Guitar Center in other cities:
I went in yesterday to shop for a drum-stick caddy, and couldn’t find one. When I asked some lady that worked there, I got rudely told it was over by “where I found that sleigh-bell I was holding.” I found drum-stick bags but no caddy. Would have been nice if the lady could be nicer about it, and potentially even helped me find it, even if I came off a little helpless.
I went in to buy a mic stand. I was helped by someone who had experience with the ones they sell. He gave me a recommendation for the one that is his favorite and why. I went with that one, and it is performing very well. Friendly and knowledgeable. Very good experience. First time here, but I will definitely shop here more often.
I came in tonight to find some new speakers, headphones, and a microphone for my home studio. Alex was super awesome helping me pick the best items for what I’m looking to create. I felt really taken care of and it was a great experience overall. Would definitely recommend this Guitar Center location. Warm atmosphere and extremely helpful team!
Decent store but doesnt carry much. You would think a store in Austin Texas (The Music Capital of the World) would have amazing selection! Everything here is what you would expect to find at a mom & pop music store in a small town not a national big chain...IN AUSTIN!
Wish I could I have stayed longer! 😊Had to get some mic stands, D. I. Boxes, cables, & strings for worship at church, and ended up getting some stuff for myself too! ❤️🎸 They were VERY helpful as always & always treat me w/courtesy & respect, and appreciate my (& our) business 👍🏼 And, the Guitar Tech, Sean, is AWESOME! 👨🎤 ✝️#RockinForJesus
Ive come here a few times...Ive bought a digital mixer for band gigs, some cables, and most recently a ROC-n-SOC throne typically used by drummers more than anyone else, though our keyboard player uses one too. Im just the sound guy, but I load in/out and setup/teardown every week and these thrones are comfy and durable so I found a way to order one with castors and shorter seat height for a desk at home (all have adj. shock so Im talkin simply lower to the ground for that travel) from Monk here at Guitar Center. Service was stellar and even though it took some digging, we got it done. I cant thank everyone there enough.
I called this place today because there website said they have Apple thunderbolt 2.0 cords. They confirm and say yes they have them in stock and at the store. I drive 20 minutes to the store and look around and theyre not there. Im then told by someone working there that they do not have them and havent for 6 months. Thanks for the huge waste of time.
Super friendly. I am there a few times a year stocking up on supplies. I do feel like they avoid me when I am there...maybe I am not hip enough but when I get to the checkout they are always so helpful and authoritative. I would always rather feel a little silly and get good answers than order from Amazon.
No issues. Had a great visit. Rated 4 of 5 stars because we enjoyed ourselves. Great selection, and ease of access to the instruments. Had someone been able to explain the various amps, and how they relate to the guitars, we probably would have made a guitar purchase; however, it was still an informative trip. The drum expert was there, and he was very good about explaining his area of expertise. There was sufficient staffing, and plenty of help available. We went back when the guitar expert would be on duty... no big deal to go back for a second trip, because you can have a lot of fun in such a store, and it is a LOT of information to process. Im likely to up my rating when I make a purchase.
I went in on my lunch break to look at an electronic drum kit. Not a single sales rep approached me. I was willing to drop 2k on a Drumset if I liked the demo kit they have displayed. All the demos were not ready for testing and not a single staff member said hello. I will purchase a kit from musician friend or some other reputable dealer by reviewing YouTube videos I guess. Having worked for the corporate giant in the past I am sorely disappointed in my experience in customer service. It is nonexistent. Good bye Guitar Center . My experience was so poor I will never step foot in one again.
Good Guitar Center with pretty helpful staff. Called to check stock on something and the guy was very helpful and even dug through their new shipment to locate their last pair of 44-7 styli. The pro sound/DJ section is smaller than it used to be which is my only complaint.
Customer service was pretty bad. First time walking into this store and to put it short the person I dealt with really didn’t seem like she liked working there. Was ready to make a purchase but after the service I received I quickly changed my mind. Will make the purchase elsewhere, I can wait. Only bright side to this experience was the store did have some good guitars in stock and I was able to test them out.
