Always plenty of books and games and other fun things. I could always spend HOURS here. Only complaint is the ridiculously low ball offers for books you sell. Seriously. A whole $2 for at least 20 books of assorted subjects in perfect condition. LAME. Desperate and couldnt even get a gallon of gas with their change... Dont waste your time unless you have collectibles etc.
I purchased 4 books from this specific branch of half price books with 40 dollars, and when I wanted to resell the same books back to them, they offered me $1.75. They are basically ripping people off. Never again.

I *still* love this place... found a series i had read one book of a long time ago, and they had all four! Cant wait to start Confederation of Valor, Tanya Huff, again.I love this place! Its currently covid friendly, fully stocked and wonderfully priced! Books, games, puzzles and more. Because of HPB, Ive been able to get books in the hands of more students, get more students excited about coming to the library to build and make, and sometimes sneak a cool book into the hands of a non reader! Win Win!
Went in looking for a self-help/business/entrepreneurial book. Left with a giant first edition book or Norman Rockwell prints. So, if you like pleasantly geeky surprises, this is your jam.
Ive never been to another book store quite like this one before. Its got books, games, manga, a whole lot of stuff and for the best deals too! Ive just bought the Halo Reach Legendary Edition from there for only 50$, and I had everything still in it, including the flaming helmet code!!! 10/10 would shop there again.

Half Price Books has been a part of my life since childhood and I greatly appreciate the plethora of fantastic books at great prices. I was recently in the store with my young children and I came across exotica books on the main aisle of the store with graphic nude covers face forward for any child to walk by and view. This aisle is on the direct path to the childrens section. Children have a legal right to be protected from pornographic images. When I asked a store clerk about this selection and why it was face front for kids to view nude photographs they shut down any conversation with me and told me to remove it would be censorship. I was not asking them to remove the book from the store but rather use wisdom and judgement as to what books should have their covers displayed. It was a very disappointing conversation as it was one sided and their store would not engage in a healthy conversation but rather told me to not bring my kids in here. Great, we will be doing just that and telling all of our book loving friends to do the same as we choose to take out business elsewhere from here on out.

I love going into this store. Always very clean and neat. I cant believe the quality of the used books. They are great. People that work there are very nice and very helpful. Overall a great 2 hours. Maybe next time I will go alone so I dont feel rushed.

Love this store. The staff is very good at answering your questions or finding any books for you. You could call them in advance and they will also hold a book for you for 2-3 days.
Employees are really nice and very helpful. There is so much to look at and its a trip down memory lane as they have tons of items of nostalgia throughout the store. Records, cassette tapes, comics, books, journals, too many things to list! Its a fun place to spend some time.

I was able to call ahead and have them hold a book for me. They also offered curbside vs. coming inside. I opted for inside to I could search for something else. I was also able to schedule an appointment so that I could bring some of my own books to sell.Service was quick and the staff was really polite and helpful. They had tape on the ground for social distancing purposes. The store was clean and overall it was a really good experience.

Love this half price books, but be careful when purchasing movies. Make sure to check that all disc are included though we made that mistake, and had to return a lord of the rings collectors edition because we, and the cashier missed it.
Havent been into Half Price Books in a while and so glad I stopped in. I had books and videos to sell, and they were super kind even though I brought more than the limit (limit of 2 bags of books due to reduced staffing). Always great to see the awesome selection and I know that they offer a fair price on the books they buy back, along with recycling those they wont buy.

