Clean store and 95% of the staff are polite, engaging and have no problem answering your questions. The other 5% of staff are NOT bad at all - but when you compare them to their co-workers; its easy to see the difference. Not as warm or helpful, nor do they enjoy your questions lol. Once again, NOT bad- if they were my employees I would keep them ( might not be wise to take my opinion on this though- my business went bankrupt 3 years ago lol) great place altogether to browse and shop!
I love HPB. There is always some new treasure to be found, whether old or new, books or music. Great selection of vinyl and CDs that is always changing, with new records as well as vintage. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. Rigmar usually has a better selection of Spanish language books than some other locations, but you cant go wrong visiting any Half Price Books. Its the best.

Really bad habit of over pricing out of stock manga. These are items that are still in print but with long delays because of covid manufacturing. Items with a cover price for $19 they mark up to $50. Someone basically price matches scalpers online after paying someone a couple dollars for the same book. Then the items sit behind glass for 6 or 7 months wait to take advantage of a person that doesnt know the difference between OOS and OOP. I give them an extra star because they are not the only used book place doing this.
This book store is awesome, when I walked in the door with my kiddos we were greeted by the gentleman at the counter right away and was very helpful. He went above and beyond. Super clean, great prices! Amazing variety. I always find what Im looking for and the staff are friendly and its very nice to see them have a passion and knowledge of their books. Thank you so much especially since my drive is an hour away.

Mask-Nazis.I dont have a problem with individual businesses choosing to maintain a mandatory mask policy, but there are ways to go about it without alienating their clientele. The employees in thus store are super-rude. They need some customer service training...

Nice people. Lots of books. Although it would help if there was some sort of publicly available database that I could draw from to tell me where certain books by certain authors were. Nevertheless, I love coming here. I always say Im not going to buy anything, but every time I go I leave there with like at least $50.00 worth of Star Wars books. Ha ha.

I like this location. It is well laid out, plenty of books, comics, stationary and collectibles. It feels larger than some Half Price locations. The parking is easier than several I have visited.It is however, a little out of the way if you are coming in from the north. Staff are friendly and no one had any problem with my 4 year old playing and reading quite loudly. Will definitely be back.
As long as this Half Price Books - and its sister stores - is requiring masks to shop inside the store, they will not get our business or support. Nor will they receive it when this is over. Whats the threshold for finally being back to normal?? Tried to go inside and told to leave (fine by us) but before doing so the kid at the counter wanted to hand us masks...that he touched! Oh yeah, thats real sanitary, but itll prevent us from getting sick. What a joke! The level of discrimination towards people who are unable to wear masks is astounding. Gladly drive wherever to find a bookstore that doesnt require masks. And there ARE some and THEY will get our money.
I kind of feel like even though its half price books that some of the prices are a little bit high. But I always found something fantastic and usually always get a great deal. I do like the fact that there is somewhere I can go and sell my books and music and games. I dont believe in throwing anything away that still have value. I love a good Book Store....and not just a book store. They have DVDs..records..tapespuzzles..cards..games. I like to explore and always find something I cant leave without.There are many items not previously owned. Fun place to browse..check it out.
I was looking for a dot grid journal which I did find, although I was hoping for more variety and options to choose from. Im a big fan of HPB. This location is smaller than others. The people working are extremely helpful and friendly. Overall, I 100% recommend.
We were delighted to learn that half price was buying books again. We were told that the by time was from 2 to 4 p.m. however when we got to this location they required that we call ahead for an appointment. And the next appointment was a week away. My wife called to see if other Half Price Books were requiring an appointment and found that the Ridgmar location was not. This was a relief since we had come in from out of town to sell the books. We would have found it more helpful if it had been told us on the phone what the full policy was for each store. We love Half Price Books but this was very inconvenience to find an appointment whats necessary at the Cooper Street location.
I sold my books to them and I received $4.76 for a ton of high quality textbooks, multiple popular AP study guides, and a few good reads. I am enraged at the lack of knowledge for the worth of my books. They took their sweet time and wasted mine for $4.76!!! Never going and I DO NOT recommend to anyone ever. If I had the option for no stars I would definitely put that, they do not deserve my one star. 0 gold stars for them. Terrible.

