Great tasty food, friedly environment, and great staff. Their menu is heavy on steak but they offer alternative plates that are not steak, like chiken and fish. This is a good place to celebrate a loved one, as they offer reservations prior to the event to set up an area. The food does take a little while to come out because they make sure it is cook properly. Overall an excellent place to start some family traditions where this restaurant is the place to go often.
Great American Steakburger is a favorite of ours and we make sure to eat there any time we are visiting El Paso. The owners are wonderful and the waitstaff has always been great for us. Restaurant was very busy, but we were seated promptly. The food is great quality and delicious. I enjoyed the Rainbow Trout with Mashed Potatoes and White Gravy, while my husband had his go-to Beer Battered Chicken Breast Sandwich. The Pineapple Coleslaw is the BEST coleslaw ever!
Havent been to this location before. The waiter was pretty attentive. Food was delicious. Had the green chile steak burger and fries and it was all delicious. Had to wait a bit longer for the food then the ticket but it was getting pretty busy and there was a wait for tables so still not bad considering.
I had the filete mignon & it was delicious & cooked perfectly. If you are really hungry then order the T-bone. My son had the T-bone steak & he finished it. So yes it was very tasty. We both like our meat cooked medium rare. I would definitely recommend Great American Steakhouse. 👍 👌
Got the tortilla soup with grilled chicken...it was worth getting for sure. I will be getting it again. My wife got the western steak burger which was good and I got the green Chile which I thought was even better. If I could eat there every day without blowing up like a balloon...I would.
Made a reservation online. I got here told they dont do reservation. I ordered a sirloin and got a flank. MacCheese with was very greasy. Coleslaw was a joke. Ordered artichoke dip with shrimp. No shrimp and the dip was with the yellow cheese instead of white. Over all food was greasy and very loud. My head is pounding.
This restaurant is good. But not the best. The have issues with the kitchen staff. The waiters are fine and try to please you. I have encountered bad moments either calling in my order for pick-up or dining in (which is rare). And the problems are always with the kitchen staff. Dry buns, horrible sliced onions ( not the Food and Wine Quality), wilted lettuce, dry tomato slices but great pickles and the hamburger meat is always great. But overall, they fail to be consistent and the prep work is a poor. Posted by Olivias husband Lee Ligon who calls in and picks up the order. Been disappointed many times but the beef is still excellent!
Good food but bring a full wallet! Everything is pricey but the eats are quality! The wait staff is a bit overwhelmed but management is probably trying to operate with as close to a skeleton crew as possible. They are very attentive and quick to respond. They earn their tips! The food is top notch which is why it is always crowded. Tasty, tasty! Cant go wrong no matter what you order!Bring your appetite because the servings are generous!
Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and finally had the opportunity to go as a birthday dinner. From what I could say is from the moment I walked in, my family and I were not pleased with the service at all. The staff congregated along the wall jibber jabbering about nothing as my family and I were waiting to even get a menu. 3 members of my family had to call on someone to request for their drink orders to be placed. We constantly had to ask for something because the waitress we had was incompetent. I simply requested extra napkins from our waitress and as she walked to the front, she stops to talk with other employees. She never asked if we needed anything, never asked if everything was OK. Although she did go to another table to check on them. We even had another employee being is our ticket because the incompetence of our waitress. The staff does seem to congregate a lot in there. Very poor service, although the food was outstanding. We would like to return because our dinner was excellent but, the service was extremely terrible, that will keep us from returning. No excuse can be given or will be accepted.
2/27/22 11:30 a.m.Our server Pricella deserves 10 star rating. She was great. The food does too. Atmophere 10!Everything was perfect until it came time to pay. We could not believe that tips are shared!! When not everyone worked as hard as what we saw Priscilla and Diego do.They both deserved what we wanted to give them individually, But when it was turned down saying they share the tips and could not accept it for theirselves. We were blown away!!! There was this one girl that came in at 12. Red car. Gray shirt. We just noticed how laid back she was no urgency ,strolling about. We had asked her for more napkins but she forgot. She took the table next to us their bill and proceeded to the front, strolling back talking with another employee black shirt as if they were in the park. Mind you hands still very saucy waiting for napkins. Priscilla brought us more. Thank you. it sad that not every will work as hard but still get everyones elses tips. The server tips should be shared with the cook only, not other severs. Thay should not be afraid to accept the tips for themselves they deserve it.
