Half Price Books in other cities:
I really loved this place. They had so many options and I found it better then any other half priced books location that I went too. They had some event when I went in ( or maybe it was a book club meeting) but it looked fun. They even had clothes and dvds. I found everything I wanted and got more books than I anticipated. Stayed in the store till it closed and everyone was so helpful. They had chairs to sit and read books and a section in the back where they buy old books
We were in the area and my cousin had a handful of books he wanted to sell so we came into this half price bookstore. it was really quick to appraise and paid on the books. we had plenty of time to explore and look around. there was also a large tent outside selling more vintage records. the employees were kind and friendly.
If your looking for a place to just escape from all this covid 19 mess, just get yourself a good dose of knowledge at an affordable price. They have more than enough to choose from. They have all sorts of goodies you can gravitate towards. They even have some toy collectables. Comics, movie media (dvd, blu-rays, 4k) . They even have tv shows. If that doesnt do it for you. The music selection might, they have plenty of Vynils to choose from. You might even find something rare. They have CD to, and even video games. Come see for yourself, Im sure it will be an escape worth taking.
They curate a wonderful selection of books, records, and gifts. I love going here to relax, read a nice book, and enjoy a cup of coffee or inexpensive cookie from the cafe. Throughout the year, you can find unique gifts for anyone in your life. I highly recommend visiting this Texas-sized bookstore for your reading needs.
I greatly appreciate the ability to extend the life of good books, music, and movies. All are conveniently available in these extensive stores throughout most of Texas. Prices are reasonable and you can sell back to keep the process going. My only regret is the policy of closed-minded rejection to the Right of good citizens to legally carry personal firearms for protection against Evil that can jump up in any setting. Not starting a debate. Thanks
Took a bunch of books in to sell to them (which they happily bought). They came out and unloaded them from my truck and took them in for me. While waiting on their offer i went looking for some new books to get then decided I wanted a drink. Went over to the coffee shop only to find it had closed at 3 pm. This was disappointing, went to find the knot books (I collect them) and found they only had 4 or 5 total and I already had them. Went to Science Fiction to see how good their selection of E.E. Doc Smith books was, but I could not find any of those. Got my offer, it was acceptable, took the slip to the cashier and got my money. A good trip in general, but no new books and NO COFFEE.
This is one of the gems of Dallas. If you’re looking for something with a Barnes and Noble vibe, but you want a better selection THIS is the place for you. I loved the vast selection and the floor plan is interesting and fun. They also have a lot a seating if you want to take a second to read a little before you buy. They also have a cafe inside in case you get a little hungry haha. I loved this place so much and I’ll continue to come when I want a new (used) book to read.
Im from Tennessee, where we have a McKays used book store. Work has taken me around the country and I had yet to find something that compares. That is... until I found half price books! I loved walking around and looking at some of the collections and autographed books. I bought about 10 books for about 50 something dollars. Loved!
Oh my goodness this location is huge! An quite the variety of books, magazines, audio-video entertainment. I went for the cookbooks an found 2 I was looking for well under the publishing rate. An sold a couple i had too, Made my whole Day! Thanks half price books I will be back again soon an telling all my friends about you too!
Great place, all kinds of stuff to look at. Great prices, too.The only thing I’d suggest is don’t expect them to pay much for items you want to sell. They’re basically paying you to take it off your hands. Don’t sell anything that you’re hoping to get money for. They’re not appraisers. They’ll check some prices online and pay you a percentage of that. But that’s it. Not to say they don’t have knowledgeable staff, they certainly do. But just take things up there that you don’t care about or have attachment to. I just take stuff I want gone and won’t mind getting a few bucks in the process.
This store is huge! I could probably live there. The selection is amazing-- you can find just about anything you need. I had an ample amount of C++ books to choose from, the Tinkerbell chapter books that Id been looking for, they had obscure music galore, and the inventory is searchable, so finding what youre looking for isnt daunting.
