So Heartbroken!!! I drove from Conroe to my favorite store to find it closed. Went here as a child and now, as a mother, bring my daughter. This was a staple of my childhood thank yall for the many great years and memories!
Although this location closes today they have been a great source for all kinds of books. The staff is friendly and we will miss them.
Can you guys STOP ruining books with a huge sharpie marker dot or slash??? The ink even bleeds on the page and ruins the books. So ridiculous and STUPID. Cant even collect because all the books ends and some of the pages are ruined.
You have community staples, and this establishment is just that. A great statement to the depth of the atmosphere and community characteristics. I value this store ♥️♥️💯🎯🎯
Ive been shopping at Half Price Books since the 70s, starting at the beautiful musty old store in downtown Austin. There is ALWAYS something to be excited about.Lately Ive been shopping on their many Amazon storefronts, but if Im ever near a store I always stop in.This was my first visit to the 1960 store, and other than not smelling like an old musty bookstore it was excellent as expected. Books, graphic novels, LPs (and 45s), CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray, many Collectors books and more.They also buy your books (and records and movies)!Do yourself a favor and seek out a Half Price Books near you!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great place to sell and get rid of books just laying around your house! I brought in 3 large boxes at one time and they were so quick and fast at looking over all of them and giving me an offer. They will even keep and get rid of the things they don’t pay you for which is a bonus! Another great thing is that they take dvds, games, etc!! Definitely come here to bring things after a house clean out!
Theyre no longer buying books at this location. You can try the Copperfield or Humble locations.
This experience was a little better than last time but not by very much. The last time, we brought in 3 bags of books and for 13 books they only offered us $7.00, which Im sure would be sold at a much higher price. So we didnt accept the offer and took the books back. I asked a female employee at the register if I could use a basket to take the books back to my car and she stated, If youll bring it back. Just ignorant to even say something like that to a customer. I worked for the Harris County sheriffs Department for 22 years making $60,000 a year. What the hell do I need a grocery store basket for? Shell probably steal it before we need it again. Today, we brought the same books back and this time they offered us $4.00 for the same books as last time. And the clerk said, if we wanted to, we could donate the ones they couldnt buy. Ha, Im sure we could, but NOT! Ridiculous. I wont waste time going back there. Theyll probably be closed down soon anyway like the rest of the businesses in the area.
Ive always liked Half Price Books. This is not the largest one, but they do have a great YA section. Lots of good options for adults too, new and old. Staff was very friendly.
Got a decent offer for my books and records but the attitudes of most of the employees was very off putting. They either don’t acknowledge you or speak in a very clipped tone. It’s obvious they don’t like their jobs.Two employees looked at me as I approached the register and but didn’t stop their conversation so I moved on to the next register where that employee seemed annoyed that I had walked up and interrupted him. He said two words to me as well. I won’t be returning to this location again.
So much BIGGER than the Humble location! More jazz and classical albums as well. Picked up some cheap blurays also. Highly recommend!