Omg well what can I say? This place is by far the best place to enjoy your great piece of steak. Jordan our waitress is so on top of her stuff. She listens to what you want and accommodates very well . You want great service you must come here. This steak house maybe an old building but boy their employees ROCK!!!I DEFINITELY WILL BE COMING AGAIN!! 100%
ALWAYS great food and service! I absolutely love that they do not require masks and are not forcing their employees to wear them. I miss seeing smiling faces... Food is amazing no matter what you order. Jordan is one of the best servers there (you really cant go wrong with any of them). I highly recommend this place!!!
Really good experience today. First of all, I want to commend our server. Receipt says his name is Robert S. We had large table of about 12 people and we all were constantly asking for things like drinks, ranch, ketchup, etc. He always stayed proper and brought everything out quickly to us. I ordered the Green Chile Burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was good but I feel like it couldve been better. The sweet potato fries were really good though. Definitely recommend those. I did taste my friends grilled chicken and that was really good as well.
Food was not good, and way too expensive!!!Had ordered the chicken breast and brisket. Chicken was over cooked which made it dry and brisket was in some sort of liquid. My sons ordered steaks and both said that theyre steaks were dry and tough when they ordered it medium done. Very dissapointed with service.
Getting through the door I was not impressed at all. Most employees were not wearing masks and the restaurant looked extremely dirty! The water tasted like water from your hose, and the servers never came to your table unless you waved them down. I got the sausage bites for my appetizer and it came out very cold, and for the price it wasn’t worth it at all. It was just a grilled sausage with bbq sauce. I ordered the western steak burger and it did not come as described on the menu. There was no sauce therefore it being extremely dry, and the burger was salty. To my surprise the burger and fries came out hot despite the appetizer coming out cold. The server was understanding about taking back the burger in exchange for something else. I ordered the bacon cheese steak burger and it was a little better. My overall experience was bad, and if you want the best bang for your buck don’t come here.
OMG, This is the place for a real hamburger. The rib eye burgers are delish as well. I love the potato fries with white gravy and really excellent service. The staff really work well to make sure all the tables are well taken care of. Try em really worth your time and get your money worth at Great American steakhouse.
Well Im sad to have to change my 5 star rating to 1 star. This is the 4th time Ive had horrible service. Not just rude, but hours waiting and having to leave without food because they are preoccupied and dont bother to order the food until Ive already waited 45 minutes. Sad. Great food. If you can get it.
I usually go to this restaurant about once a month becauseit is good. This time, however, the service was slow (we had to summons our server a few times) and the food was not made to order (the french fries were over done and our meat was not cooked as requested...well done in lieu of medium). I hope this just happened to bgg e an off day for the restaurant. Quite disappointing. Date of service 11.09.21
Our experience with this restaurant this evening(8/21/21) was very below your standards. We ordered a senior fish plate with a baked potato(roll was hard and served with sour cream, fish was served with a Mayo mixture, not tartar sauce) and a green Chile cheese steak burger, medium rare and a side of coleslaw. The burger came over cooked without the usual side of fries. Our waiter never checked back with us so we had to complain to another waiter. While he was having my burger recooked, he brought me an order of lukewarm fries. The burger came way undercooked, almost raw with an order of hot fries. Your restaurant had plenty of servers and busboys so service wasn’t an issue. In fact the waiters were just standing around talking. When paying out I explained our complaints again and the girl said yes, we did discount your meal even not charging you for the coleslaw. I didn’t want free food, I just wanted to be served what I ordered. We haven’t had food served to us like this in all the many years we have been going to this restaurant. Very dissatisfied customer.
The 3 stars are only for the cooks who made our delicious plate. I’ve gone a handful of times to this same location this year and every time the service is worse. This last visit was the worst. My mom and her husband arrived 15-20 min before my brother and myself. Theytook our order 30 min after my mom arrived. It took another 20-30 min to take our main dish order and about 20-30 min for food to come out. Our server got an attitude after coming around the 2nd time and probably overhearing our complaints. My mom and husband made a comment about how we hadn’t been waiting awhile already and all she didn’t was snap her head away from him and rudely asked us what’s we wanted to eat. I’m a server myself and I’ve handled the same capacity of customers by myself and never treated my customers this way. If I hear complaints, I try my best to do better as I’m living off their tips. The food wait we looked over because the food was still hot and delicious, good job from the cooks. I’ve had one good server this year during one of my visits and gladly tipped her $20 for a salad. I’d like to be able to enjoy our family meals here again but we might just start getting to-go orders. Hope service gets better
I remember coming here when I was younger and it was amazing. Now its just meh. I went with a pretty big group and everything came out but it just wasnt any good. The steak was bland, the brisket was dry, and nobody really seemed happy with their food. Maybe I should have stuck with their burgers.