The people that work here are cool but this place is horribly managed. Terribly short staffed and completely out of date inventory listings online. I placed an order for online delivery and drove an hour to pick it up, only to find out after waiting in store for half an hour that they are completely out of stock. So, I got offered a more expensive version; but having placed it online I wanted to just use the same funds I used to buy the initial item, but I couldn’t do that.
Purchased a Moog Theremini. Very excited. Staff was awesome- worked one on one with me to find the correct cables. Check your online order in store if ya have it shipped there- I was missing a mic stand in the box and the store hooked me up. That’s why it was nice to buy here instead of Amazon.
Always a great experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If the first person you talk to doesnt know something theyll find you an expert in that area. Ive been in many times and made purchases based on their recommendations and Ive always been happy with the decision. Theyre also great at not pushing options based on cost, theyll work within your budget and focus on your actual needs.
I have had nothing but a Great Experience with my Guitar lessons. Ive always had a passion and desire to play the Guitar for decades. I started taking lessons a few months ago with Josh. He has given me the Confidence and Knowledge for playing a Guitar I have been searching for. I can finally comprehend playing cords, different rhythms etc. that I couldnt before. Also Cesar and the other staff have always been courteous to me!
I want to thank Stephen for the GREAT job he did when repairing my Fender acoustic guitar. Not only did he replace the strings with lighter gauge strings but he also lowered the bridge and the nut to also help make the action faster, AND he polished the body of the guitar and buffed out the scratches that were present! Thank you so much Stephen and Thank you Alan for meeting me outside to let me pay my bill and delivered my guitar curbside as I was having difficulty walking. You guys ARE THE BEST!!Respectfully,Ken Decker
I am a left-handed guitarist. Finding a left-handed guitar in any shop is difficult given the current trends of the guitar industry. Guitar Center is the worst of them all. In some cases they may only have two to three lefty s available as far as electrics are concerned and the same amount with Acoustics as opposed to the wall of musical instruments that are available for right-handed instrumentalist. The Guitar Center in Anderson Lane is definitely better than the one on Mopac in Austin. If you are needing to find the person to speak to for your needs at either location, contact Monk at Guitar Center. He will take care of you in the most professional way possible.
They need to listen to there customer they dont know everything. Everything work out but as a customer you should listen and know what coming in and out. Especially being a supervisor. You cant teach your employees to do one thing and you turn around and do another. Be a example. Research. This mistake Could of cost your establishment a lot of money.
Ordered an item online. When it arrived it was the wrong one. I was told I could bring it into the store for refund and return. I worked with Shawn, a store manager. He was amazing. He really went to bat for me. The return was short 6 dollars and he hunted and found it and returned it.I appreciated his stores COVID precautions. I did notice one or two of the workers were not especially careful to mind the 6 foot distancing, so that made me a little nervous. Generally though, it was a good experience. I worked with nice people who are doing their best just like the rest of us.Many many thanks to Shawn for his expertise, kindness, and diligent efforts.
These guys at the Anderson lane store are hopeless, 3 times I went there to give my guitar for repairs and the repair guy was not around at his available times. I even called the last time and checked and then on my way when I called again, he had already left!! So unprofessional, Ill take my business elsewhere 😒
While the products and instruments themselves seemed great, the associate who came over to ask if I needed anything was pretty off-putting.I made it clear I was looking into buying a new instrument and that I was very new to playing, and in turn he gave me practically no guidance or suggestions on what might be right for me. Instead, it almost had seemed like he had written me off as a waste of his time, and opted to give very brief/half hearted answers to any of my questions.Ultimately I ended up going back out to the parking lot and looked up the information myself and ended up making a purchase online right in front of the store. I would have thought that an opportunity to get me set up to buy $1k+ worth of equipment same-day (after I communicated I had a fairly high budget) would have sparked even one iota of motivation from him, but evidently I wasnt worth the hassle.
Im new to playing the keyboard and connecting the vocals with it. Ricky at the Austin Anderson Mill location helped me find all the equipment I needed, went out of his way to help me find the items that were best for what I needed, didnt pressure me to make any purchases that I didnt verbalize a need for, and made the experience easy and not stressful at all. He went so far as to call another guitar center to see if they could ship an item to me that was out of stock at their store. 5 stars. Will definitely shop here for all my music needs!
