I made a reservation and when I got there. They told me they didnt have anymore cars. The only ones they had left was going to cost me over $500 for 2 days. Terrible service. Garbage🗑 .Stay away from that place. If thats how Hertz do business now days may be they shouldnt stay in business.
The rep Gabe in office was great he got me in and out quickly. I was able to handle it all on my lunch break. The only thing I would suggest is to have the location of the afterhour Dropbox explained or have a sign up to make it clear that its in the back. I felt like a had to search a little. I even left the location and came back bc I didnt see it. Other than that, I love this company and will always use them for any further trips.
So let me tell you about this place. Hertz is shady anyway but that’s beside the point. If you deal with Kevin, he’s a really nice guy and will convince you this place isn’t like every other hertz. They overbook when they don’t have vehicles available. Cars might have issues. You probably won’t get the car you requested. They aren’t open at the time reflected on google. They open at 8 if they open at 8. Gas is cheaper on the street than their prepay price so don’t give them any extra money. Watch your card cause they tend to do shady stuff. If you book on their site make sure it’s booked and the charges are right. It gets to be a whole different story when you walk in the place. I recommend not booking through a third party. People tend to experience issues when doing that especially if you need to make changes. You might get everything you need when you come here or you might get a headache and frustration. May the odds be in your favor.
Had reservation made by my insurance company for compact car as replacement while my car was being repaired. I called location at opening time to check if I needed to verify reservation and they stated no, Just call an hour before you are coming and we will have it ready for you. ! hour before i was to arrive at the rental location I called and they stated everything was ready for me and I can pick up my vehicle, At that time I verified with the employee that I wanted a small compact car and they said yes we have it ready for you. Because my vehicle was in the shop I had to find transportation just to get to the rental location since hertz stated they dont deliver or pick up customers to take them to rental location, so after taking off work early to get the car and finding a way there,We arrive at the location and they say we only have a large suv. At this point I remind the employee that i called twice earlier and made sure I was getting a Small compact which they stated was available. He said no but you can take the suv and swap it out another day. I told them I missed 2 days work already and and cant return yet again to bring a vehicle back to exchange, Also, I specifically asked for small vehicle to begin with and do not want a large vehicle. I then asked the employee to check if they have any small cars at other locations and he said no and that they do not exchange vehicles between locations anyway. So,after all the effort I put in to get a rental I left with nothing and had to find a way home no thanks to hertz. After calling the corporate number I also received no help either. I then called enterprise and they found me a vehicle right away that they were willing to hold for me and even sent a driver to pick me up.
Kevin and Ahmad are great! I first booked at the hertz at the airport and after being denied for some reasons on my end I tried to cancel and rebook a new reservation and they were extremely rude and I found this location and I’m glad I did! Great experience will be coming back.
As everyone else has mention DO NOT RENT HERE. I made a reservation and confirmed it over the phone just to be told I had to pay a higher rate if I wanted a car. If I didnt pay the higher rate then there would be none available. I wanted to cancel my booking and they still wanted to charge a cancelation fee. Terrible customer service. Never renting Hertz again.
Terrible customer experience. Do NOT rent here if you want a guarantee that the vehicle you rented will materialize. I reserved a car a month in advance. The day I was to pick it up, I called to confirm and was told that there was no vehicle for me. Hertz did not bother to call and let me know they failed to secure a car for me. Hertz did nothing to compensate me for the expense and aggravation it caused. Hello ENTERPRISE.
I made a reservation online, using Priceline.com. Because of their poor customer service and quality, I only used them because none of the other rental car companies had vehicles available.When I arrived at the pickup location, I was informed that the vehicle I reserved was not available. The representative said he didnt know when the vehicle might be available. He didnt offer me an alternative, either. (Thankfully, my ride waited for me. Otherwise, I would have had to use Lyft or Uber.)An hour later, he called me but by this time, I secured a rental with another company.I do NOT recommend using Hertz because of their location-wide incompetence. However, if you do, call to confirm they have vehicles available before making your reservation AND call again, the day of.
Horrible service. Had vehicle reserved for a while and as I was on my way in to pick it up someone called to say they had no vehicle on the lot. Not a SINGLE vehicle. Manager Holmes hung up on me when I asked about finding a vehicle at another location and when I inquired about the poor customer service and last minute cancellation. The reservation was pre-paid and the manager said IF I wanted my money back I had to call an 800 number and see IF it can be returned! This totally incompetent manager should be fired and everyone should STAY AWAY from this location!!! No wonder Hertz is in bankruptcy with management like that and such poor customer service. THIS IS A ZERO STAR RATINFG One star only because it wouldnt go through with ZERO STARS!
Should have listened to the other one star reviews... Showed up for my prepaid rental (from the hertz website!) only to be told that if I wanted my car Id have to pay twice as much and they MIGHT have something for me. I have never been treated so poorly by any business, ever. Unbelievable.
I will never try to rent from Hertz again. I rented a truck a week in advance. They gladly took my $400. They day I was going to pick it up, they said there was no truck. Horrible customer service. They gave me an “oh well” attitude. They didn’t even notify me that there was no truck. They said they called me the morning I was supposed to leave out of town. That was not true. I’m still waiting for mg refund. They did not even try to compensate me at all for the inconvenience. I will never rent here again.
Horrible place will never rent from Hertz again. We rented and prepaid for a car. When we got there they said no cars were available. We said how is that possible if it had been reserved a week ago and paid for. The manager said that insurance claims must have taken all the cars. He said they were a priority. I asked if customers were not also a priority. He quickly said that is not what he said and I was changing his words. They did not seem to care or help. I am a gold member and said I needed to call a 1800 number for help. After calling and transferring my reservation to the airport we could still not get a car. The agent at the airport said it could not be transferred since it was prepaid. We cancelled everything and ended renting from Enterprise who showed way better customer service.WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS W THEM AGAIN
Alejandro was really professional and helpful even though I kept bugging them.(stressed from the accident I had) He made sure I get what I needed. Jessica also was really nice every time I went in and listened to me and assured me I can get the car I want. Both checked on me after renting the car and made it easy for me to be picked up and also drop off the car at the location I was picking up my own car. Definitely will go back for rentals to this location.Thank you Alejandro.
Terrible customer service. Had gotten a confirmation that rental was going to be ready at a certain time and when I called Kevin, the manager, was super rude. He had me waiting on hold for 20 mins and would keep hanging up when I called having a question about my when my rental was going to be ready. Worst customer service experience ever dont even waste your time.
The staff at Alamo Heights Hertz is always amazing! They are helpful, cordial, so proficient and not once (in the many times I have rented from them) have I had an unpleasant experience. The counter staff and the Manager are THE BEST! They obvious are dedicated and have great leadership! I wont go anywhere else...NOT EVEN A DIFFERENT HERTZ!
My pick up time was at closing. Didnt know that until I showed up to locked doors. I drove to another Hertz location at the airport where I stood in line for 40mins and was told that my payment method was only accepted at non-airport locations. Wasted $50 on Lyft and wasted 1.5hrs to end up back where I started.
My insurance company called and got a confirmation number at noon today so I could get my rental today and when I called I was told I was being placed on a waiting list even though I had a confirmation number. My calls were dropped several times while I was speaking to representatives. The first young man said he could call other locations when I asked if he could and he said hed call me before closing. He never phoned. I called at 5 and spoke to a Shannon and was told even if they had a car it was too late to come get me to pick it up now. Nobody would call a different location to find me a car. This went on all day. I specifically requested Hertz because I had a good experience before. This location didnt seem to care whether or not they were getting my business or not which was being paid by my insurance. I was not treated with the customer service or professionalism at this location and after being in an accident that was no fault of my own makes things very stressful. I have work to go to and a minor that I wasnt able to pick up all because this location didnt follow through checking their other locations. Now after 5pm I am without a vehicle even though I had a reservation with a confirmation number since noon today. Wow
