I hope managers see this. The employees are out of control as they are all friends with the reseller familys. The reseller family take all the carts and horde them all day. Other cities they make it be one cart per adult and dont let you use all day. They let them push and shove and literally scoop all the items out of the bin without looking at the items so that no one else gets an items. Other location in Other cities make people toss back items who do this but the employees are all friends with families. Its getting worse. I have seen these families shove elbow and kicke people. Goodwill dosnt care who gets injured. Recently for books they like to slam down these plastic bins in front of the book bins and empty the bins. They do it in front of people and trip others. Happened to me and nearly bashed my head in. Employees do not care. This is a dangerous situation, with the regulars thinking they own the place. They need strong and better management.
The prices at goodwill bins is so reasonable, but with that being said, we really like going to south Austin location they seem to have some rules for shopping. We have never had a basket when we go, baskets are all taken buy resellers that park baskets up against walls . Keep in mind when you visit , I would wear gloves and a mask, because people are to close when you are looking, no social distancing unless you do it yourself . Be careful if you take a child looking in bins, we came across broken glass because people dig through bins and are not carful when handing things. The employees are very nice.
Seems no matter what time of day youll always be fighting a crowd. Items are very hit and miss with a lot of junk scattered in but the prices are VERY cheap, though I have yet to find any pants in my size (32x32). Have found all kinds of other cool items though including led light ropes and tool chests.
I always find something good here--and a lot of the time, its something new in original packaging. Avoid the weekends if you want to take your time and actually get a cart (though I havent been able to get a cart in the past month or two). Yes of course things will be dirty, just wear gloves and be prepared to dig. This is the first place I go when I need a certain type of fabric for tablecloths/reupholstering/blankets/etc. You can also find tables and stools and small furniture in pretty good condition. Go for a browse and get creative!Things Ive found: an 8x10 jute rug, a Free People dress, brand new tassel yellow pillow case & insert, butcher block cutting board, and still-wrapped IKEA shelves
Terrible experience, completely shady towards tempts. As well as miscommunicating work ethics, disgusting work environment noting that there were rats on shift. Workers claiming to “ catch it “, left the scene without worry to the accusations of rodents being present.
We have ALWAYS had an amazing experience with staff, management and other shoppers!!! We come here at least once a week! Someone had taken our cart one time and threw everything in the bins including our personal hoodies. The staff went ABOVE and BEYOND and looked at their cameras and searched themselves for our things! They were able to recover our personal things as well as quite a bit of our merch! We LOVE the fun of running to the bins!! Of course you will ALWAYS get ppl who complain and maybe they just shouldnt shop there!! Wear gloves!! Thank you Goodwill Outlet!!!
I love the selections they have for everyone. Theres people coming from all over town, even some parts surrounding Austin, just to get a look at our Amazing merchandise. Theres nothing that this store doesnt have. But you dont have to take my word for it. So come on out and get your picking before someone else gets to it. Have a Blessed Day!!!
If you have never been to this Goodwill The Blue Hanger thrift store. You really have to go chk it out but go when you have a few hours to go cuz this place doesnt have nice tiddy shelves, no grand displays, so you wont pay for elaborate staffing, just for the item you find by Picking thru bins. Yes rows of giant bins , like a scavenger hunt. You will pay by the pound. You read that right- by the pound! Go check it out. Two thumbs up from Cindylu
They scamazed me, picked out 2 20+ year old laptops because I like old tech and they said I could buy them. Their reasoning was because they give them to the tech center to get refurbished and resold. Total bs, good luck selling 20+ year old laptops. They will become e-waste. Good job goodwill!!!!!!
There are rules. Be sure to ask about the stores rules. I went and was not informed not to pick from certain bins because they were off limits until the entire row is filled with bins. I went for the first time on a Thursday afternoon. It felt like I was in a third world country they way the people were running to the bins and trying to get as much clothes as they could at one time ( which was actually another rule. You are not allowed to pick up things in a bundle all at once). People were camping out there and had multiple buggies stored away in the middle of the store and family watching over it. Over all it was a cool experience. Be sure to bring gloves for sifting through the goods. Also, they have a food stand in the store and benches if you get hungry. Everything is weighed by the pound. $1.49/lb and if you get something less than a pound you will most likely pay 0.88 for it. Lots of great stuff there, just have to have the patience and time to get it.
Its big. Its loud. Its dirty. The patrons camp out all day and almost party together. There are Not enough carts and you have to push and shove to get around. Plus you better speak Spanish or you wont get any where. Totally crazy. You must get over 70 lbs of stuff before your price drops to 0.99 cents per lbs, otherwise its $1.49.Good stuff, yes, if you can put up with the crazy.
RULES: Why does Goodwill allow people to hoard what few baskets they have? There was a line of baskets full of items from regular shoppers. ( in a row like the bins). But no baskets for anyone coming into the store. I think these people should have to check out and reuse the same carts. This is not fair to people coming to shop later in the day. Can’t the employees tell them something?....Don’t touch their baskets........Don’t get in the way when new baskets are rolled out........And, yes, it is dirty and there is broken glass in the bins and you should be careful...
Salvage store. Cant beat the price. Maybe wear gloves and bring your own bags for check out. The cashier was really nice. Only problem is the customers. They push and are rude. Patience required. No dressing rooms for those who really need it. Great bargains! Fun if you really love thrift stores.
If I can leave 0 stars I would. I was absolutely baffled at how absolutely disgusting this place was. Almost makes me sick to my stomach. This is all trash. The blue bins had rats nest, glass, rocks and dirt and more. The health department needs to shut this place down.
I dont really like this goodwill because the clothes are not hanging. They are in bins along with everything else u might find at thrift stores. Really messey and dusty. No organization. They weigh your purchases and u usually end up paying more than u would at another store. Some people like it but not my fave.😒
Ive been coming here for about five years. The selection has gotten worse, Goodwill is pulling the nicer items out of the bins before they make it to the floor, and selling them online. If you look hard enough you can find a nice deal. Its smart to bring gloves. Please dont take your cart down the new aisles when they open them up. For new aisles its more courteous to take a box or bag than your whole cart. Best to leave kids at home.
Youd think they could sort their trash at least by category, but no, you will find clothes with shoes with toys with random scraps of fabric with household items etc. I was only rummaging inside the bins for 5 minutes when my hand touched a urine soaked pair of jeans. I ran out of there immediately as fast as I could.
I came here expecting a normal Goodwill... Definitely a different setup here, but I found some cute stuff, and at the end its all charged by weight and I paid very little. Definitely pretty gross though. Next time Ill bring gloves. Trash in the bins and everything has a smell.
Theres a lot of nice stuff......but you would have to ninja your way to get it. A lot of the Mexican families have up to 6 kids running to the bins and grabbing everything in sight. Then they throw it in baskets (yes with an s) and sit all day waiting for new bins to come out. Last week a lady and 4 kids had 10, I repeat 10 basket mountain high. Then to make matters worse, at the end they throw most of it out when its time to pay. Its freaking chaos! I dont understand why the employees would let them do that. They think its hilarious. Trying to find an empty basket to use, is like trying to find the bottom of the bottomless pit. If you plan to shop here, bring a helmet, maybe some knee & elbow pads, a portable shopping cart, a Valium and most importantly, your ninja skills. Good luck!!
If youre a determined low maintenance bargain hunter, this place is for you. You have to dig through piles of unassorted clothing and its not uncommon to come across some gross smells or grossly stained clothing. The employees were really friendly and you cant beat the pay-by-pound prices. Its a little over a dollar a pound. If you dont like sifting through dirty clothes, take some gloves.