They have lots of interesting books on a variety of topics. I get the impression though that they are more of an outlet for publishing houses to clear inventory rather than a true used bookstore. They will buy your used books but it is pennies on the dollar. In this case... seller beware!

I do not recommend selling your old books to this place. I took 60 books to sell and they offered me $9.00. I bought several of the books from them in the first place. And there were a few books that I paid $10 a piece for. They are crooks and Will never shop there again nor sell any of my books to them

I could have spent 24 hours in here. The atmosphere was bright and inviting and the staff were kind and happy to answer questions. They have a great selection of books (and a surprising array of comics) as well as trinkets, games, and stationery. Everything you could want in a bookstore at half the regular price.
I absolutely love this store as do my boys ages 3, 5, and 8. Never have we walked out with less than 4-5 books a piece. It is our only choice when looking for affordable books, DVDs, or even a couple kids CDs. They are always asking for books for Christmas and birthdays as well.

Its amazing to walk in and also see comic books in entire collections. There are also educational toys, vinyl records, and a smattering of great trinkets that book, history, science, and art lovers will enjoy. Theres something here for everyone, and the prices are always right! Great customer service and a fun atmosphere make every trip an adventure.
Too dark in the store. Walls, ceilings, floors all a tan color. Even the lights are dull. Not very cheerful fixture environment. Clerks were helpful
Good selection of books, and they buy most used books but offer very low prices for them. Lots of music, but not that much of what I want to listen to. The music is priced a lot nearer to retail, too. I buy some technical literature here; they sometimes have very informative stuff that interests me.
I’ve been coming here since I was a baby and have always loved it. If you’re here to leave a review about them enforcing masks you need to get a life, it’s still a pandemic and it’s still dangerous even if your mee-mah hasn’t passed yet, others families have. Take it seriously, you’re a grown adult and don’t need to be having a tantrum over a small piece of cloth covering your nose. Thanks!

I like the store and the selection of books and music. My problem is the customer service. Ive been in a couple of times looking for specific things for gifts and have been hatefully told to look it up online. Okay, I know that they probably dont know every item in the store but how about nicely saying, Im not sure but you might try over in the poetry section... rude staff.
The staff here are super cool, and half price books always have sales and the weird ins and outs of any books that you are looking for. Its a convenient location that I would definitely go back to and the staff are super helpful and friendly. They also have cool unique little gifts for people who enjoy little nick knacks.
LOVE Half Price Books! Stock up there on music CDs and guitar lesson books, auto repair manuals, military history books, all kinds of how to, and comic books. And they have so much more. If you havent been there yet you have to get there!
I love the selection of vinyl. Im always picking up new books for my science fiction and role playing game addiction too. Theres lots of tabletop board and card games too!
Very organized!!! And the variety of books in each section of the store was amazingly numerous. Seriously i was looking in the christian book section and that had soooo many different christian book and in addition lits of types for example: they had little series christian book, self help Christian books, educational christian books, devotionals, etc. I will definitely come back to purchase more books from this particular store location becuz of the variety and of course because i did see alot more christian books that i want to get.
Whats not to love about books, and cheap books at that. The layout is great and the facility is well cleaned and maintained. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend having at least 30 minutes to peruse the selections. They also have DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, records and more.
Half price books is a screw. I bought CDs set for 38.00Could buy the same brand new for 45.00. There half price is a lie.

I thought I knew how to handle my self in a bookstore until I stumbled looking for a book and asked the cashier. She asked a young man for the book I needed and he asked the questions all book lovers seek first. Paperback or hardback? That was already a 5 star for me. The cashiers smile and knowledge and the friendliness of the young man. He was back in less than a minute. I was really stunned. Tends to happen when theres really good customer service. Great job guys!!
This is a pretty good Half-Price Bookstore. They are all great in my opinion. This particular has a great collection of books, games, journals, knick knacks, lots of novelty type stuff and a ton of other stuff. I was looking for a new tarot deck and they had a few, but most of them are kept locked up in a glass case and are old or vintage and much more expensive. The ones not locked up are very reasonably priced but they are always the same decks and those same decks are usually at all the HPB locations. So after awhile, they are nothing special especially since I already own them all. Since its obvious that they order some items in bulk to add to their stock, it would be great if they would stock more tarot card decks. Other than that, they have a great selection of metaphysical books along with all the other books of every genre and topic. One other thing that would probably make a lot of people very happy, including myself, is if they would bring one or two Half Price book stores to Abilene, Texas since we dont have any of them here. All we have in Abilene are a Books-A-Million bookstore which is crazy expensive, and one used bookstore where nothing is in order at all and the people that work there have no idea where anything is located.