I like half price books so any time Im near one I try to stop in and see what they have. Im on their mailing list. I like going so that I can save me some money. They always have good deals and their books are organized fairly well. The people are friendly at this location. I noticed they have a lot of books in there and its in a nice area.I prefer going to them over other book stores.
This is one of my happy places. My mom and I come here very often, and I’m always finding great deals on books and vinyls. The staff is always friendly as well. And sometimes you can snag some really interesting/rare finds for a good price.
My daughter finds great deals on used mystery books! My other daughter loves their journals and sketchbooks! My husband and I love finding old DVDs for $5 or less--rewatching them with our kids makes for great conversation and affordable fun family time!
This is a pretty good place, just in an undesirable location. However, I always find what I need here and if I dont, the staff is willing to help out if they can. Lots of cool things like wall signs, video games, music records, books on so many topics, and toys/cute items. Never crowded, but people are browsing around every time I go. Ive been many times over the years and will continue to visit.
One of my favorite places to go when Im out with the kids. Its hard to leave empty handed because their prices are so low you cant pass it up!! Always clean. Staff is always there to help you find your new adventure
Last night we went to this location and sold some of our books. Had a bunch of them left but they didnt have time to go through all of them because they were closing. I got there about 30 minutes before. So they lady said we had alot of really good books and she wanted to see what else we had but they were closing. So this morning we went to let them look at the rest and the lady doing the books said we had alot of damaged and old books. Wow so she paid 10 dollars for some and wanted what for us to donate the rest? I think it was to much of a pay out so she didnt want to. These dont look like water damaged to me
It was always one of the favorite places to go with my children. Now sad that it’s close.
Awesome selection of books, calenders, notebooks and unique journals. They also offer unique accessories (wearables), such as socks, reading glasses, button pins, and more.... Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They have seating and tables for your convenience. It does not offer a coffee shop or snacks, but they do offer a lot for a very reasonable prices. Lots of specials/sales on lots of items.
Always love this store. The customer service is excellent and they have a lot of books to pick up, new or used at great prices.
Half Price Books is a MUST for book lovers! I bring my kids here and we always walk out with everyone happy and finding multiple items we love. They also have way more than books. Gifts, dvds, vinyl records, toys... also the clearance section it next to none. And they always have the titles I am looking for! I would definitely recommend coming to half price first before spending more money at Barnes and Noble.
Love this place! The prices are great & the employees are always helpful if you cant find what you are looking for. It is free for them to transfer books from there other locations if they do not have it in stock. It is quiet & your wallet wont hurt leaving this place. Lol
I had not been to this location in a few years lots of improvements. Great selection of books they had what I was looking for. Great children section lots to chose from. Its Very laidback and quiet, employees were nice and helpful. I will shop here again.

Big store that is very well organized with a selection of both new and mostly used items. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. They have a huge selection of books, CDs, vinyl albums, video games, DVDs, board games and various accessories. They have a buyer program for used books, games, DVDs, etc. with fair prices. There is a really nice great buys and clearance section at the back of the store with a decent selection. This is definitely one of my favorite places to visit frequently!
This is my local half priced books. They always have a great selection and most of the employees are very nice when you call to ask if a book is in stock. The store stays clean and they have a lot of reading space available. Some workers can be a bit snappy when youre checking out, but other than that, its still my favorite local book store.
Good for book lovers almost for all age group as their desires, reasonable priced, good collection of all kind of books but they need to add some masters level books also IT, and Data science related books.
Very well-organized with an appealing layout. Fun to browse through records and comic books as well as many fiction and nonfiction titles. I was pleased to see a good selection of appealing 2020 calendars that were half the retail price. Good place to go to browse or shop.
I have been coming here since I was 7 years old, I love the store & staff are always helpful when needed. But today I did not have the best experience, i spent about 30 minutes browsing the store & everything was great! It was at checkout that I was totally disappointed. My spouse & I walked up to the register where there was a cashier who just ignored us completely & didn’t bother to look up until we started unloading our stuff on the counter, he walked over & didn’t even say hello, I had a dvd I wanted to price check because it had no price tag or the movie inside even but i thought maybe they had it at the counter so that’s why i took it up, he rudely said “What is this? There’s nothing inside.” And just shook the empty case at me, he seemed bothered so I didn’t say anything else, paid, took my receipt & left. By far my worst experience here.
Great place to find some great books, movies, & audio at a great price... Not the best place to sell your merchandise.. They gave you next to nothing and half the things they will not take unless donated. Youre better off donating to other organizations where you can get a write off receipt amd apply to your taxes.

I called this morning and had a lengthy list of titles I wanted, the kind store associate stated on the phone patiently with me as she excitedly found the books I needed and was willing to help me find more. She also went as far as to save all of the novels at the register for me for up to 4 days. When I came to pick up the books, the staff was so pleasant and extremely helpful in helping me find even more books! Everyone in the store seems to really love what they do and helping their guests. Plus the prices were perfect. The store should be called quarter priced books, because they are more than affordable. I will definitely be returning!