First and last time visiting this mess. All I can say is WOW. If you like digging through large plastic bins full of junk......literally, this is just the place for you. Nothing is organized or separated by gender, size, style......nothing. You will find all kinds of various pieces of junk mixed in everywhere. I even got my watch covered in yellow paint.....for free! What a bonus! Never will I step foot inside those doors, again. NEVER. It also smells extremely bad inside this building. Wasnt my cup of tea, to say the least.
My husband and I love coming here and finding new treasures. We have found items that have been very rare and very useful. The only thing I dont like about it, is how a lot of customers will open puzzles, board games, etc, and will dump it into the sales bins, which is no fault of Goodwill, but is inconsiderate of its patrons who do this. I mostly search through the clothes, while my husband goes through the merchandise. All together, we love this Goodwill location!
Love this location, not like other goodwill stores... You dig thru big blue rolling bins that are swapped out constantly through out the day.. Things are purchased by weight at the end or some items have set prices. The by weight price is $1.59 lb... I always find good deals there, been there plenty.. Come early and stay late... Open late, Seven days a week... Friendly staff. Bring gloves., be ready to fight the crowds too. Worth it... On the bins, the items are mixed together, clothes are mixed too, nothing is hanging... Go see it at least once...
Way to dusty and furniture people are way to slow they people run and bump and step on us without saying sorry. I like it but i have problems but i like the store i had a fun time with my mom and lost my tablet while.thats why im giving you a three star rating. I hope to see improvements the next time i visit. Thank you for understanding.
Been shopping here for years. Prices on items like luggage and large metal items are not good here. I shop here for books which are 5 for a $1 or glass that is 21 pieces for $1.99. Clothes is by pound. Which is cheap. Employees are mostlykind and very patient. Its honestly some customers they allow here. Ones who push or basically hang over other customers. Some run to grab items. (Which is not allowed). If a employee tells you to be behind the yellow line all the ones who are over it will back up by pushing on you. Employees should make them go to back because they know better. Some customers will bring their carts on runs and leave them in aisles with thier kids in it. Also when they are putting bins out customers will go through them as soon as employes walk away.
This Goodwill is awesome. Its off the beaten path for sure, but you can get some AMAZING deals here. Now let me say that this place isnt for everyone. You have to dig through tons of large blue bins of stuff. And the lines to the new rows of bins can be intense. Best way I can describe it is... Black Friday everyday. For used stuff. Some of the best stuff Ive found at any Goodwills has come from here. Heck most of it probably. So cheap. Either by the weight ($1.49 per pound) or theyll set a price if its too heavy.
Unlike any other Goodwill experience. Except for big items (i.e., bulky furniture) everything is put out in massive bins, which must be sorted through to find what youre looking for, and then paid for by the pound. New bins rolled out every hour or so. Lots of clothes and home goods items. A very unique thrift store experience. Can easily spend an afternoon here. There are some good finds, but expect to sort through a lot of not-good-finds as well. Plenty of parking.
Always something awesome to find if you dig thru the bins!My only problem is that you need to schedule your workers for an hour after closing, like the rest of us in retail do. Because when you dont, then they will start forcing people to leave 45 min before the time your posted hours say you close. If you want to close at 7:30, thats fine. Put that on your hours. The rest of the retail world has to allow their customers to actually SHOP until close. Then they can bring their final selection to the register to be checked out at the posted CLOSING time.
Very shocked at all the junk. Broken glassware, which is a liability, purses with no material left on it. Christmas tree with no greenery on it. I need to stop right here and say no more! Most of the items need to be burnt. Would rather go to the stores and pay more for the item. Staff friendly! Will NOT be back!!
This Goodwill store is different than the others Ive visited. They have lots of clothes, shoes, toys, books, and other useful items. Most of these items, other than the big stuff like furniture, are placed in large tubs that you can rummage through. Customers place items for purchase in a shopping cart and buy most things by the pound. That means the prices are quite affordable! Some of the stuff is rather dirty so you may want to wear gloves as you sort through the material. I have found many items at bargain prices there.
This is one of the most disturbing and disgusting experiences I have ever had in any thrift store. Its quite deceiving when you look at the outside of the building and think that its one of the nicest Goodwills youve seen and then you step inside and get slapped with a dose of reality. It literally looks like the trash that people put in the business does get directly put into these huge rolling Bins which have anything from clothes to shoes to trash . People are rude the employees are rude one almost ran me over with 1 of the blue bins. I wouldnt touch any of those clothes even with gloves on. I cant recommend this place to anyone.
You can find a lot of good stuff there, but be warned; if you find a shopping cart be on the lookout for trash left behind, I counted 5 carts with trash at the entrance. 40 carts in the middle of the store guarded by a group of 15-20 people rummaging through all the aisles. Lookout for young adults playing around, children running all over the place, mothers having picnics, business as usual.
I like the Treasure hunt. I just hate when that shut the store down a hour early before closing time. If the sign says 8:00, i think the tables should shut down at that time... I think its ok to treat them like the Regular store employees. They really get Rude at closing time.
Great for rainy days, youll find amazing bargains here. Staff is nice. I have scored designer dresses, leather arm chairs, Polaroid cameras, designer shoes, and more and often spend less than $10 for a cart full of items. Really love that this place exists - fun for thrift shoppers but truly a life saver for when youre super broke and need some clothes.
Always a crowd! Used goods from shoes, household, clothes, misc items. Almost everything is sold by the pound which is $1.49. From when I first started coming, the items are not as randomly great, if you have the time to stay over an hour you will find something worth it. The regular crowd of people can be a bit over the top.
Gross need a parking place for handicap folds larger than a small spot. Carts would be good. One needs to know gloves are need ed since the employees are wearing the gloves the to prevent diesiese. One fells very used shopping there. The glory of good daddy store. The handicap parking for customer pick up were larger. No use for those with a true need.
I love this place for treasure hunting! Its flat rate pay by the pound now (used to be different per pound prices for different items), so its really worth it if you buy light things like silk clothing (practically free!), but not so worth it if you find a pair of boots or a heavy coat. Those items could end up costing just as much as they would have been in a regular Goodwill. You also need to be aware of the rules. When they start carting in new bins, you cant start going through them until they say so. Otherwise you will be yelled at and called mean names! Haha I speak from experience. It can be very tiring on your arms to dig through the bins, especially the clothing. Make sure to bring gloves and a sense of humor. You never know what you might find!
Its a great place to go , and fine beautiful stuff that you need and are affordable, especially when for some reason you find yourself in a predicament were you become homeless with only what you have on your back. And you have to start. Over.begins are tough this place helps alot.theyre affordable they help those who are down without realizing it.Its one of Gods sent places .intervention from above. With love.
I was waiting in a very long line to check out at a goodwill outlet and when I was next in line I was told that the cashier was no longer open and that I would have to go to the back of another line. Going to the back of another line meant I would be waiting at least another 30 minutes to check out. I asked if I could be next at the new cashier line that had opened and was told that I would have to go behind all of the people who were just in line behind me. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that I was speaking to the manager and that if I didnt like it then I could leave. I became irate at this point. I go to this goodwill 2-3x a month and spend about $200 a month there. To be treated so disrespectfully was so insulting, not to mention that I believe it was racially motivated. I was told that I had to leave at that point and would no longer be able to purchase my items. Although, the original cashier who was supposed to check me out originally had volunteered to take care of me, the manager told her that she was the boss and thats not what she was going to do.So, as a loyal customer, I spent an hour and a half looking for merchandise then waited in line for 30 minutes. Then was told to get in another line for another 45 minutes. Then was told to just leave because that made me upset.I have never been treated so disrespectfully.

