Overpriced everything, might as well shop at nordstrom rack. Old overused nike / adidas for $13, jackets for $29.99 as well as shoes. They are obviously only caring about themselves here and not about helping the community. Will never go back here. Please donate to another location and not this one.
I used to find a lot more scores at this location, however my recent visits have left me empty handed. The prices are higher, possibly because its in a nice neighborhood. I once saw a bread maker I would have purchased any other time that was in really good shape- but it was full retail price, so I felt like Id rather get a new one from Amazon, knowing it would work for sure. I always think Ill find nicer clothes here, but theyre just the same as any other Goodwill.
This Goodwill is great for auctions. They usually have pretty good stuff since the surrounding area is pretty nice. But that also means that sometimes the items can go for higher prices. It isnt the best Goodwill if youre trying to get stuff really cheap. Ive noticed that most stuff is a little on the pricey side, but everything Ive gotten here has been pretty nice. Overall, I would recommend if its on your way. Its a really small one, so its probably not worth going out of your way for.
Bought & paid for something from this location online on the 11th, had to call on the 17th after sending 2 emails that got ignored after their stated 5 day shipping time had passed to see when it would be shipped and after talking to the manager on duty she said it would go out that day. Sure enough it was marked as shipped on the 17th. To bad it took another 6 days to hit the distribution center. Thats a 12 day shipping time not a 5 day. Very poor customer service. And for clarity I didnt purchase a crystal piano, it was some scrap gold. A small envelope. Print Label. Tape label. Put in outgoing mail. Done. 5 mins.
Ive been shopping this location for the last 14 years and its so sad how much it has changed. Stopped going there for many years because I moved to another area of town but started coming back again recently. I noticed how overpriced the items were in comparison to purchasing new from places like Target, Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Homegoods. Even more expensive at this location for items that would have been 20-50% less than those places. To top it off, I was given attitude for the fact that I consistently kept asking why multiple items were so overpriced. I inquired about their pricing process and recommended that they may educate their pricers on their jobs but of course they knew better. I felt so uncomfortable there today that I highly doubt I will be returning any time soon. I had items to donate so I will take them to another thrift store instead... I also found it interesting that I had a few recent conversations with a couple of other tenured employees who agreed with the overpricing but everyone today was so rude and condescending. As for a good Goodwill, Ive visited the Oak Hill location a few times recently and wow, such nice people and staff. And not such ridiculous prices. Good luck Lake Austin Goodwill, as smart consumers we are aware and the horrible service and attitudes dont help your situation!Only Edit is following response to whoever responded to this review:I have over 2 decades of retail experience working in many different industries and unfortunately I would be cautious in verbalizing what knowledge you have about how organizations like TJ Maxx distribute their earnings. Just like any business, they pay employees (who are properly trained) and rent, etc. Keeping any logic in mind, you would know that not $10 out of $10 spent is profit. Every retail organization has some sort of overhead cost wether they have a brick and mortar or not.My retail experience has varied from stock work all the way to an executive sales level. I have also been thrifting since I was 6 years old so the thrifting environment is not new to me. With that said, I did not appreciate getting berated by one of your other customers who was miscommunicated of my experience with you. Honest constructive criticism is the core of opportunities for improvement for an organization. Your employees should not be telling customers about getting yelled at by upper management. Professionalism can be fostered through proper training and quite frankly, an organization like goodwill should easily be able to afford this. You dont have to source your inventory (yes, you supplement it with some new inexpensive dollar store quality product so you have some cross selling opportunities) and that should save plenty considering your product is delivered to you by donations. No gas, transportation, shipping, insurance or employee costs to get a large amount of your product. Please just keep in mind that you are on the forefront of this world of accessible knowledge. Consumers are so much more educated and conscious of where they spend and donate to.
Fun and friendly staff. The Staff speaks to everyone. Its a hit or miss thyp of resale shop however. Every time i visit this Goodwill location it as if Im at a upscale resale consignment Boutique. Before you shop resale in Austin...make this your First Stop...my Neiman Marcus cashmere sweater was only $5.99 my RL Cashmere Overcoat was only $24.00 exllecent mens wear department ...smaller then your average Goodwill...but worth your first Saturday morning resale tour...Happi Resale-ing 🐺
I asked a employee why is it so hot. He said the store has been like that for years. That as long as the manager has ac in the office that is all that matters. But the store is hot. 9-7-19 all items are donated for them to sell. There is definitely money to get it fixed.
This is generally clean and well organized as far as Goodwills go, but everything seems to be priced a little too high and Ive never found anything spectacular here. I almost always walk out empty handed. Parking can also be a little crazy since it shares a lot with Maudies.
This is my favorite spot for treasure hunting which Ive found great deals for years. However, it seemed thst, with new management, the arrangement isnt as good and selections seemed limited, and plus the prices on some items have gone up about 50%. From what Ive seen, there were less customers than before.
Saddest thing ever. I went to donate some balls and even asked, can yall sell balls? his reply, do you want a receipt? I said, no and just gave him all the balls (balls my daughter loved playing with but I didnt have room in the house for). As I pull away I see them taking a knife to the balls and popping all of them! I was so sad! I could have given them to some children in the park or a church or something better than watching them be slashed! Very cruel. Also I have often visited the inside to be very disappointed. The prices are almost the same as if you were to buy new. It is very near a nice neighborhood so you might think it would be a good goodwill. But it really isnt. The better one is in West Lake called GW by goodwill.
This was an absolutely terrible experience for me. The shift manager explained to me her methamphetamine woes, and how her boyfriend cheated on her with a skinny chick, while I was cleaning and arranging every possible item for community service. Apparently she never filed any of the paperwork for a day or two from my time performing community service, and I had to walk back in a year later after I thought all of this terribleness was behind me. The only day I had guaranteed work was July 4th. I was treated like the one who is not a leper among a sea of lepers. I recommend you buy expired boutique clothing or that key 1991 microwave elsewhere.
Although I have had more consistent success at the Goodwill boutiques around Austin, this place will always surprise me on occasion. I have found brand new Nike Prestos, North Face trail runners, Lacoste, Royal Robbins, etc., but it was only because I am persistent. This is not the stores fault, but I wish the internet around that area wasnt so awful. Overall, fun place to shop, and who knows, you might get super lucky.
This good will is probably one of the best ones in austin. They have an auction every Saturday @ 1:00 that gets real good and they have good stuff in store for a good price. The employees are a bit rude but other than that they are good better than the one on 1015 Norwood Park Blvd, Austin, TX 78753

