) that still does it the old way.Today I brought a friend whom has never been. He says hes bringing his wife over for dinner soon!
Had an excellent time, for my first of surely many times to come dining here... The staff were great and friendly, the food was wonderful. The owner (its a family owned establishment) was even walking around, greeting guests and asking how everything was - I didnt know she was the owner until later: needless to say, I was super impressed!!
Food was not very good no one else was at restaurant early morning around 10 am. Took awhile before anyone came up to seat us. Once we got seated server took forever to come back. We finally got food and my enchiladas were not great. Then lady who might have been owner was on phone with a personal call and was so loud made our experience worse!
I seldom give anywhere 5 stars on the first visit, but this is an exception. Some if the highest quality and finest Mexican Ive had anywhere. Keep in mind this is NOT Texmex, so if you are expecting chuys go elsewhere. This is authentic Mexican in a rustic setting. Enjoy.
I just had lunch here with my two sisters. Everybody had a delicious lunch combination plates were filling and piping hot. The chile relleno, taco and enchilada were as good as it gets. Even the chips and salsa were addicting. Service was ok, because of the lunch rush. Need to come back soon. 👍
We got there at 7:30 PM on a Saturday and already knew what we wanted. Tacos al pastor for both of us. Our food finally got to the table at 8:15. The tortillas were stale and burnt. They put the carne on the side that was burned to cover it up I guess. My rice was stale... It was shrunken and dry to where it looked like plastic on my plate. The serving size was small. Our beans came about 10 mins later and those were undercooked as well. The meat itself was ok. It was a bit stretchy and for as long as it took to come i was expecting more.
Decided to give this place a try for breakfast, I was so disappointed. The service was bad, it seemed they had just opened and were not prepared. The food was tasteless, ordered eggs and chorizo and they left the plastic cover on chorizo, ugh. The coffee cold as well as the food. I used to come here many years ago and food was great, too bad.
I walked in and was the 2nd person there, i wasnt attended so i went to sit down, the server saw me and I assumed that he was going to attend me next but he didnt, then someone else walked in and was attended right away and i still wasnt being attended so i had to get up and get a menu for myself, then i was attended. My pancakes looked undercooked and the hash browns were SUPER oily. Gross food. Never going back
Went here for our anniversary and when I needed a box they said they did not have any and gave me a plate and foil. Next thing after wrapping my food I see the waiter walk by with to go boxes. Was not very attentive and it wasnt even full. It was us and 2 other tables.
Its disappointing in a way, that being a mexican restaurant, they dont offer comida corrida, as well to music to enjoy as we eat..its silent all you really hear is the people talking around you, music should be played, its just not festive and not enjoyable to eat in complete silence or hear others just talk around you... I recommend that music should be played..it is a mexican restaurant
If I could give zero stars I would...went for lunch, very slow service to take our orders. Then 12:35 and we had no food yet we asked if it would be any longer because we had an hour for lunch and they said they still had 2 tables before us. At 12:45 we walked out hungry and pissed. Never going back

2021-09-02The food is fabulous. The place decor is cozy, colorful and charming. I love their comfortable chairs, and a soothing fountain in center of restaurant. I cant forget to add a Great bar in back which offers delicious Margaritas and other beverages of choice. They offer the best staff, sweet and attentive 100%. I have held several private parties here because the food is Authentic Mexican food ans Patty (owner) is insanely kind and accomodating.

2022-05-18Have been a loyal customer of this excellent restaurant for over 45 years and have never been disappointed. Still as good as ever and the service and staff always great.Had the #11 today, a chile con queso smothered hamburger steak. Absolutely perfect. Brother had his usual, a #21, a solid combination plate when you want a little of everything.

2021-03-29Loved the food during my first visit to El Paso! Nice to eat fresh when traveling. My limited Spanish meant they switched servers but the young man was super friendly. Great portions.

2022-04-28We went to this restaurant yesterday and had a very bad experience. The service from the waitress was horrible. We got our food and no one ever went to see if we needed any refills on our drinks. She never even came to give us our bill, we had to stand up near the cashier for her to come up and give the bill to the cashier for us to pay. Unfortunately, we left with a sour taste in our mouth and will certainly not be back.

2019-12-21An El Paso staple. Festive atmosphere. Kid friendly. Wheelchair accessible. Wait staff are regulars, nice to see the same faces again and again. Food is always yummy. Authentic. Parking lot is small but you can find parking on the street. Located downtown. 🌮🌮