Huge selection. Store crowded. Store name misleading. Half price refers to used books, which have no price tags. Surprised to find full-price new books. Book buyback is a rip-off. Prices dependent on current inventory and demand. I have taken in 25 books (all were new and read once) only to receive not even $5.
It has a LOT to offer: music: records or CDs, movies: vhs or DVDs, books: recent or the one you never got a chance to get, to the ones you used to read when you were a kid. It also has classic or first edition; theyre lock up though, they also have childrens books, magazine, variety of books, calendars, great helpful staffs and complimentary coffee if you want to sit and read for a bit. I absolutely love this Half Price Books! I just began homeschooling my kids and I have found the best and most current homechooling curriculum there. Their clearance prices are the best that I have found as well. The staff has always been kind and courteous to me. I definitely recommend this store. :)

The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the selection (of everything) is constantly rotating, so you never know what to expect (in a good way.) They have a large inventory of both new and used books. They have a great selection of kids books. They staff were very helpful and friendly. So far out of 3 trips there we have walked out pleased everytime.

Ive been shopping at the various branches of Hal Prices books almost since they opened. It is always an adventure when you arrive, as the inventory is always changing. As an example, the book I bought for our son today, was not there when I shopped 3 weeks ago.I always visit the close-out area, and seldom do not find a book I can use at nearly five away prices.That said, it can be a dangerous place for a bibliophiles budget...
Suddenly enforcing mandatory mask policy after vaccines have started and the pandemic is technically over. Wont be back any time soon. Did not enforce mask mandate this heavily during the hight of the pandemic.

I wanted to sell some books. I had 13 books, more than half hardback. They offered me $6. They sell paperbacks for $5 and hardback for $10. I was insulted.
Half priced books doesnt always have what Im looking for but I always walk out with at least one great book. Staff at this location is great, helping me find a new book series for my son.
Ok, I love this place but when you sell the books back to you they rob you blind. I took 15 books out of the 15 , 8 had prices that I had bought from them. A total of $33.00, the rest prices were already taken off at home. They offered $6.00, ..yes $6.00 that means 0.4 cents a book, and their reason is we will discard most of them, really? The books I took in were in great condition young teen novels...my goodness I told them No, id rather give them away for free. That is such a shame 0.4cents a book. Be careful when you sell them your books. Too sneaky and outright outrageous.

There are many reasons I could have for visiting Half Priced Books. Maybe today Im buying a small gift for a friend or even myself. Maybe Im seeing what treasures I might find in the music/movie section. Or more likely, you might find me summoning one of their lively book wizards to find just the right concoction. A place to seek timeless human pleasures whether they are old or new, is a joyous place indeed!
Great selection of used books. Biggest complaint is they do not have a customer locator kiosk so you have to spend a lot of time searching for hard to find titles.
First and foremost, the staff is always kind and helpful. Ive never had any issues with customer service here.Second, their prices are phenomenal. I buy a lot of reference material here that would normally cost me over $40 for a mere $10 or less usually.Third, you can usually find what you want or something close to it. If you cant, theyll be more than willing to put it on hold for you if they do get it.Would highly recommend.
This is my favorite Half Price Books, they have almost everything. Well lets just say I havent walked out of there without spending less than $50 and that really means Im getting a lot of books. I go in looking for one title and find myself looking around and locating multiple books that I had been trying to find over the years. I dont typically like to buy brand new books, I will if they are absolutely detrimental to my current need, this is the spot to go.
I took in books and puzzles to be sold to them. Sone books were worth over a hundred dollars as well as some brand new ones. All they gave me was 7 DOLLARS!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING ROBBED!!!

I regularly visit this location and am always pleased, but I was particularly impressed today. I have been struggling for 2 weeks to locate an affordable text book for my environmental science class. My campus bookstore cancelled my order after determining the book went out of print and they werent going to be able to order more. Despite this, my professor still requires it for our class. The cheapest I could find the 5th edition was $398 and the cheapest I could find the 4th edition was $154. HPB, however, had the 4th ed. In great condition for $15. They searched the database, found which location it was at, and held it until I got off work and could retrieve it. Classes start today and I was about to drop the class, but now I dont have to!