Had dinner with the family in Sunday 7/11 around 4:30 at the Yarbrough location. The wait was about 5 min. We ordered our food and as always it was delicious. Unfortunately, our server didnt crack a smile, no greeting and was very unfriendly. When we entered the restaurant we overheard our server and another staff member say tell them we are closed. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant and during our meal we overheard our server and another server talking about us from the kitchen. We also heard the other table next to us comment why the waitress was upset. What the heck Great American? My family and I have been patrons for over 15 years and this was the absolute worst visit. We asked for the check and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came to our table we explained what happened and there was an apology, but wanted to explain why there was going to be no tip. Disappointed to say the least.
Went to eat lunch on a Thursday around 2p and had a bad lunch. Our server was the manager. Our top sirloin was not cooked as a medium steak, it was wee done. We ordered mushrooms and they did not come with meal. We normally get them as appetizers before the meal. When she brought the food we asked for them and she daid they were being done, guess that is manager lingo. We told her we no longer wanted them. We explicitly told her we were sharing and did not provide an extra plate for a large salad, did noy hring us extra lemon slices that I adked for during ordering. And, she never returned to ask us uf we needed anything, BUT she did come to drop off bull. We have been coming here many years and have had exceptional service. This experience sucked.
Outstanding customer service!!! I called in an order last night and the young lady answering the phone was so polite. She even took the time to ask if I was familiar with their curbside pick up process. She explained which side of the building to park at and to just simply call and let them know which number I was parked in. There were a few cars already parked when I arrived so was prepared to wait....but I was tended to immediately and only spent about 4 minutes total there. The food was cooked perfectly and the portions were true to dine in size. I had contact with three staff members. The young lady on the phone, a young man who greeted me curbside, and another young lady who brought my food out. All three were polite and professional and I can’t stress enough how much I appreciated them and their kindness. To the entire team, I thank you and I pray that you are kept safe during this pandemic.
Service was terrible, water tasted awful as well as the tea. I suggest getting a water filtration system in place. Tried the Hot Volcano burger and I gotta say, that was one of the worst burgers I ever had. Definitely do not recommend this place unless your standards and taste buds are extremely low
Friday 8/13 @ 3pm. Only six tables to tend to, and food and service were horrendous. I asked for tampiqueña steak sandwich, with meat medium...I got it well done. Meat was tough. My fries were cold. My bread was soggy because of excessive grilled onions. We asked for more tartar sauce for our fish sandwich. Matthew A (server) decides to run tickets, chat with exiting clientele and about ten minutes later remembers were waiting on our tartar sauce. Flies continually trying to get to our food. And as we sit trying to make the best of this experience, staff is joyfully singing happy birthday to an employee in the kitchen. El Paso is BIG on supporting local, but with this type of experience, it makes it difficult to do so.
Food was horrible just like the service. Chicken was dry, burger was pink. Manager, Christy, was our waitress and you’d expect great service from her. Yet we received the complete opposite. She was extremely rude and in a horrible mood and the staff reflected her bad mood as well. She looked to be bothered by us asking questions about the menu and when asking for sides and refills on drinks. Christy was very impatient and seemed as if she did not want to be there. We all have problems and have bad days, but when working in the service industry you need to put your problems aside and treat customers with respect. She did not present/act as a manager. More training should be spent on teaching customer service and training management how to treat customers.
Party of 4.Country fried steak, hamburger steak, filet medallions & fried haddock, kinda all over the map.My fish and baked potato were good. I was a little concerned about having an order different from the others. This time the kitchen timed it right. The slaw was good. The beans were non-committal at best. Not quite ranch beans, but not sweet enough for baked.Bread was nice. Our wait team did well but the kitchen was slower but accurate. Worth it , Im not sure.We will be back sooner or later.
Planned an early lunch for 20-25 in advanced was told party room is not being used in the weekends . :( so I was set up in the middle of every one that seemed to have bothered the manager that set us up there. And I turn and notice the manager opened up the party room - ( not for a party either) And what saved the day ? the server was great !!