The only shop in all of Austin to have all the Shaft movies. I checked everywhere else but luckily, with a huge selection and plenty of variety, I have no problem driving 45 mins out of my way to this one location solely based on what they buy from the consumer. It seems that half prices books at many locations just pick the generic boring stuff to receive and thats why this location sets its self at the top. Thank you for picking awesome stuff to stock your store with because I love coming in. Do yourself a favor, skip all the other stores, just go straight to this one, chances are their staff picked out what you want and are looking for!
Good store had good selection of books, movies both dvd and bluray. There were some but not thqt many ultra high definition or 4k. Store was well light up with friendly employees and staff. The store is located in the back corner of the shopping plaza or area. Drive past other store including Walmart or home depot to find half price b%ooks at the corner of the shops. Do NOT visit this half-priced books. The employees are aweful, and countless times I’ve to find anything I’ve been looking for. I have patronized this place many times and have had a couple of almost pleasant experiences, and innumerable disappointing experiences.I was in this store looking for an atlas today, after having been to 4 other stores looking for the archaic volume, but I’ll never know whether or not they stock them because the employees were so rude to me that I left before making it 20 paces into the store. Their tone in speaking was condescending and irritated and the manner in which they handled “customer service” was atrociously unprofessional.
Amazing place for books and everything popculture. If you are at the North Lamar location ask for Russel or Elizabeth they are simply amazing.
I sold some books. They were very organized. The offer seemed low. $5 for about 10 books. I looked at books while I waited. They had some decent video games for a reasonable price. The carts they provided were helpful getting the books in the store. They rejected buying some of my older books, textbooks, and map books.
This is by far my favorite Half Price Books location. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Katelyn (spelling?) was great! She not only took the time to really help me, she even came back again to check on me to see if I needed more help. They have an excellent selection and a clean store!

I can come into this relaxing, quiet atmosphere and be absorbed for hours! The wide selection of offerings are that good. The staff are so helpful whenever you have a general idea of what you are looking for, but nothing specific in mind. Need a gift for someone? These folks always can offer several suggestions. My only reason for giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that while they will buy most books from you, they give you only a *very small* fraction of the price they will turn around and sell it for, so youre probably better off donating used books to Goodwill, who will give you a receipt for tax purposes and still sell them at better prices. I love buying new books here, though. The customer service here is definitely praiseworthy!
Staff could do a better job of speaking to customers as they walk in the door. It wasn’t busy when we went. We were maybe the 3rd & 4th people in the store at opening. I saw a worker pushing a cart.. and she didn’t speak or ask if I needed help.

I love this bookstore! Great selection and atmosphere, staff are friendly but not in a pushy sort of manner. I found what I was looking for for my last visit. Store is well kept and clean. They will buy books back from customers based on what the store can offer, depending on what is being sold, considering that they want to keep books at low prices, and other related factors. The location is easy to get to, close to other stores and restaurants included. There is very good parking. I do wish they had a little coffee/tea station in store, some half price stores have that. Thats something I would like to suggest if possible. 😊 But awesome place!!
Nice, clean, peaceful book store. Smaller than other Half Price Books Ive been to but still a great selection, none the less. You can find a lot of great buys here.......ESPECIALLY in the clearance section! Another bonus is the fact they stay open until 10, and 9 on Sundays. Love it!!!

Great place to feed a book addiction 😁 Our whole family loves this place and really all Half Price Books. We enjoy checking out their clearance along with all their books, graphic novels, movies, and random other things they carry. We always leave with a pile of books! Staff are always polite and helpful also.
They carry a nice selection of books and other media. The aspect of Half Price Book Store is that I can buy books that I wanted in the past, but I had to put off buying them. Now I can easily buy three books for the price of the original book and increase the size of my library and reading enjoyment.
Can always find a good deal here. More than just a bookstore, they have entertainment items, games, cards, collectibles, toys, music. One of the nice thing as is that they will buy your used books if you dont need them anymore. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and is usually not too busy to answer questions. The location is also very convenient for shopping around.
Half Price Books is a neat place to browse, but I usually dont find a whole lot of selections that jump out to pique my interest. There is a wide variety of books, movies, games, etc. here, so take some time to look around. If youre going to sell anything to them, be prepared to get relatively little back from them. I understand they have to make a profit, and much of the stuff they may not even be able to sell, but for a few like-new hardbacks I only got back 2 or 3 dollars total.

This is my favorite chain store in America since I love books and records at fair prices. It is relaxing to go there, a lot like going fishing on a beautiful Spring day! You just might catch a fish that you never knew existed! Or you might find the one that got away so many years ago!
What can I say? Books at half price! Of course its awesome. You can also bring your dog, if I am not mistaken. I wish they had more places to sit and check out books but they do have a table you can sit at. They have a large selection of books, from baby books to adults.