Wow! Ive been to a number of HPB in different states but this one takes the cake. Great selection of new and used books, media, and a fun collectible section with oddities. They even a connected cafe and sandwich place. I spent literally all day here and still didnt see everything. Couldnt recommend this location enough
Found this book and a few other gems recently! Staff is friendly and kind! Looking forward to this read, we actually found two copies so we are excited to dig into this. I like that this book has some notes from the previous reader as well! One of my favorite half price book spots since the location is so central and it’s their huge flagship location. :)
There is so much here it is almost overwhelming. But there is a lot to be found in the stacks of books, games, Legos, records, movies, and so much more. Ill be back to search the stacks and see what treasures are to behold. Far off adventures that take you through space and time, a mystery to be solved, a love to be found, or history to behold, can all be found within these shelves.
Store was open for business, but looked empty. Selection of books and games was not as expansive as in the past. There were a few customers in the store and there was no line to checkout, like in the past. Was not a bad experience, not memorable either. Probably return in a few months after HPB figures out how to attract customers again
My friend and I did not have a great time at store 5803. We were passively aggressively asked to handle a problem and it made us feel very unsafe and ashamed. It would have been much more well received if the person asking would be direct and polite. But the manager or clerk (not sure) just came to us like we were committing a crime and talked to us like we were 5 years old. Please. So unwelcoming and rude.I ask that you have your employees take some communication and microagression workshops cause it was an awful, embarrassing experience. It seems he doesnt know how to talk to people that look differently than him. Very frustrating experience especially because we are in the middle of a very diverse neighborhood. I live here and I (nor my community) should feel unsafe in the stores we go to.
What a great place to buy gifts at half off there are so many books, Cds, board games, DVDs, 331/3 record albums and so much more! Used books are usually new and about 60% or more off of retail! The have places to sit and read , a great little coffee and sandwich shop.I would highly recommend books I took a bunch of old books there and got $54!
Half Price Books is a book store chain that sells used books and other media including music and videogames. I find the atmosphere to be slow and relaxing. The Half-price Books on loop 12 in Dallas also incorporates a Coffee Shop called Black Forest Cafe, which is also very good. On this occasion I was trying to find copies of popular anime My Hero Academia, but none were available.
So I already love half price books. But this location is by far and away the very best. I love that there are even places to sit and read. If you are looking for a book, they probably have it. The staff is friendly and is extremely helpful. So why not 5 stars because they ban concealed handguns. Disappointed.
Massive store! Tons of variety! Very reasonable pricing. Almost anything you could want book wise, and albums, comics, records, ect.. there is also a coffee shop built into the store (didn’t get to try the coffee but the line was jammed packed so I’m assuming It’s good). The staff was super helpful !
Service at the information desk was very good. The young lady looked up what I was looking for & walked me over to the section to find it. My daughter didnt have any luck with the titles she was looking for but I found 2 books to a series Im collecting & 1 blu-ray DVD to complete another series Im collecting as well. :)
I went at the suggestion of someone else because I had a couple of cameras to sell. They offered me less than $20 for parts of one and didnt want the other. I went down the street to a pawn shop and got $50 for the one they only wanted parts of and $350 for the one they didnt want at all! If youre selling to them, youd be better off at a pawn shop.
Whether you are looking for a specific book, album, or even a game, they probably have it, but if you have some spare time, just visit to browse through their massive selections. Ive always been able to pick something up that I loved! Plus, they have a small coffee shop inside!
Went here to sell some books. At least 4 were rare books and should have been valued at around a couple hundred dollars.I was offered less than pennies for the value of the books. Along with those books and 3 other bags of books we were offered $10. A total rip off! If you want to sell your books dont go here!
I love Half Price Books in general, and this location in particular. Ive been shopping there for years. Their inventory management used to be nonexistent and Id just wander the shelves. Now you can go right to a book, but I confess I still enjoy wandering and discovering books I didnt know I needed.
I love this place. Friendly staff. Great place to trade in old entertainment and get a new couple of things. They have video game stuff, records, books, even collectible things. Kids and I love exploring. Cool kids section with playhouse for them to read in while you browse the discount shelves next to it. Always tons of cool science books. Never gone and not walked out with a great buy! Thanks team!
