My husband and I both had diabetic eye exam appointments scheduled with Dr Brice. The staff was awesome for us both. Helpful, efficient and very friendly and all of them had great manners. Our exams were great and we both liked Dr Brice. He explained everything to us, assured us that he would make sure to let our PCPs and endocrinolgist know his findings. We have already scheduled next years appointments. We highly recommend this facility.
Dr Brice and Nurses were friendly, My brother is special needs and they treated him very good. Thank you.

All of your staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr Carter was professional but kind and concerned.
The Doctors are nice and good at what they do however the nurses aren’t good with children. My 7 year old son came in and got the first part of the exam, I could tell it was hard on him focusing his eyes. He then got dilated and waited the 20 minutes. Once he got his second exam by the second nurse she got very irritated with him and even went so far as to tell him he was “lying”. For a young child to be in there focusing for that long WITH DILATED EYES to say he was lying instead of understanding that it was truly hard for him to see was beyond disgusting. She kept getting more and more irritated and switching the lenses faster and faster continuing to rush him. When I saw him pulling at his shorts and getting nervous I said “I’m sure it’s hard on him doing this for so long” her response was “that’s why we tell them to blink”. I’m sorry but blinking a couple times won’t help when your eyes are dilated and your being rushed and told you’re lying as a 7 year old child. When the doctor came in even she said “I’m sure everything is blurry to you “ and she was very kind and patient. It wasn’t our first visit there but it will be our last because of that nurse. I do not recommend her to ever be put with a child again. Unfortunately due to her I will be going to find a more child friendly clinic.
The workers here are all people persons. They are friendly and professional. Dr Brice did my exam, and then talked with me about his findings.

My kiddo can be a little fussy sometimes, and going to eye dr can be kind of scary for him, but they did impeccably well with him. All of the staff was patient, kind, took the time to explain procedures to him. The Dr that saw him was AMAZING! She had the most soothing vibe I have ever seen, so kind, I was VERY impressed with her. I think I even said to the nurse Wow! Shes awesome!. The entire staff, from the girls at the front desk to the nurses and the doctors are 5 stars all the way. Keep up the amazing work guys, people do notice.
Catherine is amazing! She was so relatable and didn’t judge me for not ever wearing my glasses... oops! She made everything so simple and took her time and made me feel like I wasn’t being rushed. Also, she is hilarious and will keep you laughing the entire time! Dr. Guenther is so sweet and will answer any questions you have. I highly recommend Heaton!

All Doctors and staff are wonderful. You feel as though you’re visiting family not just another doctors office.I have enjoyed going there for years. I moved out of the area seven years ago and I still drive 130 miles one way to go to my eye doctor.I would never trust anyone else with the care of my eyes or my surgeries.

After 2 ER visits on the same day, Dr. Hardin came to the rescue and opened up his doors to me on a Saturday. He did for me what the ER couldn’t. I was willing to drive one hour to follow up with him. Office is very clean and very helpful staff.
The experience was great. Friendly staff and love the doctor. Had a little bit of a wait because they were short handed but wasn’t bad. Would definitely recommend them for your vision needs.

Julia, a technician, is wonderful as are all the incredibly competent, patient and professional doctors, nurses technicians and administrators. Beautiful place to spend your time waiting for your appointment which wasn’t long. They were very professional and answered all my questions. They provided me with slip on’s sun protectors to leave since my eyes were dilated. I know many who go there who recommended them to me. If the time comes for surgery on my eyes I feel confident they will do a great job.

I just had my first visit to Heaton Eye Associates and Im thrilled with the care I received. The staff members I met are kind and knowledgeable. My new eye doctor is Dr. Guenther; she is wonderful. The Athens office is great and calming. There are rocking chairs and a beautiful aquarium in the waiting room. There is a beautiful waterfall down the hall leading to the exam rooms. The exam rooms are clean and comfortable. Looking forward to a long relationship with Heaton.
Beautiful office. Great, knowledgeable staff. Very personable. Dr Hardin was very thorough and best of all he listens to what you have to say. You don’t spend all day there, everyone was very efficient. I would recommend anybody to go there to get the best of care!
My son had a stye that needed to be drained as soon as possible because my insurance was about to end; they gave me the appointment the very next day.Doctor Hardin and his staff are very nice. I highly recommend Heaton eye associates. Also, I do believe that they have bilingual staff, a big plus to my hispanic community in the area.

In 2010 I was talking my 70 year old mother to see Dr. Hardin. My mother was not a easy patient for him to work on. She wouldnt let him touch or be around her eyes. Dr. Hardin was very calm and patient with her. He would get her to relax and let him work on her eyes. After a few visits she got to were she would let Dr. Hardin work on her without fussing. In 2019 I needed a eye doctor. Since I saw how wonderful Dr. Hardin had treated my mother. I know he was the eye doctor I wanted working on me. Thank you Dr. Hardin.
The staff was the most friendly people I have met in a doctors office and they were there to help me with what questions that needed to be answered in a timely manner. They scheduled me fast and work me in when I had lost my glasses. They also got me in and out in a timely manner.Thank You!👍
Prompt and professional service was provided by Dr. Heaton and his assistant, Catherine. Dr.Heaton spent time explaining my options for vision correction and was available to answer questions. During my preliminary exam, Catherine expressed her confidence in Dr.Heaton as a surgeon which is greatly appreciated, as he will be removing my cataracts. Very satisfied!
Using the CDC and city guidelines I was checked in for my appointment. The entire staff worn mask correctly. The staff was friendly, efficient. I was able to complete a total eye exam within the time frame I was told. I felt safe because I observed the housekeeper performing cleaning on top of what an individual team member performed.
Went for an eye exam and every one was super friendly and kind. Katherine was awesome, so friendly and super helpful 🙂. And Doctor Brice was super helpful as well and very kind. They both explained everything so well. Definitely recommend this place.