The facility was very well organized and clean. The staff had a very positive and friendly manner. I was also greatly impressed but the volume of video games they had on hand at this location. Nothing super rare or even uncommon but a vast selection for 5th generation and up gaming platforms. Their movie selection was very well organized and vast aswell. However I cannot speak for the book selection because I rarely enter a half priced books for their books.
I had books that I did not need anymore. So I went here to let them buy my books from me. They did not buy all of my books because they were worn but would find a good place to donate them for me. I have never been into one of these stores. I usually buy new. This stop is a game changer. This store was clean, organized and the people were helpful. They have books that are still selling new at other book stores. I was shocked at what all I could get for a cheaper gently used book! I will from now on stop here first! Thanks for your help!
I had 2 bags of books that was in great condition and only received $1 and a few cents for the books. When they resell the books they sell for much more than they give you for bringing them in for resell.
I finally have a place to take all my old books and find new ones to enjoy without spending a ton. The staff are helpful and friendly and they dont mind looking up a book to see if they have it in stock.
The man with the beard in the book buying area was extremely rude. My husband and I walked in to try and sell some books and before we had even spoken two words to him, he yelled at us very rudely- “YOU TWO ARE GONNA HAVE TO WAIT AN HOUR. SET THE BOOKS DOWN.” And started rolling his eyes. We ended up just leaving because we didn’t want to have to deal with someone so condescending. Someone train this man in customer service because he was awful!
Large place with tons of books! The kids and I can be there for hours. Im sad they did away with the tables and chairs though and wish there was maybe a small sitting or reading designated spot by the kids books area.. Also needs more Spanish selection.
Super interesting store. They have a good amount of antique books and vinyls. The prices are very good and theres even a nice little place to read in the center of the store. Would definitely come again, 10/10.
Originally went there to return new books I purchased for school that I did not use and no longer needed, only to find out for 2 perfectly new books, it would be 3.50... what the hell!!😵😒 I did find a good business book on the clearance shelf for $3.00 tho!

This location has a massive inventory, good prices, but incredibly rude staff. The lady checking us out didnt speak to us except to tell us our total and another staff member was very rude answering our question about holds.

Price bookstore is your one stop great bookstore for your convenience of magazines movies video games businesses any kind of title that you want so if you are reader like I am or a researcher like I am or Rider like I am please stop by look around at the great convenience of everything that they have. And if they do not have it they were very much purchase it for you so slow down stop a while take your shoes off grabbed a hot cup of cocoa or some warm tea I read your favorite novel or or magazine. I went here with a bin full of new and new conditioned books. They offerd me $5 dollars!!! $5!!!! WORST store ever, they give people pennies for brand new books. Then resell them for 100x the profit. Ill NEVER come back to this store or any of its other franchises.
Great store. Just dont waste your time trying to sell them your used books. They reject most of them. I give them away to rest homes now instead.
Ive sold them a lot of books. Sometimes they pay decent prices. Other times they seem to be trying to rip me off. Seems the more books i bring at a time the less they try to pay me. Usually about a 30 minute wait for them to go through and reviw the books. If you dont like the prices offered, you can always try another half price books and they will give you a different offer.
Conveniently located and a lot of fun. Their variety of books, comics, and records is great. The prices are all quite reasonable. I have got some great deals here!
I love having a place that I can buy books for a good price that are in good condition. My favorite place is the discount section of the store where books are 1,2,3$! They have perfectly conditioned books that are like new, and even mainstreamed books for practically nothing! It’s a very clean store as well.

Came in with over 100 books to sell. Waited 1 hour and 14 mins. Finally called back and they gave me $.1 yes a Penny for a book. Such a joke. I’m not sure if the gal even looked up all the books for pricing. I think she just wanted to be done.I won’t be back. Poor customer service, slow and such a joke on book buy.

I have never had a problem when coming here. They always have what I am looking for and the staff is always friendly. They have re vamped the sections so its easier to find things. Prices are reasonable and its neat to see the collectable that are displayed for sale.
This location is close so its our go too. They have always been consistent and reliable for us, whether were buying or selling. They do what they do well and are bigger than many other locations in size, so chances are good to find what youre looking for here. Recommend!

Half priced books is just an relaxing environment for book lovers or even if you just need a place to get away for a little bit. As well as purchasing books you can also sell your books to them as long as theyre are in a pretty good condition.
Interesting gamut of things available as always: books (of course), videos, games, records and CDs, collectibles, manga, and art. Large clearance section that always yields at least one buyable thing. Pleasant salespeople. Still hate selling books to them, because they kill you every time. On the other hand, you can buy a yard of remaindered hardcover books from them for a pittance, which is always a fun thing.
Great selection, great prices..staff is a bit aloof but I cant help but be happy every time I walk by the store and see the owners reading...these people have a serious love of books and their collection is quite diverse.