I rented a truck back in January. When I returned it, I saw they had overcharged me $180 for fuel. I called the original location where I picked up to talk to the lady who helped me with the rental. They said she was no longer with the company. I filled the complaint with the manager, and here I am almost 3 months later still waiting for the refund or an update. Every time I call, the manager seems to be busy or the request is still in progress! I definitely don’t reccomend renting from them. Never again will I be using Hertz!
Bad customer service. My mother and I were in San Antonio, TX visiting and needed a vehicle for just a short two day rental. The Hertz website allowed me to reserve a vehicle, but upon arrival there were no vehicles available. What appeared to be the assistant manager advised that it would be an hour to two hour wait for a car. After two hours of waiting, I was advised that they were bringing vehicles in from the airport (SAT) but I would have to pay for an upgrade since the only vehicles being supplied were SUVs and trucks. Firstly, myself along with 3 other people who had been waiting hours for a car shouldnt have to pay for an upgrade because those were the only vehicles available. Secondly, the assistant manager was rude and blamed the website instead of accommodating those of us who had been waiting for a rental and gave us an upgrade at the original price we had been quoted online. Thirdly, he made no attempt at fixing the issue and instead stated the website shouldnt have allowed us to make reservations. Granted it was no ones fault the website allowed us to make these reservations, however this is a business, and you treat your customers as first priority, not placing blame and price gouging them.
I BELIEVE ALL THE ONE STAR RATINGS !!Never thought I would leave a long review but here I am .If I could put a 0 I would . If Kevin,Zara find out they made a mistake they will instead take it out on you. I was told that since I went through Expedia I would have to pay a whole weekly rate of 262$ dollars for having the car for two days because I brought it back early and because I paid through Expedia . But I only booked with Expedia did not pay through them .THE SCARY PART IS IF I DIDNT SCREAM AND YELL ABOUT THE ISSUE And ask for the manager the mistake they made would not have been noticed and they wanted me to leave out of there with out getting reimbursed for the EARLY DAYs In which I brought it back .with more gas then was initially in the car.👀When they found out about this mistake that they made ,no remorse was taken . And not much correction . I was screamed at and look at like I was the crazy one. And still charged 161 $ for two days.At the end of the day Zara the manager did nothing to help with the situation ( except find the mistake that they made)charging more then what was my initial purchase on Expedia for a compact car after she was the one who saw the mistake made by her employee . Just plain bad customer service . Be on your toes..What aggravates me more is before they found out about the mistake they tried to blame it on Expedia ?? When it was in fact them . Thank god I listened attentively and caught Kevin when he said the price went down . Because if not that would have been a 262$ profit from me to them for no service.
Be prepared to to wait for your car to be ready. I reserved a compact and they had to clean it etc. I had to wait about 30-40 mins after my flight to get it. They didn’t want to upgrade me on their dime. Wanted me to pay an etc $100 for the week. Second time I’ve had a problem with hertz. This one and the one in buffalo ny
The worst service.I booked a car through the official website of Hertz and when I arrived they told me they were sold out. They didn’t even cancelled my reservation nor notified me about this.Without a logical explanation to this I had to grab a bus to my destination.
They gave me a crappy car and said they had nothing else available. Fender was hanging on one side, large ripple dent on door, tires were bald and made the drive very noisy, alignment was off, and interior smelled like smoke. It was for a business trip and it was embarrassing to pick up customers in it. If your looking for a good vehicle to enjoy your visit or trip this location is garbage. Try Hertz at the airport.
The Guy behind the counter is extremely rude, not eager to assist and he doesnt seem very knowledgeable. The young lady, however, was very nice and pleasant... Too bad I was already headed for the door, when she came to assist! Location doesnt have a variety of cars. Not many to choose from. 3 cars were on lot and 2 were reserved.
If you dont have a credit score (youve never used credit), you cant rent a car. If youre a young adult who recently learned how to drive and got a drivers license, so you havent got insurance yet, you can pay for Hertz insurance but it will be exorbitantly expensive, like $30-40 per day. All of this is humiliatingly ageist towards people aged under 25. If you are a young independent adult with no friends or family, say an orphan or a young immigrant, or even just a young student moving away from family to another state in search of a career/education, society will label you as a risky, reckless driver. Insurance companies discriminate against you, quoting your age and car crash statistics to justify their boycott of you. Everyone around you believes that, and refuses to lend you a car. Society as a whole discourages you from driving a car. Take the bus! Pay for Uber/Lyft! Where I live, I have to walk 1 hour to the nearest bus station. Uber/Lyft is expensive. The result is I can only have access the the nearest job opportunity---working at McDonalds. For 6 months, I rode a bicycle everywhere. And in Bexar County, Texas, it sucks to ride in this scorching heat. Distances are too long in San Antonio. Its hard to get around. Bike lanes are rare and every time I hit the road on my bicycle, I am risking my life with drivers whizzing past me. Sidewalks dont exist on every road, and sometimes the only route to get somewhere involves going onto the expressway. Society does not care about my struggles or survival. Drivers watch me fall and damage my bicycle, and nobody cares. I am alone.
Reserve a rental cargo van last night the facility was supposed to be open at 9 a.m. the next morning. Got there at 8:45 a.m. at 9:15 a.m. called corporate officecorporate office of sugar does someone will be there in the next 10 minutes. At 9:50 call call the corporate office at 10:30 we were redirected to go to another office to 20 miles away on the south side of town.
Bait and switch. I filled out their online reservation form for an economy Ford with 38 mpg. Then I tried to check-in, but their website kept throwing errors.When I arrived at the store, I was greeted by a rather unfriendly clerk, and told that they were going to run a credit check on me because I was paying with a debit/check MasterCard. At no time was I offered the opportunity to use a credit card, which I had. I prefer to not have a credit check ran against my line of credit, thank you very much.When I was finally given the keys to the vehicle, I was told that I would be driving a Nissan Sentra. This car gets no better than 29 mpg, nearly 10 mpg less than the Ford I reserved. They refused to give me another car, and I was late to work, so I had no choice but to take it.Then, when I finally started driving the car, the brakes were making loud scraping noises, and the brake pedal was incredibly gummy. I felt very unsafe driving that car, but again, I had no choice, I was late to work.The only thing they did right was give me a full refund for the rental contract when I returned the vehicle after work. Of course, by then, it was too late to get another rental car at any nearby agencies, and I had to take a $40 cab ride to the airport.I will never use Hertz again. Good bye!
Terrible and liars I was tricked into signing a contract for $29 a day I had the car for 2 months because someone hit me. He saw that I was young and took advantage of the fact that I didnt know the process. And told me yes just sign it it its only a one time charge of $29 I asked him multiple times before he charged me. I am just complaining about this now bc I am trying to start my credit but I cant because of that man who lied to me
Joshua & Odell always make sure I get the vehicle I need. I’d prefer to drive 3 1/2 hrs to go with them instead of going local due to the OUTSTANDING customer service. If they don’t have the vehicle you need they will go over and beyond to get it. I highly recommend this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Asked if we could add husband as a driver was told yes and that it could be done at any location. Went to another location and was,able to add him. When we returned the car and saw my bill found out that they charged me for adding him. They never disclosed that information and was told that I needed to read the fine print. Very rude and unprofessional will never rent from them again.
There’s no problem with the folks that run the site. Professional and kind. I showed up to picked up my rental and there is no car available on the lot. They told me 30-60 mins. Unacceptable service. I’m on a schedule and I Ubered over here. This wasted my time and effort, and it’s very frustrating.
Worst service, they don’t even care about the customer. I had a reservation and they changed me extra money and they told me to call the other manager. When I called her she always says she will look into it and call me back which she never did and also I stop by at the location 3 times and still the issue is not resolved.When I walk into the location, after they see me the manager walked back and let the employee tell the manger is not available.

