Their stock runs a bit low but I still prefer this place over Lowes, their employees usually know what theyre talking about another plus side is that is the employees are also friendly.
Its nice to know we still have good hardware store. It gives a down home feeling when I go in there. You dont have to go for far for help. 5 stars because. Someone finds me. Before I have to go looking.
Groom and Saved the day today! They have been working to keep the communities in propane to hell heat our homes during this record breaking cold! I highly recommend them for fast friendly service!
Don’t go 5 minutes to closing time. Because they lock the doors early. And didn’t want to help me. I needed a quick item and it didn’t matter to them. I guess they wanted to go home. I got what I needed from Tractor supply.

Love this store. If you need it, you can probably find it here. Has been around for years and so glad to see they have made it when the other home improvement stores moved in. I always go here first to find what I need. Friendly staff and clean store. Ask if you cant find it because they probably have it. Highly recommend.
Went to get keys. The salesman at the key station took 30 minutes talking about a grill. They went to the register to check them out.about 4:45 called someone to make keys. He was great checked me and a woman who had waited 20 minutes out in 8 minutes flat. We both wondered why we had to wait 30 minutes for him to sell ap grill instead of calling for help then.
Great store that always have what you need. They just close a little to early.
Great hardware store with friendly an knowledgable staff that can show you are direct you were to find what you are needing, an in alot of times inform you how to install the part an in some cases a better way of installing your needed part. Today I myself learned that when replacing your toilet seat, use double sided tape on the bottom of the part that you secure to the toilet, it will help the toilet from moving side to side. Groom & Son friendly staff do go the extra mile to give you the help you need. Thank you, Johnny
I dont give 5 stars very often. This is the hardware store to shop at. Amazing old time feel to the store. Everyone is super helpful and if they dont have it they will get it!
5/20/20, I had 3 Chainsaw chains that needed to be sharpened. The repair person said he would have them ready the next day, he would call when they were ready. I dropped them off on Tuesday and picked them up on Wednesday, the cost was $21.75. He did have a floor full of machinery that needed to be repaired so I cant guarantee that your repairs will be ready the next day. I have been and continue to be very happy with the service.5/14/20, Another successful trip to Groom & Sons hardware store. I needed a part for my chainsaw. They had the part and took the time to clip it on, outstanding service. I did try to get the part at the Higginbotham Hardware store in Canton, and was told it would take three weeks before the service person would look at it. I have been to two fantastic hardware stores in the past three days, Do it Right in Wills Point, and Groom & Sons in Mabank, I no longer need to go to the big box stores.10 months ago. Good service, very knowledgeable, have somethings you cant find at the big stores
This is one of the most helpful places on the planet. You cant go anywhere in this hardware store without seeing someone there to help you out. I am in here almost every day and everyone here seems to be committed to customer satisfaction. Would highly recommend this place to others...and do.
We bought a flooring material, we had some product left in the boxes without opening it, and they did not want to return it, they said it was a special order, but they never told us that it could not be returned, nor did they design anything on the invoice.the material was brought from Dallas TX to Mabank TX so it is not a special order, just transfer of material from store to store.They were very rude especially this man named Lanny, I will not buy anything in this store again.
The one star are for the delivery guys. Sure need a change of attitude and be more friendly.Not helpful at all at the job site.Management sucks. If you guys want business get someone in that when they say that the delivery truck will be there in an hour that it happens.Anymore of this happening someone is going to have to pay the bills.We rock and roll. There’s no IFs, ANDs, and BUTs

Price for caulking was to high priced. Service at paint counter was poor. Guy just dont know about there product when it come to asking questions. Will be returning what I bought $129.00 for 2 boxes of painter caulking is just to much. Let husband go next time.

If Lowes doesnt have product, I can always find here.This is the only place I know of that can make duplicate keys for certian gate locks and spare keys with a chip that are program with alarm for vehicles.
Been using grooms from independent to True value and now Ace and still get the best, knowledgeable customer service than anywhere around. Cant complain about prices when are satisfied
Couldnt get help over the phone. I was on hold while listening to ppl in background laughing and instructing on how to use the register. Not good customer service. If u ask me to hold actually put me on hold not just set the phone down for 15 min. If u need help just drive there youll get information faster than calling.
I went to have a spare key made for my new car and was looking to pay at least $80 for it. When I told the man I only needed a spare to unlock my door in case I lock myself out. He told me a spare key just to unlock the door would cost me only $4. I was blown away that they would put my need ahead of profit.

I never have trouble finding anyone to help or answer questions when I go to Groom & Son. I recently needed help in fixing my granite. Carson went above and beyond to help me out. It is customer service like he gives that keeps me and my husband coming back to Groom & Son. Carson is truly an asset.

Spoke with young lady at the contractor counter. She didnt have a clue about what I needed. Took forever to find out they dont have it in stock by the roll.if I buy by the foot its FOUR TIMES THE PRICE OF ANY WHERE ELSE !!!! Ill take my business elsewhere!

2022-04-01Groom and Son is by far the best hardware store in the area in my opinion. I dont know about everyone else, but while the big box stores have their place, Im at the point my life where I avoid them at all costs as a general rule.Groom and Son is exactly what I want. Great selection like the other place, but THE PEOPLE make the difference! There are people everywhere in there that know where everything is. AND THEY ARE NICE AND GOOD AT THEIR JOBS!!!Figure this our big stores. There is a growing number of us that will pay a few cents more for quality rather than quantity.I mean lets face it, if I spend $100 at the big place and it takes me twice as long to navigate the process of shopping there, why wouldnt I go somewhere else and pay $105 and leave quickly and with a smile on my face rather than an ulcer in my gut. The money is negligible at that point, and nothing that we buy is worth the work that any of us put into the money that we make (which wont change anytime soon).THE PRODUCT ISNT THE ANSWER!!!PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!Its pretty simple really,Great place.

2022-05-10Called about a Stihl weed eater. Wayne said they had two in stock. Drove 45 minutes to store. Staff told me they couldnt sell me a Stihl without Wayne. He had left for the day. Come back tomorrow they said. Nope.Edit: Drove to Eliots Hardware in Mesquite. Maria helped me. She sold me the Stihl FSA 60 I was looking for.

2021-08-23Im so conflicted on the customer service. First, do not shop for flooring on a Sunday. Flooring is closed and you are a low life for stepping foot in the store concerning flooring on Sunday. Im not even exaggerating. We were asked by 3 people if we needed help, but as soon as we said Yes we need one box of flooring. (We were finishing a room and had previously bought flooring for our entire house there) we were cut off and how dare we be there asking about flooring. One of the 3 was actually nice. He explained flooring was closed but if we found the box we needed we could buy it. While looking for it a very unhappy with her job long dark haired lady informed us even if we found the box they would not sell it to us on Sunday. I personally witnessed her rudeness to another customer 15 mins before. Unfortunately I can only find the flooring I need there. Ill be taking my low life self back on Monday. I apologize ahead of time and promise I will never return once I get my flooring. We will be complete on our remodel on this house, but our new one we will be sure not to bother Grooms and son.

2018-07-22Always friendly staff that is willing to help you find what you need. Prices may be a bit higher, but if you want the personalized attention from staff, go to Groom’s instead of the big box store down the street.

2021-03-03Overall the people are very nice. Stock levels are poor and prices are extremely high. End up going to a different lumber yard and was able to beat most of the prices by at least 20%. Ever since the ownership change the prices have really gone up.