Be sure to go look on the shelves if you need a specific book but they say they dont have a copy. I went this month and had them look up a specific book. They didnt show any copies available in any metro stores. I went to the section to look for others like it, and found two copies of the one I had asked about.Still my favorite bookstore!
Always great customer service and the largest half price period. They offer a lot of books. They have most options of books in most stores. The only thing I wished they had more of was a updated manga section. Although besides that it’s surprising what they have. This is my favorite bookstore period. I love the idea of selling your books and in turn buying them from people who left them behind. It’s like exchanging from your community.
I had a horrible experience selling my books. I brought in 38 books (all in good condition)- 7 of which I saw on the shelves during my wait priced at $13.49 or $13.99 - only to be given $30 and told that there was no break down on how much was being offered per book and that this was a “blanket price” and I would not be able to get any of the books back. It was literally all or nothing. I understand trying to make a profit but these were all popular contemporary fiction titles- with the majority being hardcover. Giving pennies on the dollar for books you will then charge 20X more for is one thing, but to not even provide any sort of breakdown on purchased books is completely unacceptable. As a loyal customer since college, I will not be back. I would also recommend ThriftBooks as an alternative with even better pricing for purchases than HPB.
Great store size. I have never been in as big or as interesting Half Price. Ive been to several in different cities and states. This coffee shop is really a good size. Chairs in the coffee shop, outside, and in the main part of the book store. They make some beautiful baked goods. The book store has a good sized clearance area towards the back wall. Have a great time!
Ordered a book from them & they sent me the wrong book but with a similar title... cost 10.31. This was listed on Abe books which responded. HPB was unresponsive till Abe books was contacted. HPB said I could mail the wrong book back at my leisure. I told them I wanted the right book.... no response again. Contacted Abe again. I emphasized to each entity that I wanted the book I ordered which they advertised. I sent the book via UPS and with the tracking # total cost was more than they wanted to deal with. So I didnt get the book ( no answer from HPB) , Abe books refunded 12.31 to me putting me out the cost of the book. I just wonder if this isnt a scam. I wont order from HPB ever again
This HPB is absolutely humongous! This is their flagship location, so its no surprise. I have yet to leave without having found at least a stack of interesting books. Each of their sections is well stocked, and youre bound to find something good, no matter how diverse or narrow your interests. They have a fairly good selection of anime, video games, and board games too. And this one has a cafe inside! My only complaint is that this is hands down the worst location to sell books at; of the 3 times Ive tried to sell here, theyve given me terrible offers all 3 times. Once, they offered me $2.18 for a stack of books, I declined, and the next day I took them to another HPB in the metroplex and got over $25 for the same stack!
This was a pleasant bookstore to visit. They have a vast selection. And the food and the food is great. They also have a charger available for EVs. It helps people on trips and gives the business new customers like me who would not have stopped in if it wasnt there. I highly recommend going.
They have a great variety of books for a half priced books. This half priced books is huge. They also have the perfect cafe (Black Forest Coffee) it is really nice to sit down and study and get some work done. If I get thirsty or hungry they also have a variety of food and drinks not just coffee. The people that work here are also just really nice and laid back you don’t feel like your being judge or stared at.
Ive been coming here for decades. Customer service and staff are great. My experience at satellite stores has been hit or miss. This visit I was selling a lot of books! Id only sold a few before. They made the experience painless. I just walked around enjoying the aisles and got a drink in the cafe. I just want to mention that it was hard to understand the loud speaker. My hearing is pretty good, but if it wasnt theres no way I would have heard them call my name. I just happened to be near the bathrooms where its louder. Just FYI. Its always a pleasure.