I was visiting my family from utah and they wanted to come here to eat. Our waitress messed up our drink orders. We ordered our food and she only came once to refill a water we never got refills during our meal. I ordered a salad and my sister had a bite and noticed the lettuce tasted dirty. I ate some and towards the end of the salad had a old piece of cheese. We waited quite some time for our server to either ask for a refill and the check but she didn’t come until we asked another server to find her. She came up to the table and asked if we needed something from her. We got our check and were going to split the check. The POS system was literally next to our table and she was splitting the check cost on her phone while another server was flirting or messing around with her including the manager. I told the manager about the bad cheese and the dirty lettuce and he said that’s how arugula tasted. I have had plenty of salads with arugula in the past that did not taste dirty or cheese that did not taste old. I was not impressed. We will not be going back and my parents are typically generous tippers. Today we did not tip and will not recommend any of our friends or family to go here. She was a nice server but not attentive. Food was ok but not worth the prices considering everything is pre-made.
Like to go on weekdays, I will never go again on weekends! Waitress was rude!! took over 30 minutes not to get order and not once did anyone acknowledge that we were there! When I told the waitress about situation she said she is not the cook thats when I blew up inside!!! My husband and I looked at each other and walked off!! Acknowledge your customers and have better waitresses!!! You Know Who You Are waitresses!
Horrible horrible service! No one greeted or looked at us once we were sat at our table. It took 10 minutes before we asked a cashier for a server to take our drink order. Plenty of servers standing around. Had to send our appetizer (sausage bite) back because they were burnt. Took three different people to get our drinks, order, and check. Everyone seemed bothered or busy sitting on their phone. Only friendly service we received was from the hostess sitting outside. I understand Covid has effected businesses all around El Paso and right now delivery/carry out is the main source of revenue but if you are open for dine-in that service should still be at least good. Don’t think we will be back anytime soon.
I’m happy to mention that the Great American Yarbrough location is OPEN for DINE IN!!Google has it listed as take out only, but I came from there right now! I’m very impressed with the safety precautions they are taking. Limited capacity , Table are nice and neat and six feet apart. Mask must be worn when you’re not sitting at your table. I’d like to thank Our server Danny who was professional and on point with his service he provided. This is the best Great American restaurant in EP by far.Management keep up the a great work!
L havent ordered since the pandemic but l was surprised how different it looked. I ordered the Senior battered fish and l was surprised how small the portions were.I recieved two thin pieces of fish with half the fries. The price was alot higher than it was before but l did not get my moneys worth.I will not be going back
We just left this restaurant due to one hour of waiting to be seated n another hour that we never got our food. Everyone else that came after us was getting their food but us and another table to the side of us. The woman mgr was just standing in the enterance doing nothing until the people from the other table complained and then we got up and left n asked to speak to the mgr. all she could say was she was sorry. She should have been walking around making sure the customers were taken care of. We told her that was not right and left. To people that go this restaurant please keep track of your time n complain if u do not get served. This spoiled our Father’s Day thank great American!
Everyone Ive said to go to Great American not unless were eating together.. but make fun of me for wanting to go to this restaurant for dinner or just a salad.. Ive never been disappointed with the service especially since this pandemic has happened and the reopening of restaurants.. they are very much in the social distancing and food is good!! Never been disappointed..
This was another place recommend and yet another checked off our list.We were promptly greeted and seated. The menu consisted a variety of burgers, steaks and sandwiches. I opted for the original steak burger, 1/2 lb lean sirloin beef and steak fries. We are a family of 5 therefore our wait was typical for such, tho it felt longer because we were all hungry. My husband ordered the same burger but with sweet potato fries . The burgers were tasty , and we loved the hamburger bun, it was light and airy. The sweet potato fries were delicious and came with a chipotle style sauce that I could have poured on the burger itself it was so yummy. The steak fried were hot and delicious. All was good and we left happy and full.
Food was great, me and spouse had lunch there, the only thing was one of the waitresses in the back part of the restaurant was upset at some co worker, she kept using the F word, complaining about someone. It was a bit awkward as we were sitting in the back close to her and she didnt care we were able to hear her.