Right now in store browsing is temporary unavailable. You can only shop curbside pickup. So came all the way from Mineral Wells to shop for books and I couldnt. I like to look and browse. Which is hard to do online.
You can always expect to find a ton of gems here if you are a voracious reader. If what you want isnt here let them find it in there system and they are always happy to direct you to it. Employees are normally very helpful and knowledgeable in offering alternatives to what u may be looking for
Found some hard to find books for me and tracked down my daughters summer home work down. My 3 yr old loves the kids section. I love the clearance section and the friendly and informative staff.
A teriffic place to get many different venues and genres of books, tapes, records (Yes, real vinyl!) and more media for discounted prices. Its my go-to place if I have a hole in my schedule that I havent yet filled. Weve been regular customers for years, not only purchasing great materials but also selling items we no longer need. Its roughly the same business model, in my opinion, as CarMax. It just works.

The name is a complete misnomer. Anything with any collector value is marked up through the roof and is very expensive. The only reason id give three stars is that the staff are nice and friendly.

Very helpful employees. Called ahead and if found what I needed. Then when I was browsing, cause I didnt have to spend all the time looking for where a specific anatomy book was, I hit the motherload for the second week in a row. Got three hard to find star wars books and a very specific Neuroanatomy book. All at a great price in superb condition. All the mates who work here are really good.Ill be finding an excuse to come back soon hahaha.
Good place to shop for books. I like reading real history of Indian battles of old west Germany, Vietnam true novels, true books of crime and maybe killings and killers, true shootem up bang bang books concerning gunslingers and such. If its not about true stuff I dont read it. Im only after things that have a true historical value to them. Here lately its been getting a little skimpy and hard to find books that interest me that I havent already read so it would be greatly appreciated if yall would search out some new books to get different material in stock. I also wish yall would pay a little better for the used books I want to return but dont because yall dont even pay half of what I paid you for them when I bought them. That could be improved for sure. I realize that yall need to make money but buying books that were purchased there should have a better buy back value than you presently have.

Manager of this store is extremely rude and he is making discrimination. Yes he did. He approached me when I am checking the books. He told me that I am messing the store. I did not do it. He asked me to fix the shelf that had already messed by someone. I refused his orders because I am not responsible to fix these messes. I am not his staff. I am just a regular customer like other people inside or outside. After I refuse his orders, he asked me to leave the store. I asked the reason and explained what happened. He was super rude. Based on your appearance or social, economic status, this store is making discrimination. How people let them to make customer base discrimination? STOP HPB MAKING DISCRIMINATION!!!

Regular HPB customer since 1986. Not just a book store, but a community hub where I almost always run into an old friend or neighbor at every DFW location when I drop in. Its the first place I go for gifts & media and a personal Shangri La.
Half Price Books of Burleson always has wonderful clearance prices and great variety of books, magazines, games, movies, and music.But sometimes they sell used items much higher than online prices.

This is a good HPB location. Good, but much smaller than other stores like the Hulen location. Good staff, always helpful, friendly, etc. I will return often, and you should too!
Ill never bring books to sale again. The first time they made a reasonable offer. Since then they have offered almost nothing. Last time 60 hardbacks/softbacks they offer $3.00. Id rather burn them in a fire pit at least is get something out of them. Then again H.P.B. is starting to look more and more like a blockbuster business model. Can get more cheaper on Amazon.
I was promptly notified that the book I had transferred from another store was available for pick up. My item was at the checkout counter and I was in and out of the store in less than 5 minutes.
Very expensive, I sold like 10 very good books and got like 2.00 dollars for them. But when you purchase a, they want way more then half of what the books originally cost!!!

I was looking for a particular book for my daughter and asked someone about it and he had a young gentleman with red hair help me and he went above and beyond to find me not only the specific book but several others by the same author ,he was so helpful and relentless in his quest which took no more than 5 minutes, I will always come back to this location they are outstanding in service and friendliness.