It was a year ago. The sales rep overweight bearded.Recognized me . Turns to the other sales rep. Oh he is cheap. They would not help me. Yes I buy used equipment I can not afford a 1000 dallor guitar .Not only were they rude but they insulated me. They work off of commission. The new hire , young man straight shoulder length hair was more than helpful thank you.
I wouldnt say I liked my experience. Paying full price for overpriced music equipment from a staff of shoulder chipped dont you know who I think I am[s] isnt my idea of fun. However, regardless of the reluctant assistance and eye rolls, they actually know what theyre talking about. Well informed, the staff will curate a selection chosen specifically for you, or for whomever you are shopping. They also offer great warranties and lessons in store. So until Craigs list offers warranties or theres something better out there...I shall be shopping there.
No one even acknowledged me nor asked if I needed help with anything.I did have a few questions on a product. My intention today 2/9/21 was to drop a few hundred dollars at your store. May not be a whole lot to some. But to the small business in town where I took my business instead and spent my money they appreciated it.
I have been going to this location for several years and every time I go I ask myself why I didnt I go somewhere else or order from Sweetwater. The biggest problem for me is the staff. Those cliches about dudes that work at music and video game stores is in full bloom here. There was once a time when there were seasoned people working here and now it legit seems like the staff here also works part time at a fast food. Zero in the way of knowledge but big on attitude. Next time Seetwater or another local shop gets my business.
I will not be back to this location. I waited 17m on a little bench just to be allowed in to buy some strings. While waiting I ordered some strings off Amazon for less money with next day shipping and then got up and left. I tried to spend money here but their unnecessary precautions put an end to that. Side note: There are three 65 year old plus people that work at the 7-11 by my house. They have been working the entire time during the Covid outbreak (wearing masks of course). They come in contact with hundreds of people a day handling their money and purchased items. All three of them regularly smoke cigarettes on their breaks. When I see them on break I always ask them jokingly if they washed there hands before their break. They reply Nah. My point? If these older, higher risk folks can work their cashier job this entire time coming in contact with hundreds of people a day and not get sick youd think the dolts at this Guitar Center location could allow a little more freedom of movement around their store. The other two guitar centers in the area are not this restricted.
Love this place more than I love life itself. That being said, the prices on some stuff here vs what you could get from the actual manufacturers a bit steep. Like a Blue Snowball ICE was over $100 here, while on the official site, it was $49.Comes in handy when it comes to other small misc. instruments tho for sure.
I want to thank Ricardo Penaloza with all his help today. He was really helpful and gave us a really great deal with purchasing some speakers today. Really appreciate he went out of his way with helping us with making it happen through progressive leasing. And as well all other staff that was helping him due to being the first time processing it through progressive leasing.
I went in today trying to look at full drumsets. I got there 10 minutes early then when the doors opened i was asked to wait in line being the first one in which was fairly frustrating. But the worst part was that i was harrassed by a female employee when i was just trying to look at the cymbols and she came into the room to watch me. And asked me to just order online because they didnt have a drummer in store. But we are both professional drummers but she kept bothering us to let others customers come in. I was planning on buying $1500 worth of stuff but decided to leave. Its disheartening to see a store devoted to musicians being hostlie towards musicians.
Dont go to this location. Super rude employees. So im walking around and my mask slips down a little and this chubby mexican kid straight yells at me like a child about my mask. Obviously i immediately put down the things i was going to buy and walked out. If Guitar center thinks they can bully me and not be kind about their policies i will buy all my gear elsewhere.
Store hours bizarrely modified to in store pickup 1-7pm tuesday and wednesday, curbside only? Okay, made an order in the parking lot for pickup at 2:30 and when i called the store, they said to go home and come back later. it wasnt marked “ready for pickup” until 6:34pm- with no time to get across town. “available today” is somewhat misleading, and the staff i spoke to on the phone was not only not helpful but his version of an apology was “I’m sorry our machines don’t connect to each other fast enough”. Go to another location or a local business if you can.