Worst service ever. At first, everything was fine. Then our first waitress took forever to return and take our order. We had to ask another waitress to get our main waitress, but she went ahead and took our order instead. Afterwards, the food took forever to come out. We arrived to the restaurant around 7ish, did not receive our food until close to 8 pm. We were starving. The second waitress hardly returned to see how we looked our food. The first waitress never returned, tended to other tables promptly. As we were getting ready to go pay up front, the girl would not accept our gift card. She started giving us attitude and led her eyes. She quickly declined, and told us that is has to be the exact amount, and that it will just decline the card(after we had mentioned to her that there was exactly $50 on it). However, my husband, asked if she could just try it, (in a nice way) with her upset expression, she took the card and swiped it. What do you know, it took our gift card. The transaction did not decline. She stayed quiet, and handed back our card. Did not say a word, she rolled her eyes again, and said no more than a few words to us. Will not be back.
Don’t get a female server! They all have attitude all the time and ZERO customer service!! We go regularly, weekly, for the quality of food but won’t go back and help other local businesses get back on their feet. Our patronage will be much more appreciated elsewhere.
Great steak place. However, inconsistent at times. Today ordered steak burger medium and ended up well done. Service was good but some requests took too long to fulfill. On a good note my family members filet was cooked to the expected medium rare temperature. Still a fave but lacking consistency.
It was okay, really cozy place with decent parking. I got the Original Burger and it was huge. Bottom bun was soaked in the juice from the meat. They had the extras on the side like tomato and lettuce with pickles so you can choose what you want on it without asking the server a bunch. The water tasted a little funky so Id get a soft drink next time I go. The fries are the best. They are thick steak cut fries and they are literally perfect in my opinion and my husbands. Our favorite fries on the list now above similar steak houses. The bathrooms were clean. Ask for extra napkins because they dont have them on the table already. Our appetizer of the beef nachos didnt get served before our food came and then later we were told that they had been sent to a different table and we got an apology and then we were asked if we still wanted them. We should have said no but my husband had already paid and asked for them Togo. We got home about 10 minutes later and we opened up the nachos and they looked like they had been sitting out for an hour. The cheese was already hard as a rock and the chips were stale. So over all, this place is really good and Im hoping the next time we go, we will have a better idea of experience of the appetizers. I recommend this restaurant.
The food and the waiters are good. However, the evening manager has no business in her position. Apparently you cannot order two or more of the same meat on the up to four choices on your bbq platter. The manager decided not to inform us of this but rather changed our order to whatever she pleased and tried to shove it in our faces. When questioned she stated we cant and wont serve that plate that way and I anticipated the problem so I changed it to whatever I felt like. Because their beer batter that is worth .50 at most is marked up to 15.00. We have been going here for years! Never again! When management cares so little of their customers I dont care that much to spend top dollar for something I didnt even order!!
Hadnt been here in quite some time and just went here for a coworkers birthday. I forgot how good the burgers are here! I got the Western burger, which has barbecue sauce on it, and my only complaint is Needs More Sauce! My coworker got one also and asked for more sauce on the side, and they were very accommodating. Great food, great service, highly recommended!
I loved the grilled salmon and the price was very reasonable. The only thing I didnt like was the waitress we got. I feel like I had to be one always asking her for things like to refill my drink or more butter and stuff like. Other than that I think the place is awesome and the food is really good.
Really good. Me and my GF had the rib eye. Ordered my steak medium well but it was a lil over cooked but to well done. Server always came to check on us for our drinks and gave us great service. I would give it a 5 but for words of the wise always give the man his steak the way he wants it.
After a couple of years, we went back to visit the restaurant, only because we have lived far away from this part of town. Ambiance is so comfy and warm, Americana Theme is proudly displayed and I fully agree with that idea as well. Customer service was great, as all waitresses or waiters, whether assigned to our table or not, came to check on us constantly to make sure all our needs or refills were done. Food was delicious 😋 and the hearty portions were more than enough. With a good heart, they do have a veteran sell g some jewelry in the entrance, but the amount of merchandise displayed is way to much in such a small area that customers arent really expecting to see that or be so close to it when paying or coming in or out. Maybe reduce the amount of jewelry merchandise or at least down to one table. Despite that, it was delicious! Just a caution, not all Great American restaurants in El Paso are the same, so gift cards may be a concern. Any gift cards for this locatiin are only good for the Yarbrough & Mesa St. Locations. Go over and have a hearty good old fashion southwestern steak meal, you wont regret it!