I always find a great bargain.Never sold any books or anything here, but you can usually find pretty good deals and theyve got a decent selection.Several of my favorite authors are out of print, and Ive been lucky enough to have been able to find several books here.Theyve got a large vinyl selection as well, which is awesome :)
Cheaper than most major outlets, but not even close to half as the name would leave you to believe. I had to cut my library by 2/3 and initially took several hundred books here to sell. The amount they offer is insulting. I ended up donating them to the local library. I dont mind them making a buck, but considering their selling price on all but trash paperbacks someone is making more than that. Doesnt feel right. Still, love books and bookstores so go there and spend a few hours digging through things. Eventually they will lose to electronic formats based on cost alone which is sad. Nice employees. Very chill and no shushing. Some amount of shushing should be expected. Nope.
Always something new to find. Ive been going here for years and though I see new staff a lot, all are friendly and willing to help. My children love browsing the Clearance movie section. Great atmosphere, great staff, fun events. There is extra parking around the side/back of the store.

They say half price books but the book I bought for my son was 50% more than Amazon. Fantasy selection was terrible. Nothing for first/second graders.
This place always has a good atmosphere and excellent prices. Most of the books are only lightly used and at a good discount from the bigger stores. Definitely gives you that sense of treasure hunting as you can occasionally find true gems.
I went today not realizing I couldnt browse for books. Employee popped out told me about email or calling for books. Called and the employee was kayla or Katie. I gave her the authors and how many books I wanted. Told her needed for mom. She took the time to pick out book series and really took care getting my moms books. You rock! Bless you!
Good prices on used books. Organization of the shelves can be challenging as customers dont put stuff back in the same place and employees dont have time to clean up afterwards. Staff is also generally unavailable to help you find something. Other than that its a nice store.
I love this store. Michelle is such a friendly person and so knowledgable of the books in the store. It is a comfortable and friendly place to commiserate. I am looking forward to the day when it reopens again. All those at Half Price books stay well. You are missed.
Half Price Books really is for everyone. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Theyre also very knowledgeable and willing to help you look for something at other area stores. Always check the clearance section for interesting treasures. DVD clearance usually has some childhood gold for just a few dollars!
Human error! It happens but its a bit worse when you order a book online (book #2 of a set of 2). I paid the postal delivery charge and the package was addressed to me correctly but when I opened it the book was wrong (a cutlery book instead of a personal memoir) and the receipt inside was for a person 3 or 4 states east of here. I called the shipping store, where the error occurred, and was told I must call the corporate customer service department. The customer service lady Georgie was very helpful and apologetic. She found a copy at another store and said she would have it shipped out expedited. So, its looking better!January 24 2020 (Update): I finally received BOTH books! Delivered in the same delivery! In excellent shape! Unnecessarily stressful but alls well that ends well they say.
Great selection of books!They have a great sale going on right now. You get 25 dollars in get cards and get a five dallar one for you. I loved it because I got all the nieces and nephews a card so they could pick out there own things.