Sean H. (Guitar Technician) is AMAZING! Super friendly guy, great customer service and recommendations, and faster than expected turnaround time. Sean set up my used Martin 00-DB and made it sound better and feel great to play. Will definitely be back for more setups and great service. 10 out of 10, would recommend!
I love going to this place! Doesnt matter which location, its like my toy store! I prefer checking out the used gear first for some good deals then I check out the new stuff to see the new releases, I may or may not play a few guitars or basses, depends on what I find but usually they have great stuff here. Staff is awesome! Recommended.
Personalized service with knowledgeable staff in a controlled environment where safety is strictly enforced and monitored. The instruments I am exploring were cleaned and sterilized before I got there. When I mentioned the evidence I was informed he sterilizes the instruments as well as himself between every customer.Well done Danial and GS!
I went in for a repair to my bass guitar (head broke at the neck from a drop) and they told me it was going to be $500 to repair. I didnt know much about fixing guitars so I left with the intention of coming back and just buying a new one for cheaper. I took it to another shop and they fix it (better than new) for $50. I was incredibly frustrated to find out that the fix was that simple. I understand that the store needs to make a profit, but that made me feel like they were going to take advantage of me not knowing. Then I come in to get a new set of strings for the newly fixed bass and I was told about the String Club. I heard that strings were $5 when using the string club and I asked the clerk about it before purchasing. She verified that if I were to purchase their $20 String Club card, I would get $5 strings for the year. I go to purchase a set for $40 (the only set of 6 string bass strings they got) and the total comes out to $38 after tax. I ask her why and the same clerk that told me I would get $5 strings said that it was actually $5 OFF strings. This all happened in the span of a week and a half and Ill probably never come to this store again because of it.If you need repairs done, ask your musician friends on Facebook. I promise theyll know someone who will do the job for a reasonable price. Attached is a photo of my $500 break.
Back in January I sold them a cursed guitar. Called it that during the sale and all, they still bought it. Went shopping yesterday and I see it in the used section while browsing. I figure maybe it was the same guitar. Sure as hell was. Now I figure its really hard to find good cursed artifacts these days, so Ill take a loss on it and have a good story about a guitar that just keeps evil-ing its way back into my life. If I can get it to drip elf blood, maybe I can sell it to Danzig.
Went there shopping for an acoustic guitar and found the selection sucked. The service was about as good as the selection. The hired help was clueless about guitars and had to keep going to their website and still was unable to answer basic questions. Ended up buying one online.
Best of the three Austin area Guitar Center locations. Most staff are very helpful (ask for Monk). There are a few duds. Stock is decent but like all guitar center locations they can be a little slow to get the latest and greatest. If your looking for anything high end, unique or boutique, guitar center is not for you, but if you need industry standard basics theyve got you covered.
They have a SRV DISPLAY that blew my mind. That being said...I cant recommend this location until the covid restrictions are lifted. We had to wait to be admitted despite the fact there were only 3 people in the store when we arrived. Ordinarily I love GC but this was not the experience I was looking for.
Although it appears that most people enjoy purchasing musical equipment online, there is still something nice about going to a store and physically interacting with gear you are looking for and talking to fellow musicians and gear heads about equipment and music. Guitar Center gets some slack from some people, but overall, the shopping experience is pleasant. This location was recently remodeled and it looks and feels wonderful inside. My only real gripe about Guitar Center (or any music store really) is the pricing. You can most definitely find what you are looking for online at a much lower price. However, if you need something immediately, Guitar Center almost always has exactly what you are looking for.
Came here to get a string replaced and left with with all new strings, learning how to replace them on my own, and getting it done all within minutes! The staff was extremely friendly and most of all helpful! I will definitely be returning and letting fellow musicians know that if they need anything regarding their instruments, this is the place to go! Thanks guys!!
My sister and I went it yesterday to purchase mics for recording our podcast. We ended up getting assistance from Alan (De Leon) who was super helpful and very knowledgeable. Although we are both a little lost and had a ton of questions he was able to assist us without hesitation. Thanks Alan, you have def made our experience a great one!