Its definitely a busy environment. The food has fun names like Road Kill and they have a full view of fresh meats to choose from when you walk in. If you dont want to miss the big game they have TVs all around. The staff greeted us and the food came fast and accurate. Beautiful artwork can be found and spunky desert decor. They do also serve alcohol and have a pretty diverse kids menu.
First I would like to extend my appreciation to the management for giving us the freedom to choose to whether wear a mask, or not. More importantly I would like to thank the staff for a very delightful evening. The service was on point, Jordan for the win! From the appetizers to the main course, everything was hot, fresh and tasty. I highly recommend trying the Beer Battered Fried Chicken Breast Tampiqueña style!
My hubby steak was delish but looked very sad when it came out. A little piece of meat and a bowl of mashed potatoes on a big plate. I got the chicken fried steak sandwich. It was a piece of way over fried dry breaded hamburger between two pieces of dry bread. It came with a piece of lettuce and a tomato slice and a bowl of cold white gravy to dip. If you go I suggest getting steak or bbq.
Better than average restaurant. In my opinion one of the better Great American here in El Paso. Serves a wide variety of dishes and all are very well served. Plenty of choices for the family and made to order. All steak burgers are big and juicy. Steaks are tender and cooked to order. The restaurant ambience is very cozy. Nice place to bring family or date.
This place is a staple for when we visit. The portions are so big, I honestly feel full after just a tortilla soup, but the spice level is hit or miss, so sometimes its divine, and sometimes its too hot (too mild is okay as long as the flavor profile is good).Wait staff is always friendly and accommodating of special requests.
Our favorite restaurant, however this last time was a complete disappointment. The T-bone was undercooked (blood was still coming from the meat) when we asked for a medium well. A burger was extremetly salty (we left it) and a filet mignon which was pretty good (a bit dry). Will come back soon, hopefully they fix this things
Wow.. I order onions ring as appetizer served without honey mustard, I asked for it just to be given ranch and the waitress suggesting you have mustard on the table, order the t-bone medium it was raw. As I mentioned all I got was sorry. My waitress was not to be found. For the price the food was not even to standard for the over price tag. Next Ill cook my own.
The restaurant with ranch style atmosphere is a family comfortable place. They cater more to steaks and big fat hamburgers. Is the place pricy? Yes it is. I wish the restaurant could make their own bread and offer free refills. Instead, they charge 2.50 for a refill. The food is good.
Really good food and terrific value. My only complaint is their wine list is laughable for a steak place. Only one Cab on the list which is the house wine at a lot of places. With a party of six we could of spent a few hundred more dollars there if they had anything decent for wine to go with the delicious steaks.
Absolutely loved it.. there was this waitress who caught my eye her name started with an M wish I could remember her name to request her services every time! She was exemptionally kind and very fast with bringing food out. Because of her she made me visit one to remember! I believe her name is Mayra now that I think about it!
Food was good i got a steak and it came just like i like it. The inside feels homey and they have a lot of pictures and decorations that show they support troops. I guess my only complaints are that the t-bone didnt come with mushrooms on top and their complete lack of a cocktail menu. They sell beer and wine with one or 2 ales and lagers. Its a good restaurant and we didnt wait too long for our food.
The one and only original Great American since the 1980s is still TOP amongst the other newer Great Americans. After all these years the fajita burger with tampenquena cheese, onions and chilies took me right back to the first experience. Love the beans, coleslaw and rolls. Carlos, our server, was polite and attentive. The Yarbrough Great American location is still Great! Must be why they have thrived after all these years.
You essentially past for two meals at once- one to eat at the restaurant and one to take home! The sauteed mushrooms are great...as well as the coleslaw and steaks, as always. The Cesar salad dressing could use a reevaluation due to it being too salty for my taste. Service is always prompt and food always good.
This place was suggested by my father in law for me to meet that side of my wifes family. With over 20 of us, our server did a fantastic job, kept everyones order...well in order. Our glasses also never went empty, which for me is greatly appreciated. The food portions were quite large, but very good. I got the tampiquena steakburger with chili cheese fries, and would suggest that if anyone is unsure but I am sure you would do well with whatever you order.I know this will be a place I will look forward to coming to again when I visit from Phoenix.