2021-06-07This location shows favouritism to resellers. Rather than making sure that all customers have shopping cart availability they allow the resellers to take and fill up shopping carts line them up along a backwall and do nothing about the fac that they have other customers in the building. This should not be allowed. One shopping cart per family is what it should be. There should not Is the shopping cart stacked along a wall full of merchandise. If these people really want the merchandise they should be purchasing it and taking it to their vehicle. By allowing the reseller to keep shopping carts you make them unavailable to others. You then have customers who much carry their items in their arms. This is not fair. The management of this location should stop this immediately. Stop allowing resellers to take over the store. I was highly disappointed in this location. The location in Hillsboro Oregon was way more organized. Books, were kept separate as were shoes and clothing. Glassware of handled better as well. Not being able to get a shopping cart was just the icing on the cake. Shame on management for not controlling the store better. Also there was no social distancing. When new bins are brought out the resellers rush them so you end up with 3 or more people at one bin. There should be one person per bin to be able to maintain social distancing. If rules are enforced then shopping is safer for all.

2022-03-21I accidentally found this place and got some cool stuff but as a first timer, I didn’t know that there are entire FAMILIES that will run you over and scatter to the bins like roaches. I also found some items in a cart but it turned out to be someone’s stuff and the guy got all mad and in my face about it but nowhere does it say that the 30 carts lined up along the sides are items that are taken already they really need to get that under control