2022-06-24I saw other peoples review and I have my doubts, but I need a car ASAP. So, I give them a chance and I was happy with my experience. Herz have a deal with Volkswagen Alamo Heights around $35 a day, and thats why I used Hertz due to shortage of cars, personel, no loners are available and all that it is going in the car market. Realistically, a basic car with the cheapest plan, no extras, left with the exact same gas they give it to me, no insurance (check if your car insurance cover rentals) was around $85/$95 a day..still pretty good with the withhold at the website i found around $120 with no withold. Be ready to have a credit card, not debit cards!!Mr. Kevin was great, respectful, customer service driven! I was in and out with a car in 20 minutes with a rental. Also, I called with anticipation to check their availability, they can be busy, my car was great. At the end, I used the Hertz express return, love it, it is super convenient, they charged me an extra day and I dispute it with them, because I have evidence with pictures dated and time that I returned the car, and they gave me my refund for that extra day charge. Overall, it was good experience, basic to cover my needs!

2022-06-26This 410 Alamo Heights in San Antonio is hands down, the best Hertz experience that Ive had since I became a customer. My representative was Gabe and he rocks!!My daughters car was totaled and this rental was a great help while we waited on the insurance company, bc she really loved 😍 her car. Will def return to this location, if ever the need arises for a rental. Thx Gabe!!