This particular location has lost a step it two. Went in 2/6/19, and was very disappointed. We were a party of 7, and we showed up about 7:30.Half the food was cold, and much of the food was bland and overloaded with fried onions. The server did decent to wait on us, but not that great. I dont know if they stopped giving beans and coleslaw, but we never got aany. We received one stale basket of bread for 7 people.Id skip this location and go to the one on George Dieter.
We just went earlier and the place was packed and the service was terrible. We were seated within a few minutes and told our waitress would be here shortly. 10-15 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to take our order, and meantime the table against the side wall was seated after us, had water at their table, and were ordering. First come, first serve is not in the house tonight. We stopped a worker and asked her if we could order some water and food. She told us she wasnt assigned to our table and was not a waitress. Ok......meanwhile our waitress never came by and we are waiting. We got up, I asked for the manager and told her we never got served. She asked who our waitress was and I showed her where we were sitting and that our waitress never came. 25 minutes after arriving we left. Not water, no order, just a someone will be with you shortly. I have been here many times before when their busy, and this is the first time ever we have been treated so badly. Definetely not the best place to go for food when they are busy!
Went in early on a Sat night. The burger was under cooked, never received any bread for the table, ordered a beer and was ignored for 30 minutes. The server did not care nor ask if I wanted another drink. I had to flag someone down to get my check and cash out.I really wanted to like this place, especially for the cost, but it was so disappointing. Hard pass.
If you like waiting 45 minutes before you get your food so you’re absolutely starving and get no response from management - then this is the place for you.Ordered take out - told it was a 20 minute wait, got there in 20 minutes and waited an extra 25 minutes in their lobby. Manager didn’t get the food till I told her it had been 45 minutes since the order was given to them. Got a “sorry” and that was it.Terrible management and customer service.
The food is delicous. I had a mexican style shrimp cocktail. My husband had Ribeye sandwhich the colesaw was so good. The bad thing is they took for ever to get to us and ask us for our beverage, then they brought our food about 30 min later and my dinner was good however his was NOT the order they just briught him a piece of ribeye ,we did let them know but we had to wait another 20 min to eat . The manager here was anazing he came to apologize gave us 2 free deserts he also made sure everything was hot and exactly how my husband wanted his ribeye sandwhich . However the waitress did provide good customer service she never came to ask us if we need napkins any condiments or refills.
Gerry, the manager, is extremely rude. He interrupted mine and my familys meal to tell me that their fake fire was on a TV that shouldnt be scratched by my children who were looking at it. He is an abrasive man who lacks proper decorum and manners. I frequently visit here, but because of him, will be taking business elsewhere. ... The food is decent but service lacks.
Best ribeye steak this side of the Mississippi! The beans and coleslaw are out of this world. My family and I frequent this location often because the service is outstanding and from the time you arrive until you leave, you are family!! This is truly a family restaurant. I highly recommend trying the key lime pie. You wont be disappointed.
It was my husbands first time here and hes a carnivore. He really liked the t-bone steak. Hes eaten at alot of steak houses and he said we would definitely be back here. The mashed potates lacked alot of flavor, even with the chives, sour cream, salt, butter, and pepper. Other than that everything it was great.
My sister-in-law and her husband wanted a good hamburger that was not fastfood. I took them to the Great American Steakburger on Yarbrough. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal with steak fries. They were some of the best standard burgers they have eaten with nothing but cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mustard, buns and the most delicious flavored meat. There was just enough fat to make the meat moist, and not a dry slab thing that needed some added liquid to ease swallowing.
It was not good. I got a steak burger medium . With grilled onion and mushroom. My order came wrong. Then the mushrooms they put on top were cold canned mushrooms. What kind of restaurant uses canned mushrooms!!! I ended up picking them all off and she had to go get my onions ahead gave them to me in a little sauce thing. Those were cold and very watery. I remembered why the one on Zeragoza is way better today
Great American Steakburger came highly recommended to me by a co-worker. I just LOVED the food and cant wait to eat there again. The prices were reasonable and the service exquisite! The place had a nice atmosphere and the Ribeye was delicious. My wife had the Beer Battered Chicken (to die for) and our son had the burger - cleaned his plate! A+++++
Recently went there, was our first time trying out this restaurant with my family. I order bbq pulled pork and was totally disappointed. I thought their pulled pork was like Rudys but not even close to it. The pulled pork didnt had no seasoning nor bbq, bbq came on the side and something about how the pork looked didnt seem right. I try to eat it but just didnt tasted right, I just couldnt finished it. (Didnt wanted to throw away $20, which was the cost for the plate and 3 sides, in my opinion thought it was pricey for what they serve) Right after we got out of there my stomach started to hurt but didnt pay too much attention to it. Until I woke up that night with strong stomach pain. End it up with food poisoning. Never again will go here, thinking pork wasnt cooked right or was bad.