Poor Customer Service! There are a lot of times I pop into Guitar centre to look around, purchase strings etc. Yesterday I had popped in for some childrens instruments for my little girl, who was already fussy from being brought out. I selected a couple things to purchase and noticing that one cashier desks was extremely busy, I made my way to the other. There were 2 cashiers there each serving someone, another guy (scruffy looking) walking around aimlessly, so of course waited my turn. The cashier I was standing closest to (tall guy with a SRV style hat) had offered the man he was serving help to the car with his purchase. My issue came with him just disappearing! No mention of calling someone to take my purchase, nor to redirect me to be better served. It was like I didnt exist. Shortly after the other cashier did the same. I made my way to the other desk, which by this time had cleared a bit and waited my turn. When I was called over to be checked out, I commented on the terrible I guess, NON-service I received and asked if they even really cared. Her reply was just that they had a busy day. What a poor excuse! I understand how trying a retail job can be, but it does not help business to ignore your customers. The irony of it all, is that I still had the courtesy to hold the door open for the guy and his dolly!Perhaps some training in basic manners and customer service would help...
The manager is super nice! He was helping other customers with a transaction and new it was going to take a minute, so he directed us to the front where there were three employees chatting it up with each other and ignored us after making eye contact. Had the parts we needed, reasonable price.
Great service , good selection and a lot of Gibson and Fender guitars, Teles galore!!. Love the used gear too with decent prices. Pretty good selection of amps, wheres the Mesa Boogies and Black Stars?Always have what I need as far ad strings, tuners, and other accessories. Is a good atmosphere and a good location that has just been remodeled. Kind of like Wal-Mart for musicians.
The corporate practices are undeniably bad, but its a decent place to shop for gear that most other music stores in the area dont carry. Theyll match some online competitors pricing, too. The sales staff is still on commission, though, and it sometimes shows. I havent had many problems with being pushed towards the higher commission options at this store in particular, but be sure to do your research. Their pro audio department is better than most, and often helpful.
Completely renovated and expanded sales floor with competent and friendly staff. Huge selection of equipment for all your audio/visual and instrument needs. You feel confident that the salespeople have your best interests in mind and are not just trying to close a sale. Ask for Monk or Brian for superior customer service!
Check out line is more of a customer service desk🤷. Maybe it would help if yall had a system where yall called backup to come take a confused customer instead of making everyone wait for the cashier to explain and show them X,Y,Z products they need. May have just been the crazy holidays but who knows. Still grateful the store is there.
Guitar Center is the only place in Austin where you can get all your music gear in one stop. The staff is knowledgeable and leave you alone unless you ask for help. They do price matching and will search out prices to match from online which is really nice. The only complaint I have is that it takes forever to make a purchase b/c their POS system is like MS DOS or maybe even worse. Fun place to shop.
On three separate occasions (last three visits) it has been proven that the staff is unable to know what is in stock over the phone, and although they take my information for a hold, will either mistake the item for being a display model or go a head and sell it within a matter of an hour. Its unfortunate that local music shops have to lose their business to a company which cannot even understand their own inventory system.
This area is convenient but the staff is not very friendly. Ive been in multiple times trying out digital pianos and the staff never seems to want to help. I will ask about the products and they specifically give you as little information as possible while they do other things. Ive called twice now to find out if they have items in stock. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes for the pro audio department and then I called back and the phone just rang continuously. They are frustrating to deal with.
I visited this store yesterday and I was not acknowledged upon my arrival or offered any assistance addressing the concern that I had about my bass (which I purchased from Guitar Center as well as my amplifier). I felt like I am not getting enough definition from my midrange and that perhaps it was the pups so I wanted to plug into a powerful amp to ascertain if this was indeed the case. No sooner that I had plugged into the amp then one of the store associates immediately came over and without asking me anything immediately complained that I was playing too loud. There was only one way to gage the depth of my problem and that was to be able to play a few bars at an elevated level. This was about 2:30 and nobody was shopping so the establishment was relatively empty so there should have been no need for concern. The mall here has been vacated so neighboring complaints was not an issue. Overall I felt that this was a negative experience and that this was not the first time that that has happened at this store. I have shopped at the South Austin location and have been treated with respect. My only regret is that we dont have a Musicians Friend store or any other Instrument store with which to do business with so I could avoid dealing with Guitar Center all together. I need not tell you that buying musical instruments is a hands on process in lieu of purchasing over the internet so a music store is indispensable. I would not recommend patronizing Guitar Center except as a last resort.