A plethora of knowledge from actual employees. Thats such a plus in my book !! Most employees of the establishments I go to generally refer you to an isle that doesnt exist or has the total opposite of what you are looking for? The selection is huge and unfreaking believable. I could go on and on. But I dont want to make it look like Im a paid sponsor or employee looking for a raise . @woodeyeart @Lastnerve78
This store size is great and has a book for everyone with plenty unique decorations to look at, but that staff… they leave some to be yearned for. I’ve sold books here several times and most of the times, I feel a little lowballed. Today, I brought in a few books and 6-7 records. I was surprised when I got back 33.00. I discussed the total with the clerk and didn’t even realize they buy records at a decent rate! I went home and went through the rest of my collection and got there two hours before close. Mind you, I brought probably 50 records, some new, a couple dozen kept on sleeves and main titles like Paul McCarney, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis, etc. They offered me 12 dollars. It really felt like they just didn’t want to deal with it, so it was easier than actually doing their jobs. So disappointed and a time waster on both our parts. If you treat your books, albums, etc well, it’s more worth it to keep them. Side note, I have only had this experience at this location, never the other Dallas or Tyler locations. I wish there was some consistency to the buying, especially considering it was done on the same day!
If you like books, music, games, etc definitely check this place out!True to its name, everything is at least half off its original price point. Even the big stuff! And dont forget to check out the clearance section which is even better with books of ten starting at just $3!!
Good they are usually pretty accurate with their estates on how long it will take for them to review your books and give you offer ..sometimes they have been really behind and it can take 2 hours if your time to get a offer.the hpb off Blackwell in Dallas does take books from open to close with no limit and give a higher offer .compared to the smaller stores
Half pieced books is a great store for books, literature, dvd, gaming, toys, etc...etc...not only that but they buy your old books and pay you cash. It may not be a huge return on your initial investment but its better than just having extra books lying around. Great place with a lot of different options. I would like to add to this review. I sold 41 Blue Ray DVDs today, some unopened and I received a messily $15!!!! I WILL NOT BE SELLING ANYTHING HERE EVER AGAIN! TOTAL SLAP IN THE FACE! I also recommend that no one else sell here either. Books seem to bring more money than DVDS and BOTH are antiquated. I will be changing my stars from 5 to 2 for this blatant rip off job! #GODSPEEDPEACE ALL!
So many books!!!! Prices are out of this world!!! They have everything you can imagine. Store is clean and very organized and massive!! The staff is great and helpful. They have old books and new! The kids section is huge. If you have little ones, this is the place for books! We highly recommend it!!!
Great point #1: books really are half the price of a new storeGreat point #2: many books are in excellent conditionGreat point #3: the range in books is much better than a Barnes and Noble. If you are a tourist in Texas, this book store is a must see. It is a book lovers fantasy
These guys are great!! They always go above and beyond to help me find what I’m looking for. They are as interested in unique boxes I am! They have special events like geek week and put giveaways for kids. And they have the most helpful and informative comic and graphic novel lady ever! They are definite nerds. And I love it.
Ideal for novels, accessories, comics, genres and most catalogs and categories. Northwest highway facility is huge and spacious, convenient parking lot and even shaded seating outside for quiet reading. Thus far customer service personnel has been attentive and courteous. Only missing newly updated sports magazines.
My experiences here have always been pleasant and helpful. Every year I come to this store on MLK Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, and its always fascinating to look through the stores extensive History section and acquire some good literature for my growing book collection. The staff have always been kind and helpful, and the shelves are well-kept. Visit this store if you are in Dallas, and youll be guaranteed to have a good time!
This was the first time Ive visited the flagship store and I was definitely overwhelmed by everything there was to browse through. By far the biggest HPB Ive been in so far. Great selections in the sections I went for and Ill definitely be back if Im ever in the area again.
Dont even waste your time selling your books to these people. They pay pennies on the dollar for everything. New, current, perfect condition, it doesnt matter they offered me $10.00 for $400 in books and most I bought from them I was just returning as I lost the original receipt. I will be buying all my books online now screw Half Price rips offs.
I absolutely love this store! Large open feel, very easy to social distance. They have new and used books, games, everything. Walking through the sci-fi section and seeing some of the used books was like enjoying a trip back in time - books I enjoyed years ago that I would love to read again now. The language section is quite varied and well stocked, not only with how-to-learn but also contemporary novels in the other languages. I picked up a copy of Pathfinders second edition core book during my last visit, but left some of the movies and TV shows seasons for a purchase on a later day. My son picked up a jigsaw puzzle and sorting tray set while I snagged some last minute greeting cards from the stationary section. Oh, I must warn you, their blank book selection is absolutely divine. If you are a blank book hoarder, then you will be in heaven / in trouble. And the prices? Wonderful! Right now the cafe is closed, but the main part of the store still allows dogs (well behaved and on short leash). I hope you enjoy this as much as I - I can happily spend hours of pure joy meandering around.