They advertise that they buy your boois but they barely buy any books at all. Its pretty much a waare of time to haul books there if you want any money. Dont get me wrong, I love the store to shop for books but never to sell again.

The location itself needs some TLC. Its not unusual for the restrooms to be out of order or for the AC to be broken. My last visit the AC was out so it was stuffy and the ladies restroom reeked of sewage odor. I love the book and DVD selection, but I have learned not to rely on their restroom here :/

This is a nicely laid out store with a pretty good selection. We found several childrens books on clearance that are in excellent condition and very reasonably priced. I will be making another trip to shop here!

I didnt know this location existed! Ive been shopping HPB for about 16 years now and Im as pleased to step in the door today as I was the first time round. Prices have changed dramatically on vinyl records (thanks discogs) but that doesnt deter me from thumbing through a locations entire selection. Anywho, this particular store offered a wide variety of cuts I dont typically see for sale - without a doubt Ill be back!

If you love books you will love this place , the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable they didnt have the series of books I was looking for but they offered to check out other local stores , they also have a great selection of old record albums

The experience was good. I went there to sell my books thought I would get more for what I spent on them but that all good.
Prices compared to other half price locations are ridiculously too high. And staff did not greet me and others, obviously they are selective in their friendliness. Also nothing seems to get marked down and atmosphere wasnt very welcoming. I would not recommend going unless you want to pay near retail.
Their offers are total jokes, I went in with Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer in new condition along with 5 other books in the same condition and they offered me $7. Rather just let them sit in my shelves.
Ive been to three different locations and they are always helpful. They will also pull a book and hold for you if you call ahead. I wish they gave a bit more on the buybacks but I appreciate that they have the service. Theyll recycle the books for you if they dont buy it. This is helpful so you dont have to carry them back home.

Went in to sell some DVDs and cds. They ssid they wait would be about 45 minutes, which was fine, but they took out the seating for covid. And you have to wait in the store. If you gonna make me wait that long how about a place to sit!@
We enjoyed our visit immensely. We came to sell a bunch of dvds,. While we waited with our 2 giant puppies, we perused through the stacks and interacted with a lot of friendly folks. Did you know that HPB is DOG-FRIENDLY? We did not know until today!! How cool is THAT? WEe made a fair price for our dvds too. Love this place madly.

My wife bought a very expensive Mayhem vinyl album there and was told it was rare and it was in very bad condition for the price. We returned the other day only to find out that they had another one in mint condition. Not happy with that outcome, prices are close to new on used and worn out products. There is nothing Half price about it. I highly recommend to anyone not to shop there.

Selling books is first come, first serve and there were 4 people ahead of me. Told it would probably be a 45 minute wait. I picked out my books in half an hour and just picked my items back up (and will probably just donate as you dont get much $ and not worth the time).
If youre going to sell books they ask that you wait in the building. It would be nice if they could give you an estimate of how long it will take them to process the customers books in line ahead of you so youre free to take care of other errands.
Half Price Books never disappoints. This location seemed to have more old paperbacks than another location I visited. Very diverse collection, and as always, great prices.

Ive sold books to them for several years now. Very friendly staff. Now, they dont let you use their dolly, they help you bring in big boxes. They have a huge selection of everything youd find in a typical bookstore. Their prices are reasonable. If youre selling books, go early and be prepared to wait at least an hour as there are usually several people in line and you must stay in the store until your offer is complete.

Homeschool mom who loves to go in and just look around. I will often get lesson ideas from a book i see that they have on display. Found an awesome Walk this World at Christmas book on a display and turned it into a lesson, it was so fun!
Just what the sign says half price, but good condition!!! Will be coming here again. I just wish they had a book we went there for. They said they have it at another location but.... wanted to find it there. And to order it would take 2 weeks. Thats great if you dont need the book right away

The store is awesome. You can find great deals here on books, movies, music and games. You will not get much money selling them your old books or music but that keeps prices down and also repurposes old books that dont end up in a landfill.

I will come here 100% of the time, before going to a main chain retail new book store. As an avid book collector, used book stores are a double edged sword. Which is very evident here. Great place to buy not so much to sell.