Theres a lot of stock, which is always nice, and everything is clean, labeled, and so on. I only wish they had more variety; they might have a lot of stock, but the only unusual options are the things in the used section, for the most part. Youll find plenty of Fender, Gibson, and Ibanez, but not much else. Otherwise, theres not much to be unhappy with it, aside from the fact that not all of the employees seem very knowledgeable.
Theyre much better music stores in Austin than guitar center. with that said every now and then theyll have a sale that you can catch some things cheaper than you would elsewhere but for the most part if youre looking for a great musical equipment isnt the place to be.
I came looking for a guitar to play some metal. While some employees seemed bothered when I asked them to pull guitars from the wall, most were helpful. One even grabbed another guitar and jammed with me. As for the selection, they seem to have a wider selection of upper level guitars than other Guitar Centers. Most Guitar Centers dont have many electric guitars in the 500-1000$ price range. They probably carry 5-6 guitars from each major electric guitar company in the 500-1000$ range.
Everyone at guitar center is always very welcoming. When my son got into music I dreaded the instrument and equipment shopping. All of the hovering nagging sales associates in most stores always leave a bad taste for shopping in my mouth. What a relief it was to walk into an eager to help but no pressure environment like Guitar Center where you can actually look at what you want and ask questions if and when you are ready.
It has everything you need if you want quality and advice that may save you an extra trip. I would say dont take the cheap way out, but they dont sell cheap stuff. The employees are so accurate, they come across as smartasses. Lets just face it, they are smartasses, but they know what they are talking about.
Big wow... I walked in. 3 people at the front desk having there own conversation. Could care less about a customer. I walk past another person texting on his phone. Same could care less. 3 other people at another area could care less. I actually counted them out loud how many employees could care less about a sale and tel help a customer. And they just looked at me. I walked out and they just stared at me not one person said a word. Well you just lost a really big sale. I won’t ever shop at this place! You should t have to search for help when 8 employees are standing around having their own conversations!
I have been to probably 5 guitar centers before (San Diego, 2 in Boston, Nashville, Scranton, PA) and had the worst experience at this Austin GC. Most times I can get there from open to close and have no problem. At this point in my playing (14 years), I know what I want, so I walk in and check to see they have. I was in there less than an hour trying out several guitars and was asked to leave without any explanation. The store clerk who told me was very rude and when I was there several other times before she was also very rude. I would like an explaination as to why.
Guitar Center has such an amazing selection of guitars and accesories! They always let you try out the guitars they have on display so you can see if its a right fit for you. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and they always offer assistance. Even if youre not going to buy anything, you can ask for their advice on stuff and they are always willing to help. They occasionally have great specials too!
Tons to choose from no matter what instrument you play. Guitars are only part of the selection there. From instrument purchase to parts, they have most everything you need. The store is very crowded [less about people than amount of stuff on the floor and space]. Staff is knowledgeable but busy most of the time.
Do not believe anything that they say about easy warrenty exchange. When I bought my headset the lady said when it breaks all you have to do is bring it back and we will replace it not true. I brought it back to the store they made me call 2 different phone numbers to file a clame. The claim department said you will get an E-mail in 3 hours and then once you reply to the Email it will take 3 days to process. Will order from Amazon from now on.
I love Guitar Center all the time ...Im able to plunge in my head phones or play aloud and sync in unison with anyone thats also playing out loud.. some times its like our own rock show..stage props and music books shirts and equipment are off market and sold back on shelves are available so that we my purchase a special featured item.👍👍
Guitar guy was on lunch. The 2 guys at the first desk didnt really know when hed be back or how long hes take. First guy wasnt helpful at all, kind of left me hanging. Cause i had questions and dont know much about guitars or up keep but my son is interested. So that was a bad experience for him. 2nd guy at least found the business card so i could call back to make sure the giy wasnt going on lunch when i go back.Well see when i finally do make it back if anyone is available.