2022-07-08The pick up and drop off was smooth, and I’m pleased with that aspect. My issue is with a company policy.My Delta flight got cancelled, so I rebooked my flight for the next day. I tried pushing the Hertz car rental reservation a day back as well. The hourly car rate went up since I had booked a few days before, so it was charging me $111 online. I thought no problem I’ll just call customer service, because there is no way this company is CHARGING ME to PICK UP THE VEHICLE A DAY LATER. Well the woman I spoke with seemed to understand that that doesn’t make sense, but insisted there was nothing she could do. I didn’t pursue further, but I was livid. Luckily I considered that you have 24 hours to pick up your car from the point you made the reservation. I had a 3 hour window to get my vehicle after the new flight landed. But I had to figure that into the equation, because the customer service lady never mentioned this policy to help me figure out how best to solve my problem. This company obviously doesn’t have your back.Essentially, when you move your reservation Hertz charges you full price for the new daily rates and THEN DISCOUNTS WHAT YOU ALREADY PAID. So even if you pick up the vehicle later, because your flight got cancelled entirely outside of your control, Hertz doesn’t seem to care and will charge you if their rates happened to go up. Even though they get their vehicle for longer. And make even more money. Meanwhile the customer is left out to dry. Why even ask for the flight number, Hertz, if it doesn’t change anything? Ridiculous. If you have the money book with Enterprise. If you don’t, avoid Hertz.Left 2 stars for the actual location, because my issue isn’t with them specifically.