I have gone to Dr. Hardin for several years and he is an excellent doctor. This time I was there 2 hours, there was a lot of waiting. I realize part of it may be from catching up from our Texas snow storm from a few weeks ago.
Lisa was wonderful! Dr. Guenther was very sweet. Very thorough eye exam. Vision center glasses(frames) are very expensive though. Will have to shop around. Overall, it was a great visit.
The Doctors and staff are great! The entire building and interior deserves a design award. The giant aquarium is wonderful. I would visit just to sit in front of it and watch the fish. The water feature is so peaceful and good for your spirit. I look forward to next year!

During this time of pandemic, it is especially important to feel safe at a medical facility. They took every precaution and yet gave me a thorough exam and were very patient to explain things and get my prescription right. Everyone from the front desk to the doctors are friendly, kind and helpful.
I highly recommend Athens Heaton Eye Assoc. Excellent Doctors, staff and facility. Dr Hardin performed surgery on both of my eyes with excellent results. The entire process was professional and helpful with hardly any time spent in waiting rooms. My different options were discussed without any hard sell. The staff was very knowledgeable about the procedures as well as navigating the complexities of medical insurance.

Heaton Eye Associates is by far the best group of I doctors I’ve ever seen! I originally was referred to Dr. Hunter in the Tyler office for my one-year-old son. When I took my son to that visit I was so impressed by how good Dr. Hunter was with my son that I asked him if he could see me to which he replied yes. When I went to make an appointment with him he was booked out for about eight months. I knew that anyone booked out that far had to be good. I made an appointment to get in sooner with the doctors in Athens and I was equally impressed. The doctors across the board at all locations that I’ve been to our masters and I would trust any of them to work on mine and my families eyes. It seems to be more and more difficult to find someone you trust especially someone you can trust with your health and I have been fortunate enough to find an eye doctor and a primary care doctor that I absolutely love. If you go to Heaton Eye Associates you will never go anywhere else.
Appointment started off badly with having to wait 1 hr. Pasted my appointment time. After being shown in to room all workers were very friendly and helpful. The I doctor was very friendly and professional
I really needed to get in for my exam and get new glasses. Mine were falling apart, I was having headaches and personally dealing with a high stress situation at home due to my very sick husband. The appointment scheduler wasn’t able to get me in for several weeks. After listening to my urgent needs she was able to go the extra mile to find a spot to work me in that same day. This was above and beyond! The technician and my dr were just great. Friendly professional and great at communicating with me. I feel I was treated by highly qualified individuals who cared about me! Friendly professional staff. Comfortable beautiful offices. Dr. Hardin is an EXCELLENT. Doctor. He did my cataract surgery over 10 years ago. I can read the bottom line on the eye chart in his office and I do not have to wear reading glasses. The surgery was painless. If you need cataract surgery make an appointment. Dont delay.
Went on 7.10.20. The Staff was super friendly and the lady who examined my eyes before Dr Hardin was very professional and knowledgeable!. Ive always had good experiences there but this time was exceptional.
Dr Hardin performed my ASA surgery in November and after my recent checkup I now have 20/10 vision! Having worn glasses/contacts for 20 years it is still unreal to me that I can roll out of bed in the morning and see. Very grateful for the job Dr Hardin and his crew did!
Everyone was very professional and very friendly to my daughter, they answered any questions we had without rushing us. We also did not wait very long to be called back, probably under 10 minutes at most. We will use Heaton eye associates for our family, they also had fresh coffee in the waiting room which was a bonus!
I was very impressed with the efficiency of Both the office in Athens Texas and the office in Tyler Texas. The care that I got with testing, evaluation, and Cateract surgery was very good. I was impressed with the care taken ffor safety during the Covid 19 virus pendemic. My followup is still continuing with progress. Thank you Dr Hardin and staff. Let me start by saying that trying to give a 5 year old an eye exam and get their prescription is no easy task. With that being said, the staff here were phenomenal! They took their time and took extra steps to make my son feel at easy with every step of the process.
Dr. Hardin is a very knowledgeable, kind, caring, and helpful doctor. His staff is the same. I have received wonderful service both in Athens and at the surgery center inTyler. Would highly recommend this doctor and his staff.

Everyone went above and beyond to make my experience a good one. Having cataract surgery on both eyes has given me the best vision, that I have had in many years. Sorry that I waited so long. Felt free to elaborate on my answers to their questions.Did not like the news that they told me, but they did make a follow up appointment with the referral doctor. And that appointment is next week which hopefully will calm my anxiousness about my situation.

2022-08-30Dr. Carter in Athens, Tx. Is one of the best doctors Ive ever been to. She performed my cataract surgery on my right eye that was 20/1400 and I came out surgery 20/20 and would recommend her to everyone. Ive never had any doctor check up on me and personally call me and make sure I was doing OK! Makes a big difference to me. Thank you!!!!