Great store with lots of spots to sit and hangout. i love how quick stuff comes and goes in this location. the game section is about 3x bigger then every other half price ive been to. also they have some cool stuff that comes through their clearance section! i love this store and ill continue to come here so long as im able to!
A decent place to buy used books. Not a great place to sell - unless you dont mind that they give you fifty cents for a book today, and sell it for $9.99 (or more) tomorrow.Everybody has to make a profit of course, but 100% markup over cost is pretty standard top-gouge price. 2000% seems a little excessive. If youre looking to get rid of books - this is better than a landfill. If you can itemize deductions, donating them to Goodwill or your local library probably makes more sense.Look up your old, unwanted books on Amazon first. Sell the ones worth more than a couple of bucks there. Bring the ones not worth shipping to HPB.
One of the most enticing and fun half price books in Dallas. Love to come here and just spend a good amount of time sifting through old books, discounted book and other things. They even have good board games and activities for the kids. Would 10/10 recommend any day. Not to mention there’s a cafe inside and you can sell your books too
Much larger than standard locations, large ‘discount’ section. It’s a great big bookstore, just the surrounding neighborhood can be not so great and it’s difficult to exit from I-75 (take the right lane, turn right/south onto Shady Brook, then U-turn back to the bookstore).
I LOVE Half Price books! Especially this location. Its a book lovers dream with its large collection and good prices. In addition, this location is dog friendly and always offers treats to its furry friends. Throughout the year, the bookstore decorates fantastically and hosts Christmas photo sessions with Santa (also dog friendly) for charity. From time to time, they host events in a room near the back and have experienced an art exhibition with fruits and cheese (yum). This location also has a lovely cafe attached with delicious sweets and coffee. Lastly, the customer service has always been wonderful and I would absolutely recommend this place.
Best bookstore I’ve visited so far.Such a vast variety of books and genres, old and new. Not only are you likely to find what you’re looking for, but you’ll get a great price for it.Even if you’re not wanting to buy anything, it’s a really good place to hang out and just look/walk around alone or with friends. Coffee shop inside with lounge area to socialize and browse books as you please.

2022-01-05WOW!I visited this book store for the first time and was impressed as soon as I walked in to the store! This store has wide selection of books, records, movies, CDs, puzzles, novelty items (even clothing) and so much more. You can sell your books to them as well. I was amazed with the amount of variety they offer, and priced very fairly. I will say that they have more economic prices than B&N... I walked out of the store with three books and a puzzle... and plan on going back frequently. Definitely recommend checking out!!

2021-11-04This may be my favorite book store in the world. Theres just no way to express how cool this place is. Im a fan of Half Price Books and have a location about a mile away from me, but this location is really special. Its packed with stuff, both old and new. The selection is insane. Its super clean and huge! Plus they have a lot of special items that makes a trip here like a treasure hunt. I give this book store my absolute highest recommendation.

2022-07-06Heavenly stacks that go on for miles and miles. The flagstaff store is GINORMOUS! You will definitely find something you like within. I also like that they are pet-friendly, so you can bring your fur baby with you to vibe out amongst the pages.

2022-01-21The largest half price books in the world! What is not to love? They have a coffee shop (would help if they got our names and announced it to avoid confusion w/ other customers). The store itself is vast! Large sections of every section you can imagine. For me that was National Geographic magazines and world history subdivided by region. Each regional section was as large as the entire world history section is in my home stores.

2022-01-27Absolutely loooove this place! Huge location and very well organized. I get most of my vinyl from HPB and this location by far has the best selection.Added bonus: They have an awesome little coffee shop inside whose pastries and baked good are made fresh daily at Henks across the street!