Solid selection of books, ok customer service, and decor is left wantingThe organization of their book system is truly admirable since such random amounts and assortments of books go in on a daily basis. The buyback system is an outright robbery for the customer but understandable to keep business afloat. Some of the staff will be very helpful while others will be much less so. Continuity and customer service training should fix that. And the decor... where to start; let’s just say that a place filled with knowledge of nearly every subject should reflect a vision that inspires wonder and curiosity for the readers (not a stuffy place that looks like an elementary school library from 1995).
We always love coming here, its a great store to take the kids and unwind a little. With technology taking over, its refreshing to see such dedication from a book store like this to keep timeless books still relevant. Also, a great place for Christmas shopping as well!! Good job guys, keep it up!
I went to explore. Just found my new place to buy blank journals. A lot of fun exploring the selection of books. I am definitely going to explore more Half Price Books in the future.They have video games, DVDs, and records if you look for that kind of stuff.
I had never been to Half Price books before so, I probably had higher expectations as it pertains to selling books. However, as an avid reader, I had a ton of books, all in excellent condition, all hardbacks, that I needed to get rid of ( $500.00+ ) in what I spent on them over the years. I waited for over an hour for them to give me an offer of an amazing $21.00 for ALL of them. Not worth the gas to drive up there or the time it took me to pack up, load and then carry in. Would have been better off taking to Goodwill and taking a tax write off for way more that what they offered. Never again.
Very reminiscent of Books-a-Million or Second & Charles but much more cozy and even more book-focused. Found some good deals (even compared to Amazon prices!) and was very happy to pick up a copy of Bourdains No Reservations.
Virtually all used bookstores on the planet are worthless. They cant manage inventory. They keep books nobody wants, and they sell the books everybody wants for far too little. HPB doesnt do this. They know how to manage inventory, and they do it. They put reasonably prices on all their books, ditching the duds. The result is that you are guaranteed to find books that are useful and relevant, but still at great prices.
Great place to lose a little time and find a new favorite author it pick up a new cookbook.Bonus: bathrooms are always clean and well-stocked.

Very unique store with lots more than just half price books. They will also buy you older, gently used books and music records (LPs) without scratches please. They were so sweet.
Turned in a big shopping cart full of hardback books with another 6 or so paperbacks. Staff went through the books to check age, condition, & local desirability. They found some pics of my grandsons & saved them for me. I was paid in cash before I left the store. Recycle those reads & get great books, puzzles, music & comics at a good discount
They have many books in just about every category you could think of. The store and restrooms are clean. They have books, movies, CDs, arts and crafts gift kits, how-to videos and more at great prices. The staff is friendly and will let you linger around while you sit and read.
They helped me alot by providing me a book for my Reading class,l and at a really good price too. I got Maus by Art Spiegelman and wouldve paid 13-19$ on Amazon but, I spent 7.49$ for the same paperback. Not to mention they also have a Neat selection of books, games and records.
This place is awesome! So much selection of a variety of genres and mediums for reading. Theres also new items here so good to find a unique gift or stocking stuffers. Their greeting card selection is funny as well.
Surprisingly, it had the exact book I needed for my class at a much lower cost than buying it new! This store always has nice books to surprise you with. I even found an old videogame from my childhood there a few months ago and it made my whole week.
I loved the French selection. They have many adults and childrens books in French! Also my husband loved the selection for board game books, especially for learning Go. Great little store and the people were very helpful and nice.
Always a great visit. Only problem is we dont have one in the killeen/ ft hood area. So a bit of a trip, yet always find good selection of kids books. Always have the warhammer novels I happen to be looking for. Comic selection is pretty varied as well.

It is a nice place to look around and take your time. The employees are real nice and helpful. There is one cute dark haired girl employee who works there, I didnt catch her name but was really sweet. Now is one of my favorite half price book locations in central Texas.

Anything and everything you are looking for. I got a D&D handbook and some records, both reasonably priced. If you take books in to sell to them, they wont give you much for them, but buying is great for everyone.

The staff is cool, not too hipstery-standoffish and even though it might take them 100 years to find a particular title, they almost always have something worth buying. Sign up for their newsletter and youll get coupons and announcements. These stores are awesome.This one is a bit cozier than others, but thats fine by me. Its not dirty and we even scored a great blu-ray collection for 30 bucks. Great record buys as well!
They have an amazing selection of books, CDs, audiobooks, and so much more. We had no problem at all finding a certain book that we needed for school. And also the staff were very nice and down to earth 👍
I love getting books here! There are two sections of parking, one by Ross and PetsMart, and the other kind of behind the building. Half Price Books employees are always really helpful, no matter how busy they are and do a really good job monitoring and adjusting the number of checkers they need.
Lots of choices at good prices, but good luck if you need finding anything. I was looking for a book on unicorns for my granddaughter and the girl could only suggest My Little Pony, because theyre KIND of like unicorns. No sweetie, they are not.