My sister and I went to eat yesterday. My sister had a chicken fried steak. She took 4 small bites. The breading fell off and the steak tasted like water. We complained to 4 people including management and all they could say they were sorry. We took the steak home so we would have proof. My sister was vomiting all that night over 4 bites. We came back next day to get a refund. They said no way and dared us to take it to health department. If want potential food poisoning lousy service and poor management then you found your restaurant. Ill never go back.

2022-07-17Coming here, you will have to wait and it will be chilly in here. Ordered a steak and it was well cooked. Maybe needed a slight bit more seasoning but it didnt last long on the plate. I liked the coleslaw. Combined with the pineapple gives it a nice refreshing flavor to it that makes it pop. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good. My Arnold Palmer was average, it needed more sweetness. Bounced around between two waiters, the male waiter was quick but seemed annoyed as the night went on. Im a military member and showed my id plus it was my birthday, but it was just made to be an ordinary day. The food is good and kinda high, but you will leave with a full stomach thanks to the big portions. I would come back.

2022-02-14This restaurant is located at the east side of town. They serve both steak and burger, so you can come here if you crave either one. The selection of burgers is quite good. The burger itself was tasteful. Each burger comes with steak fries. If you want to substitute the steak fries for something else, it comes at extra cost. The service was good and attentive. The downside was the seating arrangement, if you put two tables together they should have the same height. A 2 or 3 inch difference makes it uncomfortable for the group. But still, it a good place to have a burger.

2021-10-28Great texas vibe, staff clean up table fast, they disinfect the tables & chairs, excellent job! I feel very welcomed, and yes flavorsome dishes in big portion as well. Their fries r the must try item. Besides, they have a senior menu, very thoughtful; two private dining area if u r looking for a small private party.

2022-03-19Returned on 3-18-22. Had another great dining experience. Food and service was very good again. All l can say is that the staff here aims to please its customers! :-)I had not been to this location of Great American since the George Dieter location was established. The food and service was pretty good. My Compa and I came because we had a yankering for Chicken Fried Steak. When I looked at tbe online menus of both locations I was surprised that the prices were significantly different-- with this location being less expensive. Also, we discovered that they also offer a section of the menu for Senior Portions-- at a much lower cost. Well, thats what we ordered! I guess Ill will be a patron of this Great American Steakhouse from now on! :-)

2022-04-12Food was good, service was slow, even with a half filled restaurant. I got the tempiquena steakburger with onion rings and a friend got the chile relleno steakburger and we had half of each. Both tasted good but seemed lite on the seasoning. Very generous portion size for the sides, even in the kids meals.

2022-01-28Food was cold and without flavor. I had to ask for seasoning to add on to my tampiqueña steak.

2021-07-03I really enjoyed the food. The only issue I had was that some of the patrons seemed to have never seen people who look like us before. There were a lot of uncomfortable stares but the steak sandwiches were delicious 🤷🏽♀️😋

2022-07-02I started going to El Paso in 2003, then annually until 2017. We brought groups of up to 40 or more here (with reservations) and the service was always top notch! Dave Ogle is such a nice guy and his team is easy to work with (groups). It’s been a few years and I truly miss this place for great food and service. ((David, I miss YOU, too. You’re a good man)).

2022-02-25This place is 3 stars, what makes it 4 is the taste of the foods its great.Management forces the servers do the socialist/communist share tips policy. So you will have one working their butt off, one doing a 1/2 job and two doing nothing. The food still tastes great but the sandwich bread itself is no longer toasted. So if you order the brisket sandwich sloppy-joe style, everything breaks apart... unless you ask them to toast the bread both inside and out, and then sometimes they still dont toast the bread. The dinner platters are still the same great quality.Service is quick and the restrooms have always been clean and stocked... well the mens restroom always has. Plus, everyone always has a smile at the beginning of the experience.Just remember, that high tip you are giving that one server who is giving great service is having to be split with all the other servers who do nothing.