This location has the absolute worse associates. Twice now I’ve been here! They don’t want to do their jobs, have piss poor attitudes when speaking with you and are flipping ROBOTS!! How can you greet someone asking how you can help them and then refuse to help them?! DO NOT GO HERE!!
I took my guitar in to have the a JB pickup installed in the bridge. Easy enough, right? Well, it took two weeks to complete. And more importantly, they installed it incorrectly; the casing was backwards and the wiring was not correct (the latter I found out after having it serviced correctly). I got it back and it sounded horrible. So they didnt even test it! Wow. Absolutely terrible. So I took it back a second time thinking it may be because the pickup casing was backwards. It took them a week to flip the casing. I got it back and it sounded the same. So after taking it in a second time, they still didnt test it to hear how it sounds. Absolutely awful. Do not get your gear serviced at this location!!!!
Im fed up. I went to the store and talked to them in person to make sure things would go smoothly, well they didnt. the staff was incompetent, ordered the completely wrong things... and when i returned the merchandise the REAL problems began. Stay away from here. They have no idea what they are doing.
This is a fun music store. The staff isnt the most knowledgeable in town, and service frequently leaves something to be desired, but they have a wide selection of keyboards, stringed instruments, and percussion, and will let you bang and twang on things on your way to deciding what you need.
Guitar Center is the Wal-Mart of music stores and this location epitomizes that. You get a huge selection of name-brand stuff at competitive prices while sacrificing personality and, most importantly, having to deal with incredibly unhelpful and ignorant staff. Ive come here for guitar, drum and PA-related needs and always left dissatisfied. If you know what a 2B drum stick is or the difference between a metal and glass guitar slide youre more qualified to work at a music store than the people Ive dealt with here. Austin has much better.
The place is a bit pricey and it is true I can buy cheaper online, but the staff made it worth spending a few dollars more (they explained what i needed for a particular sound / what makes an instrument cheap, good or great / what to watch out for - all without making me feel ignorant). I will be shopping there again.
You shouldnt go here unless its the last resort. Its the Radio Shack of instruments. Most rare and used gear will not be found here as they only have one rack worth of used stuff. NONE OF THE GUITARS ARE SET UP. Most of the time, if you want to try out a guitar- it is in terrible playing order including dead frets, high action, unstable tremolo or bad intonation. I would think to sell an instrument you would take the time to make it playable? No not here. They hire delusional 19 year old kids and wanna-be musicians who usually do not know the product or how real pros behave. They have been misleading, un-helpful and once even out right rude. But I guess thats what you get for 12 bucks an hour. Sometimes it take 10 minutes just to get to the register because they are scarce and busy answering technical questions. Why cant you just have one register dedicated for sales only and 2 backup dudes answering questions. They cant even leave picks and cables out anymore so that people can try out the gear. Now you have to ask the loser douche at the counter if you can have a cable to plug in their un-worthy gear. There are numerous equally mediocre local joints you can support instead of this entity. I say go support local and help the community instead.
Was going to buy a used bc rich guitar for $99 and a new spider 5 v30 tagged for $149. When I asked someone about it, they informed it was tagged wrong. I asked if they was going to honor the advertised price and the guy snickered, rolled his eyes and said no way! Not my fault something was tagged wrong but even Walmart wouldve honored it...going to strait music...
Great friendly atmosphere, courteous sales staff. I do prefer the Roundrock location because of its proximity to where I live, and their staff is on par with the W Anderson Ln. store. I especially like the Roundrock guitar sales guy whose very talkative and has that radio announcer voice.
It takes me 40 mins to get to GC, so I called ahead to make sure the tech was in and if he knew how to handle the issue I was having with my guitar electronics. I explain to him in detail what the problem is and he says yeah, no problem, I can probably have you in and out in about an hour. I drive in and hand him the guitar. He plugs it in messes with it for about thirty mins. Doesnt take apart the electronics like we talked about on the phone. Before I came in I took off the old strings so theyd be out of his way and he could take it apart easier. I brought new strings and set them next to the guitar as he looked at it. He tells me he cant diagnose the problem without the strings being on it. I was planning to pay for this service, Is quickly stringing a guitar above and beyond the call of duty for a guitar tech? I dont normally write reviews at all but this blew my mind. I drove into town (40 mins one way) for one reason. To go to guitar center. I called ahead to make sure he could handle it. He doesnt even take a crack at it before telling me to go to the other GC on tuesday.