Half priced books is awesome I love coming and buying game guides and regular books to add to my collection. The half priced books in Austin are easily some of the best. If you are visiting Austin make sure you check out this location.
I frequently shop their well organized store for movies, music, and books all at deep discount. I used to buy comics here too when they bagged and boarded them, but they have stopped doing this and most of their over stocked comic section is in really ratty and poor condition due to kids bending the tops of them all, not worth looking through.
Why did I love it? Books, books, and more books. Also friendly amd helpful staff. They even let my child pay for her stuff and bagged it for her. She was treated like a little lady and she loved it.
I love, love, love this store. I could spend a Long time looking at the books as well as the other merchandise. The staff is always ready to help locate a book if you are having trouble. They usually have a copy of the book I am looking for, however not always in paperback which I prefer.

I come here for the vinyl records. I can spend a good couple of hours going through them. Especially the bargain bin on the floor level. Have to shift through 100s of Paul Ankas and fluff records from the 60s but youll find a gem now and then. I picked up a germs album for buck 😁.
It was beautiful inside, well organized with a helpful staff. Also, had a vintage appeal with a variety of new, used and clearances books! Had many rare items for sale too that made it quite unique!
Love this store! It can be a little overwhelming there are so many choices. I havent explored the whole store, but the sections I am interested in are well stocked and organized well. It can be a little difficult to get assistance, but all you have to do is go to the counter and they will get you help.
This half Price books is a decent size with a good selection of books and frequently has clearance events. I wish it was in a better location, its kind of tucked into the corner of a busy strip of big businesses.

My to go to bookstore. Great selection and for most part great staff. The selling process is easy although the money you may receive may not be what you expect. Nice store. Should have a coffee store within it or somewhere to sit though.
After bringing in 7 bags full of good book and magazines I was told it would be 40 minutes before my offer was ready. I said I was going to Home Depot for 5 minutes and the clerk said I could not leave or I had to take my books with me. Thats with everyone. I had to stay until my offer was ready. Donate you things to salvation Army or goodwill. Fracking horrible horrible. customer service.
This was my first visit to half priced books and I wad pleasantly surprised. I really dont read books that often but ended up walking out of here with 3 books. They have all kinds of stuff for a GREAT price.
The ultimate in green recycling!! A great selection and books that are no longer in print and give them a second or third life to many people are on a budget. It’s most affordable place at a reasonable price.
First time I had ever been to a half price books and was quite floored by the prices frankly. Went in looking for some reference books on North American plants, animals/animal tracks, and a large book of North American maps. Everybook I looked at was very expensive for a used book. I dont think I saw anything under $15, which seems very expensive for used books that I dont imagine have a huge buying audience.Seems like they look for the highest price they can find the book ever selling for and then charge half of that.Also they tend to put the price stickers right over the information blurb about the book on the back. Reminded me why I hadnt been in a physical bookstore I years.
The book selection here is surprisingly good, not quite that of Barnes and Noble, but the prices are much better. They also have a decent selection of movies, audio books, comics, and graphic novels.

I shop at this location for their record selection. Its not as good as stores in South Austin, but they still carry a decent selection of new and used vinyl.Store is always clean and the staff is friendly.
I love Half Price Books because you can find anything from journals to used books and Blu-ray, DVDs anything you could possibly think of. Childrens books even VHS videos they have just about everything and theyre all well priced, I love that.
I went there in the afternoon during the week looking to buy many Jack Reacher books by Lee Childs. After I was pointed in the correct aisle of the books, I was flying, picking many books up and trying to check them off of my long list. I saw an open and unused gray flat top on roolers to use. I turned away, then came back and found a male employee had brought a small red basket for my books and tossed all of the books, I had arranged in order, in the basket. I almost lost it, then walked away and took a deep breath. He never said sorry, then took the empty gray rolling tray away and sat it where it wad originally. I guess I could have asked him, but he so focused doing. He could have said anything and I would been ok with it. Very unprofessional, rude and so focused on what he was doing, organizing paper comic books. I mean Very focused as if no one else was in the store. Bad experience. I bought 12 damn books and left very Disappointed.
Its not too bad of a shopping experience for the classics , in books and music.
It has a great variety of books and movies its mostly a book store but you can get great movies there from Mary Poppins to Austin Powers to deadpool. Also stats open till 10 pm