I dont think Ive ever had a bad experience in the all the years Ive been coming. The people who work here have always been nice, polite, helpful even funny sometimes. This is one of my favorite places.

Tons of manga here! Good rotation of stock across comics, manga, fantasy, and other fiction. Great selection of games too, movies, anime, toys, board games, theres so etching for everyone.
They have good stock the books are a reasonable price also, they sell childrens books, games, DVDs but, if you ask and they dont have what you want they will check there other stores for you.
Always find interesting physical media including books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, VHS, rare finds, and more! If you are old fashioned like me and make every effort to boycott the digital age, then this place is for you! HPB also provides their customers with lots of coupons!

I love half price books and this location in particular. They half a seemingly endless supply of cheap books in good quality.
If they dont have my books they always know when theyre coming in. I love the peace and quiet they have in their store and I always have people that are willing to help me nice customer service.

If you still enjoy picking up and reading a good book, it doesnt get much better as far as price. They also buy books but I found the staff is not helpful and even grumpy on more than one occasion.
They say I was looking for a book and they order the book for me and it was wonderful I recommend them anytime

My son was looking for a particular book first the lady took him to two wring sections where the book might be then she finally looked up the one he wanted and found they dont have it he also took some of his and mines reading material to sell about 20 books after a hour the elderly woman called us up said they could only take 4 books abd offered him 1.50 for the 4 i asked about the novels abd series books she said we just cant take them but if you leave them we can donate them. I said thats ok ill just take tgem my self he loves 📚 truthfully I will take him but maybe to another store
I always pick up a new used book here whenever I stop in. Ive been visiting since I was a kid and to this day I still love it.
Great books for cheap. Wide selection, with the classics alongside unknowns, ranging from history to fiction to religious. Theres a nice seating area for reading, and the staff is kind.
This is my favorite store, they have all kind of books and vinyls on a fair price and the good thing is that when you finish reading the book you can sell the back to them !

2022-01-08This is a lovely bookstore that has all the charm a bookstore could have. If anybody has a problem with this store, send them my way.The concept of a bookstore is amazing. You go in, explore the billions of pages available within the thousands of books in the store, and decide which book you would like to take home to continue learning about endless topics forever. How cool is that!

2020-10-04*Follow me on my Google account for more reviews.Clean and organized. Staff were very nice, especially at the Sell your books here, counter. They still accept books to purchase, but only at a certain time of the day so I recommend you call first to find out what time they do it at your local store. You must wear a mask when entering and browsing in the store.

2022-04-04Drive 4 miles and arrive at 12:15 pm. Lights on inside, but door is locked and the store is supposed to open at 11:00 pm. Many people stop by, walk to the door and look in, bit no one comes to open the door. Wait about 15 minutes and still more customers stopping by, but the workers apparently don’t care. Or whoever is responsible, should be relieved of their duties

2021-05-19When it comes to books, definitely check this place out. Last time I was here, I got myself an old yet useful Home Depo book. It was old, but worth it since most Home Depo stores have the stuff listed in the book. Yall check it out and browse around. And yes, they sell games and movies.

2022-04-04Always love visiting half-price bookstores when I find them. This was a new one I havent been to two before but was able to go in. The place was clean very easy to get around easy to find things and very enjoyable to visit. I found several things that I just had to take home with me. Didnt intermingle with the staff as much but the checkout was pleasantUpdate: still nice and clean. Like how well organized it is. Found several items that I just had to have. It was fun to listen to several other customers as they shared how good this movie or book was and how somebody ought to get it.Update 2: super sad. The rent for the building was too high and they are closing this half price bookstore. It had the best religious selection by far of any I had been to and a super assortment of dvds. Unfortunately today April 4th is the last day and they are closed. Sad day

2022-03-29Ive loved this location since years and it was the most convenient as I lived minutes from this location.. Ive found so many great musical albums, bookmarks, and books here. Truly upset that theyre closing.

2019-10-17The staff is everywhere but not in your face. Very knowledgeable and helpful. My daughter and I sit and browse through books for hours. They have games, records, small toys, journals, calendars, posters, new and used books. Not just a book store. You can sell your books for store credit to get more books. Its always clean and organized.