2021-02-08Parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon. Store customers and workers were mrasked and well spaced. Found a couple of clothing items and appreciate being able to return them within 7 days for store credit if I need to.

2021-04-13I used to love this goodwill! One manager was always so good about making people wear masks. But thats my bad, I forgot the pandemic is over!! Half the customers are not wearing masks and a person on the staff is walking around with no mask. 👍👍👍

2020-10-04Extremely disappointed by Goodwill. I purchased 3 pairs of jeans this afternoon. While checking out, I asked the cashier about the stores return policy, given that the store had closed all fitting rooms presumably due to COVID-19. The cashier told me that the stores return policy was more flexible now and that as long as I returned the jeans within 10 days with a receipt and tags attached, I would be good. This evening - just a few hours after purchasing - I returned the jeans after having a chance to try them on at home. Even though I returned the jeans with a receipt and all tags attached, the manager could only give me an in-store credit via a gift card. I expected a cash refund since I had paid for the jeans in cash. I explained that I was frustrated by this given that there were no fitting rooms open to try on the jeans prior to purchasing and that my cashier had ensured me the stores return policy was more flexible now. The manager, Kirk, told me there were no other options. If the store is not going to let people try on clothing before purchasing, they should at least offer refunds on the products that dont work out for people once they get a chance to try on at home. Now I am stuck with an in-store credit for a store I hardly ever go to - or now even want to go to again.

2021-04-20Went here today and 2 employees on the floor were not wearing masks. Not even wearing them wrong, just no mask at all. I asked one when she checked me out if she could put one on please and she said she didn’t have one with attitude. This is senior day! It is not appropriate to be less than 2 feet from another person right now with no mask on! I will not be returning to this location.

2021-01-19I spent almost $500 on clothes at this store last Sunday January 17th. You would think the return policy would be a little more flexible being that you can not try anything on because of covid.. this store does have a lot of good expensive brands which I loved hence the two stars but the manager Kirk? I believe was his name apparently had been following my husband and I around and staring as we had an overfilled cart. I did not notice until my husband asked him what his problem was and why he was following and staring at us and his response was that hes just doing his job!!?? Completely unacceptable! If I had not spent so much time I wouldnt have spent a dollar in that store! As much as I love thrift shopping and liked the inventory at this particular Goodwill, I just dont think I will be going back unless I hear back that this man has been demoted as well as retrained on what exactly customer service isand how to treat guests spending quite a bit of money all in one day of shopping or for that matter any guest spending any amount of money because that is his job, to make customers feel welcome and appreciated and what exactly does he mean by following and staring at us like we were some sort of goodwill high jackers and saying thats him doing his job??? Is he admitting that he thinks were thiefs and he is behaving like hes loss prevention or showing us that he is watching to prevent a just in case illegal act on our behalf? I have never seen a retail manager behave this way and down right admit it with no shame. He clearly does not care about the reputation of the company and needs to be looked into by upper management in my opinion. Im seriously debating returning all of these clothes and selling the gift card or at least using it at the store I frequent (Cedar Park on Bell) where I have never seen an employee or manager behave this way in the 13 years I have been shopping there! I havent even seen a volunteer behave in such a way! I can see that I am not the first to complain on this man so I really hope something is done about this mans behavior! Thanks for putting people to work is the quote right? Well I do not feel good about being a part in helping this man remain employed with a manager title and I did not like the way he stood around and talked to his staff either but Ill leave this as it is and hope it makes a difference if not for me at least for someone unknowing and undeserving of such treatment and judgment. Have a blessed day everyone!

2021-04-29I have been to four Goodwills in a few days, and despite this one being the smallest, I had more success here than anywhere else. AND, crucially, everyone (including employees!!) was fully masked!

2021-11-14Small, cramped store. Good luck to find a full body mirrors (?!). The bathroom was very dirty, with no toilet paper or paper towels.