Wonderful selection of books!! Friendly and helpful staff! I would totally recommend this to anybody looking for rare books and modern books alike.
They need to rotate there comicbook collection, I know they got like a million in the back but for the last several visits, it seems as if they have the same issues everytime. Though every once and a while something new and interesting pops up
This place is bookworm paradise. I spend waaaaay too much time here when I visit. My last visit the staff was super helpful looking for the things I needed. They also have a pretty big dvd selection too.
The staff was friendly and there were tons of books. Unfortunately, nothing I was looking for, but really, theyre great.

I dashed in to look for a specific book and did not find it. Staff was helpful and looked to make sure it was not there. They offered to order it from another store but I dont live close to the store so I declined.

They have decent books however selling to them is a complete waste of time & money and it will just piss you off lol!! so I recommend that you do not sell your stuff here.
Our FAVORITE store, my husband and I spend quite a while browsing the great selection of merchandise. Weve been to every HPB in the metroplex and we love to stop at every HPB we see when we travel around Texas.

This is one of my favorite book stores. They can sometimes be a little overpriced on certain items, but they are great.
This location does not accept medical exemptions for those that cannot wear a mask. The employee that stopped me was rude and unwilling to speak with me, just walked off while I was politely talking to him. Will not be back.
Books selection 👌. Customer service horrendous. Store unclean and trash receptacle outside over flowing with trash in the middle of the day.
They sell books at half price, but they dont always have what I want.

Books for half price! Cant beat that. Theyve even got vintage comic books, vinyl records, VHS tapes, and old books. Its always a fun trip to Half Price Books.
This store has a lot of children books and a variety of kid toys. I was very impressed with how much stuff they have for children.

It was okay. People were nice but I couldnt find a book I was looking for and they dont give you much for buying your books.
Whats not to like about this place? You can find books, games, records and miscellaneous items. You can even get a few dollars for some of your old items.
They are very helpful and sweet , I am always greeted with a smile and friendly small talk. Normally well stalked ,but it is hit or miss sometimes .
Love this store! I got several vintage books at a good price and Im so excited about them!
Im probanly being too hard on them but I drove all the way to this location because another said they had what they needed. I got there at 9:59 and they didnt even allow me the thirty seconds to check the section for the book. I would have come back the next morning to buy it but there is no way Im driving ten miles out of my way on my trip back to Houston without at least knowing.
The store was very clean and organized and the people there were very helpful.

Great place to shop, any kind of book, but not any kind, I was looking for Islamic theology books, not even a sign was there.
This particular HPB is always a joy. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the clearance section is usually well-organized and well-stocked.
Not a big fan of the selling books process at this location. Took the same books to the hulen location and was treated with respect, and was given a better offer.
Overall good selection of used books but did not have one i was looking for this time.
I love it here because it is exactly what it is: a large used book store. Its clean and neat. Well organized. Prices are fantastic.

2022-03-11Let me start by saying I have very rarely had a bad experience here. Even if you arent that into reading there is plenty of entertainment to be had. I spend at least an hour of my weekend here hanging out by the sale counter just so I can overhear some Karen scoff at the pennies on the dollar they get offered for their priceless collection of fine used torn magazines, obsolete casset tapes and awful collections of god awful romance novels that nobody wants. The surprise on their face that their collections of garbage dont hold the monetary value they think it should, never fails to amuse me. My favorite part of the store has to be the board game and RPG section which has grown considerably over the years. Defunct ideas dating back to the 60s can be found for reasonable prices and Im never disappointed. The prices are far from half, ever, But far less than buying at the ultra-evil conglomerate Barnes and Not-so-nobel. While Im admittedly a nerd and have a passion for this store, its rarely books that I buy here. HPB has rolled with the punches and shows a great offering of things to buy even though print is dead. Hopefully they will continue to find a way to thrive well after the republican party 🥳 🎉 has succeeded in their tradition of banning and burning books they dont like.

2022-03-20All of the employees were/are very very polite...they have a great selection of books, games, bookmarks, reading glasses, and i even saw an iphone and a samsung tablet for sale there...and of course, some of the original nintendo games(: will definitely be going back again

2022-05-29DISHONEST! Took in a tote of old CDs and DVDs to sell. I wouldnt do that again, take maybe 10-15 items that you know the value of if planning to sell. Sad they are not good people here..

2022-01-11I like the way the books are organized in sub category sections so its easy to find interesting books. Idea: text patrons once a month with a discount to buy one and get half off the 2nd.