Its the McDonalds of music stores, but everyone needs McDonalds once in a while. Theyve got a huge selection of whats most popular. But if youve got esoteric needs, occasionally they have stuff for that too. Youre not going to find eurorack modules, but youll find a synths.
This place has a LOT to offer, especially now that it is the go to place since a lots of businesses closed on S. Lamar :-(I was very impressed with the consignment guitar selection in the sound-treated Try-out Room. I was not as impressed with their prices. Music Makers used to give me 2-for-one on all cables, etc., especially when I was associated with a church band.

2022-01-21This location is amazing. The associates are nice and attentive. They helped me pick up a new Taylor 110e. Smooth customer service and advice. I had a bit of a rattle later after changing my stock tuners to some sweet looking black ones. I called in to their repair center and spoke with Sean who was super helpful. He could hear this was a rattle over the phone and suggested how to fix it. I give SEAN a big thumbs up and recommend him for any guitar repair you got. KUDOS Sean and staff at this Guitar Center. I will be going here from now on instead of the round rock location. (Better Stock, Better Service, Better everything!)

2022-02-10I was supposed to go curbside and pick up my music stand, but I couldn’t find it so I left car and decided to pick it up by myself. Couldn’t find curbside was my fault, so no complaints about it, but when I went inside the store, no one approached me. There were several salesman walking around, saw me stand in front of a empty counter, and keep doing whatever he was doing. Sooo disappointed about this situation. After I get my item, the box was broken, I can even see the music stand pop out through the box. The item is obviously a used item, but there was no sign on the selling website. I will never come to here again.

2022-03-26Every time I come here I end up learning from the staff. Amazing bunch of people always willing to help out. I have been coming to this location for over 20ys and will continue to do so. I hadnt been in a long time so it was kinda shocking to see the store half the size it was before. But the great customer service is still the same.

2022-03-26Avoid at all costs if youre looking to buy or sell a guitar. I buy and sell guitars all the time. Sometimes online, sometimes at guitar center. I went in to sell a guitar I had and was so horrifically underbid its not funny. I asked the manager (gray hair, face piercings) why so low and she proceeded to insult the condition of my guitar and why I would even ask such a question. Nasty nasty way to treat a customer. She was sure to state that the customer is always wrong.I went to the Round Rock store and got exactly what I expected for my guitar. Its worth the extra drive for a MUCH better experience.I will never ever go back to this location. and will steer anyone I know away as fast as possible.Yuck.

2022-06-11This five-star review is for Sean who works as the in-house repairman. Sean has helped me out with two separate projects: (1) setting up a 72 series Tele deluxe; and (2) restoring the electronics of a 1970s Japanese-made bass. Both times his assistance was invaluable. I was worried that the bass would be a loss because this thing was really beat up, but Sean restored all of the electronics and gave the bass new life. In addition to his technical skills, he is a really friendly guy who is genuinely interested in learning about the guitars he works on and the people he works with. Very easy to talk to and open to all questions and feedback. Ill be going to him for all my future guitar repairs and setups. Im not sure how much he is paid, but this man deserves a raise!

2022-07-22Friendly workers and a great variety of equipment. They should have 3 employees at the register. I went and only one person was knowledgeable about the speaker I went to purchase. Both employees were busy so I left after waiting for so long. Ill try again soon.

2022-04-03Online said the item was in stock. I came to get it. They said they didn’t have any. Not to mention they were absolutely blaring music. Two different kinds in the front and back. And it was metal in the back. Ok. I see what’s going on here…you don’t actually want anyone to be able to demo an instrument. Overall uncomfortable experience.

2022-08-15Kudos to Alina for great customer service on Saturday, August 13th. I needed to pick up a bass amp for an early gig on the 13th. Alina processed the purchase in a timely manner. I was pressed for time. Alina knows her gear and found me help getting the amp to my pickup truck. Always great to deal with for great gear. Amp sounded great Saturday night. Id give ten stars if I could.