2022-01-19Renting with Hertz was a very satisfying experience while our family vehicle was going through repairs. Ahmad, Asst Mgr, made the process seamless from start to finish. We also received a competitive rate that allowed us to add the full coverage to ensure piece of mind. Overall, excellent value with exemplary customer service! I would definitely recommend this location and will be using them again if ever needed. 👍🏽

2022-01-15Nobody likes it when their car breaks down and ends up in the shop for a few days. However, it is good to know that you can find fair prices and excellent customer service at your local Hertz. I came in after finding a fair deal for a small vehicle, ended up paying about $45 per day for a Chevy Impala (not bad keeping in mind that other rental places were between $70-90 per day). I received an excellent customer service from one of the Managers Mr. Ahmad who made sure that I was taken care of and even waited a few minutes after 5pm for me to pick up an item that I had forgotten in my rental car.5 stars for customer service!

2022-05-14Kevin G. was absolutely fantastic to work with! We needed a last minute rental due to some car issues on our trip, I reserved a car online and he helped us when we picked it up and dropped it off. He was very friendly, professional, quick, compassionate and had great customer service! When we dropped the rental off he remembered us and even asked if we got our car fixed, it was great working with him!

2022-07-20At first everything was nice Kevin explained what I thought was everything I needed to know. Did his job on trying to sell me Hertz insurance. However I called to see if I needed to drop off the vehicle or take it to the shop and Kevin said to bring it to Hertz. When I arrived Kevin informed me I would have to take it to the shop and my refund would be deposited to my account today or on Monday. I followed all of Kevin’s instructions and look at my bank app and see a charge for $63.84. This is my first time renting a car and I told Kevin that. When I called about the charge Kevin informed me they have a $ 10 per gallon of gas charge. If Kevin would have done his job and informed me I would have refilled the tank. Now I have had a total of $113.84 deducted from my bank account and Kevin said there’s nothing he can do about it. Worst experience of my life they will take advantage of you in any way possible.

These guys were amazing in maneuvering through my internal errors with booking and reservations. Before I could begin getting frustrated these two guys reassured me that they would resolve it and they absolutely did.Problems are always going to occur; its life. 2022-05-24All of the reviews are accurate - both good and bad. When this place is good they are really amazing. When it is bad, it is *really* bad. I rent here as my company has a contract with them but often they dont have vehicles on the lot and what they do have is high milage, damaged, the fuel tank is never full (make sure to check and have them make a note, you can not get a credit but you can return it at the same level). This is a franchise type establishment and you have to call Hertz to get a refund, they can not do it at the counter. I always call the day of pickup to make sure they have a vehicle available as the website will allow you to book/pay for the vehicle in full even when they have no inventory. I would not recommend using this CDP location as a personal rental - use the airport. Prices are higher but vehicles are guaranteed and pickup/dropoff is quick and easy.

2022-05-14I booked car rental online. The day of pick up I called due to pick up time being at the closing time to see if I could pick up sooner. The guy informed me there were no cars available at all for my reservation. I asked why was I not informed or not allowed to book online. The guy said I believe we tried to call. This was false as I received no calls, no voice-mail, and no emails on this change. I asked if there cars at the other locations because I needed a car, he said no and I should call the airport. I was not even at the airport to need one from there or to get in their. The guy was not understanding or apologetic to the mishap. He was short and disconnected.