Always a great selection, very friendly helpful people. Dont expect to make much off of selling your books to them, but when looking for books its a fantastic place.
This place does not have as much atmosphere as The Book Spot in Round Rock however it is larger and so there is more with regards to selection. I found everything that I came in to look for and it was pretty cheap considering how many books I bought.I would have given this location 4 stars but when I used the restroom the sink would not turn on. I went into the other restroom that they had and the sink was broken there as well. Because I already had soap on my hands I had to wash my hands in the water fountain. I thought it was a pretty funny situation but also an inconvenience.

I dont often travel to Round Rock but this Half Price location is really great. I have been able to find some great DVDs that normally get snatched up quickly at the other stores and while the comic section isnt as large as the North Lamar store, they at least bag and board all thier issues and all are in alphabetical order. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
Did not expect the usual selection but did find something on my list. However, due to the mask requirement, my asthma, albeit mild, acted up and had to cut my visit short. Will not be back until the mask requirement is eliminated

Great discount for educators. Has a little something for everybody. Books for kids, books on religions, comic books, games, books for teens, books for adults. One of my favorite places to shop.
Always honest, hard to sell books to them, but very friendly and helpful. My daughter can get lost for hours amongst these books. Highly recommend them
Could not find anything on the Keto diet the books were by Author, I think was very time consuming to look at all the shelfs so so on the way out I found a couple of books on Keto on a end cap but they were full priced I could get them cheaper on Amazon.
This place is great. Something for everyone, as long as you love to read. Great staff, nice atmosphere, and somehow the books we need are always around. Do recommend.
This half price had a very slim collection of books so it wouldnt be where Id go if I wanted to get a lot of books on my wish list but it was still a fine place to check out whats available

Half Price Books in Round Rock is always an enjoyable visit. The offerings vary with their purchases which show a decent discretion toward quality. On a recent trip to find a few things for our preschool grandson--one about dinosaurs, one about bugs, and something with a bit of phonics--things that caught my eye included a history of modern warfare, The Post Office by Charles Bukowski, a book about Texas gardens, some old Asimov hard backs, a pictorial history of Williamson County, a pictorial history of California, and a clean hardcover of Human Action by Ludwig von Mises. With a little more time and money, I might have happily bought them all--at good prices.Thats the sort of feeling one hopes to take away from a bookstore. This store puts me in mind of some of the haunts I loved before Crown decimated the independent bookstores and Barnes & Noble and Borders swooped in to nurture our Stockholm Syndrome.

Do not sell your items to this store. Not honest people. They only wanted 30 DVD/CDS out of a box of 193 items. When I got there to pick up the unwanted items they had put them ALL away. ALL AWAY!!! After talking to the manager they only got me $20. I was robbed today at this store.
Half priced books is a great place to get used books. Service could be a little better, and its always good to check online because sometimes their prices are way over what you can buy things new.

2022-07-09Went with my kids 7 and 10 and let them pick out 7 books and paid less than 25, such a bargain and they were in like new condition they didnt even have cracked spines. Plus they had a wide selection of media (records, comics, DVD, cd, even laser disk) and board games.

2022-01-22I always find myself wondering through any half priced books store I come across. Why? Because they hold all the treasures. Ive visited many of them over the years and I never leave disappointed. Not to mention, Ive never had a bad experience at any of them! The staff is always super helpful and friendly. Anytime I see a Half Priced Books, my heart says .....go!!

2022-02-24I love Half Price Books more than Amazon. This store is no different. Great selection of new and used books, CDs and DVDs. I was able to find several fun tomes and scored a DVD TV series I had been looking for. Staff was awake and friendly (Not always the case at some HPBs). Store was big enough to have a lot of choices. Store was clean and well organized. Thank you.

2019-03-14What a neat store! Love the Star Wars stuff. They didnt have the book or the movie I was looking for - not unusual for a used book store - but it was quite nice just to browse around. I must say the clerks at this location are extremely attentive...extremely. Almost to the point of being slightly intrusive.