2022-07-15MANAGER and Cashier took an item from me at check out and said that wasnt suppose to be in the bins. Extremely unprofessional for a manager to do so.. OBVIOUSLY KEEPING IT FOR THEMSELVES. They make no attempt to clear any computers from bins, but if you find something nice they wont sell it to you.. there are plenty of laptops and desktop towers in the bins. There are no signs of said policys.

2022-05-29Please, Goodwill, it is time to stop the cart hoarding. Make it stop. It’s wrong. It makes the place super crowded and gross. People can’t get their hands on a cart because they are all filled with stuff, parked along the perimeter. End this practice!!

2022-02-15I have to agree with previous posts about the cart situation. It seems like you shouldn’t be able to keep carts parked on the side. I did address this with staff. They told me to follow someone to their car and then ask them for the cart. Someone did this to me on one trip and I was a little thrown off as a woman having a man follow me to my car. This is a super popular location so some sort of solution about cart hoarding or occupying at the side of the store would be a good idea. Another option would be to just supply the store with another 50 carts. Thanks!

2022-02-16Hopefully they can find better store management because from what the other customers were saying it sounds like GRACIE is a terrible manager and very disrespectful. My wife and I have been coming here for at least 10 years and usually have good time. This past week was a legit nightmare. Started off with the half bald screaming “manager” they have to keep people in order. She is very rude and you can hear here talking trash about the other non Spanish speakers in Spanish and is very unprofessional. My wife speaks Spanish fluently and when she called my wife cabrona my wife corrected her in Spanish and told her to never disrespect her. Obviously, the weak bald headed power tripping chihuahua looking jefa told my wife she had to go and can not come back. Even though she was the one who started the issue by calling my wife out of her name.

2022-02-04You can find anything and everything here. And they charge by the pound making it incredibly cheap.

2022-03-20Nice place to buy random stuff. Pay by the pound.

2022-05-22The people who sit by the wall and hoard the carts really just need to pay and put their stuff away before getting another , or better yet Ill just bring my own lol

2021-12-21Recently checked south location out and was very disappointed. Not only were other shoppers rude to my wife. When I mentioned it to short bowling ball manager he asked if we wanted to settle my wife’s issue outside like men. At that point we proceeded to try and pay and that is when he told us we had to leave. If they have ghetto managers I’m not surprised the employees and environment is as hectic as present.
